I purchased my car in March 2023. From the first week, it wouldn't start sometimes. Id wait 5 minutes, then it would start fine. I thought it was when it got wet, at first. I also had a certain part replaced air flow compressor, possibly was called?, thinking this would fix it. It did not. In fact, the problem seemed to be happening more and more but, always, if I waited 5 to 10 minutes, sometimes messed around under the hood, it would start. This was not very comforting however, when it would stall at a light and not start right back up. I took it to AutoZone and was run on the diagnostics machine. Was told it needed new spark plugs and ignition coil packs. Which I got and replaced. Still happening. I took back to AutoZone, had it run again on diagnostic. This time it said battery. So I had a new battery put in. Still happening. All along, might I add, my fuses will blow randomly, my headlights And taillights will blow for no reason. One taillightooks like it melted through the plastic before it decided to blow. I e replaced some fuses, only to have blown again. I also have replaced the light bulb in taillight, only to have blown twice more. This is very dangerous, especially at a traffic light or, late at night if I need to go somewhere or leave somewhere And it won't start. I've been stuck in the middle of the road, on the wring sidevif the riad, in the midfle if a snowstorm, with it not starting for me. Also, it was gett5really cold without heat and, I was nearly hit several times as i was also at the bottom of a steep hill when my car decided to stop sliding backwards and stall on me and would not restart. That was the most fearful I have been with this issue and with good reason! I now see several others having similar issues with their same exact car. Why isn't Toyota addressing this?

My driver’s side window controls are slowly falling into the doors. I read where there was a recall online, but I have never received any paperwork. I am the original owner and have had all work done at various Toyota’s for 13 years now. Will I be able to have a dealer fix this? Thank you,

I have had my 2009 Toyota Corolla since day 1. I seen another post in here that is having the same issue as myself. I have had to replace my battery 3 times all because the “wiring harness” on this vehicle is faulty. Toyota knew about this beforehand. As customers we put our trust and faith in these big corporations to do the right thing when making these vehicles. We, as customers, shouldn’t have to purchase and pay for labor when all while Toyota was aware of the faulty wiring harness. This causes more issues than 1 because it controls everything inside and outside of your car.

My Toyota power door lock actuators continue to fail, even after multiple replacements. The failure mode starts as intermittent operation, often leaving doors unlocked when using the electronic locking system. Eventually the door lock actuator fails to respond at all. The intermittent nature of the failure onset puts consumers at risk for not realizing the system left their car unlocked, providing an opportunity for someone to enter the vehicle and wait in the car for vehicle owner to return or to have things stolen from the vehicle. Based on the repeated failures, the actuator design or manufacturing process is clearly defective. The repeated actuator failures requires the customer to be vigilant for failures and the pay for replacement, several hundreds of dollars each time, out of their own pocket since Toyota refuses to acknowledge an egregious failure rate on their power door lock mechanisms. Cynical observers may note that the failures generate a regular revenue stream for Toyota service departments. Thank you for your time.

MY CAR HAS 91,414 MILES AND HAS HAD MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRES WITH MY NORMAL DAILY COMMUTE OF SIX MILES EACH WAY. IN THREE YEARS ON A 4 CYLINDER ENGINE I HAVE HAD THREE IGNITION COILS REPLACED, TWICE WITHIN TWO AND A HALF YEARS AND 10,468 MILES ON THE #2 COIL. ALL REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED BY TOYOTA CERTIFIED REPAIR FACILITIES WITH TOYOTA OEM PARTS. THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE MAINTAINED WITH REGULAR SERVICE.

I OWN A 2009 COROLLA THAT HAS 108,000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL FIX, AND IT ALSO HAD THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ON. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE OBD-II CODE P0354 CAME UP IN THE DIAGNOSTICS AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE WIRE HARNESS AT A COST OF $2,000 DOLLARS. I DID MY OWN RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS TOYOTA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN LINK THAT DESCRIBES EXACTLY THE PROBLEM AND ALSO INCLUDES MY CAR'S VIN. THE SYMPTOMS ARE SIMILAR TO A VOLUNTEER SAFETY RECALL A0J FOR 2007-2008 COROLLA MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 1ZZ-FE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE. THE ECM FOR CERTAIN 2005 THROUGH 2008 TOYOTA COROLLA AND COROLLA MATRIX MODELS EQUIPPED WITH THE 1ZZ-FE ENGINE AND TWO-WHEEL DRIVE MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A CRACK MAY DEVELOP AT CERTAIN SOLDER POINTS OR ON VARISTORS ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD. DOORS WERE NOT LOCKED AND IN THE OPEN "RED" COLOR POSITION.

