I own a 2018 Ram 2500 equipped with the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine that I purchased brand new in Iowa. For approximately the last four to five years, my vehicle has displayed persistent warnings including “Service Electronic Braking System,” ABS warning light, and traction control warnings, accompanied by constant audible alerts. As a result, multiple braking safety systems are disabled, including anti-lock braking, stability control, traction control, and cruise control. For several years I contacted Ram dealerships and the manufacturer regarding this issue and was repeatedly told that repair parts were unavailable. During this time, widespread reports of identical failures were being discussed on owner forums and among dealerships. A federal safety recall was eventually issued for the ABS control module, and I received my official recall notification letter approximately one year ago. Despite the recall being active, the manufacturer and local dealerships continue to state that no replacement parts are available and that there is no estimated timeline for when a remedy will be provided. As of today, my vehicle remains unrepaired and continues to operate with disabled braking safety systems and constant warning alarms. This is a heavy-duty truck that is regularly operated in Iowa, where inclement weather conditions including snow, ice, and heavy rain are common. I am concerned about the safety risk posed by operating a vehicle with compromised braking and stability systems and the lack of any available remedy after more than a year under an active safety recall. I am submitting this complaint to document the ongoing safety defect, the prolonged lack of remedy, and the manufacturer’s inability to provide a timeline for repair of this federally recalled braking system.
Service ABS light constantly alerting, every time I touch brakes. Loses cruise control. I called two local dealerships who tell me parts are unavailable. This is on recall, why aren’t parts available?
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and hauling an RV, the trailer brakes intermittently became inoperable. The message "Trailer Brakes Disconnected - Check Trailer Wiring" was displayed. The contact replaced the trailer wiring; however, the failure persisted. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the HCU had failed, and the failure was related to the trailer brakes' failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that the recall remedy was available. However, the dealer sent a document to the contact that stated that the part for the model year of the vehicle was not yet available. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

Recall/Campaign: Ram/Stellantis C4B Problem: “Dealer says remedy/parts are not available / cannot schedule recall repair.” This has been a problem since 2023. Have not had ABS for years or 4x4 and i live in a snow environment. My breaks and rotors are trash from not having ABS.
I am the owner of a 2018 RAM 2500 that is subject to NHTSA safety recall 24V-896 (manufacturer recall C4B), involving a potential failure of the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) affecting ABS, electronic stability control, and traction control systems. This recall has been active for over one year on my vehicle. Despite repeated contact with authorized RAM dealerships and the manufacturer, I have been informed that no repair remedy or replacement parts are available, and no timeline has been provided for when the recall can be completed. This is a brake-related safety recall, and the continued inability to repair the vehicle creates an ongoing safety risk. The manufacturer has not provided an interim remedy, loaner vehicle, or alternative solution. I am filing this complaint to document that the recall remains unresolved due to parts unavailability and to request NHTSA review of the extended delay in providing a safety remedy.
I am reporting ongoing safety concerns with my 2018 RAM 2500 (6.7L Cummins) related to repeated emissions/aftertreatment failures and the lack of timely repair options. These failures directly affect drivability and can create hazardous situations if the vehicle enters derate mode while towing or driving at highway speeds. Over the past year, my truck has suffered multiple emissions-related component failures, including DEF dosing issues, SCR/DPF system faults, repeated warning messages, and the threat of speed-limiting derates. The vehicle is used for normal personal use, is well-maintained, and has not been modified. Despite proper maintenance, the same types of failures continue to recur. A major concern is that local RAM dealers have extremely limited ability to service these issues in a timely manner. Appointments are often weeks out, and when the truck is already in a failure state it is unsafe to continue driving. I have previously reported safety-related defects to NHTSA (ABS/HCU), and those issues later resulted in recalls—so I know that reporting matters. The combination of emissions failures, derate risks, and lack of dealer support creates a situation where the vehicle may suddenly lose power or become unsafe to operate, especially when towing or traveling in rural areas with limited service availability. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether there is a broader pattern of emissions-system failures on RAM heavy-duty trucks with the 6.7 Cummins and whether these failures pose a safety risk due to the forced-derate logic and inability to obtain timely repairs.
The Brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) covered under Safety Recall C4B has been unavailable for several years, leaving my 2018 Ram 2500 with ongoing ABS, traction control, and electronic stability control malfunctions. This defect has already caused an actual accident. In January 2024, during snow conditions, the ABS and traction control failed while I was braking in my driveway. The truck slid uncontrollably and struck a tree, causing over $10,000 in damage that had to be repaired through my insurance. This incident occurred specifically because the brake and stability systems did not function properly. The issue continues to create serious safety risks, especially in winter. The warning lights for ABS and traction control are on constantly, accompanied by continuous dinging that is extremely distracting and stressful to drive with. The truck loses stability on snow or ice, braking distance is increased, and the vehicle behaves unpredictably. I am now driving again in snow and ice this winter, and I am genuinely afraid this defect will cause another accident. Despite this being an acknowledged safety recall, every dealership I contact says the replacement HCU part is still “not available” for my vehicle. This has been confirmed repeatedly by multiple dealerships and by the manufacturer’s recall hotline. I have attempted to get this recall repaired for several years with no success. Because the recall remedy is unavailable, the vehicle remains unsafe to operate, yet I have no alternative transportation and must drive it daily. I also cannot sell or trade the truck, which has caused significant financial harm. I am requesting NHTSA assistance because the recall remedy has not been provided within a reasonable timeframe, the vehicle remains unsafe, and the defect has already contributed to a crash.
Please add this to complaint number: 11702732 This is a supplemental complaint regarding the same safety issue I previously reported involving Safety Recall C4B on my 2018 Ram 2500 - complaint # 11702732 In addition to the safety concerns and the prior accident I described in my original complaint, the unresolved recall has also caused significant financial harm. I still owe approximately $15,100 on the vehicle and must make a $515 monthly payment. Because the recall remedy has been unavailable for years, I cannot legally sell or trade the vehicle, even though it should have substantial equity. The truck’s resale value has dropped due to the open safety recall with no remedy, leaving me financially stuck with an unsafe vehicle I cannot get rid of and a high payment that I currently cannot afford due to job loss. The unresolved recall continues to put me in danger during winter driving, and the lack of remedy has created both a safety crisis and a serious financial hardship. Please attach this information to my previous complaint for the same VIN.
I have a 2018 ram 2500 purchase from the dealership within the same week of purchase magically the ABS system failed driving down the highway in the middle of winter time kicking out cruise control and traction control causing me to almost crash on the highway and get hit by a semi Not only have I had the truck for almost 2 years unable to drive it I believe the dealership should never been able to sell me this vehicle with the known problems and what they already failing ABS system making me unaware of the issue Yes and the brake system not working in the truck sitting has caused other failures in the vehicle now a transmission shop told me the ABS failure affecting other parts of the truck caused the transmission brain to not work correctly and my warranty could not fix the transmission is corrected and fixed so I have those problems now that can't be fixed until the ABS systems fixed and there's no parts available still so my warranty is going to expire before the break system can get fixed Before it went out on me there were no lights I purchased it from the dealership so obviously they had cleared out the failure and lights to make the vehicle sale because the ABS light came on during test drive and I was told that was a new feature to remind you to check brake pad for wear and tear
Recently the radio and display system in the vehicle stopped working properly. It was basically ghosting all commands. It could not be controlled by knobs, touch screen or voice command. the dealer stated that the screen delaminated and was causing the issue. This is a safety concern because the radio was calling 911 randomly and I was unable to stop it, it was turn on and off features in the vehicle. It's very dangerous. there is a wide know problem for these delaminating screens and this should be recalled and fixed.
My ABS module has an active recall. I have replaced brakes and rotors in the front and rear. I have had to resurface my rear rotors due to the issue. My breaks are locking up and causing issues. I can't back up my trailer without my breaks locking up. The recall has been active for almost a year without a resolution. This problem is unsafe and people's lives are at risk. Something needs to be done. I can't even buy an aftermarket updated part to fix this issue. Thank you!
My vehicle has a recall for a an ABS control module which affects, the ABS system, traction control, and cruise control system. The cruise control system will randomly turn off when the vehicle is at highway speeds causing a momentary struggle to keep control of the vehicle. The driver information display in the gauge cluster will randomly flash an error message with an audible "ding" which is highly distracting while driving. At times, this warning flashes every 3-5 seconds and lasts for 10-30 minutes at a time making it very difficult to concentrate on driving the vehicle. The traction control system fails when the message flashes which has been a problem on wet roads. The dealership has acknowledged the recall of the ABS module multiple times and indicated the manufacturer has not made a fix available for nearly a year. The issues with my vehicle are becoming more apparent and frequent every week. This is the second Ram 2500 I have owned that experienced a failure of the ABS module. I began to notice the issues with this vehicle in July of 2023 and the frequency has dramatically increased in recent months.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the traction control and cruise control failed to operate as needed. The alert for the ABS was inoperable. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated on the instrument cluster. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed HCU, and the pump and the control unit were replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was contacted on two occasions and informed that there was no time frame for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 72,205.

The 8.4 inch Uconnect touch screen is delaminating. This allows constant changes of most functions of the truck. Heating/defroster, radio, clock, Navigation etc all keep changing/beepinf/alerting on there own due to the defective u connect screen. This is very distracting and dangerous to drive status. The U connect keeps asking for the drivers attention. Constant changes and beeps to get the drivers attention and make selections on the U connect screen creates a crash risk. CHRYSLER knows this is an issue and will not do a voluntary recall. There is a class action lawsuit due to owners facing financial and safety risks. The truck is a 2018 Ram 2500 with only 16,000 miles. Stored in a climate protected building. There are many forums discussing this issue. 2018 Dodge/Ram products are well known for this safety defect.
Experiencing persistent ABS and Anti skid lights flashing on dash board along with persistent dinging, which has become very annoying. Took the vehicle to my nearest Ram dealership and they ran a diagnostic on it and told me that it was a faulty ABS/HCU causing the problem, but that there were no parts available to repair it. They said they would call and schedule an appointment to have it repaired as soon as the parts become available. I don’t know if I can wait much longer, as the constant dinging is very upsetting to my wife, who normally drives the truck.
The ABS and and electric circuit lights came on, on the dash. Then a week later my Transmission started acting up. I had it into the shop and they are saying the 2 are related. They have given me the paperwork showing how the code that comes up is from the recall and the paperwork showing it can trigger the transmission control module. The manufacturer made the recall back in December of 2024. They have yet to come up with a fix. Now we have a none drivable truck that has to sit until they find a fix. I am still making payments on this vehicle and they have nothing to say. We are almost coming up on a year, where is the liability?
First, I was not involved in an incident or accident with my vehicle. My concern is for my safety in the future while driving this vehicle. My RAM 2500 Power Wagon has a safety recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896 for the brake system but there are no parts available to fix it. I currently have an ABS caution light with a "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service Automatic Braking System" that constantly flashes and dings at random. I took my vehicle in to my local dealership and they told me there are no parts available and they were unable to fix the ongoing problem. I asked if my vehicle was safe to drive and they told me they cannot legally tell me if it is safe or not. There is no way forward to fix my vehicle and I haven't received any information other than "we are waiting on parts". With this being a safety issue, I would expect a loaner vehicle of a similar make and model. I do not feel it is safe to continue to drive my truck with these warning lights associated with an active safety recall. I am looking for advice or some help with this issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the trailer brake control failed to operate as needed while hauling a trailer. No warning light was illuminated. The contact diagnosed the vehicle with a trailer brake module malfunction. The contact was informed that the trailer brake module needed to be replaced due to low-voltage failures. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

While operating my 2018 Ram 2500, the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) failed suddenly and completely, causing the loss of: Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Traction Control This failure occurred without warning, creating an immediate risk of accident. The dashboard illuminated warning lights indicating system failure. The most recent diagnostic, performed by Einspahr Auto in Brookings, SD confirmed that the HCU requires replacement. Previous incidents with the vehicle involved intermittent failures of the same systems, indicating a persistent and unresolved safety defect. The dealer has not indicated when a permanent fix will be available. Due to the ongoing safety risk and extended timeline for repair, I am requesting a manufacturer buyback at this time. Stellantis has not provided any acceptable fix which does not impose financial hardship while the vehicle remains unsafe. Impact / Safety Concern: -The vehicle cannot be safely driven. -Significant risk of injury or property damage due to failure of critical braking and stability systems. Requested Action: I request federal oversight and that Stellantis provide a permanent remedy, including: -Manufacturer Buyback – Repurchase of my current 2018 Ram 2500 at 120% of the current market value; or -Manufacturer Replacement – A comparable vehicle with no unremedied recalls, free of the defect, and without additional cost Legal Assertion: I am submitting this complaint in good faith under 49 U.S.C. §30166 and related federal safety defect statutes. My HCU has failed and now I don't have anti-lock braking, electronic stability control, traction control, or cruise control. I have contacted Mopar and two Ram dealers in my area but they just tell me there is no remedy. This has been going on since December of 2024.
KEEPS FLASHING ABS. IT SOUNDS A BING NOISE THE WHOLE TIME I DRIVE IT. SINCE I DRIVE OVER 2 HOURS A DAY IT IS REALLY FRUSTRATING AND 5 HOURS ON THE WEEKEND. ALSO, THE RADIO CUTS OUT ALL THE TIME WHEN THE ABS IN FLASHING THE AIR CONDITIONING OR HEAT GOES FULL BLAST WHEN THE ABS IN FLASHING AND BINGING. HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS YET! I PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS TRUCK AND IT IS THE BIGGEST [XXX] RIGHT NOW!!! I REALLY WANT AN ANSWER ASAP!!! BEFORE I HIRE AN ATTORNEY TO SUE CHRYSLER/DODGE. In early December my 2018 ram 2500 was giving error messages to service anti-lock braked and service Electronic brake system. On December 19, 2018 I took the Ram to the dealer and the cause was the HCU-ICU stating internal electrical failure. They installed a new (Control unit HCU - brake- anti-lock module. It was fine until October 2024 when the same errors (service Anti- lock brakes / Service electronic brake system.) I received a RE-Call notice about the same module (HCU) having issues in November of 2024. I have called the dealership and they have not received a remedy (parts) to fix the issue. The error messages keep coming on Saying service anti-lock brakes- service electronic brake system. Its July 31, 2025 and Still no remedy from the dealership. I signed up on the RAM / Chrysler / Mopar website to be notified when a remedy is parts are ready however I believe it's been too long to wait and appears Im not the only consumer waiting on one. is there any way to remedy quicker I pull a travel trailer and don't want any failures although the dealer said the truck is ok to drive,
The trailer connector behind the bumper developed corrosion on the connector pins. This vehicle has always been in Arizona. No rain snow to make this occur. While pulling my 30 ft trailer home from the mountains the trailer brakes suddenly disconnected due to the pin corrosion. Had this connector been sealed like the ones in the engine compartment, the pins would not corrode. Driving steep mountain grades pulling a 30 ft trailer now became a major safety issue. Fortunately there was no incident arising from this. The solution is simple.... seal the connector. I have read about other individuals that have the same failure.
I have repeatedly asked the manufacturer and the dealership for a resolution to the antilock brake system failure on this vehicle. This issue has been on going for months and I have no resolution. This is Ram case management # 93024671. My last correspondence is as follows: Dear Stellantis Case Management Team, I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction and serious safety concerns regarding my vehicle, 2018 RAM 2500. This letter follows a delayed response to my initial inquiry about the safety of my vehicle and family, which I find unacceptable. Firstly, I request an immediate and definitive anticipated release date for the crucial part that is pending. The continued uncertainty around this essential component is directly impacting my peace of mind and the perceived safety of my vehicle, my family and the general public. Secondly, I demand a thorough explanation regarding the active fault code on a manufacturer safety device within my vehicle, which your company has inexplicably deemed "normal" and stated the truck is "able to be driven." This assessment is illogical and deeply concerning. If a safety device, such as the anti-lock braking system (ABS) or a similar critical component, registers a fault code, its integrity and intended function are compromised. My fundamental question remains unanswered: If a safety system with a fault code is considered "normal" and safe, then why are such sophisticated safety features like anti-lock brakes installed in the first place? If their compromised state is acceptable, why not simply remove the entire system? This reasoning fundamentally contradicts the purpose of vehicle safety design and creates an unacceptable risk for myself and my family. I gave them 7 business days to respond- there has been no movement.
Brakes went out abs/traction control/tpms lights on. Brake pedal goes to floor 50% of the time. Have to downshift and use engine brake to stop.
The backup camera is intermittent and faulty at times.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start as intended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

HCU has failed on my truck back in July of 2024 it was impossible to find a replacement part got a recall letter on November had abs track control, and cruise control loss repeated dinging sounds to service ABS and electronic brakes and most recently you can hear the brake pads slightly rubbing on rotors and can feel a little bit of resistance while driving down the road
Hello, I received my recall notice cb4 hcu component and in my notice it said my truck has already been fixed. My truck has not been fixed and I called fca 10 or 12 times about the issue and I have received 10 or 12 different answers and they still haven't fixed my notice on the recall. What else can I do to get the issue fixed. Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The GPS on the Uconnect radio has failed and the map, compass, and clock do not work. This is a know problem on this radio. The radio loses the ICCID number and the STAR TSB says to replace the radio. The issue is when I travel somewhere and need a map, now I have to look at my phone while driving. This is just as bad as texting. The Ram customer care says the TSB for this issue covers other vehicles but not the RAM truck. The cost to replace the radio is very expensive and I cannot afford to replace it. RAM truck will not help me out. What can be done about this issue. Lots of RAM truck owners are experiencing this issue. The issue started when my truck has about 3900 miles on it. The dealer in the Wasilla AK location was not able to troubleshoot this issue because they were short staffed. I finally decided to take it to another dealer located in Anchorage about 50 miles away.
ELECTRICAL BRAKE FAILURE WARNING
I have received an "Important Safety Recall" issued for my vehicle. In the notice, it states that "The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." I have contacted the dealership as well as RAM offices with no answer other than that the part is not available. As a safety issue, this is unacceptable. Please know that legal representation will be sought out.
WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF AND MESSAGE SERVICE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. THEN SERVICE ELECTRIC BRAKE SYSTEM WOULD FLASH AND BEEP IN MESSAGE CENTER. AFTER FLASHING ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES THE MESSAGES SELF CLEARED AND LIGHTS WENT OUT. DURING THIS IT IS HARD TO CONTROL THE TRUCK. CRUISE CONTROL NOT WORKIING EITHER.
Hydraulic brake unit failure. yes part is still available for inspection as it is still n the vehicle. I was driving to work at 21:30 hours on 1/1/2025 on a snow covered road. I gently applied the brakes and my truck went into a spin. I was going 25 mph. the abs unit failed and there was no pulsating in the brake pedal and rear brakes locked up sending the truck into an uncontrollable spin. my front left driver side of the vehicle then struck the jersey barrier and vehicle did continue to spin and then struck passenger rear side of the vehicle on the jersey barrier. currently has $17k in damages to the vehicle. I was not injured at the time but currently experiencing lower back pain. there was no lights or warnings on dash until immediately after the collision. I had the ABS HBU replaced a few months back and was told the new unit was part of the old stock and would most likely fail. which it did. unfortunately i am one of the people in this world who could not afford to not drive my vehicle as the truck was $70k new and i still am currently driving it due to not being able to afford to replace it of park it and rent a vehicle. The HBU has been a known issue in these trucks for the passed year and they just issued a recall on 12/08/2024. this problem was first noticed on 05/08/2024. was taken to dealer shortly afterward and was told that these are known to fail and currently no remedy to the issue. as of 01/07/2025 there is still no remedy or time on when parts are available for replacement.
