2018 RAM 2500 Forward Collision Avoidance Problems

ABS and Electronic Braking System. I have not been able to use cruise control because this problem with my brakes also disabled my cruise control. I worry about my brakes failing. The part(s) needed to repair this have not been made available so I've been advised to not have it serviced until repair parts can be made available. I have had warning lamps light up on the dash since December of 2022. It's been over three years and RAM is not handling this in a timely fashion. I'm concerned about my brakes failing.

Stellantis and RAM companies have had Manufacturer Recall NumberC4B NHTSA Recall Number24V-896 Recall Status: Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available This has been well over a year and I have lost the use of my Truck for loading my Truck Camper for the entire year due to their lack of resources allocated to fix this issue. I have had the Traction control light /ABS Service light associated with the HCU electric pump motor fail on this recall since June of 2024 and it is due to defective parts that do not last as this was the second HCU/Electric pump motor in the truck from the Manufacturer and installed serviced by my local RAM dealer dealer( first one failed at 11,500 miles approximately. my truck has 23,000 miles on it currently as and when the repair part(s) come into stock, it will be the 3rd unit installed. This time on waiting for upgraded parts to be installed under the Recall/Warranty is unacceptable and is not "TIMELY" at all. Additionally if this light comes on during driving with cruise control on it will shut off cruise control and can cause an accident from the deceleration.

I have a 2018 ram 2500 purchase from the dealership within the same week of purchase magically the ABS system failed driving down the highway in the middle of winter time kicking out cruise control and traction control causing me to almost crash on the highway and get hit by a semi Not only have I had the truck for almost 2 years unable to drive it I believe the dealership should never been able to sell me this vehicle with the known problems and what they already failing ABS system making me unaware of the issue Yes and the brake system not working in the truck sitting has caused other failures in the vehicle now a transmission shop told me the ABS failure affecting other parts of the truck caused the transmission brain to not work correctly and my warranty could not fix the transmission is corrected and fixed so I have those problems now that can't be fixed until the ABS systems fixed and there's no parts available still so my warranty is going to expire before the break system can get fixed Before it went out on me there were no lights I purchased it from the dealership so obviously they had cleared out the failure and lights to make the vehicle sale because the ABS light came on during test drive and I was told that was a new feature to remind you to check brake pad for wear and tear

We had planned to pull our 30 ft travel trailer across the US this winter to the south, but with these issues, we are hesitant to drive the truck a long distance. We are also hoping that the truck will stop correctly this winter since we live in Wisconsin and have snow and ice that we have drive in on a regular basis. This is concerning and we are debating as to whether or not the truck will be safe to drive. We called the manufacturer today about the part to repair the problem and there is not one yet. They said we could have a dealership do a “temporary fix” that we would have to pay for and have reimbursed. It was hard to understand the 2 people we talked to (from the Philippines - had heavy accents), so we don’t know if that “fix” really would work. They also said we could get a truck rental through the dealership, but we have no idea if they would pay for it or not, or how long it will be until there is an actual part produced by the company that will fix the problem. We are hesitant to do that if the cost would be on our shoulders, since it could be substantial. So, we may be without our vehicle this winter. It also looks like we will not be able to take our camper south for the winter this year like we always have done since we retired a few years ago due to this safety issue. This is not acceptable and we would like some answers.

Abs light and traction control light stays on plus keeps popping up to service electric trailers brakes. Electric trailer brakes well not work. Cruise control stopped working. All do to recall. Truck has had this recall for over a year now and I’ll I ever get told by dealerships that the parts are unavailable. Dodge makes this junk ass trucks everyday so I don’t understand why parts are unavailable.

ABS module/ HCU faulty. This has been replaced 2 times and lasts 3 years. Dealership says no fix has been made at this time for recall. No new parts to fix it, ABS light constantly going off.

Recall 24V-896, cannot be repaired, no repair timeline in site, vehicle is coding and dealership has confirmed code. Driving cruise will turn off and braking system becomes difficult and unstable. Warning systems come one. Dealership attempted to repair but manufacture advised they were not allowed to do so because it would not be permanent. Dealership has advised to park unit and contact Chrysler for buyback. We have called Chrysler customer care daily for 3 weeks with no success and no end in sight. The will not provide daily driver solution, vehicle replacement or repair fix. This is part of our daily driver to and from work and to and from farm to carry trailer with cattle. It is unsafe without proper braking system functioning and dealership has confirmed this and advised us to not operate. Chrysler has also advised us to not operate since it has coded but has offered no options. Dealership confirmed code on or about 8/22/2025

•Side curtain airbag malfunction front driver's side. The truck has a warning light for the airbag and the computer diagnostics says it is a side airbag malfunction. The vehicle is well kept and has not been damaged. Mopar does not lost this malfunction and recall as included in my VIN •Cruise control malfunction The cruise control sporadically does not turn on when the button is pressed. The button may need to be pressed a dozen times before it activates and cruise control is available to be set for a given speed and then engaged. This has occurred since purchase brand new at the original dealership at less than 25 miles on odometer. Mopar does not list this malfunction/recall for my VIN. •Hydraulic Control Unit recall difficulties. The dealership has stated multiple times it has no replacement parts to do the recall repair covered under NHTSA Recall # 24V-896.

Under the Recall information it shows that this vehicle is unsafe to drive due to the ABS system in Major. It will go off and go on all by itself while I’m driving. and they can’t get the part I need.

AT THE TIME THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON IT SO WE PAID A TOTAL OF $2,030. WE HAD ADDED A FUEL FILTER CHANGE WHILE WE HAD THE VEHICLE THERE. ONCE WE RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER WE FILED FOR A REFUND. I RECEIVED AN EMAIL STATING THAT THEY WOULD ONLY REFUND $1656.00 . WHEN I WROTE BACK..’’ MAY I ASK WHY I AM NOT GETTING A FULL REFUND?’’ I RECEIVED A VERY RUDE EMAIL THAT THE PAYMENT WAS FINAL WITH NO OTHER EXPLANATION!! I CALLED TWICE TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED TO NO PREVAIL. I TOLD THEM THAT I DID NOT EXPECT THEM TO PAY FOR THE FUEL FILTER BUT THAT STILL LEFT $250. BECAUSE OF MY HUSBAND BEING A DISABLED VETERAN WE RECEIVED A DISCOUNT AND PAID NO TAXES WHICH SAVED FCA MONEY!!! I WANT THE $250 THAT IS OWED TO US.

ABS INTERMITTENTLY ALARMS VERY FREQUENTLY AND CAUSES THE CRUISE CONTROL TO DROP OUT. I ASSUME THE ABS IS USELESS AND THIS TAKING PLACE. I’M TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.

