DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. WENT OVER A BRIDGE AND FRONT END STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. STOPPED AND LOOKED FOR A PROBLEM. COULD NOT SEE ANY ISSUES. THOUGHT IT MAY BE MUD COMING OUT OF WHEELS CAUSING A BALANCE PROBLEM. CONTINUED TRIP. DROVE ABOUT 130 MILES. WENT OVER SMALL BUMPS AND FRONT END STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING.HAD TO STOP ON SIDE OF ROAD. CAME HOME AND RESEARCHED PROBLEM. FOUND OTHERS HAVE SAME PROBLEM REFERRED TO AS "DEATH WOBBLE" THIS COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS IF IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR IF PULLING A TRAILER. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 53235 MILES AND IS USED MAINLY FOR ON HIGHWAY USE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE RAM 3500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT TIRES. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT AND, WHILE COASTING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE SUSPENSION BECAME DAMAGED FROM THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE COSMETIC DAMAGES WERE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.

WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ONE EVENING MY TRUCK STARTED MAKING THE MOST AWFUL GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. THEN MY ABS LIGHT AND SERV 4WD LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. A FEW SECONDS LATER THE TUCKED BOBBLED AND WEAVED AND I COULD NO LONGER STEER IT. WHEN I GOT OUT TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM THE WHEEL ITSELF WAS RESTING ON THE HUB ASSEMBLY. PREVIOUS TO THIS I'VE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT END PARTS LIKE CRAZY. NEW BALL JOINTS AND I JOINTS ANNUALLY. BRAKES TWICE A YEAR, AND IT WILL EAT UP TIRES ON THE FRONT. ALSO THE TRUCK WILL NOT STAY ALIGNED. I'VE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND FIRST THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL, BUT THEN THEY STARTED TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THEIR TIE ROD END RECALL FIXED SEVERAL TIMES AS WELL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V529000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER ALSO REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE BALL JOINT UNDER THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BALL JOINTS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR THE FIRST TIE ROD RECALL WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT...WHEN I GOT MY TRUCK BACK I KEPT HEARING A WEIRD NOISE FOR A FEW WEEKS...ENDED UP FINDING OUT THAT MY RIM WAS SO LOOSE IT ALMOST FELL OFF....I ENDED UP NEEDING BALL JOINTS AND NEW TIRES SOON AFTER...ABOUT 6000 MILES LATER STARTED FEELING FRONT END SLOPPINESS. ..TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND NEEDED TIE ROD....WANTED RECALL DONE ON BLOCK HEATER BUT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. ..GOT THAT ANSWER MULTIPLE TIMES....THIS RECALL TO ME IS AS IMPORTANT IF NOT MORE THAT THE OTHER AS IT RESULTS IN FIRE.....I'M NOT HAPPY AT ALL AND I WANT MY VEHICLE BOUGHT BACK...IT'S NOT SAFE....THEY SAY NO, I DISAGREE

