This Vehicle's frame had an extended warranty on it for excessive rust damage in the northern cities. There are holes in the frame, very close to welding points that may break at anytime while driving. And cause an accident.
I want to bring attention to the a fatal flaw designed into Toyota truck frames. I understand Toyota denied my claim and I am out of luck with the repairs on my truck. However it is morally responsible for me to bring awareness to this deadly issue. Since most owners don't know they have a problem until the frame breaks, it is worth raising awareness to save human life. This is not a cosmetic issue, its a life or death issue for the consumer. The frame on my truck is completely rusted. In 2013, a Toyota dealership did a frame inspection on my 2003 truck per the recall notice to the previous owner. Toyota had a safety recall for a two step frame replacement for 12 years. The inspection noted an excessive amount of corrosion and rust on the frame components. In 2014, another Toyota dealership decided to spray a sealer over the rust instead of replacing the frame. The sealer trapped moisture and accelerated the oxidation process. This made the problem worse and the rust spread and destroyed the metal to a point its not repairable or safe to drive. The frame of the truck is only 20 years old and was garage kept. However it was operated in a cold climate where salt is applied to the roadways. After filing a several cases with Toyota US I was told its the consumers responsibility and the case was denied. Me and the previous owner did follow the guidelines set forth by the safety frame recall. Since Toyota worked on the frame during the time of the recall they should be held responsible for any liability to human life. Now that these vehicle are starting to age we will start see fatalities on our roadways that will be directly linked to bad frame design. Crumple zones and vehicle safety systems are not effective when the structure they are built upon are defective. I have attached pictures and dealer paperwork for review.
I have a 2003 Toyota Sequoia 167k miles that has major frame rust. This is now becoming a safety issue and Toyota needs to be held accountable!
Undercarriage frame found to be badly rusted, by a AAA Driver who came to my roadside assistance following a brake failure due to rusted and leaky brake lines.
Abnormal rust all over underside of vehicle including frame, structural components, brake lines, steering components … etc. FRAME and steering/suspension components rusting out. Rear differential rusting out. Cab mounts rusting out. Spare tire hardware rusting out. Transmission cooler lines about to burst from corrosion. Rear tow assembly rusting out. Entire underside is rotting out. Known issue which has plagued hundreds of owners, but Toyota has not recalled this model year. Extremely dangerous; one brake line has already gone out resulting in a loss of braking. Toyota applied an undercoating circa 2013 but they just sprayed over an already rusted frame and other components without proper preparation which actually accelerated the corrosion and rot. Deceptive and unethical business practices. Vehicle cost over $50,000 new in 2003 and only has just over 120,000 miles on it. This should NOT be happening. Please help. Please investigate.
Hello, I am writing to you to have an investigation started on 2003 Toyota Sequoia, I own one and there has been concerns with the Frame of the vehicle rotting out, there was Warranty Enhancement Program sent out in United States to cover frames of 2001 to 2004 Toyota Sequoias which replaced severely rusted out frames at the dealership. I use this vehicle for my family and I do not want to endanger the lives of them and the people around the community where the frame may break due to rust and cause a severe accident. The contact owns a 2003 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that the vehicle was rusted and towed to the local dealer and diagnosed that the rear differential casing and steering column needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 240,000.Note: While driving, a loud grinding noise was heard and the vehicle was shaking. 1 pulled over and had the car towed. It was determined the rear differential casing was completely rusted and the oil leaked out. It-was also determined the Steering column was completely rusted. The vehicle was recalled in 2012, due to rust issues. The dealership stated they would do the recall work but the vehicle was in poor shape. When I contacted Toyota, they said it was a courtesy recall and will not do any further. Consumer is asking for assistance with the cost of repair due to poor workmanship.

WHEN TAKING MY 2003 SEQUOIA TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING ISSUE I WAS HAVING, I WAS TOLD THE FRAME WAS SO RUSTED OUT IS WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO COVER ANY COSTS INVOLVED IN REPAIRING OR REPLACING THE FRAME.

THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER HENDRICK TOYOTA LOCATED AT 9505 W 67TH ST, MERRIAM, KS 66203 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED IN 2013 UNDER A MANUFACTURERS CAMPAIGN REGARDING THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 181,000.

