I received a safety alert on my car screen: Front passenger safety restraint system issue. Service is required. The front passenger safety restraint system fault typically involves a malfunctioning occupant weight sensor in the passenger seat, which controls whether the airbag activates or deactivates EVGOER. This is a serious safety concern because the airbag may be disabled at that seat location in the event of a crash. The issue is often caused by loose, broken, or unplugged harnesses or connectors under the seat, particularly related to the Occupant Classification System (OCS) Tesla Owners OnlineDigital EV Doctor. Many owners report this happens because wires under the seat get crimped over time due to Tesla's "easy entry" feature that automatically moves seats. Since this a widespread Tesla Model 3 problem, I believe this should be a recall.
The rear doors do not have a manual release. If power is lost, you cannot open the rear doors. This is a severe safety concern. With 2 child seats in the rear seats, with a power failure, you cannot get the children out. Newer Model 3 vehicles, have a manual safety release. My 2018 does not.
The "Front passenger safety restraint system" is prone to errors because the wiring for it beneath the seat is prone to getting knocked loose and electrical interference
No warning messages at all, all cameras/sensors stopped working all at once while driving, full self drive stopped working, lane assist, safety features of full self drive was degraded by this. Car software v12 (2024.44.25.2 288ce84bb43e), according to the dealership the computer fried randomly.
The car's horn only works sometimes and often not at all when steering wheel horn areas are pressed, hard or soft!! Tesla said they couldn't fix it!!
Mold, mildew and smelly odors are coming through the on-cabin ventilation system. This is the 3rd time since 2020, I had to purchase & replace the two air filters and spray the poorly designed duct & condensation accumulation. I inspected the self-installed air filters and there were no signs of moisture, mildew, mold or stains on the filters, which makes me think the problem was /is from the HVAC condenser or coil area. Tesla had issued a 2019 software update to “run” the ventilation system longer after the vehicle was in “Park” but the software update has NOT solved the mildew and bacteria odors that are vented into the cabin, and subsequently changed the HVAC design in post 2021Tesla models that corrected this problem with many pre-2021 Model 3s. Tesla Service Centers are still charging for the coil spray cleaning and not covering this mold & bacteria-creating HVAC design problem of their earlier year vehicles ca as I had to pay Tesla for a pair of air filters change and now they want me to pay for a separate fee for spraying the condenser coils.
While driving on the 5 freeway, using autopilot, my car suddenly decelerated and came to a complete stop. Fortunately, we were not struck from behind, and I was able to get the car to accelerate again after approximately 10 seconds.
Front suspension is making very weird and loud noises. Issue is associated with the front suspension links becoming loose.
1. The Power Conversion System (PCS), still in the vehicle and not available for inspection 2. 2 of the 3 controllers have failed, resulting in limited AC charging (16A out of 48A max). The PCS helps regulate AC and DC electricity and connects the 12V batter to the HV battery. If it fails, it could lead to dangerous situations since the electricity from the HV battery wouldn't be as controlled. I'm worried that if the final controller fails while driving it could lead to a loss of power. 3. Problem throws an error code when charging that the dealer has verified, they will not replace it unless I pay for the part+labor which is roughly $1,800. 4. Vehicle inspected by dealer, they will only fix if I pay for replacement part. 5. Car has warning message when charging.
Front suspension lateral link fasteners loosened, allowing the lateral link to separate from the sub-frame. I have a 2018 Model 3 and this seems to be the exact same issue that led to a recent recall with the help of the NHTSA. Recall no. 23V235000 SB-23-31-001 An expansion of previous recall number 21V-835. I noticed for months something was slightly off in the front right area of the car. I brought it into the Tesla service center, they drove it and didn't notice anything. About a month later the lateral link separated from the subframe rendering the car undriveable. I had it towed immediately.
I’m not exactly sure what’s wrong, the screen keeps failing on my car. It’s been taken to Tesla to service this issue 4 times. With the most expensive repair costing $2,200. Its poses a safety hazard because when the screen fails. You can’t see anything, speed, gear. You can’t adjust windshield wipers, seat or mirror positions.
AC Power Control System Failure - I didn't know about this problem until two weeks ago I went to Tesla service center. I was facing this problem since 2020, when car was under 4 years warranty but never complain thought home power source charge that much only.
ISSUE: PTC Heater failed at 63,617 miles after 6 years of use WARNING MESSAGE: "Vehicle may not restart" CONTACT: [XXX] [XXX] main contact for owner [XXX] . VIN: [XXX] MAKE: MODEL 3 YEAR: 2018 REPAIR QUOTED: $1,104.18 LINE ITEMS: PTC HEATER DUALZONE(1088218-00-I) HVAC, PTC SERVICEASSY(1107677-00-A) LABOR & DIAGNOSTICS SUMMARY: TESLA Model 3 Electric Vehicle shut down into "Asleep mode" and will not respond (turn back on). Locked out. Will not wake up. Will not respond to software nor car keys. All systems turned off. Will not charge. Will not release charger from charge port. Issue suddenly happened after [XXX] software load (deemed to not be the cause of issue). Dealership diagnostic shows PTC Heater failure which cuts off the battery. Dealership quoted estimated repair (see below). This could have happened while driving causing the vehicle to be uncontrollable, and a major safety issue. Fortunately, my incident happened after I parked the car in the garage. Overnight there was a software install (supposedly not causing the problem). In the morning the vehicle would not turn on. PRECEDENT: There were several small claims filings in Canada for same issue. This was deemed a design flaw, and safety issue. (See [XXX] ) DIAGNOSTICS: On-line debugging is pointing to resistance issue with 1 of the 5 heating elements in the PTC Heater. PTC Heater cuts off supply to PCS which charges the 12V battery when there is an issue with the heater. This allows the 12v battery to drain, and the EV becomes unresponsive. Front Passenger Safety Restraint System Fault error. Tesla is indicating this is out of warranty but seems this is a very pervasive issue with an important safety mechanism on the car.
Seems that when brake pedal sensor can trigger a "pressed" reading when not actually being pressed. The only way to turn off the car manually is defeated by, you guessed it, depressing the brake pedal. This causes the vehicle to remain on and unlocked. Even if you are able to leave the vehicle in a locked park state, at any point, the sensor can register a "pressed" reading and essentially unlock and turn on the vehicle. I see this as a extremely serious safety issue. The issue seems to occur randomly at first and then more frequently. It can be confused with a known seat sensor issue which seems to also cause the same symptoms.
I am reporting a safety concern with my Tesla Model 3. The vehicle is equipped with both a high and low horn, and the low horn in my car has failed. After discussing with other early production Model 3 owners, I’ve found that this is a widespread issue affecting many vehicles. A failing horn is highly unusual in modern vehicles, and I believe this issue should be addressed through a recall due to its frequency among Model 3 owners. Tesla has quoted $400 to repair the horn, which seems unreasonable for a critical safety feature. It's important to note that some owners may not report the problem if only one horn (either high or low) is affected. However, the failure of either horn poses a significant safety risk, as the reduced sound output may not be sufficient to alert other drivers in emergency situations. I believe this defect requires further investigation and should be considered for a recall. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I have an error on my car, have had this for almost a year now, Front Left Safety Restraint System Fault. This seems to be a safety issue that Tesla should recall. I have seen thousands of online posts related to this same issue. .
Tesla has completely changed the user interface on a few occasions. It is now dangerous for me to try to change the danged radio station if the car is in motion because of the amount of attention to the display needed to locate and select something, even stations I regularly listen to. In a prior version the ones I regularly used easily popped up in a small area. It takes multiple touches just to navigate through to the station I last listened to. This is the worst they've done, but they regularly change the User Interface for no particularly good reason/benefit. Cars should be easy to use.
Vehicle started to display error message of "front left safety restraint system fault" intermittently, then would come on after the vehicle runs for about 5 minute and stay on. According to online forums, this is a common issue with Tesla Model 3, primarily related to the frequent movements of the seat (use of easy entry function). There appears to be electrical wires / sensors that can be damaged or pinched from moving the seat. There is no other issues aside from the safety alert. Tesla quoted more than $700, mostly in labor, to evaluate root cause of the issues. This can be a potential safety issue (not sure how this affects seat belt and/or airbag deployment), and it is not due to negligence or misuse of the vehicle; rather, this appears to be related to the design and quality of vehicle and should be covered by Tesla as a recall to fix the issue.
Car reports RCM a056 error related to Occupant Control sensors. This is apparently a common problem for this year and model (related car forums and social media report > 100 such incidents that I can find), but is not covered ($1700 repair). This should be a safety recall.
My Tesla Model 3 Made an Accident on [XXX] on [XXX] exit at [XXX] . The Tesla Model 3 is driving under Full Auto Drive. The Model 3 was waiting at traffic light at [XXX] exit at [XXX] . There is an other car stopped in the middle of cross road waiting on traffic. The light goes green, my tesla start to move trying to make left turn. But the other car still block the way. My car first stop and about 1 second the car suddenly run into the car and driver side mirror and door hit the other car’s tails light and rear bumper. The buttons in the interior seem to be degrading much quicker than it should be. The window levers become lose and can break off. This is a safety hazard as in not able to raise the window if it allows to lower it. One has to park in order to raise windows in the mobile application. The plastics are breaking too quickly. There is also an issue with levers for the seat adjusting. Also, when canceling service requests in their application, Tesla deletes or hides them without an ability to see what was written to show proof later of their faults.
The rear-passenger door handle decorative chrome came detached in a strip from the middle of the underlying stronger material. It was *SHARP* and cut my wife's hand. Web searches showed others with the same issue, even one reporting being cut by it. Tesla said it was not a warranty item and cars break but did say it was odd to see it break in the way it did.
I engaged the vehicle's automatic parking function when prompted by the car. The process initiated as expected, and the car began to back into an open spot. In the process of parking, the automated system steered into a curb, damaging the left front wheel in the process. As an aside, the list of "Problem Parts" above should include "autonomous driving system".
