I have experienced two separate incidents of spontaneous windshield cracking on my 2019 Subaru Outback, with no external impact or road debris involved. The first windshield crack occurred, and Subaru replaced it under warranty after inspection showed no signs of impact. The second crack occurred again without any collision or impact. However, Subaru has now refused to cover the second incident, even though it clearly follows the same pattern. There is no visible point of impact. The cracks appear to originate near the bottom edge of the windshield and spread rapidly. I park the vehicle in a safe residential area and have not driven over rough terrain or been involved in any accidents. I have also referenced a known class action lawsuit involving similar spontaneous cracking issues with windshields in Subaru vehicles, including the 2017–2020 Outback and Legacy models. This suggests a manufacturing or design defect affecting structural integrity. This issue creates a serious visibility and safety hazard for drivers and passengers, especially if the windshield fails further while the vehicle is in motion. Subaru’s failure to cover a known defect and repeated issue puts drivers at risk. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this recurring defect in Subaru windshields to determine whether a recall or broader corrective action is necessary.
On April 14, 2025, I experienced my fourth windshield break- others- 2 that were 3 months apart in 2023 and another in 2024. I do not know how this most recent crack occurred as I noticed it when I went to drive my car, which was parked inside my garage. I had driven 2 places earlier in the day with no signs of a crack and there were no noted strikes to the windshield during that time. I did ride on a highway the day prior, but did not hear any strikes to the windshield. The prior incidences I did hear something hit the windshield. I have been a car owner for decades and this is the first car I have ever had with any windshield crack. This complaint seems typical for this vehicle as many of the same issues were recently included in a class action lawsuit regarding a defect in the glass. Wile the 2019 model was not included for some reason, many NHTSA complaints from people with this model were included in this lawsuit so I certainly hope that NHTSA will seriously look into why these are a common occurrence for this vehicle.
Noticed a huge crack in my windshield this morning before leaving for work. Definitely some sort of stress fracture. Not from any kind of impact or rock chip. It was not there yesterday. This is a huge safety issue due to the suddenness and size of the crack right down the center of the windshield and then branching off to both the driver side view and the passenger side. Difficult to see while driving to work and very worried that the crack will continue to expand. I’m contacting the dealership where I purchased the car in June of 2024.
A crack in the windshield suddenly appeared with no apparent cause starting at the very upper edge about a third of the way across from the driver side and traveled about half way down and then turned to the right for about eight inches. It is available for inspection upon request. As of this date it has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. It has been reported to insurance representatives, but not inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There was no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
Another for the list of many, many windshield cracking complaints. My 2019 Outback 2.5i Limited has had 3 replacements since I purchased it new in late 2018. The cost to replace each has certainly increased each time and is very expensive as it has to include the eyesight calibration. I'm told this is not covered in my extended warranty I purchased when the vehicle was new. Subaru needs to take ownership of the quality issue and compensate the countless owners who have had this same issue, multiple times! I've read the glass is too thin, may be intentional because of the eyesight feature. Mileage and date below are from the most recent crack I had to repair. Please let me know if you'd like more details on the first two occurances as well.
Severe windshield cracking requiring replacement. 2 in 6 month period. 1st was November 2023. Extremely cold temperatures. Cracked directly above heater vents on both sides same time. I watched it go from outer lower edges and move all the way to the center, entire length of the shield. I did not see anything hit the windshield, but they were iced and snow covered. I felt the temperature difference outside compared to in the cabin may have caused the crack. 2nd occurred July 12 2024. Extreme heat ( 100 plus) air-conditioning blasting cold air. Low traffic, at least 4 car lengths between mine and the car ahead. I did not see any debris. I did hear a noise, and then watched the windshield crack from the same location (lower outside edge) this time only the passenger side. The crack started approximately 6 inches. The following morning that crack had moved past midway of the windshield. This is not normal for any other vehicle I have driven. I have been driving 45 years. I have had a rock hit the windshield, some large rocks. In only one case I suffered a chip that was fixed with resin. There is a problem (safety) with this windshield. Installation, glass, design flaw?? I don't know the cause, but It is hazardous. The dealer's mechanic that replaced the 1st one told me "it is a KNOWN issue for my model" someone needs to address and correct an issue that is known which could be catastrophic. I was driving 35 mph in November incident, and 70 mph in July. I can provide documentation re: 1st replacement. I did not take pictures of that one. I can provide photos of 2nd one. I have not done 2nd replacement. I may just trade it out. That is how concerning this issue is to me.
Windshield cracked spontaneously while parked, March 29, 2024. Temperature was approx 28°F. This was the second time in 11 months this has happened. Safelite technician said it was caused by faulty windshield heater. The first one I paid for the replacement, the second one was under warranty from Safelite. But was told if it happened again they would not be responsible.
I now have a second windshield that suddenly cracked. I was told that Subaru OEM windshield was installed and their is a Subaru icon on the glass. The first time was when a defrost was turned on. I heard a pop and crack quickly appeared. Crack started on the outside edge about half way up on the passenger side. Within seconds the crack was half way across to the other side. The most recent it was after a hot day on the previous day the next morning open the garage and immediately saw multiple cracks starting from the drivers side this time, about half way up then running almost half across the other side. Both times I had only had the windshield a few months. I took it back to the windshield installer and they are going to replace it because it isn't due to damage to the windshield like a chip. They told me that they are putting Subaru OEM windshields on right now because they have had to replace 20 recently for the same issue. They just suddenly crack no damage. They said there is a lawsuit. I asked the dealership and they told me that haven't heard any issues with windshields. I just wanted to let you know. It is pretty scary and expensive to have the windshield suddenly crack and it is pretty deep. I'm going to take a picture since my Subaru dealership wouldn't record the issue for me.
My windshield has chipped and cracked 4 times in the 5 yrs that I've owned this car, purchased new. In the first three cases, a minor chip started cracking the windshield almost immediately. In the last case, which I haven't had repaired yet, there wasn't even a chip. The windshield seemed to just spontaneously crack. The glass shop for replacement #3 noted that the car is now rusting under the windshield. The car has only 39K miles on it.
The Windshield of my outback Subaru 2019 has cracked two times since I purchased the vehicle. Not caused by propelled items, accidents or vandalism, instead, these cracks originated from the center bottom part of the windshield suddenly and spread upwards.
My Subaru 2019 Outback has had 5 replacement windshields in 10 months. The windshield seems to crack for no reason and the cracks spread quickly impairing vision and causing worry that any impact of an object would come straight through the windshield and cause harm to driver, passengers and potentially other vehicles. I have talked with Subaru of America, just this last time on the 5th replacement and they had an engineer look at the windshield to determine cause. The report states: “Subaru field engineer determined caused by chip.” As the driver of the vehicle, NOTHING has hit the windshield while driving, nothing of note that is, normal things like rain, sunshine, and wind, which is what a windshield is meant to protect against. The other techs at the dealer could not make out a point of impact. I picked up my vehicle from the dealer at 6pm, drove it a few miles on the freeway, maintaining safe follow distances with my new windshield, and when I got back in the car 2 hours later there were 4 cracks stemmed from the bottom of the windshield that stretched up more than 6 inches. The windshield is currently cracked and I’m waiting for Subaru of America to get back to me on this issue. There is a problem with the windshields and someone needs to take responsibility for it. One or two cracked windshields can be explained, but now with the most recent one, that’s 6 cracks in 10 months. It seems there is a defect.
Within a year, my windshield has cracked 4 times with Subaru glass. These cracks are huge coming from either the top or bottom. With the crack, I feel like the eyesight feature is not accurate therefore causing weird serving. So I do not feel safe leaving my lane assist on. I have had 3 Subaru glass and one safelite glass, and this seems to be a reoccurring issue. what is the point of getting it fixed if it'll just keep cracking.
Windshields crack easily. I was using the original windshield and it was cracked on the passenger side. Common error of subaru outback. My car is only 37000miles.
When defroster was turned on, a crack began on the windshield at the bottom, left of middle. As the days went on, the crack continued to spread when heat was on or sun heated up the windshield. In 3 months it went from a 4 inch to a 10 inch crack that obstructed view. We just had it replaced after paying a $500 deductible, with no guarantee it won’t recur.
We own a 2019 outback, and have had the windshield replaced twice prior this event. The first was a year ago with about 70K miles after the windshield suddenly cracked while going about 70MPH, this happen when no other cares where around. The second time was 2 weeks later when we came outside in the morning and the windshield was cracked while parked in a parking lot. Now for the 3rd time the windshield has cracked while parked in the garage, the windshield has cracked more each night, and has not grown is size while driving. Coincidental all the cracks have started in the same spot, lower portion of the windshield by the wiper, just to the right of the driver. We have been told every time by the dealer that it has been a rock chip, but its hard to get a rock chip when teh vehicle is in the garage and not moving.
My windshield cracked for the 6th time with nothing hitting on this occasion. It immediately shattered and even lost a piece of glass from where it cracked. I believe this to be a safety issue as it could immediately inter with my safety and radar equipment. I am worried if the glass cracks without contact what would happen if something significant hit it. Additionally since this is the 6th time I am concerned that something could be wrong with the design of the vehicle. I have contacted Subaru multiple times without resolve.
Windshield has cracked (large about 10 inches or more) 2 times within a year for no apparent reason. Both times the weather did not have fast shifting changes and the car was sitting in the driveway or in the garage at my residence.
Windshield has been cracked and replaced 3 times and currently has another crack, all within 17 months. Also head unit has internal malfunction and must be replaced at cost of $1700 +/-
As of Today 1-31-24 I have to replace my windshield for the 3rd time. The first windshield was broken when a rock from a semi the rock stuck the windshield (7K miles). I paid for that one b/C that rock would have cracked any windshield. The 2nd windshield cracked for what seemed to me to be no apparent reason (36 K miles). And the fourth Windshield (48K miles) has now cracked in two places for no apparent reason. Subaru paid for the 3rd windshield but Subaru Customer Advocacy says they won't pay for another windshield b/c they paid for the 3rd windshield as a matter of "courtesy". My wife and I have owned 10-13 Subaru's and many other vehicles since the 1980's and have never had any windshield problems like this before. There has to be something wrong with the design or materials in these windshields.
Front windshield cracked without any impact. Was parked in my driveway for previous 3 days. Got in to drive and noticed the large crack right away. It started from the passenger mid lower edge and within a day it cracked halfway across passenger side. There was no divot or impact that caused this.
Cracked windshield (2nd incident in less than 18 months). Windshield cracked without any impact with rocks or other objects. This is an OEM windshield that was installed and calibrated at Sheehy Subaru Springfield, VA. This windshield easily cracks or is damage (impacts blemishes) by minor/small objects, which is unreasonable. This latest incident that I am reporting is a hair line crack, about 14” in length that runs from the edge of the windshield to the middle; there was no impact; this appears to be a temperature change like crack. It adversely affects visibility. This is a very expensive repair $1,500 for OEM and calibration.
Subaru outback had been parked in my garage for a few days. When I decided to move it, I backed out of my garage and noticed that my car had this squiggly crack on my windshield. I see this happen to a lot of subaru owners. Called about getting a defective windshield replaced and was told no. After seeing thaf theres been a lot of complaints of the similar issue. Issue happened on 9.28.23
Small rock impact at top passenger side of the windshield spidered beyond repair in about 30 minutes.
Minor rock strike from road driving on 09/15/23. This resulted in a crack about 8" long on passenger side of window. In 7 days, the crack has grown to about 36" and has fractured in multiple locations. The crack continues to grow even while the vehicle is stationary and not experiencing severe weather events. This is due to a poor bracing of the window on the top frame portion of its mounting location on the vehicle.
Multiple cracked windshields: Sept 2022: 1st incident - heard loud rock hit. So not surprised when I found windshield cracked the next morning. Replaced. June 9, 2023: 2nd incident - No recollection of rock hitting windshield. Came back to car after it was parked in the heat and found the windshield split. Started at top and then formed a crack along top of windshield in both directions. I believe this was caused by the heat, not a rock. You'll see this in 3 attached photos June 22, 2023: Picked up car from having windshield replaced and a small pebble hit the windshield and it immediately cracked. You'll see this in 1 attached photo. --- I know that Subaru is using a thinner windshield so it works with their Eyesight technology but I believe it makes it more prone to crack from extreme heat and from tiny rocks. Maybe Subaru owners have complained about this on the internet. I am now afraid to drive my car for fear of the windshield cracking again. Subaru should be made to improve their windshields or pay for all of the broken windshields -- especially those that don't show rock damage.
One day I got in my car an there was a crack on my windshield and there was no rick chip or any indication of an impact to the windshield.
After a picnic with friends, I got in my car which had been parked for probably 3 hours on the street. While removing the very flexible, lightweight sun protectors I had placed in my windshield, it tugged slightly at the rearview mirror which broke off the inside of my windshield, taking a large chunk of windshield with it. As I drove home, it cracked more from the spot which had broken with the mirror. There was no way to fix my mirror or eyesight system without fixing the windshield, so I had to replace the windshield which cost almost $1,200 (including the eyesight "recalibration").
I got in my car after a few hours of paddle boarding, and there was a large crack in the windshield (not even a chip prior to this) which started from the very bottom of the windshield. It cracked while it was just parked. I checked to see if someone had chipped it while driving by (unlikely in a small parking lot with such low speeds) but there are no chips. I took it to the dealership and the service man said he's never seen one randomly crack from the bottom like this. It has continued to expand QUICKLY anytime it is parked outside in the sun (usually it is in a parking garage, but if I go anywhere, it sits in the sun). The cracks are significant and make it unsafe for much driving. I've done my best to keep it from spreading because I just had to replace the windshield 10 months ago from another non-accident, non-chipped random break and $1,200 to replace it is a LOT to have to pay twice in 10 months.
The front windshield developed a star crack two inches above the base and in the middle. The crack then expanded upward and to the left, and down to the base. There is no evidence of an impact from any object. The windshield crack was treated with Silicone Repair. After one day another crack developed from the same source went upward and then to the left in one direction and also down to the base in another direction. This again was treated with Silicone Repair. I am contacting my insurance company to have the whole windshield replaced. Sine the Subaru Outback has Eyesight function this will need to be done through a dealer. This will be the second windshield replacement for this this vehicle for the same reason. While driving on an empty stretch of road between neighborhoods, I heard a sudden, unprompted, soft pop, like I had just hit a big bug. Immediately, an 8" crack appeared across the eye-line view on the driver's side of the windshield. No shatter or clear point of impact of anything. Just a crack. In 24 hours, it has winded across and up the windshield and I anticipate it will soon affect the guidance cameras in the front. While researching this, we found two settled lawsuits against Subaru for 2017-19 models, including Outbacks, related to faulty windshields. We have not had it inspected by anyone at this point. There were no warning lights, messages, or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the crack's sudden stretch across the windshield.
After warming up my 2019 Subaru Outback, I heard a "pop" as soon as I got into the car. I noticed a vertical crack about 3" long near the center of the windshield. It grew as the day went on. I had it replaced by Safelite. The technician said it was caused by the heater built into the windshield.
the windsheild has cracked 4 times in one year for no apparent reason. It is available for inspection. the dealership confirmed that the windsheld did crack for no reason Inspected by dealership no warning signs. The windsheild has been replaced at the dealership each time.
The windshield is extremely sensitive to fracturing at the smallest of roadway rocks. I had a cracked factory original windshield replaced on Nov. 30, 2022 with a Subaru genuine windshield. That new windshield cracked with a minimal evidence of road debris (and no cars within a 500 foot radius) on March 9, 2023. I called Subaru and asked if they would stand behind their product, and after dealership inspection, Subaru has refused to do anything. If this glass is now a 3 month consumable item, it is untenable to own a Subaru.
The windshield in my 2019 Subaru Outback has been replaced 4 times due to cracks, that have reached at least 50% horozontally across the windshield. The most recent replacement (all have been OEM) lasted 3 weeks before spontaneously cracking. The local dealership has analyzed the windshield and found no evidence of an impact, they have confirmed the severity of all the windshields cracks as they have replaced all 4 windshields.
I bought this certified car in Feb 2020 from authorized Subaru dealer in NJ. After few months in 2020, while driving on highway, I got crack on my windshield. I replaced it at same authorize dealer from where I bought that car. After few months around early 2021, my windshield again got crack. I replaced it again at same location. I have my 3rd windshield right now which is also got crack few months back. I owned my car since 3 years and I already have my 3rd windshield which I need to replace again with 4th windshield. Every windshield costs me around $1000 with going back and forth to dealership service center.
Front windshield glass has cracked spontaneously without known or evidence of obvious impact. The crack was first noticed on 3/12/2023 while parked in garage and had continued to increase so felt it was critical to have replaced so not to experience issue with driver visibility or complete windshield failure. Claim has been filed with Progressive and windshield replacement is currently scheduled for 3/17/2023 with Safelite Glass in Cartersville, GA.
Windshield replaced twice in an 8 month period. No visible chips, just spontaneous cracks that are longer the 24 inches and grow quickly.
I own a 2019 Subaru Outback Touring. This is the second Subaru Outback I have owned. In Aug of 2022, my windshield cracked out of nowhere. The crack came up from the center and spread out across the windshield. I had it replaced at the Subaru dealership in which I bought the car. Everything seemed fine until 12/23/22, when we got some heavy rain and I get in my car only to see water steadily dripping inside via the vehicle the left A-pillar on the front drivers side. I return to the dealer where it turns out that there was a problem with the brand new factory-brand windshield that was replaced in August, and it had been slowly leaking water into my car over those 4 months, resulting in massive damage to the airbag system, electrical system, among other things. These damages came to over $10,500. The water had gathered under my carpets and padding and started growing mold. All of this needed to be replaced. This was the third time I had to replace a windshield on the two Subarus that I have owned. Due to this, I have been without a vehicle for over 60 days now. It has caused me incredible stress, time out of work, and money. I am a caretaker for my paraplegic father who has also suffered due to my being without a vehicle to care for him, run errands, and food shop for him. Throughout my research, I have come to learn that this is a known problem in the Subaru brand vehicles yet they choose to ignore it and do nothing about it. I am not comfortable driving my car any longer, which still has electrical issues and unfortunately, I am losing trust in Subaru as a brand. It is unfortunate that they will not address this and fix this issue because I believe it is damaging their reputation. I have not been left in a good position here, with a junked car that is only 3 years old, 40k miles, and that I owe $15,000 on still, and I now need to find a new vehicle.
Driving 60 mph on freeway in Northern California for about 20 minutes. Ambient temperature about 50 degrees. Drove over a slight dip in road and hear a loud pop and my moonroof glass exploded outward. Moonroof cover was closed so no glass came into interior of vehicle. Moonroof is OEM Subaru (Aisin -Pilkington)
Unknown randomly cracked one day while parked.
I'm writing to document an issue regarding a potential windshield malfunction. I know there have been previous lawsuits about the fragility of Subaru windshields, including with the Outback model. Additionally, there are posts about this issue on several auto forums. I've had this car since August 2019 and in three short years I've had to complete the following three repairs: chip to the windshield -- repair (April 2021), crack on windshield -- total replacement (February 2022), and chip to the windshield -- repair (December 2022). Beyond what seems like a statistical anomaly, this high number of windshield repairs also seems very unreasonable for two more reasons: 1) I only have a 15-mile commute two days per week, and 2) I was working at home for months at a time during two COVID shutdowns within this same three-year time period. Each chip/crack has happened while driving, from a point of impact on the windshield; however, this is a new problem since owning this car -- I've had the same commute since 2013 without this issue (previous car was a Mitsubishi Lancer). A windshield that is prone to easy chips and cracking is a clear safety risk, both to myself and to others. My windshield has not been inspected by the dealer, but I know that other windshields of my make/model have been inspected by other dealers and manufacturers. Additionally, the glass repair service that has handled each repair noted that they've also heard of issues with Subarus and that they've seen my car far more often than vehicles of other brands.
While driving slowly in traffic on the highway my windshield started to crack on the front passenger side. No rocks or debris were seen by myself. Even if a minuscule pebble were to have hit the windshield, the crack spread to over a foot in minutes and this seems like a fault on Subarus engineering. Wish I had known when I got this car two weeks ago.
One morning when I got my car from the garage, it had a cracked windshield near the driver size bottom glass. Happened overnight while in the garage. Took it to Subaru and they agreed to replace it under warranty. They put in a new one, and as I was driving on the freeway, I heard a huge boom sound from the windshield, which startled me! They another boom/cracking sound. The windshield didn't crack, but it was terrifying. I took it back to Subaru and they checked it and did something to help with the seal. A few months later, the windshield cracked from the passenger side edge. Within minutes of driving, it spread half way across the windshield. Nothing had hit my windshield. I am on my 3rd windshield, by the way. There is a problem.
The windshield cracked without any impact, vehicle was sitting in the garage and when I came back to it there was a large 8-10 in crack across the driver side. My visibility is impacted and potentially my safety should the strength of the windshield be compromised. Additionally, the safety systems built into the vehicle may be impacted by the crack. The dealership is refusing to complete service to replace the windshield. Vehicle has not been inspected by anyone else yet. No warning lamps, messages, or signs appeared before the windshield cracked.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. STARTED AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND GRADUALLY CONTINUED TOWARD THE CENTER. IF IT CONTINUED IT COULD AFFECT MY DRIVER VISION AND THE "EYE SIGHT" SAFETY SYSTEM. I TOOK IT TO SAFELIGHT FOR REPLACEMENT. THEY MENTIONED THAT THEY WOULD ONLY REPLACE IT WITH AN AFTERMARKET BRAND. THE SUBARU WINDSHIELD WAS TOO THIN (THEIR OPPINION BASED ON PREVIOUS REPAIRS).
Spontaneous crack of the front windshield, unsafe to drive for fear of collapse into car or during a collision.
Within the three years I have owned this vehicle my windshield has crack with only minor impact or no impack at all to the windshield; the cost of paying for a second windshield replacement is an unreasonable expense something is wrong with the glass integrity of these vehicles.
On August 30, 2022 a small road chip hit my windshield as I was driving around 30 mph. I was surprised to discover that the windshield cracked at the site of the impact on the passenger side of the vehicle. The crack was approximately 12 inches long. Upon inspection the impact crater is very small, less than 1/16" by 1/32" and shallow, although the road chip was so small and vehicle speed so slow, I am surprised the windshield showed any damage at all. Later that day after leaving the vehicle parked I returned to discover that the windshield crack had lengthened to about 28" while the vehicle was parked. This is the THIRD windshield I have had to replace on the 2019 Subaru Outback! All windshields have been replaced by Subaru. I have concerns about the vehicle safety. Will the windshield protect the occupants of the vehicle from road debris as it is supposed to? Will the windshield rip open and injure the vehicle occupants when a minor object hits the windshield? Who should pay for the repair of the substandard windshield and increased auto insurance due to a high incidence of windshield claims? Is this vehicle safe to drive?
I had to replace my windshield 4 months ago from a random crack that appeared for no apparent reason and I am now having to replace it again. It seems like this is happening to a lot of people with Subarus. I believe it is a safety issue.
I replaced my windshield in March 2022 due to a stone chip that immediately cracked to over a foot in length while I was driving. The chip was in the lower quadrant on the driver's side and ended up extending to about the center of the windshield. Five months later, I have another very large crack. I have no idea when this occurred and remember no instance that may have caused the crack. It starts roughly above the rear view mirror, curves out and around it to form a large 'J' shape. While I can understand stone chips are a symptom of normal wear and tear, the excessive cracking is concerning. I do not drive regularly on gravel roads nor am I on the expressway often. I regularly maintain my vehicle and didn't hesitate to get the windshield repaired initially. Having never experienced this issue with other vehicles (in which we've owned several years longer) I don't feel it is right to either have my insurance company or myself constantly be responsible for a product I believe may be faulty.
Crack in windshield while car was parked overnight on 8/17/22. It is an upside down U-shape crack starting in the center, and one side propagating all the way down and other side about half that. The crack can be felt. There is no evidence of a rock or anything else hitting the windshield. Planning to have it replaced in two days.
windshield suddenly cracked and I need to replace it
2019 Subaru Outback. On 8/9/22 I was Driving on interstate and a tiny crack appeared in mid to lower left corner of windshield. Called dealer immediately because it is my second windshield—the first one was covered in 2020 under warranty after It spontaneously cracked. On 8/9/22 I called my insurance while driving (hands free) and they made same day appointment but Safe Lite could not repair the windshield because by the time I got there the crack had expanded, making it a full replacement. There is no recall but already a lawsuit involving 2017-2019 models of Subaru Outback windshields. Trying to get Subaru to replace it again. There needs to be a recall! Windshields should not crack spontaneously or so easily. Thank you!
My windshield cracked on its own (without any object hitting it) under the passenger side plastic that covers the lower aspect of the windshield. The crack extended upwards and towards the driver's side. I'm concerned the crack will start to obstruct the driver's view and that it will be dangerous for passengers inside. Subaru America was contacted by phone and then a few weeks later we were given Case #220504-132599 (through an email from Kris Drechsel at Subaru America). Subaru of White Bear Lake, MN (Greg Nichol) inspected it on June 21st and determined the crack was NOT caused by a rock chip or any other object and the crack started from the bottom (under the plastic) and extended upwards (gave us a different Case #220621-171862). We were told someone from Subaru America would contact us about next steps. They never contacted us.
My windshield now has three cracks d/t small rocks hitting the windshield at far distances from other vehicles. When I originally purchased this vehicle, the windshield was cracked requiring a replacement before purchase. This is a new windshield 2 years old from that initial replacement. The dealer has not confirmed an issue with their windshields. No warnings were provided to watch out for this by the dealer. The first crack occurred 4 months after purchase. The most recent one occurred today.
The windshield on the Outback do not hold up. I have replaced my windshield 2 times. About to replace for a 3 time. All within 13 months. All Subaru windshields. I’m a cautious driver and do not drive close to others. A rock has hit the windshield but it automatically cracks over 8 inches. Not repairable. I’ve never had this problem with my other vehicles.
Windshield development a crack about 12 inches long without any known impact. It just popped and cracked by itself. Conditions were normal, no extreme heat or cold.
The windshield cracked itself without being hit by anything. The crack grows visibly once in a while.
I went outside to get my Sunday newspaper and noticed a large somewhat S-shaped crack on my windshield. It has been parked in the driveway Friday night and all day Saturday July 1-3. I have also had 2 small (nickel-sized) dings which I had SafeLite fix and neither of these have run. I’ve never owned a vehicle in my 60 some odd years with this many windshield issues. Subaru needs to pay for these issues and correct the problem. I will be out $997.28 for what appears to be a design problem.
I had a driver-side mirror damaged in a small crash. The wiring harness for the mirror was pulled from its location. The mirror was replaced, and the wiring harness was not to my knowledge. Since that repair, the vehicled dynamic cruise control, called Eyesight has failed more than 50 times. I have had the vehicle at the dealer 2 times. They concluded yesterday the unit checked out. I drove it for 5 minutes, and it failed again. I believe it could be related to them not replacing the wiring harness. They believe it may be related to a new windshield, which I find it hard to believe. They recalibrated the Eyesight with the non-OEM windshield. Subaru technicians believe it is related to the non-OEM windshield, and I am having a brand new windshield replaced with the OEM windshield. Which I also believe is inferior because of cracks in my orginal windshield.
My windshield is constantly getting cracks and chips. When I tried to get the most recent crack repaired, the windshield cracked, forcing me to get a replacement. When the windshield got replaced, another crack appeared 24 hours later, rising from the bottom (near the car frame), towards the top of the car. This crack nearly doubled in size within 48 hours. I will be spending about $1500 total on two new windshields within a month. This is not what I would expect of Subaru. I've owned many cars in the past, and have never had to replace windshields at this rate.
Three cracked windshields, according to the service personnel the windshield on this vehicle is thin, Subaru was aware of it, but has done nothing about it. Subaru cover the cost of the first windshield and the part that was not covered by insurance on the second one. Now it’s out of warranty and I’m sure the windshield will be out of pocket and it’s well over $1000. The first crack was for no apparent reason, but the second and third one did appear that there was some type of chip in the windshield. I question if the glass is thin how safe can it be?
The windshield of my Subaru Outback just cracked spontaneously and it needed to be replaced. Subaru of America is not paying for the replacement even if it is not my fault that it cracked. They said it is out of warranty but there is an ongoing class action suit against them about this
My windshield cracked in February 2022 while parked and was replaced with a new Subaru windshield under warranty in February 2022. After having the windshield replaced, it cracked again in May 2022, with the crack propagating from the same spot at the base of the wiper blade on the driver's side windshield. The windshield glass failed. It was available for inspection at Safelite and Subaru upon request. Disagreement between myself and Subaru and Safelite as to cause. The main crack is a stress crack, which started from the base of the windshield and propagated towards the center of the windshield. There is a small radial fracture, which seems to be around a jog in the main fracture, possibly where there was a local stress field change in the glass around the intermittent tip of the propagating fracture. Subaru and Safelite claim it is an impact fracture because of the small radial/conchoidal fracture. However, a) I did not witness an impact while driving when the crack initiated, b) the same type of conchoidal/radial fracture can occur due to localized stress field changes in the damage zone ahead of a propagating fracture tip, 3) and the main fracture can then continue to propagate through the damage zone, as it seemed to do in my windshield. The fracture deviates slightly at the radial point, suggesting the radial nature is due to a local stress field change rather than an impact. Furthermore, the intersection of the crack with the molding at the base of the windshield is in almost an identical location to the February 2022 crack, which occurred while my car was parked and had no impact. Even if there was a minor impact, the crack propagating at the same location at the base of the windshield is statistically unlikely unless there is an issue with the glass. Safety of myself and others was put at risk by reducing visibility. No warnings or other signs of failure occurred prior to the windshield failure.
Windshield loud pop then cracked feom bottom up.
Windshields have severely cracked three different times with no apparent reasons - twice while driving and once while sitting in the garage overnight. First two times were replaced with OEM windshield, just happened for third time so I am researching options. Cracks are major and in drivers sight-lines. Not sure if they could be affecting the automated safety features cameras. Each replacement requires safety systems recalibration and opportunity for error.
Window cracked for no apparent reason. No chip or star. Crack is originated from bommot black area and went up to middle. Then across both left and right side
A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED SPONTANEOUSLY. IT SURROUNDS THE SUBARU EYSIGHT SYSTEM. I SUSPECT IT COULD BE A FLAW RELATING TO THIS EYESIGHT CAMERA. THERE ARE APPARENTLY 2 LAWSUITS ABOUT DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELDS IN THE 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK THAT ARE PENDING.
The battery has continued to discharge and today it was dead. Accepted a jump to start however I'm not sure it will hold a charge. I understand that battery drain is a common problem. I am also on my third windshield and this seems strange, unon investigating a see where other owners have reported windshield problems.
While driving on a smooth city street the windshield cracked out of nowhere. No bumps or pot holes were hit or run over when it happened and nothing landed on the windshield.
I own a Subaru Outback 2019, and am based out of Chicago. The car was parked outside during a snowfall. After snowfall I went out to clear the snow off my car, and turned on the defoggers of the car to help clear out the snow on the windshield. After brushing off the snow I noticed a huge crack on the lower part of the windshield across the windshield wiper deicer. There was no other probable cause for the crack. I believe it is the change in temperature when from using the defogger which has caused the windshield to crack. Subaru dealership denies that it is possible, and claims that I was somehow responsible for the crack.
I was driving on paved road, clear conditions, no other traffic, sunny, temperature around 10 F. Without warning, my front windshield cracked. There was no impact of any kind. The crack starts about 6 inches to the right of the driver's side A-post, about 6 inches above the dashboard. It extends horizontally about 2 feet and then curves down to the dashboard. There is no immediate hazard, but clearly any compromise to the front windshield represents a potential hazard. I am currently working with the dealership to resolve the issue.
We purchased our 2019 Subaru in 2018, before the New Year from the showroom floor. We will now have had to replace the windshield twice. Once in October 30, 2019 in which the dealership said that it was too no fault of Subaru, and now today February 22, 2022, the windshield is cracked again from the passenger side towards the middle. This has been a costly expense for us as we are retired. The little round spot you see is from the light of the flash.
Came out of Home Depot on Sunday February 13, 2022 to find large crack in our 2019 Subaru Outback windshield on drivers side for no reason. This spontaneous cracking happened on this same vehicle on Feb.20, 2021 on the previous windshield but on the passengers side and I reported it to NHTSA ID # 11397305. Had it replaced last year and now same issue with spontaneous cracking. Clearly these Subaru OEM windshields are defective and they are very expensive not to mention extra cost of eyesight recalibration on them. I am attaching photos but hard to get whole crack accurately as it originates from the very edge of the windshield and radiates across.
The windshield has cracked from the outer edge while sitting in the driveway. There was no initiating damage from where the crack started. I see online that there are concers with the integrity of the windshield and am concerned.
Windshield durability is questioned. We have had a large crack form near the rearview mirror stem within 3 months of our purchase we have had more than a half dozen other crips and cracks occur during the past 18 months. My impression is the glass used in this vehicle, is not as durable as other windshields from other vehicle manufacturers. I understand other Subaru owners are reporting similar issues. The cost to replace the windshield is plus or minus $1,000. Please look into this matter.
Front windshield developed an 8" crack in one day that continues to grow. Crack is near one front-facing camera, leading to concern that safety features related to the camera may not be effective. Dealer acknowledges a number of complaints about windshield cracking, but will not cover in this case due to it failing a "pen-head" check. In 40+ years of car ownership, I've never seen a crack just take off like this, even from a rock chip, leading me to believe there is a design or manufacturing issue
I have a large crack that started below my field of vision on the passenger side.
CRACKED WINDSHIELD
Windshield cracked overnight in garage without any driving or other incident Crack is over 12 inches long
Front windshield spontaneously cracked while parked in a parking lot. No trees or overhead objects fell on windshield. Crack developed from bottom middle of windshield & cracked out in 2 directions.
Driving north on I-95 at speed limit. No vehicles in front of me for at least 1/4 mile. Heard a POP and immediately a crack appeared from the bottom outside edge of the windshield approximately 18" from the left hand edge of the window. The crack ran vertically for 5 inches then made a right turn (looking out of the window) and continued on for 3 more inches. This running of the crack occurred in less than 5 seconds. We were traveling that day for about 700 miles and each time we stopped we marked the crack length with a sharpie. During the traveling the crack continued to grow to a length of over 18 inches and made a fork in the crack for one turning up, and one continuing to the right. Crack continued to grow as car sat and heated through the following 2 days. By the end the windshield was almost completely cracked from top to bottom, and the crack to the right was 3/4 of the way across the windshield. The point where the crack started had no indication of a strike by an object, and did start from the outside edge of the windshield. Windshield was replaced with a NON OEM windshield by SafeLight Auto Glass.
I purchased my vehicle in the summer of 2019 and within that same month my windshield got hit by rock and needed to replace it. Again, yesterday, the same thing happened.
I have had 3 windshields crack for no apparent reason in the 2.5 years that I have had the vehicle. All had to be replaced. Average costs to replace was $950. All started with the smallest cracks only to spider across the windshield within minutes.
My windshield started to crack from the bottom of passenger side where wipers come up for no reason at all. Now it has spread scross whole windshield.
Windshield cracks at the smallest pebble. I have needed 3 windshields in this calendar year. I have driven for 52 years and have never had any issue with windshield damage until this year with my Subaru Outback.
The windshield has cracked for the fourth time. We were driving and suddenly a 12 inch plus crack developed from the moulding on the driver's side. I have never had to replace a windshield on any car i have owned. This car has had 4 replaced in less than 4 years. 2 times i was able to see a tiny chip and two times i could not tell why the glass had failed at all. Regardless, this is an unacceptable default in the materials. I have spent over $4,000 on these windshields. I am stunned there is not a recall on these.
Windshield cracked right down the middle for no reason. No accident, inclement weather, no trees or anything near the driveway
I have only had the car for two years, but a number of chips and abrasions have occurred with the windshield. I have had at least 4 of the chips repaired, which is highly unusual compared with my other vehicles. About a week after the final repair, while driving, a large crack (approximately 48 inches) appeared over the drivers side window. When I called the dealer, I was told that the windshields are "prone to cracking." The dealer said that Subaru has not instructed them to do anything regarding these complaints. The replacements are very expensive and involve recalibrating all of the safety equipment in the windshield.
while driving heard a POP from windshield area. Didn't observe anything. Within a mile windshield started to crack from the bottom molding area, passenger side, Spread approximately 16 inches in moments. Nothing had hit the windshield. Dealership was contacted and windshield was replaced, and EyeSight had to be recalibrated. Insurance contacted and stated that they had heard of problems with Subaru vehicles windshields cracking.
The windshield abruptly cracked at the top middle without any impact while driving at highway speed
My windshield, after two years of ownership, is covered with tiny chips and abrasions. These abrasions obsure my vision when driving in bright sun. They cannot be rubbed out with grease or alcohol (assuming it may be sap). It seems the windshield material may be defective as this issue has not occured with any of our other vehicles, even after years of driving. I contacted Subaru of Missoula to see what they could do and they told me to replace the windshield at my expense.
The windshield of the car just spontaneously cracked starting down at the wiper blades and extending up and across the windshield about 24 inches
Windshield cracked while driving. Within a few minutes the crack line on the windshield had moved in all directions and some parts are in a 'shattered' pattern. In all of my years of driving (44 licensed years) I have never experienced a cracked windshield and discovered that this is a defect of the manufacturer. For Subaru to claim they are one of the safest vehicles on the road, overlooking the importance of the windshield is ludicrous.
The windshield started to crack and we have no recollection of any impact on it.
Less than a month after purchasing vehicle a chip on passenger side of windshield occurred, probably from a rock kicked up from road. I never bothered to get it fixed as it didn’t effect my ability to operate vehicle. On 07/25/2021 a rock struck the windshield. The next morning I discovered a large crack near the rear view mirror. On 07/28/2021, I had the windshield replaced. Several days later another rock struck the windshield on the driver’s side, and caused a chip, which was directly in my field of vision. I brought it back and they repaired the damage.
On June 20th my front windshield began spontaneously cracking while sitting in driveway. A day later while driving on the interstate, the rearview mirror fell off windshield. Since the rearview mirror is essential for several electronic safety mechanisms to function properly, this means they were disabled and/or malfunctioning as well. After having the windshield replaced, the same thing happened about a month later (July 24, 2021) so now I have to replace it again. In both cases, the Subaru Service Manager determined that there was no chipping or other external damage to the windshield. Looking at customer forums & complaints, this appears to be a defective windshield problem that Subaru is attempting to cover up. It has been going on since at least the 2015 model year. Please help.
Front windshield cracked overnight while in garage. No visible impact on windshield. Subaru service manager said there was an impact after he pushed his pin into crack. Still no impact. I previously attempted to send you a photo but it failed. Send me an email address and I will resend it direct, rather than keep rewriting this missive. The windshield is thin and appears defective and dangerous to driver and passengers.
Driving down a smooth road with no vehicles in front of me on July 13, 2021. Windshield spontaneously cracked at the base in the center. Not a rock chip. Crack spread up 6 inches, left another 6 inches within the 15 minutes it took to drive home. Cracks in the windshield have continued to spread in the days following. Vehicle has total 25,300 miles on odometer.
2019 Subaru Outback the mileage running 22k has cracked the windshield, there's no mark rock chips. Just I found the cracked window while driving.
Windshield spontaneously fractures from drivers side edge in the shape of a curly bracket. First windshield was replaced Nov 2019 due to stone facture - legit breakage. Second windshield March 2020 suddenly cracked from drivers side midway up the window from drivers edge across drivers view while sitting still on a freeway in rush hour as the temperature changed (micro storm in Phoenix) a loud bang and the windshield split from the drivers edge across. Third time July 2021 sitting in the garage window spontaneously cracked over night from same area driver side midway up forming the same partial bracket like shape. Crack also appears to be the same height up from the bottom of the windshield. Never had so many broken windshields on one vehicle in my 35 years of driving.
We have had to replace 2 windshields on our vehicle and 1 on a loaner while ours was in shop for window replacement. Also while our car was in shop having 2nd windshield replaced, they had to delay giving us our car back stating the windshield shattered while being installed. That is 4 windshields in 30,000 miles. The smallest ding in these windshields cause an immediate crack from side to side obscuring visibility making them dangerous to drive. On these cracks you can see the windshields are incredibly thin. There is clearly an issue with how these are made and immediate safety hazard. I also believed the cost of these replacements should be made clear to consumers at purchase due to the extremely high cost associated with replacement.
Windshield cracked after small rock hit it. This should not have caused any damage.
While sitting at a stoplight, I heard a loud cracking sound and noticed a large crack had begun to form from the side of the windshield. Nothing had fallen onto, or hit the windshield, it seemed to just crack for no apparent reason.
Windshield made a sound that sounded like it was hit by a rock or pebble, yet no car was around for a rock or pebble to cause it to fly through the air. The windshield cracked at around the edge of the windshield and within a couple of minutes, the crack extended to around 12 inches. After an hour, the crack extended to across the majority of the windshield. This is the 3rd windshield that had to be replaced. Either the windshield has extensive stresses or it's manufactured too weak and can cause a safety hazard.
Broken windshield - twice in 5 months traveling the same road that I traveled with a 2007 Jeep and never had a broken windshield in 13 years. I believe these windshields are to thin and are subject to cracking. The first time I was hit with a very small rock, barely a ping, the 2nd time I was hit with a larger rock, but way up near the roof which shouldn't have caused a broken windshield. I have been driving 54 years and this is the first auto with such a sensitive windshield. I will sell this vehicle if this happens again.
Small chip in windshield, quickly developed into a crack all the way across
Today May 22 around 4:19 PM no cars close to us while driving we had the front windshield spontaneously crack there was no impact there was no impact heard all we heard was like cracking sound I have seen online where Subaru is using an acoustic type of glass and people are reporting cracked windshields I would like to have this investigated furthermore I’d like to have Subaru repair my vehicle.
Driving down the Interstate the front windshield sounded like a pebble hit it even though there were no other cars in front of ours. Later that day, the small mark cracked two more inches along the drivers side. Within another day the crack has now extended for approximately one foot in one direction and another foot in the other direction, in a circular pattern.
WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN OUR WINDSHIELD CRACKED. WE AREN'T SURE IF THE CRACK WAS CREATED BY A ROCK OR NOT BECAUSE WE DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING HAPPEN. IT JUST CRACKED AND SPLIT AND AS WE DROVE, IT CONTINUED TO GROW. IT'S ABOUT 9 INCHES AT THIS POINT.

MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK HAD A CRACKED WINDSHIELD AT THE BOTTOM/SIDE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WITH NO SIGN OF IMPACT WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED IT. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD A SMALL ROCK IMPACT NEAR THE LINE OF SIGHT CAMERAS THAT WAS EASILY REPAIRED BY SAFELIGHT WITH NO ISSUES WITH CRACKING. TODAY I CAME OUT OF THE GROCERY STORE TO FIND MY PARKED OUTBACK'S WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK FROM THE SAME PASSENGER SIDE POINT AS THE FIRST CRACK. THE CRACK WAS ALL THE WAY TO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE IS A VERY SMALL CHIP LOOKING IMPACT (SMALLER THAN THE POINT OF A BALL POINT PEN) APPROX 4" FROM THE LOWER CORNER PASSENGER SIDE. I DO NOT RECALL HEARING AN IMPACT AT ANY POINT. BEYOND NOT HEARING AN IMPACT THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS NO WAY ON EARTH THAT A SAFESUBARU WINDSHIELD SHOULD CRACK SO DEEPLY AND SO LONG FROM A TINY IMPACT. I HAVE BEEN READING THAT MANY OTHER SUBARU DRIVERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO MAKE SUBARU PROTECT THEIR DRIVERS FROM DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELDS, AS THEY SEEM TO BE TAKING ZERO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE HUGE SAFETY RISK THESE POORLY DESIGNED WINDSHIELDS ARE CAUSING.

