I got in an accident with a car who ran a stop sign when I didn't have one. I was going approximately 15-20mph and my entire front end collided with their passenger side. My air bags did not go off at all.
I have repaired all the safety recalls on my 2004 Toyota Corolla S. However, I just had another warning signal for the seatbelt/airbag today. Since this has been a recall previously, can I have the dealer look at the car and repair again? I wouldn't think the airbags/seatbelt warning would come back so fast after being repaired for the recall. Please advise. Thank you.
We received the enclosed NHTSA notice about a vehicle repair that is need for a recall. However we no longer own this vehicle. We sold the vehicle in 2018 or 2019 and transferred the pink slip to the new owner. We have no way to contact him and he is responsible for the vehicle now. So we are just notifying you that we cannot take any action on this.

Hello, In January 3, 2022. I took the vehicle to the Toyota Hamer dealer about one issue of the air bag recall in the Toyota Corolla with the VIN: [XXX] there after around 4:pm on the Sunday the vehicle it was released with unsolved problems by the dealer and now I am requesting that it be properly repaired due to chronic and faulty problems. I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT BUT WHEN I SHOW UP AT TOYOTA THE HAVE NO APPOINTMENT FOR ME. BUT HE CLAIMS IT WILL TAKE A "COUPLE HOURS". OKAY I WILL WAIT. SO HE SIGNS ME UP AND SAYS BE BACK AT 2 PM. AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ON FOLLOWING THE FIRST AIRBAG RECALL SERVICE. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, CLAIMING THEY ONLY REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, AND THAT THE CAUSE OF THE SERVICE LIGHT IS THE SPIRAL CABLE, WHICH IS IN THE STEERING WHEEL. DEALERSHIP MUST HAVE CHECKED THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG IN ORDER TO SEE IF THE INFLATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHICH MUST BE WHAT TRIPPED THE LIGHT.

I RECEIVED AN EMAIL TELLING ME THAT THERE IS A POSSIBLE SAFETY RISK INVOLVING THE AIRBAGS OF MY CAR.
TOOK MY CAR TO HAVE AIRBAG REPLACE TWICE IN SEPTEMBER 2018 AND WAS TOLD ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THEN FEBRUARY 2019 WAS TOLD THEY HAD AIRBAG WENT TWICE WAS TOLD THEY HAD IT WHEN I FIRST WALKED IN AND SAT THERE FOR THREE HOURS FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT AND DIDN'T KNOW WHEN. I ARRIVED AT MY APPOINTMENT AND WAITED FOR ABOUT 4-6 HOURS ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART THAT THEY NEEDED TO FIX MY CAR AND REMEDY THE RECALL ISSUE. THIS WAS AFTER THEY IDENTIFIED ALL KINDS OF OTHER PROBLEMS THAT THEY CLAIMED NEEDED TO BE FIXED. IT WAS INFURIATING THAT THEY WERE NOT UPFRONT ABOUT NOT HAVING THE PART WHEN I INITIALLY ARRIVED. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD GIVE ME A RENTAL CAR BECAUSE OF THE OTHER SERVICES I AGREED TO BUT WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE RENTAL CAR COUNTER, THEY PROCEEDED TO CHARGE ME ALL THESE ADDITIONAL FEES. I CANCELLED THE ENTIRE REQUEST AND TOYOTA NEVER FIXED MY ISSUE. I COMPLAINED AND NEVER RECEIVED ANY KIND OF RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. SEE ATTACHMENT. I STILL DRIVE MY CAR EVERYDAY WITH THE FAULTY AIR BAGS BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TIME TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER 6 HOURS TO BE TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT HAVE THE PART. THIS RECALL IS OBVIOUSLY NOT A PRIORITY FOR THE DEALERSHIPS YET I'M CONSTANTLY GETTING CALLS AND POSTCARDS THAT I NEED TO GET THE RECALL ISSUES FIXED. PERHAPS TOYOTA AND THE NHTSA SHOULD TRAIN THESE DEALERSHIPS TO MAKE THIS RECALL A PRIORITY. "TAKATA RECALL" THIS COMPLAINT IS NOT ABOUT THE AIRBAG ITSELF. IT HASN'T BEEN DEPLOYED. THIS IS ABOUT LUSTINE TOYOTA DEALER IN WOODBRIDGE, VA. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL. SHOULD HAVE TAKEN ONE HOUR. AFTER TWO HOURS OF WAITING AND PEOPLE WORKING THERE TRYING TO SELL ME ANOTHER CAR, THEY SAID THEY HAD NO PARTS TO FIX IT AND TOLD ME TO COME BACK AT ANOTHER TIME. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE A 6 WEEK OR MORE WAIT ON THE RECALL AND THEY WILL CONTACT ME. I FIND THIS TO UNACCEPTABLE FOR A SAFETY FEATURE.

