EXPERIENCED TWO TIMES WITH UNWANTED SUDDEN ACCELERATION WITH TOYOTA CAMRY '94(MADE IN US MODEL) IN MAY 2011: WHILE DRIVING 30MPH, ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS UP LIKE CRAZY (6000-7000RPM) AND WHILE APPLYING BRAKE ON IT WHICH DIDN'T SEEM TO RESPONSE AND I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKE VERY HARD TO MAKE THE CAR STOP AND HAD TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE. *TR

3 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING MY NEW 1994 CAMRY (V6 SEDAN), THE ENGINE HAS COMPLETELY DIED WHILE DRIVING. ALL POWER LOST TO ENGINE, POWER STEERING, AND POWER BRAKES. HAPPENED WHEN BRAND NEW. BROUGHT IT BACK TO SHOP AND THEY SAID IT'S THE TYPE OF "COMPUTER GLITCH" THAT'S TO BE EXPECTED ON SUCH A COMPLEX COMPUTER SYSTEM. HAS HAPPENED TWICE MORE SINCE THEN. WHEN I PULL OVER TO RESTART THE ENGINE, EVERYTHING IS FINE. SCARY AS HELL WHEN IT HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING. HAS ONLY HAPPENED 3 TIMES, FORTUNATELY. *TR

1994 TOYOTA CAMRY, UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION ON I-540 NORHT WEST ARKANSAS ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON, HIT BRAKES AND CAR SPED UP. PUT IN NEURTAL AND TURNED ENGINE OFF. LATER THE SWITCH ON THE BRAKE/TAIL LIGHT / CRUISE DISCONNECT WAS REPLACED. I HAVE HAD NO OTHER INCIDENT SINCE. HOPE THIS MAY HELP.

JUST READ ABOUT THE RECALL ON THE HONDA'S THAT LET THE IGNITION KEY BE REMOVED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK. I HAVE A 1994 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE WHICH HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. AT LEAST 3-4 TIMES PER MONTH I PARK THE CAR AND REMOVE THE KEY. WHEN I RETURN AND THE CAR WON'T START, I NOTICE THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE OR REVERSE WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED. HAVE TAKEN IT TO MAITA TOYOTA ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS BUT UNABLE TO DUPLICATE. DEALER FAILED TO ENTER ORIGINAL INCIDENT (OCCURED APPRX 3-5 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE PRIOR TO WARRANTY END) IN THEIR SYSTEM. HAD THEM CHECK IT AT 15K CHECKUP.

REVERSE LIGHT WIRING SEPARATES. THIS CAUSES THE REVERSE LIGHTS NOT TO GO ON WHEN BACKING UP. THIS PROBLEM WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE ON 6/19/97 AND THIS HAS BEEN CONSISTENT EVER SINCE. OWNER QUESTIONS IF THE DEALER KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
