The frame is so rusted in my truck my mechanic said it may snap at anytime and is not safe to drive. I know Toyota tundra’s from 2000-2003 have been recalled for same reason.
This report addresses the critical structural integrity concerns related to excessive corrosion, and frame material loss affecting the main ladder frame chassis. The degradation of the frame members poses a significant and immediate safety risk, including potential catastrophic structural failure, detachment of critical components, and failure of safety systems (e.g., braking and fuel lines) mounted to the frame. Location: Mid-frame section (beneath the cab) and rear sections (near the leaf spring mounts and rear axle).

We are the first owner of this 2005 Toyota Tundra Limited with only 91K miles. The frame is rusted so badly that we are afraid to drive down the road. This rusted problem could cause potential harm or death to us and others on the road.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who determined that the vehicle might not pass a safety inspection due to the position of the holes and rust. The warning lights were repaired but the sub frame was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a frame shop, the frame shop declined to service the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact about an Extended Warranty, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.

Severe frame rust due to cheap frame material. Earlier year models were recalled but 05 and 06 were not, just a limited campaign. Frame looks like it has been coated before, but this is a known issue with these trucks. I have contacted Toyota and they basically said, sorry, we can't do anything.
Severe rust throughout the frame
Original owner. Well known frame rust safety issue as documented by thousands of 2005 Tundra owners. Toyota did an inspection for frame rust several years ago and opted for coating to deal with issue hastily given the long delay/backlog with replacing entire frame. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Now major safety/inspection issues with frame area and gas tank. Unable to allow my child to drive back to college. Not safe. Not worth risking kids lives. Would be interested to learn how many owner/operators need to report serious injury/fatalities before NHTSA enforces action against Toyota for corporate greed.
The driver's side front frame has rotted out disconnecting the mount for the anti-roll bar. This has happened despite several reports to the dealership going back many years that the frame was rusting rapidly which, upon examination, they said that it was OK. They did apply a coating which might have delayed the process a bit but ultimately resolved nothing. For trucks that had perforated frames during the first few years, they replaced the frame. I tried to take care of mine, but it has finally failed and they say the replacement program is over. They are unwilling to provide even the necessary frame section and mounting bracket for the sway bar (~$545) for the frame shop to install %(2120).This vehicle has less than 98,000 miles on it and is used for short trips performing farmette duties. Frame failure can cause catastrophic accidents and should not be ignored by the manufacturer regardless of age. They know they used bad steel and should act accordingly. My action has been delayed by storm damage to frame shop which didn't reopen until December.

The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was not included in a recall related to the failure. This vehicle was purchased as a certified used vehicle from Johnston Toyota. It was recalled by Toyota for a rust problem. In October 2014 the vehicle was treated by the dealer (Johnston Toyota) with a rust inhibiting compound due to the rust problem. Approximately 1-2 years ago this vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle was badly rusted, and he believed that Toyota had a program to address this issue. I spoke to the Toyota service department and I was told that this vehicle is not covered. Approximately 2 weeks ago an independent mechanic advised the rust problem is extensive and the vehicle will be unsafe to operate. Although Toyota advises that this is a widespread problem for this type vehicle, they refuse to address it. Furthermore, when I asked them why the rust inhibiting compound they used to correct the problem did not solve the issue, they further refuse to respond.