Following an over-the-air software update, all audio in the vehicle stops working. This includes entertainment services, but more importantly turn signal indicator "clicks", forward collision warnings, parking assist chimes, shift confirmation and warning chimes, and various ADAS notification sounds. In some instances, the problem corrected itself within 24 hours. In another instance, it persisted for nearly a week before I discovered that unplugging the USB cable for the dashcam fixed the problem. The dashcam hard drive has been installed for over 4 years, per the instructions in the user manual, without problems until early 2024. There were no error notifications or anything else to indicate that there was a problem with the car's safety systems, or what the cause of the problem was, except for the lack of audio. I chatted with Tesla service about the issue. After discovering and sharing that disconnecting the USB drive fixed the issue, they were persistent in wanting to cancel my appointment without gathering any additional information. Here is the transcript of our interaction: Me: Unplugging my dascham hard drive from the USB port fixed it. Weird. Tesla: Oh interesting. Good to know! Do we have permission to cancel this appointment? Me: Since it keeps happening I'd like to keep it open. I turned on remote debugging in case that helps you to report the bug or something. Tesla: We have nothing else to diagnose if your vehicle is operating as expected. Me: Ok. If it keeps happening I will still want to bring it in, so let's keep the appointment. And I wouldn't say it's operating as expected. Having to disconnect USB cable to get the turn signal to work properly isn't what I would expect. Tesla: I would hate for you to bring in your car, only for us to tell you that it is because of your third party accessory, and we charge you for the diagnostic time. Me: I appreciate your concern.
Tesla Model 3 autopilot engaged. The car steered itself off the road and into a tree as it was accelerating on a residential street from 8 mph to approx. 30 mph.
Tesla is unable to remediate recall 23V-838; TC2023-657, the over-the-air software update will not install on my car and is asking me to pay at least $200 to diagnosis the issue and then potentially $1000 to fix failed hardware.
Front passenger safety restraint system fault. This is the second time this has happened.
I am unable to open my rear passenger car door from the outside or the inside. Also the rear passenger door also lacks a manual release like the front doors have. This, coming off of [XXX] 's death, and Tesla's service apathy and insistence on first collecting money before solving this problem is incredibly dangerous. So I am now driving a death trap, and this is my only car, and Tesla should have to pay for the fix, yet they are insisting I pay for the full price because my car is now "out of warranty." But with this kind of LIFE-THREATENING failure of a door that should honestly just work, is reprehensible. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The front right lower control arm, sub frame, and bolt(s) failed causing unsafe driving conditions while myself and my kids were in the car. There is a recall on this part for many of the exact same year, make, and model as my car: NHTSA campaign ID: 23V235000. Tesla recall SB-23-31-001 (info pulled from NTSB site). My VIN wasn’t on the recall, but there is clearly an issue, so I was forced to pay for this. Please add my VIN so I can be reimbursed and also get the other side repaired for safety reasons.
PTC Heater failed. This is a critical component that helps to maintain the battery's temperature within safe operating range. The only alternative is to replace this PTC Heater. Till the replacement is done, EVs battery may not maintain safe operating temperature range and could cause the car - not drive able. I consider this a significant safety risk. Cabin temperature cannot be maintained as well. Cause for PTC Heater failure is known - "change in temperature" could cause this item to fail per Tesla. i.e. when cold air blows over the heating element. Not sure if enough has been done to fix this from occurring for such a critical component with some hardware or hardware recall for several vehicles on the road. Else these cars must be considered for sales only for few states in the USA which have a stable operating temperature ranges for their PTC heaters to not run into the risk of failure due to big change in temperature.
Horn stopped working. I see other people have this problem with Model 3. Tesla does not cover this after warranty period.
The steering wheel horn stopped working about a month or so ago. I can use the Tesla app to make the horn sound but not by pressing the steering wheel. Fortunately, no safety of others or myself have been experienced. No one else has inspected it yet, though I am due to have my state inspection tomorrow and I don't think that it will pass. There were no warning lamps for messages prior to the failure. I think I first noticed that it wasn't working about a month or so ago. I reported the bug on the car texting service but have not heard from Tesla nor received a software update to fix the problem.
The rear camera often fails. Does this mean it is recording or not when driving. I think Tesla should have fixed this rear camera harness recall. I have been waiting over two years for this fix. It has been too long. Safety issues backing up or driving without the rear camera working properly.
My bluetooth has not been connecting in my car. To preface this, my car was in twice this year alone, with a near $3000 bill, to replace the MCU, on a car with only 26k miles. Now this bluetooth connection issue is still a problem. After opening a service ticket with Tesla, I am told for an additional $180, I would need to replace my seat sensor. This means my seat (while I am driving) does not recognize that someone is on it and driving. My concern is the manufacturer remedy does not replace failed parts with improved design and that this has the potential to cause other safety issues if occupant detection compromised by faulty sensors. What if I am in an accident and the airbags don't deploy?
On automatic setting, windshield wipers are erratic. Rain can be heavy and wipers don't engage. Requires manually operating wipers that are supposed to engage when windshield becomes wet from atmospheric rain.
I got into my car and turned on the climate control as normal. The vehicle is always parked in the garage. It was blowing cold air, no matter the temperature setting, or vent selection. There is a message on screen that reads “climate keeper unavailable due to system fault.” It’s not just that the cabin has no heat, which is uncomfortable, but terrible in much colder climates than mine. The heat not functioning means the defrost feature is useless. Water sprayed onto my windshield while driving this morning and froze! It stayed frozen because I didn’t have a functioning defroster or a warm enough cabin to melt it off that way either. It’s a known issue for Tesla’s, particularly with Model 3s. Tesla has never done anything to rectify it. My car has a resistive heat system, and this is the first time this has happened to me. There was no warning or indication this would happen. Non working in cabin heat may not be a direct safety flaw, but not being able to defrost my windshield for proper visibility while driving is!
Got into car after update, screen blacked out, could not to hard reboots. App could no longer see car. Tech support couldn't remote into vehicle or get in touch with it. Had to have it towed to service center. It's been sitting there for 6 days with no diagnosis just an estimate for $530 to troubleshoot the car. This update caused my car to completely be unresponsive and undrivable. I also had a carseat in the car.
The NHTSA recently forced Tesla to perform a "recall" including an over the air update that made changes to the Tesla Full Self Driving features. Before the recall I felt very safe driving my Tesla on FSD mode. After the update my car feels much less safe with an almost exponential increase in the number of on screen warnings that distract me and do not increase the safety of the vehicle. We do not need these unnecessary notifications that cause constant distraction from the driver's ability to pay attention to the road. These need to be immediately removed as I feel they will directly cause me to become distracted enough to lose control of my vehicle. We need less distractions so we can maintain focus on the road. Any on screen warnings forces the driver to look away from the road to look at the warning, then we get an additional warning for looking at the previous warning. This causes an endless loop of micro distractions that on long drives lead to increasing frustration and increased sensitivity to them. This is a serious safety concern that that was implemented without Tesla vehicle owner feedback and needs to be immediately rescinded. We actually need to force Tesla to provide less on screen warnings and distractions instead of more to increase safety and driver attention to the road. Thank you for reading my concerns.
Me and my wife cut the finger on vehicle door handle. The thin chrome covering the handles has peeled off cousin hazard. Can you fix your website, I’m unable to upload photos.
I had come to a complete stop at the red light for about 1-2 minutes when, unexpectedly, my car surged forward and collided with the vehicle in front of me. Initially, I believed someone had rear-ended me and caused the accident, but that turned out not to be the case. Although I attempted to apply the brakes to prevent the collision, it was unfortunately too late.
Intermittently over the past two months, the vehicle has been showing error code RCM_a056 with the accompanying message: Front passenger safety restraint system fault Service is required I reached out to Tesla and the service estimate was nearly $1500 to replace the Airbag "to maintain compatibility with Front Passenger Seat" for $942 and $414 to replace the Occupant Classification System (OCS) of Front Passenger Seat plus taxes. Basically, they want to replace the airbag and the seat sensor system. Many people on the forums have reported the same issue, which is sometimes fixed by replacing both components, just the sensor, or reseating the sensor cable. This is clearly a safety issue caused by a defect and these critical components should not fail this catastrophically in just 5+ years.
"Self-Driving System" turned into a one-way road, going the wrong way when the road was well labeled. I have had similar problems every time I have activated self-driving over the past 6 years. It is easy to reproduce the issue at any time.
I received a warning message that displayed, “Front Left Safety Restraint System Fault.” This is an engineering problem as the cables associated easily detach under the driver’s seat. Tesla has been long aware of this problem. They came out to my home and replaced the wire connection by installing sturdier connectors. I was subsequently was charged $329.40.
I tried to open the back door (the rear drivers side.) I could not get the handle to pop out as it normally does when I push in. I hand to push it very hard to get the handle out and once I grasped the handle I cut my hand on the handle. It seems the chrome wrap on the handle had started to come off some how, which is what was preventing the handle from opening in the first place. This must be a defect as there is no way a person could possibly damage this chrome wrap, as the handles are always tucked away.
Car swerved into my lane and horn failed to work to notify them that they were serving. The large push area at the bottom of the horn on my model 3 does not work. Service told me this was the design in the older models, and has been corrected only in newer models. So that means all older model 3's have a horn that does not work properly.
Received a Front passenger safety restraint system fault warning on my Tesla that went away but the service tech claims that they don't see that warning when brought to service center. I am concerned that they are not transparent or not seeing something that I clearly saw. Or if there is some software/technical glitch that displayed it. They were not clear on why it showed to me. The other issue is related to A/C compressor failing due to their software for cabin overheating. I had to pay for the A/C compressor to be replaced but feel that their software contributed to the problem.
Charging port door won’t open and ports won’t unlock when the button to unlock the charging port door is pressed on the app. Previously, the charge port door would open automatically when the unlock charge port door button is pressed on the app and touch screen. Now, I have to open the charging port door manually. However, the charging ports will unlock after I repeatedly press the button to unlock charge port door on the touchscreen. The ports have to unlock in order for the charger to be inserted to charge the car. I have requested service and cancel service when I was informed of the price to replace the charging port door. Recently, I requested service then a pop-up message appeared stating that several Tesla 3 users have been experiencing problems with the charging port door. If that is the case, there should be a recall And Tesla should replace the charging port doors/charging port apparatus for Tesla 3 owners that are experiencing the problem.

