The truck's frame has severely rusted. The frame has deteriorated. It is unsafe to drive as the frame is breaking in half. According to Toyota, this was a huge problem with the 2006 Tacoma. They will not fix the frame or offer any solution. My son can not safely drive this vehicle.

Brought vehicle to garage for maintenance and mechanic told me the vehicle is unsafe to drive due to rotted frame should have been recalled but I never received a recall notice

I will try to give you as concise statement of my complaint as possible, however, I have copies I sent to the manufacturer and others that I'm willing to furnish you if requested. On 3/18/21, I wrote to Toyota's Executive VP , Chief Quality Officer, [XXX], stating my compliance with their notice of 7/9/15, requiring frame inspection, significant perforation not found, therefore they applied CRC corrosion resistant compound to my frame. As NO critical problem was noted, I felt I was good until during a later inspection was performed and rated more attention. On 3/29/21 during my next oil change I noted on a notation on an unusual service bill, typewritten not the usual custom printed type, a notation that I have 2 holes, approx. 3.5" on my frame, use caution if driving". At this time I found there was an open class action suit against Toyota. Toyota advised me that since I had not responded to more than one notification I was not included in the suit. I replied that "I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY SUCH NOTATION". As they did not send receipt requested or certified, I neither could prove sent or not received. I asked for consideration based on that to which, was denied. I have written also to CT Attorney General, CT US Senator, [XXX], with only the Attorney General's office stating Toyota's response was negative. I realize this is a late request, I was not aware of his avenue. I have Certified copies of each request for help, which I am more than happy to copy and send to you if you will try to help me right Toyota's wrong. I'm an 89 year old male just trying to right a wrong I believe done to me. I DID NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION FROM TOYOTA! , If I had, I would not be so persistent. I send my letters CERTIFIED, they should have had to also, could have solved this problem earlier. Please help me, thank you. The frame is rusted so bad. The dealer wouldn’t replace due to the vehicle being registered in Florida as it’s not one of the states affected. But my Toyota came from a Pennsylvania dealer first then shipped to Florida after years of being in Pennsylvania and not having an issue up there. Now I’m stuck with a truck I can’t sell or fix. It’s not right. Where is the quality control on this.

My 2006 Toyota Tacoma Chassis has Rust issues. At my last Oil Change my Mechanic recommended I go to My Toyota Dealer with The Problem. A few years back I was under The Truck and noticed it as well. I notified Crestmont Toyota in Pompton Plains NJ about it. They assured me it was inspected and during The Recall and was found to be safe and without issues. After going back and forth with them [the recall is over] I called Toyota Corporate about my issue. They basically said the same thing. I even went as far as to put my truck an a Lift and paint the chassis with POR-15 Rust Preventative Coating. I see some areas on the chassis around where the Shock Absorbers are welded to the Chassis where I couldn't get to. Is there anyone that could help me in my dilemma? I only have around 100,000 miles on this 17 year old truck. I bought it 7 years ago used from Crestmont Toyota with 52,000 miles on it.I'm retired since 10/2015 and thought it would be my last Vehicle I would need to purchase. Thank You Thomas J. 1. Frame was replaced under recall due to excessive corrosion, and now it's corroding again and should be replaced. also the trailer hitch is excessively corroded and was not replaced during the recall. I pull trailers all the time with this truck and don't want there to be failure with the hitch due to excessive corrosion. 2. The body paint and clear coat on this vehicle is weak and needs constant attention, and the body material turns to rust right away. This subject needs attention.

