Rear tail lights will not work. Have checked all fuses relays,and even changed the turn signal switch. My car is currently at the garage. Original appointment was only for inspection. Mechanic has not yet located the issue. Also has no dash lights. Parking lights. Had I known this in advance would have returned car immediately.

The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V245000 (Exterior Lighting), however, the part to do the recall repair is no longer being manufactured. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

TAKATA RECALL VEHICLE IN PARK WHEN STARTED. LIGHTS DIM AN GO BRIGHT ON DASH. FAN GOES ON WHEN MOTOR NOT HOT. WHEN FAN GOES ON AND CAR IS BEING DRIVEN CAR WILL JUMP WHEN CAR SHIFTS GEARS. I ONLY CAN DRIVE ON SIDE ROADS. TO NERVOUS TO GO ON HIGHWAY NOW. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN COOLING FAN IS ON. I HAVE SEEN LOTS OF REPORTS THAT PEOPLE POST OF OTHER CARS LIKE MINE HAVING SAME ISSUES. WAS TOLD THEY REPORTED IT. NOTHING WAS DONE. SERIOUSLY THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. SHOULDN'T MATTER WERE THE CAR WAS MADE. PARTS ARE THE SAME. I HAVEN'T BROUGHT IT IN SINCE 2017. I DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR REPAIRS OR FIX IT IF IT'S THE MANUFACTURS FAULTY PARTS. I'VE ALREADY PUT 1400 DOLLARS FOR REPLACEMENT OF FUEL PUMP AN OTHER PARTS. AN THIS PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I LOST POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND AT FULL THROTTLE THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION. IT MADE A LOUD BOOM LIKE A BACKFIRE AND A LARGE PIECE OF MATERIAL THAT LOOKED FIBERGLASS MATTING AND ROCKS BLEW OUT OF THE EXHAUST. THE CAR ACCELERATED FINE FOR ABOUT 15 MILES THEN STARTED TO BOG DOWN AGAIN. SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND TRIED TO RESTART UNSUCCESSFUL, WAITED A FEW HOURS THEN CAR RESTARTED WITH NO ISSUES RAN VEHICLE OFF AND ON OVER A THREE DAY PERIOD, THAT IS WHEN IT STARTED MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN WITH VERY ROUGH IDLE, ALMOST DIES, EXTREME LOSS OF POWER W/ALMOST NO ACCELERATION AT FULL THROTTLE. CONTACTED MECHANIC THE VEHICLE RESONATOR WAS EXPANDED TO THE POINT OF SPLITTING THE SEAM, HE REMOVED THE RESONATOR TO FIND ALL THE FIBER PACKING GONE AND THE RESONATOR PACKED WITH WHAT LOOKED LIKE ROCKS. HE STATED THE BITS THAT LOOKED LIKE ROCKS WERE PART OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER PACKING THAT HAD BEEN HEATED ABOVE THE LIMITS OF THE MATERIAL. THE DISINTEGRATED MATERIAL MADE A BLOCKAGE IN THE RESONATOR NOT ALLOWING THE EXHAUST GASSES TO FLOW HE CHECKED FOR TSB'S AND RECALL CAMPAIGNS AND FOUND CAMP # 03V231000 ACTION # 03033 RECALL # 03-C-06 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IGNITION CONTROL MODULE) AND CAMP # 07V519000 ACTION # EA06009 RECALL # 06074. (ENG. TIMING CHAIN) CALLED GM RECALL CENTER GIVEN CASE #8-2430110427 PER BRANDY SHE IS GETTING MANY CALLS ON THIS, SHE SHOWS ONLY THE RECALL 03-C-06 ONLY AND SHE IS TO DENY ANY ADDITIONAL CLAIMS EVEN THOUGH THEY REPLACED THE PART WITH THE SAME PART THAT WAS RECALLED TO BEGIN WITH. INVESTIGATED RECALL # 06074 AND FOUND THAT DID NOT INCLUDE THE 2002 SATURN L SERIES HOWEVER PER MY MECHANIC BOTH RECALLS ARE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WITH THE OUTSTANDING ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE 2002 SATURN L SERIES SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD AND IT SHOULDN'T TAKE AN ACCIDENT OR A DEATH BEFORE YOU PEOPLE DECIDE TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES.