OUR SUBARU 2019 OUTBACK SUFFERED A CRACK DURING NORMAL USAGE ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROX. 50 MPH. THE CRACK OCCURRED TWO DAYS AGO (ON 5/2/2021) AND HAS SINCE GROWN DUE TO THE VEHICLE'S VIBRATION DURING USE. THE VEHICLE QUALIFIES AS A MAKE AND MODEL UNDER RECALL BY SUBARU FOR WINDSHIELD DEFECTS.
Mileage: 18,300
I'VE OWNED MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK FOR <2 YEARS AND IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS I'VE HAD THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED TWICE DUE TO SMALL PEBBLES WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, WHICH HAVE NEVER CRACKED ANY OF MY PREVIOUS WINDSHIELDS IN 16 YEARS OF EXTENSIVE DRIVING AROUND THE COUNTRY. IN OTHER CARS, I HAVE HAD MANY PEBBLES AND SMALL DEBRIS HIT MY WINDSHIELD WITH NOTHING MORE THAN A SMALL CHIP. WITH THE SUBARU OUTBACK, BOTH CRACKS BECAME LARGE FRACTURES, BLOCKING VISIBILITY. DUE TO THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM AND NECESSARY RECALIBRATION AFTER WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT, THE FIRST REPLACEMENT COST NEARLY $900. CURRENTLY, I AM DRIVING WITH THE SECOND CRACK BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE IT YET. THESE INCIDENTS HAPPENED NOVEMBER 2020 AND APRIL 2021.
Mileage: 25,000
I PURCHASED A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK IN DECEMBER 2018 AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD THREE TIMES IN JUST OVER TWO YEARS (JUNE 2019, NOVEMBER 2020, APRIL 2021). I OWNED A 2006 SUBARU OUTBACK FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS A SAFETY RISK AND A DESIGN FLAW AND IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.

WINDSHIELD CRACK THAT STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM EDGE OF WINDSHIELD. I LITERALLY WOKE UP TO A CRACK THAT DEVELOPED OVERNIGHT AFTER A REGULAR COLD NIGHT IN RENO NV. THE CRACK CONTINUED GROWING SINCE THEN. I HAVE NEVER OWN A VEHICLE THAT HAS CRACKED ITS WINDSHIELD JUST BECAUSE IT IS A COLD NIGHT. VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT WHEN CRACK DEVELOPED.

MY WINDSHIELD SEEMS TO CRACK/CHIP UNREASONABLY EASY. THE FIRST CRACK WAS A FEW WEEKS AGO. I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING HIT IT. IT JSUT STARTED CRACK. THIS MORNING, I GOT ANOTHER CHIP AND IT'S NOW SPREADING ALSO. I NOW HAVE TWO CRACKS IN MY WINDSHIELD AND NUMEROUS CHIPS!

I JUST GOT SOME INTERESTING DETAILS TODAY FROM MY VIDEO REGISTRATOR. IT SHOWS THAT WE PARKED OUR CAR LAST SUNDAY AT 5 30PM (EVERETT, WA). THERE WASN'T ANY WINDSHIELDS DEFECTS SHOWING ON THE VIDEO. AFTER WE TOOK IT BACK ON 8 30PM, THERE IS THAT PROMINENT CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD ALREADY. NOW, IF IT WAS SOME VANDAL CAUSING IT, THEN IT'S NOT CLEAR WHY HE/SHE WOULD DO SUCH A MINOR HARM TO THE CAR (A THIN, 5 INCH CRACK ON THE RIGHT MIDDLE SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD), IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE IT. IF NOT - THEN IT'S OBVIOUSLY NOT A STONE, CAUSE THE CAR WAS STANDING STILL... PLUS, MY VIDEO REGISTRATOR'S MANUFACTURER CLAIMS THAT THE CAMERA IS RECORDING ANY MOVEMENT IN FRONT OF THE CAR EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF - WELL, THERE WEREN'T ANY MOVEMENTS DETECTED... I HAVE REQUESTED THE BUILDINGS AROUND IF THEY HAVE ANY VIDEO REGISTRATION SYSTEM THAT COULD HAVE TRACKED THIS TIME PERIOD. I'M MORE THAN SURE THAT THE WINDOW CRACKED ON ITS OWN AND HAVE THE FOLLOWING MATERIAL - 3 PHOTOS OF CRACK (DIFFERENT SCALE), VIDEOS BEFORE AND AFTER OUR TRIP TO EVERETT, WHERE IT'S CLEARLY SEEN THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY WINDSHIELD DEFECT BEFORE PARKING AND THAT IT APPEARED DURING THE PARKING PERIOD.

LARGE CRACK FROM DRIVERS SIDE, ORIGINATING AT THE EDGE WINDOW FRAME NEAR THE SIDE MIRROR AND EXTENDING HORIZONTALLY TO NEARLY THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK APPEARED SOMETIME WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN USE. THERE IS NO VISIBLE IMPACT OR DEFORMATION AROUND THE CRACK. THE ORIGIN OF THE CRACK IS NOT VISIBLE, IT BEGINS UNDER THE WINDSHIELD TRIM.

I PARKED MY CAR IN A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT FOR 30 MINUTES. WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR, THERE WAS A LARGE 'T' SHAPED CRACK- ABOUT 12 INCHES IN HEIGHT AND 10 INCHES WIDE- FROM THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD UP. MY WINDSHIELD HAD NOT EXPERIENCED ANY ROCKS OR BLOWS FROM DRIVING BEFORE PARKING- THIS WAS A SPONTANEOUS CRACK WITH NO REASON FOR OCCURRING.

WOKE UP ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 20, 2021 TO FIND WINDSHIELD OF OUR 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH A CRACK IN IT FOR NO REASON. WE DIDN'T DRIVE IT AT ALL SINCE FEBRUARY 20TH AND TODAY THE CRACK HAS SPREAD EVEN FURTHER (SEE ATTACHED PICTURE). THIS CRACKED OUT OF THE BLUE WITH NO FORCE TO CAUSE IT AND HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN. SO I THEN GOOGLED SUBARU WINDSHIELD AND HAVE FOUND MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND THAT'S WHY I'M INFORMING YOU IT HAS NOW HAPPENED TO US.

I REQUESTED MANY TIMES TO HAVE OUR CAR CHECKED FOR NHSTA CAMPAIGN : 19V493000. THE DEALERSHIP SAID OUR CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT CASE. OUR LANE ASSIST WAS TOO AGGRESSIVE FROM THE FIRST DAY WE DROVE THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE STEERING WAS SPEED SENSITIVE AND WE WERE DRIVING TOO FAST. WE EXPLAINED THAT WE COULD NOT KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE WHEN DRIVING OVER 40 MPH. IN THE FIRST 24 MONTHS WE CARRIED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP 20 TO 30 TIMES FOR THE UNSAFE STEERING ISSUE. TWENTY FOUR MONTHS LATER WE HAD A ROCK CHIP THE WINDSHIELD AND THE CHIP RAN INTO 3 CRACKS EACH OVER 8 INCHES LONG THAT AFTERNOON WHILE THE CAR WAS IN OUR HOME GARAGE. AFTER WE PAID A $500.00 DEDUCTIBLE AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD , THE CAR DROVE BETTER. THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES, THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED, ALL THE SENSORS ON THE TAIL GATE HAVE BEEN, THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WOULD STICK 1/2 UP, AND MANY OTHER PROBLEMS. A SCAN OF THE CAR SHOWS 10 MODULES FAILED WITH MANY ACTIVE CODES. THE CODES ARE THE SAME AS BEFORE THE THIRD BATTERY WAS INSTALLED. MANY OF THE CODES ARE SAFETY ISSUES.

ON THE MORNING OF 1/10/21, WHEN I STARTED THE CAR IN OUR DRIVEWAY FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT DAY, I NOTICED A SPONTANEOUS CRACK ON MY WINDSHIELD BEGINNING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE EDGE AND CONTINUING DIAGONALLY UP AND TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT WAS ABOUT 8 INCHES LONG. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING HAD FALLEN ON THE WINDSHIELD NOR ANY POINT OF IMPACT. THIS IS THE 3 OR 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE I'VE OWNED THIS CAR.
THIS IS MY SECOND WINDSHIELD THAT WAS REPLACED ON 12/08/2020 I WALKED OUT TO MY CAR WHICH HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE DRIVE WAY SINCE 12/30/2020 AND NOTICED THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED FROM THE BOTTOM PASSENGER SIDE UNDER THE BLACK WINDOW TRIM I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO CALL MY INSURANCE. THERE IS NO CHIP NO NOTHING JUST THE CRACK LEADING FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDOW NOW

I PURCHASED MY OUTBACK IN APRIL OF 2019. WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, MY OUTBACK'S WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN JUNE OF 2019 AND MY LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD DURING THE SUMMER OF 2019. THEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY IN JULY OF 2019 THE WINDSHIELD OF MY 2019 OUTBACK CRACKED AGAIN. SUBARU OUTBACK'S REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS ARE NO BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL WINDSHIELDS. THEY ARE DEFECT AS WELL. MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK'S WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED TWICE IN AN 14-MONTH PERIOD.

WE DEVELOPED TWO SPONTANEOUS CRACKS IN OUR WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, PARKED IN OUR GARAGE. NO DEBRIS HIT THE WINDSHIELD AT ANY TIME. THE CRACKS BEGIN UNDER/AT THE DRIVER SIDE NEAR/UNDER THE WIPER UNIT. (THE CRACKS ESSENTIALLY FORM A WIDE "V" ONE CRACK TOWARD THE PASSENGER SIDE IS QUITE LONG AND GROWING, THE OTHER IS SHORT - ABOUT 3" NOW ALSO GROWING). THE LOCATION OF THE BEGINNING OF THE CRACK/S IS UNDER THE LEVEL OF THE HOOD OF THE CAR, WHICH WOULD ALSO MAKE IT NEAR IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE CRACK TO BE DUE TO A PEBBLE, GRAVEL, ETC.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED AT THE PASSENGER SIDE BOTTOM AS THE CRACK TRAVELED UP THE WINDSHIELD. I DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING HIT IT.
Mileage: 5,700
ON THE MORNING OF DECEMBER 9TH, 2020 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY AND WAS ON AN INTERCHANGE FROM ONE FREEWAY TO ANOTHER WHEN I SUDDENLY HEARD A 'CRACK'. AS I ARRIVED TO WORK A FEW MINUTES LATER I NOTICED THAT MY WINDSHIELD NOW HAD A LARGE CRACK IN IT. I LOOKED FOR A POINT OF IMPACT THINKING A PROJECTILE MIGHT HAVE HIT IT BUT I DID NOT FIND ONE. AT THAT POINT I REMEMBERED THAT I WAS THE ONLY ONE ON THE INTERCHANGE AT THE TIME AND THAT THERE WAS NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME TO SEND ANY PROJECTILES FLYING BACK. I BELIEVE THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY WINDSHIELD AS THERE WAS NO OTHER CAUSE FOR THE CRACK. ADDITIONALLY, ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT SPUTTERS OR AS IF TRANSMISSION DOES NOT CHANGE GEARS CAUSING A DELAY IN PICK UP AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS LACK OF ACCELERATION.
Mileage: 34,000
THE DAY I DROVE THE CAR OFF THE LOT, I NOTICED A CHIP ON THE WINDSHIELD RIGHT IN THE LINE OF VIEW THAT I DID NOT SEE DURING THE TEST DRIVE. I TOOK IT TO GET REPAIRED BY A REPUTABLE COMPANY AND THEY NOTICED 4 SEPERATE CHIPS. THEY PERFORMED THE RECOMMENDED REPAIRS AND REPLACED MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS. WHEN THE WEATHER BECAME COLD IN HOUSTON, I NOTICED A NEW CHIP THAT HAD A CRACK FORM DOWN THE UPPER RIGHT QUADRANT ON THE WINDSHIELD. I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD PHYSICALLY DAMAGED THE CAR, BUT UPON EXAMINATION THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF SUCH A THING HAVING HAPPENED.
Mileage: 23,375
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY MY GRANDSON ASKED ABOUT A "LINE"IN THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD NOT NOTICED IT BUT THERE WAS A SIX INCH CRACK EXTENDING DOWNWARD FROM THE TOP EDGE. FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE IT WAS OBSCURED BY THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. WITHIN TWO OR THREE DAYS IT HAD CURVED IN AN S SHAPE TO ABOUT EIGHTEEN IN CHES IN LENGTH. NOTHING HAD HIT THE WINDSIELD WHILE DRIVING AND I HAD NOT DRIVEN ON ANY ROUGH ROADS.
Mileage: 21,315
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED ALL THE WAY ACROSS WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE.
Mileage: 30,500
WINDSHIELD BROKE WHILE PARKED. RESULTING IN A $1000 COST TO REPLACE AND RECALIBRATE SAFETY CAMERAS. CAR WAS STATIONARY, PARKED IN MY GARAGE. CAR NEVER STRUCK BY STONES OR OTHER DEBRIS. WINDSHIELD WAS LESS THAN 12 MONTHS OLD. CRACK STARTED FROM THE OUTSIDE MOLDING ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD.
FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE CAR WAS PARKED AND NOT IN MOTION. SPIDER CRACKS RADIATE OUT FROM UNDER THE REARVIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY. NO EVIDENCE OF ANY DAMAGE FROM EXTERNAL SOURCE (I.E. FLYING DEBRIS).
Mileage: 22,000
PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW STOPPED WORKING AND THE WINDSHIELD HAD CRACKED FOR NO REASON AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT.
Mileage: 6,000
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WITH NO EXPLANATION OR IMPACT LEAVING AN 8" LONG CRACK AND NOTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD TO CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN.
Mileage: 26,000
WHEN STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION ON 9/27/2020, THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. NEITHER MY WIFE NOR I SAW ANYTHING PHYSICALLY STRIKE THE GLASS.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 2 WINDSHIELDS IN 6 MOS. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS MANY DAMAGED WINDSHIELDS. THE OFFENDING INCIDENTS BOTH TOOK PLACE ON THE HIGHWAY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, A PEBBLE HIT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND CRACKED ABOUT 10 INCHES OF THE PASSENGER SIDE GLASS. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE MATERIAL OF THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT SAFE. THE CONTACT CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO PROVIDED A QUOTE FOR GLASS REPAIR. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,500.