MY 2009 COROLLA EXPERIENCED ISSUES IDENTICAL TO A PRIOR RECALL CIRCA 2010 FOR '05-'08 COROLLA & MATRIX MODELS REGARDING ENGINE CONTROL MODULES (ECM) THAT MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED. ON 3/30/16, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED HARSH SHIFTING AND STRUGGLED FOR GAS. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WITH OVER A 1/4 TANK OF GAS ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT THE TIME. ON 3/31/16, I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSTICS WERE RUN AND ECM FAULT CODES WERE IDENTIFIED. SERVICE ASSOCIATES WORKING ON MY COROLLA ADDRESSED THEIR CONCERNS AND WERE REPEATEDLY DENIED REQUESTS FOR A REPLACEMENT ECM. AT ONE POINT, I WAS ADVISED BY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP STAFF TO PERSONALLY ORDER AN ECM UNIT THROUGH THE PARTS DEPT., INSISTING THAT THE REQUEST COMING DIRECTLY FROM A CUSTOMER WOULD NOT BE DENIED. I ATTEMPTED TO PLACE AN ORDER WITH PARTS, AND THAT REQUEST LATER WAS DENIED. AFTER SEVERAL RE-TESTS AND DENIED REQUESTS FOR A REPLACEMENT ECM, MY VEHICLE RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT TAIL LIGHT BULB (WHAT I REFER TO AS A "BAND-AID" FIX) AND WAS RELEASED BACK TO ME ON 4/5/16. THE VERY NEXT MORNING (4/6/16), CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN. ONCE AGAIN, CODES TIED TO THE ECM WERE IDENTIFIED. AFTER ANOTHER WEEK OF TESTS, DENIED ECM FIX REQUESTS, AND ANOTHER BAND-AID REPAIR, THE VEHICLE WAS RELEASED BACK TO ME ON 4/14/16. DURING THIS TWO-WEEK ORDEAL, I INCURRED OVER $540 IN RENTAL CAR EXPENSES AND $186 IN "BAND-AID" REPAIRS, DESPITE THE FACT THAT ECM ISSUES WERE IDENTIFIED FROM THE BEGINNING. I HAVE OPENED 2 CASES WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER TO ADDRESS THIS ECM ISSUE WITH MY 2009 COROLLA, THE PRIOR 2010 RECALL, AND HAVE REQUESTED THAT MY VIN BE INCORPORATED INTO THE RECALL. SO FAR, TOYOTA HAS DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY, INSISTING THAT THEIR ECMS DON'T FAIL, OFFERING NO ASSISTANCE FOR ISSUES THEY DEEM OFF-WARRANTY/OFF-RECALL.

I HAD SPOKEN TO MIKE FROM CARSON TOYOTA REGARDING THIS RECALL MORE THAN 6 MONTHS AGO. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS RECALL FROM MY COWORKER WHO HAS THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR CAR AS MINE. MIKE HAD TOLD ME THAT ONLY A FEW TOYOTAS WERE ON RECALL AND THE LAST TIME I HAD GOTTEN MY OIL CHANGED THERE, HE TOLD ME THAT MY MODEL WAS NOT IN THAT RECALL.. BUT I DID GET A LETTER IN THE MAIL. I TOLD HIM THAT MY COWORKER TOLD ME ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL WINDOW ON THE RIGHT SIDE. MIKE HAD TOLD ME THAT IT WOULDN'T BE COVERED. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ABOUT $400 PLUS FOR THAT WINDOW THAT GOT STUCK. MIKE DID TELL ME THAT MY VIN MODEL WAS NOT COUNTED FOR. I AM REAL UPSET. THIS PAST DECEMBER, I DROVE TO SAN FRANCISCO WHEN IT IS RAINING AND WINDY, THIS IS A REAL BIG HAZARD FOR A BRANCH TO HAVE COME INSIDE MY CAR WITHOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING ABLE TO CLOSE TO THE WINDOW AND HAD POKED HER ARM SOME HOW.

