Approximatly 6 years ago My TIPM failed on my 2011 dodge ram 2500. It was not under warrenty so I replaced it myself not knowing this was an ongoing problem with dodge products. Some electrical components became inoperative in the quick minute. Fuel pump was running continuedly till the battery was drained. Mechanic, I had used before told me that the TIPM Module was defective and needed replaced. Truck just before the battery died was that not all Eletronic's were working. Interior lights, horn, cruise control, FOBs not responding to the vehicle. Mechanic stated that the TPIM did need to be replaced. Contacted dealership were purchased and they told me that there have been recalls out on this particular part. I know that from 2009 to 2017 there have been several models that were impacted by this part being defective. I do have the invoice from the mechanic that took care of replacing the TIPM module.

Driving on the highway doing about 100km per hour and the truck shut off. No noise or anything it just died, no steering etc. luckily I was able to slow down and safely get to the side of the road. Put in park and it started up again fine. A few weeks later the same thing happened while drive 60km per hour. I took it home and appears the key is able to shake loose while in the run position; if you hit a bump etc it’s enough to cause the truck to shut off. I brought it to the dealer and told them and they knew exactly what the issue was; have to replace the ignition and get new keys- approximately a $1000 repair im told. They also said they do 4-5 of these repairs a week. I asked if it’s a recall item and they said no. I was shocked as it was very frightening when the truck shut off on the highway and not having full control of the vehicle. It was dangerous and I have not driven the truck since; have been 5 weeks waiting on the new ignition to come in. I also have a 2012 dodge 3500 diesel and it did the same thing this week. While driving it shut off. So I have 2 of these truck with the same issue; I’m told it’s a common issue with the trucks, but it’s not a recall? Seems like a huge safety concern to me. If I had been involved in an accident due to this issue I’m Sure we would be looking at a whole other issue.

WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET, HIGHWAY, AND OFF ROAD; ON BOTH A ROUGH PAVED ROADS AND WHILE RUNNING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER (ENGINE AND ALL POWERED ACCESSORIES) AFFECTING THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE, POWER STEERING AND BRAKING. FORTUNATELY, NO ACCIDENTS OR OTHER EVENTS HAVE OCCURRED WHEN I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE DURING THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS POWERLESS, IN MOTION, THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE PLACED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE RESTARTED BEFORE REGAINING ENGINE AND ACCESSORY POWER. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST OCCURRENCE AND HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE USED IN 2015. I HAVE REPLICATED THE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WHILE PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING: BY SLIGHTLY MOVING THE VEHICLE'S IGNITION KEY FOB WHILE ATTACHED TO THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN) MODULE, THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE AND ACCESSORIES TO SHUTOFF. WHILE RESEARCHING A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM, I FOUND NUMEROUS COMMENTS ON VEHICLE FORUMS AND CHATROOMS, AS WELL AS IN YOUTUBE VIDEOS RELATING TO ISSUES PROBLEMS WITH DEFECTIVE WINS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE BE REPROGRAMMED. IN MY OPINION, MOPAR HAS KNOWN, OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUES WITH THE WIN AND THE VEHICLE'S SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. LOSS OF POWER EVENTS LIKE I AND OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCE HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT RESULTING IN DEATH OF SERIOUS BODILY INJURY.

