PULLING INTO A DISABLED RETAIL PARKING SPACE AT VERY LOW SPEED, CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND HIT THE METAL PARKING POLE, DAMAGING THE FRONT BUMPER AND HOOD. EYEWITNESS TO COLLISION INCIDENT CONFIRMS THIS. CAR WAS BARELY IN MOTION AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. I RECEIVED WHIPLASH REQUIRING MEDICAL ATTENTION AND INJURY TO MY RIGHT KNEE. AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR COMPANY STATES IMPACT WAS SO SEVERE THAT FRAME WAS BENT, RESULTING IN THE INSURANCE COMPANY DECLARING VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED EVEN THOUGH THE BUMPER DAMAGE OCCURRED RIGHT AT THE AIR BAG LOCATION ON DRIVER SIDE. TOYOTA SOLARA AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE SUDDEN LURCH FORWARD SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED SINCE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AT THE TIME AND BARELY MOVING. PICTURES AVAILABLE. OVER THE YEARS, ONE HALF OF THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME VERY NOTICEABLY CRACKED AND DAMAGED AND NOW THE COVERING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOWS IS PEELING OFF THE DOORS. THE REST OF THE INTERIOR LOOKS PRISTINE. THE DASHBOARD CRACKED IN MY PREVIOUS CAMRY TOO BUT NOT TO THIS DEGREE; TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, TOYOTA PAID ME $1000 LESS THAT I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN FOR THE TURN-IN PRICE BECAUSE OF THE DASHBOARD OF THE OLD CAMRY CAR WHEN I SOLD IT BACK TO THEM WHEN I BOUGHT MY CURRENT SOLARA IN 2004. MY HUSBAND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND HE TOLD MY HUSBAND NOT TO WASTE HIS TIME CAUSE OTHER PEOPLE HAD GONE IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY WERE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT'S CAUSED BY THE SUN. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, I SEE THAT MANY TOYOTA SOLARA, SIENNA AND AVALON OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING OF SAME PROBLEM WITH CRACKS IN DASHBOARD. IT SEEMS TO BE MAINLY THE 2004 MODELS, BUT SAME COMPLAINT WITH 2005, 2006, 2007 MODELS. NEXT I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA AND THEIR ANSWER WAS "THERE IS NO RECALL AND NO ASSISTANCE ON THE REPAIR WILL BE GIVEN AT THIS TIME". I'VE TRIED REPORT THIS PROBLEM WITHIN THE LAST PAST 2 YEARS TO THE TOYOTA DEALER W/ NO HELP. THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME FOR DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. I FEEL THIS IS THE DEALERS RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE THE PASSENGER DOOR OR TRUNK DOES NOT HAVE A KEY LATCH ON OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR OR TRUNK . I HAVE A DAUGHTER WHO HAS TO RIDE IN THE BACK SEAT FOR SAFETY PURPOSES; I FEEL THAT IN CASE OF ACCIDENT OR EMERGENCY SHE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF / OR SOMEONE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN DOOR FROM OUTSIDE OR SHE CANNOT GET OUT OF CAR FROM INSIDE. THERE IS NO KEY LATCH TO ENTER CAR FROM OUTSIDE OF CAR ON PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OR TO OPEN TRUNK. KEY REMOTE DOES NOT WORK , I'VE TAKEN CAR TO TOYOTA DEALER AND REPLACED BATTERY, BUT STILL WILL NOT OPEN CAR DOOR OR TRUNK. THE DESIGN ( ANGLE ) OF THE WINDSHIELD CREATES SEVERE VISIBILITY PROBLEMS WHEN DRIVING INTO THE SUN. THE GLARE OFF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IS BLINDING EVEN WITH THE SUNSHADE DOWN. USING SUNGLASSES HELPS BUT DOES NOT ELEVATE THE PROBLEM AT ALL. I HAVE TRIED ADJUSTING SEAT TO CHANGE VIEWING ANGLE BUT WONT HELP. THIS IS A PROBLEM I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE DRIVEN. THIS CONCERNS ME VERY MUCH AND MAKES ME HESITANT TO DRIVE THE CAR IN THE MORNINGS. THE CONSUMER IS UNSATISFIED WITH THE BUMPERS INABILITY TO ABSORB A CERTAIN LEVEL OF ABUSE WITHOUT SUSTAINING DAMAGE. *NM THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE THE STATUS OF THE SOFTWARE UPDATE TO CORRECT THE HESITATION OF THE CAR TO REACT IMMEDIATELY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE INABILITY OF THE CAR TO ACCELERATE IN A TIMELY MANNER IS DISCONCERTING TO THE CONSUMER ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING IN HEAVY, FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. A NAUSEATING ROTTEN EGG ODOR COULD BE SMELLED INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. *NM

CONVERTIBLE ROOF IS DEFECTIVE, WIND NOISE IS TERRIBLE, WIND GETS UNDER CAR ROOF ON HIGHWAY AND CAUSES CAR TO MOVE AS THOUGH IT IS HYDROPLANNING (EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT). *AK ALSO- REAR HEADRESTS BLOCK SO MUCH OF THE BACK WINDOW THAT THERE IS NO WAY (EVEN WITH MIRRORS) TO SEE AROUND BLIND SPOTS

VEHICLE DRIFTED AND PULLED TO THE LEFT. PH THE DEALERSHIP TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DRIFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE HAD SEVERAL FRONT END ALIGNMENTS AND ADJUSTMENTS. AN ENGINEER WAS SENT TO TEST DRIVE THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE AND THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS DESIGNED TO PULL TO THE LEFT DUE TO THE ROAD CROWN. *JB