I PURCHASED MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK ON NOVEMBER 23, 2019. ON FEBRUARY 15, 2020 ON A COLD WINTER MORNING I WAS DRIVIING TO WORK AND TURNED ON THE DEFROST TO HIGH AND THE WINDSHIELD JUST CRACKED. CURRENTLY, THE CRACK HAS TRAVELED FROM END TO END ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE COST TO REPLACE IT IS AROUND $ 800. I FEEL THAT SUBARU NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE THIS ISSUE IS OCCURRING WAY TOO OFTEN. IT SEEMS THAT THE WINDSHIELDS ARE TOO THIN. MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM.
Mileage: 15
WINDSHIELD ON 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH APPROXIMATELY 10000 MILES CRACKED WITH CRACK EXTENDING INTO THE FIELD OF VISION. WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY, THE WINDSHIELD WAS APPARENTLY HIT BY A SMALL STONE IN THE LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE WINDSHIELD BELOW THE WIPER CAUSING A VERY SMALL CHIP THAT COULD ONLY BE FELT WITH A FINGERNAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UPON RETURNING, A CRACK HAD SPREAD DOWNWARD TO THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND UP AND TO THE LEFT ACROSS THE FIELD OF VISION. UPON INVESTIGATING, WE FOUND MANY REPORTS OF RECENT MODELS OF SUBARU SUV'S EXPERIENCING WINDSHIELD CRACKING, PARTICULARLY IN THIS AREA OF THE WINDSHIELD WITH EITHER A VERY MINOR IMPACT OR EVEN NO IMPACT. A SUBARU TSB WAS ISSUED IN 2015/2016 COVERING THIS PROBLEM BUT IT APPEARS THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED IN MODEL YEARS FROM 2017 TO 2019.
Mileage: 10,000
WINDSHIELD SEEMED TO SPONTANEOUSLY CRACK WHILE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT LESS THAN 20 MPH. I HEARD A POP, THOUGH I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD, AND A CRACK ABOUT 22 INCHES LONG IMMEDIATELY APPEARED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK IS ABOUT HALFWAY UP, AND STARTING ON THE LEFT EDGE. UPON INSPECTION THERE IS A VERY TINY CHIP, ABOUT THE SIZE OF A POPPY SEED, NEAR THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD, BUT NO OTHER EVIDENCE OF THE WINDSHIELD BEING HIT WITH A ROCK OR OTHER OBJECT.
Mileage: 25,000
WINDSHIELD CRACKED TOO EASILY (ON ROAD) FOR A VEHICLE MARKETED FOR "OFFROADS". NO COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUES FOR THE VEHICLE. NO RECALLS OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM SUBARU USA.
Mileage: 17,000
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY DEVELOPED A LARGE CRACK, NECESSITATING A REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT SINCE THE CRACK WAS ON THE LOWER PART OF THE WINDSHIELD, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE CRACK OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND IT JUST WASN'T NOTICED UNTIL THE CAR WAS IN MOTION.
Mileage: 20,000
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. MID WAY UP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, JUST LIKE HALF THE OUTBACK'S I SEE ON THE ROAD. 2014 AND FORWARD MODEL YEARS PITCHED THE WINDSHIELDS AT A LOWER ANGLE, MAKING THE WINDSHIELD OPENING IN THE BODY LARGER AND MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLEX WHEN THE FRAME RACKS GOING OVER BUMPS. (MAYBE THE SEALANT IS TOO RIGID.)
Mileage: 4,000
THE CAR WAS PURCHASED CERTIFIED PRE OWNED WITH LESS THAN 20000 MILES. AFTER I GOT MY FIRST CAR WASH NOTICED THOUSANDS OF PIT IN THE WINDOW. THEY HAD IT SUPER COVERED WITH A COMPOUND THE WASH TOOK OFF. NOW FOR NO REASON A HUGE CRAKE WENT THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD! WARRANTY OF COURSE WON'T COVER IT. WHAM!!! $$1000 REPAIR! I HAVE HAD CAR LESS THEN THREE MONTHS.
Mileage: 20,000
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD BEGAN TO CRANK WITHOUT ANY IMPACT. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER ROYAL MOORE SUBARU LOCATED AT 1326 SE ENTERPRISE CIR, HILLSBORO, OR 97123, (503) 640-5660, AND MADE THEM AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I HAD MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED IN MARCH 2019. GOT A ROCK CHIP IN THE REPLACED WINDSHIELD FIXED UNDER THE WARRANTY PROGRAM THROUGH SUBARU. THREE DAYS LATER I COME OUT AND THE FIXED CHIP SPREAD A FOOT ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD AND IS RAPIDLY GROWING. SUBARU IS NOT TAKING OWNERSHIP OF WEAK/FAULTY GLASS AND THE FRAME THAT THE WINDSHIELD IS INSTALLED INTO. I HAVE HAD TWO OTHER VEHICLES FOR OVER TEN YEARS THAT NEVER HAD A CRACKED WINDSHIELD, LET ALONE A ROCK CHIP THAT VIOLENTLY SPREADS. I DID NOT PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE TO SPEND $1000+ ON A REPLACEMENT EVERY YEAR.
Mileage: 20,000
CRACKED WINDSHIELD STARTING AT THE DRIVER'S SIDE EDGE AND CONTINUING OVER 50% OF THE WINDSHIELD HORIZONTALLY. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY DURING THIS TIME.

CONSTANT SMELL WHEN USING WINDSHIELD WIPERS (FRONT) AND WASHING FLUID. HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES THEY ASSURE ME IT IS NORMAL. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WITH THIS ISSUE. I BELIEVE THERE IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE THAT IS CAUSING THIS ISSUE AND IT MAY BE A DESIGN FLAW.
Mileage: 27,000
2 CRACKS IN THE FRONT WINDSHEILD APPEARED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. DID NOT NOTICE ANY CHIPS BEFORE THE CRACKS STARTED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 10000 MILES ON IT AND THERE ARE 2 SEPARATE CRACKS. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE WHEN THE CRACKS APPEARED.
Mileage: 8,000
THE WINDSHIELD RANDOMLY CRACKED AFTER SPRAYING THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID ON IT. THE CRACK CONTINUED TO GROW BIGGER THROUGHOUT A COUPLE DAYS AND REACHED A LENGTH OVER 1 FOOT BY THE SECOND DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT WAS SPRAYED WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID.

BRAND NEW 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK WINDSHIELD MAJOR CRACKING DAMAGE FROM SMALL STONE IMPACT OR JUST A BUMP IN THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING? UNREASONABLE AND NOT RIGHT AT ALL.

WHILE HEADING HOME FROM A TRIP DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY 69 IN MICHIGAN OUR WINDSHIELD DECIDED TO START CRACKING. WE DID NOT HEAR ANY IMPACT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE OCCASIONAL BUG. OF COURSE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE IMMEDIATE RESPONSE WAS.A ROCK OR FOREIGN OBJECT HAD IMPACTED THE WINDSHIELD. WRONG. I HAVE ALWAYS FEARED WHEN GETTING HIT BY A ROCK THE WINDSHIELD WOULD CRACK. MY WIFE ACTUALLY WITNESSED THE CRACKING PROCESS THINKING AT FIRST IT WAS RAIN AGAIN HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. WITHIN 200 MILES THE CRACK ESCALATED FROM A COUPLE INCH CRACK TO ALMOST A 2 FOOT CRACK STARTING TO MAKE A U-SHAPE AROUND THE EYE-SIGHT CAMERA SYSTEM. I WOULD HATE TO THINK A BUG'S IMPACT WOULD CAUSE SUCH DAMAGE.
Mileage: 8,400
I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET WITH NO CARS AROUND AND MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED RIGHT NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER (BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD) AND IT GREW INTO 3 LONG CRACKS THAT ARE OVER A FOOT LONG. I HONESTLY DO NOT BELIEVE A PEBBLE HIT MY WINDSHIELD BECAUSE NO CARS WERE AROUND ME. IN READING ONLINE IT SEEMS LIKE MANY OWNERS OF SUBARU OUTBACKS HAVE HIT THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR WINDSHIELD CRACKING IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT.
Mileage: 11,000
SPONTANEOUS CRACKS APPEARED ON MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH 10104 MILES. NO IMPACTS HAVE OCCURRED TO VEHICLE OR WINDSHIELD. VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN CRACKS DISCOVERED. VEHICLE IS PARKED OUTSIDE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN VERY LOW MILES SINCE THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK. THE FIRST CRACK RUNS HORIZONTAL AND POSITIONED ABOUT HALF WAY UP WINDSHIELD AND A LITTLE LEFT OF CENTER (TOWARDS DRIVER'S SIDE). THE SECOND CRACK IS A CRESCENT SHAPED CRACK APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES BELOW THE HORIZONTAL CRACK.
Mileage: 10,104
MY WIFE AND I DRIVING HOME EASTBOUND HIGHWAY 50 AND NOTICED SMALL CRACK IN WINDSHIELD GLASS UNDER WINDSHIELD WIPER. NEVER HEARD OR SAW ANYTHING HIT WINDSHIELD AND THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES IN FRONT OR BEHIND US. I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES AND THE WINDSHIELD USUALLY WILL GET A SMALL DING WHEN HIT HARD BY ROCK OR PEBBLE BUT WILL NOT CRACK. THIS CRACK STARTED AT BOTTOM ON WINDSHIELD UNDERNEATH THE WIPER.

I PURCHASED A NEW 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK IN AUGUST 2019. A LARGE CRACK DEVELOPED IN THE WINDSHIELD IN JUNE 2020. I REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD. 10 DAYS LATER ANOTHER LARGE CRACK DEVELOPED ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THIS WAS REPLACED ON 7/2/2020. I HAVE SPENT ABOUT $1000 SO FAR ON WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENTS FOR A CAR THAT IS UNDER ONE YEAR OLD. *TR

IN SEPT OF 2019 I WAS DRIVING, HEARD A POPPING NOISE AND THEN WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR A FEW HOURS LATER SAW A 12 PLUS INCH CRACK FROM THE SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. BY THE NEXT MORNING IT WAS WELL OVER 24 PLUS INCHES. DEALER SAID SOMETHING MUST OF HIT IT. I CHALKED IT UP TO BAD LUCK AND PAID THE NEARLY $1,000 TO REPLACE AND RECALIBRATE IT. THIS PAST MONDAY MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR, NO DAMAGE IN THE WINDSHIELD WHEN HE LEFT. HE HEARD A SLIGHT POP AND WHEN HE RETURNED HOME A FEW HOURS LATER ALMOST 30 PLUS INCHES OF CRACKING. IT BEGAN AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. BOTH TIMES THIS HAPPENED WAS ON A HIGHWAY WITH NO OTHER CARS NEARBY. THE DEALER HAS EXAMINED THE GLASS AND TELLS ME THERE IS AN IMPACT THEY FOUND BY RUNNING A PEN DOWN THE CRACK. THE SUPPOSED IMPACT IS NO LARGER THAN THE TIP OF A PEN. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS GLASS. I DON'T BELIEVE THERE WAS AN IMPACT, BUT EVEN IF THERE WAS, SHOULD THE WINDSHIELD CRACK BEYOND REPAIR IMMEDIATELY. THIS CANNOT BE SAFE. I HAVE CALLED NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OPENED A CASE. *TR

RECEIVED TWO CHIPS IN THE WINDSHIELD - ONE IN THE FIRST TWO DAYS OF OWNING THE CAR AND ANOTHER ONE TWO WEEKS AFTER. BOTH CHIPS OCCURRED AT MODERATE SPEEDS - ONE ON A FREEWAY ENTRANCE RAMP AND THE OTHER ON A FREEWAY EXIT RAMP. THE CHIPS SEEMED TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED QUITE EASILY WITH MINIMAL IMPACT. THERE HAVE BEEN NO FURTHER CHIPS SINCE NOR HAVE THE EXISTING CHIPS BEEN REPAIRED OR CRACKED YET. *TR

SUBARU WINDSHIELD EASILY CRACKS. WITHIN A FEW WEEKS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, A CRACK FORMED BEGINNING AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND SPREAD DOWN. SINCE REPLACING THE WINDSHIELD WITH AN OEM PART, 3 MORE LARGE CRACKS HAVE FORMED. WHILE SOME HAVE BEGUN FROM A SMALL ROCK CHIP, THEY ORIGINATE FROM THE EDGE OF THE GLASS AND SPREAD INWARD. THE GLASS APPEARS WEAK AS EVEN THE SMALLEST CHIP WILL CAUSE A LARGE CRACK. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEN ANY DIFFERENTLY FROM CURRENT AND PREVIOUS VEHICLES OWNED YET THE AMOUNT OF CHIPS AND CRACKS WE HAVE EXPERIENCED IN THE WINDSHIELD IN THE LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF OWNING THE VEHICLE EXCEEDS THE AMOUNT OF CHIPS AND CRACKS WE'VE HAD IN THE LIFETIME OF OUR OTHER VEHICLES. *TR
Mileage: 500
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A YEAR THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND RAN ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. UNKNOWN WHAT CAUSED THE CRACK AS WE DIDN'T NOTICE ROAD DEBRIS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. THE 1ST TIME THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED TOP PASSENGER SIDE AND THE CAR WAS MOVING ALONG THE HWY AND WE NOTICED A RUN FROM THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD THAT RAN ACROSS THE PASSENGER SIDE. CAR HAD 4000 MILES. WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED. THE SECOND TIME, THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN WE NOTICED A CRACK AT THE TOP MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD THAT STARTED TO RUN ACROSS THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE CAR IS GARAGE KEPT. AN ASIDE WE HAD A SUBARU TRIBECA 2007 FOR 12 YEARS AND +200K MILES WITH ONLY 1 CRACK WINDSHIELD THAT NEVER RAN.
Mileage: 16,000
WE HAVE HAD OUR 4TH WINDSHIELD BREAK ON OUR 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. WE BELIEVE THESE TO BE SPONTANEOUS CRACKS, NOT THE RESULT OF A CHIP OR OTHER IMPACT. THE MOST RECENT HAPPENED WHILE CAR WAS PARKED (NOT A HOT DAY) OUT IN THE OPEN. *TR

I CAME HOME FROM WORK, WENT THROUGH THE CAR WASH, AND THE NEXT MORNING I HAD A CRACK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. NOTHING MADE CONTACT WITH THE WINDSHIELD EITHER ON THE DRIVE, OR AT THE CAR WASH.
Mileage: 20,000
LARGE WINDSHIELD CRACK APPEARED SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE CAR WAS PARKED AND GREW LARGER WHEN CAR WAS PARKED. SUBARU DEALER INSISTED IT WAS FROM AN IMPACT, BUT NONE WERE VISIBLE. DEALER SAID NEW WINDSHIELDS WERE THINNER AND MORE PRONE TO CRACKING AND I MIGHT HAVE IT HAPPEN ON A REGULAR BASIS. *TR
Mileage: 14,000
MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK'S WINDSHIELD CRACK WITH NO REASON, I PARKED THE VEHICLE MY DRIVEWAY ABOUT 3 PM WITH NO DAMAGE AND WHEN I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK NEXT DAY AT 5 AM I REALIZE THE CRACK. THE CRACK STARTED FROM THE LOWER PORTION OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AND IT GREW DAY BY DAY ALMOST REACHED ALL THE WAY TO THE OTHER END. I CONTACTED SUBARU CUSTOMER CARE VIA EMAIL ON 5/21/2020 BUT STILL GOT NO RESPONSE. I ALSO TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LOCAL DEALER IN TEMECULA/CA I ALMOST KICK OUT FROM THERE, AS SOON AS THEY SEE THE CRACK THEY DIDN'T WANT TO HELP OR GIVE ME INFORMATION. ALL I WONDER IS, IT IS BEEN COVERED BY WARRANTY OR HOW SHOULD I HANDLE TO REPAIR BECAUSE OF EYESIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 12K MILES ON IT AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
Mileage: 11,750
FRONT WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY. NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND CAR, NO BUGS HIT WINDSHIELD, NOTHING HIT FRONT OF WINDSHIELD. AUDIBLE LOUD "POP" THEN VISIBLE CRACK THAT STARTED FROM DRIVER'S SIDE EDGE OF VEHICLE EXTENDING HORIZONTALLY INTO DRIVER'S LINE OF VISION. DRIVER WAS STARTLED AND DRIVER'S VISION IMPAIRED FROM CRACK. VEHICLE DRIVEN LESS THAN 10 TIMES, PURCHASED ON 5/16/2020, STORED IN GARAGE AND COVERED PARKING STRUCTURE. *TR

I WAS RETURNING TO DRIVE MY CAR AFTER SITTING STATIONARY IN AN APARTMENT PARKING SPOT FOR TWO DAYS. UPON ENTERING MY VEHICLE I NOTICED A CRACK TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD ACROSS THE DRIVER SIDE EXTENDING TO THE CENTER. I INSPECTED THE OUTSIDE, WITH NO NOTICEABLE CHIPS OR OTHER ISSUE AREAS. THE CAUSE TO ME IS UNKNOWN.