In November 2024 through December 2025 our Ram started experiencing issues with the traction control and ABS lights coming on randomly and the vehicle not braking properly. Braking in corners is very sketchy and feels like you are going to run off the road. As December went on, all brake related lights stayed on and the truck feels like it has manual brakes from the 1970s. We received a Legal Notice explaining there is a class action settlement going on due to the ABS module and Brake HCU on our truck in late December 2024. We did not drive the truck long distances for the latter half of December due to the issues we were experiencing plus receiving the legal notice. A couple weeks into January 2025 we received a notice from FCA US LLC indicating there is a safety recall for the Brake HCU which affects the ABS and ESC systems. The notice said the vehicle may lose control and cause a crash without prior warning. Due to this second notice and the fact that our truck was having more issues with the braking systems and the lights were permanently on, we parked the truck mid January 2025 and have not driven it since. In early March we contacted the local dealership Morie's of Little Fall, MN as well as Chrylser/Mopar asking when our truck can be repaired and explained this is our daily driver and only safe vehicle we have for distances over 30 miles. Neither of them have been helpful and could not give us an answer. The service person at Morie's confirmed our vehicle is a part of the recall and the things we are experiencing would be related. He advised we do not drive the vehicle either. We are now mid April, THREE MONTHS WITHOUT A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE, and we have received no further communication from anyone relating to our truck. It is still parked and unsafe to drive. Action needs to be taken to remedy this situation. We are normally a two vehicle household down to one that can't be driven far and one that can't be driven at all.

On August 10, 2022 the truck was presented to the dealership because the ABS system was failing. This was prior to the recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. I paid to have the system repaired. A recall was issued AFTER that date. I submitted a claim and was paid for my expenses by FCA. On March 3, 2025 the system notification system flashed warning the the ABS system was failing. I immediately took the truck to Mac Haik dealership and was advised that I could safely drive the truck until the following Monday when I could drop it off for diagnostic testing. The diagnostic testing revealed that the system was failing BUT FCA would not cover the full cost of the repairs. They would require "Customer Participation" payment of $546.00. I refused the repair because the repairs done August 2022, PRIOR to the recall was failing, so that told me that the parts utilized August 2022 were faulty and should be replaced under the terms of the recall and not require "Customer Participation of $546. I need your help to get FCA to replace and repair their faulty manufacturing.

My ABS light keeps coming on intermittently. I been calling mopar since this recall started in 2024 and they are not supplying needed parts to the dealership to fix it. I call mopar and no ETA on the parts. I want this fixed since they said it can cause my truck to wreck with no notice. I have kids in my truck all the time and mad on delay. How are they getting by not fixing this.

I have received an "Important Safety Recall" issued for my vehicle. In the notice, it states that "The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." I have contacted the dealership as well as RAM offices with no answer other than that the part is not available. As a safety issue, this is unacceptable. Please know that legal representation will be sought out.

The ABS brake warning lights are on all the time. I have no cruise control. There are times when I can't even shift my vehicle into gear. I will be checking to see if I even have 4wd with this light on. But, haven't tried it since the lights have been on.

The Anti-Brake system ABS and ESC Electronic Stability Control alert keeps coming on and off on my dashboard. The cruise control will shut off by itself when this alert comes on. The alerts appear randomly and all various speeds. I took this to the dealership in October of 2022 for this issue and they replaced the anti-lock brake controller and bled the brakes. I had to pay $1000 out of pocket cost as my truck was no longer under warranty. The same issue has started occurring again in June of 2024. I changed out the wheel speed sensors at that time thinking perhaps that was causing the issue since I got the repair done in 2022 and I noticed that the issue occurs frequently, especially when I hit a bump in the road. However the issue still occurs and I see that this has been a known issue by Ram for some time and a RECALL for the HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT is due to be mailed out January 9, 2025.

ABS won't stay engaged causing traction control to not stay engaged and causes cruise control to not stay engaged. Skidding and loss of control are possible without ABS and traction control systems working. Loss of cruise control can cause rear impact from sudden slow down. Same problems are occurring in similar vehicles. Console chimes and ABS and traction control indicator lights come on. Message to service ABS system appears on console.

This is 3rd time I have had ABS failed. Truck only has 66,000 miles on it and this has happened for 3rd time. Has been twice repaired by Ram dealer in Denham Springs Louisiana. Evidently parts are defective. I am original owner. First time happened at 24,700 miles. Second time at 48,200 miles. Third time at 66,000 miles. Evidently bad parts.

I am getting a warning saying to service the anti lock brakes and the traction control. I have had this same issue before and paid the dealership to fix it. Also when the warning appears the cruise control shuts off. I am concerned about the loss of control of the vehicle.

The ABS dash light and traction control light started coming on about a year ago. the light is intermittent with a ding sound. Some days it comes on non stop, sometimes it doesn’t come on at all. cruise control does not work, and “park rear” button is not able to get out of the off mode.

As I am driving, (2018 ram 2500 6.7l with 45000 miles) the “service electronic brake system” and “service automatic brake system” will flash on and off intermittently. I took it to the dealership and they stated possibly the HCU. But since the codes flash intermittently and at completely random times they couldn’t say fer sure. But it does have to do with HCU system. I did a quick google search and discovered this is a recurring issue with the 2017-2018 Ram models.

Thai dang ABS going out in these trucks. And still no fix. Went out when going down the high way. Kicked out Cruze co trip 4 we and all sensors. Brake module malfunction kicks out cruise control and dings constantly. Seems to be a recall for other years but this year is missing?

My abs/traction control and electric braking system warning light has recently cone one for the third time. The first time it was repaired around 3,200 miles, the second time was around 32,000 miles and now around 72,000 miles. The light flases randomly and when it does i can't use my cruise control.My vehicle can be inspected any time.

Intermittent ABS brake error code C0020 - "Recirculation pump general electrical failure". This error occurs then clears within seconds while normal driving. No special weather conditions, road conditions or temperatures noted. May drive 5 miles, 50 miles or 500 miles before error occurs again. Only 6150 miles on vehicle. Repair parts scarce or not available.

We were notified the complete unit was not available and only the possibility of the control motor was available at this time at a cost of $1400 give or take. On 07/02/2022 I had my Dodge Ram 2500 serviced and assessed for Electronic Braking System Warning and Service Soon light on, by Farlow Automotive 500 S. Wickham Road, West Melbourne, FL 32904 (321) 724-8888. The issue was diagnosed and identified as a bad ABS Control Module as well as a bad ABS Hydraulic Unit. The parts were ordered and installed on 07/20/2022. Following the installation the same Electronic Braking System Warning and Service Soon light went on again. I brought the truck back to Farlow Automotive immediately after the new braking units were installed and it was diagnosed as a faulty ABS Control Module and ABS Hydraulic Unit from the manufacturer. It has been over 2 years since the faulty ABS control module and ABS hydraulic unit has been installed and we have not received appropriate replacement to remedy this important braking system malfunction. We have experienced daily warning lights for 2 years plus, saying service Electronic Braking System. We tow an 8500 pound recreational vehicle for family outings that has repeatedly created significant concerns for the safety of myself and my family for the past 2 years. Farlow Automotive has informed me that they have been in contact with the manufacturer of the ABS Control Module and ABS Hydraulic Unit and that they continue to say it should be here soon but has not arrived after 2 years. For the safety of myself and my family as well as the safety of others driving on the highway, we have remained at risk of Electronic Breaking System failure for over 2 years, without any resolution.