THEY SAY THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. IT'S BEEN A TOTAL OF 3 MONTHS. DEALER SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME FROM THE BEGINNING THAT THEY'D PUT MY NAME ON A LIST. I AM CONCERNED THEY WILL KEEP PUTTING THIS OFF WHILE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. TIE ROD ISSUES CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MINE AND FAMILY'S SAFETY. CHANGED LANES AT APPROXIMATE 65 MPH THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE (WOBBLE) SO BAD IT WAS HARD TO KEEP CONTROL OF IT. HAD TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP TO GET IT TO STOP . FELT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE THERE ARE OTHER POST WITH THE SAME ISSUE THEY HAVE CALLED THE WOBBLE AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. IT HAS HAPPEN 4 TIMES WITH THIS TRUCK AT DIFFERENT TIMES YOU DON'T KNOW OR HAVE ANY INDICATION THAT IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. TO THIS DATE, THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO OBTAIN THE PART FROM CHRYSLER. I CALLED THE CHRYSLER RECALL CENTER AT 800.853.1403 TODAY AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT CHRYSLER IS STILL WORKING ON GETTING THE PARTS TO THE DEALERS. THERE WAS A HORRIBLE DEATH WOBBLE IN THE FRONT END. THE TRUCK HAD TO BE BROUGHT ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP IN ORDER TO REMEDY THIS EVENT. THIS IS BEYOND UNSAFE. IT IS NOT ONLY UNSAFE FOR MY FAMILY IT IS A DANGER TO OTHERS ON THE ROAD. BUYING A $50,000 + TRUCK SAFETY FOR MY FAMILY WAS NOT A CONCERN, I WAS HIGHLY MISTAKEN. MY FEAR IS NOT ONLY FOR MY FAMILY BUT FOR THE OTHER MOTORIST ON THE ROAD. WE HAD STOPPED DRIVING THE TRUCK UNLESS THERE IS A MAJOR NEED, YET WE CONTINUE TO MAKE OUR $850.00 A MONTH PAYMENTS FOR OUR YARD ORNAMENT, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT WE AGREE TO DO. AT 42,333 MILES WE HAD THE FRONT END WORKED ON HOPING TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE TEMPORARY REPAIR LASTED UNTIL WE REACHED 68,482 MILES AND ITS BACK!! AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD CHRYSLER HAS LIMITED THEM TO HOW MANY PARTS THEY COULD ORDER A DAY TO FIX THE RECALL. I WAS PUT ON A LIST WITH NO GUARANTEE OF WHEN THE RECALL COULD BE FIXED OR SCHEDULED. THE PROBLEM STATES ON THE RECALL THAT THIS PART BREAKAGE COULD CAUSE LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND/OR CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. I'M FILING A COMPLAINT IN THAT CHRYSLER IS FAILING TO REPAIR THIS RECALL IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. *TR

UPON HITTING A BUMP, HUMP, OR HOLE IN THE PAVEMENT WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING WHEEL BEGINS TO VIBRATE AND MOVE SIDE TO SIDE UNEXPECTEDLY; THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK SHAKES AND BOUNCES VIOLENTLY UNTIL SPEED REDUCES TO NEAR STOP. BRAKES AND STEERING ARE NEAR INEFFECTIVE UNTIL THE VIOLENT SHAKING STOPS. IT FEELS AS IF THE WHOLE FRONT END IS ABOUT TO BREAK LOOSE FROM THE VEHICLE, AND DRIVER CONTROL IS SEVERELY COMPROMISED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 8-10 TIMES IN TWO YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. IT IS ALWAYS UNEXPECTED WITH NO WARNING. I HAVE BECOME VERY UNEASY ABOUT ROAD TRIPS IN THIS VEHICLE. I AM ABOUT TO TAKE IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP ONE MORE TIME AS THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN TWO DAYS AGO. I HAVE ONLY 700 MILES OF WARRANTY LEFT. PAST TRIPS TO DODGE DEALERSHIPS HAVE GIVEN NO RELIEF WITH THE COMMENT ALWAYS BEING "WE COULD NOT GET THE PROBLEM TO OCCUR WHEN WE TEST DROVE THE TRUCK, AND ALL FRONT SUSPENSION TOLERANCES ARE CORRECT". *TR

