TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND DEALERSHIP MENTIONED THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I KEEP GETTING LETTERS FROM YOU BY THE WEEK AND MY AVIN SHOWS ON YOUR RECALL DATABASE. WHEN I GO TO THE MANUFACTURER'S DATABASE, IT DOESN'T. SO, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
WE WERE HIT HEAD ON IN A COLLISION ON 5/5/2017 AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT AND SIDE BAGS OF THE OTHER VEHICLE DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WE WERE IN DID NOT. IT WAS UNPROVABLE BUT THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. WE WERE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL AT TOYOTA OF NORTH MIAMI (16600 NW 2ND AVE, MIAMI, FL 33169, (305) 974-1103). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

TAKATA RECALL: WE WERE NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL FOR THE AIR BAG ON OUR 2011 4RUNNER OVER A YEAR AGO. WE HAVE INQUIRED AND OPENED AN ISSUE FOR IT WITH THE DEALERSHIP, BUT ARE BEING TOLD THAT THE PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. WE ARE VERY FRUSTRATED, AS THIS IS THE PRIMARY VEHICLE WE USE WHEN COMMUTING AND GOING ON TRIPS, BUT CANNOT DO SO. WE WERE OFFERED A RENTAL, BUT I AM CONCERNED WITH LEAVING OUR VEHICLE ON THE DEALERSHIP LOT. WE RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL YESTERDAY, STATING THAT THE COMPANY WHO MAKES THE AIR BAGS, TAKATA, HAS FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY IN THE US. WE ARE STUCK N A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE NOW AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. WE HAVE HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, JUST TO GET LOANER VEHICLES FOR A FEW DAY TRIPS WE HAVE DONE. THIS HAS BECOME A HUGE INCONVENIENCE AND WE WANT THE ISSUE RESOLVED.

TAKATA RECALL I HAVE OWNED MY VEHICLE SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 2011 AND BEEN TAKING IT TO ALLEN TOYOTA IN GULFPORT, MS FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. LAST WEEK, AT THE 120,000 MILE OIL CHANGE THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS. I CALLED TOYOTA HQ AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL WAS ISSUED IN MAY 2016. I ASKED WHY I HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED PREVIOUSLY, SINCE . (I HAVE NOT CHANGED ADDRESSES). JADE, THE TOYOTA REP SAID THAT THE DEALERSHIP PROBABLY DID NOT INFORM ME BECAUSE THEY MAY NOT HAVE HAD A REPLACEMENT PART. SHE ALSO SO THAT IT WAS THE NHTSA'S RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM ME OF THE RECALL. I FIND THE FORMER REASON A POOR EXCUSE SINCE IT RESULTED IN ME AND MY FAMILY DRIVING IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE FOR OVER A YEAR. NONE OF THE DEALERS PROVIDED A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD FOLLOW UP WITHIN 48 HOURS CONCERNING A LOANER VEHICLE, BUT NEVER DID. THE CONTACT HAD BEEN WAITING FOR A REPAIR FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TOYOTA TAKATA RECALL AND SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY: 2011 TOYOTA 4RUNNER HORN STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THIS VEHICLE, ACCORDING TO NHTSA, IS AFFECTED BY THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. ON SEPT 2, 2017, TOYOTA DEALER DIAGNOSED SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY AS CAUSE OF HORN FAILURE. GIVEN THE FAULTY SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY AS THE CAUSE OF THE HORN FAILURE AND THE APPARENT CAUSE OF THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION, THIS FAULTY PART RAISES TWO SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES: NO HORN, POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE AIRBAG. FOLLOWING THE DEALER SERVICE, WE FILED A CONCERN WITH TOYOTA ON SEPT 5, 2017. TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE INSISTED ON SEPT. 12, 2017 THAT THE VEHICLE IS SAFE. WE DO NOT BELIEVE THE VEHICLE IS SAFE. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION.

A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAGS IN MY 2011 TOYOTA 4RUNNER AND I WAS ADVISED IN THE NOTIFICATION THAT NO PASSENGERS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO TRAVEL SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF MY VEHICLE. I SHARED THIS INFORMATION WITH MY SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AND THEY WILL NOT ALLOW MY GRANDCHILDREN TO RIDE IN MY VEHICLE DUE TO THE REPORTS THAT UPON DEPLOYMENT THE AIRBAGS CAUSE METAL FRAGMENTS TO DISPERSE CAUSING INJURY TO INCLUDE FATALITIES FROM THE PROJECTILES EMITTED FROM THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE TAKATA AIRBAGS. TAKATA RECALL. IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN A YEAR SINCE I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA THAT NOTIFIED ME MY TOYOTA 4RUNNER IS AFFECTED BY THE AIRBAG RECALL. I JUST CALLED THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT TOYOTA HAS NOT RELEASE ANY INSTRUCTIONS OR PARTS TO REMEDY THE AIRBAG IN MY VEHICLE.

I USE MY CAR FREQUENTLY TO TRANSPORT OTHER PEOPLE INCLUDING MY ELDERLY MOTHER WHO I TRANSPORT TO GROCERY STORE, DR APPOINTMENTS, CHURCH, ETC. SHE SOMETIMES GETS CAR SICK IN THE BACK SEAT SO I HAVE TO MAKE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS FOR HER TO BE TRANSPORTED. ON A RECENT TRIP FROM THE HOSPITAL, I HAD TO LET HER SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT BECAUSE SHE WAS NAUSEATED AND COULDN'T SIT IN THE BACK SEAT. I THINK THAT I HAVE BEEN MORE THAN PATIENT AND IT'S TIME FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. OVER A YEAR IS A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF TIME TO TAKE FOR THE REPAIR.
