THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE SAME DEALER UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V858000 (STRUCTURE) AND 16V340000 (AIR BAGS) AND PRIOR TO THE REPAIRS THE VEHICLE HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. TAKATA RECALL WESTBURY TOYOTA HAS A 2011 SIENNA LE IN SILVER ON SALE ON THEIR LOT. I ADDRESSED THEM VIA EMAIL ABOUT MY CONCERNS ON RECALLS SPECIFICALLY THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. WHEN I ENTERED THE VIN ON THE NHYSA WEBSITE IT SHOWED ONE RECALL 1/9/2019 FOR AIRBAG BUT NO OFFICIAL RECALL NUMBER ASSIGNED TO IT YET. AS SOON AS I EMAILED THEM BACK AT NIGHT AROUND 9 PM I NOTICED THE RECALL NOTICE HAD DISAPPEARED. THE CARFAX ALSO SHOWS 1/24/2019 THAT MANUFACTURE MAINTENANCE WAS CONDUCTED. SO ALL OF A SUDDEN AT 9:30 PM THEY MAGICALLY FIXED THE AIRBAGS!? I'M WORRIED ABOUT THE LEGITIMACY OF THE FIX THEY CONDUCTED AND AFRAID SOMEONE MIGHT GET INJURED SHOULD THEY BUY THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE OR REACH OUT TO THEM.

TAKATA RECALL WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER IN KATY IN MID FEBRUARY 2018 TO SOLVE THE AIR BAG RECALL AND POWER DOORS. THEY SAID THE DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS; WE HAVE GO BACK TWICE BUT THEY SAY THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THEM. NOW ALMOST 3 MONTHS LATER THEY HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WE HAD NOT HAVE ANY ACCIDENT BUT WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE WHEN DRIVING THE CAR.

I WAS DRIVING MY TOYOTA SIENNA 2011(US 22W ALLENTOWN PA HIGHWAY) WHEN SUDDENLY MY VEHICLE WAS HIT HARDLY BY A CHEVY SUV, THEN I HIT LATERALLY THE WALL DIVIDING THE HIGHWAY, LATELY HIT A ALUMINIUM FENCE. I WAS ADMITTED AT LEHIGH VALLEY HEALTH NETWORK, CEDAR CREST HOSPITAL WITH HITS ALL OVER MY BODY, ESPECIALLY, AN OPEN-WOUND TRAUMA IN MY FOREHEAD. I STARTED HAVING RECURRENT HEADACHES, PAINFUL BACK AND NECK ACCOMPANY OF SWELLING, NUMBNESS AND CRAMPS IN MY RIGHT LIMB. I WAS ATTENDING PHYSICAL THERAPIES, STILL I AM TAKING MEDICATIONS BY RELIEF RECURRENT MIGRAINES, BACK AND NECK PAIN PROVOKED BY THE WHIPLASH SYNDROME LONG-TERM INJURIES. WHEN CHECKING ON THE VEHICLE WAS VERY NOTICEABLE THAT NONE OF AIR-BAGS WAS OPENED. BECAUSE OF THIS SITUATION MY INJURIES WERE WORST.
THIS WEBSITE AND SENT NOTICES STATE THAT MY 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA IS ON TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. WHEN I JUST CALLED BOCH TOYOTA SOUTH TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL AND REPLACE MY AIRBAGS, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT THE AIRBAG RECALL IS VEHICLE SPECIFIC AND MY MINI VAN IS NOT ON THEIR RECALL LIST, THEREFORE I CANNOT GET THE SAFER AIRBAGS INSTALLED. I'D LIKE TO GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED AND MAKE MY VEHICLE SAFER.

