This vehicle has an electrical issue from time to time seemingly out of nowhere. There is no power steering it just shuts off sometimes it’ll stay off for an hour sometimes it’ll stay off for weeks and I can’t figure out how to fix it. It randomly fixes itself same can be said for the air conditioning And the driver side, headlight all of these electrical functions, seemingly turn themselves up or down for no apparent reason.

The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The dealer was not contacted regarding the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 167,000.

When pressing the gas pedal 2/3 of the way down the pedal got stuck causing the engine to rev high while driving forward. I had to put the car in neutral, shut the engine off and manually get the gas pedal unstuck by reaching down to the floor and pulling the pedal upwards with my hands. Also I had no floor mats in my car for the pedal to get stuck on. This has happened on multiple occasions.

2005 SATURN ION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER STATED THE KEY WOULD FREQUENTLY BECOME STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE DEALER MADE MULTIPLE REPAIR ATTEMPTS BUT, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED UNDER RECALL.

It says I have 0 I repaired recalls. I have had the powers steering fail 2x. More importantly, the ignition cylinder locks up and I can’t get my keys out. I have to wait most times after turning the car off - for 3-5 minutes through a series of clicking noises in the ignition before the key will release. It is concerning because sometimes I have to get out immediately and the keys don’t release. The car automatically locks itself and if I don’t roll the window down- I become locked out. It yesterday had a issue with ignition all together and I wonder if it’s related. I was made aware again there were many recalls on this issue and hoped to get it repaired. However it now states there are none unrepaired. I’m wondering if it is a ongoing problem with the vehicle, it’s repair parts etc and if it’s just not been addressed because it’s so old that so few are left on the road. Thank you. This is a increasing problem and a daily or every time I drive it issue now. I worry too the power steering will just go out in the interstate.

I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A CITY STREET WHEN I NOTICED MY KEY POPPED OUT OF THE IGNITION HALF WAY, I FELT MY VEHICLE LOSING POWER, I COULDN'T ACCELERATE, THERE WAS A BUS COMING UP BEHIND, I TRIED TO PUSH THE KEY BACK IN BUT WAS UNABLE TO MOVE IT, I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AND WAS LOSING POWER, MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO PULL OVER THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER, I PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW IF I WAS GOING TO GET HIT FROM BEHIND, I CONTINUED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, I HAD TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND PUT IN PARK, I WAS VERY CONFUSED AS TO HOW THIS HAPPENED, I HAD TO COMPOSE MYSELF, CALLED MY MOM AND TOLD HER WHAT HAPPENED, SHE IMMEDIATELY LOOKED ONLINE FOR ANY RECALL ISSUES AND CAME ACROSS THE GM IGNITION SWITCH RECALL FOR SATURN ION 2003-2007. MY MOM CALLED THE GM CUSTOMER SERVICE, P# 800-222-1020 AND INFORMED THEM ABOUT THE ISSUE RELATED RECALL. THEY SHOW THE RECALL WAS ADDRESSED ON THIS VEHICLE IN 2014 AND SAID NOTHING THEY CAN DO. SHE ALSO CALLED THE DEALER BOUCHER CHEVROLET OF WAUKESHA, P# 262-347-4107, WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO LOOK AT IT AND SEE IF SAME ISSUE OTHERWISE WE WILL GET CHARGED FOR FIXING IT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BERGSTROM CHEVROLET IN MADISON, WI WHERE THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $100.00 FOR FIXING IT EVEN IT RECALL RELATED ISSUE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF GETTING KILLED ON THE ROAD WHEN I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER MY VEHICLE AT HIGH SPEEDS. I HAVE TO COMMUTE TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY EVERY WEEK. THE CAR DEALERSHIP STATED THE IGNITION AND POWER STEERING MOTOR WAS REPLACED,YET, I HAVE RECEIVED NO PAPERWORK STATING THIS WAS DONE. IGNITION WAS REPLACED. IF THE POWER STEERING MOTOR WAS REPLACED, IT WENT OUT AGAIN WHILE I WAS OUT OF TOWN, HAD A GARAGE REPLACE IT ALONG WITH THE MODULE BUT IT ALSO WENT OUT. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AS PAPERWORK FROM GM STATED I SHOULD DO BUT THEY WOULDN'T HONOR IT BECAUSE IT WAS A USED PART. PREVIOUSLY, THE GAS LINES HAD TO BE REPLACED AS ONE COULD SMELL GAS EVERYWHERE AROUND THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A GM REP THAT THE CAR IS OLDER WITH A LOT OF MILEAGE AND PROBLEMS WILL HAPPEN BUT GM OFFICIALS KNEW ABOUT SOME OF THESE ISSUES WHEN THE CAR FIRST CAME OUT ... THEY DID NOTHING FOR 10 YEARS. THE POWER STEERING CONSTANTLY GOES OUT, SOMETIMES WITHOUT A WARNING OR SOMETIMES WITH CHIMES. I AM A 68-YEAR-OLD HEART PATIENT THAT HAS TO DRIVE A VEHICLE KNOWING AT ANY MOMENT THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT AND I COULD CRASH, YET, GM STATES PULL THE CAR OFF THE ROAD, TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON AND IT SHOULD BE OKAY. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I AM NOT ABLE TO STEER THIS VEHICLE WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION EVEN THOUGH GM STATES, STEERING CONTROL CAN BE MAINTAINED, AS THE VEHICLE WILL REVERT TO A MANUAL STEERING MODE, BUT WOULD REQUIRE GREATER DRIVER EFFORT AT LOW VEHICLE SPEEDS, WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN INCREASED RISK OF A CRASH. I HAD THE CAR TOWED IN TO THE GM DEALERSHIP IN OWINGS MILLS, MD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CAUSE IS BECAUSE OF THE NOTICE OF THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. THE CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I HAD TO CALL THEM SO THAT THEY COULD TELL ME THAT THE PART ISN'T AVAILABLE ANYWHERE AND I HAVE TO WAIT. KEY BECOMES STUCK IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF, APPROXIMATELY 90% OF THE TIME I DRIVE IT. WHEN THIS OCCURS, I HAVE TWO OPTIONS: ALLOW THE BATTERY TO BE DRAINED AND JUMPSTART THE NEXT TIME I USE MY CAR, OR ATTEMPT TO LOCATE THE MANUAL RELEASE INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN. I'VE HAD THE RECALL MAINTENANCE DONE ON MY CAR, AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. GM TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO HAVE THE GEAR SHIFTER ASSEMBLY REPLACED (COST TO BE PAID BY ME). IN THE MEANTIME, THEY SUGGESTED THAT I CONTINUE TO RELEASE THE KEY MANUALLY. STARTED WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH, IN THE WINTER TIME THE CAR WOULDN'T START WHEN IT WAS TOO COLD. THE SECURITY SYSTEM ICON WOULD COME ON AN I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES SO THE CAR COULD START AGAIN. THIS WENT ON FOR FEW YEARS DURING WINTER TIME. NO RECALLS BACK THEN. THEN THE POWER STEERING LIGHT STARTED COMING ON, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK MAKING IT VERY HARD TO TURN OR MANEUVER. HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY OR REGULAR STREETS. HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH IGNITION AND ELECTRICAL SINCE 2006, BUT WAS "PUT OFF" BY LOCAL SATURN DEALERSHIP ON AT LEAST 6 OCCASIONS WHEN I QUESTIONED THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM. FINALLY RECEIVED RECENT IGNITION RECALL, AND CONTACTED CHEVY DEALER TO FIX. DEALER PAID FOR RENTAL CAR UNTIL REPAIR WAS DONE (ABOUT 1 MONTH) AS INSTRUCTED BY GM CORPORATE. I ASKED DEALER ABOUT POWER STEERING RECALL AS CORPORATE HAD STATED MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN THAT RECALL AS WELL. DEALER FOUND NO HISTORY OF RECALL IN THEIR SYSTEM (CHECKED ON 2 OCCASIONS). I CALLED GM CORPORATE 3 TIMES AND WAS TOLD THE SAME STORY...MY CAR IS PART OF POWER STEERING RECALL (AS