The uconnect screen has de-laminated causing random messages and a beep. Must try to exit message while driving. This is distracting and unsafe while driving. The problem may go away after restarting vehicle. It is now happening every time I use the truck. Dealer has informed me that this a known problem, but no recall. Estimated cost to me to fix could be $1,000 to $2,000. Why is this not a safety recall?
HCU unit intermittently come On and off. Has the potential for loss of traction control and braking.
ABS and Traction Control lights come on intermitenetly and loss of cruise control. Says service ABS Control System. This is a very common issue and something that could easily cause a major accident in not ideal situations if not resolved quickly. The dealership has inspected it and confirmed the ABS Module is the culprit. This is obviously something that is common and should be investigated more.
Had to replace HCU/ABS module July 2021 due to failure and abs/traction control lights illuminated fault code C0020. Now November 2024 i am having the same problem with the HCU/ABS module abs/traction control lights intermittently illuminated with fault code C0020. In process of locating new module and scheduling for repair.
Abs service abs lights come on with traction lights keep flashing and ringing.
C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE continues to come up in my vehicle each time a bump in the road is hit. I am very concerned that this will cause intermittent or permanent loss of braking performance while driving and potentially endangering myself and other motorists. There are numerous complaints about this same issue on the internet with these model year trucks and FCA should be doing something about this inherent risk.
abs and traction control lights and alarms come on and off at very random times
My truck has 85000 miles on it. I have now experienced the ABS and traction control warning lights. They come on and off intermittently. The cruise control does not work when these lights are on. With all the complaints, its time Ram issues a fix under a recall.
Abs and traction control light goes on and off constantly. When the lights come on, traction control doesn't work, brakes don't worry as they should, and 4x4 doesn't work. Almost caused me to have a wreck in the rain with no traction control.
Hello, I have an Anti Lock Brakes electrical motor failure on my vehicle. The motor failed once at 20000 miles and failed again after a warranty replacement at 60000 miles. The part is on national back order for 2 years now and keeps the ABS from being fully engaged. It also disables cruise control and constantly dings. Two Dodge dealerships have confirmed the issue. The code is C0020-01
My brakes locked up due to the abs pump not working.
often experience noticeable braking issues. illumination of the ABS or brake warning light on the dashboard, indicating a problem with the anti-lock braking system. difficulty maintaining proper braking pressure, especially in emergency braking situations or on slippery surfaces, where the ABS should engage. As a result, the vehicle's stopping distance increases, and I have noticed a lack of control during hard braking. In some cases, the brakes feel soft or spongy due to improper hydraulic pressure regulation. Additionally, intermittent or complete loss of ABS functionality has occurred, leading to less stable braking performance.
ABS won't stay engaged causing traction control to not stay engaged and causes cruise control to not stay engaged. Skidding and loss of control are possible without ABS and traction control systems working. Loss of cruise control can cause rear impact from sudden slow down. Same problems are occurring in similar vehicles. Console chimes and ABS and traction control indicator lights come on. Message to service ABS system appears on console.
The ABS Light along with the EBS light were popping up on the dash every 2-3 seconds. My cruise control quit working. The truck is steadily dinging. The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) Traction Control warning light and warning bell comes on after hitting bump in road or just randomly. Anti-lock brakes no longer work and it is a safety hazard. this issue back at about 78,000 miles. This is an ongoing safety problem with Ram 2500's and there is no recall by the manufacturer for a known defective part.
Driving down the road and the radio randomly changes stations or turns on heated seat or heated steering wheel. It just depends what screen the radio is on.
The ABS and traction control light flash and sound repeatedly. As well as loss of trailer brake control. This is the second time the vehicle has done this. The first time I fixed it as Fam said it wasn’t covered by the warranty. I replaced the ABS module and HCU on my own dime. This is a major safety concern and should be treated as such.
ABS and traction control module defect. Dealer says repair not a recall.
Timely as my 2018 2500 seems affected. I've performed no troubleshooting but it is extremely intermittent, either the Service the ABS or Service the Electronic Braking System(s). Usually, a bump in the road makes it come and another turns it off. Sometimes it happens so quickly, only the message and traction control disabled light comes on, sometimes only the chime comes in. Sometimes the message stays up and the brake warning and traction control light comes on, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes a couple of seconds. Always goes away with an ignition cycle. If it's on long enough. For some period of time, it came in when I turned the truck on and off when I released the parking brake. Annoying.
Failure of abs / hec control module of abs /traction control system ...part has been on order for over 2 plus years only 15 k miles and failed .This would result in accident of abs not working properly .
UNKNOWN Service electronic ABS system light intermittently comes on and off hundreds of times in a ten mile drive. I am reporting this due to finding out that this problem is affecting many many other 2018 Ram owners.
Intermittent Electronic Brake System and ABS Failure messages. Been dealing with this issue for over a year now. Dealership told me I had to wait almost a year before there would be a fix and that’s if I’m lucky. The ABS pump motor and the software are both faulty and Ram is aware of how to fix it, and haven’t. There needs to be a recall for issue, ASAP.
It's clear that my abs module is bad but it consists of three components. Mopar online doesn't have any components available to fix the problem. And the Dealer is selling the components separately and telling you which one they will sell you first and also at a higher price than what's available to you online
SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM AND ABS LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD OR WHEN STOPPING. HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE PAST 3 WEEKS NOW.
Hydraulic Control Unit & ABS Module. 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 Bought truck new, the HCU & ABS Module parts failed issuing constant alarms on dash. Parts were replaced in April 2021 under warranty with approximately 22,000 miles on truck. Now getting the same alarms again and dealer says the Hydraulic Control Unit has failed again. Truck only has 47,000 miles and are in need of replacement again. Looking this up online and there are tons of reports with the same issue on 2018 models. Brakes should be covered in a warranty or recall, IMO.
ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT FAILING AND NEEDING TO BE REPLACED
Starting about a month ago, I started receiving a warning about servicing my electric brake system. Was very intermittent. Spoke to the dealership and they said if it wasn’t happening right then, they couldn’t read the codes. If the light went out, I could wait to bring it. Went on a trip, and it started happening more frequently, but still intermittently. I tow a 7-ton fifth wheel, which made me feel very unsafe. Sometimes happens moments apart, and sometimes hours apart, and it always knocks out the cruise control. Looking online, I found that this is a very common occurrence, and that I should report it. I did not have an accident, and tried to do my best to drive safely so I could get home.
Loss of break performance. Traction control and abs warning lights come on intermittently. This is the second time this has happened. Had abs module and hcu replaced once already.
the ABS light will come on while I am driving along with traction control turning off with a ding. While the warning comes on, the cruise control will turn off. It will turn on and off several time during a drive and will ding when it comes on. Very distracting and annoying and distracting. the dealer will charge me to look at it to find a reason. Truck has 37,000
abs light and traction controllight on
Traction control light and ABS light come on and go off intermittently will cancel my cruise control.A warning ding accompanies this.It does this frequently while driving.Electronic braking warning comes on the dash.
Currently I own a 2018 RAM 2500. I am the original owner and do regular Maintenace on my truck. The ABS & Traction control light flashes on and off consistently (Very annoying while driving). I have brought my truck to the mechanic and told me I have to wait on a part that is on "National Back Order".... No dealership has the part, and no website has the part. Only place to be found is on eBay used with no warranty they work, or proof they have been refurbished. From what I have been told it is the EBCM. I did research to try and find the part. No where has it, and nowhere to be found. This is where I found out it is a frequent problem over a lot of people. I see RAM has a recall for the same issue with 2019 & newer, but no recalls on the 2013–2018-year model trucks. This truck is my everyday driver, and I need it fixed....
ABS and TRACTION CONTROL warning lights appear and disappear. Timing of warning lights have no discernable pattern. Vehicle has had no collisions and only 120,000 miles. Vehicle will be going in for inspection at garage.
I purchased this truck new in 2018. I soon started having problems with very hard shifting and slamming into gear. It has been to the shop and diagnosed and continues to do it. They cant seem to fix it. My ABS lights and alarm are sounding non stop. This happened within 5 miles of my warranty being up. I did diagnostics and they wont cover it and want to charge me 1500 plus i have to wait 8 months for the part. This is an ABS issue and a safety issue! I also get the DEF failure notice telling me its going into limp mode. This has happened multiple times. I still only have 36k miles on it. I was told this ABS issue was now covered and the factory is doing extended warranties based on these problems. But the dealership says they know noting about it and that i have to bring it back in AGAIN to diagnose which i have to pay for AGAIN. I hate this truck and i have had nothing but problems and no one will help.
Service electronic braking system / service ABS light comes on and off when driving on on bumpy roads and when turning. It usually stays on which disables traction and it has cause me to almost spin out when accelerating in wet conditions.
Service electronic braking system continues to flash along with Service Antilock brake system--This is a failure of the HCU (hydrolic control unit) that should be a RECALL. Thousands of people are having the same issue.
Continually getting ABS warning and "Service electronic brake system soon" warning. Electronic Stability Control suddenly shuts off without warning to include cruise control if engaged. ABS and ESC lights remain on most of the time with constant chiming. This is a widely known problem. Recall just came out for later model years but not these.
Vehicle will display Service Electronic braking system randomly throughout driving the vehicle. The cruise control is not available when the code shows up. Also, the ABS and Traction Control lights pop up. The problem will shortly go away when I press the brakes all the way.
ABS service light was intermittently coming on and off for a period of time and now is constantly on. This results in constant beeping and also prevents the cruise control from working.
ABS needs service. Was quoted 2k from Dodge for repairs. As well as electric brake system not working Chrysler told me it is safe to tow my 10000 lbs rv with the errors and no ABS.
I bought my 2018 Ram Truck in 2019 new from a dealership. the first sign of a problem started at about 25,000 mi. It started sending tones with the message "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service Antilock Brake System". It would toggle between these two messages and sound warning tones while the truck is in operation. The first shop I took it to replaced my carburetor. That was not it. I then took to a Diagnostic Shop and the message from the computer read: ABS pump motor control general electrical failure. On the dash it also shows the icon for slippery road conditions. Looking on the internet i realized that this is affecting 2017's and 2018's. There are a lot, maybe all of them being affected by this potentially dangerous malfunction.
Constant on and off of abs and traction control due to abs module and hydraulic control unit failure. It’s a known issue by fca.
Truck chimes and says service ABS brake system and service electronic brake system. Traction control and ABS light pop on and off intermittently while driving.
ABS and traction control modules randomly deactivate leaving 20,000 LBS of truck and trailer without the ABS and traction control system to aid in emergency stopping. This is A KNOWN ISSUE to Ram who refuses to acknowledge and properly recall and provide replacement parts on some of the most heavily used tow vehicles.
ABS control module fault code. Seems to be a lot of people having issues with this on 2017 and 2018 year model trucks. A class action would be nice or some sore of solution for ram to make a permanent fix.
Second time my antilock brakes module has gone bad with 56000 miles not covered under warranty. Cost me $1700 to fix a little over two years ago. It went out again today and they said they wouldn't cover it. I have been reading about this and it's a major problem with many Ram trucks. I feel it should be taken care of on a recall and not having to pay every time it goes out. Ram knows this is a big problem and not doing anything but taking my money. Thank you
Two issues with my truck. #1. The ABS HCU was replaced under warranty once. I am now at 75k miles and it is doing the same thing again. Difference is I'm having to pay for it. #2. The Clock Springs has been replaced once already and now needs it again. I paid the first time and am now having to pay again!!! Absolutely not acceptable!!!
Hitting bumps causes an intermittent chime and notification alerting me that the Antilock Breaking System and Electronic Breaking System need service. Both the ABS and traction control lights are illuminated. I contacted my local dealer and they indicated that this isn't an immediate safety concern and is due to an electrical issue for which they haven't solved. They quoted me $1,600 for the replacement of the Anti-Lock Brake System Module and Hydraulic Control Unit. After some online research, it seems that this is a common issue with many resulting in total brake failures. A potential brake system failure should be a recall for obvious reasons.
ABS control module/pump very common problem with this year truck that Fiat/Stellantis needs to address.
Service Electronic Braking System and Service Antilock Braking System lights have been popping on the dash for the last two months nonstop at random times. Sometimes I can drive for hours and not see them, then other times they flicker on and off constantly. It’s very frustrating as my truck has only 27000 miles for a 2018. I’ve checked rear wheel sensors and found a tiny bit of metal shavings which from what I’ve read could be wheel bearings but still don’t know a for sure answer. I’m about tired of chasing down this rabbit trail. What caused this was I was backing my trailer and I started to spin a little and the lights came on so I clicked into 4x4 and lights stayed on. I turned the truck off and thought nothing of it and next morning truck had no lights on that day. But ever since then I’ve been plagued with them going on and off.
ABS pump motor control and anti-lock brake hydraulic unit is out again. first time replaced at dealer on 12/27/2019 second time8/10/2022 and now ABS light flashing again for about 3 weeks now with code c0020-01. This should be a recall it is very dangerous to be hauling heavy equipment with this reoccurring problem approximately every 20,000 miles or so.
The issue with the Electronic Braking System and ABS has worsened. The two warning lamps are almost constantly on, or rapidly come on and go off rapidly. If I'm towing a trailer, all braking is lost momentarily - brake pedal to the floor - including the trailer brakes. The trailer brakes do not return until an ignition cycle, if the warning lamps stay off, that is. The dealer says no parts are available, but won't even take it in for troubleshooting or attempted repair. This truck scares me. This has been an issue for about two years and 20,000 miles.
Abs traction control light
error code c0020-01abs/hcu pump motor control. i am one of thousands with the problem of getting abs and traction control lights flashing on my dash of my truck. it takes away my abs brakes my cruise control and the trailer brakes. i use my truck to pull a large trailer which has forced me to stop using my truck and it is now useless to me.please help us all and force ram to recall and fix our problem. my truck is a 2018 2500 and has 18,000 miles on it. and now i can not use it.
C0020 error code. Required replacement of ABS system's HCU (hydraulic control unit). Vehicle's ABS and electronic braking systems warning systems would flash. Loss of cruise control when the warning light came on. Vehicle lacked ABS made especially dangerous in wet road conditions while towing.
This complaint is the same as many seen by googling this problem. There’s a beep and then the ABS and traction control light come on. Message is given to service abs system. Then the message goes off and returns a few seconds later. this happens consistently during the driving duration. This only happens about every other driving session, but when it happens, it’s consistent. This is a known incident that is happening in 200s perhaps thousands of drivers. It sounds like a malfunctioning part to me, plus I have no idea if I have a real issue. I called ram care with no help.
ABS and TCS modules failing cruise control and abs unavailable when lights appear on dash. Vehicle not inspected by authorities or dealer at the moment will take to service center shortly.
ABS Pump Motor Control: General Electrical Failure code-C0020-01
My abs system is not working the ETC is not working was told this is because of the abs pump and abs computer. Most safety components related to brakes not working. There are over a thousand complaints to Chrysler about these trucks and still no recall. Please help.
Driving the vehicle the alarm dinged and the panel displayed service ABS system, service electronic breaking system. Would go off and on flashing intermittently
The "Service Electronic Braking System" warning comes on and off intermittently with an annoying "DING" while driving. It never stays on and always just comes on, DING, and goes away but repeatedly. It will eventually go away after driving a bit but then comes back unexpectedly. This also disables the Cruise Control. There are tons of complaints throughout the RAM forums and I see a lot of complaints filed here on NHTSA. The dealer is obviously very aware of the problem as the replacement parts are not available except for months of waiting, if at all. The dealership has not only stated the part is a long lead item and on back-order but it will be $1200 to $1600 for replacement and that part may fail as well!
The abs control module and HCU are faulty . No parts have been available for a fix. I have now been driving a truck in the north with no ABS , 4 wheel drive, cruise control or traction control. This truck is a hazard to everyone on the road but with no parts it’s hard to fix it. I only have one vehicle. Tons of people have the same issue and nothing is being done. Ram won’t do anything, stallantis wont do anything. It’s just crazy
Getting the Service Electronic Brake System, Traction Control, and Anti-lock Brake System. First noticed these alarms a couple years ago but they cleared by themselves. Sometime this 2024 Spring, around 70k miles these alarms started again. This time the alarms are nuisance going on and off multiple time a minute all by itself. Cruise control won’t work when alarms are on. When I checked forums, seems like there is a problem with these modules. The supply of the parts is a problem also. I ordered the parts from Mopar and after I paid for the parts and received an order number. The next day Mopar cancelled my order tell me to go to the dealer. Seems like Mopar is monopolizing these parts.
For the last 3 years the ABS and traction control warning lights come on and off intermittently. This occures every time the truck is driven. I have replaced the ABS control module and the Hydraulic pump unit with new OEM parts and this issue keeps coming back. Driving and towing heavy loads this truck is extremely dangerous (without a functioning ABS system). A recall is urgently needed!!!
On 8/10/2024 at 3.10 PM while traveling 68 mph on an interstate, the vehicle started displaying Service Electronic Brake System and Antilock Brake Failure warnings. This also shut off the cruise control system, causing a sudden and unexpected loss of forward momentum. The warnings would reset and then come on randomly while travelling.
Got an ABS fault for a corrupt hydraulic brake unit. So I replaced the unit at the cost of $200.. once replaced I still had an ABS light, traction control light, Brake light. Reading the codes it would tell me that both rear wheel speed sensors failed to compare. Ultimately I got a check engine light for wheel speed sensor 1 failure. So when I rest the code it clears the lights and I lose the speedometer for 25 plus miles. Also renders the 4x4 feature useless on the truck. I took it to the dealership on 8/8/2024 and they attempted to do an update to the ABS module. After the update I lost the speedometer again. I was told that the ABS module will need replaced at the cost of $600 plus labor and program time.
Driving in normal conditions .. even leaving my driveway ABS light comes on and traction control light comes on. and flashes randomly. Sometimes in doesn't come on for a bit but then will flicker on and off.
The electronic braking system/abs light/traction control light constantly comes on and off every few seconds when driving. Having intermittent loss of anti lock braking system is a hazard.
C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE
ABS braking Module and hydraulic control unit on this vehicle has been replaced under warrenty twice (in 2020 & 2022), vehicle now has 59K miles now and ABS has failed again, dash warnings are constant and cannot be turned off. Failed while driving from MO to FL last weekend
Abs light and traction control light continue to turn on and when they light up my cruise control stops working
ABS notification light and traction control light keep beeping.
