This problem has been ongoing for a while. The key gets stuck in the ignition for a while. Have to wait until it finally clicks twice. I have taken vehicle 3 different times to have this repaired. Last for a month or two and same thing starts happening again.
Car just shuts off while driving. Iginition gets stuck. Have to push button in hole on underside of ignition for key to release. Happens all the time. Constant.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Ion. The contact stated that the key would remain stuck in the ignition after turning off the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had occurred prior and was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V171000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and reached out to the dealer that performed the recall and confirmed the date that the recall was serviced. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
My gas tank is leaking a good amount of gas and is dripping all over my exhaust. Major fire risk and also my wiring has been all messed up. When my brights are on, my speakers make an unbearable screaming noise and I saw that this was an issue for many saturn ion users. There was a recall on this car for the same gas tank/pump issue years ago. Can I get this issue fixed free of charge or has the recall expired?
WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK THE KEY DOSENT WANT TO COME OUT THERES SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE IGNITION. AND THE RED AIR BAG DOSENT SHUT OFF FROM THE DASHBOARD IT STAYS RED.

I NEED TO KNOW WHY YOUR SYSTEM SHOWS NO RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE USING THE VIN NUMBER, BUT HAS (7) RECALLS IF I USE YEAR/MAKE/MODEL, THE SYSTEM SHOULD ALLOW ME TO RUN THE VIN, SEE ALL RECALLS, AND EVEN REPORT WITH PROOF IF THE RECALL IS COMPLETE, LIKE A CHECK LIST. YOUR SYSTEM IS USELESS IF THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT AGREEING TO THE RECALLS UNDER THE YEAR/MAKE/MODEL AND ASSIGNING THE RECALLS TO THE VIN TO GRANT APPROVAL TO DEALERS TO REPAIR, A DEALER WILL NOT COMPLETE A GM RECALL UNLESS GM APPROVES OF THE RECALL FOR A PARTICULAR VIN. WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, THE KEY SOMETIMES WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE TO KEEP TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL UP AND DOWN. HAVE BEEN HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH MY 2007 SATURN ION FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE RADIO WILL TURN ON AND OFF BY ITSELF AND IT'S DISPLAY PANEL FLASHES ALL KINDS OF PATTERNS, CAN'T USUALLY TELL IF IT'S ON OR OFF, SINCE THE FLASHING OCCURS EITHER WAY. THE WINDOWS WILL QUIT WORKING BUT AFTER TURNING MY CAR OFF AND ON REPEATEDLY, THEY WILL WORK AGAIN. TODAY THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL. AFTER PULLING BACK INTO THE SPOT AND TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON, THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AND I DROVE HOME. I TOLD MY DAD WHAT IT DID AND HE SAID MY SISTER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HER SATURN VUE AND SHE HAD TO HAVE HER BODY MODULE (?) REPLACED. HE SAID HERS GOT TO THE POINT THAT THE LIGHTS WOULD TURN OFF AND ON AND SOMETIMES SHE WASN'T ABLE TO START HER CAR. THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY SATURN ION'S STEERING COLUMN AND THEY REPLACED IT AND HAD TO PUT IN A NEW IGNITION ALONG WITH NEW KEYS. I KNOW MY CAR IS OLDER, BUT SINCE MY SISTER'S SATURN VUE HAD THE SAME ODD ELECTRICAL TAKE OVERS, IT MAY BE TOO COMMON OF A PROBLEM. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND HAVE A GOOD DAY. 😊

