The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated all the door locks and trunk functionality stopped due to the battery drainage from an electrical failure. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact replaced the battery; however, the battery drained again. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that she was calling on behalf of her deceased son. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing failures with the electrical system. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the brake lights would fail to illuminate while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that her son had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who had informed him that the brakes needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

The contact stated while driving 45 MPH in the rain, the "Traction Control Off" and "Stability Control Off" messages appeared on the instrument panel and the vehicle inadvertently shifted to third gear independently. The contact also stated that when he depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle switched gears to neutral and the windows opened. The contact stated that the vehicle was hydroplaning while driving. The vehicle was taken to a Pepboys location to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle had lost connection with the body control module. The contact stated that he became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall repair. The contact stated the dealer completed the recall repair however, the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that they could no longer assist because the vehicle was already repaired per the manufacturer's instructions. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for diagnostic testing. A case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 194,800.

SINCE THE CAR WAS REPURCHASED FROM ANOTHER BUY THE CAR HAS HAD ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH IT. IT BLOWS A FUSE CONSTANTLY CAUSING THE REAR TAILLIGHTS NOT TO WORK WHEN THE FUSE IS THEN REPLACED IT LAST A DAY OR SO THEN BLOWS AGAIN. THIS C NOT IN NUESBTO HAPPEN EVEN AFTER REPLACE THE TAILLIGHTS WITH NEW ONES. WE REPLACED THE ENTIRE THING NOT JUST THE BULBS. THE HEADLIGHTS EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE HAD ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THEM THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AND GO OFF AS IF IT'S GOT A SHORT IN IT SOME WHERE. THE BATTERY HAS A SHORT SOME WHERE I THINK. AT TIMES AFTER DRIVING IT WE GO TO SHUT IT OFF AND WE'LL GO IN THE STORE AND COME AND THE CAR WON'T START. WE HAVE HAD TO WAIT 2-3 HOURS BEFORE IT WOULD START UP AGAIN. SO SINCE WE LIVE IN THE DESERT IT BEING HOT WE STARTED CHECKING THINGS. WHEN THE BATTERY IS LIFTED UP ON OR MY BED AROUND THE CAR WILL THEN ATTEMPT TO START BUT IT JUST MAKES THE NOISE LIKE IT IS TRYING TO CRANK OVER AND THERE'S BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES THAT THE IGNITION HAS ATTEMPTED TO START ITSELF WHILE MESSING WITH THE BATTERY. AND THE IGNITION GETS STUCK. SOON AS WE LET GO OF THE BATTERY IT STOPS TRYING TO DO ANYTHING. WE HAVE REPLACED THE STARTER THE BATTERY AND OTHER THINGS AND NOTHING'S WORKS TO FIX IT. ALSO THE DOOR LOCKS LIKE TO ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE RANDOMLY ON THEIR OWN AS IF THE CAR IS HAUNTED. CAUSING US TO DISCONNECT THEM ALL TOGETHER.

SERVICE ESC WARNING LIGHT WILL COME ON RANDOMLY CAUSING THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE WITHOUT PUSHING THE BRAKES. BRAKE LIGHTS WILL SOMETIMES TURN OFF WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. THIS HAS BEEN THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL AND HAS BEEN IN FOR THE RECALL TWICE BUT STILL HAVING ISSUES. THE TRANSMISSION CAN BE MOVED FROM PARK WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE LIGHTS WILL MALFUNCTION WHILE DRIVING.

THE SATURN AURA HAS REPEATEDLY HAD DOOR LOCK SWITCHES GO OUT, EACH TIME THE FRONT HEAD LIGHT IS REPLACED, IT BLOWS OUT AGAIN, THE LIGHTS INSIDE THE CAR DIM RANDOMLY. THE TRACTION CONTROL/ABS LIGHTS ARE DISABLED ON THE CAR CONSTANTLY DESPITE REPLACING THE ECM, UPPER AND LOWER INTAKE GASKETS, COOLANT FLUSHING, AND OTHER CLEARED CODES. THE CAR JERKS AND JOLTS WHEN SLOWING DOWN, PARKING, STARTING, AND CHANGING GEARS. IT VIOLENTLY PUSHES THE CAR. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND TIRE PRESSURE LIGHTS ALSO REMAIN CONSTANT DESPITE CONSISTENT WORK ON THE CAR. FOUR DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS (INCLUDING A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP) HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE ISSUES WITH THE CAR. THE CAR ALSO ENGAGED LOW POWER MODE AND ALMOST CAUSED NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS BECAUSE THE CAR STOPPED BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHILE ON THE ROAD.