Recently, I requested service through the app. Before I scheduled a service appointment, there was a pop-up message educating how to open the charge port door. I believe Tesla created the pop up because other users are experiencing the same issue. If that is the case, Tesla should issue a recall to replace the charge port door/charge port apparatus for the Tesla 3 vehicles that are experiencing the problem.
Cabin noise is over the normal threshold creating distraction and discomfort for concentration. Submitted multiple complaints and repair request through car app for diagnostic and possible repair, but nothing has been addressed. I bought a sound level meter to measure the distracted noise and the sound level was measured at 87 dB. Asked Tesla repair center if they can measure the sound level to confirm my complaint, but they are not will to do so. All the complaints were submitted during manufacture warranty period, but nothing has been done and now my car is out of warranty and Tesla wants ti charge me $265 per hour for the diagnostic. What is Tesla’s published or acceptable cabin sound level? The high sound level is now causing my ear to occasionally have ringing and discomfortable feeling.
Re NHTSA recall 21V00D The rear view back up camera of my Tesla 2018 Model 3 went black on August 21 starting at approx 3pm and remained black for the rest of the day through August 22. I'm planning to check today, August 24 to see if the problem still persists. Lack of the backup camera makes it very difficult to park and to see people in the car's blind spots. I've informed the dealer of the problem but I've decided to have an independent third party repair service take a look to see if the problem could possibly pertain to recall.
I was notified by Tesla in early 2022 of recall 21V-00D for a safety issue. I have asked several times to have it fixed. As of August 18, 2023 it is still not fixed and Tesla is still claiming that the parts are not available.
THIS IS ON RECAL SB-20-31-006 R3. THE BALL JOINT OF MY TESLA MODEL 3. SQUEAKS/CREAKING, WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, WHEN I DRIVE SLOW, DRIVE FAST, HIT ANY BUMP, TURN. THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN LOUDER. I WAS TOLD BY TESLA TAHT MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY UNDER THE RECAL DUE TO MY VIN#. REQUESTING ASSISTANCE TO GET THIS FIXED.
PCS failure right when warranty expired. This should have been covered under battery warranty since it is component of charging system. But, Tesla refused to consider this under battery warranty
Charging power conversion system component fail to take the full capacity the charging station able to give causing very slow charging. Warranty was not covered and costing over $1500 to fix & replace. When asked that this should be Battery warranty, I was turned down and was told that it's not 'part of the battery'. This is safety concern and fire hazard
This is an issue regarding the full self driving software. My car continues to run red lights at which it is already stopped. The light is solid red to the naked eye, and the camera definitely does not show the normal steady blink of a malfunctioning signal. The pitch forward in the video is me slamming on the brakes as the car tries to run the light (about 28 seconds in). I have previously reported this to Tesla on 12/28/21, 8/25/22, 9/21/22, 11/21/22, and 4/24/23. It has happened many more times than that, as I usually don't see a point in reporting the same bug multiple times on the same software version. As far as I know, nothing is being done about this and I have received no acknowledgement of the problem. The [email protected] autoreply states that they forward this information to the correct department. This is, in my opinion, many orders of magnitude more serious than the previous Tesla recall regarding waiting too long at stop signs as this will cause a crash for an inattentive driver. https://youtu.be/ZvJASdlEEPU
Computer failure. The car became unsafe to drive because the screen went completely black and could not be reset. The rear view mirrors would not unfold, the car’s cooling system wouldn’t work, there was no way to see the speedometer or the amount of charge the vehicle had and the vehicle would not charge.
The Tesla was parked and locked unoccupied with all security features enabled. When I returned to the car the front driver's side was completely crumpled with the bodywork torn , like it was reveresed in to. I was gone about 30 minutes. The car gave no notification on the app, the car alarm didn't activate and the sentry mode did not record the incident. All the things they say the car will do. I called Tesla and was told it works 99% of the time ,(but clearly when you need safety and security it doesn't) they stated that if the car gets hit a certain way it can cause the system to shut down /reboot ,so that none of these systems work... Seems wrong that this can be allowed to be the case that not only all the systems fail, that when they do fail there's no backup or way for the car to know something is wrong. That if there is a unexpected forced reboot it doesn't tell you or acknowledge something is wrong in any way . They seem to think that this is ok . I have reported to them and they really didn't seem to care , just said the statement above about it working 99% of the time..However all the things they say the car can do ,and several reasons you think you are buying the car for with it's increased safety and security, apparently don't work at all. Now I have a 4 figure out of pocket to get the car repaired because I have no way to find the person who hit my car because the none of the cars security or safety warnings worked.
My Tesla Model 3 without any warning stopped working suddenly. I could not put the car in drive and there were error messages about climate control and electrical system. I had to get the car towed to the service center as it was blocking my other car in the driveway. The service center in Sunnyvale, CA diagnosed the problem to be a faulty PTC heater and has charged me over $1100 to replace it. I beileve it is quite absurd to have a fault in the HVAC system render the whole vehicle completely immobile and useless. This seems like a serious design flaw and it could lead to serious health or safety concerns.
I am driving on the new FSD beta that Tesla just released to comply with NHTSA's previous recall, version 2022.45.13. Despite the claim that this release has addressed these issues, I experienced these today while driving around my town on city streets and on the open highway: As I approached the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp off the highway to my neighborhood street, the car blew right past the stop sign just like it wasn't there. It did this before the current update as well. While this is improved over previous versions, it still doesn't slow down in advance of a new lower speed limit sign to ensure it's moving at that posted new slower speed by the time it reaches that sign, as it should. As you know, it's illegal, e.g., to continue driving at 45 mph after you've passed a 35 mph sign. But with this latest update, even though the car can "see" the new lower speed limit sign ahead, the car only begins to slow down once you've passed this new lower speed limit sign and then goes about 200 ft before it actually reaches the lower speed. This is still illegal in every state and is a danger to drivers and others. Please make Tesla fix both of these problems fully.
Heater suddenly stopped working. Will not produce any heat or defrost windshield. Passenger/Driver safety affected by lack of warmth in extreme cold and visibility while driving with iced windshield. 35,000 miles on well maintained vehicle w no damage or accidents. Dealer states that resistance heater and wire harness will need replaced. No cause identified.
The issue is with autostart, enhanced auto pilot and lane departure warning. I paid for Enhanced auto pilot. This car totally relies on cameras. 1. In the slightest occurrence of rain, it complains about one or more cameras malfunctioning or out of vision. This doesn't happen often in Full Self Driving version. For early adopters of Model3 FSD, manufacturer updated the cameras. However they did not do that for early Enhanced Autopilot customers. 2. For the same reason, on a 3 lane or more highway, on autopilot when one moves from speed most lane and if there is a truck on the slowest lane, the camera shows somehow that the truck is on the middle lane when it is not, and hence the software assumes an impending crash and pulls you back to the speed most lane, giving no time for anyone behind you to think anyone, and leaves yourself in a dumbfounded state. 3. Without the upgraded cameras, Autopilot is prone to accidents. 4. Car tent to automatically brake when sun directly shines on the driver or there is a bridge in front of you while on autopilot. I believe this has something to do with the older version of cameras.
OEM Chrome on door handles is a thick metallic wrap over plastic. Over time the chrome wrap delaminated on 3 out 4 handles. This results in very sharp metal edge that presents a laceration hazard. Just wanted to share this in case others have this issue. It's not a serious issue but it definitely is unsafe and it might be good to warn others.
looks like "upper control arms Parts" are poorly constructed and Tesla is not able to fix . I've had my 2018 model 3 for a 4.5 years now I notice a squeaking noise coming from the steering wheel and its constantly whenever I turn the wheel. Tesla said to replace upper control arms Parts by owner , even though it was poorly designed .costing about $2800.00.. which is not acceptable . Would you mind take a look at this issue
Hi, I did order Tesla in 2016 and delivered car in June 2018. Beased on the software updates, and recalls , Tesla was not about to full fill any of the recalls. Apart from existing recalls , I did notice couple of other issues with this my car . one of them is unable to configure /activate Cabin camera , even though Camera with pre installed Hardware. I did try to contact Tesla , as per their episode, 2018 Tesla models come with older computer/processor, and it not support Cabin Camera.& I have to pay $1000 +tax in order to make it active. They also said , I did not purchased 'auto pilot feature '. that way camera is not active. but newer models of does work without ' auto pilot feature'. That means older Tesla model3 computers of Tesla' must be recalled, because of poor computer design. Is there anything I could expect help from NHTSA? thanks [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Hello, The side camera in our Tesla model 3 have stopped working. Because they have stopped working, the GPS, and the car status (360 overhead view) parts also stopped working. This means that we can't use the Enhanced Autopilot with the car. This is a huge issue as the side cameras and the car status are very important for safety. It looks like this is a known problem but Tesla isn't issuing a recall to fix this https://www.cnbc.com/2021/12/06/tesla-is-replacing-faulty-autpilot-cameras-in-some-model-s-x-3-cars.html This started happening in mid-Jan, when our car had 41K miles and 4 years 1 month age. Tesla's warranty only goes 40K miles and 4years
After software update 2022.44.30 PTC heating failed. No warning lights, just failure to keep cabin warm.
The manufacturer pretended the backup camera recall for the vehicle didn’t exist and attempted to charge me for the repair. Even after I pointed out that the recall covered exactly what was wrong they said it wasn’t covered and provided no further information explaining why.
On December 14, 2022, around 5pm, in slowly moving rush hour street traffic, my 2018 Model 3 shut down completely. This happened twice more within a few minutes. The car was towed to the tesla Sacramento Service center. Technicians could find no valid reason for the car shutting down, excepting to say that the driver was not fully seated. I did not change my position in the driver seat. The service advisors could not say how it was determined that the driver was not fully seated. The only mention in the Tesla manual for interference with the driver seat sensors is a caution about using seat covers. I do not have a seat cover.
On December 16, 2022, Tesla made an Over the Air firmware update to my Tesla Model 3. The car's User Interface (UI) screen subsequently began to make erratic and random visualizations. The screen displays motorcycles, trucks and human bodies that are not actually present. The screen fails to display objects, such as other moving vehicles, that are present. The car was towed to the Tesla Sacramento Service center. The technician determined the screen was functioning as expected, and no "fix" exists. The technician also noted the screen's problems will eventually improve over time with firmware updates. The service advisor told me to ignore the screen when driving. The screen is large and within my field of vision. The safety features of the car includes the UI screen to display objects around the car, both while in motion and at rest. The UI screen continues to malfunction.
We're a US Military family and are going to be stationed overseas. The US Army WILL NOT take our Tesla Model 3 into a storage facility while we are gone because there is still an outstanding safety recall notice associate with this vehicle. NHTSA Recall # 22V702. We are leaving in less than two weeks and we can't get our vehicle into storage without all safety recalls being fixed (even though it is only an over-the-air recall). We also can't even sell our car because it is illegal to sell a car that still has unfixed recalls! Argh!!! Can you please put pressure on Tesla to fix this issue and send out an over-the-air fix? We're stuck and stressed right now and we have to go overseas regardless of this Tesla matter being fixed or not. And no, we can't even leave our Tesla with someone without getting a power-of-attorney to let them put it into US Military storage in the future. This is a mess! Please get Tesla to fix the safety recall #22V702.
Cabin heating unit failure during winter with temperatures in the 10-20F range, loss of front window defrosting/defogging leading to poor visibility. Problem was confirmed by dealer and heating unit replaced at dealer service center, dealer now has possession of the broken heating unit. There were no indications that the unit was about to fail, until it stopped making hot air and reported a "climate system fault" when trying to select heat/defrost, it stopped working while the car was in use. The heating system stopped working around 12:30 on Friday and did not work all day, tried rebooting the head-end computer to no effect. Started working at 9am the next morning for a few hours, but stopped working while driving around 12:30 again and didn't work for rest of day, worked for an hour or so the next day and again an hour or so the day after that. The vendor was able to get an appointment on Monday to replace the unit and had the part in stock so this was failed from Friday mid-day to Monday afternoon, the new unit is installed and is now working so far. As far as I know, the heating in this model is a simple electric resistive heating element, so it is not clear to me how it could fail without a manufacturing or design defect, the car is only 3y old.
HVAC Heating system not fuctional (PTC Heater) has failed. It seems through a series of internet searches and forums that the PTC Heater is failing prematurely on earlier builds of the Model 3. Tesla additionally has limited supply/backordered of PTC Heaters therefore would be assumed that the issue is larger than Tesla wants to disclose.
One lovely frigid winter day, my son woke up really ill. We had to take him to the hospital, which is roughly 30 min from our house. In our rush, we didn't grab hardly anything to bring with us. Just a small blanket for him so that we could get out the door. Once we got in the car, we got the lovely "Climate control unavailable due to system fault" error. We have not had heat since. Our son who is only 10 months old had to be driven back and forth in our car. It was only 30 degrees outside, and basically the exact same temp in the car. We had seat heaters, he did not. It was bad. Fast forward, we put in a service request. I started researching the issue and realized this is a widespread issue. We couldn't use our defroster at all either which is a huge issue here in Idaho. We brought the car into the service center the day after Thanksgiving. We mentioned to them that we thought this was a widespread issue and wanted to know what they would do to remedy it. They didn't entertain that at all and seemed to think this was just an isolated event. Our loaner is a 2018 Model S 100D. Super cool!! We haven't driven a Model S before, and we are enjoying it. We picked up the loaner around 5pm the day we dropped off our car at the service center. When I get in the loaner car, I see that it needs an update. I hit the "schedule update" button. I stuck with the recommended 2:30 am update suggestion since I will be asleep anyway. Now it is Saturday. We drove the car to a couple of places that day, and it is doing just fine. Sunday rolls around, and we need to run to the store. Upon getting in the car, it throws the EXACT same error as our model 3. Climate control is unavailable due to system fault. Now not only is our Model 3 in the shop, but our loaner car is having the exact same issue right after it received an update. We are hoping for help. This seems like a huge widespread issue for Tesla owners and Tesla is not taking any accountability.
There is a recall on the trunk of my car: NHTSA recall: 21V-00D It has been a year and Tesla has not contacted me to perform the inspection or repair on my car
I have been using autopilot on my 30 min commute for the past 4 years with zero major issues. On Sept 20th, 2022 at 5:45pm I was driving on my usual route at 70 mph under autopilot. I tried to disengage with the normal procedure of lifting the right stalk. It did not disengage. I tried moving the steering wheel by changing lanes, and again, it did not disengage. Finally tried to brake, and it did not brake. I was essentially stuck in 70 mph. I then quickly rebooted the car with the 2 scroll bars while driving and after about 1 minute stuck in 70 mph, the system rebooted and I was able to slow down with my brakes. Needless to say, this could have ended horribly if I did not reboot. I called Tesla right away to report it and the rep stated a service adviser will contact me in the morning. I did get a call from Drew at Tesla on Barranca in Irvine the following day and he stated that it sounded like a “unintentional acceleration” issue. He stated it will be escalated to engineering department and someone will call me in a few days. At this point, I am so freaked out driving my Model 3 fearing the brakes can lock up at any time. I wanted to share this with you so maybe others have had similar situations. I just want others to know how to reboot while driving if this ever happens to them (a life and death situation). I loved Tesla, but this situation scares me in so many levels. To this day, Tesla “engineering team” has not responded. I have requested an answer from Tesla 3 times since that day over 3 months ago, and still no explanation as to what happened that night of Sept 20th. I have. It used autopilot since that day (fearing the brake would fail to disengage) and so I have not be able to reproduce the situation. The vehicle still has not been inspected by the manufacturer since reporting the issue. Finally, there were no warning messages prior to the failure. I just wanted a response from the Tesla team, and unfortunately was not able to get one.
Water/liquid entering cabin from behind glovebox. Potentially affecting computer and other electronics. Also could affect the AC system and its intake air filtering. Possibly adding mold growth due to the excess moisture entering from the outside. When it rains, the water will gush through into the front passenger’s feet on occasion. This is possibly from pooling water in the intake within the front trunk. When activating the air conditioning in the car after sitting in the rain, it will spill over into the front passenger’s mat. This issue could additionally damage the floor with rust over time if a weather proof mat is not in place. Tesla Service will charge the customer when out of warranty, even though this is an issue that should not occur in any vehicle. Thank you. P.S. photos of puddling water taken from a video made during the occurrence of the issue
Our heater stopped working in very low temperatures . Upon researching, this is a huge problem in cold climates which could be extremely dangerous. Tesla has recalled Tesla cars with heat pumps. This is not just an issue for new models and is an issue in older models as well. It appears this issue may have occurred because of a software update pushed out to fix newer cars Tesla’s with a heat pump. This update is potentially causing the heater in the older Tesla’s without heat pumps to break. Therefore, when the older cars are breaking, in order to stay warm in cold temps Tesla owners are paying $1200+ to fix their heaters due to a pure Tesla issue. We had no warning. Our heat went out. My son was ill with RSV and in fact we were bringing him to the hospital. It was 30 degrees in our car. This is an issue for so many people in even colder climates. Some owners are reporting they are having to drive their Tesla in severely cold weather and survive off of seat heaters. This is incredibly dangerous and I cannot transport my son in my vehicle at the moment. We do have scheduled service, but to our understanding Tesla is taking zero accountability. There are a massive amount of people complaining of this issue on the Tesla forums and local groups. I hope they report as well.

