This is in regards to Recall #C4B for the ABS/HCU failure on my 2017 RAM. This recall was issued over a year ago in November of 2024, but Stellantis has yet to DO ANYTHING and can't even tell us when a remedy will be available. I have asked my local dealership and get the same answer, NOTHING!!! The parts must be available, because the dealership told me that I could purchase the part from them and pay them to install it. But, I would have to then wait to get reimbursed from Stellantis once the recall is "remedied". Two problems with this; 1) I don't have the $1500+ to spend on this, and 2) I don't trust them to ever pay me back! But, this does tell me that they have the parts. Plus, they have no trouble making and selling new vehicles with parts that don't have this safety failure. Can you make them prioritize this recall and take car of the thousands of RAM trucks with this safety issue. BTW, last month my brother-in-law was driving my truck on I-25 through Denver, CO. He hit an icy spot and lost traction causing him to go into a 360 spin. God was looking over him because he did hit anything or anyone. THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WOULD HAVE BEEN WORKING. STELLANTIS CAME VERY CLOSE TO BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS DEATH!!!
ABS Module and or HCU finally quit working. Loss of cruise control, ESC (traction control), 4x4 and speed sensor not registering. Had now storm around the 1st of December and got stuck on road in front of house due to loss of traction control and 4x4 not engaging. Dealer had said 4x4 was working when they informed me the ABS module needed replacement. It currently at a private diesel repair shop and they confirmed the ABS module needs replacement. Currently awaiting a ship and repair service to see if the module will work and fix the loss of above. There were two warning lamps on the dash lit up. The ABS and Traction Control light. I am hoping that all I need is the module repaired and that I don’t need the HCU replaced. This is super frustrating because there is a recall on the parts but the dealer and the company are in no hurry to find a remedy for the issue.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to activate the cruise control, the system initially failed to engage. After several attempts, the contact was able to activate the cruise control; however, while attempting to deactivate cruise control, the system failed to disengage. After several attempts the cruise control disengaged. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Speed Control); but the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 178,000.
Mileage: 178,000
HCU/ABS modules have failed for the second time in 50K miles. While using Cruise Control at highways speed (70mph) in heavy traffic the warning lines and chime came on. At the same instance the truck started slowing down dramatically. Almost causing us to get rear ended. It was like slamming on the brakes, but without brake lights to warn cars behind me. I finally figured out it caused the Cruise Control to kick out. Now I am having to listen to the constant chirping of the chime. It even chimes when the truck is not moving!!! Let me ask this question.... Why is it that long ago NHTSA required Anti-Lock Brakes on all cars to improve safety? Yet, when that system has a systemic problem of failure on these trucks, it's no longer a safety related problem? Makes zero sense!!! I purchased this truck with 99K miles on it. These modules went out once approximately 10K miles later. Now I have 154K miles and they have gone out again. FCA is selling replacement modules but they are the exact same failed design. They are not only not fixing the issue, they are knowingly selling parts that have systemic and reoccurring safety failures. This is legally called blatant negligence...
Issue a recall here! Many others are reporting this identical issue and a class action suit has been filed! ABS sensor light and chime comes on at random times. My truck just reached 100,000 miles. I've performed no troubleshooting but it is extremely intermittent, either the Service the Automatic or Service the Electronic Braking System(s). Usually, a bump in the road makes it come and another turns it off. Sometimes it happens so quickly, only the message and traction control disabled light comes on, sometimes only the chime comes in. Sometimes the message stays up and the brake warning and traction control light comes on, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes a couple of seconds. To compound the problem, there appears to be an issue in sourcing replacement parts resulting in a delay in repair. A delay in repair could result in a additional damage to the vehicle, not using the vehicle (not an option) or ultimately an accident. Also can’t use cruise control when it’s displaying.
The ABS warning lights comes on intermittently saying that the ABS braking system needs to be serviced. This appears to be can common defect with the Hydraulic Control Unit and Module on all 2017 to 2018 Dodge Ram trucks. With this defect the anti skid braking system does not work and the brakes are compromised. This happened at about 30,000 miles and the truck was already out of warranty. Dodge is stating that it will cost about $2,500 dollars to fix once Hydraulic Control Units become available. Apparently there is a nation wide back order.
ABS and Traction control warning lights are on display. Cruise control and 4x4 will not engage due to this issue. Also causing malfunction while towing a trailer.