PER VIN), AND I WOULD RECEIVE MY RECALL LETTER SHORTLY. IT IS NOW JUNE, HAVE NOT RECEIVED RECALL LETTER FOR POWER STEERING. IGNITION WORKING OKAY NOW, BUT OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS STILL OCCURRING. ALERT CHIME FOR HEADLIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS DOES NOT WORK. UNABLE TO CHANGE RADIO STATION ON DIGITAL FACTORY RADIO WITH DIGITAL SCREEN TURNING OFF WHEN I ATTEMPT ANY STATION CHANGE OR PRESS ANY BUTTON ON THE RADIO. WINDOWS WERE RELATED TO DOOR MOTOR (REPLACED MYSELF, 3RD TIME FOR THIS). DEALER REFUSED TO FIX ELECTRICAL ISSUES, AND REFUSED TO PROACTIVELY FIX THE POWER STEERING IN ACCORDANCE WITH CORPORATE RECALL CAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE PAPERWORK. DEALER WAS GOING TO CHARGE ME LARGE FEE FOR FIXING ANY OF THE OTHER ISSUES EXCEPT FOR IGNITION SWITCH AND CYLINDER. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW IN DEC.2004. I HAD THE CAR @ 2 YEARS WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE IGNITION WOULD NOT RELEASE THE KEY WHEN I TRIED TO TURN OFF THE CAR. THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD NOT GO TO THE OFF POSITION NOR WOULD IT RELEASE THE KEY. I HAD TO TURN IT ON AND OFF MANY TIMES OR PUT THE CAR INTO GEAR AND BACK INTO PARK TO GET THE CAR TO OFF AND THE KEY RELEASED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE I HAD THE KEY AND THE CAR LOCK/ALARM FOB ON THE SAME RING. THIS EXPLANATION SEEMED SILLY AND EVEN WHEN I REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE RING THAT THE LOCK/ALARM, THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THEY DID REPLACE SOMETHING BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. IT IS SO FRUSTRATING AND STRESSFUL TO DEAL WITH BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GET THE KEY OUT W/O THE SYSTEM GOING OFF AND RELEASING THE KEY. NOW THE CAR HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS RECALL CAR DUE TO THE IGNITION DEFECT. I HAVE GONE TO A GM DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE ORDERED THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR BUT NO WORD ON THE FACT THAT THE KEY WILL NOT RELEASE. I HAVE ONGOING FEARS AND CONCERNS THAT UNLESS THIS KEY RELEASE PROBLEM IS ADDRESSED, THE SAFETY ISSUE WILL STILL BE THERE. MAYBE COVERED UP OR MASKED BY THE SWITCH REPLACEMENT BUT NOT COMPLETELY FIXED. KEY WOULD GET LOCKED IN IGNITION WITH ACCESSORIES ON AND NOT GO OFF. BATTERY WOULD DIE. I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP MONDAY MORNING AND WAS QUOTED A PRICE OF $390 PLUS TAX TO REPLACE THE IGNITION CYLINDER. I WAS TOLD AT THAT TIME HOW IT WOULD BE FIXED BECAUSE THEY HAVE REPLACED MANY IGNITIONS DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM. GENERAL MOTORS HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR OVER 5 YEARS (AT LEAST) AND HAS NOT ISSUED A RE-CALL NOTICE. HOW MANY CONSUMERS DOES IT TAKE TO GET THEM TO BE A RESPONSIBLE COMPANY? IT WAS ABOUT 25 F AT ABOUT 8 AM VEHICLE WOULD NOT START OR CRANK. THE PASS LOCK LIGHT CAME ON, WHICH WHEN I RESEARCHED SAID THAT I WAS STARTING WITH THE WRONG KEY. UPON MUCH MORE RESEARCH I FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE 2003-2006 ION. AFTER MANY IGNITION SWITCHES WERE REPLACED AND EVEN THE ONBOARD COMPUTER, THE SAME PROBLEM WOULD RECUR. THE BEST SOLUTION I FOUND CAME FROM AN AIRPLANE MECHANIC. BE SURE THE IGNITION IS OFF. HE SAID TO SPRAY LPS ELECTRO CONTACT CLEANER (ANY PURE ALCOHOL CONTACT CLEANER WILL WORK) INTO THE IGNITION. SATURATE IT. WAIT 10 MINUTES FOR IT TO DRY THEN SPRAY SEA FOAM DEEP CREEP PENETRANT AND LUBRICANT INTO IGNITION SWITCH. THIS WORKED FOR 2 YEARS FOR ME. IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS PAST MARCH OF 2011. I REPEATED THIS PROCESS AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM SINCE. THIS WORKS BY CLEANING OUT THE OLD STIFF LUBRICANT GM USED DURING MANUFACTURE AND PUTTING IN A LIGHTER LUBRICANT. TOTAL COST FOR BOTH SPRAYS WAS UNDER $20.