MY 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA HAS RUST HOLES THROUGH MY FRAME TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE TO DRIVE IT AS IT'S MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN THAT I HAVE TO TAKE WITH ME. TOYOTA USA SAID THEY PERFORMED A TREATMENT TO THE GRAM IN 2012 AND THAT THEIR IS NOTHING FURTHER THEY WILL DO TO RESOLVE THIS BLATANT SAFETY ISSUE. TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP DUE TO STEERING ISSUE - WHEN I WOULD HIT A BUMP I WOULD LOOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. INSPECTION SHOWED THE VEHICLE UNDER BODY AND FRAME HAS COMPLETELY RUSTED, THERE ARE SEVER HOLES AND THE TRAILING ARM HAS SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME. I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER, BUT TOYOTA HAD A RECALL ON THE FRAME DURING THE PRIOR OWNERSHIP AND THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED MULTIPLE TIMES AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP DURING THE RECALL AND THE PROBLEM WAS NOT ADDRESSED. TOYOTA REFUSES TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AT THIS TIME.

TWO WEEKS AGO WE WERE TOLD THAT THE FRAME HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER DOING RESEARCH WE FOUND OUT THAT TOYOTA HAD A LIMITED FRAME REPAIR OFFER BUT WE MISSED THE DEADLINE. WE WERE NEVER TOLD BY TOYOTA OR THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE TEAM ABOUT THE RECALL OR THE DAMAGE TO OUR TRUCK. WE HAD OUR CAR SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES. THE MECHNIC THAT TOLD US ABOUT THE RUST TOLD US IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 120K MILES AND WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME WAS BADLY CORRODED THROUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THREE HOURS AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE FRAME FRACTURED AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY LEFT AND RIGHT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE SLOWLY TO HIS RESIDENCE. ONCE THE CONTACT ARRIVED HOME AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED THROUGH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO COATING ON THE FRAME, WHICH CAUSED THE METAL TO CORRODE BADLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO DAVENPORT TOYOTA WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRAME WAS CORRODED THROUGH AND THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 186,000.

THE TRUNK LATCH/HANDLE/LOCK. I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED 3 TIMES BY A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THERE'S IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND THERE'S NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. THE LAST TIME THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP I. AUSTIN TEXAS REPLACES IT I HAD A 12 MONTH WARRANTY. IN EXACTLY 14 MONTHS THE SAME THING OCCURRED AGAIN! THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO SAY THE LEAST AND I AM TIRED OF PAYING 600 (PARTS/LABOR) TO REPAIR, WHEN TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM! NOTE: WHEN THE HANDLE BREAKS THERE IS NO ACCESS TO THE SPARE TIRE BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO LIFE THE TRUNK TO ACCESS THE SPARE TIME. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TWICE SCORN TIRE ISSUES BECAUSE THE SPARE COULD NOT BE ACCESSED. THE LAST OCCURRENCE I WAS STRANDED ON SIDE OF THE ROAD AT 2AM.

2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA LIMITED 4X4 FAILED MASSACHUSETTS INSPECTION THIS MONTH FOR A SEVERELY RUSTED FRAME WITH SEVERE PERFORATION. ADDITIONALLY, THE REAR SUSPENSION AND TRAILING ARMS MAY BREAK OFF AT ANY TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED AND HAD A COATING APPLIED SEVERAL YEARS AGO - THIS ONLY MASKED THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS ALWAYS GARAGED. THE ENGINE AND BODY OF THE VEHICLE ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. THE VEHICLE HAS 300,000 MILES AND RUNS WELL. THE TOYOTA DEALER DEEMED THE VEHICLE "NOT REPAIRABLE." THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO DEEMED UNSAFE AND ADVISED TO TAKE OFF THE ROAD.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, A RATTLING NOISE WAS HEARD UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT CHECKED UNDERNEATH AND FOUND THAT THE RACK AND PINION BRACKET WAS FRACTURED AND DETACHED FROM THE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER (BAY RIDGE TOYOTA IN BAY RIDGE, NEW YORK, 718-439-3737) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PART OF THE VEHICLE'S FRAME WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND THE RACK AND PINION BRACKET WAS DETACHED FROM THE ACTUAL FRAME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRAME WAS REPLACED IN MARCH OF 2013 BY THE SAME DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 194,000.