ABS / TRACTION CONTROL AS WELL AS SERVICE ABS SYSTEM. AT TIMES IT COMES AND GOES AND MOST TIMES NOW IT STAYS ON. DISABLES CRUISE CONTROL AND AT TIMES EVEN SAYS 4 WHEEL DRIVE UNAVAILABLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY YEAR MODEL RAM AND I'D LIKE TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE ASAP.
ABS/HCU defect. Vehicle does not stop properly without ABS and parts arnt available. Warning chime will not clear and unsafe to drive.
Service ABS comes on and off randomly. When cruising at highway speeds, it causes the random shutdown of cruise control when not expecting it. This is very dangerous. Dealer states parts are on back order for years and they also state that it won’t fix the issue long term anyways. How has this issue not resulted in a safety recall!? I’ve read that thousands are plagued with this same exact issue.
2017 Ram 2500 ABS Pump Module was replaced before at 33,549 miles in May 2021 ABS and TCS Lights keep coming on now again at less than 49,000 miles. This is not an uncommon problem it seems, so I am adding my incident.
Intermittent MIL stating ABS and TCS service required, started has been going on since I bought the truck in January 2023 at about 50k miles (currently about 75k). Often happens when driving over any sort of uneven terrain - bumps, potholes, seams between concrete and asphalt surfaces, milled asphalt surfaces, speed bumps, debris, etc. Dealer says the ABS module needs to be replaced, and that there are none available. With some research, this appears to be a common/known issue for Ram trucks, but no recall and no effort to even manufacture the part so it can be fixed, regardless who is stuck with the bill. When this light comes on, neither 4WD nor cruise control function, which can cause safety concerns - especially while towing.
The ABS module has failed. There aren’t any available across the entire United States in order to fix our vehicle. We have no ABS, no cruise control, no trailer brakes. We can’t get any help or answers from Ram. We have started a case with them and cannot even get a call back. The dealer cannot even order the part.
ABS module unit replaced while under warranty. Vehicle again with ABS warning on/off intermittently for at least the last several months...regardless of weather, speed, road conditions, etc. Comes on and off while driving, sitting in a parking lot...pretty much as soon as I turn on the motor it starts...goes off again for several minutes/hours/days, then starts doing the blinking and dinging again for no reason. While traveling, it turns off cruise control and I have lost 4 wheel drive when I've desperately needed it. This vehicle is only used for long distance travel or during snow storms. This is a safety issue, in my opinion. Causes operational malfunction and causes driver distraction.
ABS AND LSC WARNING LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF. THE CRUISE CONTROL KICKS OFF. WARNING BELL DINGS OFF AND ON. CHECKED AND MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE SYSTEM
Abs light comes on and disables the cruise controls. Says abs brake failure and I have researched this and found it is a common problem. 6 speed Transmission is turning on check engine light and says gear 5 and gear 6 has improper ratio. Shifts hard into gear5 and won't downshift for passing gear.
Intermittent “service ABS system” light on dash resulting in loss of ABS, cruise control, park-sense, and 4x4. No amount of troubleshooting from a reputable diesel mechanic has been able to fix this. From what I have read online this is a very common issue and the truck likely needs an HCU/ABS module
ABS/Traction control unit disabled (light on). diagnosed by dealer in October of 2023 as ABS pump and module as bad. No part available from dealer (dealer only part and ETA of 3/24). Advised to park truck until part came in 6 months. Called Dodge customer care on 5/2 to ask for update. was told no part available and no ETA in the future. I am driving an unsafe vehicle due to faulty brake system dealer can't/won't fix.
ABS and traction control light came on intermittently at first, now they are constantly on. I have lost cruise control as a result.
Abs and tc light turn on ad off intermittently regardless of what mph driven. Constant audible warning sound. Dealer states known issues with abs system hydraulic contol unit with similar vehicles.
The ABS hcu fails intermittently causing a loss of traction control, cruise control. this is the second time i will have to replace the this unit. i had to first replace it at the end of 2021 and it failed a second time in october 2023.
