The contact owns a 2011 Ram 3500. The contact stated that the OEM trailer brake controller indicated that the trailer brake was disconnected even though it was attached correctly. The failure occurred while different trailers were hitched to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The contact replaced the OEM brakes with new OEM brakes; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed and determined that there was not enough amp signal to recognize that the trailer was connected. The mechanic attached a magnetic pigtail line with magnets attached to both ends, and the vehicle recognized that the trailer was connected. The cause of failure was found; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 145,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Ram 3500. The contact stated that during cold weather, the engine would not heat up properly and hesitated to start. In addition, the contact stated that on several occasions, the heater grid connector on the driver's side melted bolts and wiring that intruded into the engine, causing piston #6 to misfire. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V060000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted; however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

Don’t know, the fireman,said the engine caught on fire, some how look like from on top pointed to the top. I believe I believe it was exhaust? Fire department would write out report and send it to me. Devastated 68+ miles truck was paid off melted the whole front and top of the engine everything down! I want to know what happened?! 2011, dodge ram 1 ton 6.7diesel Cummings ! also melted my boat 2010 nitro Z7 with a 150 mercury bass boat $28,000 boat worth more than that now whet up in value! It had 15 hours only on engine! It’s not completely lost I pray…
I had a recall on the fuel heater plug and took care of the problem a few years back. I noticed today that the plug is leaking fuel and was wondering if the problem was ever fixed or if they used the same recalled parts? Do you ever recall an already recalled part? or do they ever pay for the part if I fix it myself?
THIS IS THE SECOND RAM 3500 I HAVE PURCHASED IN A YEAR AND BOTH HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE BLENDING DOORS FOR THE HEATING AND AIR CONDITION UNIT. WITH THAT BEING SAID THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEFROST WILL NOT WORK WHEN THE BLENDING DOOR ARE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. THIS CAUSE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD NOT TO BE ABLE TO DEFROST WHEN IT IS STARTED OR WHEN IT FOGS UP WHEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD WHICH PUT MY FAMILY AND OTHER FAMILY AT RISK BECAUSE I CAN NOT SEE PROPERLY OUT THE WINDSHIELD TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON AND MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A LARGE VEHICLE AND WOULD BE DEVASTATING IF I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. DODGE HAS RECALLED THIS ISSUE ON OTHER MODELS UNDER K17, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE YEAR THAT I OWN. *TR

WHEN GOING ON ROUGH ROADS VEHICLE SHUTS OFF. HAVE TO MANIPULATE IGNITION TO GET TO START AGAIN. MY FAMILY HAS 3 OF THESE TRUCKS AND ALL ARE HAVING THESE SAME ISSUES. JUST HAD IGNITION MODULE REPLACED ON A 2012 RAM WITH 100000 MILES BECAUSE IT SHUT OFF WHEN GOING DOWN ROAD AND FRIGHTENED DRIVER. WHEN TRUCK DIES YOU HAVE NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. SEARCH ON INTERNET SHOWS THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM TO MANY WITH TRUCKS OF THIS YEAR.

ODOMETER KEEPS ADDING MILES OR NOT RECORDING MILES CORRECTLY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 3500. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH THROUGH A PARKING LOT, A BURNING ODOR WAS DETECTED. THE CONTACT STOPPED AND PARKED THE VEHICLE AND, UPON EXITING, OBSERVED SMOKE RISING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO NOTIFY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. UPON ARRIVAL, THE VEHICLE WAS HOSED DOWN WITH WATER. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF AN ACTUAL FIRE PRESENT BECAUSE SHE COULD NOT SEE THE VEHICLE. A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LARRY H. MILLER DODGE PEORIA (8665 W BELL RD, PEORIA, AZ 85382 (480) 865-3986) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A MALFUNCTIONING ALTERNATOR THAT NEED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.

WE WERE NEVER CONTACTED ABOUT THE RECALLS OR THE CONSENT ORDER-----WE ACCIDENTALLY FOUND OUT! WE HAVE HAD SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT TWICE, ONCE WHILE REFUELING AND ONCE WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION. WE HAVE NOTICED A BAD AND DANGEROUS VIBRATION FROM THE STEERING! EVEN THOUGH WE CONTACTED FCA REGARDING THESE PROBLEMS, AND MY REQUEST FOR A COPY OF THE BUYBACK LETTER, I HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING EXCEPT COPIES OF THE THREE (3) RECALLS, WITH N49 BEING NOTED AS THE MOST DANGEROUS! FCA PUT ME IN TOUCH WITH THE FCA RESOLUTION CENTER, WHICH IS A 3RD PARTY VENDOR FOR FCA, AND THEY ARE GIVING ME THE "RUN A ROUND"! TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE THERE HAVE GIVEN ME TWO DIFFERENT SETS OF "THINGS" THEY WILL NEED IN ORDER TO MAKE AN OFFER ON OUR AFFECTED TRUCK. I PURCHASED TRUCK AROUND MARCH 1, 2014 WITH 48415 MILES, ON MARCH 14,2014 WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE WITH A 4 HORSE TRAILER IN TOW WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING, VEHICLE SHUTTERED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE STARTED TO PULL OVER THEN WE REGAINED POWER. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT WE PURCHASED IT FROM WHEN WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION, THEY TOLD US TO POWER OFF FOR 15 MINUTES AND RESTART WITH THE REMOTE STARTER, THIS TOOK THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OFF. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURED ON MAY 1, 2015, INTERSTATE WITH HORSE TRAILER IN TOW AGAIN. THIS TIME WE NOTICED THE FUEL DROPPED AND THE FUEL MILAGE INDICATOR STARTED FLICKERING, WE LET OFF THE FUEL PEDDLE AND REPRESSED REGAINING POWER, ABOUT 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE SHUTTER WAS HARDER, WE HAD TO TAP THE FUEL PEDDLE 2 TIME TO REGAIN POWER. WE NOTICE THE MILETOEMPTY WENT FROM 90 TO 60 WHEN IT HAPPENED. BOTH OCCASIONS WE HAD BEEN TRAVELING FOR ABOUT 100 MILES WITH ABOUT 30 OR 40 MILES BEING ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 70-75 MILE PER HOUR, WHEN THE PROBLEM ACCURED. BOTH TIMES WE COMPLETED OUR ROUND TRIP OF 600 MILES WITH WORRY!!!

DRIVING AT NIGHT GOING ABOUT 60 MPH WHEN ALL SYSTEMS FAILED, NO ENGINE, NO POWER BRAKES, NO POWER STEERING AND WORST OF ALL, NO LIGHTS. ENGINE WOULDN'T CRANK, FUSE BOX WAS MAKING SNAPPING SOUNDS EVEN WITH KEY OUT OF IGNITION. AFTER ABOUT 5 MIN TRUCK STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME, ABOUT 5 MILES. TRUCK RAN, BUT POORLY. THE NEXT DAY I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT TO THE DODGE DEALER, TRUCK DID SAME THING (COMPLETE SYSTEM FAILURE) AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 5 MILES. I THEN HAD TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER. NATURALLY TRUCK RUNS FINE FOR SERVICE TECH, THEY RESET A BUNCH OF CODES, BUT COULD FIND NOTHING DEFINITIVE. UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO DO MORE. THIS FILLS ME WITH ABSOLUTELY NO CONFIDENCE. IN 4 DAYS I NEED TO TAKE THIS TRUCK PULLING A TRAILER FROM WA TO AZ FOR WORK. *TR