I TOOK MY SEQUOIA TO THE DEALER FOR IT'S REGULAR SERVICE. I WAS CALLED AND TOLD THAT THERE IS A 50 CENT SIZE HOLE IN MY FRAME (PASSAGER SIDE) I WAS TOLD TOYOTA HAD A NIGHT MARE WITH MANY OF THERE SEQUOIAS HAVING HAD THE FRAME REPLACED. HE SAID ACCORDING TO TOYOTA MINE WAS RECALLED AND SPRAYED WITH SOME TYPE OF SPRAY OVER THE ENTIRE FRAME. I TOLD HIM THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE SINCE I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND I HAD IT DURING THE TIME HE REFERENCED AND TOYOTA NEVER CONTACTED ME ABOUT THIS ISSUE,NOR DID THEY SPRAY IT. FOR IF THEY DID YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO TELL IT ALL OVER THE UNDER-BODY BECAUSE OF THE OVER SPRAY. THERE IN NOTHING UNDER THE BODY EXCEPT A RUSTED FAULTY FRAME. I CONTACTED TOYOTA THEY SAID THE SAME AS THE DEALER AND THAT IF MY SUV HAD BEEN A YEAR NEWER THEY WOULD PUT A NEW FRAME ON IT, EVEN THOUGH THEY USE THE EXACT SAME FRAME. TOYOTA KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING HERE.

OUR VEHICLE WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE BY A TOYOTA DEALER DUE TO AN EXCESSIVELY RUSTED FRAME THAT HAS PREMATURELY LOST ITS INTEGRITY. THE "LIMITED SERVICE" CAMPAIGN THAT WAS IMPLEMENTED BY TOYOTA ON OUR CAR (1/9/2013) WAS INEFFECTIVE IN PREVENTING THE DISINTEGRATION OF THE FRAME OF THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THE FRAME ON MY VEHICLE WAS ALREADY KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE AND IT WAS RECALLED BY TOYOTA FOR REPLACEMENT ON THE TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHY THEN HASN'T TOYOTA RECALLED THE VERY SAME FRAME ON THE TOYOTA SEQUOIA ON ACCOUNT OF A KNOWN DEFECTIVE AND UNSAFE FRAME?
FRAME IS ROTTED SO BAD THAT AXLE ROD SEPERATED FROM THE FRAME. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE IT HOME AS IT IS EXTREAMILY UNSAFE. REAR AXLE COULD FALL OFF THE VEHICLE. FOUND THIS OUT WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC FOR TIRE SERVICE