2018 ram 2500, abs and traction control light came on and front driverside brake locked up cause me to lose control of the truck. Almost hit 2 other vehicles. Now there's a loud grinding noise and seems to be not drivable. Vehicle was towed to my local dealer this morning 7-29-24 (kendall jeep ram chrysler). Was told by a service advisor that I could possibly be a faulty abs module but they do not have any available diesel technicians available to diagnose at the moment. Might be serval days or weeks before they can troubleshoot.
Abs light and traction control light come on and off- sometimes stays on and sometimes fluctuates. Been a constant occurrence
The systems in question are the ABS and Traction Control Systems on my 2018 Ram 2500 6.7L 4x4 Heavy Duty. This vehicle has had issues from the beginning with these systems as the first repair took place at 10,640 miles at the dealership it was purchased from. This took care of the codes/lights for a short period and was covered under warranty but the same issue persisted not too long after mileage-wise. The next time this issue occurred was when the truck had 22,628 miles, the brake fluid was flushed in an attempt to correct the ABS light but was unsuccessful. The truck was then brought to another repair shop to correct the same issue again where the ABS Hydraulic Module, ABS Control Module, and the brake fluid were replaced at 23,702 miles at the sole cost of the owner. As of early July 2024, at 45,000 miles the lights have again started intermittently coming on stating there is an issue with both the ABS and Traction Control Systems and must be serviced. After reading through multiple forums and speaking to other owners, this seems to be a common occurrence and needs to be looked into by the NHTSA due to major safety concerns. Although there were no accidents or police reports in this case, this malfunction poses a major safety hazard for the driver, passengers, and others on the road if a recall is not issued. There should be no reason a $60,000+ heavy duty premium truck consistently has these issues with no accountability and/or repercussions held to the FCA group. My personal concern is for my family as this is our primary vehicle and living where we commonly have inclement weather, if the ABS and Traction Control Systems fail randomly during a storm, this has a high potential to cause major injury or death to both our family and other drivers on the road. Not to mention the potential cost of collision damage to the vehicle(s) and/or other person's property.
Abs control module & HCU module not working properly. Ram brand knows about these problematic modules on the 2014-2018 rams trucks. Now, I can’t drive my truck since Ram fixes this issue.
ABS and Traction control warnings intermittently go off and sometimes stay on for a while. This causes the truck to not have abs and traction control. Had a bucking issues sliding down a boat ramp yesterday. Truck is under 40,000 miles. This is a well known issue for years now.
Anti lock brake module repetitively fails. First one replaced 7/2021 with 51,xxx miles. Second failed 7/2024 with 69,000 miles. Loses ABS system, cruise control, electronics affect electronic throttle and stabilitrack.
Service ABS and traction control warning keeps going off. Cruise control kicking off.
I have replaced the HPU 2x's and currently the ABS warning light comes on. I have a RAM case #86697757. This is going on for a year and the dealer says parts are unavailable for repair. The truck has 24,000 miles on it.
ABS lights flash on and off while driving constantly. Affects concentration and cruise control. Radio will randomly start pressing all over the screen changing settings and distracting the driver.
Abs system failed and had to brake hard causing the wheels to lock up and lose control of the truck ,lost speedometer, brake lights, 4x4,cc,trailer brakes
Several systems suddenly were disabled, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Front & Rear Park sensors, Tire Monitor system as well as the cruise control that may not be considered safety. The truck only as 11K miles. I have not been able to reset the system and the noted systems are inactive. I will contact the dealership but am bracing for a less than supportive meeting. From what I've read this is a very common failure on this year and model truck
My 2018 Ram 2500 has 85,000 miles currently. At about 80,000 miles I got the ABS and Traction control warning lights along with dash messages to check the ABS amd electronic braking systems. I am a heavy equipment mechanic and thus checked the systems myself with a scan tool and other test equipment. I found that the ABS module has an internal electrical failure resulting in power not being supplied to the ABS pump/electric motor. I have verified that the pump works and has about a 48ohm resistance. If supplied with 12v and ground to the motor it will come on. Circuit testing from the electrical plug to the contacts for the motor one pin has contact and the other is an open circuit. I also have one seized plunger in the hydraulic control unit that is actuator by the motors eccentric lobe on the output shaft. After doing some research online I've found this is a very common issue on the 2017 and 2018 Ram heavy duty trucks, the 2500 and 3500 model specifically. I also found that neither the hydraulic control unit nor the ABS module have been available for purchase for a long time. I myself have been trying to order one for about 6 months. No dealer in my area can even give me an estimate time of availability. So currently I and many other have to drive a vehicle with a failed ABS system. This poses a greater risk of collision and unsafe braking. It is also a requirement to be working to pass a vehicle inspection so selling the vehicle or depending on state lived in you may not even be able to drive the vehicle at all.
July 11, 2024 Message alert appeared indash with instructions to service ABS system. This vehicle experienced the exact same issue in April of 2022 and was taken to the dealer(Patterson Dodge-Tyler,TX) for repair, where the ABS Module was replaced. The replacement was not covered by the warranty.
My ABS light sporadically comes on and off. Dealership says it is the HCU module. It was replaced under warranty in 2020 and now has failed again. Wanting to file report so it is noted to help with initiating a recall on this failing part. I have read that the ABS module has also had similars issues with no recall as of to date either.
ABS and ECS warning indicators are continually coming on and going off. I have read many complaints on Ram forums that are identical to mine.
The truck's warning lights indicate ABS module, HCU module, and cruise control failure. The trailer brake controller, ASB system, and cruise control does not function. The truck's warning lights and chime have been going on and off for over 2 years.
abs light and traction control light would come on intermittently while driving then stayed on causing cruise control to not work. been happening for over a year
ABS light and traction control light comes on – says service electrical break system and antilock brake system
ABS Hydraulic Control Unit intermittently malfunctioning while driving causing service ABS system warning to display and render ABS system along with Traction Control System and Stability Control inoperable. HCU electronic motor removed and internal inspection of brushes and motor components conducted. Inspection identified brushes sticking in guides causing intermittent contact with center shaft of motor. New HCU ordered 28 June 24.
Service ABS braking system keeps appearing intermittently along with traction control and ABS lights illuminating on instrument panel. NO RECALL for this problem has been issued and parts are expensive to replace. Please direct manufacturer to fix issue immediately. Thank you for your mission to ensure the safety of others!!
ABS Service light flashes on after rainy days and or going over a bumpy road.
ABS and Traction control light indicators on dash appeared intermittently. After diagnosing from the dealership, it is advised to changed the Antilock Brake System module. However, the dealership advised there is a block and that they must first change the Hydraulic control unit, although they say it is perfectly fine. While we have not had an accident (luckily) it appears there is an ongoing investigation and multiple lawsuits against Dodge/RAM/Chrysler for this systemic problem of faulty ABS on 2017-2018 Ram 2500/3500. My 2018 RAM 2500 only has 36,000 miles. This failure is premature and potentially very dangerous. The dealer could not advise whether my truck was safe to drive or not even if the indicator lights were off or on. I have not yet had the HCU replacement completed, however will have it completed next week. I am submitting this incident report as a pro-active report as this is a serious safety issue and one that is systemic across too many 2017-2018 Ram 2500. The manufacture is not allowing replacement of the ABS Module until the HCU is repaired which is an additional (Double) cost to the consumer.
Purchased vehicle new. ABS and TC lights presented on dash intermittent. Cruise control inoperative when lights on. Had issue under warranty and had components replaced to resolve issue and now happening again. Afraid to have family in vehicle with inoperative safety systems.
Abs module/hcu are intermittently shutting off and on. Brakes work, but you loose your abs. The problem has not been fixed . The abs module is on back order everywhere. It’s a hard part to find new or used .
CONSTANT & iNTERMITTENT system notification (Dash lights and chime tones) of required ABS serving, Traction Control failure, and DISCONNECT of Speed Control system. The problem has been on going for past 15,000 miles. NOTE: Took vehicle to RAM Dealer in Kerrville Texas and they determined no problems despite dashboard messages and lights. Dealer states that they are NOT aware of ANY issues with ABS and Traction Control on any of the 2018 RAM 2500 vehicles.
ABS and traction control lights come on intermittently. Cruise control won’t work when this happens. Problem seems to be a wiring issue and mainly happens during wet conditions and then stops after engine compartment warms up. I’m guessing ABS brake’s won’t function when light is on.
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. THIS TURNS THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL OFF. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SEVERAL COMPLAITS.
Automatic electrical braking system failure while towing.
ABS MODULE HCU MODULE Has failed, cruise control doesn't work, Dinging is non stop, Everytime I hit a bump it goes on and off
The service abs and service electrical brake system flashes on and off, dings. Occurs at all speeds, in town driving seems to make it ding worse on and off on and off Some days it doesn’t hardly do it, some days it is non stop. This prohibits the use of cruise control also, with a faulty braking alert the cruise aUto disengages From looking at dodge forums this is a very common issue in 2018 2500 ram trucks. A friend of mine who has the same truck is currently also having the same issue. No one but dodge can read the code or make a repair or even get the parts. They are covering up the issue I believe. You can find tons of people complaining of this issue and dodge needs to issues a recall. [XXX] [XXX] 2018 Ram 2500 [XXX] 2018 Ram 2500 Both having same issue conway ar I’ve talked to a local shop and they said they have seen several with it but their scan tool won’t tell them anything the software is blocked by ram. I have found enough info to know what parts are required to repair it but you can’t get the mopar parts anywhere but dealer. On average this is costing people 1600-2000 for the repair of the abs module [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
ABS, traction control, cruise control, 4WD works intermittently ABS and traction control warning flash, wile ABS light is on you can not use traction control ABS system does not engage and cruise control is inoperable. Seen by dealer (benson CDJR) in April and June of 2023 and parts to repair were NOT available. Being seen again as new part is currently available to be repaired 4/6/24. After 1 year of not being able to find a solution for the problem. I have slid on sharp turns, got stuck wile pulling camper due to no 4wd among other issues. Contacted RAM regarding replacement assistance and they denied due to after market warranty. I am still responsible for 250$ for a repair that should have been a recall for Sevier safety concerns by RAM
The ABS / HCU ELECTRICAL BRAKE SYSTEM HAS THE SENORS BLINGING AND WANT STOP. Done had this truck in the shop 4 times fir this same problem it quits and starts back but now its on all the time.
Service Electronic Braking System warning lights random comes on and off every time you drive it.
ABS and Traction light on dash. Chiming of alarm. This alarm turns off cruise control and feels like it applies the brakes at 70 mph. Lots of brake dust accumulating on my rims. It happens some days but not every day. Some days there is a constant alarm chime and cruise won't activate. On 10/24/23, parts weren't scheduled to be released until February 2024. Charged over $100 diagnostic fee for the ABS, traction control lights on the dash. By looking at other reports, this has been an issue for several years. They have known for over 2 years that there is an issue. Why is it taking so long to get a fix in place? ABS is a safety system. This should be a recall. The recall should cover replacing the brake pads and rotors also.
While driving, ABS system warning lights illuminated accompanied by intermittent alarm. ABS System Failure confirmed by selling dealer, further confirmed via Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) TSB notice "C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE." This TSB particularly confirms/advises both the HCU and the ABS be serviced / replaced. The original pump motor is no longer available and per dealer is being re-engineered due to defect. This failure is a significant risk to the vehicle operator, passengers, and the general public and should be remedied immediately at the manufacturer's expense via NHTSA / FCA initiated recall.
Service electronic braking system / ABS service antilock brake system. Both these lights come on and ding, half a second later they are off. This happens non stop, looks like everyone is having this problem. This should be a recall not a $1200 fix. I only have 58,252 miles on my truck. This problem for me has been going on and off for 2 months.
The ABS pump motor control circuit has an electrical failure. The truck's safety is at risk of incident without the help of the ABS system. The problem is persistent as the ABS warning lamp and Service Electronic Brake System message pops up every time the brake is applied. The dealership recommends the part be replaced.
The ABS control module is not working. This turns off the anti-lock brakes and I have nearly hit someone when the brakes locked and skid across the intersection. The consistency beeping and vehicle message block the information screen. I have been waiting for over a year for the parts to be replaced. It is a shame that new vehicles safety systems doesn't work. The part is 68347098AA the replacement 68347098AB or 68347098AC is not available.
Hitting bump or random moments (intermittent). The ABS module comes up with code C0020-01 for ABS Pump Module General Electrical Fault. Truck loses ABS, Traction Control, as well as Cruise Control. Vehicles Odo is 7284 miles.
ABS and Electronic braking system lights come on and off. No codes. Reading about it and there are thousands of cases across the US. Something has to be done. Definitely a safety issue.
Service electronic braking system Notification and ding won’t stop going off. Truck has less than 50k and through my research this is a common issue with this truck. I don’t want to drive it anymore fit safety reasons. Bought the truck 2 months ago and have had an issue since I purchased it
Intermittent alerts related to service ABS light on the dash along with Traction Control light. Seems to disable ABS when the fault light comes on, also disables cruise control during driving when the service alerts flash on the dash. Constant beeping of the alert is a major distraction. Truck has 26,000 miles in it. Dealership said ABS module and HCU need to be replaced but parts are on back order until August but are not positive when parts will be available. Why is this not a recall?
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), and while driving at various speeds, the head unit became pixelated and would appear and disappear without warning. Additionally, on several occasions, while driving at various speeds the radio, A/C, and car phone were turned on and off inadvertently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the head unit needed to be replaced due to it separating. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60, 000.
Mileage: 60,000
The ABS and anti skid lights on the dash come on and off sporadically. The pump and module have been replaced. The problem did not occur for awhile. Now it has started over again. It seems harder to brake since the problem has started.
The ABS Service Antilock Brake System messages comes on intermittently and chimes every 2-3 seconds. Some days the message and chime does not come on, but it is usually the day after the truck has been turned off for a period of time. The issue started on 16 March 2024, I still have the issue today, and it happens at any speed. After doing some research, I found that many of the same year and model truck has had the issue, and it seems to be the Antilock brake module Electronic Control Unit and or Hydraulic Control Unit. I contacted the dealership to see if I can get the issue repaired under my extended warranty, but the part is on back order. The vehicle is available for inspection, but I haven't had a chance to take it to the dealership as of yet.
The abs light and traction control light comes on intermittently which is caused by the HCU. Could cause a wreck
The ABS/EBS errors lights comes on and cruise control won't work. Did some research online seems like a common problem. Hoping to see a recall by Ram.
The anti-lock braking system, traction control and speed control system continue to flash on and off. While driving here in Huntsville, Alabama it snowed and my braking system failed causing me to nearly crash.
Abs light and traction control lights went off causing the truck to throw C0020-01 error. Dealer suggested replacing HCU and ABS MODULE
My 2018 RAM 2500 has 30,176 miles on it. Two years ago the HCU and module controlling the ABS system failed and was replaced. When the system fails numerous lights and warning chimes activate and the cruise control stops working. The system has failed again and the dealer tells me it will take 45+ days to get the parts necessary to repair the ABS system. After researching online I discovered an open class action lawsuit against FCA for this problem. I also discovered that this is a common problem with 2500 and 3500 RAM trucks after reading owner forum sites but so far no recall has been issued by NTHSA. This is a major safety issue for owners and needs to be fixed.
The ABS service light keeps coming on and beeping. It will go off after a little while but then returns intermittantly while driving. Apparently this is a known problem and should be a recall. Many owners are wasting thousands of dollars for repairs that should be covered by a recall.
The component or system that is failing or malfunction is the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) and ABS module. The malfunction is turning off my ABS and TCS system, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. Also the ABS and TCS dash lights are constantly dinging and going off and on distracting me while I'm driving. This issue is well know with the dealer. Here is a TBS from 2020: RAM TSB S2005000004 The vehicle has been inspected and and the ABS module was already replaced, but didn't fix the issue. This has been happening since I bought the truck.
My truck has right at 80,000 miles. Every so often I get two dash lights. One is ABS service and anti skid warning. They randomly show up. They pop up very quickly then go away. But it happens non stop. I have done some research and it seems that there is thousands of people with the same truck and year model with this same issue. I went to the dealer in Seguin, Tx and they told me that there was really nothing I could do to fix the issue, unless I wanted to wait eight months. But the new part rarely last. They flat out told me to not follow any one too close because hard braking could fail without anti skid working properly. RAM needs to make this right. I can’t believe that there has been this many people complain about a serious safety concern and nothing has been done.
Warning light to service the Electronic Braking System came on. Has been intermittent since. Contacted dealer and the HCU needs replacing. Vehicle is under mfg extended warranty. They claim part not covered. There are hundreds of complaints about this along with a class action lawsuit filed last year in CA. Brakes may fail without repair. 4WD will not engage since warning light came on. Lawsuit alleges Chrysler knew of this defect before selling. I have scheduled a replacement of the unit for 3/1/2024
The truck last year started flashing the ABS and traction control lights. On the screen it says I have to service my braking system. As soon as that warning comes on, I lose traction control and it’s awful to dry in snowy or wet conditions. The truck just hit 28 thousand miles. I contacted the Ram dealership and they are aware of the issue but stated there is no recall so they’re not addressing the issue.
The abs/traction control message goes off intermittently. The truck dings and beeps from the dash with a message that says “service abs”. This is a known issue with this yr/make truck.
Service electronic brake system code came up. Brought it to the shop and they said it’s a known issue with this year model and ram is aware. Told me it’s a $2500 fix. I feel that a safety issue that is know and I had to fix myself is not fair in its self not safe!
Abs General Electric failure. I don’t have traction control or abs and I live in the mountains where these systems are necessary. Very unsafe and parts aren’t expected till June 2024
The truck constantly has an ABS Module and Stability control failure/ code turning on and off causing the ABS/ Cruise Control/ Traction control to no longer function. Research shows that the ABS Module and Hydraulic control unit need to be replaced and programmed by a dealership and parts are nearly impossible to find
ABS and EBS warnings, traction control warnings repeatedly turning in and off. Code - C0020-01. Cruise control inop when lights/chimes are going. This has been going on for nearly 8 months.
Service Antilock Brake System Service Electronic Braking System Illuminated warning lamps. Impacts Braking and cruise control. Started 10/2022, and appears to trigger randomly and frequently.
I have been having antilock braking system and electronic braking alerts come on the dash of my 2018 Ram 2500 for a couple months now. I have tried to have it repaired at the Pohanka Ram in Salisbury, MD in which I was told that the ABS module and HCU unit were under "engineering review" and all parts would not be released to repair. I also confirmed with the Lakewood Dodge Dealership in Seaford, DE and IG Burton Ram in Georgetown, DE. All 3 dealership report the same issue that RAM will not release the parts for repair. I have a truck that is an obvious risk on the road, and will not pass Delaware motor vehicle inspection in March when my tags end. I have seen that there is a class action lawsuit and a huge amount on owners reporting to this agency. This is huge issue and is affecting a large amount of people that own 2017 and 2018 Ram trucks.
The truck flashes service antilock brake system, service eletronic brake system. It cancels the cruise control on truck. On several occassions it shuts off cruise while on the interstate. You have to react very quickly to avoid having an accident. A couple of times its happened while pulling a travel trailer and nearly got rear ended by semi truck. Thats really scarey. It started about 8 months ago. Have contacted dealer and was told by service department that they know of about 2000 trucks has same issue. The parts are out of stock and back ordered. I think this is a real safty issue. Dont know what to do about this.
