When it's cold I get frost inside my vehicle I replaced my windshield because I thought air was getting inside to cause the frost but after getting it replaced same issue water is leaking in and causing moisture and causing my vehicle not wanting to start because it's doing something to the battery

WATER IS LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE CAUSE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONING. WATER IS COLLECTING INTO THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS CAUSED BY WATER INCLUDE RADIO, LIGHTS; DASHBOARD( SHUTS OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN COMES BACK ON) AND INTERIOR, DOOR LOCKS, STABILITY TRACK MALFUNCTION AT WHICH POINT THE CAR WILL SHAKE AND SHUT ITSELF OFF WHILE BEING DRIVEN ABOVE 40 MPH.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I DROVE INTO SOME WATER ON THE ROAD AND LOST STEERING. THE WHEEL BECAME VERY VERY HARD TO STEER. THEN IT HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIME ON THE HIGHWAY. TONIGHT, DRIVING HOME IN THE RAIN AND WENT THREW A PUDDLE OF WATER ON THE ROAD. LOST STEERING ABILITY AND HAD TO STOP THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I COULD NOT MAKE MY TURN FOR THE STEERING WAS SOME HARD. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE CHARGING LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL WHEN I WENT THREW THIS PUDDLE OF WATER. THE SHOULD BE A RECALL A.S.A.P. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO LOCK OR STALLING WHILE TAKING A TURN. INITIALLY THIS WAS A RARELY OCCURRENCE. SO I WENT TO AN AUTO SHOP TO MAKE SURE THAT STEERING FLUID IS AT ITS PROPER LEVELS; IT WAS. THEN A WEEK LATER, THE STEERING STARTED TO LOCK FREQUENTLY WHILE TAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN. I THEN WENT TO ANOTHER MECHANICAL SHOP FOR A SECOND OPINION AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. JUST YESTERDAY(2/9/2019), MY VEHICLE STARED TO HUM AND THE STEERING WHEEL ONCE AGAIN TRIED TO LOCK ON ME WHILE MAKING ANOTHER TURN AND ALMOST CAUSED ME 2 ACCIDENTS ON A MAJOR ROAD. I WAS THEN TOLD TO LOOK UP TO SEE IF THERE'S ANY RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND I FOUND NOTHING BUT I DID FIND THE EXACT SAME ISSUES THAT MY SATURN IS EXPERIENCING CURRENTLY FROM PREVIOUS RECALLS

MY FIRST ISSUE IS THAT EVERYTIME IT RAINS, WATER LEAKS FROM THE SUNROOF. THE AREA AROUND THE SUNROOF WILL BE SOAKED AND DRIPPING DOWN INTO THE SEATS AND DOWN TO THE FLOOR. ALSO MY LIFTGATE DOES NOT WORK. I HAVE TO MANUALLY LIFT IT ALL THE WAY UP AND DOWN. I CAN HEAR THE GEARS TURNING BUT THEY DON'T WORK.

THE FACTORY INSTALLED SUNROOF LEAKS RAINWATER INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR. IT HAS AFFECTED AIRBAGS, SENSORS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND POWER SYSTEMS. IF THE CAR GETS WET, THE WATER TRAVELS TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO CIRCUIT BOARDS AND DISCHARGES THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WILL DIE IN TRAFFIC IF WATER TRAVELS TO THE CIRCUIT BOARD DURING DRIVING. AIRBAGS HAVE EVIDENCE OF WATER TRAVELING THROUGH THEIR ASSEMBLY. FLOOR AND SEATS ARE WET AFTER RAIN, SPRINKLER, CAR WASH, MORNING DEW. DOESN'T SEEMS TO BE DEPENDENT ON AMOUNT OF WATER RECEIVED. BATTERY TESTS FINE ON FULL CHARGE. ALTERNATOR FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. PROBLEM IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO SUNROOF LEAKAGE. SUNROOF SEAL IS NOT YET UNDER RECALL. YESTERDAY, AFTER A DAY OF RAIN, THE CAR HAD TO BE CHARGED TO DRIVE TO WORK. DROVE 20 MILES WITH NO APPARENT POWER ISSUES, BUT AIRBAG SENSORS SENT ALERT THROUGH THE DASH THAT AIRBAGS NEEDED SERVICING. AFTER WORK 7 HOURS LATER, CAR DROVE INTO OKC RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, WATER IN THE ROOF SLOSHED (YOU CAN HEAR IT) AND THE CAR DIED. IN TRAFFIC. COMPLETELY DISCHARGED THE BATTERY. NO LIGHTS. NO HAZARDS. NO DOOR LOCKS. NO BRAKES, STEERING, ABILITY TO MOVE THE CAR IN OR OUT OF GEAR, OR EVEN REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. CAR HAD TO BE JUMPED IN ORDER TO PUT GEAR INTO NEUTRAL TO MOVE OUT OF TRAFFIC AND REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. CHARGED ALL NIGHT ON TRICKLE CHARGER AND WAS RUNNING FINE TODAY. EXCEPT, IT'S RAINING NOW.

