***1*** The emissions system on this truck (2022 Ram 3500 with 34,435 miles) has been problematic since I acquired it 5 months ago. It continually attempts to regenerate and rid itself of ash/soot buildup. If it does not successfully regenerate, it will go into a state of reduced power, also known as limp mode. The truck is available for inspection and will be at Lithia CDJR in Corpus Christi tomorrow, 07 Jan 2026. ***2*** Today specifically, the truck flashed a message EXHAUST FILTER NEARING FULL SAFELY DRIVE AT CONSISTENT SPEED TO CLEAR. I got on the highway to achieve this and avoid lights and stop/go traffic. It typically takes around 25 minutes of consistent driving for it to clear. But today, shortly after I reached highway speeds, the truck entered limp mode, displaying EXHAUST FILTER FULL REDUCED POWER SEE DEALER. This was a very alarming incident that created a bottleneck on the highway and presumably for me to nearly be rear ended as it happened at 5:35pm. I was able to safely make it off of the highway, however this incident has put the lives of all motorists on the road around me today in danger. ***3*** The truck has been inspected numerous times by the dealership. The Diesel Particulate Filter was replaced on 01 October 2025 (this was the first time the truck went into limp mode on me). The frequent regenerations continued after the DPF replacement and a sensor was replaced on 29 October 2025. Regens continue at approximately 1 per week. ***4*** This is a known issue amongst the community of RAM truck owners. It's unfortunate that many do not report it because the safety issue could easily set off a chain reaction, especially if this heavy duty truck were to be towing a heavy load as it capable of doing.
My pm sensors or particulate matter system malfunction and failed which lead to emissions issues and created my vehicle to drive in limp mode. Limp mode basically slowed downs the vehicle is slow as 5 mph as soon as this light displays at any time while driving on the highway. This put my safety in danger and the public as I transport what dot considers a type hazardous material. The sudden loss of power in the middle of the road has made vehicles around me extremely vulnerable to fatal collisions. I took my vehicle to the dealership where they confirmed this malfunction and problem with my vehicle but no recall has been issued as of yet no warning lamps appeared prior to the failure.
While driving on interstate leaving a construction zone started to accelerate to maybe 40mph and heard/felt a hard clang and lost all forward motion costed to side of interstate. Looked underneath truck, nothing visible broken or leaking. Restarted truck tried to move forward with no luck. Reverse worked, put back in drive loud noise again stomped on the accelerator and started moving forward very slow and difficult. Made it to an exit to look at things in a safer location than the busy interstate. Figured out that I had reverse and 5th gear so it was very hard/ slow to get moving. Check engine light on, gear ration incorrect, code P0731, Tran sensor failure, no 4x4 Transmission failure 1-4 gears not working
The transmission in my vehicle failed suddenly on May 31, 2025, entering “limp mode” and losing the ability to shift properly. The vehicle became immobile and was towed to the dealership. Initial diagnostics revealed difficulty shifting between 3rd and 4th gears. Service technicians attempted repair in June based on RAM TSB MC-10231775, which indicated snap ring failure in the Aisin transmission. Repairs prescribed in TSB were attempted but unsuccessful, as the vehicle still could not shift into 4th gear. Additional parts were ordered, and another repair was unsuccessfully attempted in late June. Ram has shipped a new transmission which we are waiting on the dealership to install.
Transmission failure while driving not allowing to go in park after we got stopped. Truck un operable to get out of traffic.
Transmission failed in heavy interstate traffic while towing 35 ft 15,000 lbs RV. My RAM 3500 only has 19,000 miles and is still under new vehicle warranty. The event: While travelling on Washington DC beltway in lane 3 of 4 without warning my transmission starting slipping. No abnormal noise, no dash lamps warning of an issue. As I pressed on accelerator my speed continued to decrease. I quickly signaled to right lane in an attempt to get off the road. I was slowing at a rate I was concerned I may be stopped on highway with vehicles traveling 55 mph approaching. I did make the shoulder in between an exit and entrance ramp with barely enough room for a tow truck to be in front. I had 3 ft on my left with 55mph traffic passing constantly. The vehicle was towed to a local RAM dealer as my wife and I waited on the highway with RV for second tow service. This all could have been avoided. Why was a TSB or recall already in place? RAM has many transmission failures on the 2022 Aisin transmission noted on RAM truck forums. I had read about it but considered myself lucky as I was almost 2 years driving truck without any problems. My safety, my wife and tow truck drivers safety were put at considerable risk due to Stellantis not alerting RAM dealers of a potential transmission failure. Research Noah Leotta Police Officer Montgomery County Maryland. The circumstances we experienced were exactly how he lost his life. I have not received work ticket from dealership, I will follow up with documentation when requested.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V835000 (Power Train) and 23V060000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
While driving around 20 mph, suddenly heard a clunk, then several dashboard warning lights came on. Truck suddenly had no torque- would only move forward if the engine was revved at much more than normal amount. Nearly complete loss of ability to accelerate from a stop/low speeds. Took to an independent service center who ran the ODB codes, showing the now well-known issue of "transmission failure gears 1-4" Warning lamps include the lane sense and check engine lights, and a message on the dash that reads ACC not available, Automatic high beams not available. Prior to this, no problems with the truck at all. I am trying to arrange getting it towed to a dealership.