Hcu, hydraulic control unit, no abs, no traction control, no cruise, no 4x4 and emergency brake light on won’t go off and part is not available been waiting for over a year and a half
Got in my truck one day and my ABS and Traction Control Lights both came on, as well as a notification in my central dash advising to service electronic brake system. At first the lights where intermittent and random. I could start the truck and the lights would be off. Apply the brakes to put in gear and the lights would come on. Drive down the driveway and a bump would turn them back on and pressing the brakes would turn them off. Now the lights stay on permanently. The ABS error code I got was C002001, or ABS pump general electric failure. I called several local mechanic shops and they reported to me that this is a known issue, parts are on backorder. I called the dealership, was advised the same with the addition that Dodge/Fiat, not only new about the issue, but changed upgraded the part and gave me the new part number, which is also on back order. Knowing this vehicle is a diesel and is designed for towing, which is why I bought it, to pull my trailers and equipment, the brake system is vital to stopping the vehicle for my safety and everyone around on the road. If this is a know issue across the nation, this needs to be addressed.
ABS and traction control lights came on. The dealer said that it was the control module. It has been replaced. There were no braking problems but concerned that it would eventually be a problem.
This vehicle has faulty or defective ABS braking system. The warning lights and warning chimes have been constantly going off for approx. 2 years. The Dodge/Ram dealerships admits that this is an industry wide defect with 2017 and 2018 Ram 2500 trucks, but say they have no parts to correct the problem. Their suggestion to me was to buy a new truck which is not acceptable or affordable. This was identified by both the dealership and Chrysler as being a safety issue with no resolution from Chrysler or dealer. I use vehicle to transport my grandchildren and livestock and truly doubt my ability to operate safely without the Federally required working ABS system. This is truly a safety issue and an immediate recall is necessary. Ram/Chrysler will not correct issue without recall. I am limited on the use of my vehicle but have no choice as it is my only transportation, thank you.
I have replaced the ABS/HCU 2 times as of 1/1/2024. I am currently waiting for the 3rd one. The ABS system is unreliable and dangerous during the time of waiting for parts availability. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle in 10/2023 and has been unable to get parts to repair the problem.
Abs and traction control light going off and on causing abs and traction control to be disabled. Safety issue being able to control vehicle if had to get on brakes hard Problem was able to be reproduced by the dealer and this has been replaced once before on the truck while under warranty, Component has been inspected by dealer and found faulty on November 16 2023 but informed it would be late January 2024 before they would have parts, now it is late January and they say parts are in the development phase and would be late June or July before they might have the parts. Concern is have a 2018 truck with just over 32000 miles on it that has had the same issue twice and they can not fix, Advised by dealer and ram customer service that they advise not to drive truck, but they will not loan a truck during this time but could rent one at my expense
I get a warning that flashes on the dash multiple times every time I drive stating that I need to service the electronic braking system. This warning is also accompanied by the traction control and ABS warning lights. The warning and lights do not stay illuminated and flash on and off several times during the course of even a short drive and the warning bell sounds every time as well. At minimum this is a huge distraction when driving and even worse I do not know if I can trust the brakes in the event of an emergency stop. I looked at fixing the issue by replacing the ABS and HCU units, but those parts are back ordered well in to 2024 now. Reading on various forums, this problem seems to be pretty common, but as far as I know no recall has been issued by Chrysler.
Since incident, the messages continue to appear in my dash. "Service Antilock Brake System" and "Service Electronic Braking System", flashing on and off erratically. I talk directly to Mopar which is overseas, and they tell me it isn't covered because its under the basic warranty which has expired. I asked them to send me the documentation so I can see it in writing and they said they cannot send it or show it to me and that only they can see this information. I am concerned that they are not being honest with the warranty coverage because my five year/100,000 expires in June 2024; and ironically they said the ABS part isn't available until June.
Electrical warning for electronic ABS Braking System and Module to include traction control. Initial evaluation at Dealership on 10/25/2023 Since then, the parts have been order, but unavailable through the dealer or through the Customer Care team at Dodge. Multiple phone calls, emails, etc., and still the parts have no estimated delivery. No solution has been offered by the Dealer or by Dodge and the truck is unsafe to drive.
Code C0020-01 appeared. ABS pump motor control- General electrical failure. Problem occurred in heavy snow storm. Traction control would not work, anti-lock brake system would not function. Brakes locked up causing vehicle to skid.
Electronic Braking System Needs Service Error that can't be addressed at the dealership.
I had an intermittent abs/traction control light that now stays on 90% of the time. Code C0020-01 for ABS general electrical failure.
The truck developed a warning light for ABS / Stabilitrak needing to be serviced. Ram dealership replaced an ABS Pump, but the issue came right back. They are now saying it needs a new control module at great expense, but that they are unavailable currently. Delivery on the part has been pushed back continuously over the last 12 months, still no parts. This issue causes a regular intermittent digging and warning light in the cab, disables ABS, disables Stability Control, Disables Traction Control, and Disables Speed Control (Cruise Control). This issue has been ongoing for 8+ months at this time with no developments from Ram and the vehicle in an unsafe and compromised condition.
Service anti lock braking system and electronic brake system code constantly coming on. This is an apparent safety issue that Dodge needs to resolve. After much research, I’ve discovered that there are many, many complaints of 2018 Ram truck owners having the same problems. Thanks for all your assistance.
Electronic Braking system failure affecting the ABS system, Traction control, and cruise control. It puts the safety of everyone in the vehicle and on the road at risk because the ABS and cruise control will fail causing an unexpected adverse conditional that can lead to an accident. This is a known problem for RAM and their is no fix at this time other than making the customer pay out of pocket for the broken parts to be replaced with the same parts that will fail shortly after. There needs to be a recall and a permanent fix from RAM
ABS and traction control lights keep turning on and off. Truck currently has no ABS.
Brakes when depressed do not pull equal. No cruise control. 4 wheel drive is not working properly. Traction control not functioning properly Have brought vehicle to a garage. Abs/hcu unit is the problem.
ABS and Traction control has been lost and have created a safety risk especially during inclement weather. The ABS pump or the ABS control Module is faulty in multiple years Ram vehicles. I believe based on forums there is a recall issue with these parts.
Radio keeps going out and turning off, and then comes back on with different stations. Next is my outside mirrors on both side , heater to mirrors don't come on at all to defrost
I’m receiving two codes; Service Antilock Brake System and Service Electronic Braking System. I met with my mechanic this morning and he said that this is a very common problem with the 2018 Ram 2500. Since this is a reoccurring safety issue i feel that Dodge should resolve not the owner. Should I get in an accident from a break failure who is responsible?
ABS and Traction control lights keep going on and off, this still continues and it looks like Ram knows this is a safety issue. Dealers have no parts for repairs
The HCU in which controls your ABS and Traction control will malfunction while driving down the road when this happens you have no ABS, traction control or cruise controls. The dealer part is unavailable through the dealer due them saying that they are reviewing it. This is a major safety concern due to the fact if you are traveling and it malfunctions and need to stop quickly you cannot or if it malfunctions and have cruise control set to a speed it will slow you down and can cause an accident. When vehicle was carried to dealer and asked what to do the dealer just said to drive it and don’t follow to close to anyone, that is not the answer that needs to be given.
The display in the center console keeps asking if i want to update the clock. Nothing stops it from constantly popping up…going off… popping up. Truck only has 25000 miles
Traction control/ABS illuminated on dash board as error codes. When driving at any speed the brakes are grabbing the rotors without touching the pedal. The feel is like tapping on brakes. I've replaced wheel bearing hubs for ABS speed sensors, replaced all speed sensors. Replaced the ABS MODULE and HCU MODULE and to no avail. Chrystler has had the main components on backorder. The error codes are targeting both components ABS and HCU. The Ram community has the same concerns as I do. This issue should be recalled because the ABS and HCU prevent from fish tailing and erratic traction
ABS Brake system failure. Multiple reports of ‘17-‘18 yr models with exact problems.
ABS/TRACTION CONTROL intermittent alarms. Vehicle alarms on and off constantly. Dealership has said they have no fix except replace all ABS electronics for about $4000.00 and can not guaranty it will work. This constant alarm turns off the Cruise control.
Truck throws code C0020-01 and my ABS and traction control lights on dash board start to go in an out. Proposes a HUGE safety risk. Truck has 48,000 miles which puts it out of the warranty that covers this issue. Lots and lots of info online about this being a common issue and RAM has yet to recall it still.
Intermittent ABS / traction control light and dinging! 49000 miles. Just like every other person complaining about the same exact issue on 2018s. I’m a disabled vet with a family of four on a single income. I can’t afford a 1200 abs module that lasts only 1-2 years. Clearly this is a major manufacturer issue, experienced by many Americans. This needs to become a recall. This is [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
abs traction control light abs brakes dont work
The abs and traction control keep going in and out and is very unsafe to drive such a large truck. I called dealership and they don’t have the abs module and haven’t had it for over a year. So they know it’s an issue and can’t give us any since manufacturer is at fault. My abs and traction don’t work. Thank you
The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) issue is present on my vehicle. The problem is intermittent and occurrences cannot be predicted, duration fault varies, sometimes repeatedly cycling fault/no fault/fault etc. When the fault occurs cruise control is either canceled (if active) or not available. Occurs at varios speeds. Please refer to NHTSA's open investigation (NHTSA Action Number: PE22012).
Vehicle showing Electronic Brake System as well as Antilock Brake system and traction control system not working. Pinging all the time, currently 165,000 miles on truck. Same issue was dealt with on 8/15/2020 with 39512 miles on truck. Was an out of pocket expense for $927.10 to fix this very important safety related issue. The cruise control is also affected by these messages and will not work. This is known issue around the country with these trucks and something must be done. If folks don't have money to fix or parts to get fixed we will just drive these safety hazards down the highways and jeopardize ourselves and others. What is your fix to this known problem because you all obviously are not correcting the issue for the known problem.
Hcu system failed now trucks and system is messed up, can’t use cruise control and nervous too drive the truck for safety reasons. Dealer says it could be months for a new system
Service electronic brakes, traction control, and service trailer brakes light stays on.
The ABS module is defective on my truck which controls the antilock brakes, Anti slip function, and the cruise control. Dealer ship has diagnosed problem and ordered parts but the parts have been on back order for quite sometime with no ETA from RAM when parts will be available. My dealer ship says they currently are wating on 25 parts for different vehicles with same problem.
At around 74,000 miles in December of 2023, a warning to "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service Antilock Brake System" started to show up on the screen of my 2018 Ram 2500 6.7. The truck was taken to a Ram dealership and the fix to the problem was determined to be replacement of the ABS module in addition to replacement of the HCU. Apparently, the ABS module is faulty and is causing the HCU to go bad so both need to be replaced. Replacing only the HCU will not fix the problem. The truck has not yet been repaired as a new ABS module is not available until June of 2024. When driving, the on screen errors come up frequently at all driving speeds and the error is present the majority of the time while driving.
ABS/Traction Control warning alarm constantly going off, and affecting cruise control.
ABS system and traction control lights turn off and on intermittently. ABS pump and module have already been replaced and issue is still happening
ABS/HCU is a known issue for failure. Mine is intermittently flash alerts for service/problems. 1000’s of people are having these issues. Where is the recall? This is a safety issue, is it not.
Failed parts . #1 abs module #2 steering box & intermediate shaft #3 balljoints .available anytime for inspection? # 1 risk brakes locking up or soft pedal #2 steering wheel back and forth to stay on highway #3 knuckle fall off failed balljoint all causing an accident.. all independent shop for all components. Dealer for steering ?? Abs traction lights
Got a code for service abs system, abs module pump bad. Ram cannot even get people in to fix the issue and they want like 2000 dollars out the door to fix this unsafe issue. I also have no cruise control now and no abs. This is an absolute shame that my truck only has 66k mostly highway miles and is now worthless because I cannot afford to fix it. Ram will not fix this issue under warranty. There is a current lawsuit under James Neu vs. Fiat Chrysler to get them to make this a warranty issue and fix it. Please please please release the recall so we can get our trucks fixed! Thousands of trucks are affected and at risk of accident. Thankyou please let me know if there is any hope in the future of this recall. I don’t know if I should just wait it out or get rid of the truck [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
As with thousands of other owners with this model of truck my anti-lock control module is bad. The malfunction causes the anti-lock brakes service light as well as the traction control service light to be on. This malfunction renders both systems to be inoperable, thus causing a major safety concern.
ABS & traction control lights on along with messages reading "Service Antilock braking system and Service Electronic Braking System. 1st intermittently then very often. Code C0020-01 is stored in the system via OBDII scanner. It is available for inspection at any time. I can not tow anything that requires trailer brakes because I here, through many other online complaints that trailer braking will be inhibited. I have not yet taken it to the dealer yet because it is out of warranty and the part required to fix it properly won't be built/available until Feb 2024. I first saw warning lights/messages in July of this year 2023 with around 37,000 miles. See attached pics.
The ABS and Traction Control lights flash and ding on/off intermittently. Sometimes the lights on the dashboard come on as soon as I leave the driveway and sometimes it takes several miles. But once they flash on and ding on the dashboard, the lights flash on and off intermittently for seemingly no reason at all. I am not sure if this is due to an electrical issue, a hydraulic control unit issue, or something else, but something is not right, making the lights and dashboard flash/ding a lot.
Abs control module had went out twice in 3 years and hydrolic unit causing brakes to fail
Took my Vehicle to dealer for abs and traction light displayed on dash. Dealer states my truck needs a new HCU and control module. At 28,000 miles these same parts had to be replaced for same issue. The truck now has 63,000 miles. To top it off abs, cruise control and 4x4 does not work or quits working when this warning is displayed. It’s absolutely ridiculous how many ram 2500-3500 owners are having this issue over and over. I would hope you all will step up and demand a recall be performed.
Traction control and abs warning lights flash on and off intermittently also cruise control not working when this happens. It is sporadic
The truck intermittently shows an alarm for failure of the abs braking system. This suddenly shuts off the cruse control and disables the abs. The loss of cruse control caused the truck to suddenly drop in speed in a highway traffic situation, which nearly caused a car behind me to hit me. The loss of abs leaves the truck vulnerable to brake related accidents in slippery or wet weather. I contacted a dealer for the replacement parts and they told me they would not be available until a new generation of abs module and hydraulic control unit were available. I believe the NHTSA should demand a recall for this extensive and dangerous issue.
My ABS module and HCU are acting up. Warning lights on dash keeping going on and off intermittently stating service Anti Lock Brake system and Service Electronic Braking System. Traction Control loss warning light accompanies these lights. I have had the module replaced twice already and still not working. Was told yesterday (Dec 07,2023) by warrant repair facility that there is a new upgraded part available and to file a complaint. These problems started in October of 2023.
The radio screen has delaminating which causes random pushing of buttons on the display. This is a known issue with dodge radios and has been labeled as “ghost screen”. This is a major concern during the day as well at night while trying to drive. The distraction from the constant screen changing is a major concern. It is unavoidable to focus on the screen instead of the road while this is happening. Dodge knows of this problem and the repair cost is unaffordable. I feel for the safety of drivers and people on the road, this needs to be addressed. I have videos of this occurring but am not able to upload videos, only photos which do not show the event happening. I would like the chance to be contacted so I can share the video of this happening to express my concern, as well as the concern of many others. Thank you
ABS Module Failure. Truck is available for inspection upon request. The ABS Module Failure directly effects the safety of all occupants and other vehicles on the road if not able to stop as intended to. The problem is confirmed by a dealer. There were no warning lamps until the ABS Module failed and needs to be replaced. This is a standard issue that needs to be recalled.
Abs module is out again. Second time in just over a year since I replaced it last time. This is an ongoing issue and numerous people locally are complaining, so national has to be thousands. Ram is aware of the issue but not fixing.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS and Traction Control warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the ACU, causing a general electrical failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 50,000.
Mileage: 50,000
ABS light and traction control warning on dash. Truck has been in shop previously for the same issue. This causes my truck to lose cruise control at highway speeds and to not have traction control capabilities when driving on wet roads. I will be taking the truck back in to the shop this week as this is occurring at all times and does not stop dinging.
ABS and traction control lights are on, scanned and got code c002-01. Unsure if system is working. Verified by shop, needs a new hcu but none available to fix, no time line on when parts will be available.
ABS and traction control light are intermittently flashing.
Had brake module replaced under warranty at the dealer and less than 10k miles later it’s doing the exact same thing again. Abs is not working, alarm constantly chiming while driving and abs and electronic brake malfunction lights coming on in the dash. Truck still has less than 48,000 miles on it cause I’m scared for my family’s safety so we just don’t drive it anymore. Is a shame we have a truck we can’t use that we have paid for for this long and still can’t use due to a safety concern that the dealer won’t repair again cause the time limit has expired on the parts warranty.
Service abs system immediately popped up on information screen, also abs and traction control lights all at the same time. This disengages cruise control and removes digital speed reading. Almost got tailgated.
Purchased truck and abs light is on that disables abs and traction control. Which in turn won’t let you use cruise control
This is my 4th HCU/ABS Failure. 3 Priors were replaced/reported in FEB/March to NHTSA. ABS / HCU System Failed. My safety was directly impacted. Various warnings and lights on the dash lit up with "Service Electronic Braking System". When the ABS / HCU system has an issue, it deactivates the cruise control, ABS System, traction control, and parking detection system. This can cause a sudden and unexpected deceleration or loss of vehicle control, as the traction control system also shuts off without warning. The dealer is able to verify the issue. I have taken the truck to the dealer, who is reporting a part shortage and multi-month backorder for the part. This is a huge safety issue, and could have killed me and my children. This should become an immediate recall since it directly impacts the safety features of the vehicle as well as the cruise control system, which may suddenly deactivate and cause sudden deceleration. Various warning lamps display. BRAKE, ABS, Traction CONTROL.
ABS light and Traction Control service alert light on dashboard. Second time this has happened. I had this issue prior and had Ram replace both parts that needed to fixed and was not covered by Ram. This/ these are faulty parts and Ram needs a recall. There are thousands of Ram owners that have the same issue and Ram refuses to acknowledge and recall these parts/ issues! Please help us!
"Service Antilock Brake System" & "Service Electronic Braking System" error messages are popping up on the dash on and off while truck is running. Sometimes pop on after starting the vehicle while sitting in drive and other times while driving.
Anti-lock brake / traction control lights come with audible chime. Message reads service anti-lock brakes and service electronic brakes. Problem is intermittent with light coming on for a duration then going out and clearing message center. At times, the warning lights turn on and off rapidly giving multiple audible tones. Activation of light causes deactivation of cruise control. At highway speeds - rapid deceleration occurs. Unknown if the anti-lock brake or traction control will function while light is on. This will be the second time this issue has occurred. First time repair was covered under warranty for same issue. Diagnostic’s performed at authorized Ram dealer (10/27/2023) (Approx. 48500 mile's) indicates issue with Anti-lock brake control and Anti-lock brake module. Remedy - replace defective parts with: 68143491AB Control: Anti-Lock Brake 68347098AB Module: Anti-lock brake Total cost to repair: 1478.25 Dealer states that no factory warranty on this repair. Parts not available until February 21st 2024
While driving the truck my ABS, Traction Control and red brake symbol come on the dash as a warning. The vehicle once this happens no longer can utilize cruise control nor its ABS system during hard braking. This problem began intermittently and has become permanent. Dealerships are unable to get parts for repair.