Abs control module & HCU module not working properly. Ram brand knows about these problematic modules on the 2014-2018 rams trucks. Now, I can’t drive my truck since Ram fixes this issue.

ABS Pump failure: First occurrence July 18 2022. Mileage 24268 ABS pump replace under warranty by dealership. Second occurrence: July 23 2024 Mileage 45907 ABS pump not replaced as of yet, parts out of warranty by one week. OEM warranty out by 25 months. I am the original owner and this vehicle has been gently used and not abused. The ABS pump failure, two occasions, of a part which should be have a life expectance of 100,000 miles, minimum.. Two failures at less than 50K miles in my mind is not acceptable, especially with a safety related part. From the research I have done, additionally talking with other owners and dealership technicians, this is a common problem especially with the 2017 - 2018 year model vehicles. Something should be done to rectify this issue.

My ABS system has started going off and on intermittently but regularly. It turns my cruise control off and creates a hazardous situation with both traveling on interstate and when raining as I have no ABS.

[XXX]. Location : somewhere in rural Pennsylvania. Incident ahead of me in heavy traffic. Applied brakes, more forcefully than usual. Immediately warning lights and audible alarm appeared on dash. “Service ABS system” . Was located in very rural area , no safe place to exit highway. At next exit , pulled off , brakes appeared to be functioning as normal. But dash warning lights proclaimed no ABS system and no traction control. Also lost function of cruise control and trailer brake control.. cautiously proceeded to destination. Relative had code reader - revealed code C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control. Investigation on internet revealed this is a very common problem among Ram 2500 trucks. Very expensive and not covered under warranty. I believe the NHTSA has received numerous reports from other Ram owners as to this problem. This situation is very unsafe with the loss of these very important safety features. Issue with the Hydraulic Control Unit. It requires replacing.

Hi, The ABS System shows Service Antilock Brake System at the display, It comes and go so I assume that it is an intermittent issue, it does stays for hours or days and go on ad off during the whole drive, definitely is an issue. It allow the brakes to preventing locket when brake on certain circumstances. Had an issue on a wet pavement and have to handle to avoid crash with other vehicle cause the tires got locket and the truck slipped on the pavement for a considerable amount of feet's. Dealer inspected and replaced the module under warranty when I bought the truck and told me that it has to be replaced again.

The Hydraulic Control Unit begins to malfunction presenting on the ECU as C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control-General Electrical Failure. This is fairly common in 4th generation 2500-3500 RAM trucks. The malfunction affects the ABS system, Traction Control system, and Adaptive Cruse Control system by deactivating them when the malfunction presents. This could cause the braking system and other systems to not perform in hard breaking/ emergency braking situations causing the operator to loose control of the vehicle. The Traction Control system and ABS system warning lights illuminate on the dash and the message of "service electronic braking system" is displayed on the HUD.

ABS and traction control lights come on intermittently. Cruise control won’t work when this happens. Problem seems to be a wiring issue and mainly happens during wet conditions and then stops after engine compartment warms up. I’m guessing ABS brake’s won’t function when light is on.

The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, an alarm sounded, and the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving, causing the ABS and the cruise control features to become inoperable. The contact stated while driving and slamming on the brakes on several occasions to come to a complete stop, the ABS was inoperable, causing the tires to lock and the vehicle to slide. The contact who is an independent mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced. An unknown dealer was contacted for parts several times and informed the contact that the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

For the second time since the vehicle's purchase in 2019, the Antilock Braking System is flashing an intermittent error stating that the Antilock Braking System needs to be serviced. When the system flashes the error, the antilock brakes, cruise control, and stability control become disabled. The error sometimes will clear itself, and then immediately return a minute or two later. Three years ago I had this same issue repaired once before under the vehicle warranty. At that time, I was told the Hydraulic Control Unit for the ABS system had failed. Now, without warning or reason the system is failing once again and RAM refuses to replace this defective part. Through an online investigation, I have discovered that thousands of Ram owners are experiencing the same defective part and circumstances. Without proper functioning brakes, antilocking brakes and stability control, the vehicle cannot be driven without great risk to the vehicle's operator and occupants, and additionally other motorists.

It happens some days but not every day. Some days there is a constant alarm chime and cruise won't activate. On 10/24/23, parts weren't scheduled to be released until February 2024. Charged over $100 diagnostic fee for the ABS, traction control lights on the dash. By looking at other reports, this has been an issue for several years. They have known for over 2 years that there is an issue. Why is it taking so long to get a fix in place? ABS is a safety system. This should be a recall. The recall should cover replacing the brake pads and rotors also.

The cruise control then inadvertently deactivated. The Service Electronic Brake System message was displayed, and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the speedometer and tachometer dropped to zero while driving. The contact pulled over and turned off the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to restart. The contact disconnected and reconnected the battery to reset the vehicle. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the HCU was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was determined that the ABS module needed to be replaced; however, the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE22012 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

Warning lights and audible warning for ABS and emergency braking along with traction control have been active for several months. Dealer determined the ABS control module is faulty and needs replaced. Current lead-time for the part is 7 months and cost to replace is $1,200. While the warning is active the cruise control and traction control are de-activated. During a recent rain storm I had to accelerate to avoid a merging vehicle on the freeway and the rear tires broke loose due to the lack of traction control and sent me into an uncontrolled fish-tail across 3 lanes. Fortunately traffic was light and everyone was able to avoid me and I got it under control and stopped just before hitting the freeway barrier wall.

2018 Ram 2500 6.7 L Problems with ABS Module Control. Replaced in October of 2021 now bad again and on back order with no date available. This module controles abs braking, traction control which are safety items designed into the truck. I've had the truck to 2 different repair shops and both confirm the problem and both tell me that Ram is having a problem with this part and the the part is on backorder

The truck began flashing problems with the anit lock brakes and electronic brakes off and on. For over two months now, the service lights stay on along with the traction control warning light. I have called multiply locations trying to locate replacement parts to no avail. The brake pedal sometimes is difficult to push and the antilock brakes failed at a slow speed once. I have reached out for help several times and keep being told that the part is not available and will not be available for months. Last time before today I was told Feb. I called today and was told it wouldn't be until June. This is my only vehicle to get back and forth to work and to get my son to athletic events. I really need this problem corrected.

