RUNAWAY VEHICLE REPORTED FRIDAY, 04/24/2020. HAPPENED AGAIN FRIDAY 05/01/2020, AND TODAY 05/04/2020. SIX TIMES NOW I HAVE REPORTED. FRIDAY AND TODAY I WAS BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. STARTED UP, HAD FOOT ON BRAKE, PUT IN REVERSE, AND THROTTLE WENT WIDE OPEN. TURNED SWITCH OFF, PUT IN PARK, AND STARTED UP. ALL OK.THOUGHT A/C COMPRESSOR MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH ELECTRONICS, BUT A/C WAS OFF ON 05/01/20. I HAVE A ELECTRO / MECHANICS TECH DEGREE AND HAVE WORKED IN APPLIANCE SHOP OVER 15 YEARS. WORKED IN VEHICLE SHOPS OVER 25 YEARS. CURRENTLY SCHOOL BUS PARTS SPECIALIST FOR GWINNETT BOE. I KNOW FROM INTERNET THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NOBODY WANTS TO FIX. I HAVE WRITTEN TO SENATOR, CONGRESSMAN, TOYOTA CORP AMERICA. THEY WANT TO BLAME PROBLEM ON FLOOR MATS. AT TIMES I DID NOT HAVE ANY MATS IN. LAST TWO TIME I HAD WEATHER TECH CUSTOM FIT HARD PLASTIC MATS IN VEHICLE. I CAN'T SELL AS-IS, AS I DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO GET KILLED IN IT.SO AS A TAX PAYING AMERICAN, I AM STUCK WITH WHAT EVERYONE KNOWS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT HAS KILLED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE AND NO ONE CARES. MY WIFE HAS INFO ON REPORT FROM ELECTRONIC ENGINEER FIRM THAT WON CASES IN COURT. I TOLD HER WHEN I DIE IN ACCIDENT, FILE LAW SUIT AGAINST TOYOTA AND US GOVERNMENT AS THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD ABOUT THE PROBLEM. MY TRUCK WENT THREE YEARS WITHOUT DOING THIS. NOW HAS RUN AWAY THREE TIMES IN ONE WEEK! I COULD UPLOAD THE REPORT IF NEEDED, BUT YOU PROBABLY ALREADY HAVE SEVERAL COPIES.

MY TOYOTA TACOMA WILL SUDDENLY ACCELERATE FROM A DEAD STOP. I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND THE ENGINE SPED UP; I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES, BACK WHEELS SPINNING. I PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL. ANOTHER TIME I WAS BACKING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND IT DID IT AGAIN, IN REVERSE! AGAIN, NEUTRAL STOPPED IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND I'M AFRAID I'M GOING TO KILL MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE! NO, I DID NOT HAVE A FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKE! THIS HAPPENS AFTER I'VE HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, THEN TURNED IT OFF. AND AGAIN, IT HAPPENS FROM A DEAD STOP. I HAVE A COMPLAINT NUMBER FROM TOYOTA. THE DEALER DID DIAGNOSTICS AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. SO TOYOTA WILL DO NOTHING. I AM CONTACTING YOU TO MAKE PUBLIC WHAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING WITH MY TACOMA IN CASE OF A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT. I HAVE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED 2 SEPARATE OCCURRENCES OF SUDDEN UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION IN MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE FIRST INSTANCE WAS ON FEBRUARY 25, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 12:50 P.M. I WAS SLOWING TO STOP AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION BEHIND A VEHICLE. IN THE LAST SEVERAL FEET PRIOR TO STOPPING, I BEGAN BREAKING WITH MY FOOT UNTIL THE CAR WAS WITHIN ABOUT 10 FEET OF STOPPING. COMPLETELY OUT OF THE BLUE, THE REAR WHEELS STARTED SPINNING WILDLY AND SIMULTANEOUSLY MY ENGINE RPM INCREASED TREMENDOUSLY. IN ORDER TO KEEP FROM HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, I STOMPED HARD ON THE BRAKE WITH TWO FEET. WHEN I REALIZED I WASN'T GOING TO STOP, I QUICKLY SHIFTED THE GEARSHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. THE RPM SETTLED DOWN AND THE TIRES STOPPED SQUEALING. I THEN SHIFTED TO PARK UNTIL I COMPOSED MYSELF. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PROCEEDED TO SHIFT BACK INTO DRIVE AND CONTINUED ON TO WORK WITHOUT FURTHER TROUBLE THAT DAY. THE SECOND INSTANCE WAS ON FEBRUARY 26, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:10 P.M. I WAS RETURNING HOME FROM WORK AND PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY TO PARK THE TRUCK. AS I PULLED TOWARD THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY, I HAD SLOWLY ACCELERATED UP THE SLIGHTLY INCLINED DRIVEWAY, THEN SLOWLY STARTED TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. JUST AS I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO STOP, THE SAME THING OCCURRED. MY REAR WHEELS STARTED SPINNING WILDLY AND THE ENGINE RPM SHOT UP VERY HIGH. I PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE TRUCK FROM ENTERING THE BACK YARD, BUT THE TIRES WERE LAYING RUBBER ON THE DRIVEWAY. I QUICKLY SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, THEN INTO PARK, AND TURNED OFF THE KEY. THE TRUCK HAS SAT IN THE DRIVEWAY SINCE BECAUSE I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED FOR MY SON TO DRIVE AFTER HE RECEIVED HIS LICENSE. FORTUNATELY, I HAD NOT YET TURNED THE KEYS OVER TO HIM, AS AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER, HE WOULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT, OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE.

MY TACOMA TRUCK EXPERIENCED AN UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION ISSUE AT AN INTERSECTION STOP SIGN. THE TRUCK WENT ABOUT 8 FT PAST THE STOP SIGN AS I PUSHED HARD ON THE BRAKE. WITH THE VEHICLE STOPPED THE RIGHT REAR TIRE CONTINUED TO SPIN FOR A FEW SECONDS AND LEFT A BLACK SKID MARK IN THE ROAD. AS QUICK AS THE INCIDENT STARTED THE TRUCK RETURNED TO A NORMAL IDLE. I EXPRESS MY CONCERN THIS WAS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE, HE REPLIED THIS WAS TOYOTA SOLUTION TO THE SURGE PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE WAY THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS ARE CONFIGURED I FREQUENTLY HIT THE GAS PEDAL ALONG WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN DEPRESSED GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THE PEDALS ARE SO CLOSE TOGETHER THAT THE GAS PEDAL IS SOMETIMES CAUGHT BY THE EDGE OF MY SHOE WHILE BRAKING CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RACE. THIS ESPECIALLY HAPPENS WHEN BACKING UP AND MY BODY IS CONTORTED TO SEE OUT THE REAR WINDSHIELD. BUT IT ALSO HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY WHEN DRIVING FORWARD AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND HAD NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS ALMOST RUNNING INTO CARS OR OBJECT IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE REFERRED THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALER. THEY SAY THEY HAVE NO REMEDY FOR THE PROBLEM. I WAS REFERRED TO TOYOTA CORPORATE NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS PHONE # 1-800-331-4331 AND HAD AN INVESTIGATION CASE OPEN, CASE NUMBER 1307222061. AFTER THE INSPECTION OF MY VEHICLE THEY SAID THAT MY TRUCK IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. I STILL FEEL THAT THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR AN ACCIDENT. ANOTHER SIDE NOTE IS THAT WHENEVER I BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN TO THE DEALER JUST ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THEY WOULDN'T CHARGE FOR THE INSPECTION OR BRAKE ADJUSTMENTS AND SO NO PAPERWORK WAS WRITTEN UP OF MY COMPLAINTS WHICH HAS HAPPEN TWO OR THREE TIMES. SO YOU PROBABLY WON'T SEE MUCH OF ANY HISTORY ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WAS BY DESIGN TO NOT HAVE A PAPER RECORD TO AVOID RECALLS OR HAVING CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS DOCUMENTED. I HAVE ALSO MENTIONED THIS TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS DURING ROUTINE SERVICE VISITS BUT IT WAS NEVER REALLY WRITTEN UP. I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET THAT OTHER TACOMA OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE LAST INCIDENT THAT I HAD A MONTH AGO I ALMOST WENT OF A CLIFF BECAUSE MY FOOT CAUGHT ON THE GAS PEDAL WHILE BRAKING. IT'S A POOR DESIGN TO HAVE THE BRAKE PEDAL GO BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE GAS PEDAL AT ANY TIME WHEN THEY ARE SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. *TR

