I have experienced peeling of the chrome plating (over plastic) on the INSIDE door release handle on the DRIVER'S side door. When I first noticed this, I cut my fingers on the peeling chrome plating. I had to continually cut back the sharp edge, or carefully reach over it, to prevent further cuts to my fingers. The door handle is not available as a service part from GM for the Saturn Sky (and similar Pontiac Solstice). According to parts catalogs, it was only available as part of the inner door assembly, which is long obsolete for the driver's door side. I was forced to adapt a part from the Chevrolet Cobalt (and used an aftermarket part from Dorman) to replace the handle when I got tired of dealing with cuts. There are a number of YouTube videos showing how to replace the handle, which indicates this is not a one-off problem.

BRISCOE NOTED SOMETHING PECULIAR ON THE SDM INFORMATION BOX. MR. BRISCOE, THE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATOR, FOUND THAT THE INFORMATION GIVEN ON THE BOX STATED THE MY CLIENT MATT CASTRO DID NOT HAVE HIS SEAT BELT ON AT THE TIME THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. HOWEVER, POLICE REPORTS AND POLICE STATEMENTS PROVIDE THAT MY CLIENT HAD TO HAVE HIS SAFETY BELT CUT AWAY TO EXTRACT HIM FROM THE VEHICLE. THIS DISCREPANCY IS OF MONUMENTAL IMPORTANCE IF WE ARE TO RELY ON THE ACCURACY OF THE SDM DEVICES. SDM DEVICES MAIN PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE ACCURATE DATA AT THE TIME AN ACCIDENT OCCURS. A DEFECTIVE DEVICE FAILING TO RECORD ACCURATE DATA COMPROMISES ALL FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS OF THE VEHICLE.
