Recall bulletin #06074a ,timing chain engine stall. I called gm,and gm arbitration and they said I have no recallcs. This car only has 28,700 miles on it!! My Vin fits the criteria of the recall,and I went to the dealership and they confirmed it,but GM does not acknowledge it! page 4, dealer recall responsibility-all. 2nd paragraph Dealers are to service All vehicals subject to this recall, regardless of milage,age of vehical,vehicle, ownership as of Jan ,2008. I'm the 2nd owner,and there is no documentation that this recall was preformed, 2 others were repaired. I have the car fax for this vehicle. My repair shop said it will cost @ $ 1000.00 to repair it. I'd be happy with a repair or a restoration check from Gm. I started a "Gm service request claim" # 9-7361453168. They never called me back,they canceled/ closed the request and did not approve the recall!! I'm at a loss at what to do at this point.Any help would be appreciated! Thankyou,Charlie

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 SATURN LS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE AIR BAG AND THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE AIR BAG WAS REMOVED AND NOT REPLACED WITH ANOTHER. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN OF THE LOCATION OF THE AIR BAG THAT WAS REMOVED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIR. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE OIL LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. CAR IS 2001 SATURN L200 WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES AND THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AS THE CAR WAS PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY. MY VIN IS NOT COVERED BY THE TIMING CHAIN RECALL ISSUED BY GM, SO I NOW HAVE A COMPLETELY UNUSABLE CAR WHICH IS RATED IN GOOD CONDITION OTHER THAN THE TIMING CHAIN UNLESS I WANT TO SPEND THE 1000 PLUS TO FIX IT. GM/NHTSA ISSUED RECALL NUMBER 07V519000 FOR OTHER SIMILAR SATURNS IN YEAR AND MODEL FOR THE TIMING CHAIN, WHY NOT ALL OF THEM IN THE SAME YEARS? AFTER SPEAKING WITH GM AND RESEARCHING THE PART NUMBER, MY CHAIN WAS BUILT IN THE SAME WILMINGTON DELAWARE PLANT WITH THE MANUFACTURE DEFAULT DIAGNOSIS AS THE OTHER RECALLED TIMING CHAINS BELONGING TO OTHER 2001, 2002, 2003 SATURN L SERIES CARS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A COVERED RECALL FOR THIS CAR AS WELL AS THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE WITH THESE CHAINS BREAKING IN THE CARS- THANK GOODNESS I WAS ONLY PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY WHEN IT BROKE RATHER THAN DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD. I HAVE EXPERIENCED VARIOUS PROBLEMS THAT DIRECTLY CORRELATE TO THE RECALL LISTED BELOW: RECALL 07V519000-PERTAINING TO ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING POTENTIAL NUMBER OF UNITS AFFECTED: 20,514 SUMMARY: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.2L 4-CYLINDER ENGINE, LINKS IN THE ENGINE'S TIMING CHAIN CAN SEPARATE. CONSEQUENCE: IF A TIMING CHAIN LINK SEPARATES WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND WILL NOT RESTART INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2001 SATURN L-200 SERIES WITH ONLY 75K ORIGINAL MILES. BEST RUNNING VEHICLE I HAD COME ACROSS IN ALONG TIME. I HAD THE CAR A LITTLE UNDER A YEAR AND THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED AT 78K. THIS WAS A HORRIFIC INCIDENT BEING THAT I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHEN IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND WOULD NOT RESTART. I EXAMINED ENGINE FOUND TIMING CHAIN TO BE BROKEN. 4 BENT VALVES, CYL 2 BOTH INTAKE & CYL 4 BOTH EXHAUST VALVES. CYL 2 & 4 PISTONS HAD HEAVY IMPACT MARKS, CYL 1 PISTON HAD LIGHT IMPACT MARKS, FROM THE VALVES HITTING THEM. PARTS REPLACED UPDATED TIMING CHAIN KIT, BALANCE SHAFT CHAIN, TENSIONER & GEARS WATER PUMP & THERMOSTAT CYLINDER HEAD GASKET UPPER KIT CYLINDER HEAD BOLT SET TIMING COVER GASKET KIT DRIVE BELT TENSIONER & DRIVE BELT SPARK PLUGS 4 COST TO REPAIR APROX: $2700 PARTS & LABOR EXAMINATION OF THE PARTS REMOVED SHOW'S THE OILER FOR THE TIMING CHAIN TO BE OF SIGNIFICANTLY SMALLER SIZE THAN THE UPDATED CHAIN OILER IN THE NEW UPDATED TIMING CHAIN KIT. A STRANGE NOISE SOUNDED WHEN I CRANKED THE CAR TO RETURN HOME FROM THE LAKE WALES MEDICAL CENTER (LOCATED ABOUT 15 MILES FROM MY HOME) AFTER THE CAR IDLED FOR A FEW MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. WHEN I DROVE IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP THE NOISE GOT MUCH LOUDER. THE REPAIRMAN DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS NOISE FROM TING AREA DUE TO TENSIONER PULLEY BEARINGS; TIMING HAD JUMPED CAUSING INTERNAL VALVE DAMAGE. THE TIMING CHAIN IS LOOSE AND SLAPPING THE ENGINE. THERE HAD BEEN NOISE INTERMITTENTLY COMING FROM THE ENGINE FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS. UPON REPAIR, THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND TENSION ROD PULLEY SYSTEM. THAT MADE THE PROBLEM WORSE AND THEN THEY FOUND THAT IT WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE. THE TIMING CHAIN BEHIND THE MOTOR IS LOOSE AND SLAPPING THE ENGINE CREATING THE NOISE. THE MECHANIC FOUND THE RECALL ON THE TIMING CHAIN WHEN TRYING TO ORDER IT. HEARD THIS STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM MY ENGINE...NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS. DROVE A LITTLE ORE ABOUT A MILE AD THE NOISE GOT LOUDER DECIDED TO PULL OVER, SHUT OFF MY CAR. TRIED TO TURN IT BACK OVER TO SEE IF THE NOISE CONTINUED AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. HAD MY CAR TOWED TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN (BELT). $1000.00 BILL. I FIND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON CERTAIN VIN'S AND HUNDREDS MORE AFTER THAT COMPLAINED AND NOTHING IS DONE. THAT'S CRAP! I AM THE SECOND OWNER...THE CAR HAS ONLY 100,000 ON A CAR THAT IS 11 YEARS OLD. I HAVE MY OIL CHANGED EVERY 3000 MILES AND SERVICED ALL THE TIME. I WAS GOING TO MY PART TIME JOB ON SUNDAY AND MY CAR "SHUT OFF" ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED BY A SEMI AND SIDSWIPED BY ANOTHER CAR TRYING TO GET TO THE SHOULDER MY HAZARDS WHERE ON. I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND THEY INFORMED ME IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN AND THE UPPER END OF THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REBUILT/REPLACED. THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AND THOSE YEAR SATURNS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE TIMING CHAINS. I HAVE SINCE LOST MY JOB AND QUICKLY APROACHING EVICTION THE ONLY REASON IAM NOT HOMELESS IS BECAUSE MY PRIMARY JOB IS 6.8 MILES AWAY BIKING DISTANCE .I STILL OWE MONEY ON THE CAR SO IAM NOW PAYING $5,000 FOR A CAR THAT NEEDS $2,000 REPAIR I CANNOT AFFORD.
