THE ENGIN MALFUNCTIONED. MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS WAS AT RISK BECAUSE WHEN AN ENGIN FAILS WHILE DRIVING IT CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH. THE VALVE SPRING WHICH IS LOCATED INSIDE THE ENGIN OF THE VEHICLE DID FRACTURE WHICH RESULTED IN THE ENGIN STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND WAS NOT ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. AN ENGIN STALL WHILE DRIVING WILL INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH AND SERIOUS INJURY. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS, THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY A SUBARU DEALER SERVICE MANAGER.

The recall Type: Safety Service Campaign:WTY84 NHTSA Campaign: 18V772000 FB20 Valve Spring Replacement was reported completed by the manufacturer Subaru has no record of it being done. My car is now experiencing symptoms of this recall when I had no issues prior and want me to pay to look into the problem further. Now my vehicle has a check engine light for a recall that was potentially not done as I have no proof that it was completed.

MY 2013 SUBARU CROSSTREK stalled on the highway in March 2023 while I was driving home from work. I brought it to Hassett Subaru in Wantagh because a friend told me that there was a recall on the spring valve (from 5 years ago, which I was never notified of). Vlad Oriol wanted to charge me a few thousand dollars to breakdown the engine, even though that was a requirement of the recall. I checked the VIN and found out my car was covered by the spring valve recall. Since the car was unsafe to drive, I then called Subaru headquarters who sent a tech supervisor to investigate the situation. The tech supervisor said the problem was due to the recall so the engine breakdown was covered. The tech supervisor said the "rocker arm had come loose from excessive lash, but was tied to the recall issue," and also added that there was no other damage. Hassett Subaru was forced by Subaru headquarters to preform the recall fix. I picked up my car (we live 2 miles from Hassett) and the very next day the car wouldn't accelerate and was constantly misfiring. I brought the car back to Hassett. The tech supervisor came out again to investigate, this time there was additional damage to the cam shaft (which was not there before Hassett worked on the car). Hassett told Subaru headquarters that there was a preexisting issue with the car (which was totally false). As a result Subaru headquarters would not cover the cost to fix the problem that Hassett caused by attempting to fix the recall issue. Thanks to Hassett's misrepresentations to Subaru headquarters we have a car that doesn't run and can't afford a new one.

Driving on the freeway my car lost power i pulled off to the side and tried to restart it. As I have the ignition turned over for 30 to 40 seconds the starter sounded erratic and the oil temperature light was flashing. I sat there for about ten minutes and tried again and it did the same thing but it started. This power loss has happened twice. The erratic noise coming from the ignition, and the hesitation of starting is a regular ongoing issue along with the oil temperature light. Since the first stall at about 117000 miles on the odometer the car has been burning oil at a rate of a full quart about every 3000 miles. #2 Around 120000 miles my key wouldn't come out of the ignition. This happened first on a late night in a high crime area. I actually had to leave my keys in my ignition while going into a gas station to pay for fuel. Since then this happens every time I turn off my vehicle and put it into the park position. Usually I have to wait around ten minutes to be able to remove the keys. Both of these issues cause a great deal of anxiety on the freeway or having to leave the key in the ignition.