22 Ram 3500 Cummins diesel with Aisin transmission. Transmission output shaft seal leaking in between transmission and transfer case.
The engine stopped while driving with no warning and provided no opportunity to exit the travel lane of the road. No warning lights were illuminated on the dashboard and all gauges appeared normal leading up to the event. This event is extremely frustrating, but I am thankful that it didn't happen on the interstate as there is no telling what the outcome may have been......... Leading up to the event, I had been driving on the interstate around 70mph for about 180 miles since the last restart. I exited the interstate and made it about 3/4 miles on a secondary road and the engine died without warning and the truck came to a quick stop in the lane of travel. No abnormal sounds were observed, just a sudden unwelcome deacceleration that did not provide enough time to exit the lane of travel. It was like stepping on the brakes. I attempted to restart the truck and the starter would not crank the engine and briefly pulled enough voltage to kill all the electronics. I attempted starting it again with a jump box attached and met the same result. The computers freaking out from the low voltage during the starting attempts wouldn't allow me to put the truck in neutral to move it out of the lane of travel. A police officer called for the tow truck on rotation since I was stuck in a live travel lane. The truck was towed to the Dealer on 8/19/2024 after the service department had closed and still would not turn over when removed from the tow truck. There were no signs of any fluids leaking from the truck after the event........ The next day the Service Advisor called and advised there were only 3 codes stored related to low voltage. Truck is waiting for a tech to become available to further investigate.
My truck experienced a total transmission failure while at Highway Speed towing a 5th wheel camper on Interstate I95. This transmission failure is a known issue and has a TSB 21-002-23. A k1 clutch clip becomes dislodged and the transmission will not function. Being stranded and unable to move on a busy highway is unsafe and terrifying. Aisin Transmission and RAM are well aware of this failure however I was never notified about the potential failure nor has a recall been issued. The failure occurred instantly with no warning in a vehicle with 16,000 miles and less than 2 years old. My vehicle has been repaired and the failure was confirmed as the K1 clutch clip failure. There should be an immediate recall for this known failure to be repaired prior to being stranded on the side of the highway, 400 miles from home with my wife and kids. It's shameful RAM has ignored this problem!
The transmission wont shift gears. We were stranded at a campsite. The problem has been confirmed by Santa Rosa Ram. Inspection by RAM directly is unknown. Loud clanking noises were heard many days before the final failure.
While towing a camper 5 hours from home. Traveling approx 5-10 MPH in slow moving traffic the 2022 Ram 3500 HO with Aisin Transmission made a loud and sudden pop. It lost all forward power as if it went into neutral. Barely using momentum to limp the truck off the side of a busy highway during rush hour with my family on board.
Transmission had 2 loud clunk, while stopped, and shifting into drive, lost all forward gears. Reverse works. Truck has 17000 miles.
On June 5th, 2024 while pulling a travel trailer on vacation, we stopped for a short break and left the truck running. When we went to get back on the highway, I put the truck in gear and nothing happened. Truck would only shift into reverse with a violent bang. Would not go forward. Unhooked my trailer and shifted into REVERSE a few times and finally got the truck to inch forward at HIGH RPM. Towed to a Ram dealer and they confirmed a snap ring failure caused the forward clutches to go out. Truck is still awaiting repairs 445 miles from home.
I was driving coming to a stop for a red light and it turns green. As I go to press on the gas my dashboard lights up with error codes stating a 4WD System error of some kind. As I go to press on the gas the truck loses power and acceleration and starts making a horrible clunking noise. I took it to the dealer because it seems like a transmission issue. This is a 2022 Ram 3500 with 9300 miles at time of failure. I would hate to see what happens if I was towing a large load to lose power all of a sudden risking my life and others around me. Based on what I have researched it seems like a K1 Snap Ring issue to the T. Waiting on the "official" diagnosis from the dealer.
When pulling onto the interstate on ramp (45 mph) the truck attempted to shift up when all transmission power failed. The engine ran fine, just no power. I was able to safely pull to the shoulder and park . s Shifting from drive to neutral to park and back to drive still did not resolve the issue. I put the truck in park and shut off the engine . The transmission fluid temp, color and level was ok. I restarted the truck and shifted to reverse with no problem then to neutral and drive. It felt that the transmission engaged and I slowly crept forward. I slowly accelerated and was able to resume speed. No subsequent loss of power has been encountered, BUT the truck now has slippage from 1st to 2nd gear and occasionally 3rd. Had I been on the interstate this has a potential for serious accident incident. This is the first time this has happened. I had bought the truck used and certified from the dealer in Pennsylvania. There is currently 28k miles on the truck. There were and still no warning or codes to indicate a problem This occurred [XXX] 2024. No dealer, tech or shop has looked at this issue. My truck experienced the K1 snap ring failure at 3,600 miles.
My truck experienced the K1 snap ring failure at 3,600 miles.
This vehicle left me stranded due to Aisen transmission failure with only 2000 miles on the vehicle. Has been at dealer for 3 months awaiting rebuild due to faulty clip. Why is nothing being done? Why am I not getting a new transmission? or better yet forced buy back