I own a 2017 Ram the electronic breaking system light kept coming on when I had about 34000 miles on it but I had it over the 3 year period for warranty. Paid dealership about $1200.00 to get it fixed. Again at about 45,000 miles it started it again. Checked with dealer said it would cost about $1400.00 to get corrected and they would have to wait for parts. I see a lot of others have had the same problem with that model. I feel as lot of others, this should be a recall item. Also cruise control want work when light is on. Ram is going to wait until someone has a wreck and a fatality before they do anything about this issue. Also there will be a class action suit against them and they will be plenty follow. Hope how soon Ram decides to honor this defective issue.
The ABS and Traction control lights began to flash and the alarm began to come on intermittently in 2021. I took the truck to the dealer for repairs because the ABS, Traction Control and Cruise Control were not working. The repair cost was $1,00.00 at my expense. The problem has recently returned and is going to need repaired at my expense again. The ABS system not working causes a safety concern with stopping the vehicle. This is a know issue with these vehicles as such I feel it should be the manufactures responsibility for repairs.
ABS, electronic stability control and speed control not working. Code C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control.
ABS light goes on and off. C0020-01-ABS code internal failure. Cruise control goes in and out when code comes on. Brake pedal inconsistent. No parts available to fix this concern.
ABS, Electronic control system malfunction. Constantly failing causing safety to driving.
No ABS function. Cruise control inoperative. Codes set for ABS module and ABS pump failure.
A Hydraulic Control Unit malfunction resulting in multiple warning lamps flashing on and off intermittently - including the ABS, the EBS, the Traction Control, and the Cruise Control. This is apparently a known issue with this model year truck and is inclusive of a class action lawsuit, yet there has been no recall. This failure results in unpredictable breaking and/or the ability to break and operate, especially in slippery conditions. This replacement repair is estimated at $1,100-1,300 on top of incredible uneasiness to operate the vehicle.
This has been going on since May of 2022 Every time I start my truck I get a warning that my ABS is not working and that my electronic braking needs to be serviced. While these lights are active, I have no ABS, traction control, or cruise control. After about 10 to 15 minutes of driving, the warnings go out. The lights sometimes will stay off for twenty to thirty minutes, but normally flash on between off and on at random intervals. I also noticed that I immediately loose ASB and traction control during emergency braking. The lack of ABS has recently caused me to lock up the wheels on wet concrete while towing a camper as a car cut me off to exit the highway. The lock-up caused the trailer to jack-knife, and nearly roll over an embankment. I
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH with the Adaptive Cruise Control engaged, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal to overtake another vehicle; however, after overtaking the other vehicle, the vehicle continued to accelerate independently. The contact depressed the brake pedal; however, the vehicle decelerated temporarily and continued to accelerate independently. The contact pulled to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Vehicle Speed Control). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the dealer informed the contact that the recall repair was previously performed on the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that a fee would be charged for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
Mileage: 140,000
ABS module and HCU. Very hard to stop and kicks off cruise control all of a sudden. It was replaced 1 year ago less than 7000 miles and it went out again
Abs warning lights going crazy kicks cruise control off and traction control and 4x4 stop working Constantly dinging and flashing don’t know if brakes will work or not
This started in May 2023, warning lights "Service Electronic Braking System", "Service Anti-Lock Brakes". It is an intermittent issue, cannot duplicate. Appears at random, with Cruise control on,, if the issue message appears the cruise control disables. This can go on for several minutes, then all of a sudden stop. Could resume minutes later. Again Random. Don't rely on your anti-lock brakes, not reliable, or vote of confidence. As of today's writing 11/18/23, appears to becoming worse. I believe eventually I will note have a braking system whatsoever. Unfortunately I don't trust my dealer, or any dealer at this point for a consensus.
Abs pump failure intermittent loss of braking system and traction
The ABS module/HCU is faulty just like thousands of others who are reporting this same issue. Tested with an expensive scan tool by a certified mechanic AND the local dodge dealership in Greenwood SC. Dealership doesn't have the parts to fix it and can't tell me when parts will be available. The warning lights on the dash come and go but are on 75% of the time. This is EXTREMELY dangerous because when the lights come on it kicks the cruise control off suddenly. VERY unsafe on the interstate in traffic doing 85MPH. I'm surprised myself or no one else has been killed due to this.
