The dashboard is melting causing a glare in the windshield.
Whenever I start my car I can see a red triangle symbol I think it’s SRS warning light. Then I check my owner’s manual then I find out that it’s SRS warning lights. I don’t know what to do. Please let me know what should I do?
The Dash is melting causing a glare on the windshield which blocks my vision and is very dangerous.
My dash board is sticky and uncleanable, making it very hard to see out the windshield at all hours day or night, which could potentially cause a crash. I have also noticed tons of people online with the same problem. This needs to be recalled or class action lawsuit.
I'm in love with Toyota. In Brazil I always had cars of this brand, but newer in manufacture. I recently purchased a 2007 Toyota Camry from a third party and at the time of purchase I did not realize the size of the problem. The car as always is excellent. But to my surprise your panel is simply melting. Just tap it and it dissolves in your hand. As it is sticky and sticky in the hot sun, its reflection almost completely covers the front windshield. I need to drive with dark glasses to get visibility. When researching the subject, I realized that this problem is widespread. That all Camry's have this defect. Imagine the danger of those countless drivers driving in poor visibility. It really is a disappointment with Toyota, and I hope they have a solution not only for me, but for everyone, as I consider this a matter of public safety.
The power strip on drivers door to roll up and roll down windows, lock and unlock car is broken. I know there was a recall but I never got that replaced. Toyota of Poway said it’s fine then it broke a year later.
In June 9, 2016 (NHTSA ID Number: 10111320) Toyota did a Warranty Enhancement Program to extend the warranty coverage for repairs related to cracked and/or sticky/melting Dashboards (Instrument Panels) as a result of heat or humidity. My 2009 Toyota Camry was taken to a Toyota dealership in September of 2016 and the malfunctioning dashboard was replaced. However, the dashboard is still melting. It was replaced with the same defective material.
I bought my 2007 Toyota Camry in May 2020 with approx. 77,000 mi. On or about 98,775 mi. all of a sudden my car started burning an extremely amount of oil. I would get my oil changed every 6 mo. like clockwork and after oil change just driving between every 900 & 1,200 mi. I am having to add nearly a full quart of oil, thank God I am the type person that checks my fluids periodically or I would have blown my engine! What is the point in me paying nearly $100. an oil change if I have to continuously be buying quarts of oil to be putting in my car every 1,000. miles? Someone told me that 2007 Camrys burn oil due to some kind of issue and that there was a recall around 2015, that all I need to do is take my car to dealership and that they mark something with a red marker or something to this effect and after driving 1,000. mi. that I take the car back to dealership & they check it again, if my car burns slot of o than they suppose to fix the problem! Well, I am tired of paying extreme amounts of money every 6 mo. for oil change and still have to be spending more money for more oil to have to be checking & adding more oil or I will eventually blow my entire engine if I don't! I took my vehicle to Toyota , & they said that the recall has been over yrs. ago? Well, I would imagine that this would be a life or death matter and therefore this particular recall HAS "NO" Expiration DATE! I need this issue resolved ASAP, I do not have over $2,000. to pay out of pocket Please, someone contact me with answers! I now have 114,000 mi.
The dashboard is melting and shiny causing it to look wet and create a dangerous glare on the windshield. When I look through the windshield I see a reflection of the dashboard. This is apparently a known problem for Toyota and I called to report it but they were unconcerned and will not repair.

