VEHICLE HAS ODOR OF SMOKE OR UNKNOWN SMELL ADVISED SUZUKI WHO REFERRED ME TO SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT HANDLE REPAIRS. I ADVISED THEM I WORK FOR AN AUTO BODY WHO STATES VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE- PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT IS ALSO ON. RECALL NOTICE ADVISES OF SIGNIFICANT RISK OF FIRE. STEERING COLUMN LOOKS TO BE WARPED AND IGNITION SWITCH IS NOT WORKING.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY THE LIGHT FOR THE ENGINE CAME ON AND THE CAR DIED. AFTER BEING TOWED IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE HEAD WAS BLOWN. AFTER REPLACING THE ENGINE THE LIGHT REMAINS ON AND NOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THERE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A DEFECT IN A SENSOR FOR THE TRANSMISSION THAT KEEPS THESE PROBLEMS HAPPENING IN THIS VEHICLE.

IMMEDIATELY, SOMEONE SCREAMED OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AND ALERTED THE CONTACT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE QUICKLY. WHEN THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE, SMOKE AND FLAMES SHOT OUT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO HAPPENED TO BE IN THE AREA, ADVISED TO OPEN THE HOOD SO THE BATTERY COULD BE DISCONNECTED. WHILE THE TECHNICIAN WAS DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND ASSISTED THE TECHNICIAN TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE OF THE CONTACT'S FRIEND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REQUESTED COPIES OF THE FIRE PICTURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 128,000.

I BOUGHT 2007 SUZUKI FORENZA WITH ONLY 50 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT AND NOW IT POSES A SAFETY RISK SINCE THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IT SUDDENLY STOPS WHILE I AM DRIVING. I LOSE CONTROL AND NEED TO MOVE IT ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE COME SEVERAL TIMES CLOSE TO BEING HIT. ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD ARE SHOWING EVEN THOUGH IT MIGHT NOT BE THE PROBLEM.