PASSLOCK MALFUNCTION DUE TO FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH CAUSES NO CRANK AND ACTIVATION OF 10 MINUTE RELEARN SEQUENCE. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW 40 DEGREES. HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR JANUARY 3RD, 2009. FREQUENCY OF OCCURRENCE HAS INCREASED, AND I'M SCARED THAT IT WILL CAUSE A CRASH IF I HAPPEN TO STALL IN TRAFFIC. THE REMEDY TO THIS SITUATION HAS BEEN DISCUSSED IN NUMEROUS TECHNICAL FORUMS ON THE INTERNET - ALL OF WHICH POINT TO REPLACEMENT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CAUSE IS THOUGHT TO BE EXCESSIVE GREASE APPLIED TO THE INTERNALS OF THE SWITCH. KEY WILL NOT RELEASE FROM MY IGNITION. IT APPEARS THAT THE IGNITION DOES NOT READ THAT THE STICK SHIFT IS ENGAGED IN PARK AND DOES NOT RELEASE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. 1. EVENTS LEADING UP TO FAILURE I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE FOR WORK. THE TIME OF DAY WAS 9AM. THE TEMPERATURE HAD BEEN HOVERING AROUND FREEZING ALL NIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE THE PREVIOUS DAY AT AROUND 9PM. I UNLOCKED MY VEHICLE USING KEYLESS ENTRY - DRIVER DOOR ONLY. I INSERTED MY KEY IN THE IGNITION, CLOSED THE DOOR, PUSHED THE CLUTCH TO THE FLOOR WHILE FASTENING MY SEATBELT. I THEN TURNED THE KEY TO THE START POSITION. THE ENGINE DID NOT START - THE STARTER DID NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. WHEN I RELEASED THE KEY, THE SECURITY LIGHT (AN AMBER "PADLOCK" ICON) STARTED FLASHING SLOWLY - ONCE PER SECOND. I THEN FOLLOWED THE RESTART PROCEDURE FOR THIS SITUATION ACCORDING TO THE OWNER MANUAL - SIMPLY WAIT UNTIL THE LIGHT STOPS FLASHING, TURN THE KEY TO LOCK, THEN RESTART. TEN MINUTES LATER, THE SECURITY LIGHT STOPPED FLASHING AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED. I THEN TURNED THE KEY TO LOCK, AND THEN RESTARTED ENGINE. 2. THE FAILURE, HOW OFTEN, ITS CONSEQUENCES: THE VEHICLE DID NOT START DUE TO A FAILURE OF, OR A MALFUNCTION OF, SOME COMPONENT OF THE FACTORY VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM. IT HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES BETWEEN THE INCIDENT DATE AND MARCH 30, 2009. IT ONLY SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OVERNIGHT HOVERS AROUND FREEZING, OR DROPS BELOW FREEZING. I HAVE A SATURN ION1. I HAVE 73,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME STARTING IT ON DAYS WHERE THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 35 DEGREES. I HAVE TO TURN THE KEY AND KEEP IT TURNED UNTIL IT CAN RUN WITHOUT ME HOLDING THE KEY AND REV THE ENGINE TO ATLEAST 3-4 RPMS. I HAVE TO DO THIS FOR 15-20 MIN. UNTIL IT CAN IDOL ON ITS OWN, BEFORE I DECIDE TO DRIVE OR THE CAR WILL NOT REMAIN ON. WHILE DRIVING IT WILL SHUT OFF. NOW IF I MAKE A SHARP TURN IT TURNS OFF. THIS PROBLEM IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. WHILE UNDER WARRANTY I HAD THE IGNITION REPLACE ONCE. TWO DAYS AFTER MOVING TO NJ FROM FL AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP. I HAVE HAD IGNITION PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN ONE OF MY KEYS LOCKS THE IGNITION, ALL OCCURRENCES WHILE TRYING TO TURN THE CAR ON, AND I HAD TO REALLY WORK AT IT TO GET THE KEY TO TURN. IT COULD TAKE UP TO 5 MINUTES OF JIGGLING THE KEY HARD BEFORE IT TURNS. THIS ENDED WHEN I STARTED USING MY OTHER KEY. WITH THIS OTHER KEY, THERE HAVE BEEN FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHEN MY CAR WOULD NOT START. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE RADIO TURNS ON BUT THERE IS ONLY A BUZZING SOUND COMING FROM THE CAR. IF I WAIT LONG ENOUGH, THE CAR WILL EVENTUALLY START. HOWEVER, I DON'T ALWAYS HAVE TIME TO WAIT. THIS HAPPENS BOTH AFTER THE CAR SITS NO MORE THAN A FEW DAYS OR AFTER HAVING DRIVEN IT THE DAY BEFORE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED AGAIN. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.

