The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the liftgate fell on him as he was loading items into the trunk of the vehicle. The contact moved out of the way as the liftgate proceeded to close independently without warning. The contact was unable to stop the liftgate from independently closing. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.

DASH BOARD CRACKING.

I PURCHASED THIS TOYOTA BRAND NEW IN LATE 2007 AND IT WAS DELIVERED IN EARLY 2008. IT WAS MODIFIED BY BRAUNABILITY TO BE WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE. THIS MEANS THE ORIGINAL FLOOR WAS CUT OUT AND A NEW SUB-FLOOR WAS WELDED IN ITS PLACE TO ACCOMMODATE THE WHEELCHAIR. I NOTICED A LOT OF PREMATURE RUST ON THE EXTERIOR MODIFIED SUB-FLOOR IN 2016 I CONTACTED BRAUNABILITY WITH MY CONCERNS ONLY TO BE DISMISSED BY THEM BECAUSE THEY CLAIMED THE VAN WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I WAS PROACTIVE AND TOOK THE VAN TO A LOCAL BRAUNABILITY DEALER WHERE THE VAN WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED TO SANDBLAST THE EXTERIOR UNDERSIDE AND REPAIR EXTENSIVE RUST DAMAGE AND UNDERCOATED THE REPAIRS. THIS WAS DONE AT MY EXPENSE AND I PAID APPROXIMATELY $7K DOLLARS. WELL RECENTLY I HAD TO MAKE A REPAIR ON THE INTERIOR OF THE VAN ONLY TO DISCOVER THE FLOOR IN THE INSIDE WAS ALSO ROTTING AWAY DUE TO RUST. THIS RUST IS ONLY OCCURRING ON THE METAL THAT BRAUNABILITY USED IN THEIR MODIFICATIONS. I CONTACTED BRAUNABILITY AGAIN TO RAISE MY CONCERNS ONLY TO BE DISMISSED AGAIN. THEY STUCK TO THEIR OUT OF WARRANTY ARGUMENT. THIS VAN HAS BEEN MAINTAIN IN A NEAR NEW CONDITION AND ALL THE ORIGINAL TOYOTA PARTS ARE IN NEAR NEW APPEARANCE BUT THE RUST IS ONLY ON BRAUNABILITY METAL. I ALSO KNOW OF 2 OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO DEALT WITH SIMILAR RUST ISSUE AND HAD TO TOTAL THEIR VANS DUE TO DAMAGE BEYOND REPAIR AND THEIR VANS WERE STILL OPERATIONAL ASIDE FROM RUST DAMAGE. THIS RUST WAS CAUGHT BY ME BECAUSE I AM VERY PARTICULAR ABOUT MAINTENANCE OF MY VAN AND KNOW RUST IS CANCER TO CARS. I NEVER EXPECTED THE RUST TO BE IN THE INTERIOR AS WELL ON A 10 YEAR OLD VAN WITH ONLY 105K MILES. THIS WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE IF BRAUNABILITY HAD TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE INADEQUATE METAL WORK. I PAID 40 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THESE MODIFICATION TO MY 07 TOYOTA SIENNA. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ROTTING. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF LEFT UNCHECKED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR CAME OFF OF THE TRACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED DUE TO THE DOOR NOT BEING ABLE TO BE SECURELY LATCHED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000.

I LEARNED OF A RECALL FOR MY CAR'S DASHBOARD. IT IS CRACKED. IT IS A 2007 THAT I BOUGHT FROM DICK DYER TOYOTA IN COLUMBIA, SC IN 2011. THEY NOW TELL ME THE RECALL HAS EXPIRED. BUT THIS MEANS THEY SOLD ME A CAR WITHOUT FIXING A KNOWN RECALL ISSUE. IT WAS NOT CRACKED IN 2011 BUT HAS BEEN CRACKED SINCE AROUND 2015 OR 2016. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW TO FIX THREE OTHER RECALL ISSUES. ALSO, A TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WAS BROKEN WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR BUT THE DEALERSHIP DENIED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD IT FIXED ON MY OWN. NOW ANOTHER HAS MALFUNCTIONED SO THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO, THE AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME. I DON'T KNOW TO WHICH AIRBAG IT PERTAINS.

