LEFT REAR WHEEL BEARING COMPLETELY DEFECTIVE - HAVE HAD REPLACED. WHEN FIRST STARTING THE CAR, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT OPERATE UNTIL THE CAR HAS WARMED UP AT LEAST 5 MINUTES. ENGINE SOMETIMES DIES WHEN CAR IS PUT INTO REVERSE GEAR. GEARS CHANGE WITH A JOLT AND CAR JERKS WHEN TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS. TRUNK LATCH IS INOPERATIVE FROM DRIVER'S SIDE CONTROL. BRAKES "CATCH AND RELEASE" WHEN APPLIED.

TRANSIMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT DUE TO METAL PARTICLES BEING FOUND IN FLUID. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL CAR. PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL BEARING HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT STARTED MAKING A SCRAPPING NOISE AND THE CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE AT THAT POINT.

MY CAR HAS HAD REPEATED DEFECTS EFFECTING THE TRANSMISSION AND FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS. THE REPAIR COST FOR THE TRANSMISSION EXCEEDES $3000. AND THE BEARINGS COST $400. EA. THIS MANUFACTURES DEFECT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED, AND THE MANUFACTURER, SUBARU OF AMERICA HAS FAILED TO REPAIR THE DEFECT.
