Passenger airbag safety intermittently turns on stating that the passenger airbag is not able to deploy. If I turn the car off and on it goes away and doesn't turn until another time I start the car. Also detects a passenger in the seat when there is no passenger or weight in that seat. Overall some sort of issue with the airbag safety system in the front passenger seat. I will state no liquids have been spilled on the seat.

I had an Occupant Detection System replaced under recall in my 2017 Forester. Five years later it went bad. Obviously, still faulty. Cost $1,800.00+ (you read that right) to have it replaced. Contacted Subaru twice about this and both times denied for replacement cost. Really unfair and absurd. Will never own another Subaru for this reason. Not standing behind a sub par part. Unwilling to help out customers.

I want to bring a widespread safety issue up that is not being resolved by the manufacturer. I have a 2017 Subaru Forester with a faulty ODS sensor. This is a known issue to Subaru and there are bulletins issued on this topic (WUM-98 and 17-19-24). I had the original ODS sensor replaced in 2021. Several months ago my passenger airbag lights started to turn off again. I took it to Subaru and they did a diagnostic test and found that the replacement ODS sensor had again malfunctioned - code b1760 "occupant detector sensor mat fault." I was told (at the dealership service center) that the sensor is on back order and was quoted to $1,887.62 to replace the seat bottom. However, the seat bottom is also on back order. I was told to contact Subaru directly and they would likely cover the cost since this is a known issue with a bulletin out and the parts are on backorder through the dealership. I have since contacted Subaru many times only to be told that there are no active recalls on my vehicle and the recall for the faulty ODS sensor shows completed on 6/28/2021 @ 57,096 and Subaru would not have a path of goodwill assistance towards the repair since it has been more than a year since the replacement.  Subaru forums are full of owners going through the same thing and being told the part is back-ordered, they need a new $1,800 seat bottom, or this issue isn't covered because their seat probably got wet, etc. If both the wiring harness and the seat bottom are both on back order, then what is the solution - buy a new seat, buy a new car? This is not a cosmetic issue, normal "wear and tear" or a maintenance issue. This is a model-wide issue among all Subaru vehicles. This is a defective part and clearly replacing the wiring harness does not fix the problem. This is a widespread safety issue that is not being addressed properly by Subaru, which is why I'm escalating this to the NTSB.

Previous recall for passenger ODS. Having continued issues with passenger airbag ODS not recognizing someone sitting there. Intermittently turns on and off even if no one is sitting there. Took it to a dealer and they want me to pay out of pocket for diagnostic and possible parts. Very high concern for even allowing someone to sit in the car (even my pregnant wife) in the case there was ever an accident.

I just noticed today that the air bag warning light was illuminated. There was an adult in the passenger seat and the car indicated that the passenger air bag was OFF. This vehicle had a previous air bag recall applied that was to correct these same symptoms. I noticed that a zip tie was cut and not replaced that secured the underseat wiring. I checked the underseat connectors and they all appear to be securely connected.

In 2020 my ODS wireharness had been replaced. I'm now having the same issue in 2025 with the ODS system. I had the ODS recall fixed but the dealership is telling me it is the ODS seat mat not the harness that needs repair and that is not covered under the recall. The airbag light is showing it is off even when I have a passenger. This is very dangerous because if I were to get in an accident my passenger is not protected. I have not gotten it replaced or fixed because they are quoting me over $2000 for the repair. This repair should be covered under the ODS recall.

My srs airbag system is off for the drivers. It went off for no reason. I went to Subaru but they said it would be $3000 and an undetermined wait for the part to come in. But I’m supposed to keep driving my primary car with no guarantee my airbags will deploy if in an accident.

SRS AIRBAG LIGHT continuously switches on in the car with a passenger present. The seat has been replaced, light is still coming on and issue is not resolved. The dealer is refusing to resolve the issue with the sensor/ wiring harness and saying it is not applicable for recall repairs. This is a Safety issue that Subaru of America is refusing to address that directly impacts the safety of passengers and consumers.

On 8/14/25, a diagnostic fee was charged by White Bear Lake Subaru in Vadnais Heights, MN for an issue that was later confirmed to be part of an open Occupant Detection System (ODS) recall on a 2017 Subaru Forester. When the recall repair was completed on 8/27/25, the dealership refused to refund the diagnostic fee, saying reimbursement had to come from Subaru of America. Subaru of America then stated that diagnostic fees are determined by the retailer and would not be reimbursed. This left the consumer with an out-of-pocket charge directly tied to an open safety recall affecting the airbag system. Recalls are supposed to be performed at no cost, including any diagnostics required to confirm the recall issue.

Lately, Airbag warning light comes on intermittently often. Sierra subaru would not fix without charging me for inspection for $240 and then cost of rapair. Also cruise control is malfunctioning where it gets disengaged near the vehicle in front where I have to apply brake hard to avoid serious accident. Also the EyeSight NOT working warning has started showing lately. My forester 2017 at 44K miles showing airbag light at times along with cruise control disengaing near front car and eyeSight not available mentioned above. Detail on airbag fix at Sierra Subaru in Monrovia, California. On August 12, 2025, I want to get this intermittent error fixed under warranty. on August 12, 2025 Alexander in service told me that it will be $240 approximately of charge to inspect. Kindly let me know if the airbag warning light at such low milage not going to be covered for warranty. Please Note that I bought the Forester at Sierra Subaru Monrovia Ca and had every single service done there. Lately I have been charged in thousands of dollars at such low mileage to own the 2017 Subaru Forester

The passenger airbag sensor often, but not always, malfunctions in my 2017 Subaru Forrester. Often it says PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF when there is a passanger. Occording to KBB Kelly Blue Book there IS a current RECALL in place for 2017 Subaru Forresters for EXACTLY this issue, including for my car - but when i typed in my liscnese plate in the NHTSA website, no unrepaired recalls showed up for my car.