Transmission went out. Lost 1-4th gear. It was the K1 snap ring in the transmission. Lost power going up a mountain in a National Park exhaust brake either to slow vehicle. Check engine light came on
The dealer and manufacture have not been able to fix emissions issue. It has cause severe fuel saturation in oil and has cause severe motor damage. No one cares and they brush it off as no big deal.
K1 Clutch Snap Ring failure in the AS69RC Aisin transmission. I loss all forward motion on [XXX] in Iowa City. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
K1 Clutch Snap Ring failure in the AS69RC Aisin transmission. I loss all forward motion on [XXX] in Iowa City. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My trucks transmission experienced a complete failure, it is currently at the dealership awaiting parts and repair The failure renders the truck without any forward power almost immediately with only reverse left functioning, we were fortunate that it broke down in a residential neighborhood and not the freeway. The truck was towed to the local dealership, they tore down the transmission and confirmed a K1 snap ring failure and that it would be covered under wtty. I got a malfunction indicator light a few days prior then a message on the dash "4 wheel drive system temporarily unavailable" about 10 miles before complete failure. CSN 71A appears to have been issued and sent to some truck owners to advise snap ring replacement as a preventative measure, however my truck was not included in the CSN campaign, not sure why
Concerned that my truck may be affected by the Aisin K1 snap ring failure problem currently being investigated by NHTSA. I have no way of knowing whether or not my transmission is reliable long term, nor can I prove to a future buyer that it is safe and reliable. Not only does this issue affect my trust in using the truck, but it also has a significant negative impact on the resale value of the truck. Buyers are aware that 2022 Aisin trucks have issues and this makes the vehicle harder to sell.
I am very concerned that my trucks Aisin transmission may fail while towing heavy loads at highway speeds as this seems to be an issue with my model year and month it was built.
1, The Aisin AS68RC transmission failed. The dealership had to ship the defective complete back to Aisin . 2. On [XXX] with only 2,886K miles while on Interstate [XXX] in Boston Massachusetts . I just entered the highway and was getting into the middle lane getting up to high way speed. The Tachometer shot up in rpm’s and there was no more forward gear. I was doing about 50-60mph. I had to cost from the middle lane to the brake down lane with my 20’ trailer in tow in heavy traffic. Once in the brake down lane I was able to go in reverse but couldn’t go forward. Loud clunking when put into gear and trying to move forward. 3. The vehicle was towed to the dealership from [XXX] that night to Herb Chambers Millbury Ram and confirmed transmission failure. 4. Aisin sent a complete transmission assembly to the dealership for installation. So the dealership inspected it. 4. There were NO warning lights before transmission failure. I did notice the truck felt Rough over 40 mph before transmission failure since I picked it up brand new from the dealer. Absolutely NO warning light/ indicator prior to Transmission failure!!!! Driving south on [XXX] just south of Greenville, SC. With no warning the truck wouldn't go, upon quickly diagnosing I determined I had no transmission. Luckily was able to make it to the emergency lane and come to a safe stop. Also was pulling a fifth wheel camper at the time. Sudden loss of forward gears. Failure happened on highway at highway speeds. Had to carefully maneuver the truck off the road. Failure in both towing and unloaded operation. Truck will not shift in or out of drive (1-4) but reverse is still functional. Diagnostic trouble code P0731-00 and P0734 "Gear 1 and 4 Shift Incorrect Ratio". Both the dealer and RAM confirm this transmission failure. RAM has realeased a TSB which covers this failure but hasn’t released a recall.
February 19,2024. Towing a bumper pull toy hauler approximately 10,000 pounds, just merged onto a two lane highway when the check engine light came on and truck jerked a couple times, I pulled to side of highway where there is not much of a shoulder. I placed it in park, sat a few seconds then into drive when I noticed no forward motion in drive. I turned truck off a few minutes, restarted, check engine light still on, no movement in drive mode. I did have reverse functioning. This was very dangerous situation, high speed two lane highway, small shoulder, many large RVs and 18 wheeler trucks flying by. 5 weeks truck is at dealer, they say it’s done, they attempt to bring it to me at the shop, then tell me check engine light on, throwing multiple codes. They still have truck, tell me they will find out issue asap.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH and towing an RV, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted, after which the contact became aware that the vehicle was only able to shift into reverse. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 17,000.