AT 70000 THE FRONT RIGHT BAR THAT CONNECT TO WHEEL WENT BAD 350 DOLLARS. AT AROUND 90000 MILES THE AC WENT BAD AND THEY SAID IS BECAUSE I USED IT TOO MUCH 4700 DOLLARS AT 110000 THE LID FOR THE CHARGER KEPT OPENING UP AND CLOSING BY ITSELF AT 127000 THE BATTERY RANGE REDUCED SIGNED WENT ON 129000 MAXIMUM CHARGE COULD BE CHARDED 47 PERCENT. AND COULD NOT BE CHARGED MORE THAN WHATEVER IS IN THERE ALREADY
Mileage: 90,000
My vehicle, was parked and pulled out of the parking lot on a doing a complete left steering turn, couple of nuts&bolts carrying the vehicle control arm fell to the ground and the entire control arm disengaged out of the shafts. This could have been very fatal, if my family or me were riding the car. Tesla was trying to tell me that saying that, this is caused due to a high impact etc, not doing wheel alignment etc. And they want to charge me $3561+ to fix this shaft to put back the nuts and bolts that fell off from the car.
My vehicle received the Full Self Driving Beta (FSD-B) update Software Version 2022.20.17. I took the vehicle for a ride near my office in The Heights area of Houston, Texas, and when stopped in traffic at a red light briefly placed the vehicle into park to engage the FSD-B via the touchscreen. When I engaged Autopilot with the FSD-B active, the vehicle made a right turn from the MIDDLE lane of the roadway which had just opened into three lanes a short number of feet beforehand crashing into another vehicle causing damage to both vehicles and injury to my hand. It appears the Full Self Driving Computer failed to recognize that the roadway had just changed from two to three lanes whereas there were not vehicles in the third lane until the moment my Tesla Model 3 turned suddenly and aggressively. Had it been less than a second earlier, my vehicle would have been fully into the turn and the accident likely of a catastrophic "T-Bone" nature. The manner in which the computer turned the wheel was especially shocking. I am accustomed to Autopilot having used the system for several years, but not with the vehicle making full-turn maneuvers as is the case with the new FSD-B software. I was holding the wheel firmly close to the "six and nine" positions and beneath the "V" areas of the steering wheel. The wheel turned so aggressively and suddenly that there was no possible way to counter the maneuver and soft-tissue injury occurred to may hand requiring prescribing of steroids to reduce inflammation and pain. Tesla was notified of the accident and provided with video from the vehicle's Dashcam system, but denies liability for the accident claiming it is driver responsibility.
[XXX] has/is watching me through the in car cabin camera & the 9 cameras surrounding my Tesla. During use of Full Self Drive vehicle brakes unexpectedly. Sometimes vehicle studder brakes and other times hard brakes. This has caused a concern with drivers following me as well as passengers I'm my car. Also on a two lane road with double yellow while stopped in traffic, vehicle attempts to exit lane to pass stopped vehicle, in essence breaking the law.
On two occasions while on adaptive cruise control, my car slammed on the brakes while driving on the interstate going 65-70 mph. This was terrifying and the car practically stopped in the middle of the road. We are very lucky no one hit us from behind and that we did not lose control.
With NO WARNING, and while on AutoPilot-Full Self Drive, our Tesla TOTALLY HARD AND LONG BRAKED out of nowhere, THRUSTING our necks forward for four seconds until I could disengage the brake, then SLAMMING our heads to the headrest. I have a CERVICAL SPRAIN, WHIPLASH, and a CONCUSSION! I was driving 65mph. I’ve been to the ER, to a chiropractor, and to physical therapy since this incident Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 6:37-6:38pm. On the 405 South. I’ve reported it to Tesla Service who said it was escalated to the Fremont location Engineers to review which takes 2-3 months! I have INJURIES! Phantom braking is usually unwarranted and terrifying but has not HURT ME until this time. I was almost HIT by the car behind us!
The rear back up camera on my vehicle is experiencing intermittent delays in showing a picture. Although there is an open recall on my vehicle that was issued back in December of 2021, Tesla has still not contacted me to advise when my vehicle can be brought into compliance with the recall. When I proactively contacted them earlier today, they stated that they still do not have the part(s) necessary to complete the recall. It seems odd that a vehicle manufacturer can fail--for approximately 8 months and counting--to address an open NHTSA recall without any communication to customers (or their regulator) as to when, exactly, they expect to remedy the issue.
1) Ongoing issue with car braking suddenly when no other cars are ahead of it. 2) When in auto-pilot, the car brakes late when carrying speed. This has happened when the car is less than 1 car length behind the car ahead of it forcing me to disengage and brake hard to avoid a collision. In one incident, I had to swerve the car and drive onto shoulder of the highway to avoid a collision. 3) On 7-16 the the undercarriage cover detached from car while driving on highway.
There was a recall for the Model 3 trunk harness on Dec 21, 2021. Manufacturer Recall Number: TBD NHTSA Recall Number: 21V-00D Recall Status: Recall Incomplete I attempted to schedule a service appointment with Tesla to remedy this situation but they rejected my appointment. It has been more than 6 months and they still have not reached out on fixing this recall.
Intermittently, the main screen that has the map will go haywire, making navigation with the map impossible and putting safety at risk. Even after rebooting the computer (while driving), the issue can persist, making it very difficult to know what speed I'm going due to the issue as it is very distracting. I have video of the latest incident available.
The recent full self driving update that was received approximately one week ago has resulted numerous, substantial, and dangerous Self driving errors. The Vehicle struggles greatly to understand lanes and has on multiple occasions suddenly and without warning jerked the wheel to completely change lanes and then re-jerking the wheel to change back into the Original Lane. There has also been a shocking increase in phantom breaking while driving at highway speeds which is unsafe because other nearby drivers may slam on the brakes. The behavior of the vehicle has a times been so erratic that I could’ve gotten a ticket from an officer. Finally, the vehicle increasingly does not understand lanes and has several times veered into a left turn lane despite having a follow vehicle and despite being on a navigational Straight path, subsequently the vehicle then suddenly jerks the wheel back into the correct lane. This all happens very quickly and is not preventable by the driver even when hands are on the wheel and the driver is fully alert. I love my Tesla car. It is the safest car in the world. However, I feel very strongly that the company has been negligent and has definitely not been safety testing updates appropriately before wide release. I strongly recommend that guidelines be put in place to require Tesla to publicly report the number of FSD disengagement‘s every week. I also feel strongly that Tesla needs to permit drivers to roll back software to a prior version of full self driving. In addition, in order to send a video directly to Tesla regarding self driving errors the driver presses a video icon; however, this prevents the driver from storing the video and sends the video directly to Tesla. Therefore, drivers have to make a decision between documenting the dangerous error for themselves or to contribute to fleet learning. Each time videos pressed video must be saved to the usb drive too.
Recall not addressed by Tesla after 6 months
Main screen freezes up while driving multiple times per week requiring reset and unable to control safety items such as defroster.
Tesla refusing to repair car to address the recall issued by NHTSA on Dec 2021.
2018 Tesla Model 3, 87,000 miles. While driving, the display computer went completely black and would not reboot or display any data. Tesla repeatedly rescheduled the repair and it did not take place for three weeks during which time I could not drive safely. There was no heating, AC, defrost, speed limit, navigation, audio alerts, or sound system. When Tesla finally fixed it, they did so by replacing the entire computer at a cost of almost $1800. They never told me why the computer failed. Tesla had similar failures in the Model X and S which were repaired at no cost up to 100K. The NHSTA should issue a recall and require Tesla to pay for all these failures at no cost. This is a huge safety issue.
The enhanced autopilot failed to recognize a divider/Jersey barrier or alert the driver of the obstacle, as the software is advertised and was relied on to do, at an exit ramp and ran into the barrier without any type of maneuver or breaking to avoid the collision causing substantial injury to the driver. This exit is a very busy exit on I-95 with many commuters going to work at this time. It was by sheer luck that no other vehicles were involved. The driver endured an immediate stop from above 50mph to 0 in about a second. As far as I know, no inspection was performed. There were no warning messages, symptoms or problems related prior to the incident.
The horn has failed and been replaced twice in three years. The problem is the placement and design which leads to water getting in and causing corrosion. The first time this happened in late 2019, I had no warning that it was failing or not working until I needed to use it to alert another driver of a potential incident. Now in 2022, I heard the horn had a different tone to it when someone pulled out in front of me. I made an appointment to have it repaired again. Once again, there was corrosion on the horn. I believe this is a safety concern as the horn allows any vehicle to alert other drivers or pedestrians of what could be a bad situation. The Tesla service center did not seem too concerned with this issue and recommended that the horn be used after parking the car when it is driven in the rain. I think there must be a design flaw if a three year old vehicle is on its third horn already.
The rear view camera fails intermittently due to this recall. I was scheduled to replace the harness causing the problem, but appointment was cancelled. No new appointment is available or scheduled by Tesla. Having this issue for the last few months is a safety hazard when backing up the vehicle.
"PHANTOM BRAKING" when cruise control is on, usually when on the freeway. Sometimes it occurs next to other vehicles, sometimes there are no cars around. On a 600 mile trip it will often occur at least once and most of the time 2-3 times. If it was slippery, the sudden braking could cause loss of traction. If someone was too close behind me they could rear-end me. No one has inspected the issue. Has been occurring since I've owned the car. No warnings.
I read in the news that you are investigating phantom braking in cars without radar. I want to make sure you are aware that this is also affecting cars with radar. Each software update makes it worse as they seem to use the radar less and less.
The car has been suddenly slowing from 70miles/hr to 50 miles/hr on the highway when on autopilot. I’ve been noticing this for about 6 months
Tesla -- Front Driver Door Damage January 9, 2022. I recently had an accident with my 2018 Tesla Model 3 attempting to back out of my garage. On January 9, 2022, I put the car in reverse and started to back up the car when I noticed a potential obstruction. Alarmed, I jumped out of the car to move the obstruction behind the car, but in my haste I did not place the car in park. The car continued in reverse without me in the car. I quickly jumped back into the car to apply the brake and place the car in park. I was too late: the open car door hit the center post in the garage destroying the driver’s door. It all took place within one or two or, at the most, three seconds. The damage included a crumbled aluminum body panel, damaged hinges and damaged support beam. Total repair cost is $2900. I am surprised my Tesla Model 3 would continue to move in reverse without anyone in the driver's seat. Is this normal operation for Teslas? Is this a normal operation for other cars? (I have 2019 BMW X3 which immediately shifts from Reverse to Park when the car driver’s door is opened.) I believe this could have been a very dangerous situation. I have been advised that I should not have gotten back into the moving car, but I don’t know how much more damage could have resulted had I not been able to stop the car when I did. -------- 1. Car continued in reverse after I left car. 2. Dangerous jumping back into a moving car as car door is hitting garage support column. 3. The problem has not been reproduced. 4. Several auto repair shops provided estimates for repair. The car is at one of the auto repair shops now for repair. 5. There were no warning lamps, messages or other notifications.
my Tesla heater and windshield defroster's are not able to keep the windshield free of ice when it is below 32°. Heat does not come on strong enough until about 15 to 20 minutes after driving. this provides a dangerous situation with visibility
Tesla introduced blind spot camera availability with the release of Version 11 software. When the driver switches lanes while in autopilot by engaging the turn signal stock at night, the built in turn signal led above the repeater camera blinds the camera by washing out and degrading the camera picture as the turn signal led turns on and off. This has been remedied in newer model year cars as shown in the following youtube video-- https://youtu.be/_BUPsjguqdY This is a safety hazard to vehicle occupants as well as the driver of the vehicle as the repeater camera is being blinded by the turn signal led.
Tesla recently updated the vehicle to software 2021.44.25.2 This update mad major changes to the screen/dashboard making simple operations needed while driving much more complex and DANGEROUS to do while the vehicle is in motion. These include things we normally do every day. Requiring several screen touches and prolonged concentration on the screen instead of the road is a dangerous distraction, and will result in accidents. I requested that they revert tot he previous software version, and they refused to do so. THis is not an acceptable answer. LOTS of Tesla owners are upset about this badly designed update. They either need to IMMEDIATELY roll it back to the previous version, or produce a new update that fixes all the issues this has caused.
The side repeater cameras become very hazy with a pink shade at nights and the camera view when the turn signal is turned on displays this. This is quite dangerous if we rely on camera view for blink spot checks at nights.
Tesla has upgraded the visual interface of the Model 3 to version 11 of their software. My vehicle is now running version 2021.44.30.7. The new interface hides critical functions of the vehicle required for safe operation of the vehicle, such as windscreen wipers, front and rear window defoggers behind the multiple menus of the user interface meaning unfamiliar drivers are unable to safely operate the vehicle. Previously these items were on the bottom status bar of the display. Telsa have placed entertainment options as the priority for the display versus safety options. Charging rates and associated energy safety options are similary hidden behind multiple menus or require the charge port to be opened to access functionality. The user interface of the vehicle is now more like a smartphone with attention to entertainment versus attention to safety. Critical controls need to be permanently on display on the top or bottom of the display so unfamilar drivers can readily access functionality for safe vehicle operation in all weather conditions. My wife, who drove the vehicle using the previous interface with controls clearly displayed on the bottom bar of the display, now feels completely unsafe in the vehicle, as multiple clicks through menus on the display are required to activate devices versus the single click on a function in the previous version. She now has to concentrate on the menu and divert her attention from the road to the display to active a function such as window defogging or wipers, presenting a serious hazardous situation for her and other road users. NHTSA and Tesla need to address the now unsafe condition of Tesla vehicles running this new user interface. Tesla in Europe has been subject to safety sanctions by government agencies for concealing critical vehicle functions including these.
The Dec 2021 software update changed the touchscreen drastically making it dangerous to use while driving. More time must be spent taking one's eyes off the road to find the icons, and more icons must be touched to control the component (e.g., turning on the defogger). I worry there will be an accident. Tesla customer service has been unresponsive. The chatbot told me to watch videos (which I did and which were unhelpful). No person has responded to my complaints and queries about how to revert the touchscreen to the previous version.
The latest update of the software (V11) has moved functions that were previously accessible on the main screen to a sub-screen requiring 3 touches compared to 1 before. These functions include the windshield defogger, rear defroster, and the seat heaters. This requires having to look and interact with the screen much longer than before, impacting safety. Prior software (V10) had buttons on the screen emulating those of other cars. These required 1 touch to.enable/disable the function. It now requires 3 touches: 1 to pull up the sub-panel, 1 to enable/disable, and 1 to dismiss the sub-panel. Also, the prior software allowed you to see the status of these functions on the screen. Now you have to touch the screen to pull up the sub-panel and touch again to dismiss.
Tesla released Software Version 11 in late December which removed several key functions from being persistent on the main screen (“one tap” access) and buried them in sub menus which makes them dangerous to access when driving.
display controls moved behind a sub-menu in v11 software update. very dangerous to the point of distraction to just turn on the defogger! Fonts are way too small. important icons/info now hidden behind two extra taps on touchscreen.
Tesla's newest V11 update for Model 3 removes frequently used features from direct access of the driver. Now many options that were one-tap require navigating into a menu system to control, forcing the driver to take their eyes off the road creating a dangerous situation. This update allows for limited customization to bring quick access to games to the screen, hiding defrost, heated seats, etc. Tesla does not allow users the long term choice to avoid major user interface design upheavals, defeating learned muscle memory in favor of 'newness'. This is not the first update that has made the car more difficult to operate in motion. If a user avoids an update, eventually Tesla forces the update or can refuse to troubleshoot an issue with the car. Unexpectedly Tesla says some connected features may also stop working. Tesla should offer security and connectivity bug fixes but a user defined choice on whether the car's control surface continues to radically change over the life of the vehicle. Given the absence of physical buttons, the continued obfuscation of basic functions over time makes the car less safe to operate. Image uploads show permanent features on screen bottom in V10 vs new game customizations in V11
Tesla changed the entire user interface with their software update to version 11. I believe that this software update will cause vehicle accidents since they removed quick access to critical features and replaced them with entertainment apps. As the driver of the vehicle I do not need quick access to video games / streaming services, and more importantly I should not have to go through several screens to access key functions like the window defrosters. Tesla removed quick access to the defrosters, the wiper controls, the seat heaters and tire pressure. Even the music player now causes driver distraction. This new update is an accident waiting to happen and is geared toward entertainment instead focusing on a safe driving experience. The windows that pop up on the screen even block critical features like wiper blade control. Tesla claims that since they removed the buttons for wipers and defrosters that I could use the voice command but with this new update the voice command feature usually crashes. The new icons for user interface a so small that they cause eye strain and make difficult to see the road after checking the screen. The bottom of the screen is stuck in night mode which also causes eye strain. Since this vehicle has no buttons just a touch screen this drastic change to the user interface is a serious safety hazard. Tesla needs to add an actual physical wiper control switch to their vehicles. The automatic wiper mode is defective because Tesla did not install rain sensors on their vehicles. Also the new software has a serious bug where the vehicle disables the safety systems (all cameras and the lane departure warning system). The vehicle safety systems were disabled on 12/26/21 and 12/30/21. I informed Tesla on both occasions and they saw this software flaw in my vehicle computer files. Please make sure that Tesla fixes their vehicle interface before someone crashes from distracted driving/difficulty using the touch screen interface.
The v11 software update buries many important buttons that were always up, to find basic functions needed for driving I now need to spend up to 15 seconds digging through multiple menus to say, turn on a defroster or the wipers.
Recent software update to the vehicle has made the care unsafe to drive. They completely reworked where all car control buttons on the main screen were located. They removed essential car function from the main screen. Specifically, windshield wiper control and defroster control are now buried in submenus. I am having to take my eyes off the road for 2-3 continuous seconds to find commands in these submenus and I can't tell you how unsafe this feels. Car windows/windshield fogs up and I can't find the defroster touchscreen button. Suddenly starts raining and I have to scramble to find windshield wiper touchscreen button. The touchscreen buttons for turning on fog lights and regular car lights are buried. This happened with a version 11 software update within the past few days. Before this - no problems. Please help us.
Latest update from Tesla moved commonly used features several layers deep into hard to manage screen menus. e.g windshield wipers. This now requires drivers to take their eyes of the road for several seconds to activate the functions.
Latest Tesla UI update, V11 (2021.44.25.2) is less user friendly, especially for essential control operations while driving. - Front, Rear Defrosters, and Seat Heaters are now buried in multiple tap menus. Windshield wiper adjustment option buried in multiple tap menus or unreliable swipe motion to reveal options. Areas where these buttons used to be are now "blank" spaces that were done for "aesthetics" more than "practical utility". - Menu options and notifications are narrower and too low for quick visbility (e.g. Car alerts, Windshield wiper adjustment). - Speedometer number is too thin and small. - Autopilot notification icon is much smaller, so it is less obvious to the user if the system is active or when it can be activated. - "One tap dashcam recording" now missing on Map screen. "Honking to save clip" may cause confusion to other drivers if wanting to save footage, so that is not a proper solution. - Map at night time is now much harder to see smaller/non main roads. Poor map contrast/visibility - Supercharging locations view requires multiple taps to get to and gives less "map view" of charging stations overall. Compared to one tap or able to persistently see charging locations on the map. - Interface unnecessarily expands all differnet audio source as different "icon buttons", so it may take longer for someone to look and find the correct option - UI mostly requires swiping up/down to expand or close out menus. This is a longer action than pressing an "X" button in the corner that was previously there. Aware that pressing the same icon will close the menu, but X is more intuitive and quicker than doing a full gesture swipe motion that may fail at times to bring back the proper Map menu.
Safety Issue - A matter of life or death Many times since I’ve owned the Model 3 in late 2018, I have repeatedly contacted the service representatives about the A/C vent blasting out hot air over 90 degrees. I was told a software update will fix the issue. However, many software updates have taken place, it is not fixed. This now looks like a physical issue with the design flaw. This needs to be fixed. It can mean life or death for my family and my dog sitting in the back seats. This issue can be reproduced when I drive the Tesla over a long distance over an hour. Please see other people has already document this issue on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JudtkliZNjo