The right passenger airbag sensor is malfunctioning. When a passenger rides in the front seat, the air bag turns off and the air bag warning goes on. I believe this could be related to the earlier Subaru recall for the seatbelt harness. I have been quoted $1,900 by Subaru for the repair. I've read on Subaru forums that this can be a problem for model years affected by the earlier recall. I have a video showing my husband is the passenger seat, the air bag warning light is on and the air bag is off. The problem happens intermittently.

I’m facing a really big issue here. I’ve been experiencing all the textbook issues in my vehicle for both of the recalls that did exist for my vehicle. I purchased my vehicle in [XXX], and I was just in to Walser Subaru in St. Paul MN where they said my recalls were completed in April 22, 2022. That is absolutely not true. I was at the dealership all day that day. So I called Miller hill Subaru in Duluth MN where it said it was done, and all they provided me with was the 2 dates I had brought it in for a general inspection and for an a/c issue. All I had done there was a transmission flush and both of those times were well after April 22nd. I purchased my vehicle from Anderson Auto in Rice Lake Township. So now I have my car with recalls that were falsified that they were done, but I am expected to pay for them. The airbag warning light illuminates sometimes. I investigated the area under the passenger seat, related to the previous recall for the passenger seat occupancy sensor, and found that there were cut cable ties and no support for the wiring under the seat. I attempted to reseat the connectors and the warning light turned off for a while but turned back on later. It appears that either the previous recall didn't fix the issue or that the repair work was not performed correctly.

I have been in contact with Michael Hohl Subaru for the last 1 1/2 years or more regarding airbag turning off while seats are occupied. I have continuously been told that the part to fix it is on eternal back order. Contacted to Shalana at Subaru of America and was told there is nothing they can do. They cannot give us a rental car or loaner car. Steve Dix at Michael Hohl said they cannot help us either.

A few years ago, our Subaru Forester had an open recall (WUM98-1) due to an issue with the passenger-side front airbag ODS, which caused the system to fail to detect a passenger, making it unsafe to drive. We had the recall repair completed at the time. However, about a month ago, the same airbag warning light came on again. After taking the vehicle in for service, we were informed that a different part (passenger front seat bottom assembly) now needs to be replaced due to code B1650. The dealership stated that this part is on a three-month backorder, leaving us with an unresolved safety issue. Since this appears to be the same underlying problem affecting the passenger airbag system, I am reporting it to the NHTSA to determine if other Foresters are experiencing similar failures. Additionally, this is an expensive repair, and I believe it warrants further investigation to determine if Subaru should take responsibility for addressing it.

Over a year ago, the vehicle started reporting that the passenger side seat sensor was not working correctly, and would fail to register that the seat was actually occupied. The vehicle was taken to a Subaru dealer who told us that a replacement sensor was unavailable, and that the part would have to be made and shipped from Japan, and that it could take as a long as a year to be received. The sensor has intermittently worked or not since that time. When we had the vehicle in for service recently we were told that the part still was not available, and that it could still take a year for a replacement part to be available. This is a serious safety issue.

The WUM-98 recall fix did not address the problem with the front passenger occupancy detection system. We, and many other Subaru Forester owners are continuing to experience problems post recall repair with the SRS Airbag light on, indicating error code B1760 "Occupant Detection Sensor Mat" failure. Subaru is not covering the cost of addressing this problem, and the entire seat frame and bottom cushion (that includes the sensor mat) are required to be replaced at the consumer's expense, with bills for repair in excess of $1.700. And, due to the high demand for this repair, parts are not available to perform the repair for as much as 6 months! This is jeopardizing the safety of occupants in the front passenger seat for extended periods of time while waiting for parts, whereby the airbag is not active due to the sensor mat problem. The original recall should have encompassed not only the harness cable component, but also the sensor mat. This is a very obvious Subaru Problem and they should take responsibility and not pass this off to their customers

The passenger seat sensor intermittently turns on and off as indicated by the warning light on the dashboard and the "passenger airbag on off" light indicating it is off when an adult passenger is sitting in the seat. This put the passenger at risk of serious injury if a collision would have occurred or could occur. I took my car to the dealership on January 1, 2025 where they inspected the vehicle and said that the seat sensor needed to be replace costing ~$1,700. The above warning first occurred on December 19, 2024 and then on December 26, 2024, which both occurred on a 250-mile trip. The passenger airbag wiring harness was replaced under recall in August 2020 but failed to correct the problem. Internet searches have indicated that this is a continuing safety issue, but currently there is no recall on the seat sensor.

The Occupant Detection System (ODS) has failed in this 2017 Subaru Forester. The dealership tried replacing the wiring harness under a previous recall but it did not fix the problem. The ODS does not correctly identify when a passenger is seated in the passenger seat and therefore will not properly activate the passenger airbag. I ordered a replacement seat assemby in October 2023 but to date the dealership has been unable to obtain the part, and has been unable to fix the ODS malfunction in any other way.