We took it to a mechanic that informed us a recall should be called because it was a common problem that 2018 Ram 2500 have been experiencing. A recall still hasn’t been called even though many people have had the same issue.

This vehicle has faulty or defective ABS braking system. The warning lights and warning chimes have been constantly going off for approx. 2 years. The Dodge/Ram dealerships admits that this is an industry wide defect with 2017 and 2018 Ram 2500 trucks, but say they have no parts to correct the problem. Their suggestion to me was to buy a new truck which is not acceptable or affordable. This was identified by both the dealership and Chrysler as being a safety issue with no resolution from Chrysler or dealer. I use vehicle to transport my grandchildren and livestock and truly doubt my ability to operate safely without the Federally required working ABS system. They said abs module is bad and said a new one has been ordered but there is a national back order and no info on timing of receiving the part. Told me to take the truck and drive home. The ABS module failed and was replaced April of 2022 at Terry Hendricks Ram in Archbold Ohio under extended warranty. Now I’m in Titusville Florida for the winter and same issue, ABS lights and service traction control with the constant dinging. Parks Chrysler Ram here has order same part again, they said will take a couple weeks to get a replacement as there’s a waiting list because it’s a on going issue with these trucks. 51,000 miles on it and stated there is a 2 year warranty on this part. This now does not have the antilock working again and could be a safety issue. Should have a recall on this.

"Service ABS System" came on dash after normal braking entering a intersection. Truck pulsated and didnt allow brakes to be applied as I entered the intersection. No collision. ABS warning continues to come on

Since incident, the messages continue to appear in my dash. "Service Antilock Brake System" and "Service Electronic Braking System", flashing on and off erratically. I talk directly to Mopar which is overseas, and they tell me it isn't covered because its under the basic warranty which has expired. I asked them to send me the documentation so I can see it in writing and they said they cannot send it or show it to me and that only they can see this information. I am concerned that they are not being honest with the warranty coverage because my five year/100,000 expires in June 2024; and ironically they said the ABS part isn't available until June.

Vehicle's "Service Anti-Lock Brake System" light and warning tone is coming on intermittently. I researched this to a common problem with the Hydraulic Control Unit (failure), which is known by the dealer to be common problem among 2017-2018 Ram trucks. Problem with the original manufacturer of this unit, with no parts available for replacement at this time.

ABS lights go on and the truck chimes sometimes, not all the time. Cruise intermittently does not work as well. This is a well-documented issue online. I took this to the original dealer and he said this is a common problem. Even after getting it fixed, it will occur again. The dealer said it is still supposedly safe to drive, but it is very concerning to see ABS warning lights regularly popping up on my dashboard. Many others have parked their trucks and are not driving them because of this issue.

I'm just reporting the failure of my HRU as many RAM owners have experienced. The dealer ship replaced the part with the new model. When this fails it happened at highway speeds disabling the cruise control while towing a trailer. Becuase of busy traffic and under heavy weight when the truck fell on its face. I was almost rear-ended due to the sudden loss of speed. Very dangerous when towing.

At exactly 75100 miles my 2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman gets a warning light to service my anti-lock braking system. Since I was on a trip I also noticed when the warning comes on it also disengages the cruise control. This has been happening for over 1,000 miles and a couple of months. I've tried to look up to see if there's a recall, but there isn't. I do see several hundred posts/complaints online and even other people contacting NHTSB about this issue. My truck seems to be acting fine now, but I haven't had the time to bring it into a dealership since I'm constantly on the road. I have tried to contact a Ram dealership service department, but no help come of it. Since Ram knows about this, they should recall the trucks and fix them.

Got a code for service abs system, abs module pump bad. Ram cannot even get people in to fix the issue and they want like 2000 dollars out the door to fix this unsafe issue. ABS & traction control lights on along with messages reading "Service Antilock braking system and Service Electronic Braking System. 1st intermittently then very often. Code C0020-01 is stored in the system via OBDII scanner. It is available for inspection at any time. I can not tow anything that requires trailer brakes because I here, through many other online complaints that trailer braking will be inhibited. I have not yet taken it to the dealer yet because it is out of warranty and the part required to fix it properly won't be built/available until Feb 2024. I first saw warning lights/messages in July of this year 2023 with around 37,000 miles. See attached pics.

The truck intermittently shows an alarm for failure of the abs braking system. This suddenly shuts off the cruse control and disables the abs. The loss of cruse control caused the truck to suddenly drop in speed in a highway traffic situation, which nearly caused a car behind me to hit me. The loss of abs leaves the truck vulnerable to brake related accidents in slippery or wet weather. I contacted a dealer for the replacement parts and they told me they would not be available until a new generation of abs module and hydraulic control unit were available. I believe the NHTSA should demand a recall for this extensive and dangerous issue.

This is my 4th HCU/ABS Failure. 3 Priors were replaced/reported in FEB/March to NHTSA. ABS / HCU System Failed. My safety was directly impacted. This should become an immediate recall since it directly impacts the safety features of the vehicle as well as the cruise control system, which may suddenly deactivate and cause sudden deceleration. Dealership quotes parts are almost a year out, and I will be stuck driving the vehicle in an unsafe manner until it is repaired.

Went to the dealer twice to correct the problem and still having the same issue. 4. The vehicle was inspected and worked on by Ram Dealer. 5. No warning lights before failure.

I have been trying to get my vehicle with 17 k miles repaired since May 2023, and to date the parts, ABS Module and HCU pump are not available. Winter is fast approaching and my ABS light continues to flash also disabling the cruise control. The constant dinging is very annoying and driving the vehicle continues to be very aggravating. I have repeatedly contacted my local dealer and they continue to push out the date when parts will be available. They are not able to confirm engineering design review due in February 2024 when parts might be available. Really! Would it be possible for NHTSA to advise me on maybe when a solution to this problem might happen.

2018 RAM 2500, 140,000 miles. During a long trip home to ND traveling on interstate 29 in SD warning lights appeared on the dash indication ABS problems. The cruise control also stopped working. We checked it with a code reader and it indicated a cose associated with the ABS brake system failure. ABS brake system failure, ABS pump motor control failure, also affecting loss of cruise control. Code C0020-01 confirmed. RAM dealers report that corrected replacement parts are not available and loss of brakes could result possibly causing harm to the vehicle and passengers.

The ABS/Anti Skid warning lights and notifier goes off every one to three minutes, clears itself then repeats. I travel two hours to work and return to the obsessive malfunction.

The ABS and traction control indicator lights come on and off intermittently. This is a huge safety concern has the ABS and traction control may malfunction. This issue has been brought to the dealer and they replaced parts less than two years ago. It has reoccurred less than two years later.