TAKATA RECALL MY CAR'S POWER FLUCTUATED WHICH HIGH ACCELERATION THEN BASICALLY DOWN TO NO POWER AND THE RPM GAUGE SHUT DOWN WHILE STILL TRAVELING AT 55 MPH BUT THE BREAKS AND STEERING HAD HIGH RESISTANCE WHICH MADE ME GO INTO A PANIC, I EVENTUALLY PULLED TO THE CURB AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND CALLED MY HUSBAND HE TOLD ME TO TRY MAKING IT HOME AT A SLOW SPEED IF IT STILL DRIVES SO I STARTED THE CAR AND THE RPM GAUGE WAS BACK WORKING AND I TOLD HIM AND HE SAID THE PROBLEM SOUNDS ELECTRICAL AND DANGEROUS SO I GOT HOME AND WE HOOKED UP A OBD2 CODE READER AND IT GAVE US COFDE C0561 SO MY HUSBAND GOOGLED THE CODE AND IT MENTIONED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THEN WE FOUND YOUR SITE NHTSA.GOV WE FOLLOWED THE STEPS AND DISCOVERED THERE WAS A PENDING UNREPAIRED REALL ON MY VEHICLE AND IT WAS ABOUT THAT SAME PROBLEM AND EXPLAIN THE FIX REMEDY THAT INVOLVED THE BCM SO I CONTACTED THE CHEVROLE, CADILLAC T DEALERSHIP IN VICTORVILLE CA AND MADE A APPOINTMENT FOR 07/15/2019 TO HAVE THE RECALL PERFORMED AND AS WE ARRIVED FOR THE RECALL WE WERE GREETED BY ROBERT KHOURY AND HE GOT INFORMATION OF OUR VISIT AND IMMEDIATELY STATED THAT IF THEY CHECK THE BCM WE'LL BE CHARGED $139.00 THAT WILL BE APPLIED TO THE REPAIR I THEN LET HIM KNOW NHTSA.GOV SAID THE RECALL WILL BE DONE FREE OF CHARGE AND MR. KHOURY THEN STATED JUNK PEOPLE POST ON WEBSITES SO I TOLD HIM NHTSA IS A OFFICIAL SITE BUT HE WOULDN'T LISTEN AND STATED NO PAY NO FIX BUT WE'LL REPAIR THE BREAK LAMP ONLY SO I LEFT THE CAR WITH THEM HOPING THE MECHANICS WOULD DO THE RIGHT THING, I WENT TO MY OFFICE AND PRINTED OUT NHTSA SAFETY ISSUES & RECALLS AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TRYED TO SHOW MR KHOURY BUT HE REFUSED TO READ IT. WE LEFT AGAIN THEN WAS CONTACTED LATER SAYING THE CAR WAS READY AND ON MY WAY HOME IT REPEATED THE SAME THING IT DID WHICH LED TO THE RECALL I CALLED THE DEALER AND KHOURY SAID YOU DIDN'T WANNA PAY

THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE VEHICLE ROLLING WHILE IN PARK, REVERSE, OR DRIVE AND HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO PREVENT A CRASH. IN ADDITION, THE ONSTAR SYSTEM (VOICE COMMAND) AND RADIO WOULD ACTIVATE ON THEIR OWN DUE TO AN INTERNAL ELECTRICAL WIRING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LARRY PUCKETT CHEVROLET (2101 COBBS FORD RD, PRATTVILLE, AL 36066, (334) 223-4481) AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED MORE THAN FOUR TIMES DUE TO THE LOSS OF POWER, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF REPAIR FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, ENGINES HAVE BEEN REPLACED BUT NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND. WHEN DRIVING AROUND 60MPH THE ENGINE WOULD STALL AND 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED' AND 'TRACTION OFF' WOULD FLASH, REDUCING THE CAR SPEED AND MAKING ACCELERATION NEAR IMPOSSIBLE- SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES IN ONE TRIP. CAR ACCELERATES VERY SLOWLY AND CAUSES TRAFFIC BUILDUP. RPM IS AT 5 (X1000)/MIN AT JUST 30MPH AND THE ENGINE IS MAKING LOUD NOISES. SOMETIMES WHEN STALLED OR AT A RED LIGHT THE ENGINE WILL CUT OUT COMPLETELY AND THE CAR WILL DIE. ALMOST CONSISTENTLY THE CAR WILL RATTLE AND SHAKE IN A PULSING MATTER. AS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOPS AND NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIND A SOLUTION. OFTEN TIMES THE ENGINE IS REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM COMES BACK AFTER A COUPLE WEEKS.

I WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND THROWING CODES. MOSTLY 0641, 0107, 0106 AND 1682. I HAVE A CODE READER AND WAS ALWAYS ABLE TO CLEAR THEM. I THEY CAME BACK RIGHT AWAY I WOULD DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE CABLE AND THAT WOULD SEEM TO WORK. SOMETIMES I WOULD DRIVE FOR A COUPLE WEEKS TO A MONTH OR TWO WITH NO PROBLEMS. THEN ON AUG. 21, 2017 THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND I HAD A HARD TIME GETTING IT STARTED AGAIN. WHEN I DID IT WAS RUNNING ROUGH. SO I DROVE IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER, THEY RESET THE CODES AND UPDATED THE ECM. THE NEXT NIGHT I WAS DRIVING, CAR WAS RUNNING SMOOTH, NO PROBLEMS. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT AND REDUCED POWER AND TRACTION OFF WARNING CAME ON. IT WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND STALLED. I TRIED TO RESTART IT AND THE WAS A FAIRLY LOUD NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THERE WERE CODES SET 1682, 0452, 0641, AND 0107. I TRIED TO CLEAR THEM WITH MY CODE READER BUT THEY WOULDN'T CLEAR. I UN DID THE NEGATIVE CABLE AND THAT DIDN'T WORK. I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR AND ALL I GOT WAS A MILD CLICKING SOUND I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL FROM UNDER THE HOOD, SO I THOUGHT THE ECM BURNT UP. SINCE I WAS UNABLE TO GET IT STARTED I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE NEXT DAY THE WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER THEY ASKED ME IF I WANTED TO HAVE THE REPAIRS NEEDED FROM THE PREVIOUS DAY DONE. NONE OF THE NOTED REPAIRS HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITHE THE CAR DYING. I TOLD THEM TO JUST FIGURE OUT WHY THE CAR WILL NOT START. WHILE THEY WERE WORKING ON IT I CALLED GM OWNER ASSISTANCE BECAUSE AT THIS POINT I HAD SOME FEELINGS OF MISTRUST. THE DEALER CALLED ME AFTER 3 HOURS AND TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT GOING TO CHARGE ME THE SERVICE FEE AND MY ENGINE WAS SEIZED. I WAS FLABBERGASTED. I ASKED THEM HOW COULD THE ENGINE JUST SEIZE UP WITH NO WARNING. I

ON THESE VEHICLES, OVER TIME AN INCREASED RESISTANCE CAN DEVELOP IN THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONNECTION SYSTEM AND RESULT IN VOLTAGE FLUCTUATIONS OR INTERMITTENCY IN THE BRAKE APPLY SENSOR (BAS) CIRCUIT THAT CAN CAUSE SERVICE BRAKE LAMP MALFUNCTION. HE DESCRIBED IT AS SMALL WHITE PLASTIC PIECES. NO EXPLANATION WHERE THEY CAME FROM OR WHAT THEY WERE. HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. THE AURA, WHILE NOT LEAVING ME STRANDED HAS ALWAYS HAS A "POLTERGEIST", LIGHTS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, ENGINE LIGHTS COMING ON AND OFF AND NO REPAIRS NEEDED, ETC. I HAS ALWAYS IDLED STRANGELY, AS IF IT MIGHT SHUT OFF AT A STOP AND FELT AS IF MY RPM'S INCREASED BUT NO SPEED DURING ACCELERATION. I HAVE A 2007 SATURN AURA. I'M CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V252000 (RECALL # 13036). ADDITIONAL TO THIS ISSUE, I'M COMPLAINING THAT THIS ISSUE COULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH DRAINING MY CAR BATTERY. SINCE THIS ISSUE I HAVE REPLACED THREE (3) BRAND NEW BATTERIES. I HAD MY ALTERNATOR CHECKED TWICE AND BOTH TEST RESULTS DIAGNOSIS WAS PASSED. WHICH MEANS THAT MY ALTERNATOR IS GOOD AND DIDN'T NEED TO BE REPLACED. EACH TIME I HAVE MY BATTERY REPLACED WITH A BRAND NEW BATTERY THE LIFE SPAN OF THE BATTERY IS ABOUT 3 WEEKS. AFTER THAT THE BATTERY IS DEAD. IF I DON'T REPLACE THE BATTERY AND GET A JUMP START THE LIFE SPAN OF THE BATTERY LAST ABOUT 7-10 DAYS BEFORE I WILL NEED ANOTHER JUMP START. TODAY, AUGUST 9, 2014 I AGAIN HAD MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR DIAGNOSED AND