Whilst driving down Highway 101 near Sequim WA, I was on cruise control doing 55 MPH going up a steep hill which I have done numerous times before without issue. When all of a sudden the car suddenly slowed down, for me to hear honking from a Semi behind me who had to suddenly swerve to go around us to stop him from rear ending me (luckily that part of the road on the hill had a second lane for the truck to use, if not then me and my son would probably be seriously injured or dead.) I looked at the dashboard to find the engine warning light on, and the cruise control flashing, but the car was still running and drove fine with the accelerator pressed. Later on I found out this error code was P0024. When that issue happened, not only had the engine warning light illuminated, it caused not only the cruise control to disengage (without my input) but also for the vehicle stability control to stop working. Once again though the engine was still running file and in my opinion it disabling the cruise and stability control gravely endangered the occupants when it had no reason to disable them. Since then I have had other similar error codes such as P000D which have cause the same thing, but they happened on level ground so the car did not slow down so suddenly. I believe the issue is low or used engine oil, as when I got an oil change (within service life) the issues seems to have gone away; this has happened many times before. These PZEV vehicles not only in my opinion break EPA laws on emissions as they make the car burn through many quarts of oil in the service life, so how Subaru can claim PZEV when exchanging high RPS and a boat load of oil for some if any PZEV's I do not know. My car has two recalls, I have been urgently trying to get these fixed, but my two local dealerships (both 50 miles away) refuse to do the recalls as I filed a lemon complaint, and BBB complaint as one refused to honor a price match for thousands to me. I am a disabled Veteran and need car.

On October 31 2020, The AC compressor on my vehicle caught fire while I was driving. This caused a foul odorous smoke to fill the cabin of my vehicle which was cough inducing and limited my vision. The air conditioner was not on at this time because of pleasant ambient temperatures outside. I no longer have this part because it was replaced at the dealership along with the serpentine belt that was damaged due to the fire. There was no warning light or noticeable change in the vehicle driving before the incident. I was unaware that I could report this incident until I found this website today.

SLOW STARTING WHEN TURNING OVER FROM STOP/PARK/COLD/HOT. EXCESSIVE OIL USE AFTER EACH 3,000 MILES. NO LIGHT WARNING FOR LOW OIL DISPLAYS. ENGINE BOGS OR ALMOST STALLS WHEN GIVING GAS. USUALLY WHEN AIR CONDITIONING IS RUNNING. THIS STARTED TO OCCUR AFTER I HAD THE VALVE SPRING RECALL TAKEN CARE OF. AND ALL IGNITION COILS REPLACED. THE IGNITION COILS CAUSED EXCESSIVE STALLING DOWNHILL TO UPHILL AT VARIOUS SPEEDS YET USUALLY OCCURRED WHEN APPLYING GAS FROM SLOW TO MID-SPEED WHEN APPLYING GAS. MY THOUGHT WERE IT WAS DUE TO THE RECALL BUT EVIDENTLY HAD NOT RELATION. AS PER SUBARU DEALER ON MAUI. REAR WHEEL BEARING REPEATEDLY REPLACE. 3 TIMES IN ONE 1 AND A HALF YEARS. START WITH WITH WINDING NOISE THEN GETS WORSE VERY QUICKLY. WITHIN 1 TO 2 MONTHS. FELT /FEELS VERY UNSAFE. DRIVING AT SLOWER SPEED OKAY AT THE RANGE OF 45-60 MPH NOISE IS VERY PREDOMINATE. THUS REQUIRING TO DRIVE AT SLOWER SPEEDS THAN REQUIRED, I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED. IN THE COURSE OF LESS THAN 2 YEARS I HAVE HAD ALL THESE ISSUES. ALL THESE ISSUES WHERE IN THE COURSE OF BETWEEN 2018 AND 2020.

AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP FOR VALVE SPRING RECALL, SERVICE REP ALSO SUGGESTED OIL CHANGE AT SAME TIME. I AGREED. AS SOON AS I DROVE IT OFF THE DEALERSHIP LOT, CHECK OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED CAR TO HAVE IT CHECKED BUT DEALERSHIP SAID OIL WAS FULL, PROBABLY FAULTY SENSOR AND SENT ME AWAY WITHOUT FULLY CHECKING THE CAR. CHECK OIL LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY LIGHT UP WHEN DRIVING LOCALLY. THEN ENGINE TAPPING SOUND AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED A FEW WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING LOCALLY BUT INDICATOR LIGHTS WOULD TURN OFF FOR SHORT PERIODS IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING CAR, OR WHILE DRIVING UP OR DOWN STEEP INCLINES. LOCAL MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT OIL PRESSURE WAS LOW AND RECOMMENDED TAKING IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP. ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IS NOW DISASSEMBLING THE ENGINE AND RECOMMENDING A NEW ENGINE AS OIL PRESSURE IS LOW AND NOT CIRCULATING PROPERLY AFTER VALVE SPRING RECALL REPAIR.

