This Problem Across All Years
My vehicle is subject to Safety Recall 67C for an engine-compartment fire risk involving the cooling fan module and inadequate fuse protection. I contacted an authorized Ram dealership and Stellantis corporate. Both confirmed that the recall is open and that no repair remedy is currently available. Stellantis has confirmed in writing (Case #95056397) that there is no interim safety solution available for affected owners while this recall remains unresolved. This vehicle is my primary residence. Stellantis has offered rental reimbursement, but this does not provide a safe or realistic interim solution for a vehicle that functions as both transportation and housing. The manufacturer has acknowledged a fire risk but has provided no interim safety guidance or accommodation for owners who cannot reasonably stop using the vehicle while awaiting a remedy. I am reporting this as a safety concern due to the lack of a remedy and the absence of interim safety guidance for affected owners. Stellantis has issued a stop-sale on affected vehicles, confirming the seriousness of the defect, while existing owners remain without a viable safety alternative.

Less than a half mile into my work day the van started flashing all warning lights ( Hill assist, power steering, service engine, abs ETC.) I was on a busy road and was attempting to pull off to safety But the van turned off. Was able to jump it after 2 attempts and get it to the dealer 1 mile away, without any other lights coming back on aside from CEL. Dealer informed me I have 2 Corroded wiring harnesses, bad rack & Pinion and alternator is at 7%.... From what I've heard, this is a problem that could have been prevented by the manufacturers.. I also had a Transmission replacement at 30k miles and full Engine replacement at 55k miles. Currently at 80k Miles... This is Unacceptable for a Commercial fleet vehicle.

Sudden failure of the power steering system. Vehicle became very difficult to steer, lucky no other cars or pedestrians were in the area. Per the dealer water entered the wiring harness and entered the power steering module causing it to fail. When the power steering failed, warning messages began appearing on the dash, which included "hill assist needs service", "ECS needs service", "FWC system needs service" and "Engine needs service".

Power steering failure. Luckily for us, the failure happened while still in our driveway, so no accident or collision occurred. We had warning messages for ESC, hill start assist, and several other systems, but nothing for EPS (electric power steering). The dealership was able to repair the problem by replacing the steering rack and two associated wiring harnesses. The mechanic noted water and a lot of corrosion in the wiring connector on the steering rack. This vehicle has only had normal water exposure (rain and puddles on the road).

I purchased this Ram Promaster 3500 in 2022. In 2023 I was in Canada and went to have a spare key made. The dealer was unable to program a key to the vehicle. When I returned home to the Seattle area I took the vehicle to a Seattle Ram Business link dealer. They were also unable to program a key. May of 2025 I took the vehicle in for work and asked them to continue investigating the key issue. They were still unable to do so and said that I needed a new RFH. This repair did not fix the problem and made it impossible to start the engine. They also replaced the PCM. This did not correct the problem. A tech was called from MOPAR who found a STAR ONLINE PUBLICATION for mopar which states that between Ram vehicles ( I don’t know if it is specific to ProMasters) manufactured between the dates of 11/29/2021 and 12/23/2021 had an “incorrect encryption software being programmed to the immobilizer modules.” If you type the VIN into the Service Library you can verify that S2208000129 is applicable. I was not made aware of this until I picked up the vehicle from the dealer with the old parts reinstalled. My concern is that I don’t know what else this problem in terms of the electrical and safety systems.

Sliding door of van will trigger as not closed randomly while driving. You will not be able to lock the doors if the warning is on. Cleaning contact points does not help.

The chassis battery keeps dying after a few days. There was a recall for awning to correct issue because it would open on its own. We did recall now there is another one for seatbelt. But no one is addressing the battery that keeps draining. We replaced battery already once. Dodge said it will go dead after a week no matter what. Ours don’t even make it 4 days. This is a safety issue because of the awning opening but it affects the battery. We would get stuck and no one to jump us.

On November 3, 2023 I was driving the van on the NYS Thruway. I had stopped at a rest area to use the facilities. When I returned to the van about 5 minutes later the vehicle was smoking profusely and objects were falling out of the engine area. By the time i got to the van there were flames coming out of the engine area and the entire front of the van was engulfed in flames. Luckily someone had called the fire department and the flames were extinguished quickly. In the meantime I had removed 2 Alpacas from the rear of the van with the help of witnesses. There were no warning signs of an issue with the engine. No warning lights and not burning odor. So, yes, I feel the I, my alpacas, and others safety were put at risk. I am so thankful that the fire started while I was stopped at the rest area and not while driving on the thruway and avoided a real tragedy. The van is a total loss. The incident has been reported to insurance and currently under investigation and are waiting a final report.

Lemon Law Initiated, Chrysler/Mopar Case #[XXX] Support requested for refund of Ram Promaster fleet purchase from Johnson Auto Plaza via [XXX] Johnson Auto Plaza (originating dealer) 112410 East 136th Brighton, Colorado 80601 [XXX] 06/15/2023 Paonia, Colorado RAM would not turn off--keyless malfunction apparently Roamly RV Insurance did not respond to Roadside Assistant I did not know at the time that I could have/should have contacted Mopar RAM continues to run so our best option at the time was to drive toward the closest Ram Dealer in Montrose, Colorado---30.99 miles away Flower Motor Company 2580 North Townsend Avenue Montrose, Colorado 81401 Unfortunately, the Fuel ran low via dashboard alert--RAM would not turn off after repeated attempts, so against our better judgement, we added fuel with the SAFETY ISSUE (!!!) of adding fuel to an running vehicle. Again, with what seemed like the only option, we reluctantly added fuel WHILE THE RAM WAS RUNNING!!!! SO SCARY!!!!! Service Department/Dealership at the Flower Motor Company in Montrose, Colorado was closed upon arrival (Dealership and Service Department hours 8:00am-5:30) SAFETY ISSUE!!! We had to sleep in the RAM in the parking lot of the dealership--WITH THE MOTOR RUNNING!!! The Montrose Police came to help turn off engine but with no luck, they agreed that spending the night in the RAM was perhaps the best action, yet this was again a SAFETY ISSUE (!!!) due to the vulnerability of sleeping on a property without permission or security in a city we do not know. EXHAUST EXPOSURE (SAFETY ISSUE!!!) overnight the Flower Motor Group Service Department opened on 06/16/2023 at 7:30-5:30. We were awakened by the Service Manager (SAFETY ISSUE!!!). We did know who he was initially and were rightfully reluctant to open the doors when we knocked and said, "Wake up!" DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS attached.