I am getting an ABS sensor warning that was previously fixed 3 years ago under warranty but is now resurfacing. It is a constant alarm that prevents the cruise control from engaging.
Intermittent dash flashing of ABS and "service electronic brakes" messages tied to known HCU/ABS module fault/failure. C002-01 code. Driving over light bumps trigger lights on/off. Dealership told me to ignore lights and code.
When I had to use excessive pressure on brakes, I received a DTC and a messaged flashed on my display to service ABS system as well as TCS. I had the DTC read which showed C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical. It was cleared but when I drove over a speed bump at my kids' school, the same message displays. The message has also displayed during wet weather and minor wheel spin (over white painted crosswalk lines) from a stop. I spoke to a technician from the Chrysler dealership and was informed this has become common and to file a concern here.
ABS Control Module causing ABS light to come on, consistent audio warning, and disengages Cruise Control function. Currently being diagnosed by Dodge dealer the ABS Module and Hydraulic Control Units failing internally. Initially it was very seldom, and now is constant.
Service ABS light comes off and on sporadically. This is a known problem through out the country and needs to be addressed by a recall.
Trucks and electronic braking and traction control randomly quits working.
Vehicle started flashing “Service ABS Braking System” and “Service Electronic Braking System” intermittently. There is no rhyme or reason and no way to make vehicle reproduce this at will.
ABS light and traction control light comes on all the time and when lights comes on curse control stop working, by lights coming on all the times don't feel safe to drive truck.
1. ABS/Electric Stability Control service antilock brakes lights flicker on and off. 2. When ABS light is on you could lose control of brakes due to possibility of wheels locking up. 3. Went to the dealer twice to correct the problem and still having the same issue. 4. The vehicle was inspected and worked on by Ram Dealer. 5. No warning lights before failure.
Intermittent ABS and traction control lights. Service lights come on and go off when braking or driving over bumps. Code C0020 - ABS Pump Motor Control General Electric Failure. Issue is so random I haven’t taken the truck to a service center.
Abs problems due to HCU
I keep getting warning lights for ABS problems. Saw there was recalls for the 2019-2022 and saw there was a class action law suit for the 2018 models.
Continued failure of hydraulic control unit (HCU) and Anti-lock brake system (ABS) module causing fluctuations in brakes at times (have to press harder on brakes) and lights go on and off, sometimes staying on for lengthy periods (usually on highway) or while driving and disables the cruise control. Second time in just under 3 years (fixed in Nov 2020 and reported to dealer Sept 2023), same issue on parts both time, fix identified as faulty HCU and ABS module as dealer identified issue and placed order for parts (5 month backorder to Feb 2024 as apparently very common issue with these trucks). The issue is both the change in brake sensitivity due to this part failure and the sudden cancellation of cruise control, the braking impacts the braking performance and cruise control drop out causing sudden drop in speed on highways.
Abs/traction control errors Alarm keeps coming in and going off This is the 3rd time this truck has had the same issue
ABS, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ON, DEFECTIVE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. SECOND TIME IT HAS GONE BAD, WARRENTY THE FIRST TIME, NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, NEED TO LOOK INTO A SAFETY RECALL.
Whenever it rains or is high humidity, my dashboard lights up and repeatedly chimes with ABS lights and Electronic Braking System error. The error repeats itself on and off again every few seconds. It is a dangerous distraction of error messages. Since it is raining, all traction control and ABS systems deactivate themselves with this error. I spun out this morning due to the error. It is absolutely dangerous. This is the EXACT error that occurred on my previous Ram. This is a dangerous faulty hydraulic control unit (and ABS system). Upon a little research, I found tens of thousands of posts of owners being stranded or driving without ABS / traction control due to this malfunction. This is deadly and needs to be recalled. RAM is aware of this issue but has not issued a recall. It is raining today, and my RAM will not have traction control or ABS. This is unacceptable. This is affecting tens of thousands of owners. With upwards of $1,600 for a repair. Yet, the part can create a fault AGAIN within weeks or months. DANGEROUS.
Braking failed on vehicle, manufacturer refuses to provide repairs parts nationwide on all Ram 1500,2500,3500 trucks
Hydralic control unit is bad causing on dash safety alert for service electronic brake system alert and anti lock brake system alert. When towing will not have brakes to assist in stopping tow vehicle. The alarm constantly going off distract your attention from the road. Upon going to the dealer for repairs I was told they are on national back order and may not be available until after the 1st of the year. It apparently a widespread issue with all 2017 and 2018 Ram 2500s. I am unable to tow my 38' 5th wheel camper for fear I will lose my brakes on the tow vehicle putting myself and others at risk. The anti lock brakes not functioning properly could result in losing control of the vehicle when road conditions are wet or slippery. This loss of traction put me and other motorist at risk. Ram know there is a problem with the HCU. My understanding is they have had to completely re-engineer the part and as such has created an availability problem for anyone owning these vehicles. There are several blogs and forums online describing this as well as a class action suit initiated by the state of California. Would appreciate you looking into this matter and getting Ram to do the right thing. Thank You
The ABS and traction control indicator lights come on and off intermittently. This is a huge safety concern has the ABS and traction control may malfunction. This issue has been brought to the dealer and they replaced parts less than two years ago. It has reoccurred less than two years later.
Abs traction control light has been going on and off since truck has had 15000 miles dealer replaced abs pump still has issues light is intermittent when it comes on cruise control shuts off truck now has 53921 miles on it and the dealership doesn’t know why light goes on and off
2018 Ram Sept 23, 2020 at 15,000 miles ABS light flashed on. Code said pump electrical failure. Dealer replace under warranty. Oct 12, 2023 at 50,900 miles, service ABS notice flashes on screen. Dealer confirmed ABS failure but said parts were on indefinite back order. Said last one took over a year to get parts in.
Intermittent warnings of ABS system needing maintenance while driving. No known cause or correlation to type of road/weather conditions. Intermittent ABS failure affects ability to use cruise control. This started when the truck was at 52k miles. This has been happening for over a year now and we have been told that there is an indefinite timeframe for repair due to massive back orders.
ABS service light coming on, and service electronic brake system keeps coming on. Recall on 2019-2022 RAMS for same issue. Told to report issue here.
The ABS and traction control systems on our 2018 2500 RAM truck are failing randomly, and the warning lights are coming on. The cruise control system is also randomly failing. Therefore, as we drive the vehicle and using cruise control the vehicle will randomly turn off the system causing safety concerns. The braking system and traction safety systems are not working properly and safely. The cruise control issues have been occurring for about 2 to 3 months. Over the last 1 to 1.5 months the ABS and traction control systems have started randomly failing and turning on the warnings lights and bell. We took the vehicle in for service today at the RAM dealer and was informed that the parts are backordered and unknown when any parts would be available. The dealer confirmed the systems are not functioning properly and provided written estimates and summaries of their findings. The dealer advises to replace the HCU and retest the system. The dealer advised to replace the steering wheel wiring and cruise control switch. The vehicle mileage at the time of the dealer evaluations was 23,052 miles.
Anti Lock brake system and service electronic brake system message keeps going on & off every 30 seconds & will shut down cruise control if it is engaged. Happened in 10/11/2021 & now 10/8/ 2023.
My truck has the same issue as many thousands of other RAM owners. The forums are full of people with the same issue. It clearly is a faulty part/design or similar. My "check ABS/ Traction Control- Brake light" turns on and off intermediately all the time. It is an issue many have had and had fixed for between $800-1,000.00. For your reference here are some links to forums showing this issue in fact a OEM problem. Apparently there are class action law suits going on in Texas and California over this matter. [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] There are many more. RAM should have to furnish a recall and fix this issue at no cost. Parts are not available until February of 2024. This is a safety concern!! This issue will not allow the use of cruise control or remote start. Winter is coming and im not sure the ABS works as long as the light is on. RAM needs to supply parts faster than Feb 2024 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
the abs module and the hydraulic pump have a issue that turns on the abs and light and turns off the cruise control and reverts to non abs braking due to faulty module and pump assembly that was changed already and now the wont cover this under any warrenty known faulty part
Intermittent ABS light and Service Electronic Braking System lights coming on and off. Appears from previous reports this is a known issue that has been going on for years now with this vehicle and should be fixed. I purchased a new hydraulic and electronic module from dealer at around 35000 miles and replaced. Issue was fixed or so I thought, at around 70000 miles lights are intermittently on and off again. No known issue was contacting ram direct, dealer I bought vehicle from stated the electronic module is backordered and has already been replaced with another part number, I believe it was a faulty replacement from the get go. Hydraulic module was said to be under engineered testing again per the dealer. Extremely frustrating from the customer end, no cruise, no abs braking capabilities. No known deaths to this point linked to this specific issue to my knowledge but I wonder if Ram will move a little faster on the fix or recall once they have something fatal on their backs for this.
ABS/Trac lights ding constantly with the dash displaying "service electronic stability" or something along those lines. ABS system becomes inoperable as well as kicking your cruise control off. Very unsafe and parts are not available for repair as well as Ram not taking recall action up to this point.
ABS / TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON IN THE DASH. CRUISE CONTROL INOP. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, IN FACT 2019-2022 TRUCK HAD A RECALL ISSUED. RAM NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS SAFETY ISSUE
ABS module failure, brakes can potentially lock up causing you to slide. Preoblem has been verified , but has not need inspected by manufacturer (on my vehicle). And there were no symptoms, light came on as soon as it failed
Electronic Braking System and Anti-Lock Braking System has intermittent failure and any speed. The safety of those in the vehicle are at risk by unsafe braking and unpredictable braking. Warning signals turn on and off while driving. Started to appear around 44,000 miles.
The ABS and Traction Control lights constantly come on, even after replacement HCU and ABS parts are replaced. It’s a once a year fix, and should be recalled. Once the lights come on, braking is affected, and cruise control no longer functions. I used a previous date, because I need to replace the parts again, for the third time. I have asked Ram support to just send me the parts, and I will do the repair, but unfortunately, they prefer that I continue to pay the dealer to repeat the same repair over and over.
The truck consistently flashes a warning for “Service Antilock Brake System” and a scanning tool provides the code C0020-01. The truck was evaluated at a local mechanic, who indicated the code represented a general ABS system failure. I have researched the issue and found that this problem is a common complaint with 2018 Ram 2500s.
The abs and traction control light are flashing on and off SEVERAL times especially when on a rough road. It kicks my cruise off and sometimes stays on which locks the diff and disengages any ABS functions resulting in the loss of braking performance and capability.
C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control Electrical Failure.
I have approximately 86000 miles on my truck and today the Service Electronic Brake system warning starting coming on and off. Along with the ABS light and traction control light. Randomly flashing on and then off. Staying off most of the time. I did a search and apparently this is a huge issue with these trucks, a couple of electronic assemblies melting together and going out. This needs to be a recall that Ram pays for. What happens if my brakes go out?
ABS and Traction Control code warning lights appear intermittently on instrument panel stating “service electronic braking system” and “service ABS system.” These indicators flash consistently on the IP but do not stay constant currently. Failure of these systems could result in loss of control of the vehicle during emergency breaking by allowing the tires to lock up during breaking. Code has been verified by Champion Chrysler Jeep in Brighton Michigan as “ABS Pump Motor Control.”
Keep getting “service anti-locking brake system” and “service electronic brake system” that intermittently turns off and on. 2018 Ram 2500 6.4L with 81,000 miles. Appears to be a common issue but no recall has been made.
ABS HCU/and pump failure. Truck dies. no Brakes
Service ABS system/ Electronic break system warning light came the dash control. When that happened in September of 2020 I lost traction control and cruise control on my truck. Since this accrued I’ve had several near misses of accidents do to lose of ABS system. I have not had it looked at by the dealership due to the fact that two family members have the same truck with the exact problems. They took their trucks into dealer. The 2021 was fixed under warranty and the 2017 truck was repaired out of pocket to dealership.
I have a 2018 Ram 2500 - 6.7 Cummins diesel, The service ABS system and service electronic brake system dash lights come on and go off constantly. Every time they come on there is an alarm that goes off, and it also kicks the cruise control out. This problem started had around 32,000 miles and has continued to now 71,000 miles. I have tried multiple times to have this, diagnosed with a system reader with no luck. Have had the system reset also with no luck. I’ve read on multiple Dodge/Ram forums that this is an ongoing problem with 2017-18 and up Rams that they refuse to address. Any information would greatly be appreciated to get these problems resolved as it appears there are multitudes of people having the same issue. Thank You Note: The mileage on the pictures below is not when the problem started, these were a picture of the lights that I could catch in between them coming on and going off so I could show the mechanic what was happening.
The ABS module is bad. Can not drive the vehicle for fear the brakes will fail, especially when pulling a trailer loaded with animals (farm). This is ridiculous, a $86K vehicle with less than 40K miles (we have not driven the truck in over a year) because of a faulty part that the company will not own up to. PLEASE have MOPAR/RAM/Chrylser own up to this faulty part and issue a recall ASAP. When the brakes lock up and someone dies, that will be a real issue. Sincere thanks,
ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE RAM 2500 YEARS 17-18. I PULL A TOY HAULER WITH 2 MOTORCYCLES IN IT. THIS IS A 28 FOOT TRAILER. I DID NOT NOT GET IN AN ACCIDENT BUT I HAVE NO TRACTION CONTROL OR ABS AT THIS MOMENT. TIRES WILL SPIN VERY EASILY IN THIS TRUCK IN THE RAIN. HAD THE BACK END STEP OUT LEAVING WORK CROSSING TRAFFIC AS I HAD NO ABS INTERVENTION AND IT WAS COMING OFF OF A BIG HILL. THE DEALER SHOULD BE COVERING THIS. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD THE ABS UNITS ARE ON BACK ORDER TILL FEBRUARY WHICH MAKES PERFECT SINCE BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL FAILING. HOPEFULLY BY THE TIME I HAVE MY APPOINTMENT THIS WILL BE COVERED AFTER READING ABOUT THE LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM. APPARENTLY THEY RECALLED THE 19-22 VEHICLES FOR THE SAME ISSUE.
The ABS light came on and went off intermittently, which also disabled the cruise control when the light was on. Eventually the light stayed on. Most recently the start button quit working properly. We have had it at the dealership twice with no results. We have talked to the dealership many times and been getting the run around. The latest was today and was told the parts are back ordered until 2024. They have not given us any paperwork because we do not have to pay. We also have and had the radio (main computer) replaced a couple of times and the screen still blinks randomly.
ABS/traction control sensor issue. I believe it to be a faulty sensor or sensor connection issue which is causing my service brake light to chime and light up at every bump in the road. While driving even just a short distance my service brake light/alert chime goes on and off sometimes every 2-3 seconds and while driving on the freeway my cruise control disengages every time the brake warning pops up. Upon researching this issue I've found thousands of Dodge Ram owners complaining of the exact same issues and dealerships are suggesting they know nothing about this problem.
ABS system failure, recirculation pump failure, code C0020, Ran off road while ABS and traction control was off during wet conditions. Unsafe to drive due to safety failure on ABS.
Lights on won’t go off
ABS module or HCU bad. Anti lock brakes not working. Cruise control not working. 4WD not working. Caused issue driving with a load when ABS did not engage and almost rear ended another vehicle.
C0020-01. Electronic Braking System and stability control system continually go in and out of alarm kicking the truck out of cruise control suddenly. This was repaired once under warranty by replacing the hydraulic control unit at 40,000 miles and it is now doing the same thing again at 90,000 miles. This is a significant safety issue as it prevents the use of cruise control and turns off the stability control system on the truck. The parts to repair the system are not available due to them being in “Engineering Review” until 2024. The only guidance from Ram was to continue driving the vehicle until parts become available.
SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM NOTIFICATION TURNS ON INTERMITTENTLY, CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK DURING THIS TIME
ABS module
ABS warning light goes on and off at intermittent times. Message says service ABS brake system. This truck has not been inspected yet but there is a class action lawsuit and NHTSA investigation on-going for this problem.
Similar to the 2019 & newer Ram HD recall for the ABS electronic control module, my 2018 Ram 2500 has the same issue. It was recently diagnosed at the dealer in August 2023, but due to the abundance of impacted trucks, the dealer estimates that replacement parts will not be available until at least February 2024. While I wait for the repair I have no ABS, traction control, stability control, or cruise control. I drive the truck approximately 750 to 1,000 miles per week and have a 3,000 mile vacation planned in October. This translates to driving the truck approximately 15,000 to 20,000 miles without the above noted safety features. I believe my truck should be added to the recall, and RAM needs to step up and provide faster repairs.
In October 2012, my 2018 Ram 2500 had issues with the brake module and ABS system. The truck had 49000 miles when the system intermittently displayed messages to service ABS system. A trusted local mechanic checked and found a service bulletin about the issue. I had him replace the brake module and master cylinder. I then had a Chrysler dealer reprogram the module. My costs was approximately 800 dollars. Now it is summer of 2023 with 65000 miles and the same issue is occurring. I think it is time for Fiat Chrysler America to step up and make these repairs. It is dangerous to have this situation. It affects cruise control, four wheel drive, and of course negates having ABS. I need this truck and cannot afford to park it.
ABS TRACTION CONTROL BRAKING ISSUES AND DANGER. ONLY HAS 24K MILES GARAGE KEPT
My ABS and traction control dash lights came on and lost cruise control while towing my RV. I fear of someone rear ending me when loosing CC. The alerts intermittently go on and off.
ABS light and traction control light came on. Upon scan tool the code was general electrical failure of ABS system. I call my local ram dealer and they inform me of multiple failures of the HCU on 2017 and 2018 ram trucks. This is a safety hazard for my self, my family, and others. Theis desperately needs to be a recall on the ram trucks. This is very dangerous. Also the ram dealer talks of at least a 6 month lead time for this part.
I purchased the subject vehicle in NEW condition in September 2019. On April 2021 the vehicle ABS lights came on and off. The mileage of the vehicle at that time was 16,538. I took the vehicle in to get serviced by ANCIRA Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership and the HCU PUMP was replaced. I have the service invoice that has all this information. On August 20, 2023, the same lights came on. The vehicle now has 48,000 miles on it. As a part time mechanic, I conducted a diagnostic test and found that the error code is the same as the initial incident, which is Code C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRIC FAILURE. The vehicle no longer as a warranty and since there are no available parts available for repair, I have no choice but to drive this truck putting myself and my family in danger. The vehicle is available for inspection if needed.
ABS traction control, light code c0034
The abs module and abs pump has failed for a second time. Anti lock brakes do not work or traction control with lights on in dash The message appeared 2 years ago. Bought the parts and dealer fixed it. Now the message is coming up again.