Service ABS and Electrical Braking System lights constantly turn on and off making an audible beeping noise while vehicle is driving. Sometimes lights stay off for a little, other times it turns on and off repeatedly, and sometimes it stays on for entire time. Unknown if braking system is working properly if they were needed in an emergency situation.

My ABS HCU sensor has failed and is causing my ABS system, traction control, and cruise control to stop working. Due to the high failure rate of this part RAM / Mopar is refusing to release any available parts for repair until February / March 2024. There are currently 4,000 of these parts in stock on the east coast but the company will not release them until 2024. Instead RAM / Mopar is asking me to continue driving my vehicle for 5 months with a failing ABS system, no traction control, and intermittent 4WD. The component has been inspected by the local RAM dealership and has been determined to be faulty while under warranty.

The ABS and traction control systems on our 2018 2500 RAM truck are failing randomly, and the warning lights are coming on. The cruise control system is also randomly failing. Therefore, as we drive the vehicle and using cruise control the vehicle will randomly turn off the system causing safety concerns. The braking system and traction safety systems are not working properly and safely. The cruise control issues have been occurring for about 2 to 3 months. Over the last 1 to 1.5 months the ABS and traction control systems have started randomly failing and turning on the warnings lights and bell. We took the vehicle in for service today at the RAM dealer and was informed that the parts are backordered and unknown when any parts would be available. The dealer confirmed the systems are not functioning properly and provided written estimates and summaries of their findings. The dealer advises to replace the HCU and retest the system. The dealer advised to replace the steering wheel wiring and cruise control switch. The vehicle mileage at the time of the dealer evaluations was 23,052 miles.

The ABS/Traction Control module has a known by manufacturer malfunction where the system fails, and you can be left without proper abs and traction control. This system can malfunction causing something as simply as the inability to activate cruise control to the inability to have proper abs braking. I've taken the truck to an independent shop as well as the delarship and both times they say there is a backorder on the part that can take over a year to replace and the charge for a safety feature that is a known malfunction is over $500. Also to lead on with the frustration of this, they offer just to use your standard brakes without braking hard (as if one can control unknown incidents requiring harder braking) as well as using the exhaust brake system. This is a safety concern that needs to be addressed and fixed, and not told to wait over a years time to possibly get the control module.

ABS/HCU modules have failed. A loss of ABS and braking power have been experienced. When towing, this creates a problem as it happens very suddenly and intermittently, placing myself and others at risk of loss of braking power. Warning lamps indicating ABS failure/electronic braking system service is needed come on only when braking, and is intermittent. There is no indication of a problem until brakes are applied.

Recently the ABS Warning light and Service Electronic Braking System light have been coming on intermittently. When it happens an audible alarm goes off and several functions shut down, like the cruise control. The problem has no rhyme or reason and some days it happens for several hours and some days it never happens. I am concerned that the ABS is not working properly but also concerned that I might be using cruise control on the highway and it shuts down creating a hazard and possibly accident. I have not contacted the dealer but see that it is a common problem with my vehicle on online forums and that there are class action suits for the issue. This should be handled by the manufacturer with a recall before someone gets killed. Currently the dealers are making a fortune making repairs that often recur in a short period.

I have a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck and my ABS engine light came on back in February 2023 indicating that I have a problem with my braking and traction control system. It was because of the Hydraulic Control Module was bad. I Contacted a Factory Chrysler Parts supplier to obtain a new part to have it replaced but they were on backorder until June. In June I contacted them again and was told they were on back order until October 2023. I just contacted them again 9/27/23 and now I am being told the part is on back order until February 2024. This will be a full year causing me to drive without the ABS or Traction control not working, as well as not having cruise control. Doing a search on the internet there are a lot of others having the same issue which is bad enough but when you can't even get the replacement part for over a year on a piece of safety equipment for your vehicle . This is more then a safety issue.

I have a 2018 Ram 2500 - 6.7 Cummins diesel, The service ABS system and service electronic brake system dash lights come on and go off constantly. Every time they come on there is an alarm that goes off, and it also kicks the cruise control out. This problem started had around 32,000 miles and has continued to now 71,000 miles. I have tried multiple times to have this, diagnosed with a system reader with no luck. Have had the system reset also with no luck. I’ve read on multiple Dodge/Ram forums that this is an ongoing problem with 2017-18 and up Rams that they refuse to address. Any information would greatly be appreciated to get these problems resolved as it appears there are multitudes of people having the same issue. I started getting a "service electronic braking system" message in the EVIC intermittently

first evidence of a problem had to deal with the accelerator pedal A new pedal was installed. .The engine would start but only idle, truck would not move when put into drive .It had to be towed .Then it was something about a door sensor .It was replaced .Then the brake fluid problem started. It used 2 full quarts with no drips on the floor . Now I am told that the brake booster / hydraulic system Is the problem. This truck Has only 31,000 miles ,Not driven in the winter and looks like new . I am now afraid of the safety issues associated with plowing into another vehicle in a panic stop , The truck has been in the dealer (Jeff Wyler ,Canal Winchester, Ohio ) for nearly 8 weeks . My truck is at approximately 35,000 miles. It recently started notifying me that the Anti-Lock Braking System and the Traction Control need to be serviced. While researching, I noticed that there were numerous reports of drivers with the same issue on forums related to Ram trucks. It appears that this is a very common issue that has not been addressed by Ram.

Anti-loc braking system, and electronic braking system issues. Modules needed. Ram has back-ordered them for months. There appears to be a class action suit starting, What is NHTSA doing?

ABS / Service Electronic Braking System lights constantly dinging on and off while driving my truck. Cannot get parts for repair.

Truck is showing service message "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service Anti-Lock Brake System". Service message comes and goes constantly, chiming and making cruise control unusable. Several times I have almost had a collision on the interstate because the vehicle will drop out of cruise control expectantly. I have researched the issue and the required replacement parts are on national back order until Jan/Feb of 2024. So not only do I have to listen to the dang chiming noise, I don't have fully functioning ABS or Traction Control. This is a serious issue that RAM needs to deal with. I know an investigation is underway already: Preliminary Evaluation PE22-012. Please add my complaint to the growing list of RAM owners facing this serious issue.

For the third time in 37000 miles the abs system including ABS system and electronic brake system has failed. This has been repaired around 15000 miles and recently at 35000 and it went out again at 37000 miles. Didn't last 2500 miles after last repair. When this happens trailer brakes quit functioning and cruise control also quits working as well as every few minutes the system gives you a continuous warning chime. From checki9ng a few web sites this seems to be an on going problem on the 2018 trucks mostly but a few 17s. Last info I have is parts are not avail for repairs until at least 2/24 and then only maybe. The truck is unsafe to drive especially when towing a larger trailer. This needs to be made a recall for safety concerns. I had to trade off my truck due to how I use it and no expectation for a repair time or date.