INITIALLY BEGAN OCCURRING ON HIGHWAY OFF-RAMPS THAT CURVED IN AN ARC. ACCELERATOR WOULD DIE AND NOT RESPOND TO BEING PUSHED DOWN. ENGINE WOULD NOT EVEN REV. LOSS OF FORWARD MOMENTUM WOULD LAST 5-9 SECONDS AND CAUSE TRAILING VEHICLES TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION. ACCELERATOR WOULD THEN RETURN TO BEING RESPONSIVE, AND ENGINE WOULD REV WHEN ACCELERATOR PRESSED, AND SPEED INCREASE ONCE AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES OVER A SPAN OF 25000 MILES; 3 TIMES WHEN TURNING TOWARDS LEFT ON A RAMP, AND THEN ONCE WHEN TURNING TOWARDS RIGHT ON A TRAFFIC CIRCLE. IN MID DEC 2012, ISSUE AGAIN OCCURRED WHILE PASSING A VEHICLE ON A STRAIGHTAWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH. ACCELERATOR BECAME NON-RESPONSIVE, AND SPEED DROPPED, WHILE IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE DURING PASSING MANEUVER. IN FEB 2013, ISSUE OCCURRED WHILE TURNING LEFT NINETY DEGREES, IN MID-TURN, FROM A FULL STOP AT A T-INTERSECTION. HAVE SPOKEN TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER, WHO CONTACTED TOYOTA USA REGIONAL OFFICE IN MANSFIELD MA, AND WAS TOLD THAT TOYOTA "WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT HAD CHOSEN NOT TO ISSUE A SERVICE BULLETIN ON IT AT THIS TIME". *TR

THE CONTACT WAS STILL AWAITING THE INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED IN HAWAII. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.

THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE ISSUES WHICH MAKE A DEADLY COMBINATION. WHEN I STOP IN TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY THEN ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WILL REV AT A HIGH RPM WHILE FAILING TO ACCELERATE AS IT WOULD UNDER NORMAL OPERATIONS. NOW THIS IS WHERE IT IS SCARY FOR ME. WHEN I LET OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL UNDER THESE CONDITIONS, SOMETIMES THE RPM'S WILL GO DOWN AS YOU WOULD EXPECT BUT SOMETIMES THE RPM'S WILL STAY VERY HIGH EVEN AFTER I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. AT THAT POINT I STEP ON THE BRAKE, TURN ON MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS, PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE THEN TURN IT ON AGAIN. THIS IS ALL TOO REMINISCENT OF THE PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA CARS THAT ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. LUCKILY, THE FIRST ISSUE I MENTIONED, WHERE THE CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY AFTER STOPPING, IS STOPPING THIS CAR FROM ACCELERATING AT A HIGH SPEED AND CAUSING INJURY TO ME AND ANYONE IN MY PATH. *TR

I LET GO OF THE GAS PEDAL THEN THERE IS ANOTHER PROBLEM THE TRUCK DOES NOT STOP IMMEDIATELY OR DECELERATE BECAUSE THE SENSOR HAS A DELAY. I HAVE TO STEP ON THE BRAKES VERY HARD. RIGHT NOW I TRIED TO PUT SOME LUBE ON THE JOINT OF THE PEDAL BUT IT IS ELECTRONIC-PROBLEM COMPARE TO CABLE AND SPRING. ONCE YOU RELEASE THE PEDAL IT WILL DECELERATE ON ITS OWN. WHILE MOVING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 25 MPH OR LESS ON A CROWDED SURFACE STREET, A TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED RED, AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO BRAKE, THE ENGINE OF MY TOYOTA TACOMA SUDDENLY REVVED UP TO A VERY HIGH RPM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS IT WAS DESIGNED AND THAT ALTHOUGH THE FLOOR MATS WERE INSTALLED CORRECTLY, THEY