On [XXX] I was driving my newly purchased 2022 Ram 3500 on [XXX] near Mead, CO when my check engine light illuminated and I immediately lost forward driving gears. I was able to coast safely to the side of the highway. I purchased this truck new on [XXX] from Perkins Motors in Colorado Springs. After stopping on the side of [XXX], I attempted to continue forward but had no power. I placed the truck in reverse and felt a sudden jerk. I then placed the truck in park and shut it off. The truck had 1,043 miles on the odometer when the transmission failed. I waited on the side of the highway for 15 hours to be towed 110 miles to the Ram dealership closest to my home. My truck spent 5 weeks at the dealership waiting on parts. Colorado Springs Ram service department informed me that the snap ring in the K1 clutch kit had failed. My vehicle was affected by the Customer Satisfaction Notice 71A: Aisin K1 Snap Ring Failure. I saw an article that an investigation was being opened into this issue. I can provide data from my experience if it is helpful.
Truck lost all forward gears while driving down the highway, only had 6418 miles on it
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission suddenly downshifted, causing the vehicle to decelerate abruptly. Additionally, while driving the vehicle, the engine temperature gauge increased to high, with a burning plastic odor and smoke fumes entering the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the PCM was reprogrammed, and the temperature sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,000.

I was traveling in my new 3 month old 3500 Ram with, at the time of failure, 3000 miles on the odometer. Starting from a standstill on level ground. I lost all forward momentum. I lost forward gears 1-4 due to what is now known as the K1 clutch snap ring failure. I was traveling cross country and had to leave my truck at a dealership over 1000 miles from home. ruined vacation and had to catch a flight back home . It took 6 months to get my truck back.
Driving vehicle and lost power went into limp mode had no gears forward Truck would not go over 1500 rpm Check engine light came on Kept saying 4 wheel drive not available but was in 2 wheel drive Hear clunk when shifting but no gears respond! Occurred when driving definitely a safety issue
-What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? A: Transmission -How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A: I was never contacted by RAM regarding the possibility of a catastrophic power loss c/o transmission failure for my RAM truck. While driving E/B on Interstate 15 in the # 2 lane at highway speeds and going up a grade, the vehicle suffered complete forward momentum loss and only engine revving was occurring, while losing forward momentum & speed. I had to negotiate several, extremely busy/heavy traffic tractor-trailer filled traffic lanes to make it to the emergency shoulder of the roadway before losing all forward momentum and miraculously did not have a collision with high-speed heavy traffic. -Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? A: I took my RAM to a nearby dealership. Based upon my description of the event and their subsequent vehicle inspection it was revealed and confirmed that somehow my RAM was erroneously, or purposely circumvented from the current transmission failure recall. The dealership discovered the issue with my transmission failure was identical to an in-progress NHTSA bulletin: 71A with TSB 21-00-2-23 (Attached PDF) and subsequently performed the repair free of charge. -Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? A: No, it was inspected and serviced by only by an authorized dealership and none of the above. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? A: Yes, the lights activated instantly/simultaneously as the failure was in-progress, in heavy traffic on the interstate.
My Ram 2022 3500 truck has18,888 miles and the transmission has to be replaced. I had it in for a recall and asked them to check the transmission for shifting issues. I was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. I pull a 38 foot Fifth Wheel approximately 15 thousand pounds. If the transmission would have failed on the road it could be catastrophic. Dodge is replacing the transmission with the same one with no fix for the problem that inherently causes the failure which has been many. The repair order# is 459891. The part # is R8447797AA. I was given a case # by Ram Care 87401824. I feel stuck spending 100K for a new truck and don’t feel safe putting back on the road risking the safety of my family and others. I have previously had a Commercial Drivers License and have driven trucks for over 40 years. Transmission failure at high speed can be catastrophic.
Received a recall from FCA regarding exhaust module and sensor not installed. They offered a 12 month warranty. But damage to diesel exhaust filter has already happened. Owners should be given a lifetime warranty. This was an expensive truck and a replacement filter is $8,000 which I will be on hook for after my warranty is over. Recall Y43
Transmission failed. 8,500 miles on the truck
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the gear shifter was in drive (D); however, the vehicle operated as if the transmission was in neutral (N). The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road after persistently depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the transmission was stuck in fifth gear. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 1,945.

I am a commercial driver for Hibbs Haulers and was driving the 2022 Ram 3500 DRW 4X4 company truck. Production month was September 2022. After driving at a slow speed in heavy traffic the truck felt like it fell out of drive and into neutral. I was able to move slowly but transmission temp started to climb into 220 plus degrees and a temperature warning came on for the transmission so I pulled onto the shoulder. I was able to use reverse but I did not have gears 1 through 4. A MIL code P0731 came on during this incident.
My transmission failed while driving in the mountains. I have reverse . And 5th gear. The check engine light came on and a message on the dash stated that the 4 wheel drive was temporarily not available. It has since been taken to the dealer . As it has failed .and is nolonger drivable
Total transmission failure resulting in sudden loss of forward gears. Cruise control and all other drivers assist aides disabled and loss of any forward acceleration while driving highway speeds. Unable to drive forward at all. Known manufacturer issue. No prior warning or indicator lights until total failure. Problem confirmed by dealer. Family endangered when truck traveling on multi lane highway at a speed limit of 70mph suddenly turned off cruise control and slowed to a halt with no ability to accelerate or move forward.
I have had two catastrophic failures of the Clutch Snap Ring that the first time left me and my children stranded on a highway 800 miles from home and took 31 days to repair. The second failure was while driving and almost caused me to be hit because of the sudden loss of power. This is a known failure that is reported in Service Bulletin (21-002-23) filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The original dealer reported he had seen 3 cases of these failures and the second dealer has told me he has 4 trucks waiting for this repair. It is a major safety issue that is known but not being resolved.
Truck lost power and went into "limp" mode on Interstate 65 near Nashville on 7-28. warning came on stating 4wheel drive is unavailable even though it was not being used. It also stated the number 1 gear was miss aligned. this took place at 12:30 PM on a busy highway, a tow truck toed my pickup but had to leave my 2020 Montana camper on the side of the highway. The truck was taken to a dealer nearby that waited two weeks to look at it and identified the transmission had gone out, parts were 45 days backordered. two weeks later they called parts had come in, but they would not get to it for another week, 8-25-2021 The dealer calls after I posted complaints on their social medial sites and notified me, they could not locate the transmission fluid at this time it is backordered to 2024. I am still waiting for results in the meantime have spent 5000.00+ on rental and towing to get my camper to my worksite in Iowa. warning message did not appear until the vehicle lost power. no warning to move to the side of the road.
Driving on the freeway towing an empty trailer, when without any incident the check engine light came on. As I was exiting the freeway, I had what felt like no forward drive. I was able to coast off the exit and pull over. I found that I had reverse but forward was very weak. I was able to pull the truck and trailer a couple hundred feet ahead to safety in a large parking lot, then called the tow truck. I was able to have a friend meet me and take the trailer.
transmisson failure while towing 10k. forward drive went out reverse was fine forward drive would not engage. 2022 ram 3500 aisin trans mileage 11278
Transmission lost forward gears on highway and came to a stop in highway. Had reverse and was able to back down highway to get off road. Warnings popped up as soon as it happened but not before. Dealer confirmed they have a problem with this year model with transmission. Only had 1690 miles
The transmission failed while pulling my 5th wheel RV trailer. It is currently at a Ram dealership waiting to be repaired. It failed going up a hill on a two lane road without a shoulder forcing me to stop in my lane 3/4 the way up a country road. I was forced to put my parking brake on and emergency flashers until the sheriff’s car arrived 10 minutes later. This put my families safety and others as the traffic went around me and others cresting the blind hill in front of me. The dealer has confirmed that it is a failed transmission and it is an ongoing issue for these trucks. I’m assuming that the manufacturer has inspected these ongoing issues with this transmission. A warning light did come on at the moment the transmission failed. Other then that no warning.
On 7/22/23 we were driving out to a trail head in the Grand Staircase-Escalante on a dirt/gravel road over a washboard at the time of failure. We were about 2-3 miles in on a 14 mile journey. It was 111 degrees and we were possibly going to have no cell service soon. Suddenly the 4WD system Temporary unavailable appears on the screen. Then I was able to push the 2wd button and it made a very load clunking sound. I was able to turn the truck around and barely got the truck up to 45 mph back to where we were staying. When we came to a stop the truck would rev and barley move. The check engine light came on with P0732-00 and P0731-00. It had failure to the transmission to the K1 Clutch Snap Ring (Ram has known about this and issued a service bulletin on 1/11/23 to all their dealers) I feel our safety was put at risk due to the temperature, possible no cell phone service and Ram has known about the problem but hasn't warned their customers. The truck was finally towed on 7/24/23 around 3 pm from Page, AZ to Flagstaff, AZ to Planet Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. They confirmed on 7/27/23 that the K1 Clutch Snap Ring had failed in the transmission. The truck was inspected by Ram. Ram roadside, Ram customer service, Planet Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, AAA and Geico were all notified. No warning lamps or messages appeared until failure. Ram has known about this problem with the 2022 - 2023 Ram 3500 4500 5500 with the Aisin transmission. I purchased this truck so we wouldn't have problems on our vacation. We were left stranded in Page, AZ with our 5th wheel trailer. No help from Ram to get my family and our trailer back to Reno, NV. The dealership and Ram never even responded to any of my calls until Wednesday 7/26/23. We had to rent a truck in Salt Lake City, UT after driving 800 miles round trip. We need to still get our truck back and the rental from Enterprise Truck, they will not allow us to have a one-way rental. As of now we have no update of when the truck will be ready