I HAVE A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA (LE). I BOUGHT IT ALMOST EXACTLY 3 YEARS AGO WITH ABOUT 12,300 MILES ON IT. CURRENTLY, IT DOES NOT HAVE 50K. I HAVE TO DRIVE DOWNTOWN FOR NURSING SCHOOL, IT TAKES ROUGHLY 20-30 MINUTES. THE VERY TERRIFYING AND INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT I HAVE BEEN HAVING IS THAT I WILL BE DRIVING 65MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND IT WILL SUDDENLY JUST DROP DOWN TO 30/40MPH. DUE TO THIS ISSUE, I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN A CRASH. I WILL CHANGE LANES THINKING MY CAR WILL ACCELERATE TO PASS SOMEONE AND IT WILL JUST DROP DOWN TO 30MPH! ALSO, WHILE I AM IDLE, IT WILL SHAKE AND REV..SO THE RPM WILL BE UP CLOSE TO 2; YET, I AM IDLE! I HAVE READ OF OTHERS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUES. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED SOONER. THE WORST PART IS NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG. I TOOK IT AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST RUN, IT SAID ONE OF THE IGNITION COILS WAS FAULTY..ON A 2009 TOYOTA WITH LESS THAN 50K MILES...THAT DOESN'T SOUND, RIGHT HUH. WELL, I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY GAVE ME A NEW BATTERY, AN OIL CHANGE AND RAN ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST (AFTER SWITCHING THE IGNITION COIL(B) TO ANOTHER (ACORD). IT RECORDED NOTHING. I SPENT $500 IT WAS FINE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. I AM VERY ANGRY WITH TOYOTA FOR NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE, ESPECIALLY SINCE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED IT AND IT IS DANGEROUS. MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS IS AT RISK.

I WAS UNAWARE AND SO WAS THE MECHANIC THAT THE TIMING BELTS WERE DAMAGED UNTIL AFTER THE WATER PUMP AND SERPENTINE BELT WAS REPLACED. DUE TO TIMING ISSUES FROM THE PREVIOUS MALFUNCTIONS, I AM NOW IN NEED OF A NEW MOTOR. MY VEHICLE HAS ALL REQUIRED REPAIRS OR MAINTENANCE COMPLETED AS SCHEDULED AND MY VEHICLE HAS NOT EVEN MADE IT TO 80,000 MILES.

I MANAGED TO PULL INTO A BANK PARKING LOT AT CHASE BANK ON 161 W SPRING CREEK PKWY, PLANO. MY PREVIOUS CAR WAS 1995 COROLLA, HAD SAME EXPERIENCE. I WOULD NEVER FEEL SAFE IN THESE VEHICLES. I FEEL THESE DENSO ALTERNATORS MAY BE DEFECTIVE AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND GENTLE USE. ANYONE ELSE HAVE SIMILAR ISSUE WITH DENSO ALTERNATOR [MODEL 104210-5480]?

DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW SWITCH STARTED SMOKING AND I HAD TO TAKE IT OUT TO PREVENT A FIRE. ONE OF THE SWITCHES WOULD NOT OPERATE FREELY AND SEEMED TO GET STUCK. THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE A FIRE AND WHEN I REMOVED IT I FOUND COMPONENTS MELTED. CANNOT OPERATE WINDOW AND IT IS IN OPEN POSITION. DANGEROUS CAR TO DRIVE. VEHICLE DRIFTS HARD LEFT WHEN DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. PROBLEM IS MADE WORSE WHEN DRIVING NEXT TO A LARGE TRAILER TRUCK WITH CROSSWINDS. CAR STEERING HAS A LARGE LOOSE, DEAD CENTER FEEL DISCONNECTED TO THE ROAD. WHEN TURNING, THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE CENTER. THE DRIVER HAS TO MANUALLY CORRECT THE WHEEL EVERY TIME. I PURCHASED THE CAR "NEW" FROM THE DEALER. I STILL OWN IT TODAY, AND THE STEERING IS JUST AS BAD. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA WHICH I PURCHASED NEW FROM A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD THEM DO RECOMMENDED SERVICE, ETC. AND HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE OF THIS VEHICLE. IN JULY 2014 MY CAR WAS MAKING A RATTLING SOUND AND I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE. AT THAT TIME IT BARELY TURNED OVER AND STARTED, ALTHOUGH I HAD REPLACED THE BATTERY IN 2013. THE CAR HAD A FAULTY ALTERNATOR AND WHEN THEY WERE DOING SERVICE THEY ALSO DISCOVERED A BROKEN WATER PUMP. THE CAR ONLY HAD APPRX. 27,000 MILES AT THAT TIME. ON 8-9-15 THE CAR BARELY STARTED AND AS I BACKED OUT THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST MY POWER STEERING. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE PROBLEM WAS ANOTHER DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR! THE CAR ONLY HAS LESS THAN 32,000 MILES AND ANOTHER ALTERNATOR. ALTHOUGH THE PART WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY, THE DEALERSHIP COVERED THE PART, BUT I HAD TO PAY 132.00 LABOR AND GO WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR 2 DAYS. MY FAMILY AND I ALWAYS OWN TOYOTAS AND HAVE EXCELLENT SERVICE FROM THE CARS. THIS ONE, NOT SO MUCH! NOW I'M WONDERING WHAT WILL GO NEXT. I THINK THIS WILL BE MY LAST TOYOTA.