Problem #1- I had to replace the ABS module and HCU on this truck at about 10k miles. (this was completed under warranty). Then at 50k miles truck was diagnosed with the same problem. I had to pay out of pocket for this repair. I ordered these parts from the dealer in November 2021, and they did not get me in until August 19, 2023. I had to pay ($1152.33). This is very dangerous when it has this error it causes the service sabitrac and service abs pop up on the display nonstop with no way to clear it. It also chimes every time. it is very distracting. while these service lights are on, I had no cruise control or traction control. Problem # 2 Transmission over drive failed. I had to replace transmission and transfer case. This makes for an unsafe vehicle that could leave me stranded on the side of the road. this repair cost me ($7,500). Failed at 67,675 miles. Problem # 3 turbo actuator failed and had to replace at 68,565 miles this cost me ($1750). this is an extended warranty on the 2015 model year pickups. Should be all across the board for all trucks using the same design/parts. In total on just repairs under 70k miles I have been forced to spend ($10,402.33). This truck is not road safe at all and I should be reimbursed for all my money I had to spend. At the bare minimum i should be compensated for all my down time plus repairs.
The anti-lock and traction control light and service light came on shortly after purchase, this happened while towing a 10,000lb camper in the N. GA mountains. this was a challenging situation with that much weight pushing the truck and the brakes weren't working properly. After getting a code reader, I found out the HCU has been listed as a service problem. You try to find the part and there is a hold on releasing the part because the manufacture is having problems with the updated part, and they don't even offer the original part because of the defect on the original part, (part # 68143491AA) The replacement part is (68143491AB). Thankfully I grew up driving vehicles without modern ABS , If my wife would have been driving, or an inexperienced driver, this could have ended in a very, very bad situation. Why isn't there a safety recall on this vehicle? Why should the consumer have to pay for a KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. just look at the posts on the internet. Even worse, you can't get the part to fix, every dealer that has the part listed says the part will not be released until February, and not until April for the public. ( but the website says they are in stock) You call to verify that the part is on hand and they said not until spring.
This is an ongoing problem and it appears to be affecting other owners of this vehicle as well. The code is C0020-001. The ABS/Traction control light comes on - a message to service the Anti-Lock braking system comes on - and the cruise control does not work. This happens intermittently sometimes 20 times in a minute, sometimes it's 20 times a day and sometimes I can go 2 or 3 days without it coming on at all. It's very frustrating and unnerving as the cruise control just drops out while you're driving which is not safe. The ABS also does not function with this issue. This issue needs to be addressed. Additionally there is a parts shortage for this repair most obviously because the parts are in short supply with everyone needing to make this repair. There are countless other people who are having this issue besides myself. Please issue a recall. This is not safe.
The ABS and traction control light are coming on and off and malfunctioning with a dinging bell alert. With a message that says service antilock brakes soon. On wet roads the steering seems off and brakes lock up. Very unsafe, The Ram dealer said the parts to fix are under engineering review and not available until February 2024. My truck is a 2017 Ram 2500 with19,850 miles. I bought the truck new
ABS and Traction Control warnings cycling on and off randomly. Warnings are off only for short periods and are on most of the time. Cruise control is not working when the warnings are on which causes a sudden unexpected drop in speed on the highway when a warning cycle occurs. Two dealers have advised that the unit is faulty in manufacture and design but no replacement parts are currently available. Unfortunately I am unable to replace the vehicle and must continue to drive it without these important safety features.
Electronic braking system and ABS lights intermittently come on and off an throws a code c0020-01 which many dealers say should replace the HCU and ABS modules and research has shown that this if a short-term fix on a fault component. Please hold ram to task.
I have 2017 Dodge ram 2500.12/09/19 the anti lock brake system control and hcu module was replaced under warranty. Now august 2023 with 27,900 miles the same problem has occurred with the dealer recommending the ABS control module and HCU be replaced. the parts will not be avaiable until January 2024. If a Abs module failure is not serious what is. A check of the internet shows a tremendous amount of complaints of this issue. there is even a class action lawsuit in California. I have spoken with Ram Care and they dropped my case as soon as they found out the part was backordered until January. I have all the dealer documentaion if needed. Please look into this problem before crashes start occuring.