Interior structure problem re: dashboard. My 2007 Toyota Camry LE sedan has just over 40K. This is a one-owner 4 door sedan. I bought this as "new" at Venice Toyota in FL on 3/29/07. I moved back to RI in 8/2007. About 2018, while cleaning the inside, I noticed that the dashboard seemed sticky. I had a dog and couldn't get the dashboard clean. I've tried several times to clean it (including some gel that's supposed to work) but everything sticks to it. I just found out where I can report it or I would have done this sooner. I had looked up my auto when I was checking for any outstanding recalls. I've had 2 minor recalls fixed. Reading further, others had the same problem, had contacted dealers about a recall which supposedly had gone out but it didn't. Toyota won't acknowledge the problem nor will the dealers. I am faithful about maintenance but the dashboard is disgusting. I also noticed that others have the same complaint and some are from South Florida as mine is. When is Toyota going to address this problem? It's not just 2007 Camrys - it's many models and years. There must be something they can do - it's their problem and they need to address it. Thank you.
Vehicle was detailed at Toyota of San Diego. The dash board became very sticky/gummy when exposed to sun. This causes a problem when driving because the sticky imagine from the dash board shines on the window and distorts your view. Toyota of San Diego sold to Norm Reeves of San Diego. The service department mentioned Toyota knew about the problem but the time has expired to replace the dash. My mom did not receive any notification from Toyota. The car has 20,000 miles and is occasionally driven. My mom is 97 and I have just started to drive her car. Viewing out the front window is hazardous.
I sent a complaint about my dashboard melting, over two years ago and complained to the dealer ship with no help, they told me my warranty expired a week before the recall. They said it would cost me right at $ 1100.00 to repair, I told them that's not fair for me to pay for there mistake I can't afford that, the way the economy is going. I beg for help before and no one listen, so lam pleasing again. God I hope someone hear me this time.
The front dash assembly is melted over time and is so bad I cannot see out the front windshield. I told the dealership that I believe this was a recall and they said it was but that the specific job for that expired ? I didn’t know recalls expired. They are willing to fix the current situation with the current system failure of the over heating window switches but a major problem is the visibility up front. I have to wear sun glasses just to see through that horrible glare from the melted dashboard. Also not sure if their is any suspension issues with my 2007 Toyota Camry. The steering wheel shakes some and I’ve purchased new tires wheels and some rotation balance and alignment and no additional work or parts where needed to fix that problem. The alignment did reduce some steering wheel shaking but it’s getting worse again. Any help would be appreciated and if we could get the Dealership to fix the front dashboard that would be phenomenal. Thank you.
Was driving an it made a noise then the brake light abs light an vcs light came on at the same time an I see on here where some people have the same problem with the same car so what do I need to do about it
I first noticed a year ago that the dashboard was not looking right, but this year, approximately Mid May, the dashboard has become sticky and when the sun shines there is now a glare in my windshield, making visibility near impossible. It is hard to tell if there is a pedestrian/biker on the sides of the road or another vehicle in front of me. I did not receive any notice of this problem from the manufacturer. A dealer in my area said there is nothing he can do for me; however, he did give me the phone number for the Texas headquarters. I spoke with a gentleman named Cue (sp) who then put a senior supervisor on the phone. They, too, will not do anything..."there was a warrantee extension notice sent out in 2015 which expired in 2017". I did not receive it. They will only refund up to $250 for a dash cover. This should have been a recall, as I am sure that I could not be the only one that was omitted from their mailings.
There was a previous recall on this vehicle for the dash melting and becoming sticky. I learned of this recall after purchasing it and would appreciate it if the recall was still honored. At least if half the expences covered for the manufacturer mistake.

