VEHICLE WAS GOING STRAIGHT AND WAS HIT BY A CAR WHO RAN A LEFT TURN ARROW ON A CITY STREET. WRECK WAS UNDER 50MPH BUT PASSENGER HAD EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DUE TO SEATBELT MALFUNCTION. .

I HAD MY CAR CHECKED BECAUSE A LIGHT CAME ON ON MY DASH ON 12/6/17 SO I HAD IT CHECKED AND IT ENDED UP BEING MY TIRE PRESSURE WAS LOW, BUT THE MONITOR THEY HOOK UP INDICATED THAT MY PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS AFFECTED, SO I TOOK IT INTO TOYOTA AND THEY LOOKED AT ME LIKE I WAS DUMB AND JUST TOLD ME THAT THEY PUT AIR IN MY TIRES AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. SO ON 12/12/17 MY MAINTENANCE REQUIRED LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD O'REILYS CHECK WITH THERE MONITOR AND AGAIN IT RED FLAGGED THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, I KNEW IT WAS TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE SO I FIGURED THAT'S WHY MY MAINTENANCE REQUIRED LIGHT WAS ON BUT WHAT CONCERNS ME IS THE AIRBAG. ACCORDING TO MY NOTES, I HAD MY AIRBAGS SUPPOSEDLY REPLACE IN JULY OF 2016 AND I AM NOT SURE IF A LIGHT WOULD COME ON INDICATING SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE AIRBAGS BUT I NEED TO FIND OUT IF AFTER A 1 1/2 YEARS WHY I WOULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY AIRBAG???? COULD THIS BE RELATED TO THE RECALL AND HOW DO I FIND OUT (OTHER THAN GOING IN TO TOYOTA) THAT THEY ACTUALLY REPLACED THE RECALLED AIRBAG???) THEY TELL ME THEY DID BUT DOESN'T MY VIN NUMBER HAVE TO BE KEPT TRACK OF SOMEWHERE BESIDES THE SPECIFIC DEALER THAT I WENT TO??? THEY TREATED ME LIKE CRAP AND TOLD ME IT WAS AN $89 DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND IF IT WAS AN AIRBAG WOULD COST BETWEEN $500-$700 DOLLARS. OCTOBER 9, 2017 I WAS REAR-ENDED, HIT AT 35 MPH. THIS HIT I WAS SITTING. I WAS SIDE SWIPED AT 40- 45 MPH, MOVING AT THIS TIME. I WAS AGAIN REAR-ENDED AT 50- 55 MPH, STOPPED. AND THEN I WAS BACKED INTO, IN THE FRONT END OF MY CAR AT 20-25 MPH. HOW COME NO AIRBAGS GO OFF?

I WENT TO MELODY TOYOTA IN SAN BRUNO, CA (SUMMER 2016) TO HAVE AIRBAG RECALL TAKEN CARE OF. THEY TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART AND THEY WOULD CALL ME FOR AN APPOINTMENT WHEN IT CAME IN. AFTER A MONTH WITH NO WORD FROM THEM I STOPPED BY AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME I DIDN'T NEED TO STOP BY BECAUSE THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE PART CAME IN. THAT WAS OVER A YEAR AGO AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T CALLED! I GOT A REMINDER ABOUT THE RECALL SUMMER 2017 AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT ONE TOYOTA OF OAKLAND FOR 10AM 7/18/17. THEY TOLD ME CAR WOULD BE READY BY 2:30. WHEN 4:00 CAME AND I HAD NO WORD I ASKED. AT AROUND 4:30 I WAS TOLD THEY HADN'T STARTED YET AND THEY ASKED ME IF I WANTED TO MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT FOR ANOTHER DAY. I WALKED OUT TOTALLY DISGUSTED. OBVIOUSLY THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS HAVE PUT THIS AIRBAG RECALL AT THE BOTTOM OF THEIR PRIORITY LIST. I WILL TRY FINDING A THIRD DEALERSHIP TODAY AND HOPE TO BE DONE WITH THIS SOON.