THE HIGH BEAMS ON THE HEADLIGHTS COME ON WITHOUT THE CONTROL BEING TOUCHED. THIS BEGAN WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR & STILL DOES. AT FIRST IT WOULD HAPPEN AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY BUT NOW IT HAPPENS ONLY WHEN IT IS DARK OR GETTING DARK. THIS COULD IMPAIR THE VISION OF THE DRIVER OF AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. IT IS MOST DANGEROUS ON NARROW STREETS. THERE ARE OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT OCCUR FROM TIME TO TIME SUCH AS THE CRUISE CONTROL, POWER MIRRORS, AIR CONDITIONER, DRIVING & DASH LIGHTS NOT WORKING. ALSO THE DOME LIGHT HAS REMAINED ON CAUSING THE BATTERY TO RUN DOWN .THESE LATTER PROBLEMS DO NOT SEEM TO POSE THE THREAT THAT THE HEADLIGHTS DO BUT THEY SEEM TO BE CONNECTED & THEY ARE A DISTRACTION THAT COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS. AT 89,000 MILES, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON EARLY IN THE DAY BUT I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT AFTER STOPPING AT TOYOTA WHO CONFIRMED IT WAS A "BATTERY LIGHT." LATER IN THE DAY, WHILE TRAVELING CLOSE TO HOME AT ABOUT 25MPH, ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR STARTED TO SEIZE UP: STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND I COULD BARELY GET THE CAR OVER TO THE CURB (IT HAPPENED WITHIN MINUTES). THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. IT TURNED OUT TO BE AN ALTERNATOR GONE BAD. FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE BUT I AM GLAD IT HAPPENED AT 25 MPH AND NOT ON THE FREEWAY EARLIER IN THE DAY, OR IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. MY REPAIR MECHANIC DID A COMPUTER SCAN INDICATING POSSIBLE PROBLEMS WITH A SWITCH AND SUGGESTED THAT I DRIVE AROUND FOR ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE RETURNING. 2. A SIMILAR INCIDENT OCCURRED 10 DAYS LATER. I GLIDED INTO A PARKING LOT, WAITED 10 MIN., AND THE CAR RESUMED AT REGULAR SPEED. 3. ON 8/7/14, I DROVE 2 MI. BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP AT A REGULAR SPEED. A SECOND SCAN COULD NOT BE COMPLETED BECAUSE THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED RESPONDING TO THE REPAIR SHOP'S COMPUTER. AT THIS POINT THE CAR IS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE AND MUST BE TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALER. I WAS DRIVING ON CA HWY 101 AT 7:30PM WHEN I SMELLED, THEN SAW SMOKE AND FLAMES COMING FROM THE DRIVER-SIDE DOOR. LUCKILY, I HAD A GALLON OF DRINKING WATER WITHIN REACH. I POURED IT ON THE FIRE WHILE SWERVING TO THE MARGIN SO AS TO AVOID COLLISION. I EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND DISCONNECTED THE WINDOWS-SWITCH PANEL. APPARENTLY, A SHORT-CIRCUIT IN THE WINDOW SWITCHES IGNITED THE SOUND-INSULATION MATERIAL THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIRE-PROOF TO BEGIN WITH. THE FIRE MELTED MOST OF THE DRIVER-SIDE PLASTIC DOOR COVER AND PARTIALLY FRIED THE SWITCHES AND ASSOCIATED WIRING. I FOUND THE ARTICLE 'BURNING TOYOTA CAMRY/RAV4 WINDOW SWITCHES PROMPT NHTSA INVESTIGATION' AND MANY OTHERS THAT EXPLAINED EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO MY TOYOTA DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE CAR. I ASKED THE DEALER TO REPAIR THE CAR AT NO COST TO ME BECAUSE, OBVIOUSLY, THE FIRE RESULTED FROM AN INHERENT DEFECT. THE DEALER SAID HE WON'T REPAIR THE CAR FOR FREE. HOWEVER, HE DID RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL AND COMPLIED BY TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE ON FEBRUARY 17, 2010. HOWEVER, ON MARCH 6, 2010, THE CONSUMER MADE A RIGHT TURN ON A STREET THAT WAS CURVY AND WAS RELATIVELY STEEP DESCENDING TOWARD AN INTERSECTION. HE GENTLY APPLIED THE BRAKES 2-3 TIMES DURING THE DESCENT TO MAINTAIN A SPEED OF 15-20 MPH. AT NO TIME DID HE DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR DURING THE DESCENT AND THE ENGINE WAS IDLING AS THE VEHICLE COASTED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL. HE RESTARTED THE ENGINE WITH HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE GEAR SELECTOR IN NEUTRAL AND IT STARTED WITH THE SAME ROAR. HE TURNED IT OFF AGAIN AND WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES. HE DECIDED TO TRY ONE MORE TIME AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED IN NORMAL MODE. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS GARAGED, THE DOORS WERE BARELY KEPT LOCKED. OVER THE LAST 6-9 MONTHS ABOUT ONCE A MONTH WHEN THE CONSUMER ENTERED THE GARAGE, HE DISCOVERED THE DOORS WERE LOCKED. 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED*CW THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE PULLING INTO A VACANT PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LURCHED FORWARD AT FULL THROTTLE PUSHING HIM BACK INTO THE SEAT FROM THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. EVEN THOUGH, HE TRIED TO REACT QUICKLY, THE VEHICLE HIT A CURB THEN WENT OVER THE CURB AND TRAVELED 3 FEET BEYOND BEFORE HE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY PUTTING THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AND HARD BRAKING. THE CONSUMER EXITED THE VEHICLE TO CHECK FOR DAMAGE, BUT THERE WASN'T ANY. HE NOTICED THAT THE REVVED ENGINE WAS IDLING AT A NORMAL SPEED. THE CONSUMER DIDN'T BELIEVE WHAT HE EXPERIENCED WAS AN ACCELERATOR ISSUE, RATHER A PROBLEM WITH THE MPU AND CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR THE FUEL AND AIR MIXTURE. *JB