2004-2010 TOYOTA SIENNA POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE WARRANTY EXTENSION ZTS CABLE ON MY 2007 MODEL BROKE AND RENDERS THE PASSENGER REAR SLIDING DOOR INOPERABLE AND IS NOT FULLY CLOSED. THE CONDITION HAPPENED WHILE LOADING MY 6 CHILDREN INTO THE VEHICLE, LUCKILY MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR, WHICH ISN'T FULLY SECURE IN THE CLOSED POSITION . THE ONLY OPERATIONAL PASSENGER DOOR IS ON DRIVER SIDE (STREET SIDE), MY CHILDREN HAVE TO ENTER/EXIT VEHICLE ON BUSY NYC STREET. I CALLED TOYOTA UNDER THE CABLE EXTENSION WARRANTY HOWEVER MY VEHICLE IS 9 MONTHS PAST THE CUTOFF. I CAN NOT AFFORD THE REPAIR BILL THAT COULD EXCEED 2K.. I WORRY FOR THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN SINCE THESE CABLES CAN SNAP AT ANYTIME RENDING THE DOOR IN THE OPEN POSITION. IF IN AN ACCIDENT MY PASSENGERS WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO EXIT VEHICLE QUICKLY. I FEEL TOYOTA SHOULD COVER THE REPAIR OF THEIR FAULTY SAFETY EQUIPMENT VIA A RECALL.