TAKATA RECALL: DESPITE BEING IN ZONE A, MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER (SERVCO HAWAII) SAYS IT WILL BE MANY MONTHS BEFORE THEY CAN GET TO FIXING MY AIRBAG (I WAITED ON THE PHONE FOR OVER AN HOUR BEFORE THEY EVEN ANSWERED MY CALL). GIVEN THAT ZONE A CARS ARE AT THE GREATEST RISK OF ACCIDENTAL AIR BAG EXPLOSION, AND GIVEN THAT TOYOTA SAYS THAT THE FRONT SEAT SHOULD NOT BE OCCUPIED UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED, IT SEEMS INADEQUATE TO JUST TELL THE CONSUMER THAT THEY WILL GET TO IT IN A FEW (INDETERMINATE) MONTHS. I CALL THEM AND THEY PUT ME ON A WAIT LIST THAT THE SAN JOSE STEVEN'S CREEK TOYOTA DEALER TELLS ME IS GOING TO BE 4 TO 6 WEEKS WAIT. SO FOR A YEAR, NO ONE CAN SIT ON THE PASSENGER SEAT OR FEAR OF DEATH IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS. NOW ITS 4 TO 6 MORE WEEKS LONGER. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN SEATS INSTALLED IN THE MIDDLE ROW AND THE BACK SEATS ARE FOLDED DOWN TO CARRY CARGO. WHERE IS MY WIFE SUPPOSED TO SIT IN THE MEANTIME?!? IN NOVEMBER 2016 I RECEIVED NOTICE THAT MY VAN ALSO HAD A SLIDING DOOR RECALL. I INITIALLY STORED MY VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP, BUT WAS TOLD TO MOVE IT TO MY HOME IN LATE DECEMBER 2016. IN OR ABOUT THE SUMMER OF 2016, WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA WITH THE ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER LISTED ABOVE. AMONG OTHER INFORMATION, IT STATES "UNTIL THE REMEDY BECOMES AVAILABLE WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT." IN THE FAQ, IT STATED, THAT TOYOTA WILL PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE FOR THOSE CUSTOMERS WITH VEHICLES CURRENTLY UNDER RECALL. IN ANOTHER PORTION OF THE LETTER, IT STATES THAT CA IS IN ZONE 1 AND THAT OUR VEHICLE IS IN ZONE A OF THE RECALL, THE MOST DANGEROUS AREA WITH RESPECT TO THE SAFETY OF THE RECALL. WHEN WE CONTACTED TOYOTA FOR A LOANER VEHICLE, THEY OFFERED A 5 PASSENGER TOYOTA CAMRY. THEY ALSO STATED WE COULD HAVE A 7 PASSENGER SIENNA IF WE PAID AN ADDITIONAL $500 A MONTH. WE TOLD THEM THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE AS WE PURCHASED (AND ARE STILL PAYING TOYOTA FOR) A 7 PASSENGER VEHICLE. WE ESCALATED THIS NUMEROUS TIMES INCLUDING TO THE BBB AT WHICH TIME THEY SUDDENLY SAID THIS WAS A TEXAS COMPANY AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE OFFERING ANY ADDITIONAL REMEDY. WE WOULD LIKE A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO TIMELINE FOR THE RECALL SO THEY ARE SAYING INDEFINITELY THAT WE CANNOT USE THE CAR AS THEY SOLD IT TO US.

WE KNEW FROM CHECKING TOYOTA RECALL LONG BEFORE THE LETTER THAT OUR CAR HAD A RECALL THE TAKATA AIRBAGS BUT NOT THE SERIOUSNESS OF RECALL. LETTER INDICATED THE FOLLOWING: WE ARE IN ZONE A(HIGH HUMIDITY- TEMPERATURES) DEGRADES PROPELLANT WHICH CAN CAUSE INFLATOR TO RUPTURE DURING AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG STRIKING VEHICLE OCCUPANTS AND RESULTS IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. TOYOTA SAYS WE SHOULD DO THIS: DO NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. WHEN YOU HAVE ONLY ONE CAR THIS IS UNEXCEPTABLE.........WHEN THEY SAY THIS CAN CAUSE DEATH TO FRONT SEAT PASSENGER WHAT MAKE THEM THINK THAT THE DRIVER MAY NOT ALSO GET IMPACTED AND CAUSE ANOTHER ISSUE. LATER THAT DAY OR THE NEXT, MY HUSBAND SPOKE TO TOYOTA REP CHRISTINA C AT EXTENSION 73868. SHE REFUSED TO TELL HIM HER LAST NAME. SHE TOLD US OUR FILE NUMBER WAS 1607202114. CHRISTINA SUGGESTED ORALLY IT WAS SAFE TO RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, BUT REFUSED TO SAY SO IN WRITING. NEITHER AARON NOR CHRISTINA COULD TELL US WHEN OUR AIRBAG WOULD BE FIXED, AND BOTH SAID THEY WOULD HAVE A SUPERVISOR CALL US. IN BOTH CASES A SUPERVISOR DID NOT CALL US. CHRISTINA OFFERED A LOANER VEHICLE, BUT IT WOULD BE A SMALL COMPACT CAR, WHICH COULD NOT TRANSPORT OUR FAMILY. WE SPENT THE LAST 2+ MONTHS NOT USING THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF OUR VEHICLE. I CALLED AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2016 AND SPOKE WITH TOYOTA REPS BERTHA AND SYREETA. SINCE THE CAR IS NOW SIX YEARS OLD AND HAS BEEN IN HOT AND HUMID SOUTH CAROLINA, AND THEREFORE NOW LIKELY SUBJECT TO MATERIAL DETERIORATION, WE DEMANDED TOYOTA INSTALL A REPLACEMENT AIRBAG RIGHT AWAY. TAKATA RECALL I WAS RECENTLY INFORMED OF MY VEHICLE'S INVOLVEMENT IN THIS RECALL. WHEN I CONTACTED THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR UNTIL 4 MONTHS TO 18 MONTHS FROM NOW. THEY SUGGESTED THAT UNTIL THEN WE JUST NOT USE OUR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THEY HAVE OFFERED NO OTHER SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THEY HAVE 60 DAYS TO PROVIDE A REMEDY SO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT RIGHTS I HAVE AS A CONSUMER.