Passenger air bag light on dash coming on, started off dinging even with no one sitting in the passenger seat. Now the Air bag light stays on constantly. I was told by the Subaru dealership near me that they found a B1650 in the system for occupant detection malfunction. Tested the seat with a human and the scan tool and they found the sensor is not picking anything up. The mechanic told me the seat appeared to be wet, which it was not and has never had water damage. The vehicle is garage kept and has low mileage so minimal exposure. The dealership told me I would have to pay $160 for diagnostic and $1200 before tax to have the seat base replaced. I know there was a recall for the passenger air bag in the past which I did take into the same dealership who says the replaced the defective part. I feel the Subaru company should stand behind their product and correct this issue. I was told they would not guarantee the airbag would work, which is a HUGE safety issue.

Front Passenger airbag sensor fault causing airbag to be turned off despite unit having been repaired under recall 19V-701. Occurs approximately 50% of the time after starting car and appropriate adult weight passenger sits in front seat. Has occurred on at least 3 occasions in last week.

The contact owned a 2017 Subaru Forester. The contact stated that while attempting to make a left turn at an intersection, the contact observed there was a vehicle coming towards the intersection at high speeds. The contact stated that the stop light was green, however, the contact stopped the vehicle, and the vehicle coming towards the contact, depressed the brake pedal causing the vehicle to swerve and crash into the contact's vehicle on the front passenger's side at approximately 50 MPH. The contact stated that the vehicle spun around about 90 degrees. The air bags did not deploy, and no warning lights were illuminated. The contact sustained severe whiplash causing a concussion, crushed disc, ruptured at least 1 vertebrae, and spinal column nerve damage. The contact had been receiving medical treatment since the accident. The vehicle was towed to the tow company's storage lot. A police report was filed. The insurance company determined that the vehicle was a total loss. The other driver sustained severe burns when the air bags deployed. The contact was informed that the vehicle was in dealer mode, which did not allow warning lights to illuminate the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.

For the last 2 yrs. our airbag light comes on and off saying we don't have air bags, some days it works and others it doesn't. I took the car into a Subaru dealership, and they said I had to replace the passenger seat at a cost of $1,200.00. I just saw that there is a recall about this and would like to get them to fix this issue at no cost. Subaru is supposed to be the safest car on the road, we'll I'm not feeling safe now.

My passenger airbag light goes on and off while someone is sitting in the passenger seat. I've experienced this with people of different weight in that seat. I looked it up and found a TSB related to this issue (NHTSA ID: 19V-701, Number: [XXX] ) but my specific car is not covered even though it is having the same problem and is the same year, make/model. I took the car to the Subaru dealer on Monday [XXX] and they confirmed there is a faulty passenger occupant sensor but they will not cover the repair. This issue puts my wife or anyone else sitting in the passenger side at huge risk for loss of life. The light that goes on and off is just the sensor light, my error light in the dashboard does not go on even though the dealer has confirmed this issue. The contact owned a 2017 Subaru Forester. The contact stated that after driving into a parking space in a parking lot with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle jolted and veered to the right. The passenger's side of the vehicle hit the driver's side of another occupied vehicle. The other vehicle was scratched and there was no injury sustained. The contact stated she then reversed out of the parking space, and the vehicle made an abnormal growling sound. The vehicle then accelerated unintendedly while reversing. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that she depressed the brake pedal continuously but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact then shifted into drive (D), and the vehicle accelerated increasingly. The contact swerved and hit another unoccupied vehicle; however, the vehicle continued to accelerate unintendedly. The contact stated that she then attempted to drive into a tree to stop the vehicle, but a high curb caused the contact to miss the tree, and the vehicle crashed into an unoccupied vehicle that was parked behind the tree. The vehicle then stopped. The unoccupied vehicle then hit another vehicle, which caused a train of reaction that involved 6 unoccupied vehicles. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that an unknown rear tire blew out, and the vehicle was severely damaged. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The insurance company then towed the vehicle to another lot, where it was totaled. There was no police report filed. The contact sustained pain in the right SI joint and on the right leg. The contact stated that the incident might have intensified her pre-existing neck injury. The contact also sustained mental and emotional trauma. The contact received medical assistance and was undergoing physical therapy. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

As of now, I have a car with a defective airbag with no prospect of resolution from the dealer or manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2017 Subaru Forester. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the passenger’s side air bag sensor showed that there was no passenger in the seat. The contact stated on other occasions while there was a passenger seated in the seat, the occupant detection system failed to detect a passenger seated in the seat. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but recurred several times. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the passenger’s air bag sensor needed to be replaced; however, the contact was advised that the sensors were on a national backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and advised the contact that the sensors were on backorder. The contact was recently advised that he would have to take the vehicle back and return the loaner vehicle to the dealer. The contact was advised by the dealer not to have a passenger sit in the front passenger’s seat until the air bag sensor was replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

My passenger airbag light has been on for several months now. And another warning light comes on frequently, telling me to check the SRS airbag system. The first time I mentioned it at the Subaru dealership, they told me there was nothing wrong with it. But I took it in for an oil change, and had them check it again. Because I feel like my passenger is in danger, with the airbag off. This time, they told me I need a new lower seat on the passenger side, that the sensor inside the airbag is faulty. And it will cost almost a thousand dollars fix it. And it would come out of my own pocket. I found out this is a known issue with Subaru, and I don't understand why they don''t have a recall on this. My Subaru service department told me he'd replaced 4 in the last two weeks. That's a lot!

