There is currently a recall on Ram Promasters built in 2022 and onward for an issue with the backup camera. My vehicle was built in the spring of 2021 and has the identical issue but is not covered under the recall.

While preparing for a trip, I noticed the upper kitchen cabinetry is detaching from the ceiling and in danger of falling. This section is part of the cabinetry housing the microwave. The detaching cabinet has a glass plate attached to the bottom as a heat guard for the stove directly below it. The stove also has a glass top. It has the potential to injury an occupant both by its weight and glass breakage during travel or when stationary. Occupants can be sitting directly across from the cabinet on the couch which has seat belts. There is a 16 inch aisle between the stove top and the edge of the couch. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate type of safety issue for your agency, but I felt it could surely injure occupants in the kitchen area.

This unit will not go up hills. The RPM are 5-6 and the speed is only 40mph Semi trucks pass us going up hills We cannot drive speeds beyond 55-60 mph with highway driving This causes a danger to ourselves and the drivers around us. The backup of traffic is not safe. The dodge ram dealership advised us the unit is not road ready for hills because of its weigh. Can you access the safety of this unit

When we started the engine, the awning deployed and almost injured one of us. We have already supposedly had this problem repaired due to a recall. Obviously it is still a danger to ourselves and others.

There were two recalls for the Carefree Awning unexpectedly deploying on Winnebago Travato camper vans. I recently went in for the 2nd recall and after completing it, the awning failed when the shop was testing it after completing the recall. Recall letter arrived on April 8th and called my dealer (McLain’s in Denton) on April 9th, and they ordered parts. They texted on June 13th to say the parts had arrived. I called and scheduled the first slot. I arrived on Jun 24th at 9am. By early afternoon, the lead tech came to visit me and said this recall was very complicated, and it appeared it would not be complete that day. My wife drove the 80+ mile round trip to pick me up that afternoon. On Tuesday (6/25) about mid-day they called and said they were done, but when testing it, the awning shot out at high speed. They said the wedge had been installed, which was supposed to prevent this issue, so I don’t understand how it failed. They said there were ordering a new motor. I sent emails to both Winnebago and Carefree to alert them to this failure and ask that they investigate how this recall did not solve the issue of awning deployment from a broken gear. Winnebago responded, "We would recommend McClain's review this issue with our tech support. If the awning recall is done properly, this should not happen. The recall remedy has been thoroughly tested and approved by NHTSA.” I replied to them and ask them to reach out to McClain’s and do a thorough investigation. On Wednesday (6/26), I checked with McLain’s, and they said they were still waiting for Winnebago to approve the replacement motor. Friday (6/28). I got a text at 9am saying the part arrived. Carefree did respond and said they would need a photo of the wedge installation to make sure it was done correctly. Winn and Carefree should be taking this more seriously and investigating. They completed it and I picked it up on Sat (6/29). It is working, but I have no confidence they fixed the root issue.

Sir/ma'am GM. The issue with the PROMASTER is water getting into the engine bay. It appears that gaps appear in between the windshield and the cowling. Researched multiple social media posts and this is a growing issue with the PROMASTER. Water flows through the center of the cowling and accumulates on the engine and other electrical components within the engine bay. This creates a safety hazard while not while driving but also while parked.

Prior to receiving recall notice via email I noticed that the van didn’t fully engage being in “park” some of the time. I had to stop it from rolling.

While driving on a straight highway, no wind, no weather, 65 mph, both hands on wheel, the van started revving and lost power. I pulled over with engine still running. There were no codes or warning light. I tried to drive again. It continued to rev and not get up to speed. I pulled over again and shut it down. I waited a few minutes and then started it. When pulling back on freeway it ran normal with no more issues for another 700 miles. I took it in to the Dodge dealer on 1-13-23 to have it checked. They couldn't find anything. I'm reporting this because it was a very scary and dangerous incident. I was lucky to have a place to pull over and not be in heavy traffic.

Propane monitor alarm went off while driving and continued while parked. RV tech found that LPG line leading to Truma Combi water heater/furnace kinked, cracked, and leaking propane gas. Tech disconnected propane and recommended the RV be returned to the manufacturer.

RV build from Forest River/Coachmen. Nova model. Inverter settings were incorrect from the factory. This in turn caused too much voltage to go to house battery. House battery was then out gassing hydrogen into the coach. This hydrogen collected inside and was setting off the CO detector.

THOR cabinet fell off also pulling down microwave. This cabinet contains all the HVAC controls, wifi connectivity, system control panel, and solar control panel. The passenger bench seat with seat belts is across from this cabinet. No one was hurt. The cabinet was hanging by its wires. The dealer came to our house to examine damage. No warning, No visible signs that it was coming apart.

August 6, 2021 NHTSA Safety Issue ID: 21V3960000 As a first-time purchaser of an RV, what I had hoped would be an answer to some of my life’s difficulties has turned out to be a nightmare. I walked into nothing less than a predatory vehicle purchasing experience with General RV in Ashland VA and the worst customer care experience ever from Thor Motor Coach, based in Elkhart, IN. Currently, I am stuck with a brand new 2022 Thor Scope Class B RV that has been sitting in my driveway since the day I purchased it on June 29th, 2021. Between July 1st and July 7th 2021, I have spoken with Thor Motor Coach customer care many times. On July 15th, I wrote a letter to Thor and delivered it by email per a rep's suggestion. 1.There’s a Safety Recall on Thor Motor Coach Scope 18M I learned through the Thor Motor Coach owner’s blog that there is a safety recall on some of the Thor Scope 2022 vehicles. The article dated June 5th 2021 https://www.rvtravel.com states that letters would go out to owners about the safety recall by July 26th 2021. I contacted Thor Motor Coach and spoke to a customer care rep, who verified on July 12, 2021, that there is a safety recall on the VIN associated with the vehicle I purchased, specifically that the Flex 190 solar panel junction box may overheat due to an electrical short and cause a fire and potential injury. Thor Motor Coach customer care recommended that I not drive the vehicle due to the safety recall, so in addition to the low clearance generator/batteries, and bottoming out issue that I've reported to NHTSA, the vehicle is not in safe driving condition and therefore remains in my driveway. To date, I have not received any written notification about the problem nor potential unsafe condition of the vehicle although NHTSA has posted notices under the Safety Issue ID number 21V3960000, but not the VIN.

Vehicle bottomed out and lodged on concrete entering driveway. Thor Scope Ram Promaster 1500 Chassis sits low and Thor installed Cummins Onan generator and 2 Trojan batteries under the chassis, that sit 2 or more inches below the rear axle against the Cummins install guidelines. The generator needs 6 to 8 inches for ventilation according to manual and RV mechanics. Both generator and batteries collocated together coming in contact with road debris, objects, water on roadways may cause critical failure of systems resulting in hazardous conditions (stalling, loss of control, fire, explosion) to drivers.