THE AUTO WAS ORIGINALLY KEPT YEAR ROUND IN MINNESOTA. WE HAVE A PLACE IN ALAMO TX 2 YEARS AGO WE DROVE THE CAMRY DOWN TO TEXAS AND FLEW BACK TO MINNESOTA. WE LEFT THE CAR IN A GARAGE. THE FALL OF 2020 IS WHEN WE DISCOVERED WE HAD A STICKY DASH. WE CALLED TOYOTA IN PHARR TX THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS BUT THE TIME HAD EXPIRED FOR US TO GET IT FIXED UNDER THE RECALL ABOUT 2 YEARS AGE. BECAUSE THE CAMRY WAS IN MN FOR THE MAJORITY OF ITS LIFE, THE PROBLEM WASN'T DISCOVERED UNTIL THE FALL OF 2020, 2 YEARS AFTER THE REBATE EXPIRED. ON 10-13-2019 WHILE DRIVING I TURNED A CURVE ON A BUSY ROAD AND WAS COMPLETELY BLINDED BY GLARE AND NARROWLY MISSED HITTING AN ONCOMING CAR. I KEEP A CLEAN CAR AND ALL GLASS SO THIS IS NOT A BUILDUP ON THE GLASS. ON 10-14-2019 I BEGAN ONLINE RESEARCH AND FOUND THERE HAD INDEED BEEN A PROBLEM SO I WENT DIRECTLY TO TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE AND EMAILED THIS PROBLEM AND REQUESTED ASSISTANCE. I THEN SPOKE WITH A CUSTOMER CARE PERSON THAT ADVISED ME THERE WAS A SPECIAL EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM BUT THAT PROGRAM HAD EXPIRED AUGUST 2017 AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. I EXPRESSLY INQUIRED HOW COULD THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN CARS AND OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. THEY SAID THEY WENT TO EACH STATES DMV TO GET ADDRESS OF TOYOTA OWNERS OF AFFECTED CARS AND MAILED THEM. I EXPLAINED I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2016 AND WHAT DO THEY OFFER TO MAKE MY CAR SAFE. I GOT ONLY APOLOGIES. THIS IS EVIDENTLY A KNOWN AND LONG TERM SAFETY PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA CARS AND IS AT A DANGEROUS LEVEL FOR MANY OWNERS OF USED TOYOTA'S WITH NO CORRECTIVE STEPS AVAILABLE.

GLARE IS BECOMING MORE OF A PROBLEM, SPECIFICALLY ON HOT SUNNY DAYS, MELTING DASHBOARD PUT A SMALL GOUGE IN THE DASHBOARD WHEN SOMETHING WAS SET ON IT AND THEN MOVED. DEBRIS AND DUST IS ALSO COLLECTING ON THE DASHBOARD. WILL BECOME MORE HAZARDOUS AS TIME GOES ON. CALLED BOTH TOYOTA AND THE DEALERSHIP. TOYOTA INFORMED ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON RECALL LIST AND TOO WAIT TO SEE IF ANOTHER RECALL WOULD BE ISSUED. DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE OVER $2,000 FOR PART AND LABOR. I HAVE KEPT MY CAR IN THE GARAGE AND DASHBOARD HAS SEEMED A LITTLE SLOWER TO DETERIORATE COMPARED TO OTHERS, BUT NOW THAT IT IS BREAKING DOWN, WILL MOST LIKELY DECLINE QUICKER. A PROBLEM CREATED BY TOYOTA ALSO AFFECTS RESALE AND TRADE IN VALUE OF THE VEHICLE AT NO FAULT OF THE OWNER.