MY SUBARU DEALER COMPLETED 2 RECALL ITEMS ON 7/24/2019 - 8/1/2019 ON MY 2013 SUBARU CROSSTREK.THE ENGINE VALVE SPRINGS AND BREAK LIGHT SWITCH. AFTER WORK WAS COMPLETED, ON 8/1/2019 I HAD MY BUMPER REPLACED FROM A REAR-END ACCIDENT I EXPERIENCED ON 7/16 (POSSIBLE BREAK LIGHT SWITCH MALFUNCTION-- IT WAS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED IN THIS CAR SINCE PURCHASE). 8/7/2019 I PICKED UP MY CAR FROM THE AUTOBODY SHOP AND DROVE 2 MI. HOME AND PARKED WITH NO ISSUE. 8/8/2019 I DROVE 35 MI. ONE WAY TO WORK WITHOUT INCIDENT... **RETURNING HOME, I DROVE ROUGHLY 25-MILES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 45-70MPH, AND 5-MILES IN LIGHT, STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC. 30-MILES INTO MY TRIP AT AROUND 5-15MPH MY CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE, I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, TRAVELING SLOWLY, TRYING TO DISCERN IF THE SHAKING WAS COMING FROM MY CAR OR FROM ONE OF MY TIRES. ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL OF MY ERROR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON MY DASHBOARD AND MY ENGINE LOST POWER AND STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY (THE LIGHTS AND STEREO WERE STILL ON). I WAS ALONE AND SCARED AND DIDN'T WANT TO SIT ON THE HIGHWAY, SO I RESTARTED MY ENGINE AND DROVE THE SHOULDER TO TRY TO REACH THE DEALERSHIP (.5 MI. AWAY) MY CAR CONTINUED TO SHAKE, HAVE NO POWER AND STALLED ANOTHER THREE TIMES AS DROVE TO REACH IT. THE DEALERSHIP DID A DIAGNOSTIC BLAMED THE "ENGINE STALL-OUT" I EXPERIENCED ON MY BUMPER REPLACEMENT, AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $889.00 TO FIX, WHICH IS [XXX]! THIS ENGINE STALL FROM THE RECALL REPAIR PUT ME IN EXTREME DANGER, I WAS ALONE AND TERRIFIED WHEN IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, AND NOW I AM BEING RIPPED OFF BY THE COMPANY IN CHARGE OF FIXING IT. THIS OCCURRED 2 MONTHS AGO AND I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ANY OF THE DEALERS. I BELIEVE THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE NOT ACTED PROPERLY TO REMEDY THE ISSUE IN A TIMELY MANNER, WHICH IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AS I DRIVE THE VEHICLE DAILY.

SUBARU SENT OUT A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE RECALL # WTY-84 IN THE LETTER THEY STATE THAT THE ENGINE MAY STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSING AN INCREASED RISK OF A CRASH. WHEN I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME THE FIRST APPOINTMENT THEY HAVE TO RESOLVE THIS WAS ON FEB 12, 2020. FINDING THIS COMPLETELY UNSATISFACTORY FOR A COMPANY TO EXPECT ITS CUSTOMERS TO DRIVE A CAR THEY ARE TELLING US IS A DEATH TRAP. I CALLED MAIL OFFICE SUBARU TO ASK WHAT THE SITUATION WAS. THEY CLAIMED THAT ANOTHER DEALER IN MY AREA WAS ABLE TO SCHEDULE FOR THIS MARCH/APRIL THEY ALSO STATED THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO RENT A VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE UNTIL MY CAR WAS REPAIRED IF I WAS NOT FEELING GOOD ABOUT DRIVING IT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS NOT THE CASE - THEY HAVE 100 PEOPLE ON THEIR WAITING LIST AND NO PARTS ARE EVEN AVAILABLE LET FROM SUBARU TO START FIXING ANY CARS - AND THEY DO NOT HAVE A PROGRAM TO GIVE ANY ONE RENTAL CARS WHILE WE WAIT. EVEN IF I NOW WANTED TO TRADE MY CAR I COULD NOT AS NO OTHER COMPANY IS TO BUY A CAR FROM ME THAT HAS A RECALL ON IT THAT CANNOT BE FIXED FOR A YEAR AND IS A DEATH TRAP.