The AC system seems to build up moisture in the evaporator or filter every year, and an unbearable smell eventually occurs every time the AC turns on (usually in the warm summer months). While tesla does say they recommend AC system maintenance (cleaning and filter replacement) every two years, the smell should not be the trigger or a symptom. I actually had my car serviced last year for this and paid $180, and the smell is already coming back almost exactly one year later. They are saying this is not a defect, it is something that i will have to pay for each time it occurs.
https://youtu.be/Q74d_rK5aKk Please find the above YouTube link that has the front camera video at the time crash. Issues: ======= 1.) Tesla auto emergency brake didn't alert or stop. 2.) Obstacle awareness didn't alert or stop the vehicle 3.) Lane keeping assistant didn't alert/warn. All autopilot basic safety settings were enabled.
Computer Box, chip or BRAIN OF THE CAR THAT CONTROLS EVERYTHING. We bought the car in palm spring Tesla Brand New & paid in full amt.. After 5 MONTHS, GLITCH & BLACK SCREEN IS ONE OF THE MANY PROBLEMS. I brought my car to Tesla & told then personally the GLITCH & BLACK SCREEN problem & they said they will RECORD IT IN THEIR SYSTEM. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN 2YRS OWNING THE CAR. Every time I brought my car to Tesla I always tell TESLA TO CHECK THE BLACK SCREEN & GLITCHING that always happen. All they said IT'S A MINOR PROBLEM JUST REBOOT IT. Sometimes the car SHUTOFF AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT A WARNING & COME BACK AFTER 10 MINS. TWICE HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING HIGHWAY 10 IN CA THE CAR SHUTOFF & ALL WENT GONE, NO HAZARD LIGHT, NO LEFT & RIGHT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT, NO BREAK LIGHT, NO HEADLIGHT & BLACK SCREEN APPEARED, MORE.ON JUNE 21, 2021 IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I was SCARED & I drove my car to the nearest service center in Rancho Cucamonga when it happened. They checked the car & THE PROBLEM WAS COMPUTER OF THE CAR. They told me my car was over 50K MILES & is out of warranty & I have to PAY OUT of POCKET. They told me my car history DOESN'T show record in their system reporting black screen or glitch & they WANT AT LEAST AN EVIDENCE that I SUBMITTED A REPORT to Tesla. I looked at my phone & I FOUND AN EVIDENCE WITH A VIDEO REPORTING TO TESLA BY EMAIL. After they saw STILL DENYING ALWAYS GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND. UNTIL THE MANAGER IN RANCHO CUCAMONGA TOLD ME IF I WILL NOT AGREE TO FIX MY CAR AND PAY OUT OF POCKET, THEY WILL RELEASE THE CAR WITHOUT FIXING IT & THEY WILL TAKE BACK MY RENTAL CAR. HAVING ME DRIVE MY CAR TO HOME WITHOUT BREAK LIGHT,.HEADLIGHT, TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS, HAZARD LIGHT, BLACK SCREEN & MORE. TESLA PALM SPRING DENIED & Rancho Cucamonga WILL NOT FIX IF I WILL NOT PAY OUT OF POCKET. EVEN MY BUG REPORT THEY TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T SEE MY REPORT. I HAVE NO CHOICE, I ended up paying $2k plus to fix the computer box that controls the car.
Car was parked in driveway and spontaneously caught fire at 4am; I suspect that ti was the 12v battery that leaked and corroded and caused a fire after looking at the security footage which showed that the fire originated in the frunk; Tesla say they are unable to find a cause of the fire, It has been 5 months since the incident.
After approximately 6 months after taking delivery of Model 3, a dank smell, like dirty socks emanates from A/C vents after car has been sitting in hot weather. This is a known problem with water remaining on a/c evaporator coils, thus creating a perfect environment for mold. Tesla refuses to cover this defect as part of their warranty even though they acknowledge the design flaw. Meanwhile, its customer are subjected to foul smelling mold each time the drive the vehicle in the warm weather.
FRONT SEATS HAVE A MANUAL DOOR RELEASE IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES. REAR OCCUPANTS DO NOT HAVE AN EMERGENCY DOOR RELEASE. I DO NOT WANT MY CHILDREN TO DIE IN A FIREBALL DEATH INSIDE THE CAR. PLEASE ASK TESLA TO RETROFIT THE FIX THEY PROVIDED TO OTHER MODEL 3 CARS. PLEASE SEE THIS VIDEO ON THE TESLA FIX: HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/M6REH0CSYZK (JUMP AHEAD TO THE 2 MIN MARK). MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE THIS ON EITHER SIDE FOR THE REAR OCCUPANTS. PLEASE SEE ATTACKED PICTURE.