I HAVE A 2005 SATURN ION QUAD /. IN FEB OF 07 I WENT TO PARK MY CAR AND THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN OFF THE CAR NOR COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST SATURN DEALERSHIP AND THE IGNITION WAS REPLACED. IN JUNE OF 07 THIS OCCURRED AGAIN, IT WAS TOWED AND THE IGNITION WAS REPLACED. THEN IN AGAIN THE SAME THING OCCURRED IN AUG 07 AND THE IGNITION WAS REPLACED. IN JAN OF 2008, WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE, I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE IGNITION BECAUSE IT HAD STUCK ON ME SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF. THEY ONCE AGAIN REPLACED THE IGNITION. LAST WEEK I WAS 500 MILES FROM HOME AND PULLED OFF TO GET GAS AND WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF TO FUEL UP. BY THE TIME I GOT HOME I WAS ABLE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF. TWO DAYS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE CAR WAS TOWED AND THE IGNITION REPLACED. I JUST WENT OVER MY 36,000 BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE 1 YR PARTS WARRANTY, SO I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR THE REPAIR. BUT I AM STILL UPSET ABOUT A COMMON PROBLEM NOT BEING ADDRESSED BY SATURN. THEY EITHER HAVE FAULTY IGNITION PARTS OR THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM AND IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. REPLACING AN IGNITION 5 TIMES IN 18 MONTHS IS NOT NORMAL. I PULLED IT UP ON THE INTERNET AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. SO THIS SITUATION IS NOT UNIQUE TO ME. THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WILL NOT RELEASE AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. I AM FORCED TO RESTART THE CAR ABOUT 3-4 TIMES EVERY TIME I WANT TO GET OUT OF MY CAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT A PART HAD TO BE ORDERED, THAT THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN THE PART WAS RECEIVED, AND THAT IT WOULD BE COVERED. A MONTH LATER I CALLED TO "CHECK" ON THE PART AND WAS TOLD IT WAS RECEIVED THE DAY BEFORE AND THAT THE WORK COULD NOT BE COMPLETED ON A WEEKEND. I TOLD THEM I COULD NOT BE WITHOUT MY CAR AND COULD NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT UNTIL I HAD A DAY OFF OF WORK. AT THIS POINT I ASKED IF I WENT OUT OF MY WARRANTY IN THE INTERN IF IT WOULD STILL BE COVERED. I WAS TOLD THAT "SINCE THE PROBLEM WAS DOCUMENTED WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY IT WOULD BE COVERED." WHEN I WAS ABLE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT A MONTH LATER, THEY REFUSED TO COVER IT BECAUSE I WAS "OUT OF WARRANTY" AND WANT CLOSE TO $400 FOR THE FIX. THE SATURN VEHICLE IS EXPOSED TO TEMPERATURES AT OR APPROACHING 32 DEGREES F FOR SEVERAL HOURS WHEN THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING (USUALLY 6-10 HOURS.) I ATTEMPT TO START THE VEHICLE, THE IGNITION SWITCH CLICKS AND THE CAR STALLS. THE SECURITY SYSTEM KICKS IN. THE SECURITY LIGHT BLINKS AND THE ODOMETER SCREEN READS: 'SERVICE ENGINE SOON.' FUEL WILL NOT BE SENT TO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOW NOT START FOR ABOUT 8-10 MINUTES AS THE SECURITY SYSTEM RESETS. AFTER 8-10 MINUTES, THE SECURITY LIGHT WILL STOP BLINKING AND THEN GO OUT. AT 15,400 MILES THE CAR AGAIN WOULD NOT START, THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. AT 16,000 MILES THE CHIME FOR THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND THE IGNITION HOUSING WAS REPLACED. ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER (LAST WEEKEND BEFORE LEAVING TO GO OUT OF TOWN) AT 27,200 MILES THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND THE KEY WAS STUCK AGAIN. THE IGNITION HOUSING WAS REPLACED FOR THE THIRD TIME! I PURCHASED A 2005 SATURN ION WITH 32 MILES ON IT JULY 11, 2005. ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2005 WHILE DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL IN THE RAIN, THE CAR STALLED AND BEGAN TO FILL WITH WATER FROM THE FLOOR UP. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THE LEFT FRON SUNROOF DRAIN HOSE WAS PLUGGED. THEY SAID THIS CAUSED AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WHICH CAUSED THE STALL. THE SERVICE DEPT. SAID THEY CLEANED THE DRAIN HOSE AND ALL WAS OK. WELL, WE HAD A HEAVY RAIN, NOT THE FIRST SINCE 11/2005, ON AUGUST 18, 2007. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR, BUT IT STALLED RIGHT AWAY. IN ADDITION, THE FLOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS WET. THIS OCCURRED ON A SATURDAY AND BY MONDAY WHEN THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE SATURN DEALERSHIP, THERE WAS A "POND" OF WATER ON THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. IN ADDITION, THE CD PLAYER HAS BEEN REPLACED BECAUSE IT ATE CD'S. THE NEW RADIO WORKED OK FOR ABOUT 6 MONTH'S, BUT IS NOW UNABLE TO PICK UP RECEPTION TO ANY STATION. ALSO, AT ONE TIME, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BECAME JAMMED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THE LOCK ROD AND INSIDE DOOR HANDLE WERE BENT. AT THE SAME TIME WATER WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW AND THE WINDOW WAS OFF THE TRACK AND FALLING INTO THE DOOR. THIS WAS ALSO REPAIRED BY THE DEALER BECAUSE I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE AND I REGRET PURCHASING IT. I OWN A 2005 SATURN ION 1. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN LATE 2004, AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT AT ALL UNTIL THIS WINTER (2006). AGAIN WHEN I WENT OUT ANOTHER DAY TO START BY CAR AFTER MY LUNCH BREAK THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I CALLED SATURN AND REQUESTED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE, BUT AFTER 15 MINUTES THE CAR STARTED. I TOOK IT TO THE SATURN DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER (CONTROL) BODY SYSTEM. THE NEXT DAY THE ANTI THEFT LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE SWITCH IN THE IGNITION. IN JUNE THE RADIO AGAIN WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR IT WORKED AGAIN. I CALLED SATURN AGAIN TO COMPLAIN AND TOOK IT IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC AT THAT TIME THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES. 1 WEEK LATER THE RADIO AGAIN WOULD NOT WORK, SO I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT RESTARTING THE CAR SO THAT THEY COULD SEE THE PROBLEM IN ACTION. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE RADIO ONLY AND THEY WOULD REPLACE IT. A NEW RADIO HAS BEEN ORDERED BUT DURING THIS TIME THE ABS SYSTEM AGAIN CAME ON WITH A WARNING BELL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON THE SYSTEM RESET ITSELF. 2 DAYS LATER AFTER LEAVING THE STORE THE ABS LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN WITH THE BELL AND THE ANTI-THEFT LIGHT CAME ON. I RESTARTED THE CAR, BUT THE ANTI-THEFT LIGHT STAYED ON THE ENTIRE TRIP HOME. I WAS TOLD THAT IF THE LIGHT WAS ON THE CAR SHOULD NOT RUN, BUT IT DID.