I HAVE TOYOTA CAMRY 2007 AND I LIVE IN NORTH TEXAS. I WANTED TO CLEAN MY DASHBOARD ONCE IN SUMMER AND I SAW THAT IT'S COMING OFF AND IT'S STICKY AND I COULD SEE MY FINGERNAIL PRINTS ON THE DASHBOARD AND EVEN WHILE DRIVING IT EASILY GETS DENTED BY MY NAILS. BUGS AND DUST GET ATTACHED TO IT, AND THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO REMOVE THEM WHICH IS A HEALTH HAZARD. ALSO, ITS REFLECT ON THE WIND SHIELD SPECIALLY IN SUNNY DAYS, WHICH IS ALMOST EVERYDAY IN TEXAS, BLOCKS MY EYE SIGHT AND I HARDLY CAN SEE PASSENGERS OR TRAFFIC SIGNS WHICH IS REALLY DANGEROUS. THE DASHBOARD APEARS TO BE MELTING.BECAUSE THE DASH IS MELTING IT GIVES OFF A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT AFFECT VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. SINCE I DIDN'T REGISTER THE CAR AND ALL OF MY PAPERWORK HAD MY THEN AND STILL ADDRESS ON IT, I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD HONOR THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY SENT IT TO AN ADDRESS THAT WASN'T MINE. THEY WILL NOT GIVE ME THE ADDRESS BUT REFERRED ME TO MY STATE' DMV, WHO ALSO WILL NOT GIVE ME THIS PHANTOM ADDRESS WHERE MY INFO WAS SENT. COLONIAL TOYOTA REGISTERED THE CAR FOR ME SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MISTAKES WERE MADE IN THE REGISTRATION PROCESS AND NO WAY OF GETTING THE INFORMATION. THEY STATED A FEW YEARS AGO THERE WAS A PROGRAM TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARDS AS THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED BUT SINCE MY PROBLEM HAPPENED AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED I WAS OUT OF LUCK. WHY DIDN'T I GET NOTIFIED OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OR THE ISSUE WITH THE DASHBOARD? I HAVE HAD THIS CAR SINCE IT WAS NEW SO THEY HAD ALL OF MY INFORMATION IN THEIR DATABASE AND CONTACTING ME WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY EASY. I WAS GOING TO PASS THIS CAR DOWN TO MY DAUGHTER THAT JUST GOT HER LICENSE, BUT I AM HESITANT TO LET HER DRIVE THE CAR AS THE GLARE MAKES IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN DEVELOPING FOR YEARS AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. WHEN I CALL A TOYOTA DEALER ABOUT 3-4 YEARS AGO TO ASK WHETHER THERE WAS A RECALL OR OTHER SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THEY COULD DO NOTHING. THIS YEAR, THE PROBLEM IS BECOMING SEVERE SINCE THE SHINY DASHBOARD OFTEN BLINDS MY EYES AND I ALMOST HIT A WALKER. I GOOGLED THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND TONS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINS AND SOME LUCKY COSTUMERS GOT FREE REPLACEMENT. SO, I CALLED THE SAME DEALER AGAIN ASKING ABOUT THE POLICY. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL SEVERAL YEARS AGO, BUT IT EXPIRED TWO YEARS AGO, SO THEY COULD DO NOTHING. THIS ANSWER IS RIDICULOUS CONSIDERING I CALLED THEM BEFORE. I THEN CALL THE HEADQUARTER. THE OPERATOR TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT A RECALL, BUT AN EXTENDED 10-YEAR WARRANTEE. SINCE MY CAR HAS BEEN MORE THAN TEN YEARS, TOYOTA WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DASHBOARD UNLESS I HAVE WRITTEN EVIDENCE THAT I CONTACTED TOYOTA BEFORE ABOUT THE DASHBOARD. MY COMPLAINS ARE AS FOLLOWS: (1)THIS DASHBOARD PROBLEM SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE IT CAN CAUSE DANGEROUS ACCIDENTS. AFTER THE CAR ENGINE ODOMETER HIT 70.000 THE CAR STARTED TO BURN OIL MORE THAN NORMAL. I TOOK THE CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE CAR HAD VERY LITTLE OIL. SINCE THEN I HAD TO ADD 3 QUARTS OF OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGE AT 78.000 AND 2 QUARTS OF OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGE AT 83.000 MILES.

TOYOTA HAS MADE BILLIONS FROM SELLING CARS IN AMERICA ALONE AND THEY ALLOWED DEFECTIVE MATERIALS TO USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THEIR CARS AND THAT IS NOT FAIR TO THE CONSUMER. THIS SHOULD BE A TOTAL RECALL IN PLACE OF A SERVICE BULLETIN. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD SHOULD SOMEONE COME IN CONTACT WITH THIS DEFECTIVE MATERIAL IN A CRASH.

I PLAN ON OWNING THIS VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 5 YEARS AND I FEAR THE DASHBOARD WILL BE AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER BY THEN.

WHAT TOXINS ARE BEING RELEASED IN THE CAR INTERIOR FROM THE INTERACTION OF EXTREME HEAT, UV RADIATION, AND THE GLUE-LIKE RESIDUE? WHAT ARE THE SHORT AND LONG TERM HEALTH RISKS FROM INHALING POTENTIALLY TOXIC AIR IN A CONFINED SPACE WHILE DRIVING? SUMMARY BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUES NOTED ABOVE, MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. OF DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THEIR OWN SAFETY HAZARD. SAFETY HAZARDS CAUSED BY TOYOTA'S OWN NEGLIGENCE SHOULD NOT BE THE CUSTOMER'S FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX!