I CURRENTLY HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA WITH 130K MILES. MY CAR IS GOOD CONDITION AND HAS BEEN VERY RELIABLE OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. RECENTLY BOTH THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SLIDING DOORS STOPPED WORKING AND THE WIRE THAT IS PART OF THE DOOR MECHANISM POPPED AND IS NOW HANGING FROM THE BACK WINDOWS. I AM AT THIS TIME UNABLE TO OPEN EITHER DOOR AND THERE IS NO WAY TO MANUALLY OPEN THE DOORS. I HAVE CHILDREN AND THEY ARE HAVING TO CLIMB FROM THE FRONT TO THE READ. THERE WAS NO INDICATOR THAT THIS WAS BECOMING AN ISSUE. IT AS IF TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT ADDRESSING IT WITHOUT CHARGING OUTRAGEOUS PRICES. THE DEALER CLAIMED WEAR AND TERM, HOWEVER MY DOOR MAY BE OPENED AND CLOSED 1 TO 2 TIMES PER DAY, IF THAT. THE RESPONSE WAS VERY NONCHALANT AS IF WAS NOT A BIG DEAL. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE ISSUE AND MORE DISAPPOINTED IN THE RESPONSE FROM MY DEALER, WHOM I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH SINCE 1997. TOYOTA REALLY NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. IN APPROXIMATELY THE SUMMER OF 2012 (I DO NOT RECALL THE EXACT DATE),TOYOTA RECALLED THE SPARE TIRE SUSPENSION CABLE, BUT DID NOT HAVE A REPAIR AT THE TIME. I WAS INCONVENIENCED FOR MONTHS WITH THE SPARE TIRE IN THE BACK OF MY VAN. THE REPAIR WAS EVENTUALLY COMPLETED, HOWEVER, A RECALL FOR THE REPAIR WAS ISSUED IN THE SUMMER OF 2014. THE SPARE TIRE WAS REMOVED AND AGAIN PLACED IN THE BACK OF MY VAN. TOYOTA IS NOW STATING THAT THERE WILL BE NO REPAIR AVAILABLE UNTIL THE SUMMER OF 2015. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND NOT UNDERSTANDABLE. IT IS SIMPLY AN ATTACHMENT FOR THE SPARE TIRE. AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED WITH TOYOTA, AS WELL. I WAS PARALLEL PARKING, BACKING INTO A PARKING SPACE ON A LONG BRIDGE IN A DOWNTOWN/BUSY AREA. WHEN I TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR LIGHTLY TO BACK UP, MY VAN SUDDENLY LURCHED BACK (IN REVERSE), ACCELERATING SO QUICKLY I FELT LIKE I WAS IN A ROCKET SHIP BEING LIFTED INTO THE AIR. MY WHEEL WAS TURNED IN PREPARATION FOR BACKING INTO THE SPACE. AT A BREAKNECK SPEED, MY VAN ACCELERATED IN REVERSE, LURCHING UP A LARGE CONCRETE STEP (ALL 4 TIRES), SQUEALING ERRATICALLY. THEN IT CONTINUED ACROSS A WIDE SIDEWALK/PEDESTRIAN AREA, THE BUMPER HITTING THE BRIDGE, IMMEDIATELY KNOCKING ABOUT 20 FEET OF A CONCRETE RAILING FROM THE BRIDGE INTO THE RIVER BELOW. LUCKILY, MY WHEELS BASICALLY BOUNCED OFF THE BOTTOM PORTION OF THE BRIDGE, WHICH WAS SECURED BY A LARGE CONCRETE BLOCK AT THE BASE OF THE BRIDGE. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN ABOUT 1 SECOND... IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG. THE FIRST THING I TRIED WHEN THIS HAPPENED WAS HIT THE BRAKES. THEY DIDN'T MOVE. IT WAS LIKE THEY WERE LOCKED. AS MY VAN BOUNCED FORWARD AFTER IT BOUNCED OFF THE CONCRETE BLOCK, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT INTO PARK. I AM LUCKY THERE WERE NO PEDESTRIANS ON THE BRIDGE, AS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED IMMEDIATELY BY THE CONCRETE, AND THROWN INTO THE RIVER BELOW. I'M ALSO INCREDIBLY FORTUNATE MY VAN DIDN'T CONTINUE IN REVERSE, PLUNGING ITSELF, AND ME, INTO THE RIVER. IT WAS A HARROWING EXPERIENCE AND TWO WEEKS LATER, I AM STILL NOT QUITE PAST IT. WE HAD JUST RETURNED FROM A TRIP, AND PICKED UP OUR SIENNA MINIVAN AT THE PARKING LOT. I OPENED THE LEFT SIDE SLIDING DOOR, PUT SOME LUGGAGE IN THE BACK SEAT, AND THEN CLOSED THE DOOR. THE DOOR SLIDE CLOSED BUT DID NOT LATCH. I CYCLED THE DOOR AGAIN, AND IT STILL DID NOT LATCH. I TRIED THE RIGHT DOOR AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. WE HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITH THE WARNING BEEPING IN OUR EARS (THIS COMES ON IF THE CAR IS IN GEAR AND THE DOORS ARE NOT LATCHED). STRUTS ON THE REAR POWER LIFT GATE HAVE FAILED AND REAR GATE WILL OPEN AND IMMEDIATELY START CLOSING WITH NO WAY TO STOP IT. THIS OCCURS WHEN USING INTERIOR BUTTON OR REMOTE KEY FOB. IF OPENED MANUALLY, THE GATE SLAMS CLOSED WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT INJURY DUE TO THE FORCE OF THE DROPPING GATE. I WAS PUMPING GAS AND MY CHILD INSIDE THE CAR HIT THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR BUTTON TO OPEN THE SLIDING DOOR. THE DOOR IS SUPPOSED TO STOP AND NOT OPEN WHEN THE GAS COVER IS OPEN. MY SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO DEACTIVATE AND THE SLIDING DOOR CONTINUED TO AUTOMATICALLY OPEN SMASHING THE GAS PUMP INSIDE THE SLIDING DOOR AND THE GAS TANK OPENING. ALL MEAN WHILE FUEL IS PUMPING INTO THE CAR. THIS BENT THE GAS COVER LUCKILY DIDN'T SPARK A FIRE DUE TO FRICTION. HOWEVER NOW I HAVE TO SLAM THE GAS COVER TO GET IT TO SHUT AS SOME TIMES DOORS NOW WILL NOT OPEN AUTOMATICALLY BECAUSE THE GAS COVER IS NOT LATCHED SHUT. ONCE WE BENT THE DOOR AS BEST WE COULD BACK IN PLACE AT LEAST TO ALLOW IT TO LATCH BACK SHUT. THE DOORS WILL AUTOMATICALLY OPEN AND SHUT AS THEY SHOULD. I HAVE HAD THIS OCCUR MULTIPLE TIMES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE SAFETY FEATURE ON THE AUTOMATIC PASSENGER SIDING DOOR WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THE SLIDING DOOR CLOSED ABRUPTLY ONTO THE UPPER ARM OF THE PASSENGER EXITING THE VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY, THE AUTOMATIC DOOR MECHANISM WAS ENGAGED AND THE DOOR RELEASED OPEN. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO DIFFERENT TIMES. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURY TO THE UPPER ARM AREA. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ANY SPEED THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDES BLIND SPOT WAS VERY SMALL AND MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE SMALL CARS. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30000. AT APPROXIMATELY 1500 ON 16 MAR 2010, I USED THE REMOTE TO OPEN THE POWER LIFTGATE ON MY 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE MINIVAN. WHILE LOADING A CHILDREN'S TABLE, THE LIFTGATE STARTED TO CLOSE ON ITS OWN. I TRIED TO PREVENT THE GATE FROM CLOSING AS MY TWO YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE PATH OF CLOSURE. I HAD TO HOLD THE GATE OPEN AS MUCH AS I COULD AND GRAB HIM AND PULL HIM DOWN AND AWAY TO PREVENT THE DOOR FROM SHUTTING AND POSSIBLY INJURING HIM. IN THE PROCESS, I STRAINED MY BACK. THE SAFETY FUNCTION OF THE POWER LIFTGATE SEEMED TO HAVE STOPPED FUNCTIONING AS WELL. SINCE THE INITIAL FAILURE EARLIER TODAY, THE PROBLEM WITH THE LIFTGATE OCCURS WHENEVER THE POWER FUNCTION IS USED TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE LIFTGATE OPENS AND CONTINUES UNTIL THE LIFTGATE REACHES ITS MAXIMUM OPENING THEN CLOSES ITSELF AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN THE POWER FUNCTION IS DISABLED, THE LIFTGATE FAILS TO REMAIN. OPEN. I HAVE NOT DONE ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPLACED ANY PARTS NOR HAVE I CONTACTED THE TOYOTA DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN REGARD TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE ON TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVANS WITH MULTIPLE REPORTS OF INJURIES OCCURRING. *TR