The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Vehicle shut down in the middle of a busy road would not go forward reverse dead in the water.. had to truck shut truck plumb down. Then finally got the truck to move. Took it into the dealership told me to transmission was completely gone had just over 2,000 miles on it. If I would have been pulling a heavy load this could have been a very deadly situation.
Aisin transmission failed at 9800 miles. Faulty K1 snap ring failed and disabled gears 1-4. This resulted in truck freewheeling down hill on forest service road. No indication or warning of any problem prior to truck producing loud bang and losing forward control. This has been a known defect since late 2022 and Stellanis has not reached out to current owners with any warning or resolutions. Truck /transmission is at Ram dealer with verified K1ring failure. Awaiting parts
The transmission failed. I was towing our bumper pull trailer on a narrow country, curvy road on the way to a National Park Campground and the truck failed. We are very lucky this didn't result in an accident. There was a loud clunk from underneath the truck, then a myriad of warning lights and the truck would not go forward. The truck had just slightly over 12,000 miles. The dealership has determined the transmission did fail and has ordered a transmission clutch kit. There were no warning signs prior this incident
The transmission failed AT SPEED, with only 2,000 miles on the vehicle since purchased NEW, while TOWING >10,000 lbs 40 ft travel trailer. These trucks are built to tow, you don’t own 1-ton trucks without the intent to tow a good bit of weight. As per the research gathered by owner community of Ram HD owners, this issue is widespread on 2022-2023 Ram HD trucks with High Output motor paired with Aisin transmission. Problem is known by Ram, no warning to owners, hundreds of transmissions on failing during use. Vehicle is available for inspection if needed. Complete transmission failure in traffic while towing GCVW ~18,000 posed high risk of accident between our vehicle and surrounding traffic. Fortunately we were in right hand lane and able to move to shoulder fairly quickly. Problem reproduced hundreds of times in the field, and widely known (reference https://www.tsbsearch.com/RAM/21-002-23). This however does not warn of the extreme nature of these failures that are in almost every case when under use.. transmission are blowing up under heavy tows. No warning lamps prior to failure, vehicle becomes completely inoperable once it fails. No data available to “know if affected” beyond manufacturing date. Entire Ram 3500 “High Output” community on high alert to their “next failure”
Put vehicle in 4wd, to cross very loose gravel section of road, returned it to 2wd, drove approximately 10 additional miles, screen display "4wd system temporarily unavailable". Placed vehicle in park and screen display "vehicle not in park" shifted back into drive, loud clunk noise , drove two more miles, check engine light came on, pulled over, placed in park, screen display said "vehicle not in park". Placed vehicle in drive, vehicle no longer engaged in drive, only reverse.

Transmission failure, would not go into gear, heard loud banging under the truck
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while hauling a 14,000 lbs. load at approximately 70 MPH, there was a loud explosion underneath the vehicle. The vehicle suddenly came to a halt as if the transmission had failed. The vehicle was hesitating while shifting gear, especially while switching lanes. The contact was able to coast to the side of the roadway and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer informed the contact that the K1 clutch pack had failed. The contact related the failure to NHTSA ID Number: 21-002-23 (Power Train, Exterior Lighting) however, the dealer had not checked the K2 portion of the repair which implied that the vehicle may not have had a complete repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,667.

While driving my new Ram truck towing our camper on I 95 around the DC area, I heard and felt a pop noise and our transmission failed. My truck only has 3000 miles on it. I’m discovering that Ram is aware of this issue and won’t make it a recall.