THIS WAS ALREADY AN ISSUE AT TIME I PURCHASED VEHICLE WITH 64,190 MILES. HOWEVER, I WAS NOT INFORMED OF ANY TSB NOR RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATIONS OF PROBLEMS. I HAVE HAD CAR SERVICED APPROXIMATELY EVERY 3,000 MILES WITH MOTORCRAFT OIL. IT WAS NOT UNTIL 8-25-17 WHEN I WAS ASKED TO SIGN A DISCLAIMER LETTING ME KNOW OIL WAS OFF DIPSTICK. WHEN I CHECKED PREVIOUS RECORDS I FOUND OUT THE CAMRY HAD BEEN LOW ON OIL ( OFF STICK) EACH TIME SERVICED. (MY 1997 CAMRY I OWNED PRIOR TO THIS 2007 NEVER USED ANY OIL IN BETWEEN CHANGES AND IT HAD 176,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I LET IT GO). THUS, AFTER THE 8-25-17 SERVICE AND DOING RESEARCH I BECAME AWARE OF TOYOTA'S ISSUES AND THUS BEGAN A FRUITLESS BATTLE WITH TOYOTA. THIS HAS BECOME A NUISANCE NOW BECAUSE IT IS BLINDING ME AS I DRIVE UNLESS I PUT A CLOTH OVER MY DASH AND THEN I HAVE TROUBLE REMOVING IT BECAUSE IT IS LITERALLY GLUED DOWN TO IT AFTER THE FACT. TOOK MY 2007 CAMRY TO AL HENDRICKSON DUE TO AN OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS AN UNDERLYING PROBLEM INVOLVING THE TIMING COVER. THEY REFUSED TO DO THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST UNTIL I PAID $1,500 TO HAVE THE OIL TIMING COVER REPAIRED.
THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HAS BECOME VERY STICKY -- ALMOST APPEARS TO BE MELTING. IT IS EXTREMELY SHINY AND CASTING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE, WHICH CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS.

MELTING/DECOMPOSING DASHBOARD CAR WAS PURCHASE FROM MY SON-IN-LAW/ELDEST DAUGHTER (BOUGHT FROM HIS MOTHER NEW) FOR BY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER. AFTER A MONTH OR TWO AFTER THE PURCHASE, I NOTICED THAT THE INTERIOR WAS PITTING AND WAS ALL MARKED UP AND LITERALLY DECOMPOSING. I WRONGLY BLAMED MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIENDS FOR THIS APPARENT ABUSE UNTIL HEARING ABOUT THIS ISSUE ONLINE. AFTER MY PROPHETIC APOLOGY TO MY DAUGHTER, I ASKED HER TO TAKE IT INTO THE DEALER TO "GET THE BALL ROLLING". I WANTED HER TO LEARN HOW TO DO THIS ON HER OWN. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER AFTER BEING ASSURED THAT THE REPLACEMENT DASH WOULD BE AT THE DEALER, THEY TOLD HER THAT IT WAS THE WRONG COLOR AND WOULD HAVE TO BE RE-ORDERED. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER THIS WHOLE ORDEAL WAS STARTED, THEY EXPLAINED THAT THERE WERE NO DASHES IN THE US WHATSOEVER. I THEN DECIDED TO CALL TOYOTA US DIRECTLY TO EXPLAIN OUR SITUATION. I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING AND THEY VERIFIED THAT THE ACTUAL ORDER DATE WAS MARCH 8TH 2016 (WHAT??) AND THAT THE COMPANY CONTRACTED TO PRODUCE THESE DASHES CURRENTLY HAS A 6-18 MONTH BACKLOG. I THEN ASKED IF THERE HAPPENED TO BE AN AIRBAG ISSUE AND THE DASH WAS DAMAGED WOULD I HAVE TO WAIT TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. THEY SAID NOT LIKELY...SO WHAT THIS TELLS ME IS THAT THE DASHBOARDS ARE OUT THERE "SOMEWHERE" BUT NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR RECALL AND OUT-OF-WARRANTY CAMPAIGN (DIFFERENT BUCKET). I HAVE ALSO LEARNED THAT THIS CAMPAIGN CAN BE TRANSFERRED TO THE NEW OWNER (PROVIDE THEM WITH THE CASE #). I ALSO LEARNED THAT TOYOTA IS NOT THAT HIGH QUALITY, BEGIN ALL- END ALL UBER AUTO MANUFACTURERS THAT ALL OF THE MAGAZINES LEAD US TO BELIEVE THAT IT IS.