SHOULD BE REMOVED. THE CONTACT DID NOT FEEL THIS WOULD REMEDY THE FACT THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK IN THE OPEN THROTTLE POSITION WITHOUT ANY INTERFERENCE FROM THE FLOOR MATS. THE TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD AND HIT THE CAR IN FRONT WHICH STOPPED THE MOMENTUM AND KILLED THE ENGINE. THE ACCELERATION AND POWER OF THE ENGINE WAS SO GREAT THAT THIS ALL HAPPENED IN ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS. WHEN HE RESTARTED THE ENGINE, EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE FINE AS THE TRUCKS COMPUTER SEEMED TO RESET ITSELF. HE REPORTED THIS TO TOYOTA AND ASKED THAT THE TRUCK BE CHECKED OUT. WHEN WE WENT TO PICK UP THE TRUCK AT HOOMAN TOYOTA, WHERE A FACTORY TECH CAME TO INSPECT IT, HE WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS FINE AND ACCELERATION SYSTEM (PEDAL LINKAGE) WAS FINE AS WELL. HE WAS EVEN TOLD THAT THE FLOOR MAT WAS UNHOOKED AND PROBABLY GOT STUCK ON TOP OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE FLOOR MATS WERE NOT UNHOOKED WHEN WE DROPPED OFF THE TRUCK. MY HUSBAND TRIED THE FLOOR MAT ON TOP OF THE PEDAL WHILE STEPPING ON THE BRAKE AND THE RPM DID NOT GO UP MUCH AT ALL, CERTAINLY NOT ENOUGH TO OVERPOWER THE BRAKING SYSTEM AS THE TECH SUGGESTED. WE BELIEVE THERE WAS A COMPUTER MALFUNCTION AND NOT A MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION WHICH WAS THAT THE TECH CHECKED OUT. THE CASE MANAGER WAS INFORMED OF THIS BEFORE AND AFTER THE INSPECTION. AFTER THE RECALL NOTICE ON TV IN AUGUST, WE REMOVED THE FLOOR MATS FROM THE TRUCK, A SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED 10/19/09 (WITH NO FLOOR MATS) WHICH DID NOT RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING WESTBOUND ON I-90 (KENNEDY EXPRESSWAY) AT APPROXIMATELY 9:40 AM ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 8, 2009, IN MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLOWED TO EXIT THE EXPRESSWAY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME EXITED, I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND MY TRUCK IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES BUT THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE, EVENTUALLY REACHING 80 MPH. I STEERED THE TRUCK INTO THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND WAS NOW PRESSING AS HARD AS I COULD WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, AT WHICH POINT I DROVE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AND THEN PARK, WHERE THE TRUCK FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. THE ENTIRE INCIDENT LASTED LESS THAN 30 SECONDS. WITHIN 15 MINUTES AN IDIOT TRUCK PULLED UP BEHIND ME AND TOWED ME A SHORT DISTANCE UP THE EXPRESSWAY TO A SAFETY AREA, WHERE I WAITED FOR THE AAA TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER WHERE I HAD PURCHASED IT LESS THAN 2 YEARS BEFORE. THE DEALER KEPT MY TRUCK UNTIL AUGUST 13, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE REASON THE TRUCK ACCELERATED WAS BECAUSE THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK UNDER THE HEAVY DUTY FLOOR MATS WHICH I HAD PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER AT THE TIME I BOUGHT MY TRUCK. I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THE PEDAL HAD GOTTEN STUCK UNDERNEATH THE FLOOR MAT, BECAUSE THE FLOOR MAT WAS NOT POSITIONED SO FAR FORWARD THAT THE PEDAL COULD HAVE GOTTEN STUCK ON IT. 