Without warning the transmission failed. Along with loss of power, when the tranny failed, the ability to use the exhaust brake also fails. The ability to manually downshift fails. I was on steep winding roads in North Idaho (Elk River) when this occurred with three passengers aboard. Once I was able to stop, I was on a steep uphill grade with no forward gears or shoulder to pull over on. I had to coast in neutral back down the mountain to an appropriate site to get off the road. All of this with no forward or reverse gears. The vehicle was towed to a dealership where it was determined to have the K-1 snap ring failure in the Aisin transmission. This problem is common enough that parts to repair the transmission are on back order with no definitive eta available.
This is a new vehicle with 747 miles on the odometer. A critical transmission failure occured while towing in traffic. We lost all ability to move forward. A Ram dealer has the truck now and is reporting it is the Aisin transmission that failed. An internal snap ring is the issue. They also told us this problem is happening to hundreds of customers across the country
On our 1st day of our 10 day vacation heading East on Hwy 26 to Crescent, OR. At Government Camp going up in elevation, our 2022 Dodge Ram Diesal 3500 4x4, stopped going. We were pulling a 32' 5th wheel at about 14,000 #. We pulled off the road and put it into park, let it sit then tried to put it into drive again and it would not go. The transmission rattled and made all kinds of noise. THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS ON THE DASH OF ANY ISSUES! We put it into park and called 911 to assist in a tow truck. We had to wait for about 1 1/2 hours for the truck. An officer came up behind the trailer as we were on a curve and blindspot. We were on the white line!!!!!!! The tow truck had to pull us (because of the 5th wheel) to the snow park parking lot. Tow truck driver had to line us up then we had to unhook the trailer so he could take it to a Dodge Dealer. We spent the night in the trailer until the next day when we had to hire another tow truck from where we lived to come pick us up and take us back home. This excursion set us up for 2 individual companies, ugh! the 1st one only went back to Boring, OR and the truck sat there until the next day to be taken to Grasham Dodge. Gresham did not have the manpower to assess the situation and or fix the problem so from Gresham Dodge had to take it to Dick Hannah in Vancouver, WA only to then be taken across the street to Dick Hannah Jeep in the overflow area. Not secured and we found the passenger window open when we went to get the rest of our stuff. Have a service team manager, Austin, from Dick Hannah CJDR to have contact with regarding our truck. I heard there is no recall on the transmissions yet but from going on to the forums and seeing all of the other Dodge Ram owners, there should be. All of this should be completely covered by Dodge even the towing as if this had not occurred, we wouldn't be in debt of $4,566.53. We lost our first vacation and probably for the rest of the summer as we had numerous ones set up. Thank you

Truck fails to properly accelerate when pulling out into traffic. There is a massive delay from pedal push to the truck moving. It is such a common issue there are devices that go between the pedal and computer to solve it. It voids the warranty though. I have almost been hit 4 times due the acceleration hesitation.
Brand new 2022 ram 3500 dually, 2300 miles 330 into towing trailer 18k trailer transmission blew. Loud clunk will only move in reverse. Left me and family stranded on side of busy freeway. No tow truck could handle truck and trailer.
K1 snap ring failure in the transmission. Lost gears 1-4. Truck was stuck in the middle of the road unable to move, blocking traffic and causing safety concerns. Vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting replacement parts. There was no warning. The check engine light and service 4wd light came on as soon as the failure occurred.
Transmission failure at 2145miles while driving with check engine light truck inspected by ram dealer service and confirmed that it was the transmission that failed and they had multiple Vehicles with the same issue in the 2022 model

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that he stopped at a service station to refuel the vehicle however, after the vehicle was refueled, he depressed the brake pedal and restarted the vehicle. The contact then stated that when he shifted in the drive position, he heard a loud bang sound and then depressed the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle failed to increase speed. The check engine warning light illuminated. Despite the failure, the contact proceeded to drive the vehicle at slow speeds when smoke appeared from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall and provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

I PURCHASED THIS 2022 RAM 3500 MENTIONED ABOVE WITH 10 MILES ON IT. I DROVE IT 159 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT AND WOULD NOT MOVE. THE DEALERSHIP I TOOK IT TO MENTIONED THEY HAD TWO OTHER TRUCKS THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THAT'S BEEN THERE FOR OVER A MONTH... AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY TIMEFRAME ON WHEN IT COULD BE FIXED OR A RESOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM. I'M HOPING THERE'S A LEMON LAW I CAN ADDRESS AND WILL HAVE TO BE ON THE HUNT FOR A NEW TRUCK ONCE AGAIN, AS IT'S PART OF MY LIVELIHOOD! IS THERE ANYWAY THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM OR REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. PLEASE ADVISE ON THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION I SHOULD TAKE. THANK YOU
On 4/6/2023 at around 3:15 PM, our 2022 Ram 3500 HO 6.7 Cummins coupled with the Aisin AS69RC Transmission which failed at between 40 to 50 MPH while towing a 40' travel trailer. It was sudden when we heard two very loud clunks with jerking that coincided with each. Fortunately I was able to quickly pull onto a wide area of the shoulder from the center lane and not block or impact traffic. This could have had a high impact on traffic and the safety of others during this incident. We do not know how it could have impacted vehicle control. All forward gears were inoperative after the failure. We were stranded there for more than 3 hours waiting for two wreckers. One for the truck and one for the trailer. This was more than just an inconvenience and huge added expense that flowed into the following day when you realize what technology you rely on built into the truck. We use both vehicles for working remotely for long periods of time in a large 4 state area on the west coast. The longer this takes to remedy, impacts our ability to use the trailer. The biggest concern was the impact to our safety and to the public had we not been able to make it to the shoulder of the freeway. Truck has been inspected by a Ram Dealer. They have indicated that parts have been ordered. Ram Care has been contacted twice and a case good case number (85915865) has been created. We know of more than 160 other owners with the same story of the transmission failure with and without towing. Some have not made it home from the purchase of their vehicle. There is a group on Facebook that is capturing incidences of this with other Ram HO-6.7 Cummins-Aisin AS69RC transmission trucks. Dealer indicated they already have another vehicle on the lot (two weeks) with the same issue. There was zero warning. Failure was instantaneous.
Transmission failure while towing a travel trailer on a busy street on a slight incline. While traveling about 45 mph felt a jolt and truck lost power and would not accelerate. Felt like truck was in neutral. Truck would not engage Drive and was completely disabled in the number one lane. Tried to re engage the transmission and had success at engaging a higher gear with slow speed and high RPMs causing the engine and transmission to overheat and possibly start a fire. Safely moved across lanes to shoulder and stopped. The street is 55mph. Cars were slamming on their brakes to avoid colliding into my truck or trailer. This happened on March 30, 2023 and has been at the dealership for repairs since and has not been even inspected yet yet. No indicator or warning lamps prior to failure.
Bought 1/16/23, Failed 4/1/23 Transmission failed at 1,421mi. While towing a light trailer utilizing the tow/haul mode through the mountains of VA traffic. Stepped on the fuel pedal and an audible “Clunk” was heard. Immediately after, we lost all forward momentum and we’re able to slowly creep off the highway. Safety of all was put at risk as a dead vehicle was now blocking traffic on the highway. Check “engine” lamp came on immediately after audible sound. Gears 1-4 were inoperable with only 5-6 and reverse functioning. After further review, a TSB was published and sent to dealerships 1/11/23 stating the potential issue of a faulty part within the transmission of 2022 Ram 3500 6.7L models.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the RPM became elevated; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact stated that the cruise control and tow haul mode failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission inadvertently shifted to neutral, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was turned off and restarted; however, the contact stated he had to shift into 4WD for the vehicle to operate as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it remained awaiting diagnostic tests and repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000.