THIS HAPPENED AROUND EVERY 5 MINS, RANDOMLY AND LAST FOR 1 MINS SOMETIMES 10 MINS. THE AIR CONDITIONING STOP WORKING DURING THIS TIME. I CHECKED ONLINE AND I SAW MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM, THERE IS NOT RELATE ISSUE WITH THE WAY YOU DRIVE, THE WAY YOU DO ANYTHING IN THE CAR. I USED THE CARD SINCE NEW AND THE MILEAGE CURRENTLY ONLY 103K+, FOR 9 YEARS OLD CAR THIS IS VERY LOW MILEAGE.

TOYOTA RECALL: I TOOK MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL. THEY HAD A 3 PHASE TEST AND IT USED A QUART OF OIL AFTER 1000 MILES, BUT I HAD TO BRING IT IN A THIRD TIME, THEN THEY SAID I FAILED THE TEST AS I WENT OVER THE MILEAGE FOR THE 3RD VISIT. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY LET ME FILE A COMPLAINT BUT ALSO SAID I FAILED TO MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS AS I WENT OVER THE MILEAGE EVEN THOUGH IT HAD ALREADY USED A QUART OF OIL THE AFTER 1000 MILES. I ASKED FOR THE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS AND THEY WERE VAGUE AND STATED THE DEALERSHIP MADE THE DETERMINATION AROUND TOYOTA'S GUIDELINES. I TOOK IT AGAIN FOR THE LAST AND FINAL OIL RECALL AND THEY THEN SAID I WENT OVER THE MILEAGE FOR THE OIL RECALL TEST THE SECOND TIME (1700 MILES) THAT IT WAS A BIT LOW AND THEY TOPPED IT OFF AS A CURTESY, BUT I WAS NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. TODAY AFTER 3000 MILES FROM MY LAST OIL CHANGE AND THEIR TOPPING IT OFF THE OIL WAS DOWN 4 QUARTS OF OIL. I FEEL THAT THAT TOYOTA IS MAKING THIS DIFFICULT SO THAT A CONSUMER FAILS THE RECALL AND THEY DO NOT HAVE TO FIX THE PISTONS ON THE ENGINE.

I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW IN PALM DESERT CALIFORNIA IN 2007. IN NOVEMBER 2013, I MOVED TO PINELLAS PARK FLORIDA AND MY DASHBOARD BECAME VERY STICKY. IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE IN THE LAST YEAR. I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE ACTUAL DASHBOARD. THE DASH BOARD IS MELTING. I WANT TO HAVE IT REPLACED. MY CAR HAS UNDER 45,000 MILES ON IT. IT IS IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION. HOW DO I GO ABOUT MAKING TOYOTA RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DASHBOARD?