My ABS and Traction control lights activated visually and with audible alarms. I brought it to the dealer. It only has 23,000 miles on it with a manufacturer extended warranty. The dealer told me that the ABS pump motor control as well as the HCU has failed and need to be replaced. They also told me that the parts are not going to be available until the EARLIEST February of 2024. The vehicle is not safe to drive without these safety systems working especially towing. They told me the parts are under Engineering review. They suggested I park the vehicle until parts are available. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! I have looked at owner forums and this issue is common and needs to be addressed by NHTSA and the vehicles recalled due to safety.
Service ABS system and traction control light continually flashes on and off. Does not allow me to use cruise control and it also turns off my ABS which is unsafe.
My vehicle keeps throwing up a service ABS and service electronic braking system intermittently and the braking system is greatly diminished. Vehicle has been inspected and the replacement parts for the breaking system are on national back order without a recall open.
My ABS / Electronic Stability control warning lights keep coming on intermittently and also sometimes staying on for hours at a time. I cannot use my cruise and my ABS will not work with these problems making this a very dangerous truck to drive. I have read that there are many other trucks with this issue. More specficially the 2017-2018 Ram 2500's. I believe there should be a recall for these parts as this is a intergral function in these HD trucks.
Abs HCU failure. This is a know common issue and yet no recall. THIS IS NOT SAFE
Abs lights are coming on and off I took to a shop where they told me it's known problem and parts are on backorder
Service electronic braking system message, ABS light and traction control light are on. Code:C0020-0. ABS HPU problem. This is an obvious issue with these year make and model of trucks.
The abs and traction control lights stay illuminated on dash. No abs, traction control, or cruise control. Abs module looks to be the problem
Faults for the ABS (anti-lock brake system) and EBS (electronic braking system) have been coming on intermittently for a couple months. Now the faults are permanently on indicating the ABS and EBS needs serviced. The fault code is c0020-01which indicates the known malfunction involving the anti lock brake system module and anti lock brake system control. While these faults are present the cruise control also doesn’t work. This is a well documented and known issue with certain model years Ram 2500 and 3500. My truck had approximately 57,000 miles when the faults began.
ABS light comes on screen along with traction control. Immediate loss of cruise control while traveling 70 MPH pulling 10,000 lbs on a highway. If brakes go on that everyone's safety on the road is at risk. I have not had it to dealer but have had a mechanic put his code reader on it. Warning lamps for this were the ABS light and traction control light.
ABS and Tracton control
my vehicle and hundreds of other owners are having bad HCU/ABS units that turn OFF the ABS and traction control on our ram 2500's.
Abs/ traction control light comes on and off lose all cruise control. Get code c0020-1.
At around 50,000 miles the ABS light started coming on. This affects traction control and speed control. Dealer said it was the ABS Control Module and is a known issue but not a recall. Finally repaired at my cost of $ 1,103.32. st 57,377 miles on 9/13/2022. Less than 12 months later it is doing it again on 7/29/2023 at 69,649 Miles. This seems to be hazard as the ABS does not work or traction control. Also cuts off the cruise control when it occurs.
The abs pump and module are bad and there is no replacement parts available through ram. The truck only has 32k miles. They say the parts are on back order. The truck has no abs function nor does it have vehicle traction control. This should be a recall as it’s happening to thousands of trucks. This is a blatant safety violation. Yet the new trucks are still being built with these parts that are somehow not available.
Intermittent Abs Failure. Kicks off cruise control and looses ABS brakes and traction control. Very dangerous. Lost this ability while pulling my RV Camper on wet roads. Went into other on coming lane do to sliding and skidding. I guess this is a very well known issues with no recall or information from Mopar\ Ram to the owners. This almost killed me My wife and my 3 year old grandson.
My 2018 Ram 2500 6.4l is experiencing intermittent ABS, traction control, electric braking warnings on the dash which affects cruise control once alarm is active. This issue seems to be globally.
Vehicles touch screen becomes unresponsive to touch and skips around screen turning items and censors on and off while driving. Seat heaters have turned on and off on boiling hot days, radio stations switch back and forth, volume has gone up and down, parking censors have been turned on and off while driving, radio has called random numbers and people while driving and while waiting for truck to prime and start. The problem has progressively gotten worse and skips around more with every day that passes. Vehicle has been to the dealership twice for this issue. The dealership said it has become a common problem with the touch screen for this vehicle and doesn't know why it's not a recall. This is a huge distraction and $1800 replacement which is not an easy random add to a budget, meaning most will deal with the distracted driving and probably cause and accident. This will not let me submit the video and pictures I have in the formats requested. Please email me and I will send them.
Message comes up to "Service electronic braking system." Code found was C0020-01 (ABS pump motor failure). Couldn't order part due to engineering review. Truck only has 20,400 miles. This part cannot be worn out. Should be a safety recall.
ABS Module and HCU Failure. No ABS or Traction control which could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. There have been several complaints filed but no recall issued. The same part (same part numbers)was recalled for 2019 and newer trucks.Service brake and traction control system lights on. Parts on extended back order.
Driving, hit 40,5xx miles and ABS and traction control light was flickering on and off. Kept getting warnings to service ABS and Electronic Brake System. After 25 miles of on and off flickering and chimes which were extremely distracting, it turned on and stayed on permanently. I do not have ABS, Traction control or cruise control. This is a known issue with the 2017/2018 models, and Mopar does not cover it even though it should be a recall. Thousands of people are having this issue, and dumping thousands into it all for it to just break again in 10/20k miles. The ABS modules are complete junk
Hello, I have been having issues with my 2018 Ram 2500. The Service Traction Control and ABS lights on the dash have been flashing on and off constantly. Along with no Cruise Control when this happens. This has been going on now for about 3500 miles. I am still driving the vehicle due to being my only work truck. I have been doing some research along with talking to the Ram Service Departments and have noticed that this is a very large safety problem that is highly known about that is not being taken care of. Even the service manager I had spoken with is amazed that this has not been a recall. This should most definitely be a recall and should be taken care of before more people get injured or killed.
ABS hydraulic control unit failed. less than 25k on vehicle. dash message to service and ABS and traction lights as well. bumps and hard braking seemed to cause this to happen, but originally happened as driving as normal. vehicle was rendered uninspectable by dealership and part was ordered . called chrysler and was told this is a known problem without a recall at this time.
As of 07/10/2023 vehicle Display saying "service electronic braking system" and "service ABS" intermittently. Vehicle is available for inspection. Vehicle has 46000 miles on odometer. upon further research this is a very common problem involving the need to replace the ABS module and HCU to fix the issue. there is a class action lawsuit on this matter. Estimated repair cost is $1700. Failure of these components can cause injury or death. Vehicle is not recommended to be driven with these component failures.
Truck has 67,000 miles and is currently at the dealership for the 3rd time with hydraulic control unit and antilock brake system modules needing to be replaced. Service ABS and service electronic braking system lights constantly blink and alarm is chiming. Dealership says part is on backorder with no ETA.
ABS lights flash on the dash, electronic braking system fault, traction control flashing. Intermittent. Research shows replacing HCU will resolve, I will order the part and repair myself but this should be a covered recall since it is a safety concern.
Reporting back-up camera glitches and/or blanking mirror screen! This can cause serious damage or injury to persons or property and even fatalities.
Consistent and predictive Failure of Anti-lock brake control module (68143491-AA /68143491-AB) in 2018 Ram 2500/3500 Trucks. Nationwide shortage of OEM Replacement Parts leading dealers to hoard exclusively for customers for whom repairs are to be made. Extremely difficult to find a dealer willing to sell brake control module, if they have one in stock, to anyone. Instead, dealers recognize there is up to a 6 month waiting period for restocking and therefore taking advantage of those who chose to utilize independent mechanics. Dodge/Ram is acutely aware of shortage, as well as failure of part and has chosen to not warranty or conduct a voluntary recall. Every Ram mechanic and parts office I spoke with acknowledge EVERY 2018 Ram 2500/3500 will fail. The subject vehicle had under 31,000 miles. During failure, the vehicle loses its' anti-lock functions, traction control, defeats cruise control, dash continually lights up with error message 'SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM' then 'SERVICE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM' while simultaneously and constantly generating an audible warning over and over again during the operation of the vehicle. Price gouging for part, if you can find a dealer that 1) has the part in stock, and 2) willing to sell the part can run between $180.26 - $525.02 (MSRP $262.00). Part is in use for year models 2012-2018. I personally paid $525.02 (and grateful a dealer sold the part to me over the objections of the parts manager), drove 4 hours to obtain, plus install.
Abs and traction control lights intermittently on and off as well as service abs system message. Had the vehicle scanned and code C0020-1 “abs pump motor control” was identified. After a lot of research this exact problem is being reported by many others with the same year and model caused by a faulty hydraulic control unit and module. Please help us resolve this known safety issue.
I've been dealing with the ABS light going on & off with alarm constantly chiming for almost 2 years now. The anti lock breaking is compromised as is my cruise control. I can no longer operate the vehicle safely and I've had to park my truck permanently, which has created many economic and logistical issues for me and my family. I work 60+ a week to support a 2 and 4 year old child. The abs modulator and hydraulic unit need to be replaced according to the dealership (Ferman Dodge, Holiday, Florida) and (2) other non-dealer mechanics (Hilton Automotive, Ocala and Tuffy Spring Hill) have stated the same when I sought a 2nd and 3rd opinion. I don't understand why there's not a recall? Please, advise to the steps the NHTSA is taking to resolve this ongoing issue. I'm still waiting on the part/ parts to become available and I've been waiting for over a year now. I've reached out to every possible avenue that I know of to source the parts, to include aftermarket non-Mopar parts, and I'm being told they are still on back order. I can not afford to sell my truck in it's current state, as its currently "unrepairable" and that has severely diminished its value. I should not have to absorb that loss because of Dodge's negligence. Dodge needs to be held accountable for this, I purchased a very expensive truck in search or reliability and safety and I have received neither of those things. Please advise, my family cant afford to have a $50,000 lawn ornament any longer. Thank you!!! -[XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS, traction control, and cruise control intermittently failed to operate with the warning lights illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the ABS module was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 66,520.

ABS Hydraulic Control Unit C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control Has been in for repair once and diagnositc 2nd time. Awaiting parts. Anti-Lock Brake System Warning Light, Traction Control Warning Light, Service Electronic Brake System Message - Continuous Lit and Intermittent Chime
Braking power was diminished. ABS and Traction Control lights illuminated on dashboard and did not go out.
For about 8 months, our 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 has had interment ABS and HCU warning lights and the notification to "Service electronic braking system" followed by "Service antilock brake system". This may occur for a period of hours or seconds and disables our trucks ABS, traction control, cruise control and other systems. When checked, the truck has no stored fault codes. When this first occurred, I went to the dealer where the truck was purchased and inquired about replacement ABS and HCU modules and was informed that none were available. After subsequent visits and internet research, I found TSB#C0020-01, "ABS Pump Motor", that directs replacement of the ABS/HCU modules, and directs that the replacement parts will be provided by a "STAR system". We have had three incidents that we narrowly avoided accidents, two due to the intermittent ABS failure and one due to sudden loss of traction control while pulling our trailer. It has also noted that a Class Action Lawsuit has resulted from this same issue.
HCU / ABS module issues. Truck while driving has no cruise control my lights stay illuminated all the time, truck only has 57,000 miles and already repaired all 4 abs wheel speed censors, spent countless hours visibly checking all wires and fuses make sure no defects there. This could be a very dangerous and life threatening situation and I would think it's only right for Dodge Ram to recall the 2017-2018 for this ABS issue.
ABS ESC constantly flashes and chimes non stop…. Failed control to wheels in wet weather conditions/ no cruise control/ 4x4
The Anti-Lock Brake control module along with the Hydraulic control unit is failing. At any rate of speed, the traction control light and the ABS light comes on and off repeatedly. When this happens, the cruise control disengages which has cause the truck to slow down rapidly in heavy traffic causing other drivers to almost rear end my pregnant wife, 3 year old son and I. I had my local ram dealer pull the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and confirmed that the parts stated above, were in fact failing. The messages that pop up on the instrument cluster are “Service Anti-Lock Brake system” and “Service Electronic Brake System”. I can not have this component inspected as it is a daily driver and is the only vehicle we have currently.
track control and abs light on and no cruise control working
The ABS, traction control, cruise control and 4x4 no longer function. It started intermittently and now is constant. The vehicle is available for inspection. After a hard stop the abs won’t engage and I lost traction of the truck. There are two warning lamps that are on at all times (abs and traction control). It has been ongoing for almost 1 year and 10,000 miles or so.
Radio will show back up camera when driving, call cops, call people, turn the station, turs the heat up and A/C on and offd
Driving down the highway with the cruise control set and all of a sudden the cruise control stops working and my dash is dinging with service ABS system and service Electronic Brake System. The truck had 78,500 miles when this first happened. Now it does it intermittently while driving down the road. I notice there’s no recalls and it sound like a large problem. Haven’t taken it to a dealer yet.
ABS Control Module defective at 40,000 miles. OBD scanner confirmed issue. Warning lights and dinger sporadically on and off.
At 36,000 miles have been told I need to replace ABS pump control general electrical failure. Also replace ABS module. Parts are not available and are on backorder. I pull a 25 foot camper and this issue is causing concern with vehicle stopping. Apparently is a big problem as parts are not available and dealers that have part will not release parts so my truck can be fixed.
ABS LIGHT AND TRACK CONTROL IS ON AND THE TRUCK IS NOT GETTING TRACTION TO THE GROUND AND MY CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT WORKING WITH THE LIGHT ON.
ABS module system has been replaced twice .. needs to be replaced again per Dodge tech. No parts available. Unsafe to drive vehicle with no power brakes This is not unique to my truck. various individuals having same problem with same model Electrical Instrument cluster with display has been replaced and currently working.
On my way to work one day the check engine light,ABS light and traction control light came on and I thought something under the hood had came loose thought nothing about it and went into work when I came back out and got into the truck the lights where gone no big deal just sorta let it go and since I work out of state this is the truck I drive when I go back to my home state so I drove it 4 hours one way and never had a problem and then on my way back to my work state the truck shut off and wouldn’t start back up for about 45 minutes or so but when it did it had a red lightning bolt,ABS,traction control and check engine light on so I called the dealership and asked them to check on it but by the time they got it in the shop the lights had went back off and they told me that nothing was wrong with it so I went to pick it up the next day but as soon as I got 1/2 a mile down the road it started the same thing brakes going in and out truck shutting off so they paid for it to be towed back and figured out that the egr and the abs brake module was going out and tried to make me pay for everything out of pocket because it had just went out of warranty with ram but it had the extended warranty and keep in mind this truck has 30k miles on it but anyways they replaced the egr but have yet to replace the abs braking module
While applying the breaks the vehicle will deactivate ABS and force the vehicle to slide without control. ABS will turn off and on without warning. While using cruse control abs will deactivate and cause cruse control to stop working, causing the vehicle to slow unexpectedly. This has happed while towing a goose neck trailer causing additional pressure on vehicle when sudden loss of cruise control and abs.
I purchased my 2018 Ram 2500 mega cab from Grieco Ford in Delray Beach 4 days ago. As I was driving home, the ABS service, electric braking system and anti lock braking service lights came on. Took it to New Smyrna Beach Jeep Dodge Ram, they plugged it in and said the HCU needed replaced and was it n back order until September. I don’t know what to do.
Received Code: C0020
Intermittent ABS, EBS and traction control issues causing spurious warnings and loss of cruse control. The alerts are distracting to the driver, loss of ebs/abs represents safety issues while traveling, as does the loss of traction control and cruse control. Dealer has diagnosed the issue to the respective abs/ebs controllers but reports no parts in inventory and no due date for when they will be available. Formally request NHTSA force a recall to require the mfg to correct the issue expeditiously.
The vehicle experiences intermittent fault displays for "electronic brake service" and "ABS Service". This causes the vehicle to suddenly come out of cruise control and slow dramatically. This causes the vehicles ABS safety function to be inoperative reducing the overall braking capability and increasing the safe stopping distance This causes traction and stability controls to be disabled further degrading the built in safety features This was diagnosed several months ago by the dealership as an ABS hydraulic pump problem with no parts availability. The lack of parts has been an issue for months and has rendered my vehicle inoperative. The dealer said this was a common problem and that they had multiple Ram trucks with the same problem. I also checked online and found multiple reports of the same issue across the brand and across the country. This is a significant and costly repair >$800 for a part which is clearly underdesigned for the applicaiton with poor or little reliability.
Anti-lock brake system/ hydraulic control unit has been out for over a year. Paid dealer for part, that is on back order, have to continue to drive vehicle and have no idea when it can be fixed. The lights and alarm continuously go off making it incredibly unsafe to drive because they NEVER turn off and are totally random. I’ve been tolerating this for over a year and was told to file a complaint because many others are dealing with the same.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE ABS/HCU UNITS. THE WARNING COMES ON EVERY BUMP AND THE ABS SAYS IT IS NOT WORKING I HAD IT SERVICED LAST WEEK 4/18/2023 AND DIAGNOSED AS THE ABS/HCU NEEDS REPLACED AND WAS ORDERED. UNFORTUNATLEY THIS IS ON BO UNTIL 8/16/2023. I UNDERTAND THE 2019'S HAD A RECALL BUT MY 2018 DOES NOT?
ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, REPAIR ELECTRONIC BRAKE ALERTS HAVE BEEN FLASHING WITH AUDIBLE BEEPING AND AT TIMES REMAINS LIT WITHOUT BEEPING. Putting a load on the engine or hitting bumps on road seems to cause the warning lights and beeping. This has been going on since June of 2022. Vehicle was taken to shop and diagnosed with failing part (electronic abs brake module) Part was not readily available and waited two months for part for repair. Cost $525.00 total. Did not fix problem now repair shop states the truck needs HCU hydraulic brake fluid pump. Its been EIGHT MONTHS no part available. Truck is in need of repair, no parts available and has limited our use of airstream tow vehicle for travel.
ABS and HCU are in need of replacement parts. Because no replacement parts are available, I have no choice but to drive a Truck with questionable Breaking System, putting me, my family and others at risk, since the brake system is what stops my Truck when I need it to stop or slow down. I use this to tow the family travel trailer as well. This is also very important when brakes are needed to function safely. I have taken the Truck to my dealer of purchase. They completed a diagnostic test and also reproduced and confirmed the problem. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer's dealership Service Dept. The Truck's "ABS SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM" warning lights and warning tones alerted me of service needed back in November 2022, with just over 36,000 miles. I made an appointment and the dealership serviced my truck in January 2023. Since no parts are available for the repair, I had no option but to pay a diagnostic's fee to have my vehicle released to me, still in need of repairs. The warning lights and signals continue to go off repeatedly whenever I drive my Truck, letting me know that there is a SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and became firm. Additionally, the service electrical braking system warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with an ABS hydraulic control unit electrical failure; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The part to do the repair was on backorder until August 16,2023. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
Mileage: 78,000
Service ABS and electrical brake system failure lights come on randomly and repeatedly. This also disengages the cruise control when it happens. Sometimes the warning light stays on for a few minutes, other times it flashes on and off and dings each time. This is a very common issue for this year of Ram truck from people that I know and from the research I have done. At my previous employer, we had 2 other rams the same year with the same issue. The ABS system will not work with this problem - I was driving and my vehicle skid due to there not being ABS. I have tried on multiple occasions since my truck had about 85k miles on it to get this problem repair. The dealerships all told me they dont have the parts for a repair
Service lights for ABS and traction control systems constantly going on and off during vehicle use, these system failures disable cruise control systems. Truck is at dealer and they have said it needs new hydraulic control unit and ABS parts totaling over $2000 in parts alone, without an idea of when the parts will be available. This seems to be a common failure as I have read many posts of other Ram owners with the same issues.