Transmission failed on road while driving and pulling up to a stop light. There were no warning lights prior to fault. RAM is currently looking for a transmission, but have said it could be several months. This is a wide spread problem with RAM 3500's with this transmission. It sounds like RAM has been trying to down play the problem and cover it up. Checking the RAM forums this if wife does with thousands of veggies waiting for me transmission. RAM continues to build new trucks, rather than divert transmissions from the factory to replace failed transmission that are in the dealer repair centers.
Sudden loss of all forward movement. Occurred without warning. I was towing a 40 foot camper on a very busy highway. This has been discussed on forums relating to vehicles with the AISIN transmission. The problem appears to be an internal component breakage in the transmission. The only message that appeared is the 4 wheel drive was inoperative. I was fortunate and was able to maneuver to the side of the highway.
I was pulling into a parking lot when my transmission failed and was only able to go in reverse. This was from a main road and the truck went from drivable to undriveable with no prior notice or issue. The truck was towed by Ram Roadside assistance to the nearest Ram dealer and the dealer confirmed that the transmission failed. They removed the transmission and diagnosed the issue as follows: The K1 clutch snap ring has failed. The part is on national backorder and your vehicle is #361 on the list of applicable trucks with a similar issue. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the transmission failure.

Transmission quit working without notice and left me stranded in the roadway with my children in the vehicle. The dealership will not replace with a new transmission because of problems with the new same transmission, instead requesting to rebuild with some updated parts. As far as I know the dealership is the only place to check the issue. Check engine light illuminated only once the transmission stopped working.
Transmission failed at stop light, No power to move forward for 1-2 minutes, when it moved it was jerky and erratic. Drove approximately 1 mile to RAM dealership for diagnostic and service. After it was parked it would no longer drive forward.
The K1 clutch snap ring failed causing a sudden loss of all forward motion while towing. Vehicle is currently at dealership service center. The loss of all forward motion caused a breakdown while towing, placing me and my family at risk while stranded and blocking road. With the vehicle (and towed fifth wheel) blocking the road, it also put other drivers at risk of crash. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by dealer. The component has not been inspected to my knowledge. Several seconds before the losing forward motion I saw the MIL lamp come on along with message of "4 wheel drive not available". It also dropped me out of tow/haul mode, I believe.
K1 snap ring failure at 2,950 miles. Vehicle currently in dealer possession. Available for inspection. Safety risk as vehicle was towing during failure causing loss of forward gears, and potential loss of control of vehicle being towed. Especially hazardous to other unsuspecting motorists around vehicle when loss of forward gears happened traveling on highway. Dealer has completed diagnostic. States clutch and other components were destroyed at time of failure. Vehicle has not gone under any inspection other than dealer. No prior warnings, or symptoms to indicate such a failure was to occur.
My vehicle suffered a complete transmission failure without any warning signs. Transmission completely stoppped working in Downtown Atlanta during rush hour traffic leaving me stranded in middle of 7 lanes of traffic. Vehicle was towed to dealer and diagnosed failure was due to failed snap ring in transmission. It is a known problem in 22'-23' model year Ram 3500, 4500, 5500 trucks. Ram calls it the K1 snap ring TSB. reference attached spreadsheet. Over app. 40 day period 127 trucks have all been confirmed to have same exact issue. Ram has limited supply of repair parts available. Average time to get customers truck back on the road is currently averaging 37 days. my dealer told me to figure 2-3 months of down time. I was told service centers can only order 1 K1 TSB Parts kits every 7 days and they take roughly a month to receive. I was told there are 4 truck in his service center ahead of mine that still need same parts kits ordered. I have been trying for 7 days now (multiple times a day) to get a case agent from Ram customer care to return my calls. Still have not received a return phone call.
The contact's son owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while her son was driving at highway speeds, an abnormal noise started coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle remained in the dealer's possession for two months before the repair was completed. Soon after the vehicle was returned, the failure recurred while driving at highway speeds. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer where it remained. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

I was pulling our camper from Southern Wisconsin to North Central Oregon for work. While driving through a snow storm, in stop and go traffic outside of Minneapolis, I felt and heard a loud clunk. Vehicle lost gears 1-4, gears 5,6, and reverse were all that were available. It was a dangerous situation due to being stranded in the left lane on I-94 during snow storm with white out conditions. This could have been even worse had the transmission failed while going over the mountains to Oregon. Transmission failed at 9117 miles on 01/03/2023. Expected parts for repair estimated to be 03/22/2023. This is a much bigger problem than is being represented on here with reports. My truck is listed on a spread sheet put together by a fellow member of a Ram truck Facebook group that is tracking these failures. My truck was the third added to the list on 01/05/2023. There are now over 90 trucks on the spreadsheet since then. See spreadsheet attached. The transmission lost gears 1 through 4 on the freeway in traffic. We were going approximately 25mph in the fast lane when it happened. We were lucky enough to have enough speed to make it to the shoulder, but were left stranded on the shoulder. Truck is at dealer needing a transmission replacement that can't be ordered at this time.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and towing a 40-ft trailer ascending a mountain, a loud clunking noise was coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was driven very slowly to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage 800.