My 2017 Ram 2500 Cummins pick-up truck started displaying symptoms of a bad HCU module several months ago, "Service Electronic Braking System" warning message, ABS dash light indicating loss of ABS, and Traction Control Light indicating loss of traction control, as well as kicking the vehicle out of Cruise Control when this set of condition lights are, albeit intermittently illuminated. There are times where these condition light persist for long periods of time from several hours to several days, and then times when these condition lights aren't present and will only intermittently come on and then times when these lights blink/ding on and off constantly for several minutes until it comes to rest in an always on state or an intermittent state. After having the issue confirmed by a third-party reputable mechanic shop AND a RAM Dealership Service department I was told the module is on backorder. Being that it is a safety system I don't trust the "aftermarket parts industry" to provide me with authentic manufacturer trusted equipment. Which leaves me encumbered with the stress and risk of having to operate my vehicle with unreliable ABS, Traction Control, Cruise Control. This is beyond a unique to me issue as there are plenty of well documented cases of RAM 2500-3500 series vehicle with this issue as well as a recall on the 2019 & up series of the same. So why would they not issue the recall for the other trucks with this safety issue? Condition persists at any speed regardless of road and weather conditions, no matter the duration of vehicle operation per trip.
While driving down the road my vehicles ABS and Traction control light go on and off, most of the time the lights are stuck on. Causing the vehicle to not have ABS and traction control during the rain and snow months of the year an further more the cruise control does not work. At this point the truck is unsafe to drive in all conditions as it does not retain its safety braking systems, I will not put my family in the vehicle. Moving forward ask my local Ram dealer about the repairs and they say they can not get the parts they have been on back order.
First got an Service Antilock Brake System and Stability Control light. A couple days later, lost speedometer and park sense lights came on along with "Service Trailer Brakes", but I haven't had a trailer hooked up to this truck ever.
ABS, Traction control light came on. Shut down 4wd, parking assist, cruise control. Trucks not braking evenly. Feels like differential is locked
Vehicle set code C0020-01 ABS Control Module/ Hydraulic Control Unit failure. ABS system, Traction Control and cruise control does not work. Parts unavailable to fix issue leaving me with the choice or parking the vehicle or driving and u safe vehicle. This should have been a recall and Ram is doing nothing about it.
2017 RAM 2500 has known issue with Antilock Brake Unit Hydraulic Controller - This prevents brakes from operating correctly and traction control / speed control is disabled - Confirmed diagnosis with dealer - Vehicle has current Mopar Vehicle Protection (service plan) but part is unavailable to be ordered - RAM dealer stated vehicle does not pass state safety inspection. RAM Care case submitted. No accidents and 40k miles. This component failure can result in unsafe conditions while driving due to loss of control while stopping or in slippery conditions. Constant alert and lack of speed control can lead to driver fatigue.
My trucks ABS keeps cutting off, it’s operation is intermittent. This also disables the cruise control and traction control. I have researched this on this year and it’s a problem with many of doges trucks. The dealer has no fix for this safety issue. This is an on going issue that happens every time i drive the vehicle.
Cruise control quit working when towing my trailer with tractor loaded. Service antilock brake system and service electronic brake system messages and lights on dash showed. Would occur intermittently, then became more steady. Took to dealer today, 6/19/2023, and was told no part could be ordered to fix this. Dealer advised they do not have an answer/fix. May have by August 16. Seems a long time to wait for a brake system solution/fix.
Abs pump and control module built with defective part’s causing pump and module failure which in turn caused break failure
I have dash lights going on and off for the ABS and traction control. This is very intermitted. On two occasions I have experienced times where I had to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident. Both times the ABS failed to work causing me to come to near collision with another vehicle. One of the times this caused me to go off into a ditch. This was with slick roads and snow covered in areas. Have also had several times the truck would steer out of control with no traction aid. I am constantly losing speed control using cruise control. It will work for a bit and then turn off when the ABS and traction control lights come on.
My dash will randomly start flashing the messages "service electronic braking system" and "service antilock brake system". Sometimes this happens as soon as I start the vehicle, other times it happens while driving down the road. Sometimes it seems as if a bump in the road will trigger the messages, others are random. When the messages are there, the traction control feature does not work. I do not know if the abs system will work or not as I have been lucky enough to not have to test that. Also, while the messages are present, the cruise control function will not work.