On June 26, 2021, I took my 2006 Toyota Tacoma to Bennett Toyota for regular maintenance. As part of the inspection, I was notified that the "Frame very rusted, perforation may begin on cab mounts in the next year" and the Service Advisor told me that my car would be unsafe to drive in a year or two. I told the Service Advisor that in 2015, I received a recall notice from Toyota regarding frame rust and took my 2006 Toyota Tacoma to Bennett Toyota to address the issue. On April 22, 2015, Bennett Toyota provided "Corrosion-Resistant Compound (CRC) Application; Remove Rust - Clean Frame - No Rust Perforation Found". Again on March 29, 2018, I requested that Bennett Toyota inspect the frame for corrosion perforation and was notified that "No Significant Perforation Found". The Service Advisor stated that the extended warranty had expired and there was nothing Bennett Toyota could do to address the rusted frame. I then called Toyota and opened case# 210628002014 to request the rusted frame be addressed/replaced/repaired and was told that the extended warranty had expired and there was nothing that Toyota would do to address the issue. I have a Toyota Tacoma with a known issue that is quickly becoming unsafe to drive and have no way to repair/replace the rusted frame.

THIS VEHICLE IS COVERED IN THE TOYOTA RUSTY FRAME LAWSUIT. AS SUCH, IT HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS AND DEEMED NOT TO NEED A FRAME REPLACEMENT BOTH TIMES. IT WAS TREATED WITH CRC. ITS LAST INSPECTION WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 2018. ON SUNDAY, MAY 17TH, 2020, THE FRAME BROKE AT THE FRONT CROSS-MEMBER CAUSING THE LEFT FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM TO SEPARATE AND STEERING THE VEHICLE/CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE BECAME NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. FORTUNATELY FOR ME, THIS HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND TURNING LEFT (IN REVERSE AT LOW SPEED) AFTER A FULL 2 WEEKS OF DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS OF WEST VIRGINIA. I QUESTION ALL INSPECTIONS OF FRAMES BEING PERFORMED WITHIN THE TOYOTA DEALER NETWORK AND HOPE THAT NOBODY HAS THIS FAILURE WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING AT SPEED AS THE RESULTS WILL BE CATASTROPHIC. *TR

MY 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA WAS RECALLED DUE TO TOYOTA'S FRAME RUST AND CORROSION ISSUE. AFTER NOTIFICATION, JULY 2015, I BROUGHT MY CAR TO TOYOTA OF WALLINGFORD (DEALER) AS INSTRUCTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE FOR A FRAME INSPECTION. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE TRUCK FRAME AND SAID IT WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A NEW FRAME AS THE FRAME PASSED THEIR INSPECTION. I DISPUTED THIS BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO PUSH MY FINGER THROUGH PARTS OF THE FRAME. THEY INSISTED THAT THE INTEGRITY WAS SOUND. THEIR RECOMMENDATION WAS TO SPRAY THE CAR WITH A CORROSION RESISTANT COVERING (CRC). AFTER SOME DEBATE I TOOK THEIR RECOMMENDATION AND AUTHORIZED THE WORK. THE CRC WAS A THICK BLACK GEL THAT COVERED THE FRAME, SO RUST, ROT AND DETERIORATION WAS COMPLETELY HIDDEN. IN RETROSPECT, I BELIEVE THEY INTENTIONALLY COVERED THE RUST SO ISSUES COULD NOT BE DETECTED AND RE-INSPECTION DID NOT OCCUR. RECENTLY I HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES ON THE TRUCK. WHEN THE TIRE DEALER PUT THE TRUCK ON THE LIFT HE NOTICED THE FRAME WAS BOWING AND LARGE PIECES OF THE FRAME WERE MISSING. THE CRC WAS STILL COVERING THE RUST BUT LARGE HOLES IN THE FRAME WERE DETECTED. THE TIRE SPECIALIST WOULD NOT WORK ON THE TRUCK DUE TO THE UNSTABLE FRAME, SO I QUICKLY CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALER TO RE-INSPECT THE FRAME. THEY CONCLUDED THAT THE FRAME WAS ROTTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED, BUT INFORMED ME THAT THE DEADLINE UNDER THE RECALL HAD JUST PASSED ON 1/31/19. THEY WOULD NOT COVER ANY REPAIRS ALTHOUGH I FOLLOWED EVERY STEP AND ENDURED EVERY INCONVENIENCE FOR A ROT ISSUE THAT THEY WERE ALWAYS RESPONSIBLE FOR. UNSATISFIED WITH THE DEALER'S RESPONSE, I CONTACTED TOYOTA DIRECTLY AND THEY REAFFIRMED THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE FRAME. TOYOTA DID NOT RESOLVE ALL ISSUES RELATED TO THEIR FAULTY FRAMES. THEY BRILLIANTLY CAME UP WITH A SOLUTION THAT HID THE RUST AND ROT AND SAVED THE COMPANY MILLIONS BY MASKING THE ISSUE AND NOT REPLACING THE BAD FRAMES.