I noticed that the airbag light was continuously illuminated on the dashboard of my Subaru Forester. I promptly took my vehicle to a certified Subaru dealership to have the issue diagnosed and resolved. After a thorough inspection, it was determined that the passenger seat bottom occupant seat mat required replacement to rectify the problem. Otherwise, my airbags would not inflate in the event that I would need them. I would like to emphasize that I have always maintained my vehicle in excellent condition and followed all recommended maintenance procedures. I have never exposed the seat to moisture or allowed any foreign objects to be shoved under it. Furthermore, I am the primary driver of the vehicle and rarely have passengers, which makes it highly unlikely for any undue stress or wear to be placed on the seat mat. Considering the circumstances, it is evident that this issue is a result of a manufacturing defect or premature failure, rather than any negligence or misuse on my part. I find it disconcerting that a critical safety component such as the airbag system would fail within a relatively short period of time and with minimal use. There was a significant repair cost as well.

I have a problem with the recall issue that the service dealership said they completed but now its showing alert and it seems to be wasn't fixed good. Please help because I dont understand why it would have been completed when its an problem now. If anything happens to me when Im driving an the airbag dosent come out, its you guys fault because its not fixed good. I been calling Subaru Hawaii and letting them know this but they dont want to fix the recall now because its was done but still broken? I dont understand. The car services I have been going to and I been paying them but they dont seem to do a good work to fix it or completed it. They had so much mistakes on my car and I am so upset. I wish I never had this car. Please help me!

They claimed that the seat must have gotten wet to create this error code, but it seems to me to be the same problem as was reported in the :NUMBER: WUM-98R NHTSA ID: 19V-701 DATE: 10/14/19 REVISED: 12/13/19 documents that I found on the NHSTA site. I think the same issue is in this newer harness that was in the older one. On August 16,2022, we picked up the vehicle from its other repairs (60,000 mile service and AC condenser replacement). The dealer had just reset the B1650 code. We drove less than 50 miles before the “SRS airbag system needs to be checked” error message came back on. It only seems to come on at certain times when the passenger is over 190lbs. In addition, every once in a while the passenger seatbelt alarm goes off with no one in the seat. The only way to get it to stop is to engage the seatbelt. The Subaru dealer wants to replace the seat cushion with the harness and the ODS mat for a total of $1600.00. I believe that this was one of the options to do in 2020, but they opted for only replacing the cable, not the full sensor and seat.

The passenger seat air bag sensor failed. The seat cushion/ airbag sensor assembly was replaced under a recall at 43,000 miles. It was replaced with an identical assembly which has now failed at 113,000 miles. Subaru says they will not cover the cost ($1,150) of this 2nd replacement because the car is now out of warranty. I argued that the 1st part was defective and was replaced with an identical defective part. They (the Subaru customer advocate office) said the car was out of warranty so they were not responsible. The subaru tech who checked it said the seat may have been damaged by a spill since there were stains on the seat, tho he did note that the cushion was dry. It has worked correctly since he examined it. I think it is obvious that Subaru had a new design for this sensor and introduced it on the new model 2017 forester. The problem was limited to the Forester. I feel that they made a mistake on a vital piece of safety equipment and should own that mistake for the life of the car. Since I intend to keep this car for another 200,000 miles, and the part lasts an average of 56,000 miles, it will need to be replaced another 3 or 4 times and I do not feel that I should pay for Subaru's mistake. If the other 320,000 foresters that were recalled have the same part failure that I have and subaru charges them $1,150 each then subaru will be taking $368 million from their customers to pay for an engineering mistake. And then again. And again.

My SRS airbag light came on and said it needed to be inspected. Notably, this issue is similar to a prior recall of this vehicle that I had repaired. The Subaru dealership indicated that the bottom of the seat needed replaced and that the airbag may not function properly until this is fixed; however, they also noted that the part won't be in stick until October/November. This seems like a huge safety issue to not have the part and there is potential that the airbags won't work.

This is for a 2017 Subaru Forester. The passenger airbag sensor in the seat keeps turning off the airbag when a passenger is in the seat. The problem is intermittent. The dealer couldn't replicate the problem and it wasn't repaired. I believe this car had a recall about this, but the problem keeps happening. This car has had the issue dozens of times and the problem needs to be investigated. There are many, many complaints about this issue.

My vehicle was involved in a five car accident where is was completely destroyed and flipped upside and the two front airbags never deployed which caused head, back, and neck injuries to the two passengers that were in the two front seats. There was a recall on the the passenger front air bag which supposedly got fixed by Palm Springs subaru on July 13, 2020. This recall air bag never deployed during or after the major accident. I contacted the Subaru of America which they supposedly did an investigation on why the two front airbags did not deployed and they stated that there was not malfunction on either airbags which is hard to believe because my car was unrepairable because of the severe damages due to the accident. I would like this to be taken into consideration.