ABS system doesn't work. Was inspected by NAPA Pugh's Car Care Center. My safety is at risk because the brakes do not work correctly. Warning lights are on. Appeared March 2023.

I purchased my vehicle on 6/25/2019. At 951 miles on 5/11/20 my ABS system went out and was replaced under warranty. At 11917 miles on 9/17/21 my ABS system went out again and was replaced under warranty. Now at 37605 miles my truck is intermittently having my ABS system going out which eventually it has gone into total failure. My truck is now out of warranty.

ABS module and HCU module are at fault. Have been driving it and lights and dings will come on and off at random. When lights are on I cannot use electric brakes for my trailers either. Dangerous when I’m hauling live horses and no trailer brakes. This is a common issue that Chrysler refuses to recall.

At around 50,000 miles the ABS light started coming on. This affects traction control and speed control. Dealer said it was the ABS Control Module and is a known issue but not a recall. Finally repaired at my cost of $ 1,103.32. st 57,377 miles on 9/13/2022. Less than 12 months later it is doing it again on 7/29/2023 at 69,649 Miles. This seems to be hazard as the ABS does not work or traction control. Also cuts off the cruise control when it occurs.

Intermittent Abs Failure. Kicks off cruise control and looses ABS brakes and traction control. Very dangerous. Lost this ability while pulling my RV Camper on wet roads. Went into other on coming lane do to sliding and skidding. I guess this is a very well known issues with no recall or information from Mopar\ Ram to the owners. This almost killed me My wife and my 3 year old grandson.

Lights keep coming on for ABS System Check and Electronic Braking System check. Doing research online there are thousands of ram 2500s with the same issue. They keep appearing and then disappearing starting happening July 24th 2023 at around 57,000 miles. I have a appointment with the dealer set up but they can't get me in till August 16th. 2018 RAM 2500 6.7l service abs system and service electronic braking system warnings on dash. Took vehicle to mechanic shop and scan showed code C0020-01. Symptom/Vehicle issuse: C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. Replacing the HCU and ABS Module seems to be the fix. The ABS Hydraulic Pump seems to have failed and perhaps took out the ABS control module. Nothing catastrophic happened on road. Simply lost ABS, Traction Control, and Cruise control….and soon $1,500 The hydraulic pump was listed in the Ram Dealer parts system as “Under Engineering Review” for at least a couple months and i can’t find out what that was about, the resolution, etc…. Wanted to log here in case it becomes a regular occurrence on these vehicles.

I've been dealing with the ABS light going on & off with alarm constantly chiming for almost 2 years now. The anti lock breaking is compromised as is my cruise control. I can no longer operate the vehicle safely and I've had to park my truck permanently, which has created many economic and logistical issues for me and my family. I work 60+ a week to support a 2 and 4 year old child. The abs modulator and hydraulic unit need to be replaced according to the dealership (Ferman Dodge, Holiday, Florida) and (2) other non-dealer mechanics (Hilton Automotive, Ocala and Tuffy Spring Hill) have stated the same when I sought a 2nd and 3rd opinion. I don't understand why there's not a recall? Please, advise to the steps the NHTSA is taking to resolve this ongoing issue. I'm still waiting on the part/ parts to become available and I've been waiting for over a year now. I've reached out to every possible avenue that I know of to source the parts, to include aftermarket non-Mopar parts, and I'm being told they are still on back order. I can not afford to sell my truck in it's current state, as its currently "unrepairable" and that has severely diminished its value. I should not have to absorb that loss because of Dodge's negligence. Dodge needs to be held accountable for this, I purchased a very expensive truck in search or reliability and safety and I have received neither of those things. The ABS Module has failed, only 20k miles on the truck. RAM advises they have 10 trucks locally waiting on the same part, and advise a national shortage as this part had a manufacturing problem. They will not provide a part # to replace it as they don't know what it will be. Cruise control will not work either due to the safety issue of the problem. I have a safety concern about the use of the vehicle now and Ram cannot fix or private garages can not get the part either.

ABS & Traction light flickers and stays on. Brakes have pulsed. This is very dangerous for my family and myself. Ram wants to charge me $$ for a manufacturing defect that they are all to aware of. This not fare.

Following a Uconnect update in March 2023 the vehicle exhibited the following errors: rear parking sensors failed, ABS brake failure, cruise control failure. ABS module was replaced 5/5/23 at cost to me of $529.86 by RAM dealer. Per dealer, ABS system will not function as ABS motor (HCU) must also be replaced and is not available pending "engineering review" in late August. Vehicle is like new with 23,000 miles on it. The vehicle is no longer operating as designed by Dodge RAM causing risk to me and others. This is a known issue to the manufacturer and they have failed to issue a recall and correct the problem on this vehicle.

On my way to work one day the check engine light,ABS light and traction control light came on and I thought something under the hood had came loose thought nothing about it and went into work when I came back out and got into the truck the lights where gone no big deal just sorta let it go and since I work out of state this is the truck I drive when I go back to my home state so I drove it 4 hours one way and never had a problem and then on my way back to my work state the truck shut off and wouldn’t start back up for about 45 minutes or so but when it did it had a red lightning bolt,ABS,traction control and check engine light on so I called the dealership and asked them to check on it but by the time they got it in the shop the lights had went back off and they told me that nothing was wrong with it so I went to pick it up the next day but as soon as I got 1/2 a mile down the road it started the same thing brakes going in and out truck shutting off so they paid for it to be towed back and figured out that the egr and the abs brake module was going out and tried to make me pay for everything out of pocket because it had just went out of warranty with ram but it had the extended warranty and keep in mind this truck has 30k miles on it but anyways they replaced the egr but have yet to replace the abs braking module

ABS control valve has failed twice was replaced on 11/01/2021 at 67429 miles. On 5/09/2023 truck was put in shop with same problem. Dealer now wants to replace the ABS control valve and the controller

The ABS system failed on my truck while under warranty (around 12,000 miles). I took it to my closest Ram dealer and they “fixed” it by replacing the hydraulic pump associated with the ABS. Everything was fine until about 3 months ago when it failed again. I took it to my local dealer about it and they told me the same part had failed and they would fix it under hood will since it had been with in 3 years. However, after waiting 3 months for a back ordered part to come in, turns out the ABS module failed and it should have been replaced the first time, but since it was not, I am now in the hook for it. Now I am stuck with a 2018 Ram which the ABS has now failed twice within 60,000 miles. The ABS system has been damaged since September 23, 2022 and I went to the dealer in West Palm Beach and the one in Ocala Fl and none of them have the part. And it's not just me, there are many people with the same problem.