WITH THE RECALL OF SATURN ION IN THE NEWS, I'VE BEEN INCREASINGLY WORRIED ABOUT MY 2002 SATURN LW200. EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT THE MODEL OR YEAR IN THE CURRENT RECALL, THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM IS ONE THAT I'VE BEEN WORKING AROUND FOR YEARS. I DON'T RECALL WHEN I DISCOVERED THE IGNITION PROBLEM, BUT WHAT I RECALL IS THAT IT WAS PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD, AND IT WASN'T SOMETHING I COULD AFFORD TO HAVE REPAIRED. MY KNEE ACCIDENTALLY KNOCKED MY KEYCHAIN WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING, AND IT FELL OUT OF THE IGNITION. I WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, IDLING. THE IGNITION REMAINED IN THE RUN POSITION. I WAS ABLE TO RECOVER MY KEYS AND RE-INSERT THE IGNITION KEY INTO THE IGNITION. I AM ALWAYS CONSCIOUS OF MY KEYS, AND MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO NOT TOUCH THEM WHILE DRIVING. ALSO SINCE FIRST PURCHASING THE CAR, THE AIRBAG ERROR LIGHT DISPLAYS WHEN I RESTART MY CAR AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION, BUT KEEPING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SLOT. THIS IS A FREQUENT OCCURRENCE AS I TURN THE ENGINE OFF FOR FREIGHT TRAIN CROSSINGS AND WHILE WAITING FOR MY CHILDREN AT SCHOOL PICK UP. I THOUGHT THE ERROR WAS JUST A QUIRK THAT NEEDED RESETTING BY REMOVING THE KEY. SO, AS A WORKAROUND, WHEN I TURN THE ENGINE OFF, I REMOVE THE KEY COMPLETELY AND REINSERT IT TO AVOID THE AIRBAG ERROR. I OWN A 2002 SATURN L 300 6 CYLINDER 3.0 ENGINE CAR. IN JUNE 2010 I HAD A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE WITHMY CAR (REDUCED POWER, CHECK ENGINE, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS). I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. I PURCHASED THE THROTTLE BODY FROM GM DIRECTLY AND HAD IT INSTALLED AT AN OUTSIDE MECHANIC. NOT KNOWING THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND COMPUTER PROGRAMMING ISSUES AROUND THIS CAR, I LET THE OUTSIDE MECHANIC DO THE INSTALLATION NOT KNOW ALL THE COMPUTER PROGRAMMING ISSUES AROUND THIS PART. ABOUT A MONTH OR SO LATER I CONTINUED TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE SAME ERROR MESSAGES, BUT THIS TIME I BROUGHT IT TO GM, WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED A WIRING ISSUE. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD IT BACK TO GM 5 MORE TIMES REPLACING THE ENTIRE WIRING TO THE THROTTLE BODY, THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE, AND ON MAY 2, 2011 ANOTHER TRIP TO HAVE THE COMPUTER RE-PROGRAMMED TO SYNC THE NEW ECM TO THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS PAST WEEK I BEGAN GETTING AN ERROR MESSAGE (SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT) FOR THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. I CALLED GM DIRECTLY AND OPENED A COMPLAINT CASE NUMBER AND BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TOT HE GM DEALER NOW FOR THE 6TH TIME. THE PRIOR VISITS TO GM THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY WON'T HONOR ANY GUARANTEES BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT WAS DONE AT AN OUTSIDE MECHANIC SHOP. I CAN SEE THAT HOLDING WEIGHT THE FIRST OR SECOND VISIT BACK TO GM, BUT NOW THIS IS THE 6TH VISIT BACK AND THEY STILL HAVE YET TO COMPLETELY FIX THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES ON MY CAR. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE, JUST A FUSE LIGHT. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, SHE WAS INFORMED IT WAS SIMPLY A GLITCH AND IT WOULD GO OUT BY ITSELF. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE CONSUMER WENT TO TWO OTHER MECHANICS AND WAS INFORMED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS BAD. UPDATED 09/06/11