I keep getting an intermittent error code on my vehicle C0020 - ABS Pump Motor Control. General Electric Failure After doing some research on the internet it appears that there are a lot of 2017 & 2018 Ram 2500 owners with the same issue
This complaint is based on the repeated failure of the vehicle's ABS/Traction control system and the lack of a repair solution from Ram. The failure starts as an infrequent (once per trip or so) fault and immediate clear of the ABS system with an audible alarm and dashboard message. Over the course of a few hundred miles the problem worsens to the point where it it faulting as often as every 1-1/2 to 2 seconds. (It is like driving with the seatbelt warning going off). Sometimes it will stay faulted or cleared for several seconds to minutes at a time. In the beginning of the failure process it seemed to go away once the engine got fully warm, after about 10 minutes of driving. This problem was diagnosed and repaired at a diesel specialty garage with replacement of the ABS Control Module and Electric Stability Control Unit. Reprogramming was performed by a Ram Technician. After about 7000 miles the problem returned, following the same failure pattern. The same shop inspected and and repaired a loose connector, another known deficiency in the system. However, this didn't fix the issue. The alarm started before I moved the vehicle (after paying for the repair). At that point I was told that there was no solution, and in fact there were four other trucks there with the same issue. The parts are under warranty but I am left paying for labor to install equipment that seems will fail fairly shortly. And I am left with a completely unreliable ABS system. The failure doesnt seem dependant on speed, road conditions, outside temperature, or towing/empty.
The abs traction control lights keep coming on device abs service electric brakes I pull a camper afraid I may loose my brakes and no parts available
Hydraulic control unit was replaced July 2020 (ABS traction control lights coming on MEANING, NO ABS NO TRACTION NO 4 WHEEL DRIVE.) Hydraulic control Unit not working AGAIN. I have NO ABS, NO TRACTION, NO 4 WHEEL DRIVE, AGAIN. CHIME GOING OF CONSTANTLY AND DEALERSHIP HAS HAD "PART ON ORDER SINCE JAN 2023"
HCU, ABS Modules. Inspection Is Available Apon Request. Concern For Safety With Hard Brake Pedal, Not Stopping As Required. Modules Do Not Respond To Hard Braking Like Described. Speedometer Not Reading. I Changed The Cables To The Wheel Hub With Still No Response. 42,600 miles In It, No Accidents. Problem Started 8mo. Have Not Driven For 3mo Now. Safety Not Confident. No Dealer, Mechanics Only A An Advanced Code Reader Scanner. Engine Light, ABS, Car/Lane Symbol Display.
Abs braking system has been flashing and traction control light flashing. My left front wheel started grinding and smoking out of the blue when driving today. No problems with brakes before that. Cruise control doesn’t work. And four wheel drive service light is flashing again!! The four wheel drive sensor was replaced once already a couple years ago.
Was driving vehicle on a rock road, when rounding a slight curve in the road, the antilock brake system light and the traction control lights both illuminated at the same time. The rear end of the truck began to slide due to having light pressure on the brakes and I was pulling my fifth wheel camper. Fortunately there were no injuries or damage to the truck or the camper. I washed off the mud when I got back to a hard surface area that had a car wash available and continued on my journey. Approximately 30 more miles later on the same trip both warning lights came on again. I immediately pulled over to read the message warning that was up on the dash to see if I could continue with my journey or not. After reading the message on the display in the truck, I decided it would be safer not to continue with my journey with that truck due to the safety issues and possibility of injury or death to me and my passengers, or another vehicle that I may encounter either head on or from behind. I had a friend of mine bring his fifth wheel truck to pick up my camper and return it back to my home. I had to cancel my camping trip for that week, which cost me approximately $400 out of pocket and then I had to pay my friend gas money to bring my vehicle home for me. I placed a call to the dealership nearest me and they advised me it would be $1,000 to begin any sort of diagnostic procedure on the I have now been driving the vehicle only unladened with any sort of extra payload, the light will come on and go off and come on and go off multiple times some days no times other days. I am retired, and a long-term covid patient, I do not have the financial resources to take a vehicle to a dealership to have them charge me absorbent amount of money when this clearly should be a safety recall on this vehicle. I have lost use of the vehicle for the intended purpose of telling my camper and boat, the manufacturer needs to be advised of this and give everybody repairs to make it safe to use.
There seems to be a huge ongoing problem with ABS pumps and control modules for this model vehicle. I can find pages and pages of issues online for the same truck. The 'service brakes' warning comes on and off intermittently and I managed to replicate the fault after several months long enough to get it diagnosed. I am told the following parts are the issue: 68347098 - AB MODULE AN 08035030 68143491- AB CONTROL A 08035030 I got the truck diagnosed in January but was initially told Mid March for the parts and now am being told August - which would mean no functioning ABS on my vehicle for 8 months! And no guarantee the delivery date won't creep again. This is unacceptable for a safety critical component and clearly shows a fundamental flaw with the parts as they can't seem to make them faster than they are failing. I can find many reports of these happening from as early as 14,000 miles and with the replacement parts also failing.
ABS light and Tracking control lights flicker on and off constantly. No warnings just came on one day. I have 38,000 miles on my truck not very many for warning lights to come on. I cannot use cruise control as well as about half of my controls. Including tracking control which is now permanently off and is a major hazard! Took it to the dealership in Concord, CA and was told the control module is bad. With no time frame to fix. Probably will be a fix once my warranty is up so the dealership is not liable to fix my truck. A quick search online shows this is a problem for this vehicle.
Driving along freeway to visit family, cruise control engaged, travelling 65 mph, when all of a sudden several messages flashed on the dash to "check electronic braking system", and traction control disengaged light and service light came on as Cruise control shut off. after a few seconds lights went out and system returned to normal. Repeated several times on way back home (3 hr drive) and had randomly happened since almost every time I drive the truck. Had similar situation a year after I bought the vehicle, 11/2020 @6600 miles, local dealer replaced HCU. This can potentially leave me without Traction control and ABS when I need them and could cause an Accident. I'm waiting for dealer to get other parts in for a covered warranty repair, (Been waiting since Nov 2022), and have them fix both, again, but it renders my truck useless- dangerous to drive until then.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the intelligent battery sensor (IBS) warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
Mileage: 9,000
ABS Code C0020-01
“SERVICE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM” and “SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM” lights come on and off repeatedly.
The abs module and hydraulic control unit has failed. This means that my safty and others on the road is put at risk because during heavy breaking you can loose control of the vehicle due to the truck anti break system does not work. Also the traction control does not work which also will cause you to loose control.
Multiple ABS pump and ABS hydraulic control unit failures. Components have been replaced and replaced components failed also after a few months.
The abs and traction control lights come on and go off intermittently. I took the truck to the dealer they said it need a new hcu which costs 500$ and 1000$ for labor the truck has 27000 miles on it and is out os warranty. The part need is on back order. I feel this is a defect and there should be a recall. Thanks for any help you can give. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Code for right rear wheel speed sensor came on. Resulting in no abs, traction control, 4x4,or parking sensors. I bought new part from dealer had mechanic change it. Reflash abs and still on. Went off briefly for 5 seconds came back on. I've realized it's it's common problem. Resulting in the abs module needing replaced. But it's only a temporary fix.
ABS and stability control fails and warning lights activate intermittently 11/11/22 (47,290 miles) The cruise control disengaged without notice when the faulty modules light up. Under a heavy load this caused severe speed reduction and momentary loss of vehicle control Reported to dealer.(Rothrock motor sales) It is a know issue with thousands of suspect ram 2500's Parts are not available due to demand. This is an intermittent fault with the Stability control and/or hydraulic control module. Both parts or one part faults the other creating a hazard for all drivers Dealer was made aware of issue and states parts are back ordered months out if at all available causing customers to drive the trucks with unsafe braking due to no other means of transportation This is a well know defect being ignored by Chrysler/Ram
At 67k mileage my 2018 Ram 2500 abs, traction control and electronic braking system warning lights flash intermittently, dealer, auto parts store and several online sites state it is the ABS and HCU modules electrical failure. This causes the abs system to malfunction and poses immediate threat for crash especially while pulling trailers. When the lights flash the cruise control will no engage/disengage. No dealer has these module with no clear indication of availability as of 1/27/2023
Abs on off messing with cruise control. In snow conditions feel it’s a concern. Sometimes the abs work’s most of the time it’s on/off multiple times while driving. For a 2018 truck with only a little over 24,000 miles not happy that at this time the dealership says they have no clue when they will have parts to fix
The infotainment screen is malfunctioning. It makes phantom button presses. The most dangerous of all is when I am backing up. Instead of it showing the back-up camera it shows the bed camera. Very dangerous!!!!
I have made a previous report about this vehicle. New things are happening now. My mirrors are tilting and changing while driving. The backup camera is still coming on in while driving down the highway. I can't keep the heated wheel turned off. It gets so hot, its hard to hold the steering wheel. I have to pull off the road and turn the truck off. I cannot use my Bluetooth while driving because it starts calling random people, then it starts reading all my text messages. Its against the law to hold your phone while driving in NC. The doors lock and unlock while driving. I bought this truck a little over a year ago and this ghost in my truck is driving me crazy. It's unsafe while driving, with the mirrors tilting. I change the settings and the ghost changes it all... please help.
Anytime while driving the truck waring lights on the dashboard will come on intermittently. The ABS and traction control light will come on, and on the display screen two different messages will appear along with alarm sound constantly dinging. One message says (Service Electronic Braking System) the other says (Service Antilock Brake System). If driving with the cruise control on when those lights and messages appear the cruise will stop working. This problem is intermittent it comes and goes, but usually very often. The truck is out of warranty with 41000 miles on it and this has been happening since Sept. of 2022. I had it diagnosed by an independent garage and had two trouble codes (C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical Failure) and (C0020-16 ABS Pump Motor Control Circuit Voltage Below Threshold). The truck still seems to stop normally, but I feel very unsafe driving it. The ABS Hydraulic Control unit is unavailable from the dealer. As of today Jan.-18 2023 they are saying it will not be available until March-15 2023. This is most definitely a safety issue on the truck which should be recalled. The dealer says the parts problem is a supplier issue. I believe the manufacturer knows these are defective and is trying to avoid recall.
- I have a repeated low mileage failure of the antilock brake system hydraulic control unit. The faulty unit is still installed on the vehicle. - The ABS hydraulic unit failure intermittently renders the ABS system, traction control system, and electronic stability system inoperable for varying durations. This is the 2nd failure of this system on the vehicle. The first failure occurred during normal highway driving. The 2nd failure occurred while traveling in the mountains in the snow. Had I not been experienced driving a non-abs vehicle in inclement weather we could have crashed. - The issue was diagnosed and confirmed by a local Ram dealership service department. It was escalated to Ram customer care due to lack of parts availability and high cost of repair. Ram escalated part delivery and denied financial assistance. The vehicle is out of warranty for this particular part. - There are various intermittent warnings present. The fault condition will rapidly annunciate and then clear many times in a short time period, or stay active for long periods, or not occur at all. The fault condition appears to be completely unpredictable but is repeatable.
Abs and traction control lights come on and off dealership replaced the hcu and the problem stopped. 2 years later and only 3,000 problem started again. Contacted the dealership and they said its a known issue but no parts are available and no recall
C0020-01 code began coming in and out immediatly following a service at my local Ram dealer. I returned to the dealer after the warning lamps and messages all came in around ten times within a mile of picking my truck up from them. The dealer used a device to clear the messages, but the alarms returned again after I left. There are multiple warning lamps and messages that remain in as a result of this: service anti-lock braking system, ABS warning lamp, traction control lamp, and a loss of cruise control functionality. While the constant "dinging" sound and loss of cruise control on a truck with less than 20K miles is disappointing, I am concerned whether or not these warnings are indication of a serious safety hazard to my family and/or those we are on the highway with. My truck is available for inspection. The issue was confirmed by my local dealer who cleared the alarms when they first came in.
The ABS module and associated control unit have failed. This causes the anti lock braking and traction control systems to be inoperable which can cause the vehicle to lose control which can cause injury or death. FCA is aware that these units are defective and refuses to fix them.
Traction Control Light is illuminated, Service Trailer Braking System, and Service Trailer Brake System Notifications are present on engine startup. ABS system appears to be inoperative in slippery conditions. Service Engine Light comes on every 15 miles or so with Codes P0572 and P0572pd. Download codes and they go away.
Multiple failures on ABS Brake control module. Module has failed twice now within 30,000 miles. Manufacturer has no urgency in prdocing replacement parts. Cannot drive vehicle due to this issue.
ABS and Traction Control warning lights flash on and off constantly and there is a warning tone that beeps non-stop on my 2018 Ram 2500. When these warnings appear, the ABS System and the Traction Control are disabled along with the cruise control. This has happened twice already, and my truck only has 4000 miles on it. The first time was in October 2021 when the truck had under 3000 miles on it. The dealership replaced the ABS pump which fixed the problem temporarily. In August 2022 the same problem appeared, and the same warning lights came on. At this time the truck had around 4000 miles on it. I took the truck in for service in October 2022 and even though the truck was out of warranty, I still had an extended warranty contract. This time I was told it was the ABS Control Module and that the part was on backorder for 3 months or more and that since they could not get the part I was not covered by the extended warranty and was charged a $175.00 diagnostic fee, but that if they were able to get the part that I would have been covered by the warranty. All the dealership was able to do was reset the code which lasted for about 20 minutes before the problem started again. It is now December 28, 2022, and I have had to drive around for the last 6 months with the dashboard flashing and the truck constantly beeping and with the ABS, Traction Control and Cruise Control disabled. I have seen hundreds of complaints regarding the same problem and yet Dodge has not issued a recall regarding this issue. It's beyond comprehension that my truck has had the same problem twice and it only has 4000 miles on it and now Dodge is telling everybody that the part is not available until next year, and so everybody that has this same problem has to drive their truck around with flashing warning lights on the dashboard and a constant dinging tone which gets very distracting and annoying, and on top of that their ABS and Traction Control is disabled. This was my first and last Dodge.
Sporadic light warnings displayed on dashboard along with warnings of Traction control and Service ABS control module. C0020-01 code pulled with code reader. Dealership diagnosed that ABS Pump motor control failure and replacement was needed. Parts on recall until earliest Jan 2023.
In July 2022, the esc/abs dash lights as well as the ‘service electronic brake/service ABS’ warning began intermittently flashing with resultant loss of traction control and ABS including cruise control. It would continue to activate/deactivate numerous times over the next couple of months. The dealer has identified the hydraulic control module as defective requiring complete replacement of the HCU and ABS system. Online search shows this to be a common known problem along with well over 100 complaints filed with the NHTSA regarding model years 2017-2018. Interestingly, there is a recall for this very problem for the same truck series years 2019-2022 for the same part. There are over 2500 orders for this part and my dealer is not allowed to place an order until mid February because of the backlog endangering my life to use my only vehicle that can be used in the snow this winter. Dodge is clearly not supporting its customer base with providing a known defective part replacement in a reasonable time frame forcing those that don’t have an alternative vehicle to risk their lives and those on the road around them by driving a 7000 pound vehicle that can lose control and not be able to stop given that we are now in the middle of winter.
The ABS light will go on and off the dash over and over. The truck is 134 miles out of warranty and the dealer said the parts are the ABS pump and electrical board went bad. They do not have the parts to fix then and it is not warrantied now. This is a well known problem and there is plenty of knowledge at the dealers of the issues. They knew what was wrong without even driving the truck. The pump going bad at 36, 239 miles on my truck should not happen. They already have an updated fix but will not admit they sold trucks with a faulty ABS design and should be fixing these trucks for free. My ABS no longer works and I have no cruise control or traction assist and I live in the snow belt of Ohio. I no longer feel safe driving my 4 daughters around in my truck I am still paying for, it is not comfortable knowing a massive company like Ram is doing nothing about it.
In February of 2022 the radio console screen looked odd. It was very subtle and we weren’t sure what if anything we were seeing. The function was normal at that time. At this time the vehicle was under warranty and had less than 28,000 miles. It was having an intermittent check engine light in July and was due for service so we took it to the dealer. I told them about the console screen appearance and they said it was delaminating which they were seeing in these trucks. They did not say it was a recall issue. Since the replacement unit was over $1,000 and appeared to function otherwise we opted not to change it. In December the screen began to flash and act strangely. When we tried to start it the next day to take to the dealer, it had no power. We had it towed to the dealer The service advisor told us to speak to Chrysler RAM customer service as this was an unexpected failure in a vehicle with less than 30,000 miles. Our concern is the console unit is being replaced but with what. Has the flaw in the unit been identified and the replacement parts modified to eliminate the problem? Is the replacement part going to have the same problem? If we lost electrical power while driving it could have catastrophic consequences.
Lost braking power. Anti-Lock brakes quit working. Lost cruise control. Unable to use anti-lock brakes. Brakes locked when stopping. Flashing dash alarm saying service ABS/Electronic Braking System. All occurring without reason, just randomly. This puts my safety and the safety of others at risk as the brakes lock up when depressed at times as well as loss of braking power.
Was driving on expressway exit ramp trying to come to a stop and the brakes hesitated and then locked up, at the same time the traction control and abs light came on. Traction control and abs lights still come on months later and problems with breaking are still there. Took to local shop to get fixed and they told me abs module and hcu pump are bad. Parts are not available thru mopar or aftermarket.
ABS system malfunctioning, “service electronic braking system” and “service abs” messages flashing continuously while driving. Known issue among Ram. Was quoted $1000 to repair ABS module.
Service electronic brake system indicator came on while driving vehicle. Warning continued to go on and off numerous times randomly and still continues to do so. Took it to dealership to have problem addressed and service worker said this was his sixth 2018 Ram 2500/3500 in his dealership to have the HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT and ANTI LOCK BRAKE module to malfunction. FCA should have a recall on this, but as of now they don't. Parts are back ordered and won't be in for months. Dealership told me it's fine to drive as is but I'd rather not take my chances. Please address this. Thank you very much.
HCU failing. Blinks on display screen. Appears then disappears. When in cruise control and the HCU goes haywire, kicks cruise control off unexpectedly. When this occurs and the driver isn't expecting it, this causes panic because the vehicle rapidly slows down, nearly causing a vehicle collision if not prepared for it. I was almost rear ended due to this. Research on this failure would reveal this issue to be affecting 1000's of 2018 RAM trucks to have this problem. My local Dodge dealer advised I am approximately the 2500th person waiting on the part which is currently on BACKORDER. Have been a Police Officer for 15 years, safe driver and this nearly caused an accident on 695 Baltimore County, MD during heavy traffic.