I UNDERSTAND THE NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING POSSIBLE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEFECTS IN 2016-2018 SUBARU FORESTERS. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR IN OUR 2017 FORESTER IS NOT WORKING ON A CONSISTENT BASIS AND HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR.. MY WIFE NEEDS A SEAT CUSHION FOR HER BAD BACK AND MANY TIMES, WHEN MY WIFE SITS IN THE SEAT, THE AIR BAG STAYS IN THE "OFF" STATUS. WE ALSO FOUND THAT THE SAME ISSUE COMES UP WHEN SHE DOES NOT USE THE CUSHION. ALSO, WHEN SHE IS WEARING A WINTER COAT AND NOT USING HER CUSHION, THE SENSOR STAYS IN THE "AIRBAG OFF" POSITION. ALSO, WE FIND THAT THE AIR BAG STAYS "OFF" IF THE CAR IS RUNNING BEFORE SHE GETS INTO THE SEAT. IF SHE GETS INTO THE SEAT BEFORE THE CAR IS TURNED ON, WE FIND THAT THE AIRBAG SENSOR SEEMS TO WORK (NOT ALWAYS, BUT SOME OF THE TIME). THE DEALER HAS LOOKED AT THIS ISSUE SEVERAL TIMES AND CANNOT FIX THE SENSOR. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE SENSOR IS IN THE LOWER SEAT BACK AND NOT IN THE FLAT PART OF THE SEAT SO MY WIFE NEEDS TO ADJUST HER SITTING POSTURE FOR 5-10 MINUTES BEFORE THE AIRBAG "OFF" LIGHT GOES OFF. MY WIFE DOES NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES WHEN SHE IS DRIVING WITH HER SEAT CUSHION - WE ASSUME THE DRIVERS AIRBAG IS ALWAYS ON. PURCHASED OUR 2017 SUBARU FORESTER ON 09/24/16. ON 09/05/17 THE WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD CAME ON WARNING THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. THIS HAPPENED WHEN A PASSENGER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE CAR WAS ON A HIGHWAY. THE WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON 40-50 TIMES WHEN THE CAR IS ON THE ROAD AND A PASSENGER IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT INTO DEALER AND I WAS TOLD MULTIPLE TIMES CODES WERE NOT THERE SO NO PROBLEM. WE WERE TOLD DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING ELECTRONIC NEAR THE SEAT. TOLD WE HAD SPILLED LIQUID ON SEAT AND SEAT DIRTY. NOTHING HAS EVER BEEN SPILLED ON THE SEATS. I FIND IT TROUBLING THAT A MAJOR SAFETY SYSTEM OF A VEHICLE IS MALFUNCTIONING ON A REGULAR BASIS AND THE SUBARU IS NOT ACTIVELY TRYING TO FIX THE VEHICLES. I WENT INTO DEALER TODAY ON 3 OCT 2019 TO AGAIN HAVE THE PROBLEM LOOKED AT ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY CAN ORDER PART. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND IT IS INTERESTING TO SEE THAT SO MANY OTHER SUBARU FORESTER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THERE ARE LAW GROUPS LINING UP CLASS ACTION SUITS. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE CAR EXAMINED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PASSENGER OCCUPANCY SENSOR WAS FAILING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD BUT HAS 52643 MILES ON IT AS I TRAVEL THROUGHOUT NEW ENGLAND ON BUSINESS, MOST OF THOSE MILES THE PASSENGER SEAT IS UNOCCUPIED. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WE HAD PURCHASED WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE WE WERE TOLD IT WAS THE BEST WAY TO PAY FOR ANY EXPENSIVE ELECTRICAL REPAIRS THAT MIGHT POP UP. I HAD THE DEFECTIVE SENSOR REPLACED FOR $1.178.50. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE SENSOR WAS IN FACT A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND THE REPLACEMENT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT NO COST TO ME DUE TO ITS FAILURE TO PERFORM.

THEY CHECKED FOR STORED CODES AND IT CAME BACK WITH CODE B1760 WAS STORED IN OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM AND CODE B1650 STORED IN AIRBAG CONTROL SYSTEM. THEY CHECKED FOR ANY DAMAGE/LOOSE CONNECTIONS/MOISTURE AS DEALER STATED THOSE THINGS MAY CAUSE THE LIGHTS TO COME ON BUT NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. THEY CLEARED THE CODES AND STATED THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG AND THE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON WHILE THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALER BUT THEY DIDNT EVEN DRIVE THE CAR WHICH IS WHY THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. I WAS CHARGED $105.95 BY THE DEALER FOR THEIR TIME. I TOLD THEM THAT I RESEARCHED THE MATTER ONLINE AND THAT MANY SUBARU FORESTER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT UNTIL SUBARU ISSUES A RECALL THEY CAN'T HELP ME AND WON'T REIMBURSE ME FOR MY CHARGES.

WE WERE ADVISED TO JUST ASSUME THAT THE AIRBAG WORKS CORRECTLY, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS TELLING US THERE IS A PROBLEM.

MY WIFE HAS BEEN USING A SEAT CUSHION, FOR HER BACK PROBLEM, FOR OVER A MONTH. STARTING 4 DAYS AGO THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR INDICATES OFF. THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ONLY GOES BACK ON WHEN THE SEAT CUSHION IS REMOVED. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO MY SUBARU DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THAT THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES. I ASKED THEM TO REPLACE THE SENSOR AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR WOULD TURN OFF WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SELLERS SUBARU (23651 HALL RD, MCCOMB, MI) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR MALFUNCTION OF SOME SORT CAUSES AIRBAG SYSTEM TO BE SWITCHED TO "OFF" EVEN WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE VEHICLE. I HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME, AND THE CODE WAS "RESET" IN THE MEMORY AND I WAS INSTRUCTED TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT DID HAPPEN AGAIN, AND THIS TIME THEY SAID "THE CODE WASN'T IN THE MEMORY" AND THAT "WHEN IT HAPPENS, BRING THE CAR RIGHT IN WHILE THE LIGHT IS STILL ON." THAT HOWEVER, IS IMPOSSIBLE AS IT WAS RANDOM AND HAD BEEN HAPPENING ON A LONG DRIVE. THEY KEPT THE CAR OVERNIGHT IN THIS CASE, AND TRIED TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. I MYSELF DROVE AROUND WITH THE WEIGHTS ON THE SEAT AND SEATBELT ENGAGED FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH IN AN ATTEMPT TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM TO NO AVAIL. THIS HAS NOT RECURRED SINCE THE 2ND INSTANCE DESCRIBED ABOVE, HOWEVER I HAVE EXPERIENCED WHAT SEEMS TO BE AN EXTREMELY SENSITIVE SENSOR OF WHICH EVEN THE WEIGHT OF A CELL PHONE ON THE PASSENGER SEAT COULD SET OFF THE OCCUPANCY DETECTION SYSTEM. THE FIRST OCCASION HAPPENED AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES, WITH THE 2ND HAPPENING AT ABOUT 35,000 MILES. IT HAS NOT RECURRED OVER THE COURSE OF 10,000 MILES SINCE THEN. THE NEWS OF THE RECENT NHTSA INVESTIGATION INTO THIS EXACT ISSUE PROMPTED ME TO SUBMIT MY OWN COMPLAINT IN AN EFFORT TO BE ON RECORD.