I HAVE DISCOVERED THE CAUSE OF THE EXTREMELY HIGH FAILURE RATE IN THE BCM'S IN THE SATURN L-SERIES SEDANS. IN AN INVESTIGATION TO FIND THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE FAILURE OF THE BCM, WE PULLED THE BCM OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND PERFORMED ELECTRICAL TESTS ON THE UNIT TO DETERMINE THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEMS WE WERE EXPERIENCING. THE ROOT CAUSE TURNS OUT TO BE MICROSCOPIC FRACTURES IN THE SOLDER JOINTS ON THE HEADER CONNECTOR BETWEEN THE BCM AND THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS. THESE FRACTURES ARE BELIEVED TO BE CAUSED BY IMPROPER MOUNTING OF THE HEADER CONNECTOR TO THE MAIN BOARD OF THE BCM. AS THE MANUFACTURE OF THE HEADER CONNECTOR HAS PROVIDED STRAIN RELIEF MOUNTING POINTS ON THE CONNECTOR TO KEEP IT WELL MOUNTED TO THE BOARD SO VIBRATION WILL NOT AFFECT THE JOINTS TO ALL OF THE PINS. SATURN HAS FAILED TO USE THESE MOUNT POINTS AND HAS OPTED TO NOT USE ANY MECHANICAL DEVICE OR BOLTS TO SECURE THE HEADER CONNECTOR TO THE MAINBOARD AT ALL. THIS ULTIMATELY LEADS TO THE VIBRATION CAUSED MICRO FRACTURES IN THE PIN SOLDER JOINTS CAUSING INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL OPENS TO THE MAINBOARD ON THE HEADER PINS.THE ULTIMATE SAFETY COMPLAINT COMES INTO PLAY WHEN THE BCM STOPS DISPLAYING INFORMATION ON THE DASH (I.E. ALL OF THE DASH GAUGES GO DEAD), THE DRIVER HAS NO IDEA OF WHAT SPEED THEY ARE DOING, NOR IF ANY OF THE SAFETY SYSTEMS IN THE VEHICLE ARE WORKING AT ALL. THE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER THAT SIGNED OFF ON THE PLANS FOR THIS DESIGN SHOULD HAVE AN ETHICS VIOLATION COMPLAINT FILED AS WELL, FOR KNOWINGLY ALLOWING THIS TYPE OF PRODUCT TO GO INTO FULL PRODUCTION PUTTING THE GENERAL PUBLIC SAFETY INTO QUESTION. *TR

THE OIL AND ANTIFREEZE HAVE A COMMON WALL IN THE RADIATOR. THE ANTIFREEZE IS CORROSIVE AND ATE THRU ALLOWING THE OIL AND ANTIFREEZE TO MIX IN THE ENGINE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO BE COMPLETELY REBUILT WITH MOST PARTS REPLACED. THE TEMP GAUGE HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES AS THE ENGINE RUNS COOL AND WILL FAIL INSPECTION AND DESTROY THE O2 SENSORS. THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAS GONE OUT 2 TIMES AS WELL AS THE AC COMPRESSOR. THE REAR LIGHTS ON THE DRIVER SIDE ARE ALWAYS GETTING HOT AND BURNING OUT. THE TAILLIGHT FITTINGS FOR THE STOP LIGHT HAVE GOTTEN SO HOT THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED 3 TIMES. DASH LIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY FLICKERING WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKE OR (WHEN IT IS RUNNING) TURN ON THE AC UNIT OR THE HEATING SYSTEM. THE SAFETY LATCH ON THE FRONT DOORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES AS THEY WERE CRACKING. I PAID FOR ALL OF THE REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL BASED ON THE ANTIFREEZE THAT GM USED AS IT WAS CORROSIVE AND AFFECTED MANY MODELS OF GM CARS. I FILLED IN ALL OF THE FORMS FOR THE CLASS ACTION SUIT AND AT THE END I WAS TOLD THAT THE SATURNS WERE NOT COVERED - THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAD ALLOWED THIS CLASS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE GM CLAIM. THIS WAS NOT FAIR AS IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM CAUSED BY THE CORROSIVE ANTIFREEZE USED BY GM AND THE POOR DESIGN OF USING A COMMON THIN WALL TO SEPARATE THE OIL AND THE ANTIFREEZE. *TR

STATED THEY BURN OUT WITH NO WAY TO CHECK THEM OR FIX THEM. HE SAID THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TOFIX THE CAR. BUT THEY DO NOT KEEP ANY BCM IN STOCK. IT WILL BE A WEEK BEFORE THEY CAN GET THE PART. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 SATURN L200. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 SATURN L300. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ILLUMINATED. WHILE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE AT JIFFY LUBE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL HOUSING SCREW WAS LOOSE AND THE FILTER COULD NOT BE CHANGED. I HAVE A 2002 SATURN L-100. WHEN THE LIGHT SWITCH IS IN THE AUTOMATIC POSITION THE HEADLIGHTS, INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS FLASH INTERMITTENTLY BUT QUITE FREQUENTLY. WHEN THEY FLASH THE FUEL AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES GO BACK AND FORTH AS IF THEY LOSE POWER AND RE-GAIN IT. WHEN THE GAUGES LOSE POWER AND CONTINUE TO LAY DOWN, THE SHIFT LEVER CANNOT BE MOVED FROM THE PARK POSITION UNTIL THEY RECEIVE POWER AGAIN. BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD START AFTER MAKING A NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS, IT WAS DRIVABLE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE AIRBAG SENSOR WAS TRIPPED WHICH COULD CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY(ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL) CAUSING AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. 