I HAD MY FOOT FIRMLY PRESSED ON THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD. I ONLY STOPPED WHEN I REAR ENDED HIM. I WAS ON A CITY STREET IN PHOENIX.

I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT IN FRONT OF A BUILDING. I WAS GOING APPROX. 1-3 MPH DUE TO THE LOT BEING WET & HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WHEN I WAS ALMOST TO THE CONCRETE CURB, THE TRUCK SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, JUMPED THE CURB AND HIT THE BUILDING. I STILL HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE & SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE ENGINE WAS REVVING FULL THROTTLE, SO I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. BEFORE MOVING, I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE NOTHING WAS TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR, WHICH WAS THE CASE. THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY BUT THAT WAS BECAUSE OF THE ANGLE AT WHICH I HIT THE BUILDING. I THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE AN BACKED OFF THE BUILDING. *TR

I WAS SLOWLY TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THERE WAS A SUDDEN ACCELERATION OF THE GAS PEDAL. MY TRUCK SHOT LIKE A BULLET (ABOUT 40-45 FEET) INTO THE CORNER OF MY HOUSE AND DECK. THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT SHEARED A 6X6 DECK CORNER POST, KNOCKED THE GARAGE SMALL ENTRY DOOR COMPLETELY LOOSE FROM IT'S FRAME, AND DID EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO A SOLID BRICK WALL, AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO THE INSIDE OF GARAGE. LUCKILY, I DID STILL HAVE MY SEAT BELT FASTENED; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I FILED A CLAIM WITH TOYOTA, THEY SENT AN INSPECTOR, AND NOW HAVE DENIED THAT THERE WAS ANY MALFUNCTION. I AM 100% SURE THAT THE ACCELERATION WAS NOT "DRIVER'S ERROR" AND THAT THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE HERE AND TOYOTA SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. THE BODY DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK HAS BEEN REPAIRED, BUT I WILL BE GETTING RID OF IT. THE CONVERSATIONS I HAVE HAD WITH THE PEOPLE AT TOYOTA'S HEADQUARTERS IN TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA HAVE CERTAINLY BEEN MOST UNPLEASANT AND HAVE LEFT ME WITH A VERY BAD OPINION OF TOYOTA AS A COMPANY. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND PUT THE GEAR IN DRIVE TO MOVE IT FORWARD. AS SOON AS I DROPPED IT INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD WITH THE THROTTLE APPEARING TO BE WIDE OPEN. I HAD MY FEET FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING, THE BACK WHEELS STARTED TO SLIP AND "CHIRP" SINCE THE REAR END IS LIGHT. WITH THE ACCELERATOR STILL WIDE OPEN, I PUT THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL AND WATCHED AS THE RPM'S SHOT OVER 4000. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, THE ACCELERATOR SHOWED NO SIGNS OF DISENGAGING, SO I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND PUT THE GEAR IN PARK. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE, SO I AM ALWAYS READY IN CASE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I MUST CONSTANTLY DRIVE WITH ONE HAND ON THE GEAR SHIFT, READY TO PUSH IT INTO NEUTRAL AT THE FIRST SIGNS OF THIS SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION INCIDENT WITH THE VEHICLE. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, VERY SLOWLY WITH HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WHEN HE GOT ABOUT 10 FEET FROM THE CONCRETE PARKING BLOCK, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, AND HE STOMPED ON THE BRAKE. HE CAME TO REST AGAINST THE CONCRETE BLOCK, SLAMMED THE GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK, AT WHICH TIME THE ENGINE RACED. HE THEN TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. THE NEXT DAY, THE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO ONBOARD RECORD OF THE INCIDENT. *JB
IN JUNE 2013 I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSTATE ENTRANCE RAMP. AS I SLOWED DOWN (FOOT ON THE BRAKE) TO MAKE THE RIGHT TURN ONTO THE RAMP, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, CAUSING THE REAR END TO "FISH TAIL" AROUND, JUMPING THE CURB ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RAMP AND SENDING THE VEHICLE DOWN THE EMBANKMENT. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP BEFORE HITTING THE FENCE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL. SINCE THIS FIRST INCIDENT IN JUNE 2013, THE VEHICLE HAS HAD THREE MORE INCIDENTS IN JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST OF 2014. THE LAST INCIDENT IN AUGUST OCCURRED AS I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT. AGAIN, I WAS SLOWING DOWN (FOOT ON THE BRAKE) WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED CAUSING ME TO STRIKE THE PARKED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE INCIDENTS IN JUNE AND JULY 2014 WERE ALSO SIMILAR PARKING LOT INCIDENTS WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND. AFTER THE AUGUST 2014 INCIDENT, I STARTED TO "CONNECT THE DOTS" AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. I FIND THIS VERY STRANGE GIVEN ALL OF THE KNOWN ISSUES TOYOTA HAS HAD WITH SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION (SUA). *TR

WHEN THE CONSUMER ARRIVED HOME, HE CHECKED THE FLOOR MAT, BUT IT WAS FOUND TO BE PROPERLY SECURED. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE REGARDING SUDDEN ACCELERATION ISSUES. WHEN HE CONTACTED THE DEALER, HE WAS INFORMED THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND HE WOULD RECEIVE A CALL WHEN THEY ARRIVED. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH. THE CONSUMER HAD HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY BEGIN TO REVVED UP WITH THE REAR WHEELS SPINNING AND HOPPING WHILE SLOWLY MOVING FORWARD. THE CONSUMER TURNED THE IGNITION IN THE OVER DRIVE POSITION AND THERE WAS SOME DIFFICULTY TRYING TO PLACE THE SHIFTER IN THE PARK POSITION. THE CONSUMER FINALLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL PERFORMED. HOWEVER, TWO MONTHS LATER,WHILE SLOWING DOWN, WITH HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV AGAIN. DROVE ABOUT 12 MILES FROM MY HOME TO MY DOCTORS OFFICE, AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE. I HAD TO BACK UP A FEW FEET TO GET A BETTER ANGLE TO ENTER THE PARKING SPACE. WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE PICKUP SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO ITS MAXIMUM RPM. I HIT A CAR IN THE PARKING SPACE NEXT TO WHERE I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK, AND WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PUSHED THE CAR OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY GET THE GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK, AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL AT MAXIMUM RPM. I TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF AND CALLED THE POLICE. THE POLICE NOTED THAT SKID MARKS INDICATED THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED THROUGHOUT THE EVENT AND DECLARED THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND ORDERED IT IMPOUNDED. IT WAS HAULED TO A BODY SHOP FOR ABOUT $1700 IN BUMPER REPLACEMENT COST AND THEN HAULED TO A NEARBY TOYOTA DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THEY CLAIMED TO FIND NOTHING WRONG. I COMPLAINED TO TOYOTA AND THEY HAD AN INDEPENDENT INSPECTOR TO GO OVER THE VEHICLE AND THEY SENT ME A LETTER SAYING THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ACCELERATOR OR BRAKES. FURTHER COMPLAINTS TO TOYOTA AND OUR INSURANCE COMPANY HAVE YIELDED NO RESULTS. MY NECK WAS INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT AND WE HAVE ASKED TOYOTA TO BUY THE PICKUP BACK FROM US, AND SO FAR THEY HAVE REFUSED. *TR

I EXPERIENCED SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION IN MY 2005 TACOMA PICKUP WHILE PARKING. I WAS TURNING LEFT INTO A PARKING SPOT AND APPLYING THE BRAKE WHEN THE TACOMA SUDDENLY ACCELERATED JUMPING THE PARKING CURVE. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE BY APPLYING HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THROWING THE AUTOMATIC DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN PARK. I CHECKED TO SEE IF I COULD HAVE BEEN STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR BY MISTAKE BUT THE LOUD RUBBER SCREECHING OF THE TIRES WERE A SURE INDICATION THAT MY BRAKES WERE BEING APPLIED AS THE CAR SURGED FORWARD. ALSO I INSPECTED THE FLOOR MAT (WHICH HAD ALREADY BEEN INSPECTED BY TOYOTA) AND SAW THAT THERE WAS NO INTERFERENCE WITH THE ACCELERATOR. I DEFINITELY BELIEVE THERE IS A DEFECT IN THIS CAR AND THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS. THIS IS DANGEROUS. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED. IN 2006 I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. THEY SAID THERE WAS NONE AT THAT TIME. WHEN MY WIFE PICKED UP THE TRUCK LATER SHE IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT THE LOWER HALF OF THE PEDAL HAD BEEN CUT OFF AND THAT SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE THE VEHICLE, HER FOOT CANNOT REACH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. FINALLY, THE CAR SNAPS OUT OF IT AND I HAVE CONTROL AGAIN. I SLOW DOWN, SHIFT BACK INTO D AND CONTINUE MY COMMUTE TO SCHOOL. IN THE PAST, I HAVE NOTICED A FEW TIMES THERE HAVE BEEN A SLIGHT LUNGE IN ACCELERATION JUST AFTER THE TRANSMISSION SWITCHES GEARS. I LOVE MY TACOMA. DRIVER TAPPED BRAKE PEDAL TO TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THEN THE ENGINE STARTED TO RACE AND THE TRUCK PICKED UP SPEED. DRIVER PUT TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL AND HAD TO HIT GAS PEDAL AND DRIVE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET IT TO STOP RACING. DRIVER TOOK TRUCK TO DEALER WITH END 2 WEEKS FOR OIL CHANGE AND TOLD THEM OF INCIDENT. THEY CHECKED TRUCK AND FOUND NO CAUSE OR PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK. 3RD INCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON MARCH 7, 2008. DRIVER HAD CRUISE CONTROL SET AT ABOUT 64 MPH. DRIVER TAPPED BRAKE PEDAL TO TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE TRUCK ENGINE THEN STARTED TO RACE AND THE TRUCK STARTED TO FISH TAIL. WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE FLOOR MAT ISSUE, WHICH THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE, IT STATED WE WOULD BE INFORMED AS TO WHEN WE SHOULD BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR THAT REPAIR. SO FAR NO OTHER CONTACT HAS BEEN MADE. WITH BRINGING THIS ACCELERATION CONCERN TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER, WE WERE INFORMED THAT ALTHOUGH THE 95 TACOMAS ARE NOT IN THE ACCELERATOR RECALL, THEY WOULD LOOK AT THE GAS PEDDLE AND REPLACE IT IF NEEDED AT OUR EXPENSE MINUS LABOR COSTS. 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA--IT'S NOT THE FLOOR MAT! UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION PROBLEM. BACKING TO TURN AROUND, LOOKING OVER MY RIGHT SHOULDER AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. WHEN MOVING MY RIGHT FOOT FROM THROTTLE TO BRAKE, THE TRUCK SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND THE HARDER I BRAKED, THE FASTER IT WENT. STOPPED THE MOVEMENT BY SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. WHAT HAPPENED: IN THE POSITION I WAS IN, TWISTED TO LOOK OVER MY RIGHT SHOULDER, WHEN MOVING MY FOOT TO THE BRAKE, I INADVERTENTLY FAILED TO MOVE MY FOOT COMPLETELY ONTO TO THE BRAKE AND OFF THE THROTTLE. MY FOOT ENGAGED BOTH PEDALS AND THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE UNTIL THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED DOWN FAR ENOUGH TO ALSO PRESS ON THE THROTTLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES, FORTUNATELY IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THERE WERE NO COLLISIONS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES DOWN TOO LOW BEFORE ACTUALLY ACTIVATING THE BRAKES. THE SOLUTION IS TO DESIGN SO THAT THE BRAKES ENGAGE WHEN THE PEDAL IS A LITTLE HIGHER THAN THE THROTTLE. IS IT JUST ME? THE SEVERITY OF THE SURGE SEEMS TO BE PROPORTIONAL WITH THE VELOCITY OF THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO STOPPING (I.E. SURGE IS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN STOPPING FROM A HIGHER VELOCITY THAN FROM A LOWER VELOCITY). THE SURGE EVENT OCCURS ROUGHLY 2-3 SECONDS AFTER VEHICLE COMES TO A FULL STOP, AND LASTS PERHAPS 0.5 SECONDS THEN GOES AWAY. WHEN I RETURNED FROM SHOPPING AND BACK INTO MY TRUCK, I TURNED ON THE KEY AND THREW THE TRUCK INTO REVERSE. THE PETAL PULLED ITSELF TO THE FLOOR. IT LEFT MY FOOT AND WENT ALL THE WAY FORWARD. I HIT THE BRAKE AND IT WOULD NOT STOP, SO IN MY CONFUSION, I THREW IT INTO DRIVE AND IT LURCHED FORWARD EVEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE WHEELS WERE JUMPING AND THE TRUCK WAS INCHING FORWARD. EVERYONE AROUND ME WAS SCRAMBLING AWAY AS IT SOUNDED AS IF I HAD LITTLE TO NO CONTROL OVER THE ROARING ENGINE; YOU KNOW, SENSING SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I TURNED IT OVER AND OVER IN MY MIND WHAT HAD HAPPENED, TRYING NOT TO MISS A STEP. MY BOYFRIEND IS VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE MECHANICS OF A CAR, SO AS I EXPLAINED WHAT TOOK PLACE TO HIM AND HE SAID OVER AND OVER THAT IT DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. I WAS SURE I HAD NOT MISTAKENLY HIT THE ACCELERATOR AND THE FLOOR MAT WAS CLEARLY UNDER, NOT OVER THE PETAL. I CHALKED IT UP, ONCE AGAIN TO A MYSTERY BECAUSE NEITHER OF US COULD MAKE SENSE OF IT. SEVERAL DAYS AGO, WE DROVE TO DOWNTOWN NEW ORLEANS. I WAS DRIVING AND I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL AVOIDING THE SPEED TRAP. WE DROVE ABOUT 15 MILES AND PARKED IN A LARGE OUTDOOR PARKING LOT. WE WERE GONE FOR SEVERAL HOURS. WHEN WE GOT BACK TO THE TRUCK, HE DROVE. ABOUT ONE MINUTE OR LESS INTO DRIVE AND WHILE STILL GOING THROUGH THE PAID LOT JUST COMING UP TO RAILROAD TRACKS, HE PUT HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE TRUCK ACCELERATED FORWARD, THE PETAL ONCE AGAIN PULLING ITSELF TO THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK TAKING OFF LIKE A JET. HE HIT THE BRAKE AND I BELIEVE THREW THE TRUCK INTO PARK. I WAS SCARED TO DEATH AND THEN I FELT THAT I HAD BEEN VINDICATED! WHEN SHE JUMPED OUT, SHE INJURED HER LEFT KNEE, AND RIGHT ARM AND HAND. THE DRIVER IN THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS NOT INJURED. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCE IN THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE CRASH. I WAS APPROACHING A STOPLIGHT, PRESSING ON THE BRAKE TO COME TO A STOP BEHIND THE LINE OF CARS ALREADY WAITING AT THE LIGHT. RIGHT BEFORE MY TRUCK CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE ENGINE STARTING RACING. I PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKE, BUT THE TRUCK SURGED FORWARD 3 OR 4 FEET AND HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. WHILE I WAS PRESSING ON THE BRAKE, I COULD HEAR THE TIRES SCREECHING ON THE ROAD, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO TO STOP THE TRUCK BEFORE IT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *TR

ALTHOUGH IT HAS NOT CAUSED ANY ACCIDENTS THUS FAR, I'VE COME CLOSE IN MANY OCCASIONS AND NERVOUS AT LETTING MY WIFE DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING ON A NARROW MOUNTAIN ROAD WHEN I ACCELERATED PAST A VEHICLE IN THE SLOW LANE. WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS IT WAS STUCK TO THE FLOOR. I TOOK MY FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND IT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. MY CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ON. I HAD TO USE MY LEFT FOOT TO PRESS THE BRAKES TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED ACCELERATING AND ONLY STOPPED AFTER I REPEATEDLY STOMPED ON THE GAS PEDAL. MY WIFE WAS WITH ME AT THE TIME AND WITNESSED IT. I JUST LEARNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM VIA THE NEWSCAST AND HAVE NOT REPORTED IT TO TOYOTA YET. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE DRAMATICALLY ACCELERATED. NO PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT THE TIME. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO PARK TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND HEARD A LOUD REVVING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. A COMPLAINT HAS NOT BEEN FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN SO MANY TIMES, ONE TIME STOPPING FOR A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING IN FRONT OF ME AND THE TRUCK TRYING TO PULL FORWARD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY JUST TOLD ME IT WA S NORMAL OR THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
MAY 30, I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT KIEWIT MIDDLE SCHOOL WITH MY TACOMA. WHILE I WAS APPROXIMATELY 5-10 FEET FROM THE CAR IN FRONT THE ENGINE BEGIN RACING. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE ACCELERATOR, IT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE. THE ENGINE CONTINUED REVVING AND THE BRAKES FINAL GAVE AND I HIT THE CAR AHEAD. AS IT IS I DAMAGED THE FRONT OF MY TACOMA, AS WELL AS THE REAR OF CAR AHEAD OF ME. I AM SURE IF THERE WERE NOT A VEHICLE AHEAD AT SUCH A CLOSE DISTANCE GREAT DAMAGE AND INJURY WOULD HAVE BEEN INCURRED. I DO NOT FEEL THAT CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE, I CONTACTED TOYOTA, NATIONAL -- THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS OK AND TO TAKE IT HOME. I FELT SO STRONGLY THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE THAT I IMMEDIATELY TRADED IT IN FOR A NISSAN -- IF YOU NEED MORE INFORMATION OF WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK WITH OTHERS THAT SAW WHAT HAPPENED PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I HAVE ALSO KEPT ALL RECEIPTS AND DOCUMENTATION FROM TOYOTA. BTW -- ACCORDING TO TOYOTA -- YOU GUYS DON'T EXIST. -- I STUMBLED UPON YOUR INFORMATION IN THE BACK OF MY NEW NISSAN'S OWNER MANUAL.

WHILE USING THE CRUISE CONTROL AT FREEWAY SPEED, DRIVING UP AN INCLINE. THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED VIOLENTLY TWO GEARS FROM 5TH TO 3RD. ACTUAL SPEED ACCELERATION HAPPENED ENOUGH TO NEARLY CAUSE A REAR END COLLISION. I HAD TO MANUALLY CANCEL CRUISE CONTROL TO REGAIN SAFE CONTROL....*JB

WHILE PASSING SEVERAL RADAR SIGNS, I NOTICED MY TRUCKS SPEEDOMETER WAS READING ABOUT 8% ABOVE THE ACTUAL SPEED I WAS TRAVELING. A CHECK AT A "SPEEDOMETER CHECK" WHERE THEY HAVE MILEAGE SIGNS EVERY MILE FOR SEVERAL MILES ALSO CONFIRMED THIS. A TRIP WITH MY GPS ALSO SHOWED THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INACCURATE. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED MY TRUCK ON THEIR SMOG DYNO AND SAID MY SPEEDOMETER WAS ONLY 1 MPH OFF AT 40 MPH. THEY INFERRED THAT SATELLITES, POLICE RADAR AND MY WRIST WATCH ARE LESS ACCURATE THAN THEIR SMOG TEST DYNO, NOT LIKELY. I'M GETTING RIPPED OFF FOR 8% OF MY WARRANTY! *JB

MY IN CAR GPS SYSTEM SHOWS IT DOING 75 MPH WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER (IN DASH)SHOWS IT DOING 80, 66 MPH WHEN DOING 70 ON THE SPEEDOMETER. SO IF DOING A MINIMUM SPEED POSTING OF 45 MPH I WOULD BE DOING ONLY 43 MPH ON THE SPEEDOMETER. TOYOTA CLAIMS THAT THE SPEEDOMETER IS WITH IN TOLLERANCE AND WILL NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE. *JB