The ABS control module and the HCU has Failed twice on this truck resulting in loss of traction control, ABS and cruise control. The unit was replaced around 42,000 miles and then failed again at roughly 60,000 miles. Ram will not replace under warranty. the failure causes the abs and traction control light on the dash to come on and off constantly. it also shuts down cruise control. I believe it also causes excessive ware on the rear tires due to the traction control system not working properly. This is a major problem and judging by online repair forums there are many other people experiencing the same issues
This issue was repaired by the dealer one year ago and it has happened again, they tried to charge me by pretending they didnt know about the previous repair. the internet is full with the exact same complaint and how is this not a recall to hold them accountable?? the service electronic brake system and ABS lights come on and off each time making annoying noises. when the lights are on the 4x4, cruise control and other items will not engage. the dealer agreed to repair it but told me to call in 5 months to see IFFFF any parts are available this not only shows its a wide spread problem but their incompetency to fix it. how do I know the second module they replace wont malfunction as well???
At 30,076 miles, I began to receive 2 warning notifications in the truck’s instrument panel: “Service Electronic Braking System” and an amber ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) warning light. Both warnings include a loud audible warming when they illuminate, appear when driving the truck, but seem completely random in nature. Either or both notifications illuminate and the warning lights stay on for as little as a few seconds to as long as a minute. The frequency of the audible and visual warning lights is also random. On some driving trips, they may appear up to 6-7 times each minute. On other trips they may occur 2-3 times over several miles/minutes. driving/stopping on wet pavement could be problematic because the ABS, Cruise control, and built-in trailer brake controller ALL stop working when the warning lights come on. If hauling a very heavy trailer, and the trailer brake controller fails, then this could cause a fatal condition for not only the driver of the truck, but all those in the vicinity should a sudden slow down or stop be needed.
ABS Hydraulic unit and ABS Module failed at 72465 Causing cruise control and 4x4 to not work. Warning lights flash on off intermitting. ABS module is on back order for at least 90 days. Not a guarantee fix. .
The truck went into “limp mode” while driving about 60mph which jerked really hard and almost made me lose control of the truck. I took it to the dealer which cost me $2,000 for a transmission solenoid.
ABS malfunction indicator lamp, service ABS system and service electronic braking system message intermittently coming on. Sometimes for a short period of time and sometimes stay on for entire trip. Causes cruise control and traction control to be immobilized. My safety is at risk due to the ABS and traction control not being functional. I have not had it diagnosed by a dealer yet, however there are hundreds if not thousands of people on Ram forums complaining of the same issues without Ram taking care of the fix and the costs are on the vehicle owners. Its not something like a radio is having issues, its the braking system, which I would think that RAM or FCA and the NHTSA would think is a pretty serious problem with these vehicles.
GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF ABS AND CRUISE CONTROL AT 22, 275 MILES. HAD TO REPLACE BOTH THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (PUMP) AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT. INTERMITTENT WARNING LIGHTS WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION AND NO ABS OR CURISE CONTROL AVAILABLE.
Mileage: 22,275
AFTER APPROXIMATELY 8K MILES MY 2017 RAM 2500 INTERMITTENTLY HAD THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATE. AT FIRST IT WOULD ONLY TEMPORARILY FLICKER AND CHIME, BVENTUALLY THE CODE/LIGHTS REMAINED IN THE SYSTEM. WHEN THIS OCCURS CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT AVAILABLE. I'M NOT SURE IF THE ABS OR TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS OPERATE. AFTER MULTIPLE VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP THE ISSUE WAS LOCATED AND THE ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC MOTOR CONTROL WERE REPLACED. EVERYTHING HAS OPERATED PROPERLY UNTIL THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS, WHICH IS 2 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS LATER, WITH 19.8K MILES. AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK AND LETTING OFF THE BRAKE THE ABS/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS FLASHED AND THEN IT DIDN'T REOCCUR FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THEN AS TIME WENT ON AND BUMPIER ROADS WERE ENCOUNTERED IT WOULD HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY, SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES PER MINUTE. THIS FELT EXACTLY LIKE WHAT I HAD EXPERIENCED PREVIOUSLY. THEN IT WAS BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CODE WAS TRACED TO C0020 - ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. SO AGAIN, THE ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC MOTOR CONTROL NEEDED REPLACEMENT. AFTER A HANDFUL OF MILES THINGS ARE BACK TO NORMAL.