SRS AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. AT THE SAME TIME, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG TURNED OFF. THIS HAPPENED TWICE, 4 DAYS APART. TOOK CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THE SENSOR MUST HAVE GOTTEN WET. I DON'T BELIEVE THE SENSOR WAS EVER WET. HAPPEN AGAIN TWICE IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS WHILE DRIVING. I HAD ALSO PREVIOUSLY HAD THE PASSENGER SEATBELT LIKE COME ON WHEN THERE WAS NO PASSENGER IN THE SEAT WHILE DRIVING. WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACE THE PASSENGER SEAT DUE TO A BAD SENSOR.

THIS SRS AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT KEPT ON SINCE THEN, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS ALWAYS OFF NO MATTER WHETHER THERE IS A FRONT PASSENGER. THIS VEHICLE IS 2-YEAR OLD WITH 2,3000 MILES.

ALSO AIRBAG INDICATOR AT MIDDLE TOP INFORMATION SECTION CHANGES FROM PASSENGER AIRBAG ON TO PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF. THIS HAPPENS EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. THIS EVENT HAS OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS - NOV 2018, AND JUN 2019. IN BOTH INSTANCES THE ISSUE RESOLVED AFTER A FEW DAYS BUT BEFORE SUBARU SERVICE COULD BE SCHEDULED TO REVIEW THE ISSUE. SUBARU SERVICE DEPT SAID THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE FROM A CELL PHONE ON THE SEAT. HOWEVER, NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES WERE ON THE SEAT AT THE TIME OF INCIDENTS. THE SEAT HAVE NEVER GOTTEN WET EITHER.

2017 FORESTER SRS AIRBAG SENSOR DEFECTIVE TWO YEARS AFTER PURCHASE, THE SRS AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARED. THIS LIGHT FLICKERS ON AND OFF, AT RANDOM, WHETHER OR NOT A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT. (NO PASSENGER WILL BE DRIVING WITH ME UNTIL THIS IS REPAIRED.) MY SUBARU DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL (HE MISSPOKE, PERHAPS HE MEANT 'SHOULD BE') AND SAID THAT HE "SEES THIS ALL THE TIME". HE IMMEDIATELY KNEW (PRIOR TO TESTING IT) THAT THEY WOULD BE REPLACING THE PASSENGER SEAT BOTTOM, FOR A NEW SENSOR PAD. HE SAID THEY ARE USUALLY BACKORDERED. BACKORDERED INDICATES TO ME THAT THERE IS A HIGH DEMAND TO CORRECT THIS ERROR IN THIS CRITICAL SAFETY SYSTEM. AT THIS POINT, I HAVE SUBARU CORPORATE INVOLVED; I'VE EMAILED AND SPOKEN AT LENGTH WITH KRIS DRECHSEL, A SUPERVISOR IN CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND CHARLES HOSIER, A CUSTOMER SERVICE ADVOCATE. WHILE THEY BOTH WERE SUPERB IN THEIR INTERACTIONS WITH ME, I LEARNED NOTHING ABOUT WHAT SUBARU IS DOING OR INTENDS TO DO ABOUT THIS REPREHENSIBLE SITUATION, OTHER THAN PASS ALONG MY COMPLAINT. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID NO CODES WERE IN THE COMPUTER SHOWING ANY PROBLEMS. SAID THE SEAT MIGHT HAVE HAD SOMETHING SPILLED ON IT WHICH NEVER HAPPENED! THEY SAID THAT THE RED SQUARE WITH THE WHITE "I" IN IT MEANT THE EYESIGHT WAS MALFUNCTIONING WHICH WAS RIDICULOUS!! WHY WOULD THE AIRBAG LIGHT MAKE THE EYESIGHT MALFUNCTION? I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE EYESIGHT AND I USE IT ALL THE TIME. WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE MANY PEOPLE WHO HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS!! SURPRISED THAT SUBARU HAS NOT HAD A RECALL FOR THIS. ARE THEY WAITING UNTIL SOMEONE DIES IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE THEY DO ANYTHING? THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. I WAS INFORMED ON 9/1/18 THAT PARTS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT NO ONE USE THAT SEAT. I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER 6 MONTHS NOW FOR THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY HAVE NO WAY TO DETERMINE WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE IN. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AS WELL. THEY HAVE MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE A RATTLE SOUND IN THE DASHBOARD, HAD THE AIR CONDITIONING KNOB REPLACED, AND A LOUD SQUEAK IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT REQUIRING A PART TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS MY FIRST SUBARU AND I HAVE NOT BEEN IMPRESSED!