I CHECKED WITH TOYOTA AND THE VIN ON MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN FOR FRAME REPLACEMENT, BUT MY CAR DID GET A CORROSION RESISTANT TREATMENT FROM TOYOTA IN 2012. IT IS VERY CLEAR FROM THE PICTURES OF MY FRAME AND THE INSPECTION REPORT FROM THE TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER THAT THE CONDITION OF THE FRAME MAKES THE CAR UNSAFE (IT WON'T PASS INSPECTION). THEREFORE, THE CORROSION RESISTANCE TREATMENT DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND ASKED THEM TO RECONSIDER MY CAR FOR THE FRAME REPLACEMENT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN EXPIRED IN 2015. THE FRAME ON THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. TOYOTA WOULDN'T TELL ME WHY SOME OF THE TOYOTA SEQUOIAS RECEIVED THE FRAME REPLACEMENT AND WHY OTHERS DIDN'T, BUT MY CAR (AND PROBABLY MANY OTHERS) AREN'T DRIVABLE AND AREN'T SAFE WITH THE CURRENT FRAMES. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA FOR MY '03 SEQUOIA LIMITED AND TOOK IT TO KOLOSSO TOYOTA (APPLETON, WI) FOR FRAME INSPECTION AND APPLICATION OF A MATERIAL THAT PREVENTS CORROSION, DUE TO A RECALL, IN 2014. I CALLED KOLOSSO TO SCHEDULE MY TRUCK TO BE SEEN WELL BEFORE THE DUE DATE OF 7-31-14, IN JUNE 2014. KOLOSSO SAID IT HAD TO ORDER THE SPECIAL "KIT" TO APPLY MATERIAL TO MY FRAME AND SCHEDULED MY INSPECTION AND APPLICATION FOR EARLY AUGUST 2014, AFTER 7-31-14 (DUE DATE). THEY SAID THE KIT WOULDN'T ARRIVE UNTIL AUGUST AND THERE WAS NOTHING ANYONE COULD DO. EVERYTHING WOULD BE FINE BECAUSE THE KIT WOULDN'T EVEN BE AVAILABLE UNTIL AUGUST 2014. I RECEIVED A FRANTIC CALL FROM KOLOSSO ON 7-13-14 WHILE I WAS WORKING LITERALLY 2 HOURS AWAY IN MILWAUKEE, WI THAT MY TRUCK HAD TO BE INSPECTED IN APPLETON THAT DAY IN ORDER FOR THE RECALL TO BE VALID. KOLOSSO SAID IT WAS THEIR FAULT FOR SCHEDULING ME IN AUGUST 2014 BUT TOYOTA SUDDENLY DEEMED 7-31-14 THE ABSOLUTE DEADLINE FOR THE RECALL. SO I HAD TO LEAVE WORK UNEXPECTEDLY TO DRIVE 2 HOURS AWAY FOR INSPECTION. AN EXTREME INCONVENIENCE! THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT COMPENSATE ME IN ANY WAY FOR MY UPSET. THEY PLACED ALL BLAME SQUARELY ON TOYOTA. I SAID, AS A CUSTOMER, I HAD DONE EVERYTHING THE DEALERSHIP SAID AND I HAD DONE NOTHING WRONG. EVERY INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HAS BROKEN AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER. I HAVE HAD ALL OF THEM REPLACED AT LEAST ONCE (AT A COST OF $175.00 PER HANDLE) AND I HAVE TO REPLACE ONE FOR A SECOND TIME. THE HANDLES ARE MADE OF PLASTIC THAT CRACKS EASILY AND EVENTUALLY BREAKS. ALL OF THE HANDLES WERE BROKEN DURING THE COURSE OF NORMAL USE. NO UNDUE OR EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS EXERTED WHEN THE HANDLES WERE BROKEN. WHEN THE HANDLES ARE BROKEN, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE UNLESS SOMEONE OPENS THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. IF MY FAMILY AND I WERE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND NEEDED TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE QUICKLY, THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT IN TIME. I JUST PURCHASED AN 03 TOYOTA SEQUOIA AND WAS UNAWARE OF A PROBLEM THAT IS VERY KNOWN BY MANY SEQUOIA OWNERS. I WAS LET KNOWN ABOUT THE SEVERE UNDERCARRIAGE RUST PROBLEM THESE TRUCKS HAVE BY SOMEONE AT A GAS STATION WHO OWNED ONE AND HAD TO GET RID OF THERE'S BECAUSE THEY WERE SCARED FOR THE SAFETY OF THERE FAMILY WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK. WHEN I LOOKED AT MY TRUCKS UNDERCARRIAGE I COULD NOT BELIEVE THE AMOUNT OF RUST THAT I SAW. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND SAW SOME OF THE PICTURES OF OTHER SEQUOIA OWNERS AND WAS SHOCKED AT WHAT I SAW. ANOTHER THING THAT SHOCKED ME WAS THAT PEOPLE WERE SAYING THAT WHEN THEY WENT BACK TO TOYOTA AND TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEM THEY SAID THAT THERE'S NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO. UNTIL SOMEONE GETS KILLED! THE TOYOTA DEALER, BODY SHOP, AND INDEPENDENT INSURANCE APPRAISER SAY THAT THIS WAS NOT CAUSED BY AN ACCIDENT OR OTHER IMPACT. THEY SAID THE FRAME HAD METAL FATIGUE AND SIMPLY FAILED. THIS POSES A SERIOUS HAZARD IF A LIGHTLY DRIVEN VEHICLE SUCH AS MINE, WELL-CARED FOR AND DRIVEN IN A SUBURBAN SETTING, THE FRAME WOULD CRACK IN 8 YEARS. I SAW ONLINE THAT THERE WAS A FRAME RECALL FOR 2001-2003 TUNDRAS AND SEQUOIAS (WHICH SHARE THE SAME FRAME). THE RECALL WAS FOR ONLY 18 STATES WHERE THERE IS HEAVY SNOW, CAUSING THE FRAMES TO RUST THROUGH. TOYOTA WAS FORCED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRAME. I BELIEVE THAT THE FRAMES WERE FAULTY FROM A MANUFACTURING DEFECT FOR THIS TO OCCUR. 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA LIMITED REAR HATCH HANDLE BREAKS OFF. CAN'T OPEN REAR LIFTGATE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM SINCE 1999 WITH TOYOTA. THERE ARE SEVERAL TOYOTA FORUMS WITH OVER 500 COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY, THE HANDLE PART IS INFERIOR IT IS MADE OUT OF PLASTIC. THE PART HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED SINCE 1999 AND IS STILL USED. MOST SEQUOIA OWNERS HAVE HAD TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED MORE THAN ONE TIME. THE PROBLEM STARTS FROM WATER POOLING IN THE HATCH AREA UNDER THE LIFTGATE. AS A RESULT, THE LOCK /HATCH HANDLE AREA CORRODES/RUSTS PUTS TENSION ON THE HANDLE AND THEN EVENTUALLY BREAKS. THE PART FAILS WITHOUT WARNING EXCEPT THAT THE LATCH MAY BE HARD TO OPEN FOR QUITE AWHILE BEFORE COMPLETELY BREAKING. I HAVE A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA AND THE DOOR LOCK WAS VANDALIZED IN 2007 THE DOOR LOCK WAS OPENED AND THE WINDOWS DOWN. NOW IT HAPPENED AGAIN IN 2009 AND HOW IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS SEQUOIA CAME WITH FACTORY ALARM WHICH IS '!@#$% BECAUSE THE LOCK CAN BE OPEN SO EASY THEY JUST DETACH IT FROM THE DOOR SO EASY THAT YOU SEE IT BECAUSE THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN. I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER SEQUOIA OF TOYOTA. WHAT SECURITY DO I HAVE WITH THIS LOCKS. IT IS SO SIMPLE TO OPEN. I WOULD LIKE AN EXPLANATION. WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND IS THAT HOW COME THEY OPEN THE DOOR AND THE WINDOWS GO DOWN I HAVE TO START THE CAR FOR THE WINDOWS TO COME DOWN. THIS WAS AT THE MORNING. IMAGING AT NIGHT. I COULD NOT FIND A WEBSITE TO COMPLAIN JUST YOUR SITE. IT SEEMS THAT THE DOOR LOCK IT NOT ATTACH TO THE DOOR IT IS OVER THE DOOR DON'T YOU THINK THIS IS THE CHEAPEST WAY FOR A SEQUOIA TOYOTA IT COSTS A LOT OF MONEY AND I PAID FOR NOTHING. THEN AT ABOUT 56,000 MILES THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF. IF I WAS TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT GOD FORBID, I WOULD BE UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH PREVENTED HIM FROM EXITING THE VEHICLE. WITHIN A YEAR, THE REMAINING FOUR DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN, INCLUDING THE HANDLE ON THE HATCHBACK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER; THIS WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT TO THE MANUFACTURER. AS OF DECEMBER 5, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE 35,000.

MY 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA'S INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES, 3 OF THEM, ARE MADE OF PLASTIC AND WERE BROKEN AFTER A YEAR OF USAGE. WITH THE HOT WEATHER HERE IN FLORIDA, THESE DOOR HANDLES BECOMES WEAK, EASILY CRACKED AND THEN BROKEN. THIS IS GOING TO BE AN EMERGENCY ISSUE BECAUSE WE OPEN OUR DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE. WITH THE HEAVY AND LARGE DOORS OF THESE SEQUOIAS, THE PLASTIC HANDLES ARE NOT HEAVY DUTY ENOUGH MATERIAL LIKE METAL TO WITHSTAND THE OPEN AND CLOSE OPERATION OF THESE HEAVY DOORS. THESE ARE DEFECTIVE OR BELOW QUALITY TO USE PLASTIC MATERIAL FOR THESE DOORS. PLEASE HELP IN CORRECTING THESE MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I OWNED SEVERAL TOYOTAS LIKE A 1987 TOYOTA COROLLA,1991TOYOTA CAMRY, 1997 TOYOTA AVALON AND A 1999 TOYOTA TACOMA...ALL OF WHICH I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BECAUSE THEY'RE MADE OF METAL. REAR WINDOW BEGAN OPERATING ONLY OFF AND ON OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. FINALLY IT QUIT WORKING COMPLETELY IN 2007. FORTUNATELY IT WAS CLOSED, SO OWNER JUST DIDN'T USE UNTIL HAVING IT FIXED ALONG WITH REAR DOOR HATCH. A NEW POWER MOTOR ASSEMBLY WAS INSTALLED AT OWNERS EXPENSE. TRAC,VSC, BRAKE LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON AND THEN GOING OUT. THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT INVOLVED THEM COMING ON DURING A TURN INTO TRAFFIC AT WHICH TIME ALL POWER WAS LOST NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. DEALER TREATED THIS AS 2 DIFFERENT PROBLEMS:AN INDUCTION SERVICE WAS PERFORMED FOR THE "HESITATION" AT MY EXPENSE, AND A BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET AND ASSEMBLY WERE INSTALLED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO GO OFF AND ON FROM TIME TO TIME, BUT THE CAR DID NOT LOSE POWER AGAIN AFTER THIS "FIX".THE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO COME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL IN AUGUST 2006 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND VCS/TRAC LIGHTS CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OUT. THIS TIME, MY DEALER REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSOR AT MY EXPENSE. NOW, WITH 70,000 MILES ON 9-26-07 THE VSC/TRAC & CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROAD AND WILL NOT GO OUT ON TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AS THEY SOMETIMES DID IN THE PAST. I BELIEVE AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON VARIOUS INTERNET SITES SOME SORT OF ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN AT TOYOTA'S EXPENSE. I AM ALSO FILING A REPORT ABOUT THE NEW REAR WINDOW MOTOR AND HATCH RELEASE HANDLE I HAD TO REPLACE IN JULY ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH ALSO IS MENTIONED IN MANY REPORTS I'VE READ ON THE INTERNET. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE FROM SUNNYVALE TOYOTA IN OCT OF 2002. IT IS A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. FROM THE TIME I REACHED HOME FOUND MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. START WITH HUB CAPS NOT SEATED CORRECTLY, DEFECTIVE ROOF RACKS, ENTRY DOOR MOLDING WITH INKED PRINT ON THEM. WENT ON TO A DEFECTIVE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR, PUNGENT AWFUL SMELL FROM THE AC, DEFECTIVE RADIO/ CD CHANGER. BRAKES ARE SPONGY AND DON'T RESPOND WELL. IF YOU PUMP IT ONCE IT WORKS WELL. THE VEHICLE REPEATEDLY VEERS TO THE RIGHT. THEY HAVE CHECKED IT AT LEAST 15 TIMES. THERE IS HAIR IN THE PAINT. I WENT THROUGH THE NCDS PROCESS AND ENDED UP WITH A JUDGMENT TO HAVE THEM REPAIR THE VEERING PROBLEM AND AIR CONDITIONING. TOYOTA NEVER COMPLIED AND NCDS CLOSED THE CASE WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I WORKED WITH TOYOTA AND THEY FINALLY WORKED ON THE TROUBLE. I GOT A NEW SET OF TIRES BUT THE VEERING RETURNED. WHAT HAPPENS IS THE TIRES WEAR MORE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE. AS YOU ROTATE THE TROUBLE GOES AWAY UNTIL THE TIRE WEARS AND THE PROBLEM BECOMES MORE PRONOUNCES. NOW THE TIRES ARE BALD AND NCDS IS GIVING ME TROUBLE TO REOPEN THE CASE OR STAND BEHIND THE ARBITRATORS JUDGMENT. NOW EVEN THE DOOR MOLDING ARE COMING OFF EVEN WITH NO DAMAGE. *JB

TOOK VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP, WHO DID NOT HAVE PART IN STOCK. THE PART ITSELF WAS PLASTIC, NO METAL REINFORCEMENT. HOWEVER, CONSUMERS FELT THE PART SHOULD BE METAL. VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. CONSUMER DID CONTACT TOYOTA'S COMPLAINT LINE AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE COMPANY. *AK