A few weeks ago, the seat and steering wheel was so hot, I could hardley hold the steering wheel to drive. I immediately checked the controls for the heat, it was on and I turned off, it turns back on. I finally found a safe place to pull over and went to settings and made sure it was off. It automatically comes back on, then it wouldn't let me turn it off. Finally it switches to cool seats, then then fan is coming on wide open and I couldn't turn that off. I finally shut the truck down for a few minutes. Then restarted the truck, then the truck wouldn't go in drive, it was stuck in park. I kept working with the shifter and finally got it in drive. As soon as I pull back into traffic, the backup camera is on, the radio starts going crazy, going from station to station, I tried turning off the screen, it wouldn't turn off. Then all my phone contacts come up on the screen and then starts randomly calling people. I couldn't make it stop until I disconnected it from Bluetooth. I finally made it home and shut the truck off, and disconnected the battery hoping to reset the entire system. The next day, same stuff, but different stuff. Doors locking and unlocking. Also, had to take off Bluetooth again, because it starts talking and reading all my text messages. I love my truck, but it is driving me crazy, it's so distracting trying to keep it from doing all this crazy stuff. The steering wheel getting hot is crazy, I can't get nothing done sitting on the side of the road. Please help!!!
The truck ABS, traction control, and service electric brake lights and warnings have flashed and beeped on and off and on and off every few seconds. I took the truck to the dealer to be fixed under warranty. The dealer states it has a bad HCU and no longer has anti lock brakes however I can still drive the truck with all that distraction going on in the dash. The part is on back order and I won’t have my truck repaired until February (2.5 months) This same part was also replaced a a little over year ago under warranty along with Abs sensors and wire harnesses. I have 2 friends with the same year trucks who also had to have the same repair done. Upon looking up information on the internet it seems like this has been a on going issue on the 4th generation ram trucks 1500-3500 models from 2012-2018 I feel the safety of this could cause a car accident by the distraction of the dash going nuts and the possibility of a vehicle skid while not having anti lock brakes properly working. I would hate to drive it putting my life as well as others drivers and passengers lives in the line due to this safety issue ram is having. The issue happens randomly some times non stop while driving and sometimes I can drive 15 miles or so with nothing then it will start again. It first happened when I had approximately 50,000 miles on the truck and has done it again at 73,500 miles. When the lights are on it will not allow cruise control to work or 4x4 to engage. I have not noticed anything else not working properly.
The LCD touch control screen in the dashboard has been delaminating for several months and is now malfunctioning causing the screen to change turn on and of settings such as heated seats, heat and AC. The screen will not remain off at night due to this malfunction causing an unsafe and distracting bright light coming from the screen remaining on.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that after two weeks of not driving the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start up after several attempts. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact jumpstarted the vehicle and made an appointment with the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. However, the dealer replaced the battery. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on two other occasions; however, the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.

ABS and Traction Control warning light keeps intermittently coming on and then a message saying that the Electric Brake system needs serviced. This has happened to my 2018 RAM at 17,000 miles. Dealer replaced ABS module under warranty and problem was solved. Now I am at 35,000 miles and the problem is back. Same exact issue. This needs to be a recall item ASAP and this seems to be a VERY common problem with these trucks. This could be very dangerous as these trucks are made for towing heavy loads and losing your anti-lock braking capabilities could be catastrophic to you or anyone else on the road.
Electrical issue with the radio. It will change screen, turn the radio up and down. Turn and off. Makes SOS calls on its on. Turn the AC to hot in Arizona when it's already 100+ degrees out. All while driving.
The ABS system warning comes on when I hit a bump. The audible warning sounds as well. It happens multiple times during a trip, even a short trip. The cruise control is disabled when this as well. When this happens, the truck is harder to stop. It is a safety concern. There is a recall on 2019 trucks for the same issue. The 2018 trucks need this same recall.
The electronic brake light and ABS warning goes off intermittent and with hitting bumps. When this happens the cruise control shuts off. This leads me to believe that the antilock brakes and and will malfunction in a panic stop. This is a repeat issue, dealership has replaced the HCU and ABS modules twice within a three year window.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated and the cruise control inadvertently disengaged, causing the vehicle to decelerate. The contact had not lost control of the vehicle or electrical power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with electrical failure. The contact was informed that the hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced and a software update needed to be performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the dealer informed her that it was a common issue with the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and no assistance was offered as the vehicle was not included in a recall. The contact stated that she researched the failure online and found a recall for the 2019-2022 Ram 2500 with a similar failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V140000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control). The contact stated that the VIN was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Mileage: 70,000
The vehicle entertainment center has an issue where the screen is separating from the unit. This is a SAFETY ISSUE because the system CANNOT be turned off and the unit controls not just entertainment features such as radio, navigation, etc but also controls driver functions such as seat controls, heat & air, cell phone connections, etc. The screen is a touch screen unit meaning that the separation issue causes the system to think random areas on the screen are being touched due to road vibration. This causes the vehicle's computer systems to freak out and do things like randomly call people if a cell phone is connected, change seat settings, turn on air conditioning full blast and then switch to heat full blast, select random navigation points, etc. This is HUGELY distracting to the driver and UNSAFE. An internet search will indicate that this issue has been a known issue by many drivers of Dodge RAM vehicles where this particular entertainment system is installed. It needs to be recalled and fixed. These issues render the vehicle UNDRIVEABLE without risk of causing an accident.
The electronic brake light and ABS warning goes off intermittent and with hitting bumps. When this happens the cruise control shuts off. This leads me to believe that the antilock brakes and and will malfunction in a panic stop. A brief review of google shows this to be a well known issue with multitudes of owner la having the issue. Parts on back order also an indicator of the frequency.
The abs and traction control light is on and chimes non stop and my cruise control will not work when the abs and traction control is defective. It needs the abs pump replaced as do many of these trucks. The next issue is the computer sceen is delaminated and is wanting you to adjust the time and chimes non stop, so it will not allow you to turn on your defrosters so you can see the road. This truck is so unsafe it now just sits in my barn while I drive my 2005 ram with 210000 mile on it! The repair cost is around 5000,00 for a truck with 48,000 miles on it! All safty issues!
Brake system failed on 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 with 31,262 miles on it. Dealer stated electronic failures on ABS pump and hydraulic control unit.
2018 Ram 2500 4x4, 65400 miles, began having flashing and dinging from dash and warning lights for abs, traction control. Scan revealed code c0020-01, ABS control general electrical failure. It appears FCA is aware of this issue, but claims it not to be a recall issue, or covered under the power train warranty. I feel this is a safety issue, these systems help avoid crashes. This started as a simple quick light and went away, and at other times it goes off and on and dings, it’s distracting to who ever is driving these vehicles,
While driving my ABS system “ service ABS” and Service Electronic braking system “ light both flashed and my truck started to skip as it appears the abs system was trying to engage while i was driving, I immediately pulled over and turned off the truck. Now the lights won’t turn off. I was driving about 60 on paved roads. This appears to be a severe problem with the 2018 year model and if not taken care of I will bring legal action against Fiat Chrysler Ram and the NHTSA for ignoring these real issues that could potentially lead to a death
My 2018 RAM 2500 doesn't even have 23,000 mile on it, however went out of the 3/36000 in June of 2021. Currently I will be driving along and out of the blue the ABS/EBS "Service Breaking System" and traction control will light up and flash and ding. It will sometime go away quickly, however other times it keeps flashing the warning, and dinging upwards a minute. As seen on the site this is a very common issue with the 2018 RAM 2500, and it should be a Safety Concern and part of a National Recall. Many people use the 2500 to pull trailers and the like, and to loose any safety aspect relative braking is simply unacceptable and a dangerous situation for the owners and others on the roadways.
While operating the vehicle on cruise control the electronic throttle control failed and the vehicle went to full throttle. Stepping on the gas did not fix the problem. Luckily the brake lamp were applied and the brakes slowed the vehicle to a stop eventually while the engine was still at full throttle. Once the vehicle was safely on the side of the road, it was turned off. The vehicle had a warning that said to service the electronic throttle control. The vehicle was started again to get it onto a tow truck once it arrived, and the vehicle still went to full throttle. The vehicle was towed to the nearest dealership. Once at the dealership the vehicle was started again to get it off of the tow truck. The engine operated normally at that point. The throttle failing to full throttle is a huge safety issue. Luckily there was minimal traffic on the high way. The vehicle took a very long to to stop. Selecting Neutral could have helped but everything happened very quickly and caught the operator off guard.
I have been having intermittent ABS/traction control lights flashing on my dash. When I hooked my truck up to my DTC code reader, it says I have a C0020-21 stored. ABS pump motorcontrol - general electrical failure. I have noticed thousands of complaints on various websites about the same issue. My truck only has 38,000 miles on it. This must be a defective part.....I called and asked my local dealership about this and they said its a very common issue. I believe it is a safety issue because it reduces the trucks ability to stop quickly, it may cause my truck to swerve in an emergency stop situation, and if this happens while the cruise control is on it turns the cruise control off unexpectedly. This happened to me in a bad rainstorm and caused my truck to swerve into the next lane over. I asked the dealer when they could get to repairing it and thy told me it would be months before they could repair it and it would cost approximately 1,800 dollars. They told me to just keep driving it with the error codes active. This is ridiculous. This part needs to be recalled because it affects thousands of vehicles and it is unsafe. My vehicle is available for inspection.
I was on vacation with my family and pulled over to the side of the road to get something from the back and the service abs electronic light came up. it was intermittently coming on and off. it really dampened our trip because i have been stranded with electrical issues in this truck before. my family was scared the brakes were going to fail and we reduced our trips into the mountain areas we had planned. being not fully trusting of this very expensive vehicle i thought would take me anywhere i need to go i tried to sell it back to the dealer, i signed all the sale paperwork feeling like today was the best deal and they wouldnt give me the same deal the next day. only to be told i needed to pick the truck back up because of the brake system hydraulic control and brake system module being not availiable. so long story short. they said i am stuck with this truck and this is not a recall issue. i cant find the parts, this is just out of warranty period, i do not feel safe driving this vehicle. i am actively searching and do see that probably thousands of owners have the same issues, hopefully i can get the updated part and resolve this issue.
SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKING CONTROL AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON AND CHIMES. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALER AND MOST OF THE TIME THEY COULD'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM I FINALLY HAD THE LIGHTS TO COME ON AND WENT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER WITHOUT SHUTTING DOWN THE TRUCK AFTER THE CHECKS THEY STATE ABS CONTROL MODULE AND HCU NEEDS REPLACED. PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS AND $1200 REPAIR COST. THE LIGHT COMES ON THEN THE CRUSE CONTROL STOPS WORKING AND THEN WHEN BRAKING HARD THE WHEELS LOCK UP AND CAUSES SKIDDING. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT RAM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND REPAIR. ITS FEDERAL LAW THAT MANUFACTURES PUT ABS ON THE VEHICLES SO THEY SHOULD MAKE SURE THEY WORK CORRECTLY.
Every so often I am getting the “Service Electronic Brake System” and my ABS light and Traction Control Light come on. This has happened to quite a few Gen 4 and Gen 5 Ram’s. Everyone replaces the wheel speed sensors, wheel hubs and ABS sensors with no fix. Only thing after that is the Hydraulic Control Unit and ABS Control Module (which is on National back order until who knows when). The ABS system for some reason is not covered under the power train warranty, why I don’t know. It’s a serious issue that needs to be addressed.
Hi 2018 Dodge Ram 2500. Screen for radio/gps/Uconnect etc is delaminating.
Steering dang link , steering gear box has my steering throwing me all over the road . It's getting bad to almost causing wrecks and suspension is very bad . This has been getting really bad to the point of calling a lawyer
The ABS and Traction Light come on intermittently. We recently had snow fall and I had to stop quickly, the ABS worked as it should have until the light activated on the dash which disabled the ABS. Luckily I was able to control the vehicle when it started to slide into the on coming lane. It is definitely not safe. As I have seen in numerous complaints this is a well documented problem on the 2018 Ram 2500.
Service Anti-Lock brake system and Service Electronic brake system messages repeatedly display along with a distracting chime. Symbols for these illuminate and then go out. The dealer spent three and a half hours trying to determine the problem about a week and a half ago. They made an appointment to pick up the vehicle this morning to look at it again "after their electronics specialist gets back from vacation". No one picked it up and a call to the dealer revealed that they have no drivers available to come get it. The constant chiming of the warning is especially distracting when driving in traffic and the intermittent nature of the problem could actually cause an accident if it occurred while the systems were trying to control a skid.
My 2018 Ram 2500 has over 45,000 miles on it and this is the second time that I have gotten the service antilock brake system and service electrical braking system warnings. The first time my truck was still under warranty and the dealer replaced the parts (I believe the ABS module and the hydraulic control unit) which seemed to remedy the issue until recently. Now here we are with the same issue coming up. Seems that the first time occurred when turning on a wet road and the second occurred while backing up in some mud at our camp. Seems like the culprit might be when one of the rear tires seems to slip/spin differently than the other. Considering this is my second issue with this and there seems to be more and more complaints online for the same exact thing, this might be a defect in the parts or some other underlying issue. I take really good care of my truck and don't abuse it and these parts should not fail this quickly.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the Service Electric Braking System and the ABS and Traction Control warning lights were illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the ABS pump to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 26,800.

The Uconnect 8.4 system has failed, in that the screen has delaminated. This system affects all others. The climate control, Bluetooth, Sirius and Radio, rear view camera, and navigation system are all controlled by the Uconnect system. The system self initiates, cannot be turned off, and randomly changes audio sources. The navigation system does not track with the vehicle and the Bluetooth will not engage or disengage with driver input. Additionally, the Bluetooth will automatically engage and disengage during phone calls. This system was an expensive option, and now does not operate properly. It is extremely distracting. As I said, the system cannot be turned off and expected to stay off. It operates random and autonomously.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the U-Connect display screen malfunctioned, causing light to be present inside the cabin of the vehicle and causing a visibility hazard for the driver while operating the vehicle in the dark. On one occasion the driver nearly hit a pedestrian due to the poor visibility caused by the defect. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the safety issue, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Mileage: 80,000
8.4 Uconnect (media center) screen delamination causing "ghost touches"/glitches on the touchscreen, which prevent backup camera from functioning. While backing up, camera randomly turns off or switches to a separate cargo camera. Backup camera often remains on while driving forward. Ghost touching also cause random phone calls and emergency phone calls, which cause a distraction to driving. According to simple Google search, 8.4 Uconnect screen delamination appears to be a common problem even on low-mileage vehicles. Manufacturer/dealer will not replace outside of warranty.
The Service Electric Braking System and the Service Antilock Brake System warning lights come on with chime. I or other have not been put into risk of safety as of yet. No dealer will look at it right now. I have called 2 dealerships and they both told me that they have to many vehicles as of now to look at it. At what point is mine and others safety con into play? I need my truck for my business and can't afford to let it go for long.
The rear backup camera intermittently goes out when backing up. Alot of the time it just don't work at all and you'll get a blue screen or a very hard to make out image that's extremely blurry. I'd have a feeling that this problem is more if an electrical connector problem because you can slam the tailgate and it will go back to working just fine for a little while till you hit a bump in the road or open your tailgate again. It can be extremely dangerous not being able to use your backup camera in such a big truck.
Abs and electronic braking system pump failed and need replaced around 40,000 miles. Was told it is a common known issue with these trucks
While driving my 2018 Ram 2500, the Service Electrical Breaking System and Service Anti-locking Break System flashes on and off. It usually does this while traveling on a bumpy road or driving over railroad tracks. Sometimes it will go days without coming on and some days while driving it constantly beeps and flashes the entire time while driving and it really distracts me from driving. When I called my local Ram dealership Lander's Dodge Bossier City, to make an appointment, they knew that it was a 2018 Ram 2500 before I told them. The first available appointment isn't until 22 November 21.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the central control system head unit malfunctioned and turned off. Additionally, the head unit would activate or deactivate other systems in the vehicle without driver input. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the central control system radio head unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.
Mileage: 29,000
The truck was in at 35,486 miles because the service four-wheel light was coming on while towing the dealership said the electrical connector to front axle disconnect is packed with grease pushing pins from the electrical connector cleaned excessive grease from connector and repaired pins and reassembled Road tested verified repair shortly three weeks after the service ABS light has been coming on and off when it comes on with the cruise control on it causes sudden deceleration also when the service ABS light is on anti-lock brakes do not work and traction control light is also on it comes on and goes off while driving just like the service four-wheel-drive light I have not had it in yet for service due to the fact still fighting with warranty but to me it seem like an electrical short issue
Center console touchscreen is de laminating and executing vehicle functions on its own while I’m driving. Very unsafe and distracting. This is apparently a very common issue.
C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. I called the dealership and was told by service advisor at Maik Haik Dodge in Temple, Texas this is a common issues and Ram knows about it. It is effecting Ram trucks from 2014 to 2018 models 1500 to 3500. This issue turns off all ABS, Traction Control and Disables cruise control. The Abs and traction control light goes off and on constantly. message on the dash is service ABS system and service electric brake system.
Touch screen delaminated causing random inputs and essentially disabling phone, SOS feature, rear parking assist, climate control, audio input control, BlueTooth, etc.
ABS module, HCU module Currently available to be inspected if dealer won’t fix. Potential loss of brakes. Dealer confirmed I had codes relating to a known problem with both abs and hcu modules. Dealership ran diagnostics. Service braking system warning lamp appeared on dash. Codes C0020 and U0147. FCA star letter case #: S2005000004 Letter relates to codes stating general electrical failure. Dealership wants to charge me $785.21 to fix. They started by saying the cost would be close to $2800, when I asked why so much, they said I need several other repairs but couldn’t provide a break down. I brought my vehicle in with the letter about the faulty equipment and the codes and was told it would get taken care of.
the service abs and service traction control come on if i hit any bump on the road, seems to be a common problem with this vehicle model.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speed, the contact pressed the auto memory button on the front driver’s side seat and became aware that the electronic control unit on the vehicle had reset itself and radio which caused the front driver’s and passenger’s side rearview mirrors to open and close independently. Additionally, the front driver’s and passenger’s side windows activated independently. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed the failure with an electronic control unit failure however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact took the vehicle to another dealer, Wake Forest Dodge RAM (10936 Star Rd, Wake Forest, NC 27587, (919) 899-4586) who inspected the vehicle and confirmed the failure with the electronic control unit in the radio. The unit was replaced however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000.

I HAVE A 2018 RAM 2500 WITH 24320 MILES ON IT. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT/ ABS/EBS SERVICE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN DRIVING. THE SPEED CONTROL GOES OFF. I HAVE SEEN ON THE RAM FORUM THAT THIS IS COMMON ON THIS AND THE 2017 YEARS TOO. MY QUESTION IS IF THERE ARE SEVERAL 100 PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY HAVE YOU NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THIS WILL GET SOMEON KILLED IF THEY ARE NOT CAREFUL.

I HAVE TRIED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY ARE UN RESPONSIVE. LOOKING AT THE VIDEOS ON HOW TO RE-LACE THE TOUCH SCREEN DUE TO MANUFACTURER REQUESTING OVER $1500 TO REPLACE BASED ON FALSE CLAIMS OF BROKEN/CRACKED GLASS IN THE SCREEN.
