Swollen lug nuts. Won’t fit any wrench. Affects ability to remove a tire in case of needing to repair a flat tire.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE GOING AROUND A CURVE, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SLOWED ABRUPTLY WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER COLONIAL TOYOTA (2600 W PIKE RD, INDIANA, PA 15701, (724) 471-4287) SUGGESTED THAT THE ISSUE MAY BE DUE TO A BROKEN WIRE OR A DIRTY SENSOR. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR WHEEL HUBS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED AND THE SPEED SENSORS WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT (CAR WITH SWERVE LINES) STARTED COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY WHILE TURNING ON HIGHWAYS ETC. (BUT NOT WHEN ANY RISK OF TIRE SLIPPING). THEN VSC LIGHT ALSO CAME ON AND ALARM SOMETIMES SOUNDED. VISIT TO OUR OWN MECHANIC, NO PROBLEMS FOUND. IN THE LAST 2 YEARS THE ABS SYSTEM HAS ACTIVATED (DAILY) IT UNEXPECTEDLY APPLIES THE BRAKES WHILE IN MOTION. IT IS ON SPECIFIC TYPES OF CURVE AND WHILE DRIVING AT LEAST 30MPH, BUT HAS DONE AT 35, 55, 70 MPH, ON SLIGHT OR MEDIUM TURNS (NOT REAL SHARP TURNS), GOING UPHILL OR DOWNHILL AND LEFT OR RIGHT. TOOK MY MECHANIC FOR A RIDE WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER HOOKED UP, IT DID THE ABS BRAKING, WARNING LIGHT, AND BEEPING 5 TIMES BUT COMPUTER SHOWED NO CODES. SUGGESTED RESETTING YAW WHICH WE DID, IT DID NOT HELP. SUGGESTED CALLING TOYOTA, THEY WERE NO HELP, SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT PROBLEM AND MY MECHANIC PROBABLY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO READ THE COMPUTER. WHEN ABS ACTIVATES IT'S VERY DANGEROUS - THINKING ABOUT DEACTIVATING ENTIRE VSC SYSTEM. I BELIEVE THE RACK AND PINION MAY PLAY A ROLE, THERE ARE RATTLE AND BUMP SOUNDS, PERHAPS A LOOSE SUSPENSION IS THE CULPRIT, THAT IS OUR NEXT OPTION. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED STRUTS, FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS, ALL NEW TIRES, HAD IT ALIGNED, DID NEW BRAKE PADS, AND ROTORS. ABSOLUTELY FED UP WITH THIS PROBLEM! *TR

I WAS DRIVING HOME, NOTHING HAPPENED, THE LIGHTS JUST CAME ON. NO WARNING SOUND, NOTHING TO INDICATE THERE WAS A PROBLEM, MY CAR SEEMS TO DRIVE JUST FINE, BUT THE LIGHTS WON'T GO OFF, AND I HAVE 3 KIDS THAT I TAKE AND PICK UP FROM SCHOOL

THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT NHTSA WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR DISTRIBUTING THE RECALL PARTS AND THAT THE NHTSA HOTLINE SHOULD BE CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. CORROSION ON OEM 17' ALUMINUM WHEEL RIMS CAUSED AIR TO SLOWLY LEAK OUT BETWEEN RIM & TIRE. LEAKING OCCURRED OVER SEVERAL DAYS WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OR BEING DRIVEN. TIRES WERE RE-MOUNTED THREE TIMES TO CORRECT PROBLEM. TIRE SHOP HAD TO CLEAN & THEN POLISH RIM MATING SURFACE TO REMOVE CORROSION TO GET TIRES TO SEAT & HOLD AIR.

RECENTLY PURCHASE THIS VAN AND IT HAS SEVERE CORROSION ON THE ALUMINUM WHEELS AND AIR SEEMS TO BE SLOWLY LEAKING FROM AT LEAST ONE OF THEM. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM IF IT ACCELERATES AS ONE TRAVELS DOWN THE ROAD.
ALL FOUR WHEELS SHOW EXCESSIVE CORROSION. TOYOTA SAYS THIS IS NORMAL AND NOT COVERED BY ANY RECALL OR WARRANTY. CORROSION MAY BE SIMPLY COSMETIC, BUT OUR CONCERN IS THAT IT WILL BECOME STRUCTURAL OVER TIME CAUSING EITHER WHEEL FAILURE OR LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE. SEE PHOTOS.

WHILE STATIONARY, BOTH A WHEEL STUD (DURING TIRE ROTATION), AND THE OIL PUMP TENSIONER BOLT HOLE (DURING SERVICE) BROKE. DEALER TOLD US EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS NOT USED. I BELIEVE INFERIOR METAL USED IN MANUFACTURING.