MY CAR SAT AT HOME FOR 2 DAYS. I THEN DROVE 5 MILES AND PARKED FOR 2 HOURS IN A RESTAURANT PARKING LOT. AFTER 2 HOURS OF SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE BATTERY HAD DRAINED AND I HAD TO CALL A FAMILY MEMBER TO JUMPER CABLE THE CAR TO GET IT STARTED. I WAS SO DISTRESSED THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED AT MY EXPENSE. I THEN READ ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I AM REALLY NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING ANYWHERE AND HAVING THIS HAPPEN AGAIN. THE CAR HAS 32,000 MILES ON IT.
Mileage: 32,000
2019 SUBARU OUTBACK PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2019. I HAVE EXPERIENCED CRACKED A WINDSHIELD 3 TIMES. I'VE HAD 3 NEW WINDSHIEDS REPLACED. MY FIRST WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT WAS 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. TWO WEEKS LATER, THAT WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND WAS REPLACED. ABOUT 8 MONTHS LATER, THAT WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND I HAD IT REPLACED LAST DECEMBER. I DROVE FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS AS IT SLOWLY CRACKED ACROSS THE WHOLE WINDSHIELD. THEN IT WAS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE IT. THE FIRST TIME THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED, I WAS DRIVING AND THE DEALER SAID A LITTLE ROCK HAD HIT IT. ALL 3 TIMES, THE POINT OF IMPACT WAS POINTED OUT TO ME. THEY WERE VERY TINY SPOTS ON THE WINDSHIELD. WHILE DRIVING, I WAS NOT AWARE THAT ANYTHING HAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD. I FLINCH EVERY TIME AN AUTOMOBILE OR TRUCK PASSES ME ON ROADS OR THE FREEWAY I AM SO AFRAID THAT SOME LITTLE BIT OF DEBRIS WILL HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND CRACK IT ONCE AGAIN. I'VE REPLACED THREE WINDSHIELDS IN ABOUT 13 MONTHS.
I WAS IN WYOMING FOR A LITTLE TRIP AT THE END OF NOVEMBER. IT WAS ONLY 22 F OUTSIDE IN THE MORNING. CAR WAS ON A PARKING SPOT. I ALWAYS WARMING UP MY CAR BEFORE DRIVING. I DID PUT DEFROST ON FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, TO MELT DOWN LITTLE BIT OF ICE ON WINDSHIELD. WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR AND CLOSED THE DOOR, THE CRACK FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD ALMOST AT THE MIDDLE APPEARED. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER, THAT CRACK SPLIT IN TWO DIRECTIONS. AT THIS MOMENT, ONE LITTLE PROLONGED CHIP OF GLASS CAME OUT AT THE POINT OF SPLIT. I WENT TO ONE OF THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP WITH THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T COVER WINDSHIELDS, AND THAT I HAVE TO GO TO CAR GLASS SHOP AND DO IT ON MY OWN. SO, LATER ON I WENT TO ANOTHER SUBARU DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING, BUT ALSO, THEY WERE ASSURING ME THAT THE CRACK HAPPENED BECAUSE OF SOMETHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THEY DIDN'T EVEN WANTED TO LISTEN, WHAT I WAS TELLING ABOUT HOW IT HAPPENED. NOW I HAVING FREQUENT FALSE ALARMS FOR LANE DEPARTURE AND OBSTACLE ON THE WAY.
Mileage: 10,000
I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET, NOT FREEWAY. VERY CLEAN ROAD AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT ME NOTICING IT HAPPEN OR HEARING ANY OBJECT TOUCH MY WINDSHIELD. I HAD MUSIC VERY LOW, YET EHARD NO ROCK. WAS GOING ABOUT 35 MILES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT 40 MPH OR ABOVE, THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER DUE TO THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE VEERED INDEPENDENTLY FROM LANE TO LANE WHICH MADE THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT REACHED OUT TO CAPITOL SUBARU LOCATED AT (235 CHERRY AVE NE, SALEM, OR 97301, 503-576-3300) BY EMAIL BUT WAS YET TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE IN RETURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100. *BF*JB

ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN EARLY 2019, A SMALL ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. 1-2 DAYS LATER THE CRACK GREW LARGE AND THE ENTIRE GLASS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. RECENTLY THE WINDSHIELD WAS DAMAGED AGAIN WITH A SMALL ROCK WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND I'M AFRAID I'LL NEED TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD AGAIN. SUBARU FAILED TO DISCLOSE MATERIAL FACTS AND A SAFETY CONCERN WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ABOUT THE WEAK WINDSHIELD.
Mileage: 300
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY I'M JANUARY WITH FEW OTHER VEHICLES AROUND A CRACK STARTED TO GROW FROM THE LOWER RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT CRAWLED TO NEARLY 24 INCHES IN LENGTH. WE WERE NEVER HIT BY A ROCK OR ANY OTHER DEBRIS. THIS IS THE SECOND FACTORY INSTALLED WINDSHIELD ON OUR SUBARU. THE FIRST WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN JULY 2019. THE WINDSHIELD WAS STRUCK BY A SMALL ROCK AND CRACKED. WE HAD THAT WINDSHIELD REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP.

WHILE PARKED OVER NIGHT IN MY SUBURBAN BOSTON DRIVEWAY THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A FOOT LONG CRACK UP THE MIDDLE FROM THE BOTTOM EDGE
Mileage: 12,000
WENT TO GO START MY VEHICLE THAT IS PARKED OUTSIDE IN OUR PARKING LOT COMPLEX, AND IT WAS ABOUT 15 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND THEIR WAS FROST ON THE WHOLE FRONT WINDSHIELD. I OPENED THE DRIVER DOOR TO START THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS FROST ON THE BOTTOM HALF INSIDE OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AS WELL. ALL OTHER WINDOWS AND DOORS HAD BEEN CLOSED. I STARTED THE VEHICLE UP TO BEGIN DEFROSTING THE WINDSHIELD AND SCRAPED THE OUTSIDE FRONT WINDSHIELD. UPON COMPLETING THIS, THE FROST ON THE INSIDE WAS STILL THERE BUT SLOWLY MELTING AWAY FROM THE HEATER. WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 20 DAYS AND IT HAD 6,350 MILES WHEN PURCHASED. CURRENTLY HAS 6,940 MILES WHEN THIS DEFECT HAPPENED.

SMALL CHIP IN WINDSHIELD ON HIGHWAY TURNED INTO LARGE CRACK REQUIRING WHOLE WINDSHIELD TO BE REPLACED AND VISION SYSTEM RECALIBRATED.
FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED OVERNIGHT WHILE MY 2019 SUBARU WAS SITTING IN DRIVEWAY. CRACK IS AT LEAST ABOUT 18" LONG. IT MAY HAVE STARTED FROM A ROCK/PEBBLE HITTING WINDSHIELD WHILE ON THE ROAD, BUT I DIDN'T HEAR ANY ROCKS OR PEBBLES HIT THAT SIDE OF WINDSHIELD WHILE COMMUTING AND CRACK WAS NOT PRESENT PRIOR TO PARKING MY CAR FOR THE NIGHT. TEMPERATURE DIDN'T FLUCTUATE SIGNIFICANTLY ENOUGH OVERNIGHT.
THREE WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED.
Mileage: 2,000
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN CASTLE ROCK CO. NOTHING HIT BY WINDSHIELD OR ANYTHING. NEXT THING I KNOW. LARGE CRACK IS FORMING FROM THE BOTTOM LEFT OF THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE EDGE.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD A CRACK, THEN SAW A LARGE CRACK ON MY WINDSHIELD! AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED, THE CRACK CONTINUED TO SPREAD.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND A LITTLE PEBBLE HIT MY WINDSHIELD LEAVING A SMALL CHIP (SMALLER THAN THE SIZE OF A DIME). I PARKED THE CAR AND WITHIN AN HOUR, THIS CHIP KEPT GROWING INTO A LARGE CRACK. OVER ONLY A COUPLE DAYS IT HAD SPREAD TO CRACK ALL OVER THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD.
JUST PUT IN A COMPLAINT ON 3/6/20 FOR A WINDSHIELD PROBLEM ON OUR 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHILE DRIVING TODAY, FOUR CHIPS APPEARED ON WINDSHIELD AFTER DRIVING PAST WORK BEING DONE ON THE ROAD. DIDN'T EVEN HEAR OR SEE ANYTHING TOUCH THE WINDSHIELD. GOING BACK TO SAFELITE WHERE A NEW WINDSHIELD WAS INSTALLED LAST MONTH. THIS IS NOT A SAFELITE ISSUE, BUT A DEFECT IN SUBARU GLASS FOR THE OUTBACK. I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR 38 YEARS AND ONLY DROVE GM CARS BEFORE THIS AND ONLY HAD 1 WINDSHIELD REPLACED AFTER AN ACCIDENT NEVER BECAUSE OF A PEBBLE HITTING IT THERE ARE ARTICLES ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE GLASS ONLINE AND LAWSUITS, BUT SUBARU DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. MAYBE IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER LAWSUIT OR GET RID OF THE CAR NOW. CAN'T AFFORD A NEW WINDSHIELD EVERY MONTH.

ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2019, BETWEEN 3-4 PM, I WAS TAKING THE SUN REFLECTOR OUT OF MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WHEN I TAPPED THE REARVIEW MIRROR. SOON AFTER TAPPING THE MIRROR, I HEARD A LARGE POP FROM MY FRONT WINDSHIELD AND THE REARVIEW MIRROR FELL WITH A LARGE CHUNK OF GLASS COMING OUT WITH IT. THE HOLE DID NOT GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD, THE OUTERMOST LAYERS OF THE GLASS WINDOW WERE STILL THERE, BUT SEVERAL LAYERS WERE MISSING LEAVING A 2 INCH BY 2-INCH HOLE GAP ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON JULY 31, 2019, SO I ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE OVER A MONTH. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP/SALE PERSON THAT I HAD WORKED WITH RIGHT AFTER IT HAD HAPPENED AND THEY GOT ME IN TO HAVE THE ISSUED FIXED ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2019. HE AGREED THAT WHAT OCCURRED SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED WITH THE CAR BEING PRETTY MUCH BRAND NEW. WHEN I WENT INTO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE, THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT AWARE AT ALL OF ANY ISSUES WITH THEIR VEHICLES' WINDSHIELDS AND THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS EVER HAPPENING BEFORE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THIS OCCURRED. IT WAS A WARM DAY, WITH THE AIR TEMPERATURE WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED SITTING AROUND 91-93F ACCORDING TO THE KOUN WEATHER STATION. THE WARM TEMPERATURES MIGHT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PROBLEM WEAKENING THE POINT OF CONTACT WITH THE GLUE AND THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS SPECULATION THOUGH AND THE MECHANICS WITH THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT PROVIDE A SOURCE OR REASON AS TO WHY THIS COULD HAVE OCCURRED, SO THE TRUE REASON FOR THE INCIDENT IS UNKNOWN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD STARTED TO CRACK. THE CRACK STARTED AT THE BOTTOM SECTION OF THE WINDSHIELD UNDER THE WINDSHIELD WIPER AND EXTENDED APPROXIMATELY 30 INCHES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT GLASS REPAIR SHOP AND WAS REPAIRED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER REEDMAN TOLL SUBARU LOCATED AT (1700 EAST LINCOLN HWY, LANGHORNE PA) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.

I HAD BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER THAT WHEN RAINING THERE WAS A SECTION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WIPER THAT DIDN'T TOUCH THE GLASS TO CLEAR THE WATER. AFTER GETTING TIRED OF THIS, NEW WIPERS WERE PUT ON HOPING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. NO DIFFERENCE WAS SEEN IN THE REMOVAL OF THE WATER WHEN RAINING. IT SEEMS THAT THE GLASS WAS CONCAVED IN CERTAIN SPOTS CAUSING THE WATER TO POOL UNDER THE BLADE AND NOT BE REMOVED. A FEW WEEKS LATER, OUT OF KNOW WHERE, A SLIGHT MARK WAS NOTICED ON THE GLASS UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER. THIS VEHICLE HAS HEATED STRIPS UNDER THE BLADES TO DEFROST ICE. AFTER TOUCHING IT, IT DIDN'T SEEM TO BE CHIPPED. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I WENT OUT TO THE CAR, THERE WAS A VERTICAL CRACK IN THE GLASS GOING UP AND GREW VERY QUICKLY BEFORE I COULD GET TO A SUBARU DEALER. IT THEN TURNED DIRECTION HEADING TOWARDS THE DRIVER SIDE.

THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED OVERNIGHT WHILE IT WAS PARKED. STARTED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE, A LONG LINE OF CRACK WITH AN UNKNOWN CAUSE. IT ALSO HAS SEVERAL ROCK CHIP CRACKS ON OTHER AREAS. THESE DAMAGES HAPPENED ALL WITHIN ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP.

HAD TO HAVE MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED TWICE WITHIN TWO MONTHS ON A CAR LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. BOTH TIMES SUBARU AND THE GLASS COMPANY CLAIMED THAT THE CRACKS WERE DUE TO CHIPS IN THE WINDSHIELD WHEN THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OR DAMAGE, CHIPS, ETC PRIOR TO THE CRACKS. AFTER THE FIRST TIME MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED JULY 2019, I WAS VERY SKEPTICAL AND CHECKED MY WINDSHIELD EVERY NIGHT AFTER WORK TO ENSURE THERE WAS NO DAMAGE. ONE MORNING I WOKE UP TO FIND A LARGE CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD WITHOUT ANY PRIOR EVIDENCE OF CHIPS OR DAMAGE. ONCE AGAIN, THE GLASS COMPANY AND SUBARU CLAIMED IT WAS DUE TO A CHIP WHEN THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF SUCH FALSE CLAIMS. I ALSO HAD MY REPLACED WINDSHIELD CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES AT A SUBARU SERVICE CENTER DURING OIL CHANGES AND SERVICE APPOINTMENTS. EACH TIME THEY FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF ANY DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE GLASS COMPANY THAT REPLACED MY WINDSHIELD BOTH TIMES TRIED TO COVER THEIR [XXX] BY CLAIMING WINDSHIELDS ARE MADE THINNER THAN THEY USED TO BE, WHICH I FOUND QUITE SUSPICIOUS AS IF THEY WERE TRYING TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR HAVING TWO WINDSHIELDS CRACKED WITHIN 2 MONTHS. FIRST TIME WAS IN JULY 2019 AND THE SECOND TIME WAS SEPTEMBER 2019. BOTH TIMES I WAS FORCED TO PAY A $500 DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED AND MY EYESIGHT CALIBRATED TO THE NEW WINDSHIELD AS A RESULT OF POOR QUALITY GLASS AND REPLACEMENTS. BOTH TIME THE CRACKS WERE DISCOVERED WAS WHEN MY CAR WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT WITHOUT ANY PRIOR EVIDENCE OF ANY WINDSHIELD DAMAGE. THEY WERE DISCOVERED IN THE MORNING WITH A LARGE CRACK WHICH CONTINUED TO GET LARGER THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND ENDED UP TAKING UP A LARGE FIELD OF VIEW. PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITH A CURRENTLY OWNED VEHICLE (2019 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH EYESIGHT) AND A LOANER VEHICLE (2017 SUBARU FORESTER) FROM THE SAME DEALER ENDURED WINDSHIELD CRACKS, BOTH SPONTANEOUSLY. FOR MY CURRENT REPLACEMENT I PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE IT FIXED, FOR THE 2017 FORESTER REPLACEMENT I HAD TO GO THROUGH INSURANCE TO PAY THE FULL AMOUNT. FOR THE 2017 FORESTER WINDSHIELD INSURANCE CLAIM, THIS WAS PART OF THE REASON I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO RENEW MY PREVIOUS CAR INSURANCE, WHICH NOW COSTS ME SIGNIFICANTLY MORE, YEARLY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED THERE WAS A CRACK THAT DEVELOPED ON THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FROM THE TOP CURBING DOWN TO RIGHT BELOW THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. THE CRACK WAS NOT CAUSED BY AN OUTSIDE SOURCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (FARRISH SUBARU 10407 FAIRFAX BLVD, FAIRFAX, VA 22030 (888) 485-6484) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. WINDSHIELD CRACKED, VEHICLE WAS ONLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS OLD. WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE WE WERE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT - THE DEFROSTER WASN'T ON AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT TOUCHED THE WINDSHIELD. CAR WAS PARKED AND THE CRACK JUST FORMED SPONTANEOUSLY, 2 PEOPLE WITNESSED THE CRACK IN REAL TIME. STARTED VERTICALLY FROM THE BOTTOM CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD, WENT UP APPROXIMATELY 5 INCHES, THE SPREAD SIDEWAYS ABOUT 12 INCHES IN EITHER DIRECTION.

2019 SUBARU OUTBACK FRONT WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY DEVELOPED A CRACK FOR NO REASON. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, HOLDING A SMOOTH STEADY SPEED, AND WAS ACTUALLY LOOKING AT THE LOCATION WHERE THE CRACK STARTED. I HEARD AN AUDIBLE SHARP "CRACK" SOUND AND I SAW A 6" VERTICAL CRACK SUDDENLY APPEAR IN THE WINDSHIELD STARTING FROM THE BOTTOM MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE CRACK TO DEVELOP -- NO ROCKS OR PEBBLES HIT THE WINDSHIELD, NO OTHER CARS WERE NEARBY, AND NO EXTERNAL OBJECT CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE CAR. I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE CAR A COUPLE OF WEEKS EARLIER. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS, THE CRACK SPREAD SIDEWAYS LEFT AND RIGHT IN THE FORM OF A T. EXCEPT FOR THE INITIAL CRACK, WHICH HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, THE EXPANSION OF THE CRACK HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS SURE I WAS NOT AT FAULT FOR THE CRACKING, SO I WENT ONLINE TO SEARCH AND I FOUND PLENTY OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER SUBARU OWNERS (SEE HTTPS://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T82803_DS994225). THIS SEEMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM THAT WAS NOT DISCLOSED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE.

BACK IN FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY, I WAS COMMUTING TO WORK VIA INTERSTATE. THERE WAS A BUMP SINCE THE ROADS ARE UNEVEN AND GOING OVER THE BRIDGE, AS SOON I WENT OVER I HEARD A CRACK. I SAW THERE WAS A CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE TOP OF HOOD, UP TO FRONT OF THE REARVIEW MIRROR. SINCE THEN, IT SLOWLY GOT WORSE.