BOTH PASSED THE TEST. AGAIN AFTER MY 3RD VISIT TO JOSEPH CHEVROLET WITH MY CAR AND A NEW FILE # 71-1300874571 JOSEPH CHEV CHARGED ME $269.16 TO REPLACE THE BRAKE SWITCH AND REPAIR WIRING AT BPP SWITCH. I PLEADED WITH JOSEPH CHEV AND GM THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE DRIVING WITH BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THEY SHOULD NOT BE CHARGING ME OVER $800.00 FOR A DEFECT THAT IS HAPPENING ON OTHER SATURN AURA VEHICLES. THE BODY COMPUTER SETS THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON INDEPENDENT OF BRAKE ACTUATION. THIS GIVES DRIVERS BEHIND THE SATURN THE FALSE INDICATION THE SATURN IS STOPPING CREATING CONFUSION IN THAT THE FOLLOWING DRIVERS NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE BRAKING SIGNAL DISPLAYED. WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE BRAKE LIGHTS MOMENTARILY EXTINGUISH THEN OPERATE CORRECTLY. ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING CONCLUDES THE PROBLEM IS IN THE BODY COMPUTER TO AUTOMOBILE CONNECTOR. GM SAYS APPLYING DIELECTRIC GREASE TO ALL THE CONTACTS ON THE BODY COMPUTER TO AUTOMOBILE CONNECTOR SOLVES THE PROBLEM; THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX AS THE PROBLEM RECURS. IF THE DRIVER IS ASTUTE ENOUGH TO NOTE THE PROBLEM (CRUISE CONTROL RELEASES AND WON'T SET, OR IF AT NIGHT SEES THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT REFLECTION IN THE REAR WINDSHIELD), APPLYING SIDEWAYS PRESSURE TO THE CONNECTOR MAY TEMPORARILY RESOLVE THE PROBLEM... IN JUNE OF 2013, WHEN THE CONSUMER STOPPED FOR GAS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RE-START. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED 150 MILES TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS AN IGNITION MODULE. DRIVING ALONG A COUPLE OF MILES, THE BEEPING NOISE RETURNED, AS WELL AS THE RED LIGHT. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT, BUT CONTINUED ON FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE RIDE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS DETERMINED TO BE A MODULE IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND IT WOULD COST $1242 TO REPLACE IT. *JB

A FELLOW DRIVER WAVED ME DOWN TO TELL ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE "BACKWARDS," I.E., THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON UNTIL I HIT THE BRAKES, THEN ALL REAR LIGHTS WENT OFF. WORRISOME, TO SAY THE LEAST. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED A LIKELY PROBLEM WITH THE BCM, WITH WHICH THERE SEEMS TO BE A GROUNDING ISSUE. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. OTHER ITEMS HAVE COME UP OVER TIME: NO RESPONSE TO THE REMOTE CONTROL TO UNLOCK THE DOORS (OTHER BUTTONS CAN BE INTERMITTENT). CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGING WHILE DRIVING, OR CRUISE NOT SETTING AT ALL; DOORS NOT LOCKING/UNLOCKING WHEN THE CAR IS SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR VICE VERSA; AND THE NEWEST: THE AUTO WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE WILL NOT WORK, EVEN THOUGH THE LEVER IS SET TO AUTO (RESETTING DOES NOT WORK; SOMETIMES IT WILL RE-ENGAGE IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF FOR AN HOUR OR SO, SOMETIMES NOT). I PAID $650 TO HAVE 4 NEW SPEED SENSOR/SOLENOID, VARIABLE TIMING ACTUATORS INSTALLED, BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T GET OUT OF 3RD GEAR SO I HAD THE CAR TOWED 25MI TO THE CLOSEST GMC SATURN/CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOR THE TRANSMISSION WORK SINCE I WAS GIVEN $4K - $6K ESTIMATES FOR THE BALANCE OF THE WORK LOCALLY. AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY LOOKED AT IT AND AFTER A WEEK, THEY REPLACED CP $1,328.11??,INTERNAL