HAVE AN 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WITH 17" FACTORY ORIGINAL ALLOY ALUMINUM WHEELS AND ALL 4 WHEELS HAVE THEIR PROTECTIVE COATINGS BUBBLING UP FROM UNDERNEATH AND PEELING OFF. EVEN THOUGH THE VAN IS NEARLY 9 YEARS OLD NOW, IT ONLY HAS 72000 MILES ON IT. BUT EVEN SO, IT HAS HAD THE BUBBLING UP COATING ISSUE FOR 4 OR 5 YEARS ALREADY ACCORDING TO THE LAST OWNER I BOUGHT IT FROM. LOOKS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA SIENNAS WITH THE 17" ALLOY WHEELS IN THE AREA HERE IN THE UPPER MIDWEST AS MOST I'VE SEEN HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. CONCERNED THAT THE NOW EXPOSED METAL WILL CORRODE QUICKLY AND THEN AT SOME POINT DEVELOP INTO A SAFETY CONCERN. THIS VAN IS A HEAVY VEHICLE COMPARED TO REGULAR CARS ON THE ROAD SO I WOULD THINK PROBLEMS WOULD ARISE QUICKLY IF THERE WERE A WEAKNESS TO DEVELOP IN THE CORRODING METALS. I'M CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING AIR LOSS IN ONLY 1 TIRE/WHEEL. A LOCAL TIRE SHOP FINDS NO LEAKS IN THE TIRE OR VALVE STEM AND HAS TRIED DRESSING THE BEADS WITH SEALANT. THEY THINK WHEN THE WEIGHT OF THE VAN IS ON THE TIRE/WHEEL IT'S THEN LEAKING AIR OUT SOMEWHERE. LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER TOLD ME TOYOTA HAS NO INFORMATION ON ADDRESSING MY PARTICULAR PROBLEM LET ALONE RECOGNIZE OR STATE TO CUSTOMERS THAT THERE IS ANY KIND OF KNOWN REPEATING PATTERN OF FAILURE OF THE FINISH ON THE WHEELS ON NEWER VEHICLES MADE IN THE LAST 10 YRS.

I WAS SENT A RECALL NOTICE BY TOYOTA, INDICATING THAT THE "SPARE TIRE ASSEMBLY MAY CORRODE AND DETACH". I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON DECEMBER 19, 2014, AND THEY REMOVED THE SPARE TIRE AND PLACED IT IN THE VEHICLE IN A PLASTIC BAG. THEY DID NOT FIX IT PROPERLY. THE SPARE TIRE IS NOW OCCUPYING A LOT OF SPACE THAT I NEED FOR CARGO. THEY TOLD ME I WOULD RECEIVE A LETTER WHEN THE PROPER REMEDY WAS AVAILABLE. I CALLED TOYOTA THIS MORNING (MAY 21, 2015) AFTER WAITING FIVE MONTHS FOR THE LETTER. THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE THAT I SPOKE WITH SAID THAT THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE FOR THE REMEDY "IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS YEAR" BUT SHE COULD NOT EVEN GIVE ME THE MONTH IN WHICH THIS WOULD HAPPEN. I THINK IT IS TOO MUCH TO HAVE TO CARRY MY SPARE TIRE AROUND IN MY CARGO SPACE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM FASTER. THIS IS NOT THE VEHICLE'S DRIVE TRAIN. THIS IS A METAL HANGER FOR A SPARE TIRE, IT SHOULDN'T BE THAT DIFFICULT.