THE WINDSHIELD OF MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 50 MPH, WITH NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME OR COMING THE OTHER WAY. THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT HIT BY ROAD DEBRIS OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT. THERE WAS JUST A LOUD "POP". THE EYESIGHT FUNCTIONALITY IS NOW INCONSISTENT AS THE CRACK EXTENDED FROM 6 INCHES TO ACROSS THE WHOLE WINDSHIELD IN A FEW HOURS. THE TEMPERATURE WAS NOT BELOW FREEZING AND WAS ABOUT 45-50 DEGREES. THE COSTS TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD LIKE THIS ARE EXORBITANT BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE "SAFETY" FEATURES AND RE-CALIBRATING INVOLVED. I BROUGHT THE PROBLEM TO THE ATTENTION OF MY LOCAL SUBARU DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I INQUIRED ABOUT KNOWN DEFECTS WITH THE WINDSHIELD AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO DEFECTS WITH THE WINDSHIELDS IN THE SUBARU OUTBACK 2019.

I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WHEN A CHIP SUDDENLY APPEARED ON THE WINDSHIELD ON THE LEFT SIDE ON THE WINDSHIELD. I THOUGHT THIS WAS STRANGE CONSIDERING I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH A LARGE MEDIAN AND NO TRUCKS NEAR ME. OVER THE NEXT HOUR THE CHIP TURNED INTO A 6 INCH PLUS CRACK. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED UNDER MY CAR INSURANCE POLICY.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HEARD A LOUD CRACK. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT BECAUSE I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING AT THE TIME. A FEW DAYS LATER MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND HEARD A LOUD CRACK AND LOOKED AT THE WINDSHIELD TO SEE A CRACK FORMING ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. IT REACHED ALMOST TO THE DRIVER SIDE VIEW WAY. THERE WAS NOT A POINT OF IMPACT IT STARTED ON THE VERY EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD OUT OF SIGHT FROM INSIDE THE CAR. I THOUGHT MAYBE A ROCK CAME OUT OF NO WHERE AND THAT IS WHAT MY WIFE TOLD THE INSURANCE COMPANY WHEN WE GOT IT FIXED BY SAFELITE, THEN I SAW THE NOTICE ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELDS AND TOLD ME TO FILE THE CLAIM THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED TO US.

SEPTEMBER 20, 2019. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK SURROUNDED BY AN OPEN FIELD AND NOTHING ELSE. A SPONTANEOUS FAULT APPEARED IN MY WINDSHIELD. ON THE WAY HOME THE SAME DAY, A SECOND ONE APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE AND WITHOUT ANYTHING STRIKING THE WINDSHIELD. OVERNIGHT THE SECOND FAULT GREW LONG CRACKS FROM IT WHICH WE NOTICED. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING FAULT. I FEEL BADLY BECAUSE IT IS MY FIRST SUBARU PURCHASE AND HAVE BEEN MOSTLY DELIGHTED SO FAR. THERE IS NO IMPACT TO THE CAR'S WINDSHIELD, AND THE DAMAGE SPONTANEOUSLY APPEARED IN TWO PLACES JUST HOURS APART.
Mileage: 12,500
MY WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED STARTING UNDER THE WIPER BLADE, AT THE LOWER CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD, AND CRACKED UPWARDS ABOUT 5 INCHES, AND SPILT IN TWO DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. ONE LENGTH ABOUT 9 INCHES AND THE OTHER SIDE ABOUT 12 INCHES, AND THE CRACKS SEEM TO BE EXTENDING. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. AS I SEE IT, AROUND THE CRACK THERE ARE NO CRACKS, DINGS, CHIPS, OR ANY MARKS. THE LOOK OF THE CRACK DOESN'T RESEMBLE DIFFERENT SHATTER. MY CAR IS A 2019 VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS ABOUT 10,000 MILES SO QUITE NEW.

2019 SUBARU OUTBACK PURCHASED DECEMBER 2018, SAND STRIKE CHIPPED AND CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD WITHIN ONE MONTH. WINDSHIELD IS TOO SOFT AS I TWO PLACES THAT HAVE CRACKED AND ONE THAT CHIPPED. THE ITEMS THAT HIT THE WINDSHIELD WERE SMALL AND SHOULDN'T HAVE CAUSED THE DAMAGE THEY DID. I'VE HAD OTHER VEHICLES THAT WERE HIT BY MUCH BIGGER DEBRIS AND NO DAMAGE. WINDSHIELD IS SUBSTANDARD. ALL DAMAGE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I CAN PROVIDE PHOTOS BUT I DID HAVE SAFELITE REPAIRS TWO OF CRACKS.

I BOUGHT MY OUTBACK NEW AT THE END OF AUGUST 2019 AND SINCE THEN THE WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED 3 TIMES AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IT ALL 3 TIMES. I WAS DRIVING ALL 3 TIMES. TWICE I BELIEVE A PEBBLE HIT THE WINDSHIELD BUT THE THIRD TIME NOTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. LUCKILY WHEN I BOUT IT THE SALESMAN SUGGESTED I GET THE EXTENDED WINDSHIELD INSURANCE. NOW I KNOW WHY. THERE IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THESE WINDSHIELDS, THEY ARE DANGEROUS.
Mileage: 12,200
I WAS DRIVING INTO WORK ON A SMOOTH ROAD IN CLEAR CONDITIONS WHEN I HEARD A POP. WINDSHIELD HAD A LARGE STAR BUST AND CRACK SPREADING FROM THE CENTER. NOTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WEREN'T ANY EXTREME TEMPS (IT WAS ABOUT 60 DEGREES OUT) AND I DIDN'T HAVE THE HEAT OR AC ON.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON THE BOTTOM LEFT OR DRIVERS SIDE. THERE WAS NO IMPACT ON THE WINDSHIELD OF ANY KIND. NO TRAFFIC AND SMOOTH HIGHWAY. TEMP WAS AROUND 66 DEGREES. STARTED OUT AS A 5 INCH CRACK FROM THE BOTTOM UP AND HAD A VERY SMALL DIVOT. THEN SPREAD TO A 10 INCH CRACK VERY QUICKLY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID CRACK WAS CAUSED BY OUTSIDE FORCE DUE TO THE TINY DIVOT. THEY SAY THE ONLY WAY FOR A DIVOT IS IMPACT WITH A OUTSIDE FORCE. THAT IS NOT A TRUE STATEMENT. A SMALL DIVOT CAN OCCUR FROM A STRESS CRACK OF FROM SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKING. THE EYESIGHT TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT WORK WITH ANY OTHER WINDSHIELD, YOU MUST BUY THE FACTORY WINDSHIELD. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR WITH A SUBPAR WINDSHIELD. PLEASE HELP IN THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BEING IGNORED BY SUBARU. I HAVE ZERO CONFIDENCE IN THE NEW WINDSHIELD. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

2019 SUBARU OUTBACK 2.5I LIMITED PURCHASED 1-'19. 1ST. BREAK: 2-'19: WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED UNDER WIPERS AT THE WIPER DEFROSTER HEATER ELEMENT. WINDSHIELD WAS FROSTED IN AM, STARTED MOTOR AND DEFROSTERS TO WARM AND PREPARE CAR FOR DEPARTURE. WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE CAR WAS STATIONARY IN THE DRIVEWAY. MADE APPT. WITH SUBARU, THEY DECLINED RESPONSIBILITY UNDER WARRANTY AND ADVISED TO HAVE INSURANCE REPLACE IT. WHILE WAITING FOR SECOND APPT. WITH A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP A SMALL PEBBLE IMPACTED UPPER RIGHT CORNER SO I JUST HAD INSURANCE COVER IT AS IT WAS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH AT THIS POINT. (3/27/19 INSURANCE REPLACEMENT WITH ORIG. SUBARU WINDSHIELD- $500 DEDUCTIBLE, $225 EYESIGHT RECALIBRATION). 2ND BREAK: 6-'19: WHILE DRIVING 50MPH ON 2 LANE ROAD A GRAVEL TRUCK PASSING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION DROPPED A VERY SMALL PEBBLE THAT WOULD HAVE NOT BROKE WINDSHIELD ON MY TOYOTA OR MAZDA BASED ON PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN SIMILAR SITUATIONS. SMALL PEBBLE IMPACTED WINDSHIELD IN UPPER LEFT CORNER AND IMMEDIATELY SPREAD ACROSS AND DOWN IN SEVERAL SPOTS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT (6/10/19 REPLACEMENT UNDER 20/20 GLASS WARRANTY). REQUIRED ADDITIONAL 3RD REPLACEMENT AS SUBARU SUPPLIED DEFECTIVE RUBBER STRIPPING FOR SECOND REPLACEMENT. NOW WINDSHIELD AREA CREATES ADDITIONAL WIND/ROAD NOISE AND NEW RATTLE IN DASH AS RESULT OF 3 REPLACEMENTS. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE WINDSHIELD FIRST BREAK HOWEVER THEY WILL NOT UPLOAD. CONTACT ME IF YOU NEED THEM. THEY SHOW THE 'BURN MARKS' AT THE HEATER ELEMENTS.

I RAN SOME ERRANDS ONE EVENING AND PARKED MY CAR WITH A COMPLETELY CRACK FREE WINDSHIELD, AND WHEN I GOT BACK TO MY CAR, THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF IMPACT TO CAUSE THE CRACK.

WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL HIGHWAY CONDITIONS IN FAIR WEATHER, A LARGE CRACK APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, STARTING AT THE BOTTOM NEAR THE WIPER, AND EXTENDING APPROXIMATELY 10-12 INCHES CURVING UP AND TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS NO APPARENT IMPACT OR NOISE PRIOR TO THE CRACK APPEARING. THE CRACK COMPROMISES SUBARU'S EYE-SIGHT SAFETY FEATURE AS WELL AS THE INTEGRITY OF THE WINDSHIELD IN GENERAL, CREATING A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT(S). I HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH AAA PENDING SERVICE WITH SUBARU WHICH IS SCHEDULED ON 01/13/20 (ATTACHED CONFIRMATION FROM AAA)
Mileage: 5,000
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN 8/22/2019 AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE SITTING OUTSIDE OF OUR CARPORT ON 10/27/2019. THE CRACK EXTENDS FROM THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE ACROSS TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE MIRROR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. FEELING THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE IT FEELS LIKE THE WINDSHIELD IS UNEVEN ON TOP LIKE THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN STRESS ON IT.
Mileage: 1,500
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON THE BOTTOM LEFT OR DRIVERS SIDE. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO IMPACT ON THE WINDSHIELD OF ANY KIND. NO TRAFFIC AND SMOOTH HIGHWAY. TEMP WAS AROUND 30 DEGREES. STARTED OUT AS A 5 INCH CRACK FROM THE BOTTOM UP AND HAD A VERY SMALL DIVOT. THEN SPREAD TO A 15 INCH CRACK VERY QUICKLY. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH IN 24 HOURS AND THEY FILED A CLAIM WITH SUBARU. WITHIN 4 HOURS THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID CLAIM WAS DENIED. THEY SAID CRACK WAS CAUSED BY OUTSIDE FORCE DUE TO THE TINY DIVOT. THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME JUST UNDER $700. NOT BEING HAPPY WITH THAT I CALLED SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY VERY QUICKLY THREW $500 AT ME TO HELP WITH THE REPAIR. WHICH DOES NOT COVER THE ENTIRE COST OF THE REPAIR. THESE WINDSHIELDS SEEM TO HAVE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKING AND SUBARU IS BRUSHING IT OFF. THE EYESIGHT TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT WORK WITH ANY OTHER WINDSHIELD, YOU MUST BUY THE FACTORY WINDSHIELD. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR WITH A SUBPAR WINDSHIELD. I'M NOT CONFIDENT THAT THE NEW WINDSHIELD THEY ARE INSTALLING WILL BE SAFE. PLEASE HELP IN THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BEING IGNORED BY SUBARU. THE DEALERSHIP HAS THE PICTURES OF THE WINDSHIELD FROM WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN. I'M TRYING TO GET THEM, I WILL FORWARD THEM IF I GET THEM.

FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED, FIRST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. CRACK STARTED HALFWAY UP NEAR WHERE IT IS GLUED AND THEN SPREAD OUT ABOUT 2 FEET DIRECTLY IN THE DRIVERS VIEW, VERY MINOR IMPACT ACCORDING TO SUBARU DEALER. FOUR DAYS LATER AN OTHER CRACK STARTED HALFWAY UP ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE ALSO NEAR THE GLUE POINT AND THEN SPREAD OUT ABOUT 2 FEET DIRECTLY IN THE PASSENGERS VIEW. CRACK ARE UNRELATED AND ACCORDING TO THE DEALER BOTH WERE FROM MINOR IMPACTS ALTHOUGH I CAN NOT SEE ANY INPACT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. ALSO NEITHER CRACK WAS THERE WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED FOR THE NIGHT, BOTH WERE DISCOVERED IN THE MORNING.
Mileage: 12,000

I HAVE A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK PURCHASED DEC. 26, 2018. ON SEPT. 28, 2019, I NOTICED A SMALL STAR LIKE CRACK, ABOUT 3/16 THS OF AN INCH IN CIRCUMFERENCE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK WAS ABOUT ONE INCH IN FROM THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE ROOF POST. THE NEXT DAY, SEPT. 29, 2019, THE STAR HAD RADIATED INTO A CRACK WHICH RAN ALL THE WAY INTO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. AT THE TIME THE CAR HAD 4,615 MILES ON IT AND IT HAD NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD. I TOOK IT TO THE SUBARU DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND WAS TOLD THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS REFERRED TO A LOCAL WINDSHIELD REPAIR/REPLACEMENT SHOP. ON SEPT. 30, 2019 I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 395. I THEN HAD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE SUBARU DEALER TO HAVE "EYESIGHT" SYSTEM RE-CALIBRATED AT A COST OF $ 206. I DON'T RECALL THE WINDSHIELD BEING HIT BY ANYTHING ON SEPT. 28,2019 AND THE STAR CHIP WAS NOT THERE WHEN I LEFT HOME THAT MORNING.

WHILE STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT, ON A CITY STREET, THE REAR WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY BROKE. THE BREAKING WAS UNPROMPTED AS NO OBJECT WAS HEARD OR SEEN TO HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD; A REVIEW CONDUCTED BY THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES OF NEARBY CAMERA FOOTAGE CONFIRMED THIS AS WELL. THE SAME ISSUES NOTED BY MANY OTHERS IN THE THIRD CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST SUBARU REGARDING THEIR FAULTY WINDOWS EXACTLY DESCRIBES OUR SITUATION. THE LOCAL POLICE WERE CALLED ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT TO FILE THE REPORT. ADDITIONALLY, A CALL TO THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP WAS MADE, IN WHICH THEY STATED THEY WERE "UNAWARE" OF ANY ISSUES WITH THEIR WINDOWS. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR, CAUSING US TO PAY $837.99 OUT OF POCKET. DOCUMENTS CAN BE PROVIDED SHOULD THEY BE NEEDED TO FURTHER THIS COMPLAINT.

THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT ANY EXTERNAL EVENT WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED. THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THE WINDSHIELD SHEARED OFF COMPLETELY. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY, THIS OCCURRED DURING THE DAY IN MAY AFTER OWNING THE CAR FOR A FEW MONTHS.

I HAD A CRACKED WINDSHIELD AFTER LESS THAN 2 MONTHS OWNERSHIP OF MY 2019 OUTBACK. I CONTACTED SUBARU AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE IT WITH SUBARU PARTS, AND HAVE THE NEW WINDSHIELD SYNCED WITH MY "EYESIGHT" SO IT WOULD WORK PROPERLY. FRANKLY I COULDN'T AFFORD TO SPEND THAT KIND OF MONEY SO I JUST WENT AND GOT AN AFTER-MARKET WINDSHIELD. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT HAPENED, OUT OF NOWHERE. MEANWHILE I AM OUT ALMOST $400 FOR SOMETHING I THINK SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. I OWN 2 SUBARU'S ...BOTH 2019, AND FELT LIKE I WASN'T TREATED PROPERLY BY SUBARU.

I HAVE OWNED MY OUTBACK FOR 6 MONTHS. IN THAT TIME I HAVE HAD MY WINDSHIELD CRACK 2 TIMES WITH NO APPARENT DAMAGE. THE FIRST TIME WAS 2 WEEKS AFTER OWNERSHIP, DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, NOT IMPACT FROM ANYTHING AND IT JUST CRACKED. SECOND WAS TONIGHT, DRIVING HOME I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A LARGE DRIP, NEXT THING I KNOW MY WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED ON THE BOTTOM NEAR THE DEFROSTER. I LOOKED ALONG THE CRACK AND THEIR IS NO CHIP OR EVIDENCE OF IMPACT.
Mileage: 6,000
WE SUSTAINED A CRACKED WINDSHIELD FROM A SMALL STONE IMPACT WHILE TRAVELING AT 60MPH ON A MULTI-LANE HIGHWAY. THE ROAD AND WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE GOOD, WITH NO OBVIOUS DEBRIS ON ROAD, AND ONLY PASSENGER CARS IN FRONT AND NEXT TO US SUGGESTING STONE MAY HAVE COME FROM ANOTHER CARS TIRE TREAD. THE IMPACT LEFT A SMALL (~1MM) CRATER ON PASSENGER SIDE ABOUT MID-WAY UP AND ~2 INCHES FROM EDGE, BUT GENERATED A CURVED CRACK NEARLY A FOOT IN LENGTH (AND STILL EXPANDING) AND REACHING ALL THE WAY TO THE EDGE OF WINDSHIELD. I OWNED A 2007 SUBURU FOR OVER TEN YEARS PRIOR TO THIS VEHICLE AND SUSTAINED MANY MINOR GRAVEL IMPACTS ESPECIALLY POST-WINTER STORM AND NEVER SUSTAINED DAMAGE REQUIRING WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT. LIKEWISE WITH OVER 40-YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH NUMEROUS CARS I HAVE NEVER SEEN A WINDSHIELD FAIL GIVEN IMPACT BY SMALL STONE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE COMPONENT AND PRESENTS SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. THE COST FOR REPLACEMENT IS HIGH BECAUSE SENSORS REQUIRE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FROM SUBURU AND CHANCE OF SUBSEQUENT FAILURE IS ALSO HIGH GIVEN REPLACEMENT WOULD LIKELY ALSO BE DEFECTIVE.

