I am reporting a safety concern related to the suspension system in my 2017 Tesla Model X. The front tires are rubbing against the wheel arch liner, especially when turning or driving over uneven terrain. I have not made any aftermarket modifications, and the vehicle has been maintained in accordance with Tesla’s recommendations. This issue appears to match the known problem involving front suspension fore link failures documented in NHTSA investigations and prior complaints for 2016–2017 Model X vehicles. While I have not experienced a complete suspension failure, the current symptoms are consistent with reported cases where the fore links weaken or fail, causing the wheel to shift and contact the fender liner, leading to tire damage, unusual noises, and potential safety risks. I have reported this to Tesla, but they have not acknowledged this as a known issue for my VIN. However, NHTSA previously identified over 400 instances of similar failure and recommended that Tesla expand their service bulletin to include more vehicles. This is a critical safety concern as it can lead to premature tire wear, loss of control, and further suspension failure. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether Tesla should issue a recall or cover this repair under a broader service campaign.
The Monitor Screen in the middle of the car is not malfunction. It's not working. All the panels on the steering are also not work. the honk is not working. Nothing is working. It could be due to the internet connection.
Hello, There is a major safety issue with the Tesla Model X. Specifically, it allows unrestricted access to YouTube and video games, which appeal to children, when the car is not on and when there is no key in the vehicle. As a result, my children go to the Model X where they are unsupervised in order to access YouTube and video games. Today, the temperature of the car exceeded 110 degrees with my child in the car. Fortunately we realized that he was out there and got him out, cooled him down, and got him water. We need the ability to disable YouTube, video games, and other content that appeal to children in the Model X. Tesla has failed to update the software on the car as per the recall notice. Tesla is requesting me to pay 2500$ to upgrade the hardware so they can update the recall hardware. I had reached out to Tesla more than three different times and been waiting for more than 4 months for Tesla to provide the resolution for recall which Tesla has failed to provide as yet t no cost. This is a major safely concerns and due to this I am afraid to drive this car.