I WANT TO KNOW WHY TOYOTA IS DRAGGING THEIR FEET GETTING THE SPARE TIRE BRACKET AND CABLE CORRECTED. I WILL NOT HAVE MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WITHOUT A MEANS TO REPLACE A FLAT TIRE WHEN THEY ARE TRAVELING. THE FIX IS SIMPLE NEW MECHANISM WITH STAINLESS STEEL CABLE AND ASSOCIATED HARDWARE. THE OFFER TO REMOVE THE TIRE AND PLACE THAT IN THE TRUNK IS AN INSULT AS IS NOT TO CARRY IT AND CALL TOYOTA IF THEY HAVE A FLAT. ALL FOUR ALLOY WHEELS ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE THE PAINT BUBBLING AND CHIPPING OFF LEAVING THE WHEEL EXTERIOR EXPOSED TO WEATHER AND FURTHER CORROSION. UNDERNEATH THE CHIPPED PAINT THE ALLOY IS CORRODING, POTENTIALLY COMPROMISING THE STRENGTH AND OVERALL INTEGRATY OF THE WHEELS. I HAVE EXPERIENCED AIR LOSS IN BOTH FRONT TIRES OVER THE COURSE OF JUST A FEW DAYS. MY LOCAL TIRE SHOP CHECKED BOTH FRONT TIRES FOR PUNCTURES BUT FOUND NOTHING. THEY THEN REMOVED THE TIRES FROM THE RIMS AND INDICATED THE RIMS HAD CORRODED AROUND THE OUTER DIAMETER OF THE RIM WHERE THE TIRE BEAD IS SUPPOSED TO SEAL. THEY CLEANED THE CORROSION FROM THE RIM INTERIOR AND APPLIED A BEAD SEALING COMPOUND THAT FILLS IN THE CORRODED AND PITTED BEAD AREA OF THE RIM ALLOWING THE TIRE BEAD TO SEAL AND HOLD AIR. WHEN IT COMES TIME TO ROTATE THE TIRES THE TECH PERSON INDICATED THAT I SHOULD ALSO HAVE THEM SEAL THE TIRES PLACED ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AS THEY WOULD PROBABLY START LOOSING AIR AS WELL WITH THE ADDED WEIGHT OF THE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MODEL OF THE TOYOTA SIENNA. THUS FAR,TOYOTA WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE WHICH SEEMS TO ME TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

TOYOTA SIENNA RECALL FOR SPARE TIRE CARRIER MOVED THE SPARE TIRE TO THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT OF VEHICLE. THE TIRE WAS REMOVED FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, PLACED IN A BAG, AND PLACED IN THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT. THE TIRE WAS NOT SECURED BY SERVICE AND IS FREE TO VIBRATE, SHAKE, AND ROLL WHEN TURNING. THIS WAS TO BE A TEMPORARY FIX, WITH THE PERMANENT SOLUTION TO BE DETERMINED BY TOYOTA. IT HAS BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS FROM THE RELEASE DATE OF THE RECALL AND THERE IS STILL NO PERMANENT SOLUTION, AND THERE IS NO ETA FOR A FIX AT THIS TIME, PER THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED AS IT IS LIMITING THE AVAILABLE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SPACE, AND THE MOVEMENT OF THE UNSECURED SPARE TIRE IS DISTRACTING. ALL FOUR WHEELS HAVE SEVERE BUBBLING AND PEELING PAINT. SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR, I HAVE ALWAYS GONE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER FOR WORK AND THEY HAVE NOT PAID ANY ATTENTION TO THIS COMPLAINT. WHEN I DECIDED TO HAVE SOME WORK DONE WITH MY HUSBAND'S MECHANIC HE RAISED THE ISSUE. HE IS CONCERNED WITH THE RUST THAT IS OCCURRING AND WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR OVER TIME WILL EVENTUALLY EFFECT OUR ABILITY TO PLACE NEW TIRES ON THE CAR AS THE RUST ENCROACHES INTO THE RIMS.