THEN RAINWATER STARTED LEAKING OUT OF AIRBAGS IN THE FRONT DASH AND WINDSHIELD SUPPORT AREA. STARTING TWO DAYS AGO, AFTER A RAINSTORM, THE CAR WILL REMAIN RUNNING WHEN THE KEY IS REMOVED, AND SOMETIMES THE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED, WHETHER THE CAR IS RUNNING OR NOT. THE BATTERY ALSO DIES EVERY NIGHT, DESPITE BEING A NEW BATTERY AND REMAINING ON A CHARGER. ONLINE FORUMS STATE THE ISSUE HAS TO DO WITH WATER ACCESSING THE CIRCUIT BOARD AND FUSE AREA, ALLOWING ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS TO REMAIN OPERATING THROUGH A CROSS-FIRE OR CARBON-TRACKING, USING THE MOISTURE TO COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MANY REASONS, NOT ONLY A POTENTIAL FIRE RISK, OR RISK OF THE VEHICLE MOVING AFTER IT'S BEEN SHUT OFF, BUT ALSO POSSIBLE DEGRADATION OF AIRBAG SYSTEMS THROUGHOUT THE DASH AND WINDSHIELD AREA.

THE PASSENGER AIRBAG TURNS OFF AND ON REGARDLESS IF A PERSON (ADULT) IS SITTING IN THE SEAT OR NOT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS NOW. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT A RECALL ITEM NOR WOULD IT BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I FEEL THAT IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAG DOES NOT DEPLOY THAT THE PASSENGER COULD BE IN IMMINENT HARM AT THE FAULT OF GM. THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE SENSOR UNLESS THERE IS A RECALL. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES AS REPORTED ON MULTIPLE ONLINE VEHICLE OWNER FORUMS. GM NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND PROTECT THEIR CUSTOMERS FROM FAULTY EQUIPMENT.

THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, BUT FAILED TO MOVE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, ALL OF THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE STALLED. WHILE DRIVING DURING LOW TEMPERATURES, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS OIL IN THE ENGINE AIR FLOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 172,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER THEN FAILED COMPLETELY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

MY SATURN WAS DISABLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DUE TO A CRACKED WAVEPLATE RESULTING IN LOSS OF GEAR WHICH WAS REPAIRED BUT WAS CURRENTLY TURNED OVER FOR REIMBURSEMENT. PROBLEM SOLVED. WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN FOR REPAIR THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS FOUND TO BE FAULTY AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. AFTER DISCUSSING THIS WITH MY SERVICE REP AT THE DEALERSHIP, AND PERFORMING RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM THAT IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED. FAILURE OF THE BCM RENDERED MY VEHICLE DEAD IN THE WATER. THANKFULLY OTHER FAULTY EQUIPMENT HAD ME IN A RENTAL CAR AT THE TIME OF THE ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE THIS ISSUE TO BE INVESTIGATED AND BELIEVE A RECALL IS IN ORDER. TO ME, THE FACT THAT I HAD TO REPLACE THE MODULE AND THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE ONLY TELLS ME IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID TELL US ABOUT THE LEAKING AREAS ONCE THE DRAINS GET CLOGGED, MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN DILIGENT CLEANING THEM, BUT LIVING IN FLORIDA IT RAINS HEAVY ALL THE TIME. WE NOTICED MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY THE