Mileage: 8,000
MY 2017 RAM 2500 HAD 55K MILES WHEN I GOT A DASHBOARD WARNING INDICATING THAT SERVICE OF MY ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM WAS NEEDED. I ALSO GOT WARNING INDICATORS FOR ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL. I HAD POOR BRAKING, NO TRACTION CONTROL AND NO CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THESE WARNING LIGHTS WERE LIT. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU), COSTING ME $750. MY RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK AT VARIOUS LEVELS OF MILEAGE, AND RAM/FCA HAS RESTRICTED THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE HCUS IN RECOGNITION OF THIS PROBLEM. RAM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A PRODUCT DEFECT. I'VE OWNED MANY OTHER BRANDS OF VEHICLES (BMW, TOYOTA, HONDA), WITH VARYING LEVELS OF MILEAGE, AND NONE OF THEM HAVE EVERY EXPERIENCED A FAILURE IN ABS COMPONENTS. RAM/FCA SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THESE COMPONENTS HAVE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND REIMBURSE CLIENTS WHO PAID TO HAVE THE PARTS REPLACED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 75 MPH, ON CRUISE CONTROL AND ACCELERATED TO OVERTAKE ANOTHER VEHICLE, THE THROTTLE STUCK WITHOUT WARNING. HE MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE AND PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL, AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TOO MUCH PRESSURE WAS PUT ON THE BRAKES AND CAUSED THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES TO BURN AMID HEAVY SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LARRY H. MILLER JEEP DEALER (8525 LOMAS BLVD NE, ALBUQUERQUE, NM 87110) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT OIL WAS OVERFILLED AND GOT INTO THE CRANKCASE. THE TECHNICIAN CLEANED THE CRANKCASE, INSTALLED NEW ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE RECALL, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V332000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED EXCEPT THE CRUSE CONTROL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,630.

THE THROTTLE IS NOT RESPONDING. IT IS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. DURING REGULAR DRIVING THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS. AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE DURING BRAKING. IN ADDITION THERE ARE 2 POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE THAT HAVE NO REMEDIES.

ON AT 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, I HAVE HAD THE ACCELERATOR GET STUCK ON WHAT I BELIEVE IS FULL THROTTLE. INITIALLY I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE MY FLOOR MAT, HOWEVER IT HAPPENED YESTERDAY IN A PARKING LOT. SO THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE PEDDLE TO GET INVOLVED WITH THE FLOOR MAT. I WAS ACCELERATING, BUT OBVIOUSLY NOT TO FULL THROTTLE

JUNE 26TH 2019 MY TRUCK FELT LIKE IT SHIFTED INTO 4WD ON ITS OWN, LATER THAT DAY I LOST ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND CRUISE CONTROL. IT WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT TOOK 3 DAYS TO DIAGNOSE. WAS INFORMED THAT ABS PUMP AND ABS CONTROL MODULE NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THE PART IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. FURTHER RESEARCH OF INTERNET FORUMS SHOWS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ADDRESSED PROPERLY. I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY TRUCK TO BE REPAIRED AND THERE IS A WARRANTY ON IT. DEALERSHIP ALLOWED ME TO PICKUP THE TRUCK WITHOUT THE REPAIR AND DID NOT PROVIDE RECEIPTS OR WORK ORDERS BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER TRANSPORTATION. IN HEAVY RAIN THE TRUCK HAS BECOME QUITE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.

MY RAM 2500 DIESEL WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY WITH PERIODIC STOP LIGHTS WHEN I PUSHED HEAVILY ON THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE WHILE PULLING A 13,000 LB TRAILER. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, THE ENGINE STAYED IN FULL ACCELERATION MODE. FULL BRAKING WAS NOT SLOWING THE VEHICLE MUCH AND IT LOOKED LIKE WE WERE GOING TO COLLIDE IN TO VEHICLES AHEAD OF US. I SHIFTED IN TO NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE RACED AT HIGH RPM, BUT I WAS THEN ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND AVOID THE VEHICLES. I SHUT OFF THE MOTOR FOR A SHORT TIME, RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS FINE. A RECALL IS APPARENTLY AVAILABLE FOR RAM 2500S WITH GASOLINE ENGINES, BUT I WAS TOLD NOT FOR MY DIESEL. THAT NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED IMMEDIATELY TO GET OURS FIXED. VERY SCARY.

WITH CRUISE SET AT 75 MPH, SPEED WOULD DECREASE TO AROUND 71MPH, THEN UNEXPECTEDLY AND RAPIDLY INCREASE TO 75. THIS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY AND I STOPPED USING IT FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS. I TRIED IT ON RETURN TRIP AND IT WORKED FINE. *TT *TR