2. MY 2002 SATURN L300 DIED WITHOUT WARNING OR INDICATION IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY TRAFFIC INTERSECTION AND WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR FLATBED TOWED TO MY SERVICE CENTER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A DEFECTIVE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. THE DEALER, SATURN OF COOL SPRINGS, ACKNOWLEDGED THEY HAVE SEEN AN INCREASING NUMBER OF BAD ENGINE CONTROL MODULES ON THE L SERIES. THEY DID NOT OFFER TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENT FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. AFTER MY INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER INSTALLED THE NEW ENGINE CONTROL MODULE, THE CAR WAS STILL INOPERABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO SATURN OF COOL SPRING SO THEY COULD PROGRAM THE NEW ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AND THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. I AM CONCERNED THAT WITHOUT ANY PRIOR INDICATION OF A PROBLEM THE CAR COULD HAVE DIED ON RAILROAD TRACKS OR IN SOME OTHER MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL, # 05V245000 CONCERNING THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING THAT WAS PERFORMED HOWEVER; NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS EVOLVED SINCE THE REPAIR. THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. ALTHOUGH THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF THE HEADLIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHICH RESULTED IN A BATTERY FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS SEEN BY A DEALER AND THE HEADLIGHT HIGH/LOW BEAM DIMMER SWITCH WAS REPLACED, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER WHICH DETERMINED THERE WAS A FAILURE OF THE DRIVE SHAFT AND THIS WAS REPLACED. THE ONGOING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO AWAIT FURTHER INSPECTION.

I DID NOTHING WRONG WHEN CHANGING THE BATTERY, AND THE CAR WAS FINE BEFORE. AC DELCO 78-6YR (FALSE LABELING) IS OWNED BY GM AND THEIR LEAKY SIDE-TERMINAL BATTERIES ARE A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THESE BATTERIES AND SATURN'S BCM UNITS ARE DESIGNED TO FAIL AND GENERATE PROFIT. AS AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW CHANGING A BATTERY CAN KILL A MODULE LIKE THIS. I AM 56 AND HAVE REPLACED MANY BATTERIES, ALL CORRECTLY. I HAVE FOUND MANY CASES LIKE THIS ON THE INTERNET. IN SOME CASES THE CARS STOP DEAD IN THEIR TRACKS DUE TO AC DELCO SIDE-TERMINAL BATTERIES. I DID NOTHING WRONG WHEN CHANGING THE BATTERY, AND THE CAR WAS FINE BEFORE. AC DELCO 78-6YR (FALSE LABELING) IS OWNED BY GM AND THEIR LEAKY SIDE-TERMINAL BATTERIES ARE A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THESE BATTERIES AND SATURN'S BCM UNITS ARE DESIGNED TO FAIL AND GENERATE PROFIT. AS AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW CHANGING A BATTERY CAN KILL A MODULE LIKE THIS. I AM 56 AND HAVE REPLACED MANY BATTERIES, ALL CORRECTLY. I HAVE FOUND MANY CASES LIKE THIS ON THE INTERNET. IN SOME CASES THE CARS STOP DEAD IN THEIR TRACKS DUE TO AC DELCO SIDE-TERMINAL BATTERIES. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT INTO THE SATURN DALERSHIP IN DEC 2003 TO FIX A RECALL ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION: MODULE. THE RECALL ON OUR VEHICLE WAS CLOSED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT SHOWN ANY PROBLEMS SINCE THAT TIME UNTIL RECENTLY, MARCH 2, 2005. I WENT TO START THE CAR ON THE 2ND OF MARCH AND THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO START. ONCE STARTED, THE CAR RAN VERY ROUGH AND LOST POWER WHEN I TRIED TO GIVE IT GAS. WHEN MY HUSBAND TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR LATER, THE CAR BACKFIRED AND SEEMED TO BE MISSING. WE HAD OUR MECHANIC COME LOOK AT INITIALLY THAT NIGHT, AND HE ASKED US TO BRING THE CAR TO HIS SHOP. ALTHOUGH WE WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE IT VERY SLOW, HE DIDN'T SEE ANY REASON WHY THE CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN TO THE SHOP INSTEAD OF HAVING IT TOWED. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP AND EN ROUTE, THE CAR LOST POWER, THE BRAKES WENT OUT, IT THEN BEGAN TO SMOKE SO MUCH MY HUSBAND COULD BARELY SEE. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND BRING IT TO A STOP WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. AFTER STOPPING THE CAR ALL HE COULD DO WAS GET OUT AND RUN BEFORE THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE RECALL ON THE CAR AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT FIXING THE RECALLED PARTS READS LIKE A BOOK OF THE EVENTS THAT OCCURED. RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT A DEFECT RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY-FAILURE OF IGNITION CONTROL MODULE THAT MAY CAUSE DETERIORATION IN IDLE QUALITY, REDUCTION IN OVERALL ENGINE POWER AND THE VEHICLE MAY BE HARD TO START.CONTINUED OPERATION AFTER SUCH FAILURE MAY LEAD TO SECONDARY FAILURES OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, OXYGEN SENSOR AND EXHAUST RESONATOR. FAILURE OF RESONATOR FAILURE MAY LEAD TO AN UNDERCAR FIRE WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THE COMPANY STATES IN THE JULY 2003 LETTER, THAT PARTS AVAILABILITY IS NOT SUFFICIENT TO PERFORM REPLACEMENTS AT THIS TIME. PROBLEM: I HAVE HAD THE ABOVE SITUATION TAKE PLACE TWICE SINCE I HAD THE CAR. IT STARTS OUT WITH A ROUGH IDLE ESPECIALLY DURING DAMP AND/OR COLD DAYS. THE POWER OF THE VEHICLE IS EXTREME. IT EITHER SEEMS TO BE GASPING FOR FUEL ETC. HORN FAILED TO OPERATE. I CHECKED THE FUSE AND HORN RELAY. I INSPECTED THE HORN ASSEMBLY ITSELF. I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND THAT IT WAS MOUNTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT SPOILER. IN THIS LOCATION IT IS SUBJECT TO ROAD DIRT AND WATER. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A SATURN DEALER IN LYNBROOK NY, THEY AGREED THAT IT WAS A POOR LOCATION FOR THE HORN. THEY SAID OTHER L SERIES CAR OWNERS HAD THE HORN FAIL PREMATURELY. THE L SERIES HAS MUCH ROOM IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND FRONT BODY TO LOCATE THE HORN. THE SATURN DEALER REPLACED THE HORN AND WIRING CONNECTOR. BUT THEY DID NOT RELOCATE THE HORN. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THE HORN SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR IS THAT I HAVE TO PRESS THE HORN PAD VERY HARD UNLESS I PRESS IT ON THE ONE OF THE TWO HORN SHAPED INDENTS. THESE INDENTS ARE THE SAME COLOR AS THE AIRBAG COVER, VERY SMALL AND HARD TO FEEL AND LOCATE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. MANY TIMES I HAVE WENT TO BLOW THE HORN AND IT DID NOT WORK BECAUSE I HAVE NOT PRESSED IT HARD ENOUGH. ALL THE SATURN PEOPLE I HAVE SPOKEN WITH SAY THAT IT IS BECAUSE OF THE AIR BAG. HOWEVER I HAVE DRIVEN VEHICLES THAT HAVE AIRBAGS AND THE HORN IS MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE. SOME CARS HAVE HORN BUTTONS AND SOME HAVE A MUCH THINNER OR FLEXIBLE COVER FOR A HORN PAD. SOME HAVE AN AIRBAG ASSEMBLY THAT MOVES INWARD WHEN YOU PRESS IT TO ACTIVATE THE HORN. I BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE SOME MODIFICATION MADE TO MAKE THE HORN MORE RESPONSIVE. THANK YOU. DT

WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS DIM 40-50% WHEN THE COOLING FAN KICKS ON. MY DRIVE TO WORK IN THE MORNING IS 16 MILES AND THE LIGHTS FLASH SOMETIMES 10- 15 TIMES. THIS MORNING WAS AROUND 30 TIMES. I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR SINCE I GOT IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SATURN 4 TIMES BUT ALL THEY TELL ME IS "THAT'S THE WAY IT IS DESIGNED" I WROTE TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE MADE SUCH A COMPLAINT, THEY REPLACED MY CAR WITH ANOTHER AT A COST TO ME OF $675.00. BOTH THE FIRST CAR AND THE REPLACEMENT CAR DO THE SAME THING. I COULD NOT BELIEVE ANY CAR MANUFACTURER WOULD DESIGN A VEHICLE LIKE THIS. MY WIFE HAS A 2002 L200 ALSO AND HERS DOES NOT DO THAT. I WILL GLADLY VIDEO TAPE THIS AND SEND YOU A COPY OF THE TAPE. IT IS A HAZARD WHEN YOUR LIGHTS ARE FLASHING AT THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU.