Took vehicle in for manufacturer 8Gb eMMC recall. Replacement of eMMC caused delamination of instrument cluster display. Dealership claims this is a “known problem” and refuse to repair since car is out of warranty. The lack of instrument cluster is clearly dangerous. Car has been sent to the shop twice for the axles / half shafts and also two times for the front drive unit
MCU1 FSD beta still not working and nothing has been addressed from Tesla. Tesla states we will MCU1 will be supported for fsd.
Dashboard or driver screen suddenly goes black while driving (and at other times will freeze on a certain speed, despite slowing down, or breaking.) At this point, driver does not know what speed he, or she is traveling at, nor what gear. Response from Tesla is to reboot the car. However, these episodes while driving continue and are very dangerous. Tesla is pushing paying $2000 to get an infotainment upgrade to solve this safety issue which seems to be a defect in the car.
Tesla’s entire car function (rear view camera, windshield heating, rear defrost) is supported by the center screen system. In Gen1 model X it uses a Gen 1 computer. Over the last 4 months. The screen blanks out while driving. I can’t access car functions. This happens while driving so it’s super dangerous. Only way to resolve the issue is to press a few more UI buttons on the screen. This impairs all car functions. I’ve submitted this a couple times to Tesla now and they say that this is a software issue they have not been able to resolve and they’re asking me to pay $2000 to get their next generation center console. I’ve mentioned that this is a safety risk as this can happen while driving, which makes me take my eyes off the road to fix the problem on the center console. They don’t seem to care about it. This is happened to multiple drivers according to the technician I spoke to, and they have not solved the issue. I recorded my last service with Tesla, and I have proof of them speaking of this issue.
When exiting an on-ramp on a freeway, the car suddenly veered to the left on its own, almost colliding into another vehicle. There was no dangerous activity nor any stopped cars anywhere around the car.
The factory installed trailer hitch receiver fell off while towing an empty trailer. I installed the trailer hitch receiver making sure the knob was in the green markings. The trailer was empty and within limits for the vehicle. I towed it about a mile in town. When driving over a manhole cover at an intersection I heard a loud bang and the receiver fell off. The trailer safety chains continued to pull the trailer. When stopping the vehicle, the trailer hit the rear of the vehicle and caused damage. It could have been a lot worse had I been traveling at speed.
Original infotainment MCU1 with upgraded memory continues to not allow service mode to initialize. Also screen goes black with no connectivity to the car from my phone app, no access to temperature control, or GPS mapping. No access to any seat controls or door controls. This occurred for 1 hour while driving to home. System is operational again - 10 days later with no driving in between. Tesla service came out to diagnose and are not sure of the cause, however failure cause safety issues for passenger overheating and control functions to operate the car as well as diagnose the issue.
Touchscreen turns off/goes blank while driving; lose air conditioning, rear view camera, etc. Dash Screen widgets/displays do not load and flashes between light gray and back to black while driving. I received a recall notice for the vehicle/touchscreen eMMC. I previously brought my vehicle in service in Nov, 2021 and received the vehicle back in Dec, 2021 and noticed no better functionality with the new 64gb part vs the old 8gb part. I later received a software update around February 2022 (software version 2021.24, about 12months after initial release). Immediately after that software update I began having the above issues with the Touchscreen and Dash screen. I called technical support over the phone and they said my vehicle was eligible for the recall (which I thought had been completed) and advised I make a service appointment for the eMMC recall.
Driver display fails. Speed is shown incorrectly, then screen blacks out, Tesla symbol appears and then restarts. Unit has been brought in for repairs and was replaced with remanufactured part. Problem persists. Infotainment unit was repaired with remanufactured part to upgrade memory deficiency from 8 gb to 64gb. Problems with unit remains the same. Unit will crash, not respond to verbal commands, turn signal will not chime, information will not display, climate control will fail.
Repeated failure of driver's screen. Screen goes blank and then reboots automatically. During that time, the speedometer and all other controls visible from driver's screen are unavailable to the driver. Was told that it would be fixed by a software fix eventually. Now they will fix the problem for $2,000. Will ask them to save all parts.
The car, while "autopilot is engaged" will slam on the brakes on the highway for no reason. It is extremely scary and happens frequently.
The hardware for the over all running of the car is failing. Maps do not load or load very slowly when on a trip the supercharge locations do not load or load very slowly, could lead to running out of charge or getting lost on the road. screen continues to flicker even after recall was supposedly fixed.
The MCU screen (large touch screen in the center of dashboard) has been malfunctioning. This started a few months ago when screen seemed to "crash" -- as I'm driving, the screen will turn black and take a long time to come back. On other occasions the map won't load and I receive a notice for "network error" (and have 5g service and not a satellite problem.) This would happen on and off for the past few months. I reported it back in March and was told they would order parts and get back to me and haven't. Then the 12 volt battery died and they replaced it but the MCU problems didn't go away. The last time I drove it, the screen froze up, then turned black and didn't come back on. The collision warning, lane assistance, and adaptive cruise control and steering all stopped working. I COULD engage the auto pilot and cruise control (the notification showed on the small dash board on top of the steering wheel, that they were both engaged) however, they didn't work. I set the car to 65 on the highway and the cruise control wouldn't go over 50. Also, on the back roads, the car drove straight through stop signs without stopping.
Repeated violations of autopilot safety systems has forced Tesla to activate in cabin cameras to be used as an additional safety device for driver monitoring. Not all vehicles have in cabin cameras and should be installed for increased safety concerns

MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY AND THE MCU IS FAILING. I ASKED TESLA ABOUT CHANGING THE CHIP OR REPLACE THE UNIT WITH THE MCU2 UNIT THEY REFUSED TO DO EITHER. I HAVE 49500 ON THE CAR IN LESS THAN 500 MILES I'LL BE OUT OF WARRANTY AND I CAN'T AT THIS TIME AFFORD TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE RECENTLY HAD TO REBOOT THE UNIT SEVERAL TIMES TO WORK AND IT'S GETTING SLOWER AND SLOWER. I'M AFRAID SOON LIKE MANY OTHER TESLA MODELS IT WILL GO DEAD AT MY EXPENSE.
MAIN SCREEN (INSTRUMENTAL PANEL) TURNS OFF AND REBOOTS WHILE DRIVING. THE SYSTEM REBOOTS AND ALL VEHICLE FUNCTIONS TURN OFF AND ARE INACCESSIBLE DURING THE REBOOT PROCESS. TESLA SERVICE CENTER STATED IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE. HAPPENS FREQUENTLY

MY TESLA SCREEN IS HAVING THE IDENTICAL ISSUES OUTLINED IN YOUR REQUEST FOR RECALL. I'VE REACHED OUT TO TESLA 3 DIFFERENT TIMES AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME TO RESET THE SCREEN. IT'S INFURIATING THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO OWN UP TO A STUPID SCREEN IN A CAR THAT COST OVER $80,000.