JULY 16 (2018) I TOOK IT FOR REPAIR WHICH SUBARU DETERMINED WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THEY EXPECTED THE PART IN LATE JULY, THEN LATE AUGUST OR EARLY SEPTEMBER, ON SEPTEMBER 11 I CALLED AND ASKED MORE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS TO LEARN THAT NO AIRBAGS WOULD WORK WHILE DRIVING THAT CAR, AND THEY AGREED ON SEPTEMBER 12 TO LOAN ME A CAR WHILE I WAITED FOR THE PART AND REPAIR. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER 29 AND THE PART AND REPAIR HAVE NOT OCCURRED. SUBARU NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE CAN BARELY DO MORE THAN SAY "SORRY" AND GAVE ME A REPAIR DATE OF DECEMBER 4, WHICH AS OF NOVEMBER 26 WAS MOVED TO "SOME TIME IN DECEMBER". FIRST: THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT I WAS NOT FULLY INFORMED OF: WITH THIS PROBLEM THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT ACTIVATE. SECOND: I HAVE BEEN REPEATEDLY ASSURED OF THE PART'S ARRIVAL AND REPAIR BUT IT CONTINUES TO BE DELAYED AS IF SAFETY IS NOT A PRIORITY AT SUBARU. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL STOP WORKING WHILE THE PASSENGER IS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. TWO ALERTS SHOW UP IN DIFFERENT AREAS ON THE DASH LIGHTS INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER AIR BAG ADVISING TO HAVE IT CHECK IMMEDIATELY BY THE DEALER. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THEY FIRST ADVISED ME THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS DO TO THE SEAT BEING WET, PLACING A CELL PHONE OR LAP TOP ON THE SEAT. NONE OF THOSE THINGS HAVE CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO GO ON IN MY VEHICLE. THE LIGHT WOULD RANDOMLY COME ON ADVISING ME THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG WAS NOT ON. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION EVERY TIME. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT MY PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A STAIN ON MY SEAT, THEY CLAIMED THE MECHANIC CLEANED THE SEAT AND THEY WERE GOING TO RELEASE THE VEHICLE TO ME. I INSISTED HOWEVER THAT MY SEAT WAS NEVER WET NOR STAINED. THE SERVICE ADVISOR THEN SPOKE TO A MANAGER AND THEY THEN INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE AIRBAG SENSOR IN THE SEAT. THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE 2 DAYS TO GET THE PART. TWO DAYS LATER THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER ON THE PART. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL STOP WORKING WHILE THE PASSENGER IS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. TWO ALERTS SHOW UP IN DIFFERENT AREAS ON THE DASH LIGHTS INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER AIR BAG ADVISING TO HAVE IT CHECK IMMEDIATELY BY THE DEALER. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THEY FIRST ADVISED ME THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS DO TO THE SEAT BEING WET, PLACING A CELL PHONE OR LAP TOP ON THE SEAT. NONE OF THOSE THINGS HAVE CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO GO ON IN MY VEHICLE. THE LIGHT WOULD RANDOMLY COME ON ADVISING ME THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG WAS NOT ON. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION EVERY TIME. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT MY PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A STAIN ON MY SEAT, THEY CLAIMED THE MECHANIC CLEANED THE SEAT AND THEY WERE GOING TO RELEASE THE VEHICLE TO ME. I INSISTED HOWEVER THAT MY SEAT WAS NEVER WET NOR STAINED. THE SERVICE ADVISOR THEN SPOKE TO A MANAGER AND THEY THEN INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE AIRBAG SENSOR IN THE SEAT. THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE 2 DAYS TO GET THE PART. TWO DAYS LATER THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER ON THE PART. SUBARU DEALER STATES PAST ERROR CODE B1760 WHICH THEY RESET AND SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT FIND AN IMMEDIATE PROBLEM. DEALER ADMITS THAT WHEN WARNING LIGHT IS ON, THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. THIS IS SO UNSAFE I HESITATE TO TRANSPORT ANY FRONT PASSENGERS. IT IS A LARGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS BEING IGNORED! SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY SINCE MAY 2018. OCCURS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION WITH OR WITHOUT FRONT PASSENGER. LIGHT WILL TURN ON SEVERAL HOURS INTO THE DRIVE OR AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. USUALLY WHEN I START THE CAR THE LIGHT IS NOT ON. BY THE TIME I COULD GET TO THE DEALER THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON. DEALER ADVISED THIS CAN HAPPEN IF THE SEAT GETS WET. OCCURRED WHEN THERE WAS NO RAIN, MY CLOTHING WASN'T WET, NO SPILLED DRINKS. STILL NOT RESOLVED AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR KNOWING THAT AIRBAGS ARE OFF. I CHOSE SUBARU DUE TO THEIR SAFETY RECORD.

