I purchased this vehicle in November 2024 from a dealership. On July 8, 2025, I was involved in a crash where the airbag failed to deploy. After the accident, I learned there was an active recall from 2020 (NHTSA Recall No. 20V024) related to the airbag control system. The recall had not been repaired, and I was never informed of it when I bought the car. This defect may have worsened my injuries and left me completely unprotected during the crash.
I had my airbag repaired back in 2022 due to a safety recall and that light has since then turned on again
I placed my laptop bag, which weighs less than 15 lbs., on the passenger seat. Despite this, the seatbelt warning system continues to alert me about the seatbelt not being worn. The passenger seat should be able to detect when a human passenger is present. Unfortunately, I have to buckle the seatbelt to turn off the warning light and chime, even though there is no human passenger or item weighing more than 15 lbs.
My daughter was hit from rear and the air bags didn't deploy the car was a total loss.

My daughter was driving my car on the interstate the airbags deployed and hit her in the face, filled the car up with smoke, she couldn’t see anything she hit the iron poles that are together by cables. My car is totaled. My back tire broke completely off of the car. These cars aren’t built safe. I owned my car and now I’m without a car. Has anyone else ever had this happen? Air bags deploying for no reason?

The manufacturer requested a demand letter but provided no further assistance. I tried to stop as car in front me had stepped on brakes. I didn't stop and slid into back of another vehicle. Air bags did not deploy.

DAMAGE TO EVERY SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED BUT THEY FAILED TO DO SO. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY VEHICLE LAST YEAR AND BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE AIRBAGS FIXED. HOWEVER, THEY STILL FAILED TO DEPLOY.

THE CONTACT'S MOTHER ARRIVED AND DROVE THE CONTACT AND HER CHILD TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE SHE WAS TREATED FOR HER INJURIES. HIGHWAY PATROL TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A LOT WHERE THE INSURANCE ADJUSTOR WENT OUT AND DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. MY TOYOTA WAS TEE BONED BY A DRIVER WHO RAN STOP SIGN. MY WIFE AND I WERE INJURED WHEN OUR AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS FAILED TO DEPLOY PROPERLY. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED EVEN THOUGH WE WERE TRAVELING AT 40MPH AND WERE HIT HARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THE OTHER DRIVER RAN A STOP SIGN AND HIT US BROADSIDE.

NOT A SINGLE AIR BAG DEPLOYED! SHE SUFFERED MULTIPLE BLUNT HITS TO THE HEAD FROM HITTING AGAINST THE DOOR, SHE HAS A CONCUSSION WITH SPRAINED SHOULDER AND ANKLES. GRANTED SHE SHOULD BE IN MUCH WORSE CONDITION BUT WE ARE GRATEFUL SHE HAD HER BLANKETS AND HER DOGS BEDS THAT FLEW FROM THE BACK SEAT TO THE FRONT HELPING TO KEEP HER PADDED FROM EVEN MORE TRAUMA. I FEEL THAT A SIDE CURTAIN AND STEERING BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. IS THIS A FLUKE THAT TOYOTA ENGINEERS MISSED? BECAUSE NO PARTICULAR CORNER WAS IMPACTED? SO I HAD TO TRADE IT ON A NEW 2015 TOYOTA SINCE NO OTHER MANUFACTURER WOULD TAKE IT AND I COULD NOT SELL IT AS IS. TOYOTA WOULD AND WILL NOT TELL ME IF 2015 COROLLA HAS TAKATA AIRBAGS SO IT MUST HAVE THEM. THUS, THIS 2015 CAR SHOULD BE ON RECALL AS WELL. I UNDERSTAND TOYOTA IS NO LONGER USING TAKATA AS A SOURCE FOR AIRBAGS. THEY HAVE A SYSTEM ON MY NEW CAR WHICH SHUTS OFF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IF NO ONE IS IN THAT SEAT BUT THAT IS NOT A SATISFACTORY SOLUTION. TAKATA AIRBAGS ARE LIFE THREATENING AND SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM CAR AND REPLACED AT TOYOTA'S EXPENSE.