I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WITH MOST RECENTLY THE POWER PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR THAT IS BROKEN AND DOES NOT OPEN OR CLOSE. THE DEALER FT. MYERS TOYOTA SAID THE PARTS WERE ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND MAY TAKE MONTHS TO GET THE PARTS TO FIX. THEY DID SAY THEY WOULD COVER UNDER WARRANTY. SECONDLY, MY STEERING ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT 80,000 MILES BECAUSE OF LEAKING FLUID AND I HAD TO PAY THE LABOR TO FIX. LASTLY, ALL 4 OF THE TIRE RIMS ON THE CAR HAVE PEELING, BUBBLING AND CHIPPING PAINT THAT IS EXPOSING THE METAL RIM. IT MAY CAUSE FURTHER CORROSION TO THE RIMS AND CAUSE A SAFETY PROBLEM TO THE WHEELS. GERMAIN TOYOTA IN NAPLES, FLA WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR WOULD NOT HELP WITH THE RIMS. FT. MYERS TOYOTA WHERE I GET THE CAR SERVICED TOLD ME ABOUT THE NATIONAL BACK ORDER PROBLEM AND ALSO CHARGED ME FOR THE DEFECTIVE STEERING ASSEMBLY WHICH I THOUGHT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THEIR LIFETIME POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. SEVERE CORROSION ON ALLOY WHEELS ALLOWS AIR TO LEAK FROM TIRES. THIS RESULTS IS ALMOST CONSTANT LOW TIRE PRESSURE, UNDUE WEAR ON TIRES, AND SAFETY ISSUE. ISSUE BEGAN WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY 14000 MILES. DEALER REFINISHED TWO WHEELS UNDER WARRANTY BUT REFUSED TO REDO THE OTHER WHEELS OR THE SAME WHEELS WHEN THEY QUICKLY CORRODED AGAIN. ONGOING ISSUE VEHICLE NOW HAS 66000 MILES. NO ACCIDENT OR FATALITIES, BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE RAPIDLY DETERIORATING CONDITION OF ALL FOUR 17" ALLOY WHEELS (PAINTED ALUMINUM). CORROSION IS PROGRESSING SINCE THE TIME I FIRST NOTICED IT STARTING (APPROXIMATE INCIDENT DATE). CURRENT MILEAGE IS 74,000. THE PAINT IS BLISTERING STARTING AT THE INSIDE EDGE OF EACH WHEEL OPENING. IT IS QUITE SEVERE AND I AM CONCERNED THAT IF THIS IS NOT ADDRESSED, THE CORROSION MIGHT PROPAGATE A CRACK IN ONE OF THE WHEEL SPOKES. I HAVE ANOTHER CAR WITH MORE THAN TWICE THE MILEAGE WITH SIMILARLY PAINTED WHEELS WITH NO CORROSION AFTER 36 YEARS. THIS VEHICLE HAS SEEN THREE TIMES THE NUMBER OF WINTERS WITH SALTED ROADS. MY 1986 PORSCHE 944 WASN'T WASHED IN THE WINTER ANY MORE FREQUENTLY THAN THE TOYOTA. IT APPEARS THIS PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA IS SO PREVALENT THAT THEY PREFER DISGRUNTLED CUSTOMERS OVER RESPONSIBLY ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 149,000. UPDATED 10/11/12*LJ THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE NEEDED A MAIN HARNESS AND DRIVER SEAT AIR BAG HARNESS. HE WAS GIVEN A PRICE OF $ 3,169.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. ALSO, THE ALLOY WHEELS ALLOY WHEELS WERE CORRODED. TOYOTA INFORMED THE CONSUMER, HE MUST HAVE WASHED THE WHEELS WITH THE WRONG SOAP OR TOO MUCH WINTER SALT ON THE ROADS CAUSED THE PROBLEM.

WITHIN 1 YEAR OF PURCHASING VEHICLE NEW THE WHEELS STARTED TO SHOW SIGNS CORROSION IN THE FORM OF BUBBLING OF THE FINISH. WE CONTACTED OUR LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS DUE TO ROAD SALT AND ME NOT CLEANING THEM PROPERLY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THEM. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER SHORTLY BEFORE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT AND AGAIN WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS OUR FAULT AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ONE LAST TIME AFTER THE WARRANTY AND WERE TOLD SINCE THE WARRANTY WAS UP THEY COULD DO NOTHING FOR US. ALL 4 WHEELS ARE NOW CORRODED SEVERELY. LARGE CHUNKS OF PAINT ROUTINELY FALL OFF DURING WASHING. I'M WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY AT THIS POINT AND PLAN TO REPLACE THE RIMS AT MY OWN EXPENSE. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THE WHEELS WERE SPINNING WHEN WE TRIED TO DRIVE AFTER STOPPING AT THE STOP SIGN, AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, OR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION, BECAUSE IT PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM MERGING INTO OR ESCAPING FROM HEAVY TRAFFIC OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA. IT HAPPENED IN ALL KINDS OF WEATHER AND ROAD SURFACE CONDITIONS. I AM A VERY CAREFUL DRIVER; I SPEND A LOT OF TIME DRIVING MY THREE YOUNG CHILDREN. I NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT AND I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SPINNING TIRES ON ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE DRIVEN. WE CONTACTED OUR DEALERSHIP AND TOYOTA COMPANY. THEIR FIRST RESPONSE WAS THAT IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. AFTER OUR INTERVENTION THE DEALERSHIP AGREED TO DRIVE TEST OUR CAR. THE TEST WAS PERFORMED BY ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES (NOT CLEAR IF HE HAD ANY CAR SAFETY INSPECTION TRAINING). HE TOOK OUR CAR FOR A SHORT DRIVE AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD, ALONE, IN THE PERFECT WEATHER, REPORTING BACK THAT HE DID NOT NOTICE ANY PROBLEM. THE TEST DRIVE WAS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. WE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR USUALLY WHEN THERE IS MORE THAN ONE PERSON IN THE CAR, DURING THE RAIN ETC; IN OTHER WORDS, IN AVERAGE DRIVING CONDITIONS. SINCE THE TEST WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN, MANY TIMES. I BELIEVE WE ARE NOT THE ONLY OWNERS OF SIENNA, WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I OBSERVED IT SEVERAL TIMES ON THE STREET, WITH OTHER SIENNAS.