I lost the transmission in my truck. Lost 1st thru 4th gears . I was in reverse and my truck made a loud clunk/bang the dash stated 4wheel drive unavailable. The engine light came on and it went into limp mode. 40mph top speed. I got it to the dealer on 12\23\22 and the truck has been there since. Ram is now claiming no eta of any sort and there is an engineering problem with the transmission. I worry that someone could get injured if the transmission fails at speed of in traffic. Please look into this before someone gets hurt.
I was driving on the interstate and new truck with 170 miles on it just made 2 loud noises and then would not go over 10 miles an hour, Which I think is very dangerous. Now its been at the service station for Ram for a month and the mechanic said this was his 6th truck with under 600 miles with the same problem. And Ram is not doig much to assist me.
While traveling approximately 15 miles per hour transmission locked-up in the middle of the road and would not move. Dash lit-up with check engine lights. Truck was towed to dealership where it was determined that a new transmission was needed and ordered. As of today, the truck has been at the dealership for repair for just under 40 days.
Backed out of a parking spot onto a busy road, put the truck in drive and nothing. Transmission failure. ME and my daughter were stuck in the middle of the road and truck would only go in reverse. Had to reverse a u-turn in middle of road and back into parking spot. Dealer confirmed a failure in the transmission and is repairing/ replacing. Upon fruther investigation into this issue online there is a list of truck that this is happening to. Check engine light also came on when vehical would not move.
On 4 different occasions when accelerating from a stop when we proceed forward slowly vehicle will rev up to 4500 RPM without any forward movement. After coasting to side of road we put vehicle in park and after a few minutes we put it in drive and it will run fine. We have not had any code lights appear or warning signs appear.
We were traveling westbound on the interstate I-10 towards Los Angeles California on Nov 13/22 near Cabazon CA in my 2022 Ram 3500, SRW, 6.7 HO with the Aisin transmission. It was rush hour stop-and-go traffic. I was traveling at a speed of approximately 35mph when a large bang came from under the vehicle. There was an immediate and complete power loss and we had to coast to the shoulder of the road and try to avoid being struck by traffic. Once on the shoulder, I had got out and checked under the vehicle. There was nothing that I could see that was wrong. There was a check engine light that went on. Using a jobber OB2 scanner, codes P0731 (Gear 1 incorrect ratio) and P0732 (Gear 2 incorrect ratio) were present. The truck was towed to the Redlands CDJR dealer for service with only 6700 miles on the odometer. It turned out to require a complete new Aisin transmission. The repair took a month to complete and looks to have been caused by a defective snap ring as per service bulletin 21-002-23 (K1 clutch drum snap ring and K1 input shaft drum sub assembly) although the Redlands CDJR dealer or FCA will not confirm. The bulletin states the affected vehicles are the 2022-23 Ram 3500 pickup, 3500 cab and chassis, and 4500/5500 Cab Chassis trucks. Due to the immediate power loss, with zero warning, we were just able to get to the shoulder of the road and could have easily caused a massive pile up and possible deaths due to the failure. FCA refuses to inspect or confirm that the new transmission (68498560AB) installed in my truck addresses the 21-002-23 service bulletin and said I would need to pay out of pocket for the inspection to occur at a dealer. There are numerous documented cases of newly installed transmissions failing shortly after being "repaired". I believe it would be in the publics best interest that FCA/RAM issue a recall on the effected vehicles as these vehicles are typically used for emergency, commercial and towing application's.
While driving the transmission went out, not being able to engage or use any forward moving gears.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. Additionally, the vehicle occasionally would not start as needed. The fault code: P0731 (Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio) was retrieved. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,000.

The transmission suddenly lost all forward gears while towing 3 utv on a trailer.
The transmission spontaneously slipped out of park and went into reverse. My safety was close to critically impacted. When it began to roll on its own, I was scooped by the driver door and dragged several yards until the truck impacted another vehicle and came to a stop. I very likely could have been killed. If anyone had been behind the truck they likely could have been killed. The incident resulted in significant damage to my vehicle and the vehicle that it ran into. I have not driven the truck since the incident to reproduce. Police did come out to inspect the accident. Has not gone to dealer yet. There were no warning light, buzzers, etc. completely spontaneous. Note: the vehicle was running when this happened. When I was able to get back in truck the stalk was still in park position
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Sensor never installed, digital gauge has never read anything but 0%. This can cause issues with regeneration of the DPF that will result in Limp mode.
After vehicle is in reverse and you press the brake. When you move the shifter to park and then release your foot from the brake, the truck moves backwards about 5 inches. It acts like its still in reverse.
My vehicle came with 4X4 gear box shift on the floor. I could not get it to move into neutral or 4 low gear. I hardly drove in so it was no big deal so one day I pulled up the boot around the shift and there was a screw blocking the forward movement. It was the same screw that mount the plastic around the shift, after removing it I was able to get all the gears. The danger in that screw could have put me at risk by locking me into a gear and only staying there. The only reason I discovered this was I changed out my vinyl for carpet.