I just purchased a 2018 Dodge Ram Crew Cab from Crown Dodge in Ventura Ca. Within 5000 miles of purchase the ABS has failed and my breaks locked up on the freeway! The truck was taken into the dealership and the service department told me that the part was backordered till mid August and to do ahead and drive it the next 3 1/2 months and assured me it was safe. They sent me home with the truck and said it was totally safe to drive but just don’t break hard or fast?! I left with the alarm beeping continuously and drove home. I am supposed to live without a truck for 4 months? This truck was purchased for towing my commercial fishing vessel daily to and from the harbor being used in conjunction with my limited entry fishing permits ie: crab, sea urchin, sea cucumber, lobster and deeper nearshore rockfish. Without the truck I can not launch the commercial boat that weighs approximately 8000 lbs. Dodge should be held to a higher standard for their trucks! Please HELP! HCU and ABS Module stopped working. My safety along with other people’s safety is put at risk because if the braking system is not working properly, especially in slippery or wet conditions, then I won’t be able to stop when needed, which can lead to a deadly crash. Yes, the problem was confirmed by the dealership that the hcu and abs control module will need to be replaced. However, the parts are on back order and do not know when they will be in stock, which is a terrible problem to have when it comes to somebody’s brakes. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone since the light came on, except for the dealership diagnosis. The abs light and traction control light pings intermittently. The cruise control stops working when the light pings which could also lead to a crash. Customers should not have to pay for the $1800 repair bill for a Chrysler faulty part.

The ABS light is on, states it needs to be fixed, we were told by our mechanic that this is a known issue. HCU unit fail and throws service ABS light. Cruise control does not work due to this issue. This started last November and are waiting for parts for the repairs. The truck only had around 74,000 miles when this started. Our repairs are going to be over $1200 to fix. This is crazy, Ram should be recalling these trucks and paying for the repairs.

ABS & Traction Light flicker on & off randomly at no specific duraction. I cannot predict when lamps will come on, also cruise control is disabled when lamps light up. I understand this has been an on-going issue for Ram.

I have had the ABS hydraulic module replaced several times by Firkins Automotive, now with the same Faulty Hydraulic module failing once again. The dealer had told me after the 2nd time this was replaced it was “junk” parts and there was no permanent repair. When this goes bad you lose all ABS function and traction control causing braking to be unstable and truck to have no traction control. On the dash is the ABS light, traction light and BRAKE light illuminated all the time with warning chimes.

The ABS/HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) failed again. This will be the 3rd HCU installed in my vehicle. The previous repair was completed 10 days ago. I have an open case with Stellantis, since the parts are on extreme backorder (3+ Months). My safety is at risk, because when this component fails, it directly impacts the ABS Brakes, Traction Control, Cruise Control, Parking Assistance, etc. The dealer has confirmed the issue. I am unsure what diagnostics the dealer has performed on the failed part. There are multiple warning lamps associate with BRAKE, ABS, Traction Control, Cruise Control, Parking Assist, Service Electronic Breaking System, etc.

Service Electronic Breaking System Light came on March 25, 2023. took truck to Ram dealership March 30th and was told the ABS Pump is going out so breaks won’t work correctly if I have to stop quickly. The replacement won’t be available until August 2023. Called another Ram dealership and was told it’s an engineering problem they are working on. Either way it’s a problem having a truck I can’t safely drive for 5 months due to the breaks not functioning properly. This should be a recall, my truck has 62,000 miles on it. It is going to cost $1360.00 to fix it in August.

All which could lead to ineffective braking, loss of control and inadvertent speed control disengagement. 3) Yes. Cameron JCDR dealership, Cameron, Texas, Mac Haik JCDR dealership, Temple, Texas. 4) Not at this time. A case has been started through Ram. Case # 85736004 5) Yes. All messages appeared at various times prior to me getting the vehicle to the dealerships for maintenance.

ABS module/ HCU. Abs light & traction control light is on. Was driving down the road when they lights started flashing. Have been waiting for parts for 4 months because its on national backorder.

Service Lights on dash. Service Antilock brake system, SERVICE electronic braking system. Defective part is HCU, hydraulic control unit. Part has been unavailable for over a year and part availability always pushed back on estimated arrival date. This safety issue needs to be addressed with a recall.

The ABS failed while on hwy. Researched, and break loss is a common problem in this gen pickup.

My 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 has a known faulty issue with the HCU/ABS (hydraulic control unit/Anti-Brake System). My ABS light continues to flash while driving. This problem is very well known with 2017-2018 RAM trucks. The local dealership stated that the part is on backorder till August. This will be $1,000.00 + fix from dealership. This has been an ongoing issue, not just myself but many RAM owners, that happens at various times. The issue occurs at various speeds, when I hit a bump, or when I hit the brakes. This issue needs to be resolved with Dodge Ram and a recall issued.

The Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) has failed for the second time on the truck which causes the ABS, traction control, parking sensors and cruise control all to fail, along with the electrical baking system for pulling trailers. This is the second time this has failed. The first was replaced at the dealership on 07/22/2021 when the truck had 29,983 miles on it. It has failed again with 42,125 miles on it, and the dealership will not cover it as it is not listed as a warranty item.

The ABS/Electronic Braking system failed before the truck even hit 50K miles, but I haven't been able to get a replacement module and have been told that these items are on back-order until an indeterminate time. However, the Electronic Braking System and ABS warning lights go off on my truck daily, especially if I drive over any rough roads or bumps. I've been having trouble getting my truck inspected because these parts can't get replaced. I've also noticed that the cruise control system on the RAM 2500 doesn't work sometimes and sometimes it comes on but it doesn't want to switch off when you hit the brakes, so I had to stop using it for fear it wouldn't turn off at all at some point.

ABS / HCU System Failed. My safety was directly impacted. I was driving 70MPH on the expressway and had a SUDDEN deceleration, which nearly caused a rear-impact collision. Various warnings and lights on the dash lit up with "Service Electronic Braking System". When the ABS / HCU system has an issue, it deactivates the cruise control, ABS System, traction control, and parking detection system. The dealer is able to verify the issue. I have taken the truck to the dealer, who is reporting a part shortage and multi-month backorder for the part. This is a huge safety issue, and could have killed me and my children. This should become an immediate recall since it directly impacts the safety features of the vehicle as well as the cruise control system, which may suddenly deactivate and cause sudden deceleration. Vehicles “service antilock breaks” code is flashing. Began doing this with under 15,000 miles. The cruise control and the anti lock breaks don’t operate as a result. Problem started as intermittent and is now a constant issue. It appears to be the hydraulic break control unit, and is a very common issue with this year of truck.