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA TRD OFF-ROAD LARGE, SUDDEN, UNEXPECTED INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS WHILE STOPPED AT A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. I HAD JUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A RED LIGHT WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ROAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I WAS NOT ABLE TO KEEP THE TRUCK FROM MOVING FORWARD BY APPLYING ADDITIONAL BRAKING PRESSURE. A MAN WHO WAS ABOUT TO CROSS THE STREET IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK HEARD THE NOISE AND JUMPED BACK ONTO THE CURB TO AVOID BEING HIT. THE TRUCK PROCEEDED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND APPROX. ANOTHER 100 FEET BEFORE THE RPMS RETURNED TO NORMAL AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THERE WAS NO CROSS TRAFFIC AT THE TIME THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED. APPROX MILEAGE IS 10K. I FINALLY GOT MY TRUCK STOPPED RIGHT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. A LADY CAME RUNNING OUT FROM A BUILDING THAT WORKS FOR THE ATLANTA JOURNAL CONSTITUTION TO MAKE SURE I WAS OKAY. SHE SAID THAT SHE SAW SMOKE AND THOUGHT THAT MY TRUCK MIGHT BE ON FIRE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY PARENTS. MY DAD STARTED TO DRIVE MY TRUCK. I WAS DRIVING BEHIND MY DAD AND IMMEDIATELY SAW MY DAD TAKE OFF IN MY TRUCK...WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON! I WAS TERRIFIED THAT MY DAD WAS GOING TO WRECK. MY DAD WAS ABLE TO TURN IT OFF AND GET IT OFF THE MAIN ROAD. WE CALLED MILTON MARTIN TOYOTA AND THEY HAD A TOW TRUCK PICK IT UP THE NEXT DAY. THEY KEPT MY TRUCK FOR 5 DAYS AND GAVE ME A RENTAL CAR. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT THEY PUT 50 MILES ON MY TRUCK AND IT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. THEY SAID THAT I NEEDED TO PICK MY TRUCK UP AND RETURN THE RENTAL CAR! THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD DRIVE IT AGAIN OR KNOWINGLY LET SOMEONE ELSE DRIVE IT WHEN IT WILL DO THE SAME THING WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT! WE ARE TALKING ABOUT PEOPLES LIVES HERE. ON MAY 28, 2008, WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT 2 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UP AN EMBANKMENT. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AFTER SEVEN FEET. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WITH THE DEALER SINCE MAY OF 2008, BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. AS A RESULT, THEY WILL NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WILL SEND AN ENGINEER TO THE DEALER IN APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. IN THE INTERIM, THE CONTACT MUST EITHER PAY FOR THE RENTAL VEHICLE THE DEALER HAS PROVIDED OR DRIVE HIS OWN VEHICLE. HE STATED THAT HE WILL NOT DRIVE HIS VEHICLE BECAUSE HE MAY NOT BE AS LUCKY WHEN THE NEXT FAILURE OCCURS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 500.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, IT ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL. THE VEHICLE DROVE THROUGH THE WALL OF HER GARAGE AND INTO HER GUEST BATHROOM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT CURRENTLY REMAINS. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,100.

ON 01/04/2008 I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT IN TRAFFIC. I WAS STOPPED APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET FROM THE REAR BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. WHILE STOPPED MY VEHICLE, A 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA DOUBLE CAB BEGAN TO ACCELERATE VIOLENTLY. I PROCEEDED TO PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE AND IT RAMMED INTO THE STOPPED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET. THE ACCELERATION WAS VIOLENT AND THE TRUCK WAS "FISHTAILING" FROM SIDE TO SIDE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS PUSHED UP AGAINST ANOTHER VEHICLE AND I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES. THE TRUCK EVENTUALLY SHUT OFF BUT NOT BEFORE I RAMMED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, THE IMPACT WAS SO SEVERE I BENT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY CHEST. I SUFFERED INJURIES TO MY CHEST, NECK AND SHOULDER.