BROKEN WINDSHIELD. THERE HAS BEEN NO IMPACT AND THERE IS NO SIGN OF IMPACT YET MY WINSHIELD ON A 5 MONTH OLD CAR IS CRACKED. ITS APPROXIMATELY 10 INCHES AND CIRCULAR FROM THE TOP DOWN BEHIND THE REARVIEW MIRROR. I NOTICED THE CRACK WHILE PARKED. POSSIBILITY AFTER GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH. ALSO THE HEAT FROM BEING PARKED ON THE HOT DRIVEWAY MAY HAVE BROUGHT OUT THE FLAW.
Mileage: 10,900
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED DURING THE YEAR'S FIRST FREEZE. CAR WAS GARAGE PARKED AND NO IMPACT OCCURRED. SUBARU PROVIDES NO SUPPORT FOR THIS ISSUE, SO I'M JUST GOING TO DRIVE AROUND WITH A BROKEN WINDSHIELD AND TAKE ON THE ASSOCIATED RISKS.

THE VEHICLE HAS HAD WINDSHIELD CRACKS APPEAR THREE TIMES IN THE SIX MONTHS WE HAVE OWNED IT (PURCHASED NEW). BOTH THE DEALER AND THE GLASS REPAIR SHOP INDICATE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL. IN THE FIRST TWO INSTANCES, THERE WAS A MINOR IMPACT WITH A SMALL PEBBLE OR BIT OF SAND AT CITY SPEEDS (LESS THAN 40 MPH) AND IN THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT, THE CRACK APPEARED SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT OBVIOUS IMPACT WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. NONE OF THE IMPACTS WERE SUFFICIENT, IN MY ESTIMATION, TO CAUSE DAMAGE SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF THE WINDSHIELD, BUT, IN ALL CASES, THE CRACK SPREAD ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD WITHIN MOMENTS. BASED ON OTHER REPORTS ON THE INTERNET, IT WOULD APPEAR THE WINDSHIELD ON THESE VEHICLES IS POORLY DESIGNED AND/OR MANUFACTURED, CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE.
Mileage: 8,000
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. IT WAS SNOWING, WE HAD THE WIPERS GOING AND THE VENTS TO DEFROST ON. ON OUR 3 MINUTE DRIVE TO WORK, WHILE WE WERE STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT THE CRACK FORMED, AND THEN SPREAD. IT COVERS NEARLY THE ENTIRE WIDTH OF THE WINDSHIELD. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS A WATER STREAK - BUT IT DID NOT FOLLOW THE PATH OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. WE DID NOT HIT A ROCK OR A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THERE WAS NO DEBRIS ON THE ROAD, THERE WAS NO HAIL, THERE WAS NO REASON TO EXPLAIN THE CRACK. WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE SUBARU DEALER WHICH WE PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY TOLD US THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER OUR WARRANTY AND THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW WINDSHIELD FROM SUBARU AND THEN HAVE IT INSTALLED BY THEM. WE NEEDED TO DO THIS SO THEY COULD RE-CALIBRATE THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM. I AM INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED THAT A 2019 VEHICLE REQUIRES SUCH AN EXPENSIVE WINDSHIELD REPAIR AFTER NO FAULTY DRIVING OR CLEAR INCIDENT THAT CAUSED DAMAGE. WE WERE QUOTED $1700 TO REPLACE AND RECALIBRATE.
Mileage: 8,000
I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND HAVE DRIVEN IT LESS THAN 6,000 MILES. IT WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH NO CRACKS OR DINGS IN IT AS OF TWO DAYS AGO AND COMING OUT TO MY CAR THIS MORNING THERE IS NOW AN 18 INCH HAIRLINE CRACK. THERE IS NO IMPACT AREA AND NO ROCKS HAVE HIT MY WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING IT. I HAVE TO BELIEVE THIS IS SPONTANEOUS BREAKAGE, ESPECIALLY READING THESE OTHER COMPLAINTS. THE WINDSHIELD HAS NOT BEEN TOUCHED AND THE WEATHER HAS BEEN MILD. THIS IS UNREAL.
Mileage: 5,600
THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED IN OCTOBER OF 2018 WHILE DRIVING ON I-64 ON MY WAY TO WORK. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED AND AGAIN CRACKED IN NEARLY THE SAME LOCATION IN DECEMBER OF 2018 WHILE DRIVING ON I-64. THIS WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED AND IN JULY 2019 CRACKED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON I-70.
Mileage: 800
WINDSHIELD IN MY VEHICLE CRACKED TWICE WITHIN 11 MONTHS OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE DUE TO LITTLE OR NO CAUSE. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE WINDSHIELD OUT OF MY POCKET.
Mileage: 2,000
WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES. FIRST CRACK OCCURRED 1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASE OF BRAND NEW VEHICLE. MULTIPLE CRACKS OCCURRED OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. LAST TWO SIGNIFICANT CRACKS OCCURRED WHILE CAR PARKED.
Mileage: 200
THE WINDSHIELD HAS TAKEN MORE ROCK CHIPS AND CRACKS THAN ANY OTHER WINDSHIELD I'VE HAD. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO HAVE MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED BY THEIR CERTIFIED GROUPS DUE TO THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM AND THEY WANTED ME TO REPLACE MY BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD FOR $1500. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR IN JULY. SEPTEMBER A ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND IT WAS ON A SUNDAY AND THERE WASN'T A REPAIR SHOP OPEN ON SUNDAY AND WHEN I CAME OUT THE THE CAR MONDAY MORNING IT SPREAD OVER 2 FEET. I'M RELUCTANT TO REPLACE SINCE I KNOW I WILL CATCH ANOTHER ROCK AS SOON AS I SHELL OUT WAY TOO MUCH FOR GLASS.
Mileage: 5,000
I WAS DRIVING MY BRAND NEW SUBARU OUTBACK 2019 WITH LESS THEN 1200 MILES ON IT AND I NOTICED A CRACK IN THE CENTER BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK WORKED IT'S WAY UP FROM THE BOTTOM. I DID NOT HEAR OR SEE ANY IMPACT TO THE WINDSHIELD. I IMMEDIATELY REPORTED THE ISSUE TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND SUBARU OF AMERICA (SR #:1-46794058270). THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY LOCAL DEALER WAS CONVINCED THE GLASS CRACK WAS CAUSED BY AN IMPACT AND SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT. I HAD TO GO THROUGH INSURANCE TO GET THE REPAIRS FIXED. THERE SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THESE WINDSHIELDS THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
Mileage: 1,200
I BOUGHT MY BRAND NEW 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK ON MAY 19, 2019. ON AUGUST 9, 2019 (82 DAYS AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE), I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH DOWN A SIDE ROAD WITH VERY LITTLE TRAFFIC. A TINY ROCK STRUCK MY WINDSHIELD AND IMMEDIATELY CAUSED A CRACK. WITHIN MINUTES THE CRACK EXPANDED TO MORE THAN A FOOT LONG. WITHIN DAYS THE CRACK EXPANDED TO BE MORE THAN TWO FEET LONG. I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED AT THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP BY A THIRD-PARTY GLASS REPAIR BUSINESS (THAT CARTER SUBARU OF BALLARD USES FOR ALL GLASS REPLACEMENT). AFTER THE PART WAS INSTALLED, SUBARU HAD TO RECALIBRATE THE EYESIGHT CAMERAS TO ENSURE THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT ($748.58) AND THE RECALIBRATION ($345.45) TOTALED $1,0494.03. I THOUGHT I WAS JUST UNLUCKY, HAVING CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD AND REQUIRED REPAIRS ONLY 82 DAYS AFTER BUYING THE CAR. THEN TODAY I READ AN ARTICLE THAT SAID THE WINDSHIELDS ON 2017-2019 OUTBACKS MAY BE DEFECTIVE. IF THIS IS THE CASE, I'D LIKE SUBARU TO PAY FOR MY WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT,ENT.
Mileage: 3,000
WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF DRIVING MY BRAND NEW 2019 OUTBACK, I HAD AN 10-TO-12-INCH CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. I AM AN INCREDIBLY CAREFUL DRIVER AND HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVING ON PAVED ROADS AT MODERATE SPEEDS. I ALSO WAS DRIVING A PASSENGER AROUND DURING THIS TIME PERIOD AND NEITHER ONE OF US HEARD A SOUND (E.G., A ROCK OR PEBBLE FLYING UP AND HITTING THE WINDSHIELD). I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE HOW I COULD HAVE GOTTEN A LARGE CRACK WITHIN THE FIRST TEN DAYS ON THE ROAD, ESPECIALLY SINCE NEITHER I NOR MY PASSENGER ENCOUNTERED ANY SORT OF ROAD CONDITION OR ENVIRONMENTAL/WEATHER CONDITION THAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED IT. IT JUST MYSTERIOUSLY APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD ONE DAY. I HAVE BEEN CONFUSED FOR THE PAST 6 WEEKS BUT THEN I HEARD THAT THERE HAD BEEN SIMILAR ISSUES WITH SUBARU WINDSHIELDS, AND I BELIEVE MINE IS SIMPLY DEFECTIVE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX IT, AND THIS REPAIR IS NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED 10-YEAR WARRANTY. THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP CONNECTED ME WITH SAFELITE, WHICH GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF OVER $1500 TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD.
Mileage: 100
I PURCHASED A NEW 2019 OUTBACK AT THE END OF MARCH IN 2019. IN MAY 2019, MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED, DIAGONALLY ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN JULY TO NOTE THE CRACK AND REQUEST THEY REPLACE IT SINCE IT SEEMED TO HAPPEN WITHOUT ANY IMPACT. THE CRACK BEGAN FROM THE TOP EDGE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM SUBARU OR THE DEALERSHIP.
Mileage: 3,500
I HAVE HAD 4 WINDSHIELD CRACKS ON MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK SINCE PURCHASE IN MARCH 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY ALL 4 TIMES AND WAS HIT BY A ROCK. THIS CANNOT BE NORMAL- I HAD A HONDA CIVIC FOR 7 YEARS AND 150,000 MILES AND NO CRACKS (EVEN THOUGH ROCKS HIT IT MANY TIMES).
Mileage: 18,000
THE WINDSHIELD OF MY CAR CRACKED BY ITSELF WHILE IT WAS PARKED AT THE PARKING RAMP AT WORK.
Mileage: 4,200
THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A LARGE CRACK STARTING FROM THE TOP-CENTER EDGE WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OR SIGNS OF IMPACT. THE CRACK WAS NOT THERE IN THE EVENING AND WAS OVER 6" LONG IN THE MORNING (VEHICLE PARKED IN FULLY ENCLOSED GARAGE OVERNIGHT).
Mileage: 3,000
WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH NO TREES OR CARS NEARBY, MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED FROM THE DRIVER SIDE ALL THE WAY TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE FOUND THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUES WITH SUBARU INVOLVING A LOST LAW SUIT IN 2018, AND A CURRENT 2019 LAW SUIT ON GOING. THERE ARE NEARLY 100 COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA.GOV, COUNTLESS ARTICLES, AND FORUMS FROM 2019 SUBARU OWNERS. IN ADDITION, MY REAR WINDSHIELD FLUID DOESN'T WORK. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ELECTRONIC ISSUES INCLUDING THE TOUCH SCREEN CONSTANTLY RESETTING, THE VOICE ACTIVATION TURNING ON BY SELF ITSELF, AND NOTIFICATION ALARMS GOING OFF FOR NO REASON (LIKE OBSTACLE IN ROAD WITH NOTHING THERE) JUST TO NAME A FEW. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM HELP WITH THE WINDSHIELD THEY WERE VERY RUDE AND DISMISSIVE, THEY WOULDN'T EVEN BEGIN TO LISTEN TO ME OFTEN INTERRUPTING ME WHEN I SPOKE AND REFUSING TO HELP ME WITH MY ISSUES. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTACT SUBARU DIRECTLY SINCE THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME. I AM BEGINNING TO WONDER IF I NEED TO PURSUE A LEMON LAW CASE OR IF I CAN ACTUALLY BE HELPED AT ALL WITH THESE ISSUES. I AM A LONGTIME FAN OF SUBARU AND WAS GREATLY LOOKING FORWARD TO OWNING MY OWN FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Mileage: 4,000
PURCHASED OUTBACK WITH 6K MILES 8/2019 HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 3 WINDSHIELDS 1ST WAS SMALL CHIP WHEN DRIVING THAT GREW ALMOST INSTANTLY TO APPROX 2 FEET AFTER 2ND REPLACEMENT DROVE HOME PARKED IN GARAGE WOKE UP TO CRACK ACROSS MIDDLE OF WINDOW ORIGINATING DRIVER SIDE A PILLAR HALF WAY UP WENT BACK TO SAFELITE THEY SUGGESTED TO CONTACT SUBARU . I FEEL THIS IS POOR QUALITY MATERIAL WINDSHIELD
Mileage: 7,500
WINDSHIELD CRACK APPEARED NEAR THE TOP, BY THE DRIVER ASSIST CAMERA. UNKNOWN HOW IT OCCURRED. OWNER ASSUMED CAUSED BY ROCK SLUNG BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT CRACK WAS NOT NOTICED UNTIL MANY DAYS LATER. INSURANCE REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD, BUT A SUBARU DEALERSHIP CHARGED $270 FOR EYESIGHT RE-CALIBRATION.
Mileage: 1,900
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. PARKED AT A CONVENIENCE STORE, NOTHING AROUND THE VEHICLE, CAME OUT AND NOTICED A CRACK FROM THE A POST INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. HAPPENED ON A SATURDAY, ATTEMPTED TO CALL INSURANCE COMPANY AND WAS TOLD I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY.
Mileage: 13,500
EYESIGHT WINDSHIELD BROKE WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY IN LIGHT RAIN. NO KNOWN CAUSE. CRACK CONTINUED EXPANDING FOR 2 DAYS IN WARM, DRY WEATHER. HAD WINDSHIELD REPLACED ON AN INSURANCE CLAIM WITH SAFELITE AND THEY ALSO CALIBRATED THE EYESIGHT CAMERAS.
Mileage: 1,185
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME, AND I HEARD A CLICK. I LOOKED AROUND AND NOTICED A 3' CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK HAS SINCE GROWN TO 24'
Mileage: 6,100
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A RAMP. THE CRACK IS AT THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE.
Mileage: 4,200
I GOT A BRAND NEW SUBARU 2019 SUV IN SECOND WEEK OF MAY 2019. CAR HAS AROUND 5500 MILES ON IT. WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK THAT I OBSERVED WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR NEXT MORNING. OVERNIGHT CAR WAS PARKED ON MY DRIVE WAY. THERE ARE NO TREES AND I DONT SEE ANY ROCKS HITTING. IT CRACKED OUT OF NO WHERE
DRIVING DOWN NORMAL HIGHWAY AND NOTICED A CRACK FORMING. WINDSHIELD CRACKED NEAR WIPER FROM MAYBE SOME ROAD DUST HIT IT THAT IS COMMON ON ANY HIGHWAY. NEVER HAD SUCH A BIG CRACK FROM NORMAL ROAD DUST BEFORE.
Mileage: 6,000
CRACK APPEARED ON WINDSHIELD WITHOUT ANY PRIOR DAMAGE TO THE AREA WHILE DRIVING. STARTED BELOW WINDSHIELD WIPER ON DRIVERSIDE AND CONTINUES FOR 24" ACROSS THE CENTER OF THE GLASS IN A CURVED 40 DEG ANGLE.
Mileage: 3,600
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUS CRACK UNDER WIPER DEICER CONNECTION VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY
Mileage: 5,000
SUBSTANTIAL WINDSHIELD CRACK WITH NO VISIBLE PREVIOUS DAMAGE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTDOORS AT APPROXIMATELY 2045 CENTRAL TIME ON 8/15/2019 FACING WEST. AT APPROXIMATELY 0900 CENTRAL TIME ON 8/16/2019 VEHICLE HAD A SUBSTANTIAL 7+ INCH CRACK DESCENDING FROM TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD DIRECTLY ABOVE AND DESCENDING VERTICALLY DOWN FROM NEAR THE DRIVER EYESIGHT CAMERA. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR FOR GLASS WHICH IS MEANT TO PROTECT THE DRIVER AND PROVIDE A VIEW PORT FROM WHICH MOST SAFETY SYSTEMS OF THE VEHICLE OPERATE.
Mileage: 2,500
WE HAD OUR FIRST SPONTANEOUS CRACK ABOUT A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING OUR OUTBACK IN NOVEMBER 2018. I'M NOT SURE WHERE IT HAPPENED BUT WE HAD NOT HAD ANY ROCKS HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED IT WAS A CHIP (THEY USED A BALLPOINT PEN TO INSPECT AND I BELIEVE THEY CREATED A SMALL CHIP ALONG THE CRACK LINE) BUT THEY REPLACED IT FOR FREE. THE SECOND CRACK OCCURRED ABOUT A MONTH AFTER THE NEW WINDSHIELD WAS INSTALLED. I WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME AND HEARD IT HAPPEN; THERE WAS NO APPARENT ROAD HAZARD THAT CAUSED THE CRACK.THIS TIME I DIDN'T ALLOW THEM TO INSPECT WITH A BALLPOINT PEN AND, SURE ENOUGH, THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS A SPONTANEOUS CRACK AND SUBARU REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD FOR US. THE THIRD CRACK JUST OCCURRED AND I BELIEVE IT IS ALSO A SPONTANEOUS CRACK THAT HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT. THERE IS NO APPARENT CHIP. ALL OF THEM START IN THE BLACK AREA BELOW THE WIPERS. I WONDER IF THERE COULD BE A DEFECT IN THE STRUCTURE OF THE CAR THAT CAUSES UNDUE STRESS ON THE WINDSHIELD. I WENT TO A LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AND THE FIRST THING THEY DID WAS GET THEIR BALLPOINT PEN OUT. I WILL WAIT TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR AND WILL ALSO PURSUE ISSUE WITH SUBARU CUSTOMER RELATIONS.
Mileage: 13,000
WE WERE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES PER HOUR. THE PASSENGER SLAPPED AT A MOSQUITO WITH HIS OPEN HAND AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITH A LOUD SOUND AND WITH A SPIDER WEB PATTERN ON IMPACT THE PASSENGER'S HAND WAS NOT RED, DID NOT HURT, AND DID NOT DEVELOP A BRUISE. THIS WAS HIGH IN THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER AND THE CRACKS ARE SPREADING ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. THE CAR IS A 2019 SUBARU AND HAS LESS THAN 9000 MILES ON. IT WAS PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 2018 AND WAS NOT DRIVEN DURING THE WINTER MONTHS THE WINDSHIELD WAS FREE OF ANY DINGS OR SCRATCHES. THIS IS BEING REPORTED BECAUSE OF OUR CONCERN THAT IF A SIMPLE SLAP ON THE INSIDE CAN BREAK THE WINDSHIELD, A ROCK THROWN BY ANOTHER VEHICLE COULD COME THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND HIT A PERSON. WE HAVE A WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT GUARANTEE SO THE WINDSHIELD WILL BE REPLACED AT NO COST, BUT WE ARE NOT COMFORTABLE HAVING IT REPLACED WITH AN ORIGINAL SUBARU WINDSHIELD. I HAVE PICTURES BUT I CANNOT GET THEM TO DOWNLOAD TO THIS SITE.
Mileage: 8,700
CAR WAS PARKED IN COVERED CAR PORT OVERNIGHT. IN MORNING, A HORIZONTAL CRACK HAD APPEARED IN FRONT WINDSHIELD. CRACK IS 18-24 INCHES LONG. RUNNING FROM PASSENGER SIDE PILLAR TO AREA NEAR CENTER OF WINDSHIELD. ABOUT 18 INCHES UP FROM DASH
Mileage: 1,713
SPONTANEOUS WINDSHIELD CRACK THAT ORIGINATED DIRECTING UNDERNEATH WINDSHIELD WIPER ON PASSENGER SIDE WHILE PARKED OUTSIDE. WINDSHIELD WAS CLEANED HOURS BEFORE CRACK APPEARED, AND NO IMPERFECTIONS WERE OBSERVED; VEHICLE NOT DRIVEN OR MOVED. GOT IN VEHICLE IN EVENING AND CRACK WAS PRESENT EXPANDING ALMOST THE ENTIRE SIDE OF PASSENGER VIEW.
Mileage: 6,300
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I CAME OUT OF MY HOME TO GET READY TO DRIVE WHEN I NOTICED THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. IT BEGINS WITH A VERTICAL SPLIT OF THE GLASS WITH NO SIGN OF A POINT OF IMPACT FROM DEBRIS. CAUSE: UNKNOWN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THAT I HAD NOT BEEN DRIVING NOR HAD A ROCK HIT MY WINDSHIELD. THEY SAID THAT IT WOULD TAKE THEM A WEEK FOR THEM TO GET A REP AND SERVICE MANAGER TO INSPECT. THE CRACK HAD SINCE GROWN BY THE TIME THEY SAW THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY TO REPLACE THE WINDSHEILD.
Mileage: 6,558
OUR NEW 2019 OUTBACK EXPERIENCED A WINDSHIELD CRACK WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ANY INDICATION OF IMPACT OF A FOREIGN OBJECT. THE CRACK APPEARED IMMEDIATELY AFTER TURNING ON THE DEFOG SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING. THE LOCAL DEALER INSISTED THAT THE CRACK WAS DUE TO OUTSIDE INFLUENCE AND NOT WINDSHIELD MATERIAL FAILURE. AFTER CONTACTING SUBARU OF AMERICA THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPAIRED AS A COURTESY AT THE DEALERSHIP.
Mileage: 7,000
SMALL ROCK HIT LOWER LEFT CORNER OF WINDSHIELD, APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES FROM EDGE. CONTINUED DRIVING. SUDDENLY, ENTIRE WINDSHIELD CRACKED ACROSS APPROXIMATELY 70% OF GLASS WITHIN 5 MINUTES, OBSTRUCTING VIEW. INITIAL IMPACT WAS TINY CHIP, BARELY VISIBLE WITHOUT CLOSE INSPECTION. NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, HIGHWAY, 60MPH, DRY ROAD & WEATHER, BEFORE SUNRISE. SINGLE OWNER VEHICLE, 10K MILES. COMPLAINT ALSO FILED WITH SUBARU.
Mileage: 10,000
PURCHASED NEW 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT AFTER JUST A COUPLE WEEKS A STRESS CRACK BEGAN TO FORM FROM THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD GOING DOWN. THE NEXT DAY IT WAS OUTSIDE ON A HOT DAY AND THE CRACK BEGAN TO GET WORSE. NO IMPACT ON WINDSHIELD FROM ROCK OR ANYTHING ELSE. MAY BE CAUSED FROM HEAT? VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN BOTH CASES.
Mileage: 600
JUST EXPERIENCED MY SECOND SPONTANEOUS CRACK WITHIN FOUR SIX MONTHS WHERE THE WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ON MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CRACK STARTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD BELOW THE WIPER BLADES AND THE CRACK EXPANDS UPWARD APPROXIMATELY 12-18 INCHES. IT IS BEYOND MESHY THESE WINDSHIELDS HAVE TO BE REPLACED SO OFTEN AND IT IS MY OPINION THEY ARE MADE WITH MATERIALS THAT CANNOT STAND UP TO DAY TO DAY TEMPERATURE CHANGES OF NEW ENGLAND. THE CAR WAS PARKED ALL WEEKEND AND HAD NO CRACK. HOWEVER, ON MONDAY MORNING, THE CRACK WAS THERE.
Mileage: 12,000
PLEASE REVIEW AND ESCALATE THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE SAME ISSUE RESULTED IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN CALIFORNIA. I PURCHASED MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK ON 12.31.18. AFTER WORK IN MID APRIL OF 2019, I RETURNED TO MY PARKED CAR. UNLOCKED AND ENTERED THE VEHICLE FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I LOWERED THE SUN SHADE AND NOTICED A LARGE CRACK IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. IT STARTED AT THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE GLASS ON THE DRIVER SIDE, ARCED UP AND CURVED TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. NO OTHER DAMAGE WAS NOTICED INSIDE. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND CHECKED IT FOR ANY ADDITIONAL DAMAGE AND CHECKED THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE OUTSIDE. THERE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY OTHER DAMAGE THAN THE CRACKED WINDSHIELD AND A MINISCULE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR DING. AS IF THE EDGE OF ANOTHER CAR DOOR CAME IN CONTACT WITH MY SUBARU. NO ROAD HAZARDS OR DEBRIS WAS ENCOUNTERED ON THE WAY TO OR FROM WORK. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP, HILEY SUBARU OF FORT WORTH, AND REQUESTED TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED DURING MY NEXT SERVICE APPOINTMENT INDICATING THIS WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT UNDER WARRANTY. AT THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT, THEY DECLINED TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD UNDER WARRANTY.
Mileage: 3,500
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW MARCH 2019. I DEVELOPED A CRACK THAT STARTED AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD, CLOSER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE, THAT QUICKLY SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE WINDSHIELD 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING AND WITH LESS THAN 6K MILES. IT APPEARED TO BE FROM A SMALL STONE CHIP. THE POINT OF IMPACT WAS VERY MINIMAL AND I HAVE HAD OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAVE HAD MUCH LARGER CHIPS THAT HAVE 'SPIDERED' BUT NEVER SPREAD AS RAPIDLY AS THIS CRACK ON MY NEW OUTBACK. I WORKED WITH MY INSURANCE TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED, TOTAL COST WAS OVER $800. I DROVE THE CAR 4 TIMES IN 3 DAYS AFTER GETTING IT REPLACED, ALL ON PAVED ROADS. THIS MORNING I DEVELOPED A CRACK AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE THAT QUICKLY SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE WINDSHIELD AGAIN. THEIR APPEARS TO BE A SMALL SANDSTONE CHIP THAT MAY HAVE BEEN THE REASON FOR THE CRACK. I AM TAKING IT BACK TO THE PLACE THAT REPLACED IT AND HOPING IT'S COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY OF THE RECENT REPLACEMENT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BY SUBARU BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE IT'S A VERY COMMON PROBLEM.
Mileage: 7,400
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AFTER LESS THAN A MONTH OF OWNERSHIP. IT STARTED FROM THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE BELOW THE WIPER ON THE HEATING ELEMENT. IT MANIFESTED ONE MORNING BEFORE I LEFT FOR WORK IN LATE MAY. MY DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO REPLACE IT, CLAIMING IT WAS A ROCK, THOUGH THERE ARE NO CHIPS OR SPIDERING. IT'S A SINGLE LONG CRACK THAT WINDS ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN I ASKED THEM HOW IT COULD HAVE BEEN A ROCK WITHOUT A POINT OF IMPACT, THE RESPONSE FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS "ROCKS CAN DO FUNNY THINGS." MY 2016 IMPREZA HAD ITS WINDSHIELD REPLACED WITH THIS EXACT TYPE OF CRACK UNDER WARRANTY.
Mileage: 8,500
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, PARKED AT MY HOUSE WHEN I REALIZED THE BACK WINDSHIELD WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. IT WAS STILL IN PLACE BECAUSE OF THE TEMPERED GLASS. I OPENED THE DOOR TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THE CAR AND THE WINDSHIELD FELL APART INTO MY CAR AND ON THE GROUND. UNDER 7000 MILES ON THE CAR.
Mileage: 6,000
WE WERE DRIVING OUR SUBARU OUTBACK WITH 1100 MILES ON IT ON THE HIGHWAY ON SUNDAY MAY 26, 2019 - THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC AND NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF US. WE NOTICED A CRACK IN OUR WINDSHIELD AND AT FIRST DID NOT THINK IT WAS A CRACK. WHEN WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION WE LOOKED AT THE WINDSHIELD - ONLY TO FIND WHAT WAS A 4 INCH CRACK. NOTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD IT JUST CRACKED. THE CRACK STARTED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD BELOW THE WIPER BLADE (AS OTHERS HAVE STATED ALSO) AT THE PRESENT TIME THE CRACK IS ABOUT 18 INCHES AND HAS GONE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD TO THE DRIVER SIDE AND HAS TAKEN A TURN NOW BACK TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. KNOW THAT OTHERS HAVE VOICED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE SUBARU OUTBACK FROM 2019 AS WELL AS EARLIER YEARS OF THE MODEL. FEEL AS THOUGH SUBARU IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE.
Mileage: 1,100
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED BELOW THE WIPER.IT STARTED DEAD CENTER AND CRACK SPREAD RAPIDLY.RESEARCH SHOWS OTHER SUBARU OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. SUBARU WILL NOT ADMIT TO A DEFECT. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. NO VEHICLE WAS IN FRONT OF ME