DEALER DID NOT APPLY THE CORROSION RESISTANT COMPOUND TO THE FRAME DURING THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PERIOD AS I REQUESTED. THEY DID NOT NOTIFY ME WHEN THEY WERE CAPABLE OF DOING SO UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED.AS A RESULT DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD, THE FRAME DEVELOPED MAJOR RUST PERFORATION RESULTING IN FRAME CRACKING.AT THAT POINT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.THE DEALER ALSO WOULD NOT REPLACE THE FRAME AS PER THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM. I MADE NO PROGRESS WITH EAST MADISON TOYOTA OR TOYOTA CORPORATE OVER THIS ISSUE.I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE, THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND ALSO CONTACTED DATCP. I AM BASICALLY GETTING NOWHERE WITH THIS ISSUE AND AM LEFT WITH A VEHICLE SITTING IN THE BACKYARD USELESS.IF THEY KNOW THE FRAME IS FAULTY WHY DON'T THEY FIX IT ? I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

I RECEIVED A LETTER IN 2014 ABOUT POSSIBLE FRAME RUST ISSUES AND WAS ASKED TO HAVE MINE CHECKED AT A TOYOTA DEALER. I TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD MY FRAME WAS OK BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY SPRAYED A RUST INHIBITOR ON THE FRAME TO BE SURE. I WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT POSSIBLE REAR LEAF SPRINGS IN 2017. I TOOK THE VECHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALER (STEVEN TOYOTA IN HARRISONBURG VA.) AND THEY REPLACED THE REAR SPRINGS BUT SAID NOTHING ABOUT THE FRAME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TOOK AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC IN AUGUST 2019 TO HAVE A MUFFLE INSTALLED AND THEY CONTACTED ME AND INFORMED ME THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS RUSTED BADLY RUSTED OUT. ON FUTHER INSPECTION IT WAS FOUND THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SPRAYED WITH RUST INHIBITOR ONLY THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRAME WAS SPRAYED, NOTHING UNDER THE VEHICLE WAS SPRAYED AND THAT IS WHERE THE DAMAGE IS NOW. AT LEAST 2 OF THE CROSS MEMBERS HAVE RUSTED INTO 2 SEPARATE PIECES SO THEY NOW SUPPORT NOTHING. I REPORTED THE ISSUE TO TOYOTA CORP. AND THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I ALSO REPORTED IT TO STEVEN TOYOTA IN HARRISONBURG VA AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD THE RECORDS OF THE VEHICLE FRAME BEING SPRAYED IN 2014 AND SPRINGS BEING REPLACE IN 2017 BUT THEY ALSO REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IN MY OPINION AND IN OTHER MECHANICS I HAVE SPOKEN WITH WHEN THE SPRINGS WERE REPLACED IN 2017 THE RUST ISSUE HAD TO BE NOTICED BECAUSE OF HOW BADLY IT IS RUSTED AT THIS TIME.

I JUST PULLED MY TRUCK INTO MY FRIEND'S DRIVEWAY. CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WENT TO SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION FROM DRIVE INTO PARK. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE ENGINE REVS UP, THE WHEELS SPIN; I'M STANDING ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP MY TRUCK FROM ADVANCING FORWARD. BUT MY TRUCK PULLS FORWARD AND CRASHES THROUGH MY FRIEND'S GARAGE DOOR. I FINALLY GOT IT TO STOP BY COMPLETING THE SHIFT INTO PARK AND LETTING OFF ON THE BRAKE. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO OTHER CAR IN THE GARAGE, AND NO ONE GOT HURT.

DEALER IS BACKING OUT OF THEIR WORD BECAUSE CAMPAIGN ENDED 3 MONTHS LATER--WAS TOLD CAMPAIGN WOULD BE GOOD FOR SEVERAL MORE YEAR. SERVICE ADVISER NEVER CHECKED ENDING DATE. EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLES ARE RUSTED AGAIN--FIXED SEVERAL TIMES--POOR PRODUCT. REAR DIFFERENTIAL COVER PLUG RUSTED BEYOND ABLE TO REMIOVE TO CHANGE FLUID--ANOTHER HUGE RUST ISSUE WITH TACOMA TRUCKS--NOT JUST THE FRAME. THE STEERING MECHANISM, TIMING BELT PULLEYS, WIRING SUPPORTS, ETC --ANYTHING THAT IS METAL IS CORRODED BECAUSE OF THE POOR QUALITY OF STEEL--JUST NOT THE FRAME. THE TIMING PULLEYS WERE SO CORRODED THAT THEY CUT MY BEL--LUCKY FOR ME IT STILL HAD 50% OF IT REMAINING AND DID NOT BLOW ENGINE--TRUCK HAD 63,000 MILES ON IT AT TIME. TOLD TO BRING TRUCK IN FOR REAR SPRINGS CAMPAIGN--I DID--THEY DON'T HAVE THE IN STALLION KITS--BEEN BACK ORDERED FOR MONTHS. CAMPAIGN SAYS THEY COULD RUPTURE THE GAS TANK AND END IN DISASTER--ANY YOU DON'T HAVE PARTS!!!

MY TRUCK GOT TWO RECALLS 1) DUE TO RUSTY FRAME 2) REAR LEAF SPRING AND TOYOTA REPLACED BOTH LAST MARCH 2015. THIS WAS DONE AT METRO TOYOTA IN BROOKPARK ROAD CLEVELAND OHIO. HOWEVER, THE STRAP THAT HOLD THE GASOLINE TANK WERE ALSO RUSTY BUT WAS NOT REPLACED. JUST THIS JUNE 29, 2016, I NOTICED THAT SOMETHING WAS HANGING UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK'S BED. ONE OF THE STRAP WAS BROKEN AND THE GASOLINE TANK WAS LOOSE AND ALREADY BOUNCING AND ABOUT TO FALL AS THE OTHER STRAP WAS ABOUT TO GIVE WAY TOO. I WAS JUST LUCKY THAT DAY AS I NOTICED IT BEFORE ANY SEVERE ACCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE ON THE ROAD. I JUST DON'T KNOW SINCE WHEN THE STRAP WAS BROKEN BUT NOTICED THE TRUCK REAR BECAME TOO BOUNCY WHILE ON MOTION. I THINK THE STRAP SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACE TOO WHEN TOYOTA REPLACE THE FRAME AND THE REAR LEAF SPRING. NOT REPLACING THE STRAP PUT MY LIFE WAS PLACED MORE IN DANGER AS ANYTIME IF THE TANK FALL OFF, IT WILL CAUSE FIRE AND MIGHT EVEN INVOLVE INNOCENT PEOPLE THAT ARE DRIVING NEXT TO ME. I WAS NOT ABLE TO TAKE A PHOT OF THE BROKEN STRAP BUT I WENT STRAIGHT TO METRO TOYOTA FOR A WALK IN SERVICE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A SAFETY CONCERN AND CAN DRIVE MY CAR. I DON'T HAVE ANY CHOICE BUT TO GET IT FIXED BUT I WAS CHARGED WITH ALL THE COST. I GRATEFUL THAT NOTHING HAPPENED WITH THAT CONDITION BUT NOT HAPPY WITH THE RECALL PROCESS. I WAS TOLD THE STRAP WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. BUT TO ME THAT IS THE MOST CRITICAL PART THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE PRIORITY FOR REPLACEMENT THAN THE REAR LEAF SPRING. LEAF SPRING ARE TOO THICK THAT WON'T GIVE WAY COMPARED TO THE STRAP THE HOLD THE TANK FULL OF GASOLINE. THIS WILL OBVIOUSLY CAUSE FIRE ONCE IT FALL OFF THE ROAD WHILE IN MOTION. I HAVE THE COPY OF THE RECEIPT THAT WILL SERVE AS THE PROOF OF MY COMPLAIN.

I OWN A 2006 TACOMA, WITH 67,800 MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED IT FROM A DEALERSHIP IN 2013; IT HAD 34,000 MILES ON IT THEN. I RECEIVED CORRESPONDENCE FROM TOYOTA IN 2014 THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE FRAME INSPECTED FOR EXCESSIVE RUST. THE SAME DEALERSHIP DID THE INSPECTION AND FOUND IT ELIGIBLE ONLY FOR THE UNDERCOAT SPRAY. LAST WEEK, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SPRING LEAF (PURSUANT TO A SEPARATE RECALL) AND ADVISED ME THAT THE FRAME HAS EXCESSIVE RUST, CRACKS AND PERFORATION. RUSTING FRAME. MY MECHANIC NOTED IT DURING A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO TOYOTA AS HE HAD ONE OTHER CUSTOMER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT TOYOTA HAD REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE FRAME. MY EXPERIENCE WAS DIFFERENT. I WAS TOLD THAT TOYOTA DID CONDUCT A "CAMPAIGN" TO INSPECT AFFECTED VEHICLES IN THE 2005 TO 2008 RANGE. THEY CLAIMED THEY SENT OUT RECALL NOTICES BUT I RECEIVED NO SUCH NOTICE. TOYOTA NOW REFUSES TO INSPECT OR REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THERE IS NO WAY OF TELLING HOW MANY OTHER TOYOTA TRUCKS FROM THIS ERA ARE STILL ON THE ROAD AND WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF A FRAME FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING ON A ROADWAY. TOYOTA'S DECISION TO ARBITRARILY SET AN EXPIRATION DATE IS NO WAY TO TREAT A SAFETY PROBLEM. THE FACT THAT TOYOTA HAD A CAMPAIGN IS ITSELF AN ADMISSION THAT A PROBLEM EXISTS. NOW IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

TOYOTA IS ONLY REPLACING FRAMES IF THEY EXHIBIT PERFORATION AT THE TIME OF INSPECTION. IF NO PERFORATION, THEY ARE SPRAYING CORROSION RESISTANT COMPOUND WHICH IS NOT ADEQUATE TO REMEDY THE IMPROPER MANUFACTURING OF THE EQUIPMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. MY TACOMA WAS RECALLED FOR RUST ON THE FRAME. A NEW FRAME WAS ORDERED BUT I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY RUSTED PARTS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHEN THE FRAME WAS INSTALLED. I DIDN'T THINK YOU PAID FOR SAFETY RECALL WORK. I CALLED TOYOTA AND ASKED FOR A GUIDELINE AS TO WHAT COSTS WOULD BE MINE AND I HOPED A LITTLE SUPPORT IN DEALING WITH THE DEALER. I DON'T THINK TOYOTA TRUSTS THE DEALER. THEY WERE NO HELP. THIS SAFETY REPAIR WOULD COST ME THOUSANDS WITH THERE BEING NO LIMITS AS TO WHAT THE TOTAL WOULD BE. IF YOU REPLACE A FRAME ON A 10 YEAR OLD TRUCK YOU CAN EXPECT SOME RUSTED BOLTS AND FITTINGS. I DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR A SAFETY RECALL, BUT THE COST WOULD BE OPEN ENDED. THERE ARE NO LIMITS OR CRITERIA AS TO WHAT WOULD COVERED AND WHAT IS NOT. TOYOTA DOES NOT SEEM TO REALLY WANT TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT. THE LETTER FROM TOYOTA STATED THAT THE DEALER WILL PROVIDE AN APPROPRIATE REMEDY AT NO CHARGE TO ME. WHAT DO I DO? THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY HELP COMING.

EARLY IN 2014 I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM TOYOTA ABOUT A CONCERN WITH THE FRAME RUSTING OUT TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014 I HAD THE FRAME INSPECTED BY PRIME TOYOTA IN SACO, MAINE, WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN OCTOBER OF 2006. THE FRAME WAS INSPECTED AND FOUND TO BE FREE OF CONCERNS REGARDING THE FRAME RUST ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT IF THE FRAME DID NOT SHOW SIGNS OF RUST IT WOULD BE RESPRAYED WITH RUST PROOFING MATERIAL. THE RESPRAYING WAS COMPLETED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014. IN OCTOBER OF 2015 I WAS NOTICING A RATTLE UNDER BY TRUCK AND CRAWLED UNDER TO SEE WHAT WAS MAKING THE RATTLE. I FOUND A LOOSE HEAT SHIELD AROUND THE MUFFLER AND AT THAT TIME NOTICED THAT THE RUST PROOFING MATERIAL THAT HAD BEEN APPLIED WAS ALMOST ALL GONE. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THEM TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE FRAME. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE FRAME HAD A PERFORATION. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TOYOTA 1-800-331-4331 WITH CASE #1601273298 AND SPOKE TO CASE MGR NICOLE. I WAS INFORMED THAT BECAUSE THEY HAD RESPRAYED THE FRAME THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE FRAME RUST. MY POSITION IS THAT EITHER THE INSPECTION WAS NOT DONE CORRECTLY AND OR THE RUST PROOFING WAS IMPROPERLY APPLIED. HENCE THE RUST PROOFING FALLING OFF AND A RUSTY FRAME. I HAD CALLED A SECOND TIME WITH THE SAME RESULT. I WAS NOT INFORMED AT THE TIME THAT IF THEY RESPRAYED THE FRAME I WOULD FORFEIT ALL FURTHER CLAIMS FOR THE RUSTY FRAME. THE ISSUE OF 2005 - 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA FRAME RUST IS WIDELY KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED. ATTACHED ARE THE SERVICE RECORDS FROM 2014 THAT THE INSPECTION WAS DONE AND THE RUST PROOFING APPLIED. NOWHERE IN THERE DOES IT SAY THAT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE FOR THE RUST PROOFING.

TOYOTA SENT ME A NOTICE LAST YEAR CALLED A "LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN" FOR "CERTAIN 2005 THROUGH 2008 MODEL YEAR TACOMA VEHICLES CORROSION-RESISTANT COMPOUND APPLICATION TO THE VEHICLE'S FRAME". THE NOTICE SAID THAT THESE TACOMAS' FRAMES WERE RUSTING MORE THAN USUAL DUE TO INSUFFICIENT CORROSION PROTECTION. THE CAMPAIGN APPLIED ONLY TO COLD WEATHER STATES LIKE MINNESOTA. IT WENT ON TO SAY THAT I SHOULD BRING MY TACOMA TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND HAVE THE FRAME INSPECTED FOR DAMAGE. JAN. 2015: I BROUGHT MY TACOMA TO MAPLEWOOD TOYOTA IN MINNESOTA. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FRAME WAS INDEED DAMAGED WITH HOLES AND PERFORATIONS ALREADY PRESENT. THEY SAID TOYOTA WOULD REPLACE THE FRAME AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS FOR THE FRAME TO ARRIVE, PLUS TIME TO REPLACE IT. WE WERE GOING TO MOVE TO COLORADO IN THE SPRING SO I DECIDED TO HAVE THE WORK DONE THERE. MAPLEWOOD TOYOTA SAID THAT WAS FINE. WE MOVED TO LOVELAND, COLORADO ON JUNE 19, 2015. I THEN CONTACTED THE TOYOTA NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THEM AND ASKED IF I COULD BRING MY TACOMA TO PEDERSEN TOYOTA IN FORT COLLINS, COLORADO, WHICH IS RIGHT NEXT TO LOVELAND. THEY SAID OK. THEIR FINDINGS WERE THE SAME: DAMAGED FRAME WITH HOLES AND PERFORATIONS. THEY ALSO SAID THE TRUCK WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY WOULD GIVE ME A RENTAL FOR THE 5 MONTHS. BUT THEN THEY SAID THAT WHILE THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE FRAME, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY RUSTED-ON PARTS THEY WOULD BREAK, AND I SHOULD EXPECT TO PAY 2 TO 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THAT! I CALLED THE NATIONAL TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING. THEY ALSO SAID TOYOTA IS NOT ADMITTING TO DEFECTIVE CORROSION PROTECTION, AND THAT IT ISN'T A RECALL. I TOLD THEM IT WASN'T RIGHT TO MAKE ME PAY FOR PARTS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME THAT THEY BREAK BECAUSE THEY DID A DEFECTIVE JOB IN THE FIRST PLACE. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO! PLEASE HELP ME.

I WAS INSTRUCTED TO HAVE IT INSPECTED BY A TOYOTA DEALER. ON TUESDAY, FEB 4, 2014, THE TRUCK WAS INSPECTED BY ALLEGHENY TOYOTA IN FRANKLIN, PA. ON THE 5TH OF FEB. (YESTERDAY) THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED AND INFORMED ME THAT TOYOTA WOULD NOT RECTIFY THE PROBLEM BUT I COULD, AT MY OWN EXPENSE, COVER THE RUST PROBLEM WITH SOME KIND OF COATING. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FRAME RUST PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 TACOMA. IN THE PAST TOYOTA ADMITTED THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH EARLIER BUILT TACOMAS AND CORRECTED THEM EITHER BY REPLACING THE FRAMES OR MONETARY COMPENSATION. I WOULD LIKE MY TRUCK REPAIRED . ON THE 26TH OF MARCH 2010 ABOUT 3:00 PM, I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA AND GOT ONTO INTERSTATE 80 GOING WEST AND BEGAN TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. AS I ACCELERATED TO GET IN FRONT OF A WHITE SEMI-TRACTOR TRAILER, I REALIZED I WAS ACCELERATING FASTER THAN I WAS PUSHING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL. MY TRUCK ACCELERATED AS IF IT WANTED TO GO FASTER THAN I DID, AND SO I LET MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. BUT, MY TOYOTA TACOMA STILL INCREASED IN SPEED, AND THE GAS PEDAL SEEMED SOFT AS IF THE TRUCK WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL. REALIZING THAT MY SPEED WAS 80 AND RISING RAPIDLY, I PUSHED DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CAR BARELY SLOWED DOWN AND SPED RIGHT BACK UP CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE AS SOON AS I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE. SO, I PRESSED DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH ALL MY FORCE, BUT THE TRUCK DID NOT SLOW DOWN SUFFICIENTLY TO SAFELY PULL OVER. SO, THEN, I PUT ONE FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND USED THE OTHER TO PUSH DOWN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE TRUCK DECELERATED ENOUGH TO ALLOW ME TO PULL OVER INTO THE FAR RIGHT LANE. THE CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL DESPITE APPLICATION OF BOTH BRAKES, AND SO I THREW THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. THIS SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED AS OF TODAY.

MY SON TOOK HIS NEW 3 MONTH OLD 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER ON 12-12-05 FOR "HIGH IDLING" AND "WHEN ACCELERATING CUSTOMER HAVING A HARD TIME STOPPING IT" ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE.THIS VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL TWO TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED ON A SURFACE STREET SPEEDING UP FROM 40 MPH TO 80 MPH AND THE SECOND TIME HE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. IT SPED UP FROM 70 MPH TO 110. BOTH TIMES MY SON SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL - INSTINCTIVE REACTION - AND THE TRUCK DID SLOW DOWN. HAD THE TRAFFIC BEEN BAD, HE AND OTHERS, WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED FOR SURE. BOTH TIMES, HE TOOK HIS FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR AND HE COULD SEE IT MOVING DOWN TOWARDS THE FLOOR ALL BY ITSELF. IT STILL HAS AN IDLING PROBLEM. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE AT 20 MPH ON A CITY STREET, THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE RESULTING IN A REAR IMPACT CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE FLOOR MAT HAD SLIPPED OUT OF THE FLOORBOARD RETAINER CLIP AND TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAUSING THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION.