SO FAR I KNOW ALL 2018 TESLA MODEL 3 IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH PEDESTRIANS WARNING SYSTEM.
I DISCOVERED A FLAW IN THE MODEL 3 HORN MECHANISM THAT YOU PRESS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE SEEN THE MECHANISM AND WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HORN BUTTON, YOU CAN HEAR THE MECHANISM CLICK, BUT IT'S NOT ACTIVATING THE HORN, YOU NEED TO APPLY ALOT OF PRESSURE ON THE SIDES FOR THE HORN TO ACTIVATE. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE MECHANISM REPLACED ONCE WITH TESLA AND IT'S THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE HEARD ABOUT OTHER MODEL 3 OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND TESLA NEEDS TO COME OUT WITH A BETTER HORN MECHANISM LIKE IN THE MODEL S OR MODEL X WHERE SERVICE CENTERS CAN ADJUST SENSITIVITY OF THE MECHANISM. NORMALLY IN OTHER CARS YOU CAN USE YOUR THUMB TO PRESS THE HORN ON THE LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE OF THE HORN MECHANISM, BUT IT'S TAKES ALOT OF PRESSURE EVEN IN THE MIDDLE. THE PHOTO I ATTACHED IS THE MECHANISM I AM TALKING ABOUT IN THE STEERING WHEEL.