PURCHASED A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA ON JAN. 31, 2009. IMMEDIATELY NOTICED "UNWANTED ACCELERATION", THE CAR WANTED TO GO WHEN STOPPED UNLESS THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED HARD AND DID NOT SLOW DOWN IMMEDIATELY WHEN FOOT WAS TAKEN OFF THE GAS PEDAL. GAS PEDAL DID NOT ALWAYS COME ALL THE WAY UP WHEN FOOT TAKEN OFF, BUT WOULD POP UP IF BRAKES APPLIED HARD. CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. MENTIONED CONCERN SEVERAL TIMES TO TOYOTA SERVICE DEPT. THEY TOLD ME THAT WHAT I WAS DESCRIBING WAS NORMAL FOR THOSE CARS. THE CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON 12/22/09. HIT ANOTHER CAR FROM BEHIND. I THINK THAT THE "NOT SLOWING DOWN IMMEDIATELY WHEN FOOT TAKEN OFF GAS PEDAL" WAS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THE ACCIDENT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES BUT THE CAR WAS BADLY DAMAGED. IN THE PAST YEAR, I HAVE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN 'JERKS' DURING ACCELERATION ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS, AND HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED TWICE, IN AUGUST 2009 AND IN DECEMBER 2009. IN BOTH INSTANCES, TOYOTA MECHANICS ADVISED THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY A PROBLEM. ADDITIONALLY, THROUGHOUT THE PAST YEAR, I HAVE EXPERIENCED NOTICEABLE PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, WHICH RAISE CONCERNS ABOUT THE OVERALL INTEGRITY OF THE ELECTRICS. 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA, "S" AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE PROBLEM WAS INITIALLY IDENTIFIED BY ME WHEN MY CAR WOULD NOT CATCH WHILE ON A SLOPE IN DRIVE. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD ROLL BACK. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS WAS NORMAL DUE TO A LOSS OF PRESSURE, HOWEVER IT WOULD DO IT EVEN IF I BARLEY STOPPED ON A GRADUAL INCLINE FOR A FEW SECONDS. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO ROLL BACK UNLESS I HAD ONE FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND ONE FOOT ON THE GAS WHILE TO KEEP ME STEADY TO START. THIS HAPPENED AT FROM THE TIME I PURCHASED THE CAR. RECENTLY, I MY ENGINE HAS BEEN RUNNING REALLY ROUGH AND WINDING AT A HIGH PITCH WHILE DRIVING. IT NOW INTERMITTENTLY GOES BETWEEN GEARS AND DOWNSHIFTS AUTOMATICALLY INTO GEARS THAT ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THE SPEEDS TRAVELING. THIS CAUSES A DRASTIC DOWN SPEED, AND EXAMPLE IS I WILL BE ON THE FREEWAY TRAVELING SPEEDS BETWEEN 50-65 AND IT WILL DOWNSHIFT AND REDUCE MY SPEED TO 40 MPH OR LESS, THEN I WILL TRY TO ACCELERATE AND IT WILL REDLINE OUT, AS IF I AM IN NEUTRAL AND I WILL HAVE NO CONTROL TO REGAIN SPEED UNTIL IT AUTOMATICALLY PUSHES ITSELF BACK INTO GEAR, AND THEN INCREASES MY SPEED AT A RAPID PACE, WITHOUT ME PUTTING MY FOOT ON THE GAS. AT THIS POINT, I AM REQUIRED TO PLACE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO CONTROL MY SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TAKEN MY CAR BACK TWICE AND CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED IT TWICE BASED ON THE READS, BUT I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE READS ON THE COMPUTER WILL SAY THAT IT IS AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION... HOWEVER THEY CAN NOT IDENTIFY WHERE THE MALFUNCTION IS COMING FROM. PARTS HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED AND NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE TO FIX THIS AT THIS TIME. TOYOTA IS NOT ASSISTING WITH THE RECALL AND I AM LEFT WITH LOTS OF SHOP HOURS. THINKING ABOUT REGISTERING FOR THE LEMON LAW ABOUT MY CAR, I DRIVE APX. 1000 MILES WEEK AND MY CAR IS NOT SAVING, CONSISTENT, AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE HAVE NO CONTROL WHILE MY CAR MALFUNCTIONS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BACK ON THE SAME DAY COMPUTER WAS REPLACED. MECHANIC PLACED CALL TO TOYOTA TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. HE WAS ADVISED TO TRY REPLACING WIRING HARNESS. CHECK ENGINE STILL ON AFTER REPAIR. TECH. ASSISTANCE THEN SAID TO TRY REPLACING FUEL INJECTOR. LIGHT STILL ON. TOYOTA HAS CALLED IN A FIELD REP TO ASSESS THE SITUATION. VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 12 DAYS NOW AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. THE COMPUTER IS NOT REGISTERING ANY ERROR CODES. *TR
