Found hole in frame (chassis)
The contact's daughter owns a 2002 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that several independent mechanics and an auto body repair shop had informed her that there was a hole in the subframe, and the subframe was significantly corroded. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.

I went to get my 02 tacoma tires balanced and was called and told that where the frame was cracked. Upon inspecting it myself the crack is where the manufacturer welded the frame together. I'm the 3rd owner of this vehicle and there original owner didn't get frame warranty recall done. Which led to it running out. Now Toyota corporate has a frame case number ([XXX]) and was told that there's nothing that could be done until enough complaints about this case number reaches a certain number then they'll look into it. The frame has prematurely rusted out causing a driving hazard.
The truck frame has completely rusted out and has snapped in half. Leaving my truck undriveable. Toyota had an extended warranty but only if you followed exact criteria. This is a big safter issue that should be recalled
Truck frame is rusted to the point the the vehicle is not usable. The problem has been confirmed by a local independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. The first symptom was that the right rear shock became detached from the frame. When I brought the vehicle in to have the shock repaired they stated that there was not enough frame left in that area to re-attach the shock.
Truck was taken to dealer about 5 years ago or less for underbody spray and frame inspection "recall". Truck was cleared as safe. Today, Tire shop informs me frame is unsafe to lift the car by, and proceeded to put his hand through the frame to show the severity of the issue. So I take the truck to my local dealer and ask them what can be done about it. They inform me that, this "program" ended in 2016. I read that 10mm holes in frame would issue a frame/car recall. There is no way there wasn't an issue less than 5 years ago. I believe this is negligence of the dealer in keeping people safe in this vehicle and on the highway.
The chassis of the vehicle is corroded, metal is exposed. Shocks bracket seems like it might break off. Concerned that vehicle will fail on the road.
FRAME RUSTING
MY FRAME IN MY 2002 TACOMA IS ALMOST FULLY RUSTED . I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO HELP EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THAT THEIR TRUCKS ARE RUSTING AND THAT THERE WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL SET TO REPLACE THE FRAME. SINCE I JUST GOT THIS TRUCK FORM SOMEONE, I HAD NO IDEA OF THE RECALL AND OF THE RUST . THE CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE AT THIS POINT SINCE IT IS ABOUT TO BREAK IN HALF .
THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRAME IN 2010 AND THEY SAID UNDERCOATING WOULD PROTECT THAT HOWEVER NOW THE FRAME IS RUSTED AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IF I GET IN AN ACCIDENT IT WILL FAIL. IT ONLY HAS 90,000 MILES ON IT AND TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I FEEL THEY SHOULD HAVE A WARRANTY ON THE FRAME.

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH MARKQUART TOYOTA (1844 COMMERCIAL BLVD, CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI 54729) WHO INFORMED HER THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT THEN CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DISREGARDED HER CONCERN WITH THE CORROSION. THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED THE VEHICLE BE SOLD AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,021.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 190,000.

I HAVE A 2002 TACOMA THAT WAS PART OF THE FRAME PERFORATION RECALL. HOWEVER, I DID NOT GET A FRAME REPLACEMENT. THE "FIX" WAS TO APPLY A GEL OVER THE RUST ON THE FRAME, WHICH, SUBSEQUENTLY, ALL FELL OFF THE FRAME ONTO MY DRIVEWAY. RECENTLY, I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A 4WD REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT MY "FRAME WAS SHOT" AND THE TRUCK WAS "UNSAFE TO DRIVE", DUE TO THAT. AND IF THEY LIFTED MY TRUCK TO DO THE REPAIR, IT MIGHT "CRUSH MY FRAME". I EXPRESSED MY DISPLEASURE FOR THE RECALL FIX AND HAD THEM DO AN ESTIMATE ON THE 4WD REPAIR. THEY CAME BACK WITH AN OUTRAGEOUS NUMBER, AS IF THEY DID NOT WANT TO DO THE WORK. I HAVE SINCE CONTACTED INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOPS AND NO ONE WILL TOUCH IT. *SO, I HAVE A TRUCK NO ONE WILL REPAIR, I CAN'T SELL IT, I CAN'T TRADE IT IN...AND I CAN'T DRIVE IT. IT HAS NO WORTH.ONE OF MY LEAF SPRINGS HAS RUSTED AND BROKEN, TOO. THE TRUCK HAS 215K AND IS IN GOOD CONDITION OTHER THAN RUST. THE ENGINE WILL GO 500K. I SEE RECALLS ON THE FRAME AND LEAF SPRING FOR OTHER MODEL YEARS, BUT THE 2002 SEEMS TO NOT FALL INTO ANY OF THEM. I DON'T EXPECT A NEW FRAME, BUT ASSISTANCE IN OBTAINING A SIMILAR TRUCK AT A REASONABLE PRICE OR OTHER FAIR SOLUTION MAY BE A CONSIDERATION.

FRAME FAILURE DUE TO CORROSION: TOYOTA HAD PLACED A "WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT" TO REPLACE THE FRAMES BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T TREATED FOR CORROSION BUT WITH AN ENHANCEMENT, IT EXPIRES AND DID SO IN 2017. I JUST BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND LEARNED THEY HAVE A SAFETY RECALL FOR CORROSION OF THE SPARE WHEEL COMPARTMENT. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE. WHY IS THE FRAME NOT A SAFETY RECALL?? I HAVE HUGE HOLES AND LARGE CRACKS ALONG MUCH OF THE FRAME AND MY MECHANIC TELLS ME IT'S UNSAFE TO DRIVE. MY FINGERS GO THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE FRAME! MY MECHANIC TELLS ME BASED ON THE LOCATION OF THE CORROSION IN THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK, THE ENTIRE ENGINE IS IN DANGER OF FALLING OUT!! LOOKING ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR TOYOTA TRUCKS FOR 2002 AND BEYOND. FOR MANY YEARS THIS HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED. THE GOV NEEDS TO DEMAND A SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS TRUCK AND ALL THE OTHERS AFFECTED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO REMINDER ABOUT THE WARRANTY EXPIRATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED AND THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FRAME WAS COATED WITH AN ANTI RUST COATING DURING THE MANUFACTURER RECALL THAT LASTED UNTIL 2017 NOW THE THE METAL IS BECOMING POROUS AND UPON SLIGHTLY TAPPING THE FRAME ONE CAN POKE HOLES IN THE FRAME WITH A PENCIL. THE TRUCK HAS BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE. UPON TAKING IT MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER WILLIS TOYOTA OF TWIN FALLS IDAHO IN 2016 AND 2017 THEY PERFORMED A POORLY EXECUTED INSPECTION JUST TO AVOID REPAIRING THE ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME BOTH TIMES THE FRAME WAS FINE WHEN IT CLEARLY WAS NOT. THIS TRUCK HAS ONLY 110K MILES ON IT BUT IS SLOWLY BECOMING A PILE OF RUST. HOW CAN A VEHICLE THAT IS JUST 16 YEARS OLD BE SO RUSTED. TOYOTA IS OF NO HELP AFTER REPEATED CALLS
I RECENTLY TOOK MY CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE INFORMED ME OF A RECALL FOR MY CAR MADE DUE TO THE ROTTING OF THE FRAME. I'VE HAD MY DAUGHTER CALL TOYOTA, WHO'S INFORMED HER THAT MAILS WERE SENT TO MY HOME ABOUT THE RECALL, WHICH I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED. I FEEL THE CONDITION OF THE FRAME IN MY CAR IS A VERY DANGEROUS HAZARD AND I AM NOT ABLE TO USE THIS VEHICLE AFRAID OF WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.
FRAME IS RUSTING REAL BAD AND FALLING APART.CALLED TOYOTA AND DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THERE IS A SUBSTANTIAL CRACKING AND BREAKING APART ON THE FRAME I READ ONLINE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THERE IS PROBLEMS WITH A LOT OF TACOMA'S AND LIKE TRUCKS. BUT NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM. EVERYWHERE ELSE ON THE FRAME IS LITTLE RUSTY GIVEN THE AGE OF THE TRUCK BUT IN ONE SPOT IT IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND SCARY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO OR WHERE ELSE TO TURN.

I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LE MIEUX TOYOTA-GREEN BAY FOR REPAIR AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT DO IT BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS TOO RUSTED OUT AND REMOVING THE OLD SPARE TIRE CARRIER WOULD MAKE THE PROBLEM WORSE. LE MIEUX SAID THAT THERE WAS AN EARLIER RECALL THAT ADDRESSED THE FRAME ISSUE. I DID NOT RECEIVE THAT RECALL. I CALLED DIRECTLY TO TOYOTA USA HOME OFFICE AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE RUSTING FRAME ISSUE. I BELIEVE THAT THIS HAPPENED MAYBE 2-3 YEARS AGO. I WAS NOT GIVEN A REASON FOR REJECTING MY REQUEST FOR THE REPAIR., AND I KNOW THAT LE MIEUX TOYOTA HAS FIXED OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUES. I BELIEVE THAT THEY WOULD NOT FIX MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I AM A 2ND OWNER. I HAVE HAD SERVICE ISSUES WITH THIS DEALER ON 3 OTHER SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AND I HAVE REFUSED TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO VEHICLE OWNERS, EXPIRED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO FRAME RUST. WAS TOLD THAT ITS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THIS IS LONG ONGOING ISSUE WITH TOYOTA AND A NUMBER OF THERE VEHICLES. TOYOTA HAS KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ISSUE AND STILL SOLD THESE INFERIOR FRAMES FOR MANY YEARS.

IN 2012 WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS VEHICLES FRAME. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND WE WERE TOLD EVERYHTHING LOOKS OK. NO OTHER ACTION WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. YESTERDAY WE NOTICED A CRACK IN THE FRAME. THE CAR IS NON DRIVEABLE. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WE WERE TOLD THIS IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. I CALLED TOYOTA HQ AND THEY STATED HAD IT BEEN SPRAYED - WHICH WAS TOYOTAS DIRECTION ON THIS RECALL, IT MAY HAVE PREVENTED THE RUSTING AND CRACKING BUT SINCE THE DEALER DIDN'T DO IT, IT IS NOW OUT OF ANYTHING ANYONE CAN DO. I ASKED THEM IF THEY WOULD SEND ME A COPY OF THE DIRECTIVE GIVEN TO THE DEALSHIPS ON HOW TO HANDLE THIS RECALL AND THEY SAID THAT IS NOT SOMETHING THEY COULD PROVIDE AND THEY CANNOT TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE DEALERSHIP. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS? I FEEL THAT IF THE DEALERSHIP HAD DONE THE SPRAYING AS THEY HAD BEEN INSTRUCTED, WE MAY NOT BE IN THIS SITUATION TODAY.

MY 2002 TACOMA HAS SEVERE RUST ON THE FRAME AND DRIVE TRAIN AND I WAS TOLD BY THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THAT THE TRUCK UNDER BODY WAS SPRAYED IN 2010 AND THAT THERE HAVE TO BE HOLES IN THE FRAME TO BE COVERED. HE ALSO SAID THAT THERE WAS A 15 YEAR WARRANTY FOR MY FRAME TO WHICH IT IS NOW 2018 AND HAS EXSPIRED. I FEEL THAT TOYOTA KNEW THAT DEFECTED STEEL WAS USED FOR THESE FRAMES FROM 2002. I WON'T EVEN BOTHER TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THEM BECAUSE I KNOW THAT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

SHOCK RUSTED AWAY FROM FRAME, MECHANIC TRIED TO PUT ON LIFT TO FIX AND THE FRAME STARTED TO POP AND CRACK AT THE REAR WHEEL AREA, IT IS RUSTED THROUGH. THE FRAME WAS COATED DURING THE RECALL PERIOD IN 2011 AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS OK. I VERY MUCH DOUBT THAT IT WAS.

THE FRAME IS ROTTING OUT. TOYOTA HAD THE VEHICLE FRAME COATED WITH SOME KIND OF TAR SUBSTANCE BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS SUSPECT TO HEAVY CORROSION. THE COATING WHICH WAS DONE AROUND 2010 DID NOT WORK AND THE VEHICLE NOW HAS HOLES IN THE FRAME DUE TO HEAVY RUST. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. MY FRAME HAS SIGNIFICANT RUST, AND HAS HOLES IN THE FRAME NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE LEAF SPRING ATTACHMENT. I PURCHASED AND REGISTERED THE TRUCK TOWARDS THE END OF TOYOTA'S GOODWILL CAMPAIGN, BUT THEY DID NOT NOTIFY ME. PREVIOUS OWNER RECEIVED NO NOTICE OF CAMPAIGN, SO THE FRAME WAS NOT SPRAYED INTERNALLY WITH RUST PROHIBITOR TREATMENT. TRUCK HAS APPROX. 136,000 MILES, AND IS OTHERWISE IN GOOD CONDITION. TOYOTA SHOULD RECALL THE FRAMES FOR THIS MODEL YEAR LIKE THEY DID FOR OTHER MODEL YEARS. THE GOODWILL CAMPAIGN WAS ADVERTISED INCONSISTENTLY, AND A SERIOUS STRUCTURAL ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL, NOT ARBITRARY. HELLO, I OWN A 2002 TOYOTA TACOMA AND I BROUGHT IT TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE A SERVICE ADVISOR CAME OUT TO THE PARKING LOT, GOT UNDER THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FRAME HAS RUSTED THROUGH (HE STUCK HIS HAND THROUGH THE RUST HOLE) NEAR WHERE THE LEAF SPRINGS ATTACH TO THE FRAME. IT IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE AND TOYOTA HAS REPAIRED/REPLACED MANY TACOMA'S DUE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I DID SOME RESEARCH, AND FOUND OUT THAT TOYOTA KNOWS THEIR FRAMES ARE UNSAFE, AND HAVE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 15 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF NEW CAR DELIVERY. I TRIED TO GET MINE REPLACED SINCE ITS STILL WELL WITHIN TIME-FRAME, BUT THEY ARE STATING THAT THE ORIGINAL OWNER REFUSED A FRAME INSPECTION/APPLICATION ANTICORROSION SPRAY SO NOW THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE UNSAFE FRAME. TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGED THE FRAMES WERE OF POOR MANUFACTURING EVEN SUING THE FRAME MANUFACTURER, YET SOME GET NEW FRAMES, OTHERS LIKE MYSELF WITH A LOW MILE TRUCK ARE TOLD THEY COULD DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS TRADED IN LESS THAN 1600 MILES AGO AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN PA. TOYOTA NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND ADDRESS IT INSTEAD OF SKIRTING THE ISSUE WITHOUT A PROPER RECALL. THE TRUCK BENT IN HALF WHEN THE LIFT WAS RAISED. THE MECHANIC HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 30 YEARS AND HAD NEVER SEEN SUCH A THING. LUCKILY, HE WAS NOT UNDER THE TRUCK AND FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT DRIVING THE TRUCK FOR MY FRAME REPLACEMENT APPOINTMENT THE NEXT DAY. IRA TOYOTA TOWED THE VEHICLE AND GAVE ME A LOANER. I AM TOLD THAT THEY WILL REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRAME . IN TALKING TO MY FATHER, MECHANIC FRIENDS AND LEGAL FRIENDS AN ISSUE KEPT COMING UP - IF THE FRAME IS THAT CORRODED, IT WOULD FOLLOW THAT PARTS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME WOULD BE CORRODED AS WELL. THIS PRESENTS AN ALARMINGLY SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. I WOULD ADD THAT THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION INTO THE SAFETY OF THIS PROCEDURE AS WELL AS A MEDIA REQUIREMENT MADE THAT TOYOTA RUN ADVERTISEMENTS ON TV, RADIO AND PRINT WARNING THE PUBLIC ABOUT THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO THE NEW TOYOTA RECALL ON THE SIENNA MINI-VANS SPARE TIRE. I OWN A 2002 TOYOTA TACOMA, IN WHICH THE FRAME WAS RECENTLY REPLACED DUE TO RUST PERFORATION IN CERTAIN STATES. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND BACK IN 8/2007 I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND HAD TO CHANGE IT. THE SPARE TIRE RESIDES UNDER THE VEHICLE AND IS SECURED BY A CABLE. WHEN I WENT TO ACCESS THE SPARE, I NOTICED THE WHOLE CABLE AND THE SURROUNDING PIECES WERE SEVERELY RUSTED AND WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEPARATE THE TIRE FROM THE CABLE. AFTER HEARING ABOUT THE RECALL ON THE SIENNA FOR THE SPARE TIRE GETTING RUSTY, AND POSSIBLY FALLING LOOSE WHILE DRIVING, I REALIZED THAT MY TACOMA, AND POSSIBLY OTHER VEHICLES THAT USE THIS METHOD, AND ARE EXPOSED TO EXTREME CLIMATE CONDITIONS, COULD TRIGGER A SIMILAR EVENT. *TR
GAS TANK SHIELD SEVERELY RUSTED. UNDER SIDE OF GASTANK IS PROTECTED BY A SHIELD/SKID PLATE. IT IS RUSTED SO BADLY THAT WHEN HIT WITH A HAMMER THE HAMMER GOES RIGHT THROUGH. PRESUMABLY THIS SHIELD IS TO PROTECT THE GAS TANK FROM DEBRIS AND STONES ESPECIALLY IF THE TRUCK IS USED OFF ROAD. I DISCOVERED THIS AS I WAS INSPECTING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK BEFORE DROPPING THE TRUCK OFF AT THE DEALER TO HAVE THE FRAME REPLACED. IN ADDITION TO THIS, IT IS APPARENT THAT THE DRIVE AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING ALSO HAVE SEVERE RUST. IF TAPPED WITH A HAMMER THE RUST COMES OF IN SHEETS. THE PARKING BRAKES ACTUATING LEVERS HAVE RUSTED IN PLACE AND CAN NO LONGER BE USED. THERE APPEARS TO BE MORE TO THIS RUST THAN SIMPLE FRAME RUST. I INSISTED THAT THEY HAVE MY VEHICLE INSPECTED BY TOYOTA AND ON 9/12/08 THE BOSTON REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE FAILED MY FRAME. PRIOR TO THAT IRWIN MOTORS IN LACONIA NH ALSO INSPECTED IT AND TOLD ME TO KEEP BUGGING TOYOTA BECAUSE THEY WILL DRAG THEIR FEET. THE DEALERSHIP HAS INDICATED TO ME THAT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM FOR 01THROUGH THE 2004 YEAR FRAMES. TOYOTA INDICATES THAT THEY WILL NEGOTIATE A BUY BACK WITH ME BUT WILL NOT SEND ANY THING IN WRITING, THEY WILL NOT GIVE ANY TIME FRAME FOR RESOLVING OR EVEN NEGOTIATING THE BUY-BACK. I HAVE FRIENDS WHO ARE MECHANICS WHO INDICATE THAT TOYOTA SHOULD RECALL FROM 2001 TO 2004 AS WELL SINCE THE SAME FRAMES ARE BEING PRODUCED AND USED FOR THESE VEHICLE AS USED FOR THE 1995-2000 VEHICLES. I HAVE A NEWER TOYOTA AND THEY HAVE INDICATED TO ME THAT THEY WILL REPURCHASE MY VEHICLE AND BASED IT ON 100% KELLY BLUE BOOK ONLY. I BELIEVE THAT IF OTHERS HAVE RECEIVED A 150% BUY-BACK THAT THEY SHOULD EXTEND THAT OFFER TO ME AS I HAVE OWNED EIGHT TOYOTAS IN THE PAST TEN YEARS. I AM DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA. NOW I HEARD ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THE FIRST GENERATION TACOMA'S 95-00 ON THE FRAMES ROTTING OUT JUST LIKE THE ONE I LOOKED AT. SO SEEING THAT MY 2002 TACOMA WAS SHOWING PREMATURE FRAME RUST, I DECIDED TO INSPECT IT CLOSER. I FOUND THAT NOT ONLY WAS THE FRAME RUSTING AND FLAKING ON THE OUTSIDE, IT WAS ALSO RUSTING ON THE INSIDE AS WELL. I ALSO FOUND THAT THE WELDS ON THE FRAME FOR THE SPRING HANGERS LOOKED VERY POORLY WELDED AND RUSTY TOO. I BELIEVE THAT TOYOTA SHOULD INCLUDE THE 2000 AND NEWER TACOMA'S IN THEIR FRAME ROT RECALL AS WELL. DOES ANY ONE KNOW IF THEY CHANGED THE QUALITY OF THE METAL USED IN THE FRAMES ON THE NEWER TACOMA'S OR THE DESIGN? HOW DO THEY JUSTIFY THAT THE NEWER TACOMA'S DON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM? THE DOOR NEVER RATTLED WITH IT BEING LOOSE. I WAS ABLE TO TIGHTEN THE BOLT. I CHECKED ALL OF THE OTHER DOORS AND FOUND THEY WERE LOOSE, BUT NOT AS BAD AS THE DRIVER'S DOOR. *JB

HAVE DRIVEN IT LESS THAN 3,000 MILES - MOSTLY HIGHWAY. DISCOVERED OIL LEAK UNDER THE FRONT. FORTUNATELY, TOOK IT TO A PERFORMANCE TOYOTA IN FAIRFIELD, OHIO BEFORE THE MOTOR FELL OUT. THE BRACKET IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AS A CERTIFIED INSPECTED USED TOYOTA VEHICLE. THE BRACKET BROKE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. *NM

MY 2002 TACOMA VIBRATES AT HIGH SPEEDS AND WHEN STOPPING. I'VE HAD THE BRAKES FIXED 5 TIMES NOW AND IT'S STILL NOT RIGHT. MY TRANSMISSION CLUNKS WHEN I STOP AND START, SHUTTERS WHEN COMING TO A STOP, AND SHIFTS HARD. SOMETIMES THE TRANSMISSION CLUNKS AFTER I'VE ALREADY STARTED MOVING. THE PROBLEMS STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I'VE RECENTLY BEEN TO TWO DEALERSHIPS BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND NOTHING WAS DONE. ONE TOYOTA TECHNICIAN SAID IT WAS MY BRAKES, YEAH RIGHT, THE OTHER WOULDN'T EVEN TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. I THINK THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY MY TRANSMISSION SLIDING BACK AND FORTH, WHICH I DON'T THINK IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO. WHENEVER I STOMP ON THE GAS TO PASS SOMEONE IT SHIFTS INTO THE WRONG GEAR AND THE ENGINE RED LINES. MY DASH SQUEAKS, SO I HAVE TO WEDGE MY WALLET IN BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND DASH TO STOP IT. MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR DOESN'T SHUT FLUSH WITH THE BODY. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, I HAD TO REPLACE MY OXYGEN SENSOR. I WOULD LIKE TO SELL MY TRUCK, BUT CAN'T WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS. THIS WAS MY FIRST TOYOTA AND WILL PROBABLY BE MY LAST.

FOR THE LAST YEAR I HAVE BROUGHT TRUCK BACK TO SF TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS , SUSPENSION PROBLEMS RATTLING DASH BOARD, SQUEAKING SOUNDS FROM SEAT AND FRONT BUSHINGS. ALL THESE PROBLEMS STILL HAVE NOT BEEN FIXED. AFTER 15 VISITS TO DEALERSHIP, SF TOYOTA LEFT SCRATCHES ON BODY AND LOST MUD FLAP. BODY NOW TILTED AFTER SERVICE. *NLM

WATER IS ENTERING THE VEHICLE AROUND THE SUPPORT HANDLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ONE YEAR AGO. PROBLEM BECAME EVIDENT THIS PAST FALL AND WHEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS FEBRUARY THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR UNDER THE CORROSION WARRANTY. VEHICLE IS OVER THE STANDARD WARRANTY MILEAGE.
