THE DRIVERS SIDE SHOULDER HARNESS HAS FROZE IN THE LOCKED POSITION. TRIED TO REPAIR AND FOUND OUT NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO REPAIR AND NO PARTS AVAILABLE. I RECEIVED A TICKET AND ELECTED TO MANUALLY SLIP IT OVER MY EACH TIME.. THIS REALLY SUCKS BECAUSE IT IS A LOW MILE WELL CARED FOR CAR. TOYOTA SHOULD HELP....GOOD LUCK WITH THAT..............

AUTOMATIC SEAT BELTS ON 1991 TOYOTA CAMRY ARE FAULTY. THEY DON'T RETRACT WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED OR CLOSED. THEY FAIL TO OPERATE PROPERLY. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELTS FAILS TO RETRACT AND MAKES NOISE. THE SEAT BELTS WARNING INDICATOR FLASHES ON THE BOARD. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE HENCE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS FOR RECALL ON MY 1991 TOYOTA CAMRY. *NM

DRIVER'S SIDE SHOULDER RESTRAINT FAILS TO MOVE INTO SAFE POSITION WHEN CAR IS STARTED. FRED ANDERSON TOYOTA OF RALEIGH WAS CONTACTED. THEY REQUESTED IT BE BROUGHT, IN SHOWING NO INTEREST IN THE SAFETY HAZARD OF DRIVING WITH AN INOPERABLE SEATBELT. I HAD AN INDEPENDENT TOYOTA TECHNICIAN LOOK AT TO NO AVAIL. I NEXT SEARCHED THE NHTSA WEB SITE AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER CARS SIMILAR TO MINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO GET HELP. THEY ASSURED ME THIS WAS IMPORTANT TO THEM. I FINALLY GOT THE CAR TO FRED ANDERSON. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A WORN DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. I ORDERED THE PART FOR ~$159. WHEN THE PART CAME IN, I ARRANGED AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT FIXED. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AND THEY WERE UNABLE/UNWILING TO FIX IT AS SCHEDULED. SO, I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT SHOP. NORTH CAROLINA HAS MANDATORY AUTO SAFETY INSPECTIONS. THIS CAR WAS DUE FOR AN INSPECTION IN JULY AND WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY FAILED WITHOUT A WORKING SEATBELT. THE TOTAL COST TO DIAGNOSE/FIX THIS PROBLEM : ~$370.*AK

SHOULDER BELT TIGHTENED IN A PANIC STOP AND DID NOT HOLD. THE BELT MADE A GRINDING NOISE, AND THEN RELEASED INSTEAD OF TIGHTENING. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE WHAT HAPPENED, BUT THEY WILL REPLACE THE BELT AND PAY FOR COST OF BELT, OWNER WILL PAY FOR LABOR. *AK *ML

AUTOMATIC SHOULDER BELT FAILS TO ACIVATE APPROX. 50% OF THE TIME. AT TIMES IT WILL ACTIVATE AFTER THE DRIVER SITS DOWN AND BEFORE IT IS SLIPPED OVER THE HEAD WITH SOME FORCE AND HAS SRIPPED GLASSES OF DRIVER'S FACE.