THIS SUZUKI NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ALTOGETHER! NO ONE SHOULD STILL BE DRIVING THESE. NOT ONLY CAN THE HEADLIGHTS OR BRAKE LIGHT SENSOR SWITCHES GO BAD AND JUST STOP WORKING, THEY OVERHEAT, DRAIN THE BATTERY, OVERWORK THE ALTERNATOR, WHICH THEN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, THE FALL DISPLAYS EVERY GEAR ALL AT ONCE EVEN WHILE IN DRIVE AND DISPLAYING A SPEED THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING. THE DOOR HANDLES BRAKE OFF, SO YOU CAN NOT ESCAPE THE DEATH TRAP. I RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN REGARDS TO THE HEADLAMP SWITCH OR DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT (DRL) MODULE WHICH COULD MELT THE HEADLAMP SWITCH OR THE DRL MODULE. I TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SIGNAL SWITCH. NOW WHEN I START THE CAR THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER AND WHEN I RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE THE RUNNING LIGHTS COME ON BUT VERY DIM TO BRIGHT. BEFORE TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL, I PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE, AS SOON AS I SWITCHED IT FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. IT WOULDN'T GO OVER 5MPH. I REVERSED AND PARKED BACK INTO MY PARKING SPACE. ONCE THIS HAPPENED, I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH. TURNS OUT, IT IS THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR, AND A LOT OF OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE NEXT DAY, I DECIDED TO ATTEMPT TO DRIVE IT AGAIN.. BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THESE CARS HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN AND SEEM TO DECIDE TO GO BAD ONE DAY AND ACT COMPLETELY NORMAL THE NEXT! I STARTED THE CAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, BUT SEEMED TO DRIVE FINE. I DROVE IT TO HAVE IT TESTED AT THE AUTO STORE. THE TEST CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR. I THEN STOPPED AT A STORE ON MY WAY HOME. I WAS IN THE STORE LESS THAN 5 MINUTES, CAME OUT TO MY CAR, AND IT WOULD NOT START! I THOUGHT THE BATTERY HAD IRONICALLY DIED. MY BROTHER IN LAW CAME TO JUMP IT, BUT HAD NO SUCCESS. I TURN THE KEY ALL THE WAY OVER, AND THE SERVICE LIGHTS COME ON, BUT IT WONT EVEN TRY TO TURN OVER.. ITS ALMOST AS IF THE CAR HAS NOTHING UNDER THE HOOD... CRAZY THAT IT WONT EVEN ATTEMPT TO START. I RECENTLY LOST MY CAR WHICH WAS A '07 SUZUKI FORENZA TO WHAT HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS A MECHANICAL CAR FIRE BROUGHT ON BY SOME SORT OF MECHANICAL FAILURE. I BELIEVE THIS WAS A CULMINATION OF A SERIES OF FAILURES OVER TIME DESPITE WHATEVER ACTION I TOOK TO AVOID IT. INITIALLY I ENCOUNTERED INTENSE FLICKERING WITH MY HEADLAMPS. HEADLIGHTS WOULD STAY ON EVEN AFTER REMOVING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. I BELIEVE THAT THE CONSISTENCE OF THIS OCCURRENCE, HAS CAUSED MY VEHICLE'S BATTERY TO FAIL. I ULTIMATELY HAD TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED. I WOULD ALSO HAVE A TOXIC SMELL COME THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM FROM TIME TO TIME. IT SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING BURNING AND MELTING. HOWEVER, I WAS NEVER ABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT IT WAS. THIS WAS GOING ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR QUITE SOMETIME. THEN EVENTUALLY MY CAR WAS LOST TO THE MECHANICAL CAR FAILURE FIRE. THIS IS THE 2ND RECALL ON THE DRL MODULE IN 2 YEARS. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY TERMINALS ON THE CAR. THE HEADLIGHTS WON'T TURN OFF UNLESS I UNHOOK THE BATTERY. THE RECALL GOT STARTED IN MAY 2014, THE RECALL WAS MAILED OUT IN JULY 2014 AND THE RECALL IS BEING DONE WHILE SUZUKI DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS. THE CAR COMPANY WILL TAKE FOR EVER TO GET THE PARTS. I CALLED SUZUKI AND WAS TOLD THAT IF MY CAR CATCHES ON FIRE IT IS NOT THEIR CONCERN. IN THE MEANTIME I HAVE NO OTHER WAY TO WORK. I CAN NOT REGISTER THE CAR, CAN NOT DO THE INSPECTION, CAN NOT DRIVE IT. THIS IS SUCH A HARDSHIP FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. SUZUKI SAYS THAT THEY WILL PUT YOU THROUGH TO THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE, BUT THAT IS A BIG JOKE. AFTER MY DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS STAYED ON ALL NIGHT, MY BATTERY DIED AND I HAD TO HAVE THE ENGINE JUMPED. I WENT ALONG WITH MY DAY, PARKED MY CAR AT THE BUS LOT AND WENT TO WORK. AFTER RETURNING TO THE CAR, I SMELLED SMOKE. WHEN I TRIED TO POP MY HOOD, I NOTICED THE INTERIOR PANELING UNDER MY STEERING WHEEL WAS BLACK AND MELTED. THE HOOD WOULD NOT POP OPEN BECAUSE THE RELEASE LEVER WAS ALSO MELTED. THERE WAS SMOKE DAMAGE ON MY WINDSHIELD NEAR THE AIR/DEFROST VENTS AND ON ANYTHING SITTING IN MY CAR. LUCKY FOR ME, I WAS NOT IN THE CAR WHEN THE FIRE OCCURRED AND IT WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHERE NO ONE WAS AROUND TO GET INJURED. AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR REPLACED ON THE CAR 4 TIMES BEFORE THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION, I'VE REALIZED THERE WERE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR LONG BEFORE THE FIRE OCCURRED. MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT A FIRE IN THIS EXACTLY MAKE/MODEL/YEAR CAR.