THERE ARE TWO ISSUES AT HAND HERE. ONE IS THE FUEL PUMP FUSE/RELAY. IT WENT OUT BUT CANT BE FIXED WITHOUT REPLACING THE ENTIRE FUSE BOX AS IT IS INTERNALLY WITHIN FUSE BOX. I DID A BYPASS AND REPLACED FUEL PUMP, BUT I STILL HAVE CODES RELATED TO FUEL SYSTEM HAVING A LEAK. WHEN THIS ISSUE HAPPENED, MY WIFE WAS LEFT STRANDED AS THE TRUCK WOULDN'T TURN ON. ALSO, ON A DIFFERENT NOTE, I NOTICED MY TRAILER BRAKE LIGHT COMING ON SAYING IT IS DISABLE AND FLASHES ON AND OFF AS I AM DRIVING. NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED TO THE ELECTRICAL ASPECT OF IT. THE OTHER WAS ON ENGINE. I HAVE A 2011 RAM 2500 5.7 4X4. IT STARTED WITH HAVING A CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE. I REPLACED SPARK PLUGS AND COILS. STILL HAD ISSUE AND AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT THE VALVE STEM/SPRING IN ENGINE HEAD BREAK AND CAUSE THE LIFTERS AND CAMSHAFT TO RUB AND RELEASE METAL SHAVINGS THROUGH OUT ENGINE. WHILE THIS WAS MESSED UP, I WOULD NOTICE THE TRUCK WOULD SHAKE VERY HARD AS I APPROACHED A CERTAIN SPEED LIMIT. I TOOK TRUCK TO DODGE DEALERSHIP TO VERIFY RESEARCH AND IT WAS CONFIRMED. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. SO I REPLACED ENGINE. TOTAL BILL WAS OVER 7500 FOR PARTS AND LABOR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 2500. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED FOR HIS SAFETY. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURES RECURRED ONCE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000. *DT*JB

WHEN WE GOT HOME LAST NITE I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND I COULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING LIKE ELECTRICAL. I OPENED THE HOOD AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS POURING OUT SMOKE. I GRABBED MY HOSE AND POURED WATER ON IT UNTIL I COULD DISCONNECT THE BATTERIES. UPON RESEARCH I FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM ON 2013 MODEL YEARS. I FEEL THE 2013 RECALL MAY NEED TO BE EXTENDED TO EARLIER MODEL YEARS. I AM FORTUNATE THE TRUCK DID NOT CATCH FIRE.

THE EMISSIONS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS A OVERLAY WIRING HARNESS THAT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE UPGRADED. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 67000 MILES ON IT AND THIS ITEM HELPS CONTROL THE DIESELS EMISIONES. IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE FACTORY FOR THE 100,000 MILES AS STATED. UPON CONTACTING FCA THEY REFUSED TO HELP IN ANY WAY TO COVER COST OF REPAIRS. THIS REPAIR IS HAPPENING ON MULTIPLE DIESEL RAMS . I ONLY ASK THAT FCA BE HELD RESPONSIBILITY FOR VEHICLES THAT PRODUCE AND SELL

THE WIN MODULE MAKES THE CAR SHUT OFF, WITHOUT WARNING TO THE DRIVER. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES GOING DOE THE FREE WAY AT 81 MPHS. IT ALSO HAPPENS IN THE CITY. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IT GOING TO HAPPEN. THE TRUCK LITERALLY SHUTS OFF BECAUSE WHENEVER. IT ALSO HAS ISSUES STARTING BACK UP.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 2500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RON SAYER'S CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE IN IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO 83401 (WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIND MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 2500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE HOOD WAS LIFTED, THE CONTACT OBSERVED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIRES TO THE ALTERNATOR WERE BURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED AN UNKNOWN DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR COST WAS $400. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 250,200.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES WITH CODES P241A AND P2196. I HAVE REPLACED THE O2 SENSOR 3 TIMES WITHIN ONE YEAR. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS THE WRING HARNESS.

I BECAME AWARE THAT THE TIPM MODULE IS DEFECTIVE. I NOTIFIED DODGE ON THIS PROBLEM AND EVEN REQUESTED ASSISTANCE ON REPAIR. ON 11/03/17, WAS TOLD DODGE DENIED CLAIM. IN MY OPINION THIS MAY BE A SAFETY CONCERN, SINCE THE TIPM MODULE CONTROLS FUEL SYSTEM, AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, WIPER OPERATIONS AND A FEW OTHER SYSTEMS. I'VE NOTICED ON THE INTERNET FROM DOSGE FORUMS THAT ALOT OF DODGE AND CHRYSLER OWNERS ALSO HAD ISSUSES WITH THE TIPM MODULE. I WAS QUOTED FOR REPAIRS AROUND $1200.00 .