INSIDE DRIPPING IN THE 3RD ROW, UNTIL MANY TIMES, UNTIL THIS PAST NOVEMBER IT RAINED HEAVY FOR 2 DAYS AND THE WATER STARTED COMING THRU WHAT SEEMED TO BE FROM THE AC VENTS ON BOTH ROWS, AND THROUGH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WALLS VERY HEAVY, UPON LEAVING WORK WENT TO TURN OFF THE CAR TOOK KEYS OUT TWICE AND IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. SO NOW THERE IS THE ELECTRICAL AREAS BEING SOAKED, LET IT DRY OUT CLEANED DRAINS AGAIN, AND IT JUST SEEMS THE MORE RAIN WE HAVE THE MORE WATER COMES IN. ON SATURDAY JULY 5, 2014, WHILE TRAVELING N/B ON I-81 IN VIRGINIA MY 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK XR SUDDENLY BEGAN TO LOSE POWER TO THE ENGINE. AT THE TIME, I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND GOING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. AT NO TIME DID ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR OTHER SERVICE INDICATOR COME ON. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER BEFORE IT COMPLETELY STOPPED. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES ON THE SHOULDER THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER. I HAD MY WIFE AND 3 KIDS (8YR, 6YR AND 3 MONTH OLD) IN THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT TOOK AN HOUR FOR THE TOW TRUCK TO GET TO US. WE LOADED THE CAR SEATS AND ALL OF US INTO THE TOW TRUCK AND WERE TOWED TO A MECHANICS SHOP IN FRONT ROYAL, VA. SINCE ALL SHOPS WERE CLOSED AT THAT TIME, WE HAD TO LEAVE OUR CAR AND WENT TO A HOTEL. ON MONDAY JULY 7TH, WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD BE AT LEAST A FEW DAYS UNTIL THEY FIGURED OUT WHAT WENT WRONG. I RENTED A CAR AND DROVE HOME TO NJ. ON THURSDAY JULY 10TH, THE MECHANIC SHOP CALLED AND SAID THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY SHOT DUE TO A MISSING VALVE COVER INSIDE THE ENGINE, 1 OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS NOT WORKING AND MULTIPLE PISTONS FAILING. ON JULY 24TH THE CAR WAS FINALLY PICKED UP AND TRANSPORTED TO ANOTHER MECHANIC BY MY RESIDENCE. THE NEXT DAY THAT SHOP CALLED WITH THE SAME DIAGNOSIS AND SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW ENGINE FROM GM FOR $5,000. THAT PURCHASE WITH LABOR AND TAX WILL COST ME $7,500. THIS WHOLE BREAKDOWN ENDED UP COSTING ME APPROX. $9,000 TOTAL AND I AM STILL WAITING TO GET MY CAR BACK. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED AND HAD ALL THE RECOMMENDED TUNE UPS/RECALLS PERFORMED. IT BOTHERS ME THAT GM PUTS FAMILIES AT RISK BY NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A PUDDLE, THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I HAD THE INTERIOR LINERS REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. WE PURCHASED THIS 2007 OUTLOOK BACK IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP GAVE US A SHEET THAT PURPORTED TO INDICATE THAT THE VEHICLE HAD GONE THROUGH A FULL INSPECTION AND WAS CLEAN. WE LIVE IN NORTH FLORIDA AND HAVE HAD A LOT OF RAIN LATELY. EVERY TIME IT RAINS, WATER GETS INTO THE DOORS AND INTO THE VEHICLE ITSELF - WE CAN HEAR IT SLOSHING AROUND IN THE DOORS AND IN THE DASH OF THE VEHICLE - AND THERE WILL BE WATER, AS MUCH AS HALF AN INCH, ON THE FLOORBOARDS OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS WREAKING HAVOC WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AND SOMETIMES THERE WILL BE THE SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING. THE FANS, PARTICULARLY IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE, ARE RUNNING INTERMITTENTLY; THERE IS A CRACKLING NOISE THAT COMES THROUGH THE RADIO SPEAKERS EVEN WHEN THE RADIO SYSTEM IS TURNED OFF, AND THERE IS SO MUCH MOISTURE IN THE VEHICLE THAT THE WINDOWS FOG, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE, AND THE FOG IS DIFFICULT TO CLEAR EVEN WITH THE DEFROST SYSTEM BECAUSE IT'S NOT BEING CAUSED BY COOL TEMPERATURES BUT RATHER BY THE MOISTURE IN THE VEHICLE. YESTERDAY, I DROVE IT TO WALMART AND THEN HOME AFTER WORK WITH NO PROBLEMS, PARKED IT IN OUR DRIVEWAY, AND DIDN'T LEAVE THE HOUSE THE REST OF THE DAY; THIS MORNING, WE WENT OUTSIDE, AND WHEN MY HUSBAND PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION TO START THE CAR, IT WOULDN'T START AT ALL, AND THEN HE COULDN'T GET HIS KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION; WE HAD TO LOCK THE DOORS MANUALLY AND LEAVE IT THERE WITH THE KEYS IN IT. SUNROOF LEAKING WATER INTO THE PASSAGE COMPARTMENT AND DOWN THE FRONT FIREWALL AND GLOVE BOX COMPARTMENT. WATER ENTERED INTO THE COVER THAT HIDES THE FRONT A/C BLOWER MOTOR. MOTOR IS SITTING IN 1-2 INCHES OF WATER. MOTOR STARTING TO CORRODE AND STOPPED WORKING. LUCKY THERE WASN'T A FIRE. FOUND UTUBE VIDEO DESCRIBING HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. REMOVED COVER TO BLOWER AND FREED UP BLOWER MOTOR CORROSION. ORDERED A REPLACEMENT BLOWER MOTOR. DRILLED 2 HOLES IN THIS COVER TO ALLOW FUTURE WATER COLLECTION A DRAINAGE ROUTE OUT OF THIS COVER. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO AND I HAD TO CHANGE THE FRONT HEADLIGHT ABOUT ONE YEAR LATER. I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO CHANGE A SIMPLE PART SO I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY CHANGE THE BULB. THE BULB LASTED A FEW MONTHS AND THEN BLEW OUT AGAIN. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD A FAULTY $25-30 BULB SO I BOUGHT ANOTHER. I HAD TO RE-RESEARCH HOW TO CHANGE THE BULB AND THIS TIME I FOUND OUT THAT OTHER SATURN OUTLOOK OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I CHANGED THE BULB AND IT BURNED OUT AFTER ABOUT TWO WEEKS. I COULD THEN SEE THAT THE WIRE HARNESS THAT PLUGS INTO THE BULB WAS MELTED. 1) CAR NO LONGER SHIFTS OUT OF FIRST GEAR (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). 2) CAR CONTINUES TO RUN FOR UP TO 30 SECONDS WHEN THE KEY IS REMOVED. DEALER STATES THAT A WATER LEAK BEGINNING AT THE SUNROOF LEAKS WATER ONTO THE FUSE AREA IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUSING FAILURES REQUIRING A FUSE BOX REPLACEMENT. WATER WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR CLIP; THE HEADLINER ABOVE THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS WET. BEFORE THE CAR DIED, THE TEMP GAUGE READ HOT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON, REAR HATCH WAS NOT WORKING, LATER TO FIND OUT THE REAR SWITCH SHORTED FROM WATER. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A GM SHOP WHERE THEY FOUND A WATER LEAK THAT FLOODED THE FUSE BOX. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO US. THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FROM 2/7/12 -2/23/12. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED THE HORN WASN'T WORKING , RADIO/NAV SCREEN WAS BLACK, BUT YOU COULD HEAR THE RADIO. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT BACK ON 2/29/. ANOTHER LEAK WAS FOUND. A "WATER MASTER" REPLACED THE SEAL AND GLASS ON THE SUNROOF .THE CAR WAS RETURNED ON 3/6/12. THEN WE NOTICED THE INSIDE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING ALONG WITH THE RADIO WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND THE OUTSIDE TEMP REG. @ 82 DEGREES WHEN IN FACT IS WAS 42 DEGREES OUT ALONG WITH CONDENSATION ON 4/3.GM PUT OUT BULLETINS MAKING THE PUBLIC AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL ISSUES DUE TO INADEQUATE DRAIN TUBES TO PREVENT THE PROBLEMS ABOVE FROM HAPPENING. THE REPAIRS HAVE FAILED. APPARENTLY, THERE IS A SEVERAL DESIGN FLAWS IN THESE VEHICLES.THERE COULD BE POTENTIAL DISASTROUS OUTCOME FROM THE PERSISTENT WATER LEAKS WE ARE EXPERIENCING DESPITE REPAIRS DONE PER SERVICE BULLETINS. WE HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM EXTENSIVELY AND HAVE READ 100'S OF OTHER SATURN OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES; EVEN AFTER THE REPAIRS TO PREVENT THESE PROBLEMS. WE BOUGHT THE CAR JAN 8 OF 2010 AND WAS STILL UNDER FULL WARRANTY- AFTER THE FIRST MONTH I BROUGHT INTO SATURN AND TOLD THEM OF ALL ISSUES. THEY SAID THEY GOT IT ALL FIXED IN JUNE OF 2010 BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN FOR BASICALLY SAME ISSUES AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED EVERYTHING AGAIN AND WERE ALSO CLOSING DOWN THAT DAY SO WERE HURRYING ME OUT THE DOOR. AFTER THAT HAD SAME ISSUES (ESPECIALLY STEERING WHEEL AND ENGINE PROBLEMS,OIL LEAKS, ALONG WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS) AND WE WERE DIRECTED TO GO CHEVY SINCE SATURN WAS GONE. EXPRESSED TO THEM SAME ISSUES WITH STEERING WHEEL ETC. THEY ALSO FIXED A RECALL ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AND FIXED POWER STEERING PUMP THAT WAS BROKE TWO MONTHS LATER HAD SAME ISSUES WITH STEERING AND ENGINE AND AIRBAG SENSOR AND BROUGHT IT AGAIN AND THEY ALSO FIXED ANOTHER RECALL, IN THE HEADLAMP. (WE HAVE ALL DOCUMENTS) NOW THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION IS OUT AND OIL LEAKS AGAIN SO SINCE IT STILL UNDER POWER TRAIN THEY ARE FIXING THEM BUT GM WILL NOT APPROVE THEM TO FIX THE STEERING COLUMN THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACE NOR THE AIRBAG SENSOR ISSUE. WE HAVE CALLED THEM EVERYDAY AND SENT THEM OVER ALL OUR PAPERWORK THE LAST TWO YEARS SHOWING THAT THE STEERING COLUMN AND AIRBAG SENSOR HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE BEFORE OUR FULL WARRANTY WAS UP. THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WILL WORK FOR AWHILE BUT THEN IT WILL APPEAR TO BE "BURNT OUT". THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT SEVERAL TIMES. THE LIGHTS WILL START WORKING AGAIN (AT LEAST TEMPORARILY) WHEN I SWITCH FROM THE "AUTO" LIGHT SETTING TO "MANUAL" AND BACK AGAIN. I HAVE READ ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT WEBSITES THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CAUSE BEING THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE LIGHTS. ABOUT A MONTH AGO, THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY 2007 OUTLOOK XR STARTED EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT OPERATION. I TRIED TO TAKE IT INTO THE SHOP ONCE, BUT BY THEN THEY HAD COME BACK ON. A FEW WEEKS LATER, BOTH OF MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. THIS TIME, I HAD THE SHOP LOOK FURTHER INTO THE PROBLEM. AS IT TURNED OUT, BOTH OF THE HEADLIGHT HARNESSES WERE COMPLETELY MELTED AND MY MECHANIC REPORTED THAT ONE