MULTIPLE TIMES, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INDICATOR ON THE DASHBOARD SHOWED THE AIRBAG WAS NOT ACTIVATE DESPITE THE PASSENGER SEAT BEING OCCUPIED BY A 112 POUND PERSON WITH A BUCKLED SEAT BELT. THERE IS NO ACTIVE NOTIFICATION THAT THE AIRBAG IS DEACTIVATED IN THE PRESENCE OF INDICATIONS OF OCCUPANCY OF THAT SEAT. THIS COULD LEAD AN INATTENTIVE DRIVER OR PASSENGER TO BELIEVE EVERYONE IS SAFE WHEN, IN FACT, THE PASSENGER IS NOT SAFE.

I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE APPEAR AND DISAPPEAR INTERMITTENTLY FOR AS LONG AS I HAVE OWNER THIS CAR, SINCE JULY 2018. TESLA HAS NOT REPAIRED THIS ISSUE. THE REARVIEW CAMERA IS UNRELIABLE AT BEST. I CAN SEND MORE IMAGES IF NEEDED TAKEN AFTER MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF THE SAME ISSUE.

THE LARGE TOUCH SCREEN THAT CONTROLS A MAJORITY OF FUNCTIONS IN THE VEHICLE WILL TURN OFF RANDOMLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. I AM DRIVING AT 65MPH+ AMD ON A HIGHWAY AND HAVE NO VISIBILITY OF WHAT MY ACTUAL SPEED IS AS IT IS DISPLAYED ON THE TOUCH SCREEN. ADDITIONALLY, THE TURN SIGNALS ARE ALSO TURNED OFF WHEN THE SCREEN SHUTS OFF. I AM PUT INTO A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION WHERE I CANT USE MY TURN SIGNALS AND CANT VIEW MY SPEED. THIS IS NOT A SOLITARY INCIDENT - THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.

THERE IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE ON TESLA FORUMS REGARDING WATER ACCUMULATING IN THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THIS HAD LEAD TO THE REAR BUMPER COMING OFF WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION ON THE STREET. ONLY RECENTLY DID TESLA RELEASE A SURVIVE BULLETIN ABOUT IT. HOWEVER, THEY WILL NOT FIX THE CAR UNLESS SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS FIRST. I BELIEVE MY CAR, AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS, ARE AFFECTED. MY CAR LEAKS A LOT OF WATER IN THE GARAGE AFTER COMING HOME FROM A RAINY DAY. I HAVE TO LINE MY GARAGE FLOOR WITH TOWELS TO PREVENT WATER DAMAGE TO THE WALLS THERE IS SO MUCH WATER. I AM AFRAID I WILL BE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE BUMPER WILL COME OFF. I BELIEVE TESLA SHOULD FIX THE KNOWN ISSUE NOW BEFORE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS, NOT AFTER THE FACT. THIS IS UNSAFE.

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF PARKED IN PUBLIC AREAS FOR A DAY OR TWO AND IF THERE WERE FOUL WEATHER OR THIEVES. THEY SHOULD FIX THIS. THE DATE SHOWN BELOW IS FOR THE LAST TIME.

MY TESLA MODEL 3 HAS AN ISSUE KNOW AS PHANTOM TOUCH, WHICH, BASED ON THE TESLA FORMS IS NOT A PROBLEM THAT IS UNIQUE TO ME, BUT IT OCCURS WITH MANY EARLY PRODUCTION MODEL 3S. ACCORDING TO THE DISCUSSIONS IN TESLA FORUMS, PHANTOM TOUCH IS A HARDWARE PROBLEM THAT IS RESOLVED BY REPLACING THE TOUCH SCREEN. PHANTOM TOUCH HAS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES, THE FIRST TWO WERE WHEN I FIRST GOT IN THE CAR, AND I JUST REBOOTED THE SYSTEM BEFORE DRIVING. THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND IT CREATED A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE SCREEN PICKS UP PHANTOM SIGNALS AND STARTS CHANGING THINGS LIKE RADIO VOLUME AND CHANNELS, HVAC SETTINGS ETC. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, IT ALSO TURNS ON AN OFF WIPERS AND HEADLIGHTS. IT WAS A GOOD THING WHEN IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IT WAS DAYLIGHT WITH NO RAIN, IF IT WERE DARK OR RAINING IT COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. BASED ON THE MESSAGES ON THE SCREEN IT SEEMS THAT THE CAMERA AND OTHER SAFETY SYSTEMS MAY HAVE ALSO BEEN DISABLED BY PHANTOM TOUCH, AND ONE OF THE SCREENS THAT APPEARED WHILE IT WAS GOING CRAZY WAS TO CHANGE THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE WHILE ON CRUISE CONTROL. I GAVE TESLA THE DATE AND TIME OF THE LAST PROBLEM, NOTING THAT IT OCCURRED ON JUNE 16 AT 11 AM PLUS OR MINUS 10 MINUTES. I WAS SURPRISED WHEN THEY SAID A REPAIR COULD NOT BE MADE UNLESS I WAS MORE EXACT WITH THE TIME OF THE ISSUE SO LOGS COULD BE REVIEWED, AND I NEEDED TO DOCUMENT THE OCCURRENCE BY MY TAKING A PICTURE OF THE SCREEN 'GOING WILD' (I GUESS WHILE DRIVING). I FEEL THAT MY JUST REPORTING THAT I HAD THE ISSUE, AND THAT IT CREATED A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION, SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUFFICIENT TO HAVE TESLA FIX THE PROBLEM. I GUESS TESLA IS WAITING FOR SOME ACCIDENTS TO OCCUR BEFORE ADMITTING IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR

UNINTENDED SUDDEN SELF ACCELERATION CAR WAS SITTING AT COMPLETE STOP FOR 1-2 MINUTES. NO MUSIC WAS PLAYING, AND I WAS NOT ON PHONE. WHILE THE LIGHT WAS STILL RED, THE CAR SUDDENLY SELF-ACCELERATED, WAS PROPELLED FORWARD FORCEFULLY, WITH EXTREME, INTENSE VELOCITY. THE CAR WAITING IN FRONT OF MINE WAS IMPACTED, AS WELL AS THE CAR IN FRONT OF THIS CAR. BOTH WERE LARGE SUVS, AND BOTH WERE DAMAGED. IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT 2 HEAVY SUV'S WERE ABLE TO STOP THE TESLA, WHICH WAS OUT OF MY CONTROL. THE TESLA AIRBAGS WERE ACTIVATED, AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY DETERMINED THE CAR A TOTAL LOSS, AN INDICATION HOW POWERFUL THE ACCELERATION MUST HAVE BEEN.