THERE IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHERE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS DISABLED. I HAVE HAD THE DEALERSHIP LOOK AT THE PROBLEM AND THEY CLAIM SUBARU KNOWS ABOUT IT AND IT IS CAUSED BY A SENSOR GETTING WET IN SOME FASHION. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS NEVER WET WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS. MOST RECENTLY, TODAY, JUNE 10TH 2018 THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG DISABLED LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING IN DRY CONDITIONS AND NO BEVERAGE OR MOISTURE OF ANY KIND WAS IN THE CAR. THIS IS ALWAYS THE CASE. AFTER I PARK THE CAR, TURN IT OFF, HAVE THE PASSENGER EXIT THE VEHICLE AND GET BACK IN THE SYSTEM IS FINE AGAIN. I FIND IT INCREDULOUS THAT I HAVE A 16 MONTH OLD CAR THAT THIS HAPPENS REPEATEDLY IN. I HAVE MADE THE DEALER AWARE TWICE AND THEY SIMPLY LIST MY SUBARU MAINTENANCE RECORDS AS ROUTINE AND NEVER SHOW THE DETAILED REASON MY CAR WAS TAKEN IN. I AM AFRAID THERE WILL COME A TIME WHEN THE SYSTEM WILL STAY DISABLED AND I WILL HAVE TO HAVE MY WIFE RIDE IN THE BACK SEAT. THE PROBLEM IS THERE ARE ONLY 2 OF US IN OUR FAMILY AND I SOMETIMES HAVE THE REAR SEATS FOLDED DOWN AND THE CARGO AREA IS FULL. THERE WOULD BE NO SAFE PLACE LEFT FOR HER TO BE SEATED IN THE VEHICLE. IF THE NHTSA REQUIRES AIRBAGS IT SHOULD REQUIRE THE MANUFACTURER TO MAKE SURE THE SYSTEM IS NOT DEFECTIVE. I HAVE THE SUBARU STARLINK SYSTEM AND RECEIVED AN EMAIL TODAY THAT THEY WERE NOTIFIED OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURS AND IS EITHER ON A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY. IT HAS OCCURRED NO LESS THAN 8 TIMES AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN MADE AWARE TWICE PRIOR TO TODAY.

SYSTEM WOULD RESET WHEN VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT WOULD OCCASIONALLY DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP ON SEPT. 9, THEY SAID THEY ORDERED PART AND WOULD CALL ME WHEN PART ARRIVED. I DIDN'T HEAR BACK FROM DEALERSHIP, SO CALLED THEM ON OCT. 26. THEY SAID PART WOULD BE IN AND I DROPPED VEHICLE OFF FOR SCHEDULED SERVICE FOR OCT. 31. ON NOV. 3 AFTER NOT HEARING FROM DEALER, I CALLED TO SEE WHY SERVICE NOT COMPLETED YET, AND WAS TOLD PART WAS STILL ON BACK ORDER, SHOULD BE IN SOMETIME IN DEC. THE SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM WORKED FINE AND NO PROBLEM UNTIL THE END OF FEB, 2018. THE RANDOM SRS WARNING INDICATOR WHEN PASSENGER WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT AND HITTING A BUMP STARTED REOCCURRING AGAIN. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN NUMEROUS TIMES, AND PART IS STILL ON BACKORDER. NOW THE SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE CHECK INDICATOR IS ON ALL THE TIME, REGARDLESS IF A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT OR NOT. IT HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN PERIODICALLY. ONCE THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG IS OFF, IT REMAINS THAT WAY UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS TURNED BACK ON. SOMETIMES IT IS ON WHEN YOU START THE CAR; SOMETIMES IT COMES ON QUICKLY, AND OTHER TIMES WE DRIVE FOR A LONG TIME AND EVEN GO WEEKS WITHOUT NOTICING IT. BASED ON THE FACT THAT THE COMPANY KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND THAT IT IS A SAFETY SYSTEM THAT IS AFFECTED, IT SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD BE A RECALL.

I PURCHASED MY CAR IN JULY 2017 WITH 8800 MILES. ONE WEEK AFTER DELIVERY, MY SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. PER THE OWNERS MANUAL, I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE THE NEXT MORNING. THE SERVICE DEPT. SAID THERE IS SOMETHING FAULTY IN THE SEAT CUSHION & A NEW ONE IS ON ORDER, BUT WITH NO DELIVERY TIME PROVIDED. IT'S ALREADY BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE THE ORDER WAS PLACED - NOT SURE WHAT THE REAL ISSUE IS. THE WARNING LIGHT WAS RANDOM AT FIRST BUT, NOW IT'S ON CONTINUOUSLY. I JUST HOPE EVERYONE IS PROTECTED IN MY CAR, IF I GET IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE RECENTLY CONTACTED SUBARU'S CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SEE IF I CAN GET ANY ADDITIONAL ANSWERS.

MY AIR BAG (SRS) WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON REPEATEDLY SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. IT WAS MENTIONED AT THE 5000 MILE SERVICE, BUT NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. I AUGUST 2017 IT BEGAN STAYING ON MOST OF THE TIME. I TOOK THE CAR TO TIMMONS SUBARU IN LONG BEACH, CA, WHERE I WAS TOLD A PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION HAD TO BE ORDERED DUE TO A DEFECTIVE SENSOR. THE CAR HAS BEEN THERE THREE WEEKS WITH NO PROGRESS, AND THEY ARE SAYING THEY HAVE MULTIPLE VEHICLES IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL.

DRIVER'S SUBARU WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY A BOX TRUCK WHILE STATIONARY ON A HIGHWAY (DRIVER HAD STOPPED JUST SHORT OF A MULTI-CAR COLLISION BUT THE BOX TRUCK BEHIND HER WAS UNABLE TO STOP); BOX TRUCK PUSHED THE SUBARU INTO THE CAR IN FRONT. DRIVER'S SEATBELT WAS ON, BUT DRIVER'S CHEST STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL AND HER HEAD POSSIBLY HIT THE SIDE WINDOW. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND SEATBELT DID NOT STOP DRIVER FROM STRIKING STEERING WHEEL. ALSO, THE EMPTY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT ROCKETED FORWARD ON ITS RAILS ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT, AND AT LEAST THREE HINGES FLEW OFF THE PASSENGER SEAT RAIL MECHANISM.