THE NOTICE SAID IT WAS URGENT . IT SPECIFIED THAT I SHOULD STOP USING THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT EVEN SAID THAT IF I FELT UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THE CAR, THEY WOULD PICK UP THE CAR FOR ME. I SENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER THE VERY NEXT DAY. THEY CHECKED AND VERIFIED MY CAR IS SUBJECT TO THE RECALL, BUT THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE PART WOULD ARRIVE. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 11 MONTHS SINCE THE NOTICE WAS SENT. THE PEOPLE AT THE DEALER DON'T EVEN KNOW WHEN THE PART WILL ARRIVE. TAKATA RECALL: I CONTACTED AUTO NATION TOYOTA IN CENTENNIAL, CO AT LEAST 4 WEEKS AGO TO GET THE "URGENT RECALL" REPAIRED. MY INITIAL CALL I WAS TRANSFERRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND FINALLY SENT TO A VOICEMAIL. AFTER A WEEK, MY CALL WAS NOT RETURNED, SO I AGAIN CALLED AND AFTER 15 MINUTES ON THE PHONE (THEY HAD TO FIND OUT WHAT THE RECALL WAS AND IF THEY HAD PARTS), I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND THEY WOULD ORDER THEM AND CALL ME WHEN THEY ARRIVED. ANOTHER WEEK PASSED AND I STILL HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY AUTONATION. I AGAIN CALLED AUTOMATION AND WAS AGAIN PUT ON HOLD FOR ABOUT 15 MIN BECAUSE THEY HAD NO INFORMATION THAT I HAD CALLED THE PREVIOUS TWO WEEKS. I WAS FINALLY TOLD AGAIN THAT THEY FOUND MY INFORMATION AND MY PARTS WERE ON ORDER AND I WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN THEY ARRIVED. ANOTHER WEEK PASSED SO I MADE MY FOURTH AND FINAL CALL. I WAS EVENTUALLY TRANSFERRED TO A VOICEMAIL AND I LEFT ANOTHER MESSAGE WITH ALL OF MY INFORMATION (VIN, NAME AND THAT I HAD CALLED 3 PREVIOUS TIMES ALREADY). THIS FINAL MESSAGE WAS ON FRIDAY, APRIL 22, 2016. AS OF TODAY, THURSDAY, APR. 28, 2016, I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A CALL FROM AUTO NATION TO REPAIR MY URGENT RECALL. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. ON APRIL 22, AFTER LEAVING THE FINAL MESSAGE WITH AUTONATION, I CONTACTED TWO OTHER TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS IN THE AREA AND BOTH AND THE PARTS AND WERE ABLE TO GET ME IN WITH JUST A FEW DAYS. IF AUTOMATION COULD NOT DO THE REPAIRS, THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT INITIALLY, INSTEAD THEY LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THEY WOULD DO IT, ALL THE WHILE WE ARE DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR AND FOUR WEEKS PASSED BY. IT MENTIONS THAT THE AIRBAG INFLATOR MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT PASSENGERS IN MY CAR HAVE BEEN, POTENTIALLY, AT SERIOUS RISK. A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE CAME OUT TO SEE THE VEHICLE AND INSPECT THE SCREWS, AND SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT AT FAULT AND THAT THE PROBLEM "HAD TO BE MY FAULT" AFTER COMPARING MY VEHICLE TO OTHER TOYOTA COROLLA VEHICLES, STATING THAT I OR SOMEONE ELSE "HAD TO OF REMOVED THE AIRBAG AT SOME TIME DURING THE VEHICLE'S LIFE". I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED IN JANUARY, 2011 FROM A REPUTABLE DEALER AND RECEIVED A VEHICLE HISTORY. AT NO TIME WAS THE AIRBAG REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED OR SERVICED, AND THE SCREWS REQUIRE A SPECIALIZED TORQUE SCREWDRIVER TO REMOVE. THE CONSUMER STATED AS HE SAW THE DEER, HE IMMEDIATELY REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO SLOW DOWN, BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND, SO HE TRIED TO MAINTAIN THE SPEED HE HAD BEEN DRIVING. THE CONSUMER APPLIED BOTH FEET TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN AN EFFORT TO STOP THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED. THE DEALER STATED A SENSOR WAS STUCK WHICH CAUSED IT TO FAIL. *JB
I WAS DECELERATING WITH MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. THERE WAS A CAR AHEAD OF ME AT THE LIGHT, AND AS I PULLED UP BEHIND IT, I PUT MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN I HIT BRAKES, I FOUND THAT THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING AND THAT THE CAR WAS ACCELERATING. I PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE, AND PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UNTIL IT ENDED UP PUSHING ON THE CAR AHEAD OF ME. I DID EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OF TO STOP THE CAR, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO UNTIL I TURNED THE KEY OFF. AS FAR AS I KNOW, THERE WERE NO INJURIES, AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, NO TICKETS WERE ISSUED AND THE BUMPERS OF BOTH CARS WERE NOT DENTED, BUT HAD VERY DEEP SCRAPES ON THEM. THE MAT WAS HOOKED AT THE TIME AND WAS NOT INVOLVED AND I DIDN'T TOUCH THE GAS. I HAD MY HUSBAND FOLLOW ME TO MY DEALERSHIP, WHERE I ASKED THEM TO INSPECT THE CAR AND LET ME KNOW IF IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THEY REFUSED TO INSPECT IT AND REFERRED ME TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I DID THAT, BUT I ALSO TALKED TO TOYOTA'S SERVICE LINE IN CALIFORNIA AND THEY SAID THE BEST THEY COULD DO WAS ARRANGE FOR AN INSPECTION WITH RESULTS IN APPX 74 DAYS. MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAD AN INDEPENDENT INSPECTION, BUT ALL HE TOLD ME WAS THAT MY ACCELERATOR WAS NOT "CABLE". THE TOYOTA COMPANY TOLD ME I COULD GO AHEAD AND HAVE THE BODY WORK DONE AS LONG AS THE REPAIRS DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE BRAKE OR THE IGNITION. POLICE WERE CALLED AT THE SCENE, BUT DID NOT MEET WITH US. *TR