Vehicle has had multiple failures of the ABS system. One failure occurred while under warranty at 14,228 miles, but a subsequent failure at 45,994 miles is stated as "not covered" under standard or safety-related warranty. In the first failure, the "CONTROL A 68143491-AA" was replaced. For the second failure, "CONTROL A 68143491-AB" and "Module AN 68347098-AB" are to be replaced. The replacement has not occurred as of this date (3 months post diagnostic) due to a shortage of parts. It is claimed that there are so many failures of these parts and the pass-rate during manufacturing inspection is so poor that a resolution time for my primary vehicle is unknown. The quoted cost of this safety-related epidemic problem is near $2000 or almost 4% of the cost-new of the vehicle.

ABS SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE SECOND TIME. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER THEY REPLACED A PART AND NOW ITS BACK ON AND OFF.

At 36,100 miles I started getting ABS light warning flashing intermittently on my dash. I took it to a mechanic who told me it needed a ABS module and/or a controller device replacement but these parts have been on back order for the last four months (says RAM). It looks as if many, many people are having this same problem with this vehicle. This problem resigns the vehicle as inoperable since it involves a braking component that is obviously a safety issue. This is my only vehicle so I MUST drive it at times which makes me very nervous.

At 67k mileage my 2018 Ram 2500 abs, traction control and electronic braking system warning lights flash intermittently, dealer, auto parts store and several online sites state it is the ABS and HCU modules electrical failure. This causes the abs system to malfunction and poses immediate threat for crash especially while pulling trailers. When the lights flash the cruise control will no engage/disengage. No dealer has these module with no clear indication of availability as of 1/27/2023

While the vehicle was still in warranty ~30k miles, the ABS and traction control lights would flash off and on numerous times as the vehicle was driven. Knocking the cruise control off. The dealership replaced the ABS module and HCU. Less than 20k miles later the issue has come back again. The alarms and lights flash repeatedly every time I drive and traction control along with the cruise control is unavailable. Now the truck is out of warranty, and this is over $1000 to replace. This is a known and well documented issue with Ram and needs to be looked at for a recall. The parts are backordered for 9-12 months. And the replacement does not fix the issue.

Brakes seem to be intermittent. Check Electric Brake warning comes on every time you start the truck and has shutdown the ABS and cruise control options. This is a very big problem if you research it on the internet on Ram and Mopar forums.

The truck ABS, traction control, and service electric brake lights and warnings have flashed and beeped on and off and on and off every few seconds. I took the truck to the dealer to be fixed under warranty. The dealer states it has a bad HCU and no longer has anti lock brakes however I can still drive the truck with all that distraction going on in the dash. The part is on back order and I won’t have my truck repaired until February (2.5 months) This same part was also replaced a a little over year ago under warranty along with Abs sensors and wire harnesses. I have 2 friends with the same year trucks who also had to have the same repair done. Upon looking up information on the internet it seems like this has been a on going issue on the 4th generation ram trucks 1500-3500 models from 2012-2018 I feel the safety of this could cause a car accident by the distraction of the dash going nuts and the possibility of a vehicle skid while not having anti lock brakes properly working. I would hate to drive it putting my life as well as others drivers and passengers lives in the line due to this safety issue ram is having. The issue happens randomly some times non stop while driving and sometimes I can drive 15 miles or so with nothing then it will start again. It first happened when I had approximately 50,000 miles on the truck and has done it again at 73,500 miles. When the lights are on it will not allow cruise control to work or 4x4 to engage. I have not noticed anything else not working properly.

The ABS control module has begun failing sporadically while the vehicle is running. When this happens is disables the traction control system and the ABS system until the alarm clears, and if the vehicles cruise control is on, it immediately disengages. All of these symptoms deteriorate the safety margin of the vehicle, and cause mid-driving malfunctions that can be unpredictable. When the module is malfunctions both the ABS warning light and TCS warning light are illuminated and a text warning is displayed on the multifunction display of the gauge cluster. The contact found that the parts to rectify this issue are being rationed by Stellantis, leading to unacceptable lead times in simply procuring the parts. When added to the shop rates charged to fix this issue, the price of replacing this clearly defective component begins to total in the thousands of dollars. Therefore, in order to continue his profession and responsibly take care of my liabilities, operating a four-ton vehicle with a compromised braking system and have done so for two years now. In addition, the ABS Malfunction Indicator chimes repeatedly while driving, creating an endlessly distracting environment.

ABS Module and HCU bad with 40K miles, a WELL KNOWN ram issue that they continue to ignore and take thousands of Additional dollars out of consumers pockets as they seem to go bad JUST after the basic warranty expires. 70 thousand dollar truck that is garbage, and Ram won’t remedy this problem. Second power wagon I’ve owned, same issue, similar mileage.

ABS and HCU module failure on a vehicle with less than 50,000 miles on it following all maintenance intervals and instructions. ABS and Traction Control warning light keeps intermittently coming on and then a message saying that the Electric Brake system needs serviced. This has happened to my 2018 RAM at 17,000 miles. Dealer replaced ABS module under warranty and problem was solved. Now I am at 35,000 miles and the problem is back. Same exact issue. This needs to be a recall item ASAP and this seems to be a VERY common problem with these trucks. This could be very dangerous as these trucks are made for towing heavy loads and losing your anti-lock braking capabilities could be catastrophic to you or anyone else on the road.

There is plenty of owners complaints available via internet sites, such as the RAM Forum, documenting this safety issue and the lack of support by Chrysler to resolve the problem. FCA RamCares was at no help at all, and kept referring to recall V06, which is the drag link welding of jam nuts, which is also a hack job of a recall.

The abs pump and module have failed on my vehicle leaving it without abs, skid control and traction control. This is a very common issue and known by the dealers and manufacturer. Intermittent alert on ABS and Traction Control warnings. These warnings are not consistent and come on/off. Researched and found numerous issues on this model vehicle for same issue related to ABS/Traction Control pump. Checked the speed sensors, all are working and reporting same speed. Dealer wants 2 days to trouble-shoot and there is no guarantee this will not return. I have owned other vehicles - GMC, Ford, Subaru, etc - none of them have failed on a critical item like ABS/Traction Control.

Randomly my 2018 ram 2500 ABS/Traction control go out. It’ll happen for 10mins in an out. Sometimes not at all, and others all the time. When the ABS and traction control like come on and off on the dash it causes the brakes to become spongy and harder to brake.

While driving my 2018 Ram 2500, the Service Electrical Breaking System and Service Anti-locking Break System flashes on and off. It usually does this while traveling on a bumpy road or driving over railroad tracks. Sometimes it will go days without coming on and some days while driving it constantly beeps and flashes the entire time while driving and it really distracts me from driving. When I called my local Ram dealership Lander's Dodge Bossier City, to make an appointment, they knew that it was a 2018 Ram 2500 before I told them. The first available appointment isn't until 22 November 21.

THERE IS A SERVICE THE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM. THERE IS ONLY 13,900 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN FORUMS THAT THIS A MAJOR ISSUE THAT KEEPS HAPPENING.