FRAME IS VERY RUSTY. STRAP HOLDING FUEL TANK IS DANGEROUS , REAR SUSPENTION ,AND SHOCKS BROKEN
I seen that Toyota were recalled for the frame issues on 2004 and up, mine is 2005 tundra with frame issues, like it’s sad, such a nice truck, but frame is horrible. Why is mine not being shown as recalled, but yet I have frame problems? I got my truck from a 1 owner who had it since new, it just hit 100,000 miles on it, it was serviced by Toyota dealership, I’m not sure why they didn’t do nothing with it over the years to help or fix the rust issue on the frame. It’s not just a little rusty, it’s really rusty, and it was garage kept too. Did they forget to include my vin number when they started the recalls? Doesn’t make sense why they would fix some and not all, all around the same years. Thanks Jim
The frame has several holes in it. Toyota said they did the corrosion prevension on it and said the repair is out of warranty. The sway bar has broken free of the frame and there are several hole and flaking spots on the frame.
DISCOVERED SEVERE RUST THROUGH ON THE UNDERSIDE FRAME.
2005 TUNDRA FRAME IS RUSTED IN MANY PLACES. VERY BAD WHERE FRAME SECTIONS MEET AND NOW THE FRAME IS RUSTING THROUGH THE MAIN HORIZONAL FRAME ITSELF AS THE ATTACHED PICTURE INDICATES. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR YEARS BUT IS BAD ENOUGH NOW THAT IT IS NOT SAFE AND WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION. I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS FRAME AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS OK WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE RECALL. I T HAS BEEN RUSTING EVER SENSE. I PURCHASED A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA UNAWARE OF THE WIDE-SPREAD RUST ISSUES THIS MODEL FROM TOYOTA IS SUFFERING. I WAS INFORMED BY MY MECHANIC THAT THERE ARE 4 SERIOUS RUST ISSUES PRESENT ON THE VEHICLE THAT PREVENT IT FROM PASSING INSPECTION. 1) A LARGE SEVERAL SQUARE INCH PERFORATION IN THE CENTER OF THE FRAME MEMBER 2) "PANCAKING" PRESENT ON A LARGE SECTION OF THE FRAME 3) A LARGE PERFORATION IN ONE OF THE FRAME'S CROSS MEMBERS 4) A SIGNIFICANTLY RUSTED BODY MOUNT SOMEHOW, ONLY MODEL YEARS 2000-2003 WERE RECALLED FOR THE TUNDRA BY TOYOTA, AS IF THE REST OF THE GEN 1 TUNDRAS DIDN'T HAVE THE EXACT SAME FRAME PART NUMBER. WORSE YET, I REGISTERED ON TOYOTA.COM AND FOUND THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER REQUESTED A FRAME REPLACEMENT 60,000 MILES AGO IN 2014. TOYOTA DID NOTHING AND INSTEAD APPLIED A "CRC" OR CORROSION RESISTANT COMPOUND TO THE TRUCK. BASED ON WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE THE APPLICATION OF THIS COATING THIS CAN MAKE YOUR TRUCK INELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL SERVICE THIS ISSUE EFFECTIVELY TOTALS THE TRUCK AS IT WON'T PASS A SAFETY INSPECTION WITHOUT RECTIFYING THIS ISSUE. I AM IN QUITE AN UNFORTUNATE SITUATION AS A RESULT AS THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE.

IT WOULDN'T PASS INSPECTION DO TO THE ADVANCED STATE OF CORROSION. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS RECALL FOR FRAME REPLACEMENT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND ALL THESE TRUCKS ARE RUSTING OUT AND MANY STILL ON RD PUTTING LIVES IN JEOPARDY AS THOUSANDS ARE UNSAFE GOING DOWN HIGHWAYS. I BROUGHT IT INTO BERLIN TOYOTA IN PORTLAND ME ON RIVERSIDE DR. THEY BROUGHT ME TRUCK IN AND DID THE INSPECTION AND AGREED FRAME WAS NOT SAFE. THEY SAID MY TRUCK HAD TOO MANY MILES ON IT. I ASKED ABOUT THIS SAME TOYOTA THAT THEY BOUGHT BACK FROM A CUSTOMER WITH OVER A MILLION MILES ON IT ORIGINAL DRIVE TRAIN AND THEY HAVE BRAGGED THAT THESE TRUCK GO MORE THAN A MILLION MILES IF MAINTAINED PROPERLY. THEY KEPT TRYING TO TALK ME INTO BUYING A NEW TRUCK AND WERE ADAMANT ABOUT MY MILES BEING TOO HIGH. 220,009 MILES PLUS OR MINUS THIS WAS JUST OVER A YEAR AGO. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I STILL OWED CLOSE TO 10,000 FOR THIS VEHICAL AND THAT THEY NEEDED TO STAND BEHIND IT. WELL LEFT EMPTY HANDED AND WENT BACK TO MY MECHANIC AMD TOLD HIM WHAT WAS SAID. HE INFORMED ME THAT THAT WAS RIDICULOUS BECAUSE HE HAD A CUSTOMER COME IN LAST WEEK THAT JUST HAD THEIR FRAME REPLACED AT 300,000 MILES AND IM JUST GETTING BLOWN OFF BY THEM. A YEAR LATER AMD I CANT EVEN GET TOYOTA TO RESPOND. THEY KEEP SENDING ME RECALL INFO ABOUT AIRBAG RECALL BUT WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THE FRAME RECALL. HE SAID THAT REALLY STRANGE BECAUSE HE'S HAD 3 CUSTOMERS OVER PAST 6 MONTHS WITH SAME TRUCK SAME YEAR AMD THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THEIR FRAMES REPLACED BY TOYOTA AND THEIR MILEAGE WAS AROUND THE SAME WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE BEING ALMOST 290,000. IM A SINGLE PARENT WITH CHILDREN AND IM MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS.