THE DEALER ALSO PROVIDED TWO KEYS THAT WERE TO BE REPROGRAMMED; HOWEVER, THEY FAILED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE KEY FOB. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN AND THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THREE LOCKSMITHS. ONE OF THE LOCKSMITHS STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOOSELY CONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO SERVICED BY (MOLLE CHEVROLET, (816) 229-8800) WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY AND RECALL TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. SATURN ION 2007 RECALL THE OTHER DAY I GOT AN ALERT ON THE DISPLAY OF MY CAR THAT STATED "PWR STRG" I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE KILLED MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN AND MYSELF. WE WERE TERRIFIED. I WAS ABLE TO GET ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY BY FORCING THE STIRRING WHEEL TO TURN. I THEN LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD TO SEE IF I HAD A LEAK OF POWER STIRRING FLUID BUT TO MY SURPRISE DID NOT FIND ANYWHERE THAT WOULD INDICATE SUCH A THING. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON TO SEE WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM THE MSG WAS GONE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME BUT BEFORE I GOT HOME THE MSG CAME BACK ON AND I HAD TO REPEAT IT ALMOST GETTING INTO A SECOND CAR ACCIDENT. I IMMEDIATELY DID RESEARCH ON WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM ONCE I GOT SAFELY HOME AND FOUND OUT THAT GM HAD RECALLED THE "POWER STEERING ELECTRIC MOTOR ASSIST" DUE TO OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I CALLED GM TO GET ASSISTANCE THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE CHARGES DUE TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER GETTING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SAME PART BACK IN 2014. I DISAGREE WITH THE DECISION THAT I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING AND PAYING FOR THE PART THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON. POWER STEERING GOING OUT FOR NO REASON AT ALL AND THEN RETURNING ONCE I START THE CAR BACK UP. I BELIEVE THEY PLACED ANOTHER DEFECTIVE STEERING MOTOR IN THE CAR AND MY FAMILIES SAFELY SHOULD NOT BE COMPROMISED FOR THIS OVER SIGHT. I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SINCE IT IS NOT SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAT IS WRONG BUT THE SAME EXACT THING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK ON 11/7/14 AND WAS INFORMED THAT TECHNICIAN THAT WORKED ON IT WAS NOT THERE AND THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK ON MONDAY (11/10). ON 11/10 I TALKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TECHNICIAN THAT WORKED ON THE CAR WAS FIRED ON 11/7 AND I COULD BRING IT BACK IN FOR THEM TO CHECK IT. THEY CHARGED THE CAR CARE CENTER "JUMP STARTED" THE VEHICLE IN A WRONGFUL MANNER AND THAT CAUSED A COMPUTER TO FAIL. I HAVE A SWORN STATEMENT THAT IT WAS NOT JUMP STARTED. 2007 SATURN ION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH RECALL ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, HE NOTICED THE REMOTE NO LONGER WORKED, WHICH WORKED PRIOR. THE NEXT PROBLEM, WAS THE KEY BEING DIFFICULT TO REMOVE FROM THE IGNITION AND SOMETIMES IT WAS DIFFICULT TO INSERT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION. OCCASIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE KEY TO OFF AND THEN ON, WHICH WOULD REQUIRE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, TO GET THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHEY THE SHAVED THE KEYS AND SAID THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. AS FOR THE REMOTE, THE DEALER COULDN'T REPROGRAM IT, AND THEY SUGGESTED, JUST BUYING A NEW ONE. THE CONSUMER SOON DISCOVERED, THE PROBLEM REMAINED THE SAME. ALSO, THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO REPLACED. THE PUMP WAS BUILT WITH PLASTIC FUEL LINES MOLDED INTO THE TOP OF THE PUMP. AT ABOUT 70,000, THE PLASTIC LINES CRACKED AT THE TOP OF THE PUMP, PROBABLY DUE TO VIBRATION. THE PROBLEM COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED, BY USING STEEL LINES CONNECTED TO THE PUMP, OR COMING OFF THE PUMP WITH A SHORT SECTION OF THE HOSE. THE FRACTURE LEAK WAS SMALL AT FIRST, BUT SMELL GAS WAS PRESENT, BUT A LEAK COULD NOT BE FOUND, UNTIL THE PRESSURE LINE CRACKED AT THE POINT IT MADE A PUDDLE UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE PUMP WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 600. HOWEVER, THE NEW PUMP WAS BUILT EXACTLY LIKE THE FAILED PUMP. *JB
MY CAR WAS IN THE GENERAL MOTORS IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT WORKED ON. THEY KEPT IT LITTLE OVER A MONTH. THEY FINALLY CALLED ME AND SAID MY CAR HAD BEEN FIXED AND THAT I COULD COME AND GET IT. I DROVE MY CAR FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN I STARTED HEAR A CLICKING NOISE IN MY IGNITION. IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN . SO THE NEXT WEEK I TOOK IT RIGHT BACK AND THEY STILL DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. SO I CONTACTED THE GENERAL MOTORS HEADQUARTERS AND THEY SUPPOSED TO HAD GOT BACK WITH ME WITHIN 24-48 HRS. WELL I DIDN'T HEAR FROM THEM UNTIL ABOUT A WEEK LATER WHEN I HAD TO CALLED THEM BACK WHILE I WAS BACK AT THE CHEVROLET SERVICE CENTER. SO THEY FINALLY CALL ME BACK AND TALKED TO ME AND THE SERVICE MANAGER. SO I WAS TOLD TO BRING MY CAR BACK TUESDAY 9\17\14 AND I DID. THEY COME TELLING ME THAT IT'S MY GEAR STICK WITHOUT PUTTING IT ON A MACHINE TO SEE WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM. MY CAR IS 7 YEARS OLD BUT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED AT N/C PART 19257875. IT APPEARS THE COMPANY KNEW OF THE PROBLEM AND HAD A PROGRAM FOR IT BUT DID NOT NOTIFY OWNERS. FRANKLY I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON I-95. I THINK THAT GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS BECAUSE IT IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH POTENTIAL SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES AND SAFETY ISSUES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO SOMEONE LEAVING A RUNNING CAR IN A CLOSED GARAGE BECAUSE UNLIKE ME, THEY COULD NOT FIND A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR OR ALTERNATIVELY BATTERY REMOVAL COULD DAMAGE THE COMPUTER SYSTEMS OR A SPARK CAUSED BY UNEDUCATED REMOVAL OF THE BATTERY COULD CAUSE A BATTERY EXPLOSION OR ELECTRICAL FIRE. THEN, IN MARCH 2011, I FOUND THE KEY HAD A TENDENCY TO GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION UNTIL, ONCE AGAIN, I COULD NO LONGER REMOVE THE KEY OR TURN THE CAR OFF. RECALLING REMOVAL OF A FUSE AFTER THE FIRST INSTANCE, I DID SO AGAIN IN THIS CASE UNTIL I COULD GET IT TO A GARAGE FOR REPAIR. I CONTACTED SATURN'S 800# TO ADVISE THEM AS TO WHAT HAD AGAIN HAPPENED, INQUIRING IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY SORT OF A RECALL. I WAS ADVISED THERE WAS NOT. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY OWN GARAGE FOR REPAIR AND THEY HAD TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE IGNITION CYLINDER & SWITCH. HOWEVER, THEY WERE ABLE TO DISLODGE THE KEY THIS TIME. FORTUNATELY, AT THE TIME, THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. IF I WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR THROUGH THE DEALER, THE COST WOULD HAVE BEEN IN EXCESS OF $500.00. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE, NOW, A YEAR LATER AND AFTER THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, IT IS DISPLAYING THE SAME SYMPTOMS (DIFFICULTY REMOVING KEY FROM IGNITION AFTER SHUTTING ENGINE OFF) AS WERE EXPERIENCED BEFORE THE IGNITION LOCK ASSEMBLY FAILED LAST TIME. THIS PROBLEM, AFTER MUCH ON-LINE RESEARCH, IS AN ISSUE WITH SATURNS FROM 2005-2007. AS MOST INDIVIDUALS NOTED THAT THEY EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM, SIX MONTHS OR MORE AFTER REPLACING THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER, THROUGH THEIR DEALERSHIP. MECHANICS ARE NOTING THAT THE ASSEMBLY IS FAULTY, IN THAT EACH TIME THE KEY IS TURNED SMALL BITS OF METAL FROM THE KEY ARE FLAKING OFF INTO THE ASSEMBLY, CAUSING IT TO LOCK UP, TYPICALLY IN THE ON POSITION. THANKFULLY, FOR ME, THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED CLOSE TO HOME. THIS VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR I AM AGAIN ANTICIPATING WILL TAKE REPLACEMENT OF THE IGNITION LOCK ASSEMBLY. THIS IS SOMETHING I WILL BE DOING MYSELF OR SEEKING THE SERVICES OF A 'SHADE TREE' MECHANIC, AS I DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A GM DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. GIVEN THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS LISTED ON-LINE THROUGH EDMONDS AND OTHER CONSUMER COMPLAINT SITES, I FEEL THAT GM SHOULD BE TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAULTY PARTS AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THE FOLLOWING EVENT OCCURRED ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2010 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45 P.M. WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 SATURN ION. I DROVE TO THE SERVICE STATION FOR GAS. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN OFF MY CAR, THE KEY WOULD NOT BUDGE. THE IGNITION WAS LOCKED. I CALLED THE SATURN DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED, BUT I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE MY CAR THERE AND SOMEONE WOULD DISABLE MY CAR. THE BATTERY CABLES HAD TO BE DISCONNECTED TO TURN OFF THE CAR. IN ORDER TO REPAIR MY CAR, THE WHOLE IGNITION HAD TO BE REPLACED. I BOUGHT MY CAR A YEAR AGO-BRAND NEW. TWO DAYS AGO I PULLED UP TO WORK AND WENT TO TURN MY CAR OFF. THE KEY WOULD NOT COMPLETELY TURN ALL THE WAY AND WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE WHEEL WAS NOT LOCKED, SO THIS WAS NOT THE CAUSE. IT HAS BEEN THREE DAYS NOW AND IT CONTINUES TO OCCUR. IT IS ON AND OFF, BUT THE FACT REMAINS THAT THERE IS A CLEAR ISSUE. I EVEN WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. APPARENTLY SO. I FOUND NUMEROUS FORUMS AND COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE PURCHASED THE SAME MODEL CAR AND HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THEY ALSO STATED THAT WHEN CONTACTING THE DEALER, THEY ALREADY KNEW AND WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE EXACT ISSUE. CLEARLY THIS IS A DEFECT AND I HAVE NOT BOTHERED TAKING THE CAR IN BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN CHARGED UPWARDS OF $300 AND THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED. *TR
MY KEY BECAME LOCKED IN THE IGNITION WHILE MY SATURN ION2 WAS ENGAGED. NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED, THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN TO SHUT THE CAR OFF. I DROVE TO A MECHANIC AND HE ALSO HAD NO IDEA HOW TO DISENGAGE MY CAR. I THEN DROVE A NEARBY SATURN DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY FAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM AND INFORMED ME THAT THIS KIND OF MALFUNCTION HAPPENED OFTEN IN SATURN IONS. HE INFORMED ME THAT THE ONLY WAY TO DISENGAGE THE CAR WHEN THE KEY IS LOCKED IS TO OPEN THE HOOD OF THE CAR (WHILE IT IS RUNNING) AND DISCONNECT THE MAIN FUSE FROM THE BATTERY. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS A TENDENCY OF RECURRING BECAUSE THE IGNITION PART IS DEFECTIVE. THE SATURN MECHANIC FIXED THE IGNITION LOCK WHICH COST A TOTAL OF 330$ INCLUDING PART AND LABOR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY INSTALLED A WIRE FROM THE HYBRID BATTERY TO THE GENERATOR. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES.