PRESSURE SENSOR SOLENOID FAILED, REPLACED TRANS CONTROL MODULE AND AFTER PAYING OVER $1,050.00 OF THE $2,167.34 BILL, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TIMING BELT WAS STRETCHED, AND I NEEDED TO DRIVE IT TENDERLY BUT THAT IT WASN'T WORTH PAYING TO HAVE THE CHAIN REPLACED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ON. I DROVE IT HOME AND THE NEXT MORNING THE CAR STILL WOULDN'T GET OUT OF 3RD GEAR. I HAD TO DRIVE THE 25 MILES BACK TO THE DEALER AT 40MPH ON BACK ROADS WHICH TOOK 2 HOURS. SEAT BELT ALERT ON DASH KEEPS TELLING ME THAT THE SEAT BELT FOR THE DRIVER IS NOT BUCKLED EVEN WHEN DRIVER IS BUCKLED IN. THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE THAT HAD BEEN HANDLED UNDER A WARRANTY CLAIM BY REPLACING THE DASH CLUSTER AFTER MANY TRIPS TO THE DEALER. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS REPLACED UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. NOW THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED AND GM IS REFUSING ANY SORT OF REPLACEMENT OR DIAGNOSIS ON THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH IT DEALS WITH PASSENGER SAFETY. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS NEW AND HAVE ON GOING ISSUES WITH THE DASH CLUSTER AND IT MALFUNCTIONING WITH GM TELLING ME EVERY TIME THAT THEY WILL NO LONGER FIX IT. I CALLED THE SERVICE CENTER AND TOOK IT TO THE LAST SATURN SERVICE CENTER IN FORT WORTH WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT I'D MOST ASSUREDLY FLOODED MY PASSENGER COMPARTMENT (NEVER DROVE THE CAR INTO A BODY OF WATER--CONFUSED???). THE FIX WAS TO REPLACE THE ACM, THE PASSENGER SENSING MAT, AND THE SEAT HEATER--TOTAL COST ~$1K. BUT MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY! THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED TO HAPPEN AND ANOTHER DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER ISOLATE THE PROBLEM. THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND ARE UNPREDICTABLE. THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY REPLACED THE BRAKE MODULE ONCE, BUT WE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON-GOING. MY RESEARCH HAS INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND ONE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THE CHEAP CONNECTORS IN THE BRAKE MODULE CORRODE AND CAUSE MAY ISSUES: 1. THE BRAKE LIKES WILL OFTEN STAY ON WHILE NOT PRESSING THE BRAKE. THEN THEY WILL TURN OFF WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. THIS HAPPENS MOST OFTEN, BUT IS ALSO INCONSISTENT AT TIMES. THE LIGHTS SIMPLY ARE NOT RELIABLE AND DO NOT WORK AS THEY SHOULD. 2. THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT FUNCTION DUE TO FAULTY BRAKE ENGAGEMENT SIGNAL. 3. IT IS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT THE GEAR SELECTOR DUE TO THE SANE ISSUE. YOU MUST PRESS EXTREMELY HARD ON THE BRAKE TO GET IT TO SHIFT AND THIS LEADS TO ABNORMAL SOUNDS AND OPERATION OF THE BRAKE LEVER. WE HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT WE DON'T FEEL IT ACCEPTABLE TO PAY $100 DEDUCTIBLE TO FIX AN ONGOING PROBLEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THIS HAS LED TO US NOT USING THE VEHICLE MUCH DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 50K MILES ON IT AFTER 6 YEARS. CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT SET. NOTICED CENTER BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON WITHOUT STEPPING ON BRAKE. STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AND BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT. GM SERVICE BULLETIN CLAIMS PROBLEM IS CONNECTOR ON COMPUTER BOARD THAT DEVELOPS CORROSION. IN SEPTEMBER 2010 AND AGAIN IN JULY 2011, MY CAR BEGAN HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH BACK UP LIGHTS (NON EXISTENT) AND BRAKE LIGHTS. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ON WHEN DRIVING AND WOULD GO OFF WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED. THIS ALSO SEEMED TO HAPPEN IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED. OTHER DRIVERS FLAGGED ME DOWN TO ALERT ME TO THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE CHIMSEL LIGHT IN THE REAR WINDOW REMAINED LIT WHILE DRIVING AND TURNED OFF IF BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED. I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL GM DEALER TWICE..IT TOOK 2 WEEKS EACH TIME, TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM, WHICH WAS EVENTUALLY IDENTIFIED AS A FAULTY BODY CONTROL MODULE. THIS WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR, THAT HAD TO BE COMPLETED TWICE. 2007 SATURN AURAS SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHTS ARE ON AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS NOT ON WHEN SOMEONE SITS IN THE VEHICLE. ALSO THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ONE WHILE I WAS IN PARK AND THE ENTIRE LIGHT PANEL FLICKERED. DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WENT FROM 65 TO 40 ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. THE DASH DISPLAYED SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. THE CARS SPEED DROPPED SO FAST I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI. LUCKILY I GLANCED UP IN TIME NOT TO GET REAR ENDED. THE CAR IS NOW RUNNING FINE. I PURCHASED THIS SATURN WITH 32K ON IT, TWO DAYS AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE IT STARTED OVERHEATING AND THE AIR CONDITIONER WENT OUT. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. IT TOOK THEM A WEEK TO FIX THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY HAD TO COMPLETELY REWIRE A FEW THINGS. ONE MONTH AFTER THAT HAPPENED, I NOTICED WHEN I TURNED I FELT A POPPING IN THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I AGAIN CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY HAD ME BRING THE VEHICLE IN AND STATED SOMETHING WAS LOOSE IN THE AXEL SHAFT AND THEY 'FIXED' THE POPPING BY TIGHTENING IT UP. THREE MONTHS FOLLOWING THE ABOVE EVENTS, I NOTICED THE POPPING STARTED AGAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE FRONT BALL JOINT, RACK, AND PINION. I DROVE AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND IMMEDIATELY HAD TO TURN AROUND AND RETURN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. AT THAT POINT THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR FIVE MONTHS STRAIGHT. THEY SAY THEY REPLACED EVERYTHING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN DOWN. EVERY TIME I CALLED FOR AN UPDATE THEY ALWAYS HAD A DIFFERENT ANSWER. I HAVE REPLACED THE ROTORS ON THIS CAR 3 TIMES NOW AND IT ONLY HAS 60K. THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY REPLACED THE AIRBAG COIL BUT YET IT CONTINUES TO COME ON. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING CONSTANTLY IN 5TH AND 6TH GEAR. THIS CAR HAS BEEN THE WORST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GM PRODUCT AGAIN. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THIS CAR SINCE THE DAY I BROUGHT IT HOME. MY HUSBAND WAS CALLED TO DEPLOY TO IRAQ AND WE HAD A 2 WEEK OLD BABY SO WE HAD TO GET A BIGGER CAR BEFORE HE LEFT. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2007 SATURN AURA XR THAT WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST 2007. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY I HAD TO BRING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER IN SEPT 2007 TO INVESTIGATE "SERVICE AIR BAG" AND "ESC" WARNING LIGHTS. ADDITIONALLY, I BEGAN NOTICING THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THEY WOULD BE ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THEN WOULD GO OFF WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THIS MADE FOR VERY UNSETTLING DRIVING. I HAD TO BRING THE CAR BACK TO SATURN TWICE IN 2007 TO "FIX" THE PROBLEM BUT I HAS STARTED AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALER THAT NOW PROVIDES SERVICE FOR SATURN CUSTOMERS ON JUNE 22, 2010 TO ADDRESS THE BRAKE LIGHTS. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR TWO DAYS AND SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED" IT. WELL THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. YOU CAN REMOTE START THE CAR AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. YOU CAN TURN THE CAR ON NORMALLY,, DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE BUT FAIL TO GO OFF. THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT DOESN'T APPEAR TO WANT TO WORK CORRECTLY EITHER. I TALKED WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT SATURN AND THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD COST $1200+ TO REMOVE THE PASSENGER SEAT AND FIX THE SENSOR. ALSO THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR SENSOR THAT TELLS YOU THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED MALFUNCTIONED. WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR, IT TELLS YOU THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY CLOSED. I HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF ISSUES WITH MY 2007 SATURN AURA. I HAVE HAD MY DASH GO OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON SATURN COULDN'T FIND OUT WHY IT JUST STARTED WORKING AGAIN. I ESTIMATING AROUND 13,000 MILES I HAD TO HAVE MY THERMOSTAT REPLACED. THE CAR WENT DEAD AND WOULDN'T START HAD TO BE TOWED SATURN SAID THE BATTERY WOULDN'T HOLD A CHARGE. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THE HEATED SEATS. WHILE ON MY WAY FROM WORK AT 11PM ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY DEC 9 2007 THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT CAUGHT FIRE BURNED A HOLE ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SEAT A LITTLE BIT BIGGER THAN A QUARTER. WHILE TRYING TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY I WAS UNABLE TO SIT IN THE SEAT. WHILE I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE I DID PANIC MY REAR WAS BURNED BUT THANK GOD TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. WHEN I TURN THE HEATER OFF AND THE CAR A POLICE OFFICER WAS ON THE SCENE AND CHECKED THE CAR OVER BEFORE THE FIRE TRUCK ARRIVED. HE STATED TO THE ONSTAR HELP THAT THE FIRE DID BURN FROM THE INSIDE OUT IT DID SMELL LIKE ELECTRICAL AND THAT IT APPEARED TO HAVE SUFFOCATED OUT AFTER THE HEATER WAS TURNED OFF. SATURN COULD ONLY TELL ME THAT THE SEAT WOULD BE REPLACED AND THAT ENGINEERS WOULD BE CALLED. I THANK GOD THIS WASN'T WORSE BUT I WAS LEFT VERY TRAUMATIZED AND TRIED TO SPEAK TO THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP BUT HE DID NOT RETURN MY CALL. INCOMPATIBILITY OF ON-BOARD GARAGE OPENER SYSTEM WITH MY GARAGE DOOR, RESULTING IN BEING ASKED TO BUY A $38.00 CONVERTER KIT FROM LEAR. LATER, THROUGH THE INTERVENTION OF A FRIEND WHO IS A GM PLANT MANAGER, HE WAS ABLE TO GET MY $38.00 CREDITED TO MY CARD. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT IT TOOK HIS INTERVENTION TO GET THIS PROBLEM SOLVED. THE DEALER HAD NO FIX (NOT EVEN AN EXPLANATION) FOR WHY THE IN-CAR UNIT WOULDN'T WORK, BUT INSTEAD REFERRED ME TO A LEAR 800 NUMBER, WHERE I BOUGHT THE CONVERTER UNIT. PERHAPS GM CAN ANNOUNCE THAT THEY WILL PROVIDE THE CONVERTER UNIT AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER IF THEY EXPERIENCE THE SAME INCOMPATIBILITY PROBLEM. *TR