I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS AND IN THIS TIME I HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN OVER 10 TIMES. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE VISITS FOR BOTH MY IN-CAR DASH SLOW, FREEZING, OR RESTARTING AND I HAVE HAD 3 VISITS RELATING TO WHAT I BELIEVE IS MY SUSPENSION NOT WORKING. MCU UNIT- THIS HAS STOPPED WORKING WHILE STARTING MY CAR WHERE THE SCREEN WOULD NOT LOAD AS WELL AS WHILE IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY WHERE THE UNIT WILL FREEZE. I HAVE NOTICED IT MORE OFTEN WHEN ON LONGER ROAD TRIPS BUT IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED DURING DAY TO DAY ACTIVITY. SUSPENSION: WHILE UNDER WARRANTY I RECEIVED A MESSAGE SAYING THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY SUSPENSION, TESLA DIAGNOSTICS COULD NOT DETERMINE A PROBLEM BUT THEY PROACTIVELY FIXED A PART. NOT SURE IF THIS IS KNOWN PART THAT WAS FAILING BUT IT WAS A PROACTIVE APPROACH. MONTHS LATER I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN B/C IT WAS MAKING A LOUD MOTOR NOISE, THEN HISSING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN MY GARAGE. I DID NOT KNOW AT THE TIME BUT I THINK THIS MAY HAVE BEEN THE 1ST SIGNS OF A LEAK IN MY SUSPENSION SYSTEM. ONCE AGAIN TESLA COULD NOT DIAGNOSIS OR RECREATE THE PROBLEM. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER FROM THAT VISIT TO THE SERVICE CENTER MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT RAISE OR LOWER. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT IT NEEDED TO BE BROUGHT TO THE SERVICE CENTER SO INITIALLY I THOUGHT IT MAY JUST BE AN ISSUE BECAUSE IT WAS VERY COLD OUTSIDE. AFTER TAKING IT IN AGAIN, TESLA TRIED A REPAIR THAT WAS GOING TO COST ABOUT $500, THE NEXT DAY THEY TOLD ME THE REPAIR DID NOT TAKE AND A MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE REPAIR WOULD BE NECESSARY ABOUT $6,000. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAT 100,000 MILES ON IT AND I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SUSPENSION FAILING AS I HAVE READ A LOT OF INFORMATION OF OTHER TESLAS HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. WITHOUT A 3-RD PARTY TO TAKE IT TO IN MY AREA, I FELT I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY THE FEE AND LET TESLA FIX IT. TESLA DISCOUNTED BY 10%.

WHILE DRIVING IN AUTOPILOT MY MCU (TESLA CONTROLLER) OCCASIONALLY FAILS. THIS MEANS THE AUTOPILOT COMPUTER WORKS FINE BUT ALL AUDIO NOTIFICATIONS DO NOT WORK. THE AUTOPILOT WILL CHANGE LANES FOR ME WITHOUT THE NORMAL AUDITORY NOTIFICATION. TURN SIGNALS ARE SILENT. THE MCU WILL THEN COMPLETELY FREEZE (NO TOUCH INPUT AND GPS FROZEN WHILE DRIVING) REQUIRING EITHER A MANUAL REBOOT BY MYSELF OR IT CRASHES COMPLETELY AND REBOOTS ITSELF. 5 VISITS TO MY SERVICE CENTER IN THE PAST 13 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE HAVE NOT RESULTED IN A RESOLUTION. THEY TELL ME THEY "FLASHED THE STORAGE" OR "UPGRADED THE FIRMWARE" BUT THE CAR CONTINUES TO PROVE THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. AUTOPILOT FUNCTIONING WITHOUT NOTIFYING THE USER OF MANEUVERS COULD BE DEADLY. IT IS A SELF DRIVING CAR BUT STILL REQUIRES DRIVERS TO PAY ATTENTION AND TAKE OVER IF AUTOPILOT MAKES A FAULTY DECISION. I HAVE VIDEOS OF THIS HAPPENING. ATTACHED I HAVE UPLOADED INVOICES FROM THE SERVICE CENTER SHOWING I HAVE BROUGHT MCU FAILURE ISSUES TO THEM ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES. NOTE THAT LINE ITEM 14 ON THE INVOICE DATED 01132021 TESLA INACCURATELY STATES MY NO AUDIO ON AUTOMATIC LANE CHANGE ISSUE. I REQUESTED THEY REPHRASE THIS ISSUE TO THE ISSUE I REPORTED BUT THEY REFUSE TO PUT THIS IN WRITING. WHY? SUSPICIOUS.