I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A "NO START". PROBLEM DID CONTINUE WITH THE DEALER A FEW TIMES WITH NO CODES. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE TRUCK WOULD START AND THEN WHEN YOU TRY TO RESTART VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT START. DEALERSHIP CONCLUDED THAT IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE, THAT NEEDED TO BE UPDATED WITH THE SOME MODULE IN THE TRUCK. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAD TI PAY FOR THIS UPDATED, IN WHICH THIS PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED A FACTORY ISSUSE. WHICH IN MY OPINION THAT THE DODGE CORP. SHOULD HAVE COVERED THIS EXPENSE. I SEEN ON THE INTERNET WITH OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.

UPON ACTIVATING THE HIGH BEAM HEAD LIGHTS, ENGINE WILL BEGIN MISSING AND EVENTUALLY STALL. HEADLIGHTS WILL BLINK OFF AND ON. ALL DASH LIGHTS AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WILL ALSO FLUCTUATE POWER (RADIO, WIPERS, TAIL LIGHTS, HAZARDS, FRONT PARKING LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS). ALL GAUGES ON THE DASH WILL GO DEAD. WHILE DRIVING ON 7/22/2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 9:15 PM THE HIGH BEAM HEAD LIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO MISS AND ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS BEGAN TO TURN OFF, AND THEN BACK ON. THE ENGINE STALLED AT APPROX 65 MPH LEAVING NO POWER STEERING. TRUCK WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED ONCE IT WAS BROUGHT TO REST ON THE SHOULDER. HIGH BEAMS COULD NOT BE USED OR THE PROBLEM WOULD REPEAT. MAKE: RAM (DODGE) MODEL: 2500 YEAR: 2011 ENGINE/POWERTRAIN: 6.7L CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL W/ 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC.

POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING. IT WILL GO IN AND OUT INTERMITTENTLY AND THEN WORK PERIODICALLY. OUR TIE ROD ALREADY SNAPPED AND WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL, BUT NOW THE TRUCK HAS POWER STEERING ISSUES. A VIN CHECK SAYS ALL REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED ON OUR TRUCK BUT WE ARE STILL HAVING STEERING ISSUES. WAS DRIVING AND MAKING A TURN WHEN THE STEERING WENT OUT INITIALLY AND WE COULD NOT TURN THE VEHICLE. ALSO, BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING, CAUSING LOCKING TRAILER BRAKES, ROOF SUDDENLY BEGAN LEAKING AND FLOODED INTERIOR CAB, TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS ARE MALFUNCTIONING, HEATER FLAP IN DASH IS BAD AND BEEN IN FOR REPAIR 2 TIMES AND ITS NOT FIXED. AIR CONDITIONER IS NOT BLOWING COLD AND THE BACKUP CAMERA DOES NOT WORK. THE TRUCK HAS 60,000 MILES NOW AND IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, BUT DODGE SAYS IT CAN'T FIX SOME OF THE PROBLEMS DUE TO NO WARRANTY OR NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM.

THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM ONLY WORKS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. WHEN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 90 DEGREES AND THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND WHILE THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON THE INTERIOR CAB WILL NOT COOL DOWN. IT IS NOT UNTIL YOU START TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING STARTS TO COOL AND WILL KEEP COOL UNLESS YOU STAY STATIONARY FOR A WHILE. I HAVE HAD THE DEALER INSPECT THE A/C UNIT MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND THEY FIND NO PROBLEM. WHEN A BASIC INTERNET SEARCH IS PERFORMED I FIND MULTIPLE SOURCES INDICATING A DEFECTIVE FAN CLUTCH AND ONCE REPLACED THIS PROBLEM GOES AWAY. NORMALLY I WOULDN'T CARE BUT SINCE HAVING A 9 MONTH OLD WHILE LIVING IN OKLAHOMA ITS BECOME MORE OF A NECESSITY DURING THESE EXTREME SUMMER TEMPERATURES. *JS