ON NOVEMBER 14, 2019 MY CAR WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT I STRONGLY BELIEVE THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WITH THE ACCELERATOR SENSORS OR THE ACCELERATOR ITSELF. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AGGRESSIVELY AS MY SISTER WAS PARKING THE CAR. SHE WAS GOING SLOW AS SHE PARKED THE VEHICLE AND AS SHE DROVE INTO THE STALL, THE VEHICLE SPED UP AGGRESSIVELY AND SHE COULD NOT STOP IT. WE HAVE VIDEOS (COULDN'T UPLOAD) THAT ALSO SHOW THE WHEELS KEEP GOING EVEN THOUGH IT HAD ALREADY MADE CONTACT WITH THE PILLAR AND NOBODY IS PRESSING THE PEDAL. ANOTHER CONCERN WE HAVE IS WHY NONE OF THE CRASH AVOIDANCE MECHANISM TOOK OVER, THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY SETTINGS DIDN'T STOP THE VEHICLE FROM CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE AND DRIVE RIGHT INTO THE PILLAR. WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. WE ARE AVAILABLE TO TALK WITH YOU ABOUT THE DETAILS OF THE ACCIDENT. WE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TESLA AND THEY CLAIM IT IS USER ERROR, BUT MY SISTER IS 100% SURE SHE DIDN'T PRESS THE PEDAL. WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH THIS INVESTIGATION. WE UNDERSTAND THERE ARE OTHERS THAT HAVE FILED SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT TYPE OF INVESTIGATION TESLA DID TO CONCLUDE IT WAS USER ERROR. WE BELIEVE THE SENSORS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THIS IS THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT, BUT WE DON'T HAVE ANY WAY OF KNOWING WHAT KIND OF SCRUTINY TESLA DID IN THEIR PART TO LOOK INTO WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED, ALSO JUST BECAUSE THEIR RECORDS INDICATE THAT THE PEDAL WAS PRESSED, WE HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THIS IS TRULY THE CASE INSTEAD OF THE SENSORS ACTUALLY INACCURATELY SENSING THAT A FOOT WAS NEARBY. -- [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

ON 01-03-2020 AT APPROX 1 PM PST WHILE DRIVING SOUTHBOUND ON HWY 5 AT 77 MILES PER HOUR, I HAD "AUTOPILOT" ENGAGED. A FEW TIMES THE RADIO CUT OUT AND ALL ICONS APPEARED ON THE SCREEN. REPEATED CHIMING WAS AUDIBLE. I THEN TRIED TO DISENGAGE "AUTOPILOT" BY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. "AUTOPILOT" WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. I THEN APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CAR SLOWED DOWN BUT WHEN I RELEASED THE BRAKE THE CAR SPED BACK UP TO THE PREVIOUS SPEED. "AUTOPILOT" WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. THE SCREEN REBOOTED ITSELF AND DURING THAT TIME I ATTEMPTED TO DISENGAGE THE "AUTOPILOT" WHICH WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. WHEN THE SCREEN CAME BACK ON AFTER THIS FIRST REBOOT IT WAS FROZEN AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ANY INPUT OR TOUCH. "AUTOPILOT" WAS STILL ENGAGED. THE SCREEN THEN REBOOTED A SECOND TIME AND WHEN IT CAME BACK ON IS WHEN I COULD ONLY THEN FULLY DISENGAGE THE "AUTOPILOT".

ON 11/28/19 AT AROUND 5:30-6:00AM, WHILE DRIVING ON THE 5 SOUTH FREEWAY NEAR THE ATLANTIC AVE OFF RAMP, THE CAR SWERVED TO THE RIGHT ON ITS OWN. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR'IT HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN. THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL DID NOT RESPOND TO ME. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. I DON'T KNOW IF THE SIDE CAMERA THOUGHT THE SUV WAS VEERING INTO MY LANE BECAUSE THE RAIN DISTORTED ITS VIEW OR WHAT BUT IT WAS VERY SCARY. IT WAS AS IF THE CAR WAS DRIVING ITSELF EVEN THOUGH AUTOPILOT WAS NOT ON. I COULD NOT RIGHT THE CAR AFTER THE INITIAL SWERVE, IT KEPT ON GOING, HEADING TOWARDS THE EXIT BUT ENDED UP GOING OVER AN EMBANKMENT, HEADING STRAIGHT FOR A TREE BEFORE TURNING AND SIDESWIPING IT AND COMING TO A STOP. THANK GOODNESS NO ONE WAS HURT. IT WAS STILL DARK AND IT WAS RAINING BUT NOT POURING. THE FREEWAY WAS EMPTY. I WAS IN THE 3RD LANE AND THERE WAS A BLACK SUV RIGHT NEXT TO ME IN THE LANE #2. I DID NOT SEE IT VEER INTO ME; WE WERE BOTH GOING ABOUT 70MPH IN OUR OWN LANES. I HAD BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL, NO MUSIC WAS PLAYING AND AUTOPILOT WAS NOT ON'THOUGH NAVIGATION ON AUTOPILOT WAS ACTIVATED. I CONTACTED TESLA RIGHT AWAY AND THEY TEXTED THAT THE INCIDENT TEAM AND ENGINEERING TEAM WERE LOOKING INTO IT, DOWNLOADING THE DATA (I DID NOT HAVE A USB SO I DON'T HAVE ANY RECORDING OF ANYTHING). SO FAR, I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THESE TESLA TEAMS AND MY CAR STILL HAS COLLISION DAMAGE AS THE TESLA REP I SPOKE WITH ADVISED ME TO WAIT ON THE FINDINGS AND NOT TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY IN CASE THEY FIND TESLA'S AT FAULT. TESLA SERVICE CENTER DID CHECK OUT MY CAR ON 12/2/19 AND RELEASED IT TO ME, DEEMING THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR IN THE RAIN WHILE IT'S DARK SINCE. HELLO- I WAS TRYING TO PARK MY VEHICLE IN A PARKING SPOT IN SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA WHEN THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY ACCELERATED AND HIT ANOTHER CAR. IT THEN IMMEDIATELY HAD A FLAT TIRE. OUR 2018 TESLA MODEL 3 HAS NEVER PROVIDED A CLEAR IMAGE OF THE REAR CAMERA FEED. I WAS PULLING INTO A DRIVEWAY WHEN MY FOUR WEEK OLD TESLA MODEL 3, UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED FOR NO OBVIOUS REASON. IT FELT LIKE CAR WAS FLYING AT A HIGH SPEED AND I HAD NO CONTROL. IN A BLURR, WE WERE SURROUNDED BY INFLATED AIRBAGS ON ALL SIDES IN A SMOKE FILLED CAR AND I REALIZED CAR HAD CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE DOOR AND NOW WAS PINNED UNDER A CRUMPLED GARAGE DOOR. IN SECONDS, AN EVERYDAY INSTANCE OF PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY HAD SUDDENLY CHANGED INTO A NIGHTMARE.

I WAS AT THE SUPERCHARGING STATION IN DUBLIN ( CALIFORNIA) . WHEN I WANTED TO TAKE REVERSE AND PARK MY CAR FOR SUPERCHARGING.MY CAR SHOWED THE OPTION OF AUTOPARK. SINCE THERE WAS AN OPEN SPOT AVAILABLE FOR PARKING MY CAR (WHERE MY CAR FITS PROPERLY - AS PER TESLA GUIDELINES) .I STARTED AUTO PARKING ,IN AUTOPARK FEATURE USUALLY THE CAR COMES CLOSE TO THE OTHER CAR AND THEN TAKES NECESSARY TURN. BUT IN MY CASE THE CAR CAME VERY CLOSE TO THE OTHER CAR AND INSTEAD OF STOPPING IT SPEEDED UP AND DASHED TO THE OTHER CAR IN THE PARKING SPOT. MY CAR HAS COLLISION PREVENTION PLUS IT PROVIDES ACCURATE DISTANCE IF THERE IS SOME OBJECT BEHIND MY CAR, BUT IN THIS CAR NEITHER OF THE SYSTEMS ALERTED ME AND LED TO A CRASH.I RAISED A COMPLAINT TO TESLA ABOUT THE AUTO PARK FEATURES PROBLEM BUT HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY ANY WORD FROM THEM. I HAVE ATTACHED THE IMAGES OF THE CAR.

SAFETY ISSUE WITH REAR DOORS. REAR PASSENGERS AND SPECIALLY CHILDREN WHO ARE UNABLE TO EXIT THROUGH THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CAN BECOME TRAPPED IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE OR MAJOR COLLISION THAT DISABLES THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE DOORS. FRONT DOORS ARE EQUIPPED WITH EMERGENCY RELEASE LATCH HOWEVER, REAR DOORS HAVE NO SUCH SAFETY BACKUP IN A LIFE AND DEATH SITUATION.

WHOSE CRIMINAL LIABILITY IS THE INDEPENDENT GUIDE? SELF-DRIVING CARS MUST BE BANNED FOR LEGAL REASONS WITHOUT PERSONAL LIABILITY.
HERE IS A VIDEO THAT HAS JUST BEEN UPLOADED TO YOUTUBE: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=4GUHSMIPIQ4 THIS OWNER THINKS IT IS PERFECTLY SAFE TO JAM SOME FRUIT IN THE STEERING WHEEL TO ELIMINATE THE "HOLD STEERING WHEEL" NAGS. HE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A COMPLETE IDIOT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT HE HAS BEEN MISLEAD BY THE HYPE SPREAD BY TESLA AND CEO ELON MUSK. DESPITE SEVERAL FATAL CRASHES MUSK IS STILL SPREADING THE MESSAGE THAT NHTSA FOUND AUTOPILOT IS 40% SAFER THAN A HUMAN DRIVER. NHTSA HAS NOW REVEALED THAT THE CLAIM WAS BASED ON TESLA'S OWN (UNVERIFIED) DATA. MORE PEOPLE WILL DIE UNLESS THIS UNCONTROLLED AND HIGHLY DANGEROUS EXPERIMENT IS HALTED IMMEDIATELY. PLEASE DO SOMETHING. THANK YOU. DEEPLY CONCERNED CITIZEN.