AFTER ACCELERATING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY ON-RAMP, THE VEHICLE WENT OVER SOME BUMPS THEN STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AT ABOUT 45 MPH. THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING AS THE TRUCK VIBRATED AND SHOOK ACROSS LANES, BUT I WAS ABLE TO SOMEHOW AVOID COLLISIONS WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND SAFELY PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. AFTER STOPPING AND FINDING NOTHING WRONG, THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWLY ACCELERATED TO INTERSTATE SPEED AND DRIVEN ANOTHER 300 MILES TO DESTINATION WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. A FEW DAYS LATER, A TUCSON DODGE DEALER INSPECTED THE TRUCK AND FOUND TWO ISSUES. FIRST, THE FRONT STEERING DAMPER WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND ITEM, AN IMBALANCED FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL, WAS FOUND AND CORRECTED. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RECURRED, BUT I AM EXTREMELY NERVOUS ABOUT THE EVENT REPEATING ITSELF, PARTICULARLY IF IT HAPPENS WHEN PULLING A 5TH WHEEL TRAILER. I AM NOT CONFIDENT THAT THE VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE VEHICLE AND LOSS OF STEERING WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE STEERING DAMPENER AND A SLIGHTLY OUT-OF-BALANCE FRONT WHEEL. THIS PROBLEM, AN APPARENTLY SOMEWHAT WIDESPREAD OCCURRENCE AMONG DODGE TRUCKS, HAS BEEN WIDELY REPORTED AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE" THROUGHOUT THE PAST 8 YEARS OR SO. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT IT HAD BEEN FIXED RECENTLY THROUGH SUSPENSION CHANGES BY CHRYSLER ENGINEERS, BUT OBVIOUSLY NOT. *TR

ON 10-17-11, I TOOK TRUCK TO 5-STAR DODGE @3068 RIVERSIDE DR-MACON, GA 31210. IT HAD 4 RECALLS - K-17,K-33,K-34 AND L-16. THE L-16 BEING LEFT TIE ROD END. I PICK TRUCK UP 10-18-11(TUES). SAT - 10-22-11 I CALLED SERVICE DEPT AND TELL THEM MY STEERING WHEEL IS NOT ALIGNED AND TRUCK IS PULLING TO RIGHT. THEY TELL ME TO BRING IN 10-24-11 AND THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF IT. THE STEERING WHEEL CENTERED AND TRUCK ALIGNMENT DONE. ON 11-5-11, CALLED SERVICE CENTER TO REPORT THAT MY NEW TIRES ON FRONT WERE SHOWING WIRE STICKING OUT AND IT WAS VIBRATING IN FRONT. AGAIN IT WAS SAT AND NO ONE WAS THERE TO LOOK AT IT, SO I TOOK IT BACK ON 11-7-11, THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE TO FRONT TIRES AND SAID THEY WERE SENDING IT TO THE WARNER ROBINS DEALERSHIP FOR THE ALIGNMENT, THEY COULD NOT DO IT, SO THEY SENT IT TO RAFFEILD TIRE IN WARNER ROBINS. UPON PICKING TRUCK UP THEY TELL ME IT IS STILL NOT ALIGNED. SO I RECOMMENDED A TIRE BUSINESS IN BOLINGBROKE THAT WORKS ON BIG TRUCKS AND I KNEW THEY COULD ALIGN IT, THEY DO ALL OUR WORK TRUCKS AND WE HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. NOW 3-30-12, I PICK UP A LOAD OF HAY FOR HORSES(2400LBS PLUS TRAILER) AND COME HOME, I LEAVE TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL AND I LOOSE CONTROL OF TRUCK IN ALLEY AT CEMETERY BEHIND OUR HOUSE, THE LEFT TIE ROD END IS BROKEN. THE TRUCK CANNOT BE TOWED, IT HAS TO BE REPAIRED ON SIGHT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPORT THIS AND THEY DO NOT SEEM CONCERNED AND NEVER CALLED ME BACK TO CHECK STATUS OF TRUCK. I HAD WATTS SERVICE CENTER COME AND LOOK AT TRUCK AND REPLACE THE LEFT TIE ROD END. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE RECALL WAS NEVER DONE (L-16) ON MY TRUCK, I HAVE THE PART THAT WAS TAKEN OFF AND IT LOOKS TO BE THE ORIGINAL LEFT TIE ROD END THAT CAME ON TRUCK WHEN PURCHASED . I HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS EVER SINCE I TOOK THE TRUCK IN AND ITS ONLY BEEN 5 1/2 MONTHS SINCE THE RECALL. DID THEY GET PAID FOR SOMETHING THEY DIDN'T DO? *TR