THE PRIMARY SAFETY CONCERNS REGARDING MY COMPLAINT ARE A MALFUNCTIONING SPEEDOMETER AND A MALFUNCTIONING ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM; HOWEVER, THERE ARE OTHERS, WHICH I WILL DESCRIBE. WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT COMPLETELY CRAZY. SPECIFICALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO (AS I WAS DRIVING 40MPH) THE TACHOMETER STARTED BOUNCING UP AND DOWN BETWEEN 0 AND 2 OR 3, THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON. THEN, EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL BEFORE I COULD PULL OVER. I SOON REALIZED ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS LIKE THE TEMP GAUGE GOING LIMP AND THE AIR CONDITIONER BLOWING HOT AIR ALONG WITH OTHER THINGS. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED ALL TOGETHER BUT ON AND OFF AT RANDOM INTERVALS. I DID SOME RESEARCH, WHICH LED ME TO THE ABS ISSUE. ACCORDING TO OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THE REPAIR IS $2K-$3K AND MANY HAD STORIES OF DEALERS MAKING VARIOUS COSTLY REPAIRS THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. I WORK FOR MINIMUM WAGE, THIS IS MY ONLY CAR, AND IT IS 110 DEGREES IN MY TOWN. DRIVING WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING HERE IS A SAFETY HAZARD. ONE PERSON SUGGESTED UNPLUGGING THE FAULTY ABS MODULE TO REGAIN AIR CONDITIONING. WHEN I DID THIS THE AIR CONDITIONING DID IN FACT START WORKING ALONG WITH THE TACHOMETER AND TEMP GAUGE. THE SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, AND SEAT BELT ALARM STILL DO NOT WORK. FURTHERMORE, THIS IS NO LONGER INTERMITTENT BUT CONSTANT AND THE BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALL REMAIN ON. AN ABS MALFUNCTION COULD BE DISASTROUS IN WET WEATHER. THE LACK OF A SPEEDOMETER IS A SAFETY PROBLEM ON CITY ROADS FOR OBVIOUS REASONS AND NOT TO FORGET THE SEAT BELT ALARM OR THE ODOMETER, WHICH NO LONGER LOGS THE MILEAGE. MY 2007 CAMRY HAD LOW MILES FOR ITS AGE (<70K) WHEN THESE PROBLEMS FIRST OCCURRED; THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED AND WELL MAINTAINED. I HAVE READ MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM THOSE WITH THE VERY SAME PROBLEMS AND IT SEEMS LIKE A FAULTY PRODUCT IS TO BLAME.

THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS NOT VIABLE FOR ME NOW, AND CANNOT USE THE CAR, GIVEN THE SAFETY ISSUES INVOLVED.

COMPLAIN WHICH I MADE TO TOYOTA VIA CUSTOMER RELATION DEPARTMENT ID: 0907111004 RESOLUTION SOUGHT: CHANGE THE WINDSHIELD ASAP OR TAKE THE CAR BACK, I WOULD RATHER GO TO HONDA. SEEMS LIKE TOYOTA CAR ARE GOOD FOR ROAD WHICH ARE EITHER DRIVEWAY KIND OR TOTALLY CLEAN, NOT ABLE TO HANDLE HIGHWAYS. THIS WAS MY FIRST AND LAST TOYOTA, FOR SURE I WILL COVEY THE MESSAGE TO OTHERS TOO SO THAT PEOPLE THING AGAIN BEFORE BUYING TOYOTA. I TRUSTED TOYOTA NAME AND THOUGH THERE AFTER SALES AND SERVICE WOULD BE GOOD AND PARTS USED WOULD BE GOOD QUALITY BUT GUESS ITS NOT, SHOWS REASON OF WHY PEOPLE MOVING AWAY. *TR