TOUCHSCREEN TURNS BLANK. THIS TOUCHSCREEN IN TESLA WHICH IS THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF MANY CRUCIAL CONTROLS IN THE CAR TURNED BLANK AND UNRESPONSIVE. IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING WITH BLANK SCREEN AND REPEATED RESET BUTTON PRESSES TO GET THE SCREEN TO WORK AGAIN. THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND WAS MORE PRONOUNCED IN COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS. TESLA CLAIMS TO RUN A REPAIR PROGRAM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT WITH SERVICE CENTER AND THEY CALLED ME TO INFORM THAT THEY WILL NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR BY REPLACING THE MMC BUT WILL DO A SOFTWARE RESET OF SOME KIND AND SEE IF IT GOES AWAY. GIVEN THE SAFETY CONCERN INVOLVED WITH TOUCHSCREEN CONTROL GOING BLANK AND THEY THEMSELVES RUNNING A PROGRAM TO REPAIR, NOW REFUSING TO REPAIR IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD. I REQUEST NHTSA TO COMPEL TESLA TO MAKE ALL NECESSARY REPAIR AND REIMBURSE OWNERS.

WHEN THIS HAPPENS MY REAR VIEW/ BACK UP CAMERA GOES BLACK, MY HEATING AND AIR CONDTITIONING SHUTS OFF, MY RADIO AND BLUE TOOTH SHUTS OFF. I CAN STILL DRIVE THE CAR BUT IS VERY LIMITED. THIS CAN LAST FOR 5 MINUTES OR UP TO 15 MINUTES. I CANNOT PREDICT WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE SAME DAYS, OTHER TIMES A WEEK WILL GO BY WITHOUT IT HAPPENING. TESLA CONTACTED ME ABOUT THIS AND OFFERED A FIX: THEY WOULD UNDER WARRANTY INSTALL A NEW EMMC CHIP AND THAT THIS WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I DID THIS, TESLA HAD MY CAR FOR A WEEK AND THEY PERFORMED THE FIX. IT DID NOT WORK AND MY SCREEN CONTINUES TO MALFUNCTION, IT IS VERY UNSETTLING. THIS CAN, AND HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN I AM: DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, DRIVING THROUGH MY NEIGHBORHOOD, DRIVING WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR, AND WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR UP IN THE MORNING. I HAVE ATTACHED 2 PHOTOS I TOOK WHEN THIS HAPPENED 2 SEPARATE TIMES IN THE LAST 24 HOURS. BOTH TIMES I WAS DRIVING WHEN IT OCCURRED . THIS IS AFTER I HAVE HAD THE REPAIR THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

