This Problem Across All Years
Trailer brake controler will report not connected when it is connected correctly. Systemm was tested and everything on the trailer is working properly. system was working corretly and suddenly stopped when on the interstate. Have had multiple shops look at the issue and no one can locate the issue. The radio/infotanment system will also disconnect radomly. Both act like a wire is lose. disconnect then reconnect and disconnect and reconnect, over and over. The radio disconnecting from the phone is an issue however not a safety concern like the trailer brake issue is. When I am pulling a 16,000 pound camper and the trailer brake stops that means I no longer have traler brakes and that can be an issue when stopping.

Intermittent abs and traction control alarm. Very random and can come on without notice. Similar issue to the recall issued in September for the 1500 ram.

Started getting an alarm for abs and traction control alarm with 15000 miles, it would come and go every few thousand miles. Truck now has 44000 miles and the alarm has appeared twice in the past 4000 miles. This almost caused an accident as it disables the abs at any given time. The dealer says it is the Hydraulic Control Unit.

Truck has 61423 miles. Started to hear a slight grinding noise from front brakes 70 miles ago. Started to get worse. Suddenly pedal went to floor and lost all front brake pressure and rear brakes did about nothing to help stop. Limped truck back to my garage. Upon inspection, front left outer pad was completely gone. Caliper was directly making contact with rotor. Inner pad still has plenty of use left. Inner pad has the metal piece to make the noise to alert you that your pads need to be replaced. I can supply pictures of caliper missing 3/16" of material and remaining pad surface.

Without warning the transmission failed. Along with loss of power, when the tranny failed, the ability to use the exhaust brake also fails. The ability to manually downshift fails. I was on steep winding roads in North Idaho (Elk River) when this occurred with three passengers aboard. Once I was able to stop, I was on a steep uphill grade with no forward gears or shoulder to pull over on. I had to coast in neutral back down the mountain to an appropriate site to get off the road. All of this with no forward or reverse gears. The vehicle was towed to a dealership where it was determined to have the K-1 snap ring failure in the Aisin transmission. This problem is common enough that parts to repair the transmission are on back order with no definitive eta available.

The brake and accelerator pedals are not aligned well. It is very easy for your foot to slip between the two when moving from the accelerator to the brake. The offset heights and distance of travel result in your foot slipping in-between them. This prevents the vehicle from stopping and can cause an accident. It seems like the accelerator pedal should be further forward than the brake pedal. I don't have this issue with any other vehicles I have driven. I'm 6' with a size 11 boot. My entire boot slips between these pedals easily.

This vehicle went back to the dealer numerous times and ultimately was surrendered to Chrysler under lemon law. It had ABS braking issues along with trailer brake problems. At about 8000 miles it started having ABS alarms which cause a bunch of other issues that I feel is a serious safety problem. When the ABS system malfunctions it causes the traction control,4 wheel drive, and trailer brake systems to fail as well. I never brought the vehicle home after the last incident in September 2022 as I felt it was totally unsafe to drive especially with the trailer attached.