2005 TUNDRA WITH MAJOR FRAME RUST. TOOK IT IN DURING THE ORIGINAL RECALL WHERE THEY SPRAYED THE FRAME WITH A "RUST PREVENTATIVE COATING" WHICH FELL OFF IN A YEAR. THE FRAME IS NOW DANGEROUSLY RUSTY AND TOYOTA REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING MORE. TOYOTA NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING ALL OF THE AFFECTED FRAMES, NOT JUST THE ONES THAT DIDN'T PASS THEIR "INSPECTION" BACK WHEN THE ORIGINAL RECALL HAPPENED. THE RUST THROUGH PROBLEM IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF TUNDRAS AND TACOMAS ON THE ROAD THAT ARE DANGEROUSLY RUSTY BECAUSE OF TOYOTA'S FAITHLESS RESPONSE TO THE PROBLEM. TOYOTA NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO REPLACE THE REMAINING FRAMES THAT WERE PART OF THE RECALL.

I CONTACTED LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AS RECALL HAS EXPIRED AND TOYOTA CORPORATE WILL NOT DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THIS TUNDRA WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SPRAYED IN 2014 AS PART OF THE "FIX" BUT THE FRAME IS RUSTING AND ROTTING APART. MORE SIGNS OF ROTS ARE VISIBLE ON THE FRAME.

IN 2014 TOYOTA WAS ALLOWED TO PUT A BAND-AID ON A PROBLEM THAT NEEDED A TOURNIQUET - APPLYING A RUST CONVERTER COATING TO A FRAME THAT, BECAUSE OF THEIR FAILURE TO MANUFACTURER IT PROPERLY, DESERVED REPLACING. I WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA (CASE NUMBER [XXX]) THAT BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOOK THE BAND-AID THEY WERE NO LONGER LIABLE UNTIL THE GOVERNMENT FORCED THEM VIA FURTHER GOVERNMENT SAFETY RECALL ACTIONS TO DO MORE. MY HOPE IS BY WRITING THIS THAT THE GOVERNMENT CAN BE PROACTIVE AND SOLVE THIS SAFETY CONCERN BEFORE THEY HAVE TO COLLECT ENOUGH DEATH AND ACCIDENT STATISTICS TO TAKE NOTICE OF THIS ISSUE. HAVE ALSO ATTACHED A COUPLE OF PICTURES WHERE I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR SHACKLE BRACKET ON THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE AND ALSO THE RACK PORTION OF THE RACK& PINION STEERING. I HAVE ATTACHED THE INVOICE FOR THE REAR BRACKET AND CAN SUPPLY AN INVOICE FOR THE RACK IF NEEDED.

NO SUPPORT FROM THEM - THEY ARE SAYING IT IS MY PROBLEM.

I HAVE NO PICTURES TO UPLOAD AS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND STILL AT THE GARAGE. AFTER THAT THE POWER STEERING ROTTED AWAY WHICH GRAPPONE TOYOTA REPLACED AND AT THAT TIME I BROUGHT THE RUST TO THERE ATTENTION AGAIN . THEY SAID IT LOOKED NORMAL AND NOT TO WORRY. AFTER THAT I KEPT MY EYE ON IT. BROUGHT IT TO GET MY ANNUAL INSPECTION. THE TECH BROUGHT ME OUT SHOWED ME THE RUST AND TOLD ME THAT I HAD 1 OR 2 YEARS LEFT BEFORE THE FRAME WOULD NEED TO REPLACED OR REPAIRED DUE TO RUST . THE TUNDRA HAS 155.XXX MILES ON IