The vehicles whole dash and lower part of dash has cracked everywhere. It’s gotten a sticky film on it which makes a glare on my windshield. Makes it difficult to see. If you are driving towards the sun it makes it very dangerous when you can’t see ahead of you.
Dashboard sticky, cracking. Also extreme glare off dash causing sight distraction. Part of a recall and toyota would not assist

DASHBOARD CRACKING IN TWO PLACES. OUR 2006 DASHBOARD IS CRACKING IN TWO PLACES, AREA BY DRIVERS DOOR AND IN THE PLACE WHERE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS LOCATED. OUR 2008 DID THE SAME THING AND TOYOTA REPLACED THE WHOLE DSAH BUT OUR 2006 IS TOO OLD TO BE COVERED. WE'RE CONCERNED THAT ONCE THE CRACK GOES ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE COMPARTMNT WHERE THE SIR BAG IS THAT IT WILL BUST OPEN HIT THE PASSENGER IN THE FACE.
TOYOTA COMPANY REFUSE TO HONOR MY COMPLAINT THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY LETTERS REGARDING A RECALL ON MY 2006 TOYOTA AVALON. TOYOTA COMPANY STATES THAT THE RECALL ON MY 2006 AVALON HAS EXPIRED. TOYOTA COMPANY STATED THEY MAIL OUT A RECALL LETTER TO MY ADDRESS IN 2015 AND 2017. I DID NOT RECEIVE THE LETTER AT MY ADDRESS. I LIVE IN A MOBILE HOME PARK WHERE ITS ABOUT 30 MOBILE HOMES IS LOCATED WITH THE ADDRESS, EXCEPT THE LOT NUMBER IS DIFFERENT. I SEARCH THROUGH MY MAIL TO DOUBLE CHECK AND I DO NOT HAVE ANY LETTERS REGARDING A RECALL. I CALLED LAST YEAR (2018) BECAUSE I NOTICE SEVERAL SPLITTING LINE ACROSS THE DASH BOARD OF MY CAR DASHBOARD AND IT HAS A STICKY FEELING BY TOUCHING. I HAVE READ SEVERAL EMAILS STATING "ACCORDINGLY, PER WEBSITES ON RECALL THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT ON GETTING A RECALL FIXED, AND MOST DEALERS SHOULD HONOR THE RECALL AND FIX YOUR CAR FREE OF CHARGE. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS IF YOUR VEHICLE IS OLDER THAN TEN YEARS AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL, THE DEALER MAY NOT FIX THE VEHICLE FOR FREE. REGARDLESS, YOU SHOULD STILL MAKE THE NECESSARY CHANGES OR CONTACT THE AUTOMAKER DIRECTLY AND LET THEM KNOW OF YOUR PREDICAMENT". MY PREDICAMENT IS I DO NOT WANT ANYTHING TO HAPPEN AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THE COST TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD. ALL I WANT IS FOR THEM TO REALIZE THAT MY DEFECT FOR THE RECALL DID NOT SHOW UNTIL LAST YEAR. I GET MY CAR SERVICE EVERY YEAR AND THERE WAS NO VISIBLE DEFECT ON THE DASHBOARD.
DASHBOARD IS "MELTING", STICKY AND SHINING, WHICH CAUSES PROBLEMS WITH VISIBILITY THROUGH WINDSHIELD. (SAFETY CONCERNS) I AM ALSO CONCERNED WITH TOXIC GASSES PRODUCED FROM THE BREAKDOWN OF THE MATERIALS IN THE CAR. CONTACTED TOYOTA ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY NO LONGER REPLACE THE DASHBOARD FREE OF CHARGE. WILL BE CHARGED APPROXIMATELY $2,000 FOR REPLACEMENT. THIS CAR HAS BEEN KEPT IN A GARAGE MOST OF THE TIME, NOT IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT.
DASH BOARD IS CRACKING
ELECTRIC REAR WINDOW SUN SCREEN IS STUCK IN THE UP POSITION. THIS REDUCES VISIBILITY ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. WHEN VEHICLE IS PLACE INTO REVERSE THE MOTOR TRIES TO LOWER THE SHADE BUT FAILS. I HAVE SEEN MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE EDMUNDS FORUM. SINCE THE AVERAGE AVALON OWNER IS 65 YEARS OF AGE THE REDUCED VISIBILITY AT NIGHT IS GREATER RISK DUE TO THE REDUCED NIGHT VISION BASED ON THE OWNERS AGE.

TAKATA RECALL I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND MADE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE DRIVERS SEAT SHIFTING WHEN I'M DRIVING AND MASH ON THE BRAKES. I THOUGHT THE SEAT NEEDED TIGHTENING THE TOYOTA DEALER CHECKED THE SEAT AND INFORMED ME THAT THE FRAME WAS DETERIORATING.

THE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME VERY SHINY, STICKY, AND CRACKED DUE TO HIGH HEAT AND HUMIDITY LIVING IN THE SOUTHEAST US. WHEN THE SUN HITS THE DASHBOARD, IT CREATES A REFLECTION THAT BLOCKS THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. THAT IS MY CONCERN FOR SAFETY. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND MILLIONS OF OTHER OWNERS ARE AFFECTED BY THIS SAME ISSUE. TOYOTA NEEDS TO STICK BY THEIR CLAIM TO CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AND REMEDY THIS ISSUE.
MY CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN KEPT IN THE GARAGE, EXCEPT FOR BEING AT WORK. I HAVE CRACKS ALL OVER THE PASSENGERS SIDE AIRBAGS. I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL GETTING A LUNG TRANSPLANT WHEN THE EXTENDED SERVICE LETTER CAME OUT OFFERING TO REPLACE IT. I DIDN'T DRIVE FOR TWO YEARS BECAUSE OF ILLNESS. WHEN I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER HE SAID I MISSED THE DEADLINE BY A WEEK. HE SAID HE HAD THE PARTS AND WOULD LIKE TO DO IT BUT WOULD NEED AN OK FROM TOYOTA CORPORATE . I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. IF THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS I WOULD LIKE TO JOIN'..I DID NOTHING TO CAUSE THIS, IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND A SAFETY HAZARD. I F THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY, IT COULD KILL SOMEONE

ANOTHER DRIVER LOST CONTROL WHILE DRIVING WEST ON ICY ROADS AND HIT ME, I WAS DRIVING EAST ON NE LOMBARD..IN RESULTS OF MY TOYOTA AVALON BEING DEAMED TOTALED. DEALERSHIP IS OUT OF BUSINESS AND OWES THE BANK $454.10 FOR WARRANTY REFUND.

CRACKS IN THE DASH BOARD THAT KEEP GETTING BIGGER . UP TO ONE YEAR TO REPLACE. UN SAFE TO WAIT THAT LONG
WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, I HEARD A TREMENDOUS, SHARP NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. I THOUGHT THE CAR HAD BEEN HIT WITH A ROCK OR HARD BALL, BUT NOBODY IN THE CARS AROUND ME SEEMED TO HAVE ANY CONCERN OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF SOMETHING HAVING HIT MY CAR. UPON PULLING OVER AND OPENING THE TRUNK, I REALIZED THE TRUNK HAD NO COUNTERBALANCE AND WOULD NOT POP OPEN OR STAY OPENED ONCE MANUALLY LIFTED, CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH THE TRUNK, WITHOUT BEING HELD OPEN, WILL SLAM SHUT WITH TREMENDOUS FORCE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO TWO SEPARATE SHOPS AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE TORSION BAR RIPPED THROUGH/OUT OF THE BRACKETS HOLDING IT ONTO THE TRUNK STRUCTURE. THE REPAIRS WILL REQUIRE WELDING INSIDE THE TRUNK--A VERY EXPENSIVE AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS REPAIR. THE BRACKETS WILL NEED TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED. BOTH SHOPS EXPRESSED THAT THIS APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN A DESIGN FLAW AND THAT IT REALLY SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF THE TRUNK HAD BEEN PROPERLY DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED WITH SUFFICIENTLY STRONG PARTS.

2006 TOYOTA AVALON. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE REMOTE STARTING DEVICE. SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HER PARENTS PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE BACK IN 2006. THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH A KEYLESS REMOTE STARTING SYSTEM. ALL IT TOOK, WAS TO HAVE THE DEVICE IN ONES POCKET AND HER FATHER COULD GET IN THE VEHICLE, PRESS A BUTTON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD START UP. WHEN HER FATHER ARRIVED AT HIS DESTINATION, ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, PRESS THE REMOTE BUTTON AND THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF. ON JUNE 28, 2012, WHEN THE CONSUMERS FATHER RETURNED HOME, HE PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE AND WENT IN THE HOUSE. HOURS LATER, THE CONSUMERS FATHER WAS FOUND DECEASED IN THE HOUSE FROM CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THE SMELL OF THE POISONOUS GAS WAS OVERWHELMING THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE BECAUSE AFTER HER DAD TOOK HIS PACKAGES OUT OF THE CAR AND INTO THE HOUSE, HE CLOSED THE GARAGE, AND NEVER SHUT OFF THE REMOTE STARTER BUTTON. FROM MORNING ALL THROUGH THE DAY, CARBON MONOXIDE SLOWLY SEEPED IN THE KITCHEN WHERE THE GARAGE WAS ATTACHED, THROUGH THE KITCHEN AND INTO THE DEN WHERE HER DAD WAS SITTING. THE CONSUMER STATED HAD THERE BEEN AN AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF SYSTEM THAT ACTIVATED AFTER A PRESET TIME, WHEN THERE WAS NO WEIGHT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT, MUCH LIKE THE AIR BAGS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, THIS SENSELESS TRAGEDY WOULD HAVE NEVER OCCURRED. *JB
TWICE SINCE WE PURCHASED THIS CAR, THE TORSION ROD HOLDERS WHICH HOLD THE TRUNK LID OPEN HAVE FAILED, CAUSING THE LID TO CRASH DOWN ABRUPTLY. THE FIRST TIME OCCURRED AT ABOUT THE DATE SHOWN ABOVE. THE PROBLEM WAS REPAIRED. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED ON APRIL 4, 2011(46,000 MILES) SHORTLY AFTER MY WIFE LIFTED THE LID TO REMOVE SOME GROCERIES. SHE NARROWLY ESCAPED SERIOUS INJURY WHEN IT SLAMMED DOWN. SHE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THERE MUST BE A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN WHICH HAS CAUSED THIS TO OCCUR TWICE. TOYOTA SHOULD BE FORCED TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM WHICH I'M SURE IS NOT JUST LIMITED TO MY VEHICLE.

RECALL AND ELECTRICAL REPAIRS WERE DONE.: PARTS REPAIRED AND REPLACD ARE AS FOLLOWED. IGNITION COIL "B" PRIMARY/SECONDARY CIRCUIT MODIFY ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND FLOOR SURFACE REPLACE OIL COOLER HOSE REPLACE VVTI HOSE AND KIT OIL HOSE NO. 1

I WAS COASTING INTO A PARKING STALL IN MY 2006 TOYOTA AVALON WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT ROARED VERY LOUD AND SPED FORWARD INTO THE PARKING SIGN THAT FORTUNATELY STOPPED THE CAR. DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER OF THE CAR. NO INJURIES OCCURRED. I HADAN APPPOINTMENT WITH THE TOYOTA DEALER FOR REPAIRS TO BE DONE FOR THE RECALL ITEMS THAT SAME DAY EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA AS OF THAT DATE. THE CAR DAMAGES WAS REPAIRED AT A BODY SHOP AND THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALSHIP FOR REPAIR OF THE RECALL ITEMS. A LETTER FROM TOYOTA WAS FINALLY RECEIVED ABOUT THE RECALL AFTER THE FACT.

SUDDEN ACCELERATION. WHEN FIRST STARTING THE ENGINE, IT REVVED UP TO ABOUT 2,500 RPMS. A SECOND EPISODE OCCURRED A FEW DAYS LATER WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWNHILL AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 40 MPH. AT NO TIME WAS MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN EITHER SITUATION. IN BOTH OF THESE INSTANCES, THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION RESOLVED WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. THESE INCIDENTS OCCURRED AFTER SAFETY RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED BY TOYOTA ON MARCH 6, 2010. AT THIS TIME, THESE ARE THE ONLY OCCASIONS WHERE I EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS OF THIS NATURE. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS AND MYSELF. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF REPORTING THESE PROBLEMS TO THE DEALERSHIP.

2006 ABALONE WITH 63,000 MILES, WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY MY AC LIGHT FLICKERED, THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I OPENED THE HOOD THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE AND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE WAS COVERED WITH ENGINE OIL. THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE VVT OIL LINE. TOYOTA ISSUED A TECH TIP TV12310 IN SEPTEMBEROF 2008 RECOMMENDING REPLACEMENT OF THE OIL LINE,BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON IT . I HAVE NO IDEA IF MY ENGINE SURVIVED THIS INCIDENT IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP WAITING FOR ESTIMATE . *TR

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY IN MY 2006 TOYOTA AVALON LIMITED, I REACHED DOWN ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD TO ACTIVATE A SHADE SCREEN FOR THE BACK WINDOW IN ORDER TO DEFRAY GLARE FROM HEADLIGHTS AND I PRESSED THE TRUNK BUTTON BY MISTAKE. (WHICH IS LOCATED VERY NEAR BY) THE TRUNK OPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING CAUSED ME TO DIVERT MY ATTENTION FROM THE ROAD MOMENTARILY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A DANGEROUS FEATURE, ALLOWING THE TRUNK TO BE OPENED BY ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A SWITCH IN THE GLOVE BOX THAT WILL LOCK OUT THE TRUNK BUTTON. THE PROBLEM WITH THAT IS, WE HAVE A SMART KEY SYSTEM AND THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN THE TRUNK FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR WHEN THAT BY-PASS SWITCH IS USED. *JB