I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART AND THERE IS A WAITING LIST FOR THE ACTUAL PART. I HAVE CALLED TOYOTA SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO HEAR THAT THEY ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE PART AND THEY WILL CALL ME ONCE IT IS IN. THE LETTER STATED: 'THIS IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL; TOYOTA HAS PREPARED SUFFICIENT PARTS FOR VEHICLES REGISTERED IN YOUR LOCATION.' I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH AUTHORIZED TOYOTA DEALER CHARLES BARKER TOYOTA IN VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE WORK PERFORMED. ALL THEY TOLD ME IN THIS NEWEST NOTICE IS THAT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND THAT PARTS ARE *STILL* NOT AVAILABLE TO REPLACE THE SRS ECU. THEIR RECOMMENDATION IS TO NOT HAVE ANYONE SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL I AM ABLE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I CONTACTED TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION CONCERNING A RECALL ON THE AIR BAG OF THE VEHICLE NOTED ABOVE. IN SPEAKING TO FIRST MICHELLE AND THEN JANEE, I COMPLAINED THAT THIS VEHICLE IS USED BY MY SON. SINCE THERE ARE OFTEN OTHER PEOPLE ALSO INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE I HAVE A CONCERN THAT THE AIR BAG, WHEN DEPLOYED, WILL CAUSE INJURY TO THE PASSENGERS, MOSTLY CHILDREN. I ASKED TOYOTA THAT SIMPLY NOT HAVING PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE AS A TEMPORARY MEASURE UNTIL THE RESOLUTION IS AVAILABLE, WITH NO TIME TABLE OF EXPECTED COMPLETION, IS UNACCEPTABLE. I REQUESTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT IN WHICH JANEE INFORMED ME THAT SHE WOULD TAKE THE COMPLAINT. AFTER THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED I ASKED WHAT THE NEXT STEP WAS; SHE STATED THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER STEPS. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT A RENTAL VEHICLE SUCH AS WHAT GM PROVIDED FOR THEIR RECALLS, SHE STATED THAT TOYOTA WILL NOT BE DOING THAT AND AGAIN RECOMMENDED THAT THE GUIDELINES OF NOT CARRYING PASSENGERS BE FOLLOWED. I FIND THE RESOLUTION BY TOYOTA TO THIS PROBLEM AS UNREASONABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE; PARTICULARLY IN THAT I AM FORCE TO ACCEPT ALL OF THE FINANCIAL LIABILITY SHOULD SOMEONE BECOME INJURED DURING THE OPERATION OF THIS VEHICLE. TOYOTA ISSUED OUT A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. THE RECALL WAS ON 03-04 COROLLA'S AND THE ISSUE IS THAT THE AIRBAG COULD DEPLOY AT ANY MOMENT OR IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT IT WOULD NOT DEPLOY. THEY FIXED THE COMPUTER, SENSOR ASSY, THE AIRBAG IT SELF AND THE HARNESS. HOWEVER, THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE A CABLE(KNOWING THAT THIS PART WAS A FAULTY PART) SINCE THEY SAID IT WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL. NOW WITH THIS CABLE ITS CALLED SPIRAL CABLE, THE REASON WHY IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS WELL BECAUSE IT COULD SEND THE WRONG SIGNAL AND STILL DEPLOY MY AIRBAG WITH OUT BEING IN AN ACCIDENT OR NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH BEFORE I STARTED BRAKING A COUPLE MOMENTS BEFORE IMPACT, SO I IMAGINE I WAS GOING AT LEAST 30-35 AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT LEFT CORNER OF MY VEHICLE; IT WAS UNDRIVEABLE AFTER. COMPLAINT: NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN MY COROLLA! THE OTHER CAR WAS GOING LESS THAN 10 MPH WHEN OUR CARS COLLIDED, BUT HER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE TOYOTA WEBSITE SAYS THAT AIRBAGS WON'T DEPLOY UNLESS IT IS A "SEVERE FRONTAL COLLISION". WHAT QUALIFIES AS "SEVERE"? NO RESPONSE YET FROM TOYOTA DEALER.
A VEHICLE MADE A LEFT TURN ACROSS THE HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF ME. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED FROM THE IMPACT TO THE FRONT LEFT. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY.

THE DRIVER DROVE AWAY WITHOUT PROBLEM. MY 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA HAS BEEN EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED WITH REPAIR COSTS EXCEEDING $10,000. THE TWO AIR BAGS BOTH DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT AND ASSOCIATED DAMAGE OCCURRED. IT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE OPINIONS AND COMMENTS.