THE OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILUMINATED. I STOPPED AND ADDED OIL. THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM WHICH IS CAUSING ME TO ADD A QUART OF OIL ONCE PER WEEK. THE DEALER HAS A FIX BUT ONLY FOR VEHICLES UNDER WARRANTY AND SINCE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, I'LL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. FROM ONLINE SEARCHES, THIS IS AN ISSUE AFFECTING MANY CARS. THE COST, FOR ME, WILL BE IN THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.

LOW OIL LIGHT DOES NOT ALWAYS ILLUMINATE, CAUSING SAFETY HAZARD OF BLOWING MOTOR DUE TO UNREASONABLY FAST OIL CONSUMPTION AND OWNER NOT BEING AWARE OF PROBLEM. CAR HAS 42000 MILES ON IT AND THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT DEALERSHIP/SUBARU ARE NEGLECTING TO PROPERLY FIX.

MY 2013 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK IS BURNING OIL. AT THE TIME THAT THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR HAD 43,675 MILES ON IT. I JUST READ WHERE SOMEONE ELSE IS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW 2 YEARS AGO AND FEEL THAT A NEW CAR SHOULD NOT BE BURNING OIL.

MY 2013 SUBARU CROSSTREK XV HAS BEEN BURNING OIL SINCE NEW. THE DEALER, AND SUBARU, HAVE DONE NOTHING TO HELP FIX THE ISSUE. CURRENTLY ITS BURNING A QUART OF OIL EVERY 2000-3500 MILES. THIS CAN'T BE RIGHT BUT SUBARU TELL ME THAT IT IS OK FOR THE CAR TO "CONSUME" A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1200 MILES. *TR

THE VEHICLE HAS A CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION. WHEN APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL AND THEN THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SLOW DOWN. WHEN THE ENGINE RPM'S REACH AROUND 1400 RPM THE VEHICLE QUITS SLOWING DOWN AND CONTINUES FORWARD AT WHAT EVER SPEED IT IS AT. THE CAR MAY NOT BE ACCELERATING BUT IT FEELS LIKE IT IS BECAUSE IT QUITS SLOWING DOWN. IF I TOUCH THE BRAKE A BIT THE ENGINE AGAIN SLOWS DOWN UNTIL IT REACHES THE IDLE RPM OF ABOUT 750. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD TO QUICKLY HIT THE BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FROM OF ME. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MINNESOTA AND NOTICED THE PROBLEM WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK BUT DIDN'T PURSUE IT UNTIL I GOT TO TEXAS AS THIS IS WHERE THE VEHICLE WILL BE KEPT. THE TEXAS SUBARU SERVICE FOUND NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES AND DROVE THE VEHICLE WITH ME AND NOTICED WHAT I DID. THE TEXAS SUBARU SERVICE MANAGER HAD ME DRIVE A 2014 AND IT DOES THE SAME THING BUT SEEMS TO START SLOWING DOWN AGAIN ONCE IT HAS DONE THE ACCELERATION AT 1400 RPM FOR A SECOND OR TWO. THEY OPENED A TECH LINE CASE FILE BUT SAY THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, MAYBE NOT FOR ME AS I NOW KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHENEVER SLOWING DOWN, BUT CERTAINLY FOR OTHERS. *TR