TAKATA RECALL-SIENNA 2011- TOYOTA IS SUGGESTING WE DO NOT USE PASSENGER SEAT AND I HAVE A FAMILY OF 5 AND CARPOOL OTHER CHILDREN AGES 11-16 USING THE PASSENGER SEAT DAILY. THEY ARE STATING THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE A RENTAL THAT SEATS 7 LIKE MY VAN. IM CONCERNED AS I LIVE IN CA, HOT CLIMATE, AND THE CAR IS NOT GARAGED AT HOME OR WORK INCREASING THE LIKELIHOOD THAT THE AIRBAG IS DAMAGED. WINDOWS AND FRONT GLASS SHATTERED WHILE SLIDING THERE IS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE ON CAR ON PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVER SIDE AS WELL AS IN FRONT NEAR PASSENGER SIDE NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WERE INFLATED DESPITE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT

THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED ALMOST $9000 WORTH OF DAMAGE, HOWEVER WAS NOT TOTALED. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. WE ASKED TOYOTA FOR AN EXPLANATION, AND THEY FINALLY SENT A THIRD PARTY TO INVESTIGATE. WE WERE SENT THE DOWNLOAD OF THE CRASH DATA RECORDER, BUT NO EXPLANATION OF WHAT IT MEANT, AND TOYOTA DETERMINED THAT THE AIRBAG WAS NOT FAULTY, EVEN THOUGH THE CRASH DATA RECORDER SHOWS I HIT SOMEONE FRONT-TO-REAR TRAVELING 38 MILES PER HOUR. AFTER WAITING 3 MONTHS ON TOYOTA, WE FINALLY GAVE UP AND ARE HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. I HAVE A CHRONIC NECK CONDITION WHICH WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE ACCIDENT BUT WAS GREATLY AGGRAVATED AND MADE MORE PAINFUL FROM THE ACCIDENT. WE HAVE ASKED TOYOTA FOR AN EXPLANATION OF THE DATA FROM THE RECORDER, BUT HAVE NOT BEEN PROVIDED ONE, ONLY SENT A LETTER STATING TOYOTA WAS NOT AT FAULT AND THAT INJURIES SUCH AS MINE AREN'T PROVEN TO BE PREVENTED BY THE AIRBAG. ..UPDATED 11/03/14 *BF UPDATED 4/28/2015 *JS *TR

I WAS TRYING TO PARK MY VAN INSIDE A CAMPSITE, DRIVING AT APPROX 1.2 MPH WHEN MY VAN TOOK OFF LIKE A ROCKET. I COULDN'T STOP THE CAR EVEN BY BRAKING. LUCKILY MY VAN WENT INTO A DITCH, AIRBAGS OPENED UP, VAN WENT DOWN THE DITCH AND CAME UP AT AN ANGLE AND STOPPED. I WAS BADLY HURT AND PASSED OUT FOR FEW MINUTES, TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM. THE 16 PAGE REPORT ORDERED BY TOYOTA THRU' A 3RD PARTY CLEARLY SHOWED THAT THE CAR WENT FROM 1.2 MPH TO 31.5 MPH, ENGINE RPM WENT FROM 800 TO 4800 RPM IN 4.2 SECS. I CHECKED WITH A REPUTABLE AUTO MECHANIC. HE COMMENTED THAT NO ONE CAN MANUALLY RAMP THE ENGINE RPM TO 4800 RPM. IT IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE WITH TOYOTA'S ELECTRONIC SYSTEM. TOYOTA HAS DENIED ANY ISSUE WITH THEIR CAR IN A LETTER TO ME.I WANT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADMIN TO TAKE MY CASE AGAINST TOYOTA.