2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH AIR CONDITIONING PROBLEM. CONSUMER STATES THAT THERE IS A STRONG URINE SMELL AFTER THE USE OF THE AIR CONDITIONER. CONSUMER DOESN'T FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *KB THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THERE IS A WIND SOUND WHEN DRVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT SOUNDED AS IF THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN.
THE CAR ACCELERATED QUICKLY ON ITS OWN, WITH ENGINE RACING, AND COULD NOT BE STOPPED EASILY, RESULTING IN A COLLISION WITH A TREE. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE ON IT'S OWN, WITH NO ONE PRESSING THE THROTTLE, UNTIL THE IGNITION WAS SWITCHED OFF. THIS WAS NOT CAUSED BY A LOOSE FLOOR MAT, THE FLOOR MAT WAS SECURED AND NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE PEDAL. IN FEBRUARY I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA SAYING THAT THEY BELIEVE THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I CALLED TOYOTA TO TALK TO THE PERSON WHO SENT THAT LETTER AND REPEATED THE FACTS AS STATED ABOVE AND SHE TOLD ME THAT I "MAY BE MISTAKEN." THE FACT THAT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE AFTER THE CRASH IS IMPORTANT, SINCE SOME MAY THINK THAT I WAS PUSHING THE THROTTLE HERSELF. ONCE I GOT OUT OF THE CAR SHE OBVIOUSLY COULDN'T BE PUSHING THE PETAL HERSELF. THE ENGINE DIDN'T STOP RACING UNTIL I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. THEN, WHEN THE TOW TRUCK CAME, THE DRIVER RE-STARTED THE CAMRY TO POSITION IT FOR TOWING. WHEN HE DID, THE ENGINE RAN NORMALLY. WHEN A CAR TAKES OFF BY ITSELF, IT HAS A PROBLEM. THEREFORE THIS CAR, AND MAYBE ALL 2007 CAMRYS, MAYBE ALL TOYOTAS, HAVE A PROBLEM. HOWEVER WE DROVE THIS CAR FOR MONTHS AND MANY MILES WITHOUT A SYMPTOM; IT APPARENTLY TAKES SOME KIND OF PARTICULAR COMBINATION OF CIRCUMSTANCES FOR THE PROBLEM TO COME OUT. NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THIS INCIDENT, BUT THIS BEHAVIOR COULD CAUSE SOMEONE TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. I BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD FIND OUT WHY THIS HAPPENED AND TRY TO FIX IT, INSTEAD OF TRYING TO CONVINCE ME THAT I AM WRONG WHEN I TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED. *TR UPDATED
AFTER INSTALLING KRACO FLOOR MATS INTO OUR 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY, WE TOOK A ROAD TRIP. ON THE HIGHWAY, I WAS DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON, WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I TRIED ADJUSTING THE CRUISE CONTROL WITH THE CRUISE LEVER, AND WHEN THAT DID NOT WORK, TURNED THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF. I CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE TO OVER 85 MPH (FROM ORIGINAL CRUISING AT APPROX 68 MPH). I TRIED BRAKING, BUT THE BRAKES PROVIDED LITTLE TO NO RESULT. MY TWO PASSENGERS TRIED TO HELP WITH SUGGESTIONS: I TRIED PUSHING THE BRAKE, ACCELERATOR, AND CLUTCH (5-SPEED CAR), AND NONE HELPED. I STARTED JAMMING MY FOOT INTO THE AREA AROUND THE ACCELERATOR, AND FINALLY THERE BEGAN TO BE SOME EFFECT. ONE PASSENGER SUGGESTED THE FLOOR MAT, AND SO I FINALLY DUG MY FEET INTO IT AND PULLED BACK, FINALLY MAKING THE NEEDED IMPACT OF HAVING CONTROL OF THE CAR AGAIN. WE HAVE USED LARGE BINDER CLIPS TO ATTEMPT TO KEEP THE FLOOR MATS FROM INTERFERING WITH THE ACCELERATOR; NOT SURE YET IF THIS IS AN ADEQUATE SOLUTION. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATES AND EXPERIENCES ACCELERATION FAILURE SINCE IT WAS A NEW VEHICLE. THEN, ON JULY 11, 2007, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOST ALL MOTIVE POWER AND WAS DISABLED PARTIALLY BLOCKING A LANE OF TRAFFIC ON AN INTERSTATE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE POLICE ASSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO A SAFE LOCATION. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THE RUBBER FLOORMAT MAY HAVE GOTTEN STUCK UNDERNEATH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND CAUSED THE HESITATION CONCERN. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND A CAUSE FOR THE LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 12,968. THE FAILURE MILEAGE FOR THE HESITATION ISSUE WAS 12,960. *DSY UPDATED 09/10/07 *TR