EVEN APPEARED TO HAVE CAUGHT FIRE. WE HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES BECAUSE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED FOR OUR OUTLOOK, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE SEEN ONLINE REPORTS OF THIS SORT OF PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES ARE MUCH STURDIER AND THAT THIS PROBLEM SHOULDN'T REOCCUR, HOWEVER, I FEEL THAT GM SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ONE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE METAL AND/OR WIRING ON THE FIRST HEADLIGHT HARNESSES. THE COPPER CONNECTER WAS BLACK AND THE SURROUNDING BLACK PLASTIC BRITTLE AND MISSHAPEN. YOU CANNOT REPLACE THE WIRE HARNESS WITHOUT REMOVING THE COMPOSITE LIGHT FIXTURE WHICH LOOKS LIKE YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY. THE AVERAGE CAR OWNER WOULD HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME JUST REPLACING THE LOW BEAM LAMP. THE HIGH BEAM LAMP REQUIRES DISASSEMBLY. OF THE COMPOSITE HEADLAMP UNIT. I HAVE OWNED MY 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK SINCE NEW. I LOVE MY CAR OVERALL, BUT HAVE EXPERIENCED SOME UNWANTED REPAIRS. BESIDES THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG NOT WORKING PROPERLY, AND THE SUNROOF LEAKS, I HAVE HAD TO COMPLETELY REPLACE 3 HEADLIGHT HARNESSES ALREADY. MY RIGHT LIGHT WENT OUT APPROXIMATELY 2YRS AGO. FOUND OUT THE WIRING WAS COMPLETELY MELTED. SATURN ADVISED THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY AT NO COST. JUST RECENTLY, THE SAME HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHO INITIALLY TOLD ME IT WAS JUST A HEADLIGHT AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. TURNS OUT IT WAS THE HARNESS AGAIN. WHILE THE HARNESS WAS ON ORDER, MY OTHER HEADLIGHT WENT OUT CAUSING ME TO DRIVE WITH HIGHBEAMS FOR LIGHTING FOR SEVERAL DAYS. YES, IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM FOR BOTH LIGHTS. THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WENT AHEAD AND REPAIRED THEM BOTH AT NO CHARGE TO ME AS A COURTESY THEY SAID. MY VEHICLE HAD 72,000 MILES. WHILE I APPRECIATE THAT THEY COVERED THE COSTS, I ALSO FEEL THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IN THE FIRST PLACE. AFTER READING SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS, I FEEL GRATEFUL I DID NOT PAY BUT AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A FIRE HAZARD. THE BULB WAS REPLACED WITH AN AFTER-MARKET BULB BUT TO MY SURPRISE, THE LIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN WITHIN 2-3 WEEKS. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE SATURN DEALERSHIP, THE ENTIRE RIGHT FRONT HEAD LIGHT AREA WAS REPLACED AS THE BACKGROUND WIRING HAD COMPLETELY MELTED. THE COST WAS OVER $500. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AT THE TIME, HENCE THERE WAS NO COST TO ME. ON SATURDAY, JULY 2, 2011 HOWEVER, THE SAME RIGHT SIDE HEAD LIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE GM DEALERSHIP ON WEDNESDAY JULY 6, 2011, I AM NOW TOLD THAT THE COILS HAVE COMPLETELY MELTED AGAIN AND THE COST THIS TIME TO ME IS $212. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! THIS HAS GOT TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AS I AM CONCERNED WITH WHAT IS ACTUALLY GETTING SO VERY HOT THAT IS MELTING THE COILS. I AM MORE CONCERNED THAT THIS TYPE OF HEAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE TO PREVENT AN UNNECESSARY TRAGEDY/ACCIDENT.

HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. REPLACED WITH SAME TYPE OF BULB. BULB WAS OUT IN 4 DAYS. WIRING HARNESS COMPLETELY MELTED. GM HAS ALREADY ISSUED A 'TECH NOTICE' ON THIS EXTENSIVE PROBLEM, BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR COST OF $400 BECAUSE IT ISN'T A RECALL. I'M SORRY, BUT REPLACEMENT OF A HEADLIGHT BULB THAT THEN BURNS UP THE WIRING HARNESS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. WHY ISN'T A FUSE TRIPPED IF THERE IS SOME ISSUE - ANY TIME ELECTRONICS MELT, THAT IS A BIG PROBLEM! MY 2007 OUTLOOK XR LEAKS WATER INSIDE OF IT AND IS MESSING UP THE ELECTRICAL STUFF IN IT. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FROM OTHER OWNERS. EDMUNDS WEBSITE HAS SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THERE THAT YOU CAN READ. I HAVE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTOR OVER THIS MATTER BECAUSE THE WATER LEAKING IN IS FROM FACTORY DEFECTS. I HAVE A 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK XE AND IN LATE 2009 MY DRIVER SIDE DIM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. WE REPLACED THE BULB TO NO AVAIL. MY HUSBAND CHECKED THE WIRES WHICH WERE BURNT UP AND REPLACED THEM. THE LIGHT WOULD WORK INTERMITTENTLY. FINALLY HE FIXED IT LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE IT LAST FOR ABOUT 6-8 MONTHS AND NOW IT IS OUT AGAIN. WE BOUGHT A 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK IN MAY OF 2008. THE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMPS WOULD KEEP "BLOWING" SO WE THOUGHT. THEN THE DRIVER SIDE STARTED DOING THIS. ON FRIDAY NOV. 26 WHILE DRIVING DOWN I90 (A MAJOR HIGHWAY) IN ALBANY AT 5AM IN THE RAIN, I LOST BOTH HEADLIGHTS. MY HUSBAND WOULD GO TO REPLACE THEM AND THEY WOULD COME BACK ON WITH THE TOUCH. AFTER READING THE MANY COMPLAINTS WE REALIZED THAT WE HAVE THE SAME HEADLIGHT PROBLEM. AS MANY OTHER OWNERS OF 2007 SATURN OUTLOOKS HAVE REPORTED, THE WIRING FOR BOTH HEADLIGHTS HAVE MELTED, LEAVING ME WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ALL MOTORISTS SINCE THE INCIDENT CAN OCCUR AT NIGHT WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE A MUST. REPLACING THE WIRING HARNESS AND CONNECTOR WITH THE SAME FACTORY WIRING AND CONNECTORS THAT GM SUPPLIES YOU WITH PER THE TSB, IS NOT A CORRECT FIX. THIS WILL LEAD TO A FUTURE FAILURE, AND MELTING WIRING AND PLASTIC COMPONENTS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND GM KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM. THE FACTORY NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL AND HAVE ALL COMPONENTS UPGRADED TO ONES THAT WILL HANDLE THE VOLTAGE REQUIRED TO RUN THE HEADLIGHTS. 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK. DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CONTINUOUSLY DEVELOPS PROBLEMS. FIRST, LIGHT STARTS OPERATING INTERMITTENTLY; THEN, EVENTUALLY FAILS COMPLETELY. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I REPLACED THE BULB (DIFFICULT OPERATION ACCESSED THROUGH THE WHEEL WELL). IT WORKED WELL FOR A FEW WEEKS, THEN FAILED AGAIN. AFTER READING OTHERS' EXPERIENCES, THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED, I INSPECTED THE SOCKET AND SAW VISIBLE CHARRING ON THE CONTACTS. SO, I REPLACED THE SOCKET WITH AN AFTERMARKET PART AND REPLACED THE BULB. IT FUNCTIONED WELL FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS, AND NOW THE HEADLIGHT IS INTERMITTENT AGAIN, LEANING TOWARDS FAILING COMPLETELY AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN INFURIATING BECAUSE THE EXACT ONSET OF THE PROBLEM IS UNPREDICTABLE AND HAS ALREADY CAUSED ME A NYS EQUIPMENT VIOLATION TICKET. PLUS, FROM WHAT I CAN SEE, IT IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD AND CERTAINLY A SAFETY HAZARD AS FAR AS DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH ONLY ONE (OR POSSIBLY NO) FUNCTIONING HEADLIGHT(S). I HAVE EXPERIENCED ONLY ISSUES ALL YEAR WITH MY 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK. IT HAS 55,000 MILES AND IN JUNE 2010 THE WIRING SHORT CIRCUITED BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING THE THEFT SECURITY LOCK SYSTEM TO GO INTO EFFECT ASSUMING THE CAR WAS BEING HOT-WIRED. IT COST ME OVER $300 TO FIX AT THE DEALER AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THEN THE DEALER SAID MY INSIDE FUSE BOX WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED FROM WATER AND THEY WOULD NEED TO FIX THE LEAK MY SUNROOF WAS CAUSING. THE DEALER HAS MADE 6 ATTEMPTS TO FIX AND I JUST PICKED UP MY CAR THIS MORNING, HOPEFULLY AFTER THE FINAL ATTEMPT. NOW MY BREAKS ARE CAUSING ISSUES, THE BREAK PEDAL SOFTENS AND GOES DOWN TO ALMOST THE FLOOR WHEN PRESSED EVERY 4TH OR 5TH TIME AND IT IS DRINKING BRAKE FLUID, I NEED TO TAKE IT THIS WEEKEND TO CHECK FOR A LEAK. 