MY SIENNA XLE 07 WAS PURCHASED NEW IN JAN OF 07. LESS THAN 1 MONTH I HAD A RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I TOOK THE VAN IN AND THEY REPLACED THE LOCKS. IN 1 WEEK IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. I HAD MY VAN IN AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP AND THEY WOULD DO SOMETHING AND SEND ME HOME AND AGAIN THE NOISE WOULD GET WORSE. THEY EVEN BROUGHT IN A REP FROM KANSAS CITY AND HE TOLD ME TO JUST PUT BABY POWDER ON THE DOOR AND IT WOULD BE FIXED. RIGHT.THEN NOISE GETS WORSE IN THE SUMMER AND WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY. I WAS TOLD THAT NO OTHER SIENNA VAN HAD EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. I LOVE MY VAN, BUT THE NOISE IS HORRIBLE AND I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING ELSE FROM TOYOTA. WE HAVE OWNED 2 OTHER TOYOTAS AND 1 LEXUS, BUT THIS IS JUST A PROBLEM WITH THE SIENNA. *TR

REAR LIFT GATE WAS IN THE OPEN POSITION. WHILE I WAS STANDING UNDERNEATH IT, WITHOUT WARNING IT SUDDENLY FAILED STRIKING ME IN THE HEAD AND PUSHING ME INTO THE REAR BUMPER. FORTUNATELY, OTHER THEN A SORE HEAD FOR A FEW MOMENTS I WAS NOT INJURED. HAD I NOT BEEN STANDING UNDER THE LIFT GATE AT THE TIME IT WOULD HAVE CLOSED ON MY THREE YEAR OLD POSSIBLY CAUSING SEVERE INJURIES OR KILLING HER. SINCE THE INCIDENT THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED. IT WILL LIFT INTO THE OPEN POSITION AND REMAIN OPEN FOR A SHORT (UNPREDICTABLE) PERIOD OF TIME THEN SUDDENLY SLAM SHUT. CURRENTLY WE HAVE TO HAVE ONE PERSON HOLD THE LIFT GATE OPEN WHILE LOADING OR UNLOADING THE MINI-VAN. *TR

OCCASIONALLY, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR WILL CLOSE BEFORE IT SHOULD. THIS HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 20 TIMES IN THE LAST NINE MONTHS (FOUR TIMES ON 12/28/08). IT HAS CLOSED ON MY SON, MY MOTHER, MY GRANDDAUGHTER, MY WIFE, AND ME. THERE IS NO PATTERN FOR WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN, SO WHEN WE TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR, THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. OCCASIONALLY AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE AUTOMATIC LEFT PASSENGER DOOR WILL CLOSE AS THE PERSON IS GETTING IN OR OUT OF THE VAN. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST SIX TIMES IN THE EIGHT MONTHS WE HAVE HAD THE VAN. IT WAS TAKEN TO A TOYOTA DEALER SERVICE CENTER ON TWO OCCASIONS (DIFFERENT LOCATIONS), BUT BECAUSE THE TECHNICIAN CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, NOTHING WAS DONE. TL* - THE CONTACT HAS A 2004 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON FEBRUARY 18, 2007 WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE FOR TWO HOURS, IN TEMPERATURES OF 20 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. THE CONTACT OPENED THE LIFTGATE BY REMOTE, AND PROCEEDED TO LOAD A STROLLER AND A FEW BAGS. THE CONTACT WAS UNDER THE LIFTGATE FOR ABOUT 30 UNDER SECONDS, WHEN SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING THE LIFTGATE BEGAN TO CLOSE ON ITS OWN, STRIKING THE CONTACT ON THE HEAD, THE CONTACT THEN BEGAN TO PUSH THE LIFTGATE WITH HIS BACK AGAINST IT UNTIL THE MOTOR RECOGNIZED THERE WAS AN OBSTACLE ON THE WAY OF THE LIFTGATE AND STOPPED CLOSING THE LIFTGATE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A COMBINATION OF THE STRUT FAILING TO STAY OPEN AND THE MOTOR THAT CLOSES THE LIFTGATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36868 MILES.