ON MULTIPLE OCCASSIONS (SOMETIMES WHILE STATIONARY AND SOMETIMES WHILE MOVING), THE MEDIA CONTROL UNIT (MCU) HAS BECOME INOPERABLE. IF IT OCCURS PRIOR TO A TRIP, THIS MEANT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DRIVE FOR THE SEVERAL MINUTES IT TAKES TO PERFORM A RE-BOOT. WHEN IT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING, IT MEANT THAT THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS COULD NOT BE USED AND/OR ADJUSTED: THE REAR VIEW CAMERA, THE RADIO VOLUME, THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL, THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM, AND POSSIBLY OTHERS. I HAVE PROVIDED TESLA WITH TIME STAMPS OF ALMOST ALL FAILURE EVENTS AND TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THEIR SERVICE CENTERS 3 DIFFERENT TIMES. ALTHOUGH AN ASPECT OF THIS MCU (THE "EMMC") IS KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE AND THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY, TESLA HAS REPEATEDLY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE MCU. INSTEAD THEY HAVE, ON THE LATEST SERVICE APPOINTMENT, INDICATED THERE ARE "FPGA ERRORS" AND THERE IS A "FIRMWARE BUG" THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND THAT THIS FIRMWARE BUG WILL BE ADDRESSED WITH A PENDING FIRMWARE UPDATE. IN THE MEANTIME, THEY SUGGEST PERFORMING A "RE-BOOT" OF THE SYSTEM EVERY TIME IT FAILS. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS MAY CAUSE FOR AN UNSAFE DRIVING SITUATION AND HOPE THAT THE NHTSA WILL COMPEL TESLA TO RECALL VEHICLES FROM THIS ERA (FROM WHICH THE MCUS ARE KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE).

VEHICLE NOT ABLE TO SUPERCHARGE DUE TO SALVAGE TITLE, VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO SUPERCHARGE FOR A YEAR AND TURNED OFF WITH OUT NOTICE OR WARNING. VEHICLE HAS NOT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO HIGH VOLTAGE COMPONENTS AND PASSED TESLA HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM INSPECTION. NOTIFIED SUPERCHARGING IS PERMANENTLY DISABLED FOR BOTH TESLA AND THIRD PARTY DC FAST CHARGING MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO RODE TRIP ON THE VEHICLE. I ATTACHED INVOICES FOR PAYED CHARGING VEHICLE NOW NOT SUPERCHARGING DISABLED.

THE MCU ON THE VEHICLE HAS ISSUES WITH IT SHUTTING DOWN AND GOING BLANK. ALSO MANY MCU FUNCTIONS AREN'T ABLE TO BE USED DURING THESE PERIODS. THERE'S BEEN TIMES A RESET DOESN'T RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND TESLA HAD TO FIX THE VEHICLE. TESLA ISSUED A WARRANTY ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. MCU1 CAME WITH AN ANALOG RADIO. MCU2 WORKS WITH THEIR NEWER DIGITAL RADIO. ALL THAT IS NEEDED IS TO PROVISION THE RADIO IN THE MCU2 UNIT VIA THE TESLA TOOLBOX SOFTWARE, INSTALL THE NEW RADIO AND INSTALL AN ADAPTER CABLE THAT TAKES POWER FROM THE ANALOG RADIO HARNESS, CONNECTS TO THE NEW RADIO FOR POWER AND ETHERNET DATA, AND THEN CONNECTS THE ETHERNET FROM THE RADIO TO MCU2. MY VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITH SUCH FORCE THAT THE POLICE OFFICER THOUGHT MY VEHICLE WAS GOING AT LEAST 25MPH WHEN IT HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. AFTER USING AUTOPILOT FOR 20 MIN MY CAR SUDDENLY MOVED LEFT AND THEN IMMEDIATELY MOVED TO THE RIGHT. I WAS HOLDING HANDS ON THE WHEEL AND TOOK WHEEL CONTROL. IN 2 MINUTES AFTER RESTARTING AUTOPILOT, MY CAR MOVED SUDDENLY LEFT AND THEN RIGHT, MOVING TO THE RIGHT LANE. I TOOK CONTROL QUICKLY, BUT THE ONLY REASON THE ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED BECAUSE THE DRIVER OF SUV ON THE NEXT LANE. HE HIT THE BRAKES AND CHANGED LANES TO ESCAPE THE ACCIDENT. I REPORTED TO TESLA SERVICE REQUESTING A FULL INVESTIGATION AND UNINSTALL AUTOPILOT SYSTEM FROM MY CAR. MY CAR WAS IN THEIR SERVICE FOR A MONTH. I TOOK MY 3 YEAR OLD SON TO THE TESLA SHOWROOM IN FASHION ISLAND NEWPORT BEACH CA. MY SON SAT IN THE 3RD ROW TRYING IT OUT, THEN HE TRIED TO EXIT FROM THE SIDE.