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK XR DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP IS EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT OPERATION. UPON PERSONAL INSPECTION OF THE HEADLAMP, THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF AN ELECTRICAL "MELT" OF THE CONNECTOR WIRES FROM THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP. EVIDENCE SUGGEST THAT THIS PROBLEM STEMS FROM A LESS THAN SUFFICIENT WIRING HARNESS INSTALLED IN THIS AND SIMILAR MODEL GM VEHICLES FROM 2007 TO THE PRESENT. IT IS NOT PRIVY TO HAVE A CUSTOMER PAY ADDITIONAL CHARGES TO AUTHORIZED DEALERS FOR SERVICE ON LESS THAN ADEQUATE PARTS THAT WERE USED IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE VEHICLE. AS HEADLAMPS ARE AN ESSENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AND NECESSARY FOR NIGHTTIME/UNCLEAR WEATHER CONDITIONS DRIVING, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THIS PROBLEM BE RESOLVED. MY LOWBEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT IN MY 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK. I REPLACED THE LIGHT AND IT WENT OUT AGAIN A DAY LATER. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE WIRING HARNESS IS MELTED AND THE WIRING GOING INTO THE HARNESS IS BURNT. THIS IS DUE TO TOO MUCH VOLTAGE CAUSING THE HARNESS TO MELT. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH MANY SATURN OUTLOOKS IT HAS YET TO BE A RECALL. THIS IS NOT ONLY A MANUFACTURE ISSUE BUT A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT MY 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK THE PASSENGER LOW BEAM WENT OUT. UPON OPENING THE HOOD WHEN I STOPPED I NOTICED THE DISTINCT ODOR OF BURNT PLASTIC. UPON FURTHER EVALUATION WHILE REMOVING THE BULB I OBSERVED THAT THE INSULATION FOR THE WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED OFF AND SHORTED AT THE INTERFACE BETWEEN THE WIRE AND CONNECTOR. THE CONTACT FOR THE BULB ALSO EXHIBITED CHARRING AT THE CONNECTOR CONTACT. AN INTERNET SEARCH FOR A REPLACEMENT BULB ALERTED ME THAT THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN (09-08-42-004) ADDRESSING THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS HARNESS SHOULD THE HEADLIGHT FAIL. I FEEL THIS IS A OEM DESIGN FLAW AND SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE HARNESS CAN SHORT OUT TO THE POINT TO WHERE THE INSULATION IS MELTED COMPLETELY OFF EXPOSING BARE WIRES. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH IN EXTREMELY HEAVY RAIN CONDITIONS. SUDDENLY, THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING BECAME DIM AND THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWERING STEERING FOR A PERIOD OF THIRTY SECONDS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE FRONT FENDER LINER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE IDENTICAL FAILURES CONTINUED TO OCCUR AFTER THE SERVICE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,689.

PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP ON A 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK HAS NOW HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE IN TWO MONTHS. WIRING HARNESS IS SHORTING OUT CAUSING THE HEADLAMP TO FAIL. BULBS ARE FINE AND IN WORKING CONDITION. WHEN RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET ON HOW TO CHANGE THE LAMP, I FOUND THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE HEADLIGHTS ON ALL MODEL YEARS OF SATURN OUTLOOK, GMC ACADIA, BUICK ENCLAVE, AND CHEVROLET TRAVERSE HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM OF THE HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS MELTING AND FAILING. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN CONCERNING THE DEFECT ( SATURN TSB #09-08-42-004) STATING THAT THE HARNESS SHOULD BE REPLACED (WITH THE SAME HARNESS, SO THE PROBLEM CONTINUES) AND NYOGEL GEL SHOULD BE USED AT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION POINT.