I TOOK DELIVERY OF A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK IN MID-JANUARY 2019. IN MARCH (03/12/2019) A SMALL ROCK HIT THE DRIVERS EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD RESULTING IN A LARGE CRACK. I WORKED IT THROUGH MY INSURANCE AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED BY A THIRD-PARTY INSTALLER WORKING DIRECTLY WITH THE LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP. AT THE TIME, I HAD ONLY 2K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IN MAY (05/09/2019), A SMALL ROCK HIT THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD AND THERE IS NOW A LARGE CRACK. THE WINDSHIELD WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 5K MILES ON IT. I'VE HAD TWO (2) BROKEN WINDSHIELDS BEFORE I HAVE EVEN HAD MY FIRST OIL CHANGE. MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE WAS A 2007 SUBARU OUTBACK. I DROVE IT FOR 12 YEARS AND 235K MILES AND NEVER HAD A CRACKED WINDSHIELD EVEN THOUGH IT HAD BEEN HIT BY COUNTLESS ROCKS AND HAD NUMEROUS CHIPS. TWO WINDSHIELDS IN THREE MONTHS SUGGESTS THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE MODERN GLASS THAT IS DESIGNED TO WORK WITH THE SUBARU EYESIGHT SYSTEM. I WROTE AND ASKED SUBARU TO REPLACE THE SECOND WINDSHIELD AS A WARRANTY ITEM BUT THEY DECLINED. BOTH INCIDENTS OCCURED WHILE DRIVING ON PAVED HIGHWAYS.
Mileage: 5,000
I HAD PARKED TRY 2019 OUTBACK FOR WORK ON A PUBLIC STREET. WHEN I GOT IN AFTER WORK AND CLOSED MY DOOR, THE REAR GLASS SHATTERED AND ABOUT 1/4 OF IT FELL INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR. I INSPECTED THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR AND THE OUTSIDE AREA WHERE IT WAS PARKED, LOOKING FOR SOME SIGN THAT MAYBE SOMEONE HAD TRIED TO BREAK IN OR VANDALIZED IT. I FOUND NO SIGN. I THEN PUSHED MORE OF THE SHATTERED GLASS INSIDE MY CAR TO IMPROVE THE REAR VISIBILITY, AND DROVE TO A GLASS REPAIR STORE.

2019 SUBARU OUTBACK PURCHASED 2/20/19; TOOK POSSESSION 2/22/19. ON 4/14/19 TWO VERY LARGE (18-24IN)CRACKS, RAPIDLY SPREADING APPEARED AS I STARTED UP MY VEHICLE. ONE CRACK STARTED ABOUT 2 IN ABOVE THE LOWER CORNER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS BEFORE THIS CRACK APPEARED, A VERY SMALL PIECE OF GRAVEL STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD IN THIS AREA BUT NO DAMAGE/CRACKS/HOLES WERE VISIBLE ON CLOSE INSPECTION FOLLOWING THIS. THE SECOND CRACK ORIGINATED APPROX. MIDWAY BELOW THE WIPER APPARATUS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THERE HAD BEEN NO ROCKS HITTING IN THIS AREA PREVIOUSLY OR OTHER DAMAGE. AGAIN, BOTH CRACKS STARTED AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IMMOBILE OVERNIGHT IN MY GARAGE; THE TEMPERATURE THAT MORNING WAS IN THE HIGH 40S (48F) AND IMMEDIATELY OCCURRED ON STARTING THE VEHICLE AND SPREAD WITHIN SECONDS TO 18-24 INCHES ARCHING ACROSS THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD. SINCE, THE CRACKS HAVE CONTINUED TO SPREAD APPROX 1-3 INCHES PER DAY. IN CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP, THEY DENY ANY ISSUES WITH SUBARU OUTBACK WINDSHIELDS. THIS IS UNLIKE ANY WINDSHIELD CRACKING EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD AND DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE DUE TO ROCK DAMAGE, OTHER EXTERNAL DAMAGE.
Mileage: 6,300
2 WINDSHIELDS HAVE CRACKED WITHOUT AN OBVIOUS CAUSE. OCCURRED AT 2,000 AND 7,000 MILES.
Mileage: 7,500
MY CONCERN IS WITH THE QUALITY AND SAFETY OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. I PURCHASED A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK ON 12/31/18. IT NOW HAS 3200 MILES ON IT. ON 04/17/19 I NOTICED AN 8-10 INCH CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS A VERY SMALL, BARELY NOTICEABLE, CHIP WITHIN THE CRACK. AT NO TIME DID I HEAR ANYTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. THEREFORE, A CRACKED WINDSHIELD WAS SHOCKING AND ENTIRELY UNEXPECTED FROM SUCH MINIMAL CONTACT WITH THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN THE CAR IS NOT IN USE IT IS GARAGE KEPT. MY COMMUTE HAS NOT CHANGED SINCE BUYING THIS CAR AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WINDSHIELD CRACK IN OVER 30 YEARS OF DRIVING. DUE TO THE SIZE OF THE CRACK, THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD MUST BE REPLACED AND THE SUBARU "EYESIGHT" SYSTEM RE-CALIBRATED. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT HAVE CRACKED IN THIS SITUATION. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH INDICATES THAT OTHERS HAVE CONCERNS WITH THE 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK WINDSHIELD.
Mileage: 3,200
ON 4/10/19 AS I WAS GETTING INTO MY CAR, I NOTICED A HUGE CRACK ON MY DRIVER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD THAT STARTS FROM THE BASE RUNNING TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT ON JAN 20TH OF 2019 AND HAS 4200 MILES. CALLED SAFELITE AND THEY ARE ESTIMATING $1300+ TO REPLACE.
Mileage: 4,200
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, SOMETHING WAS KICKED UP AND HIT THE WINDSHIELD OF THE VEHICLE. BOTH TIME AN IMMEDIATE CRACK WAS SENT THROUGHT THE WINDSHIELD. BOTH TIMES WERE ON AN HIGHWAY, TRAVELING ABOUT 45MPH. I HAVE HAD THINGS POP UP AND HIT MY WINDSHIELD IN OTHER VEHICLES AND MAYBE THEY JUST CHILL OR STAR . I FEEL THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN THE STRENGTH OF THE GLASS THAT IS USED, IN THIS VEHICLE I FEEL IT IS EXTREMELY WEAK.
Mileage: 7,500
I GOT A NEW 2019 OUTBACK IN DECEMBER. I HAVE BARELY DRIVEN IT. I FINALLY TOOK MY FAMILY OUT AND MY PASSENGER WINDOW CRACKED IN TWO PLACES WHILE WE WERE PARKED.
Mileage: 1,465
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD, UNDER THE WIPER BLADE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS NOT FOLLOWING ANY VEHICLES SO A ROCK CHIP COULD NOT BE THE CAUSE. THIS IS POOR WINDSHIELD QUALITY AND DESIGN BY SUBARU.
Mileage: 750
THE CAR WAS NOT USED OVER THE WEEKEND EXCEPT FOR A 5 MILE TRIP TO CHURCH WHERE IT DID NOT ENCOUNTER ANY ROCKS, HITS, ETC. DROVE HOME AND THE CAR WINDSHIELD WAS FIND. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I GOT INTO THE CAR, AFTER I USED MY REMOTE TO START AND WARM UP MY OUTBACK, THERE WAS ABOUT AN 8-10 INCH CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT ORIGINATED FROM BEYOND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THE CRACK GREW WORSE TO ABOUT 12 INCHES. CALLED SUBARU DEALER WHO DIRECTED ME TO THEIR WINDSHIELD SERVICE AGENT. TOOK TIME OFF FROM WORK AND THEY INSTALLED OEM GLASS (INSURANCE COVERS THIS) AND CALIBRATED THE WINDSHIELD. AFTER DRIVING HOME, THE CAR MADE WIND TUNNEL NOISES, WINDSHIELD FLUID SYSTEM DID NOT WORK, NAVIGATION DID NOT WORK SO I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER (TOOK MORE TIME OFF FROM WORK). THEY FOUND A LEAK IN THE WINDSHIELD, REPAIRED THE FLUID UNIT AND IGNORED THE NAVIGATION ISSUE. THEY SENT ME BACK TO THEIR AGENT. THEY TOOK OUT THE WINDSHIELD REPOSITIONED IT AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. TODAY I FOUND PUDDLES OF WATER ON THE FLOOR OF MY CAR (LEAK), NAVIGATION DOES NOT WORK AND WIND TUNNEL NOISE IS STILL THERE. THIS WINDSHIELD IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AS EXTRA SUPPORT FOR THE ROOF, PREVENTION OF OBJECTS FLYING AT YOU AND ALLOW FOR THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM TO DO ITS JOB. THIS CAR IS ONE MONTH OLD AND THE CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD EXPERIENCE SOUNDS EERILY SIMILAR TO OTHERS' COMPLAINTS. WHEN YOU PAY THE MONEY FOR A TOP SAFETY PICK, YOU WANT THE SAFETY AND I DO NOT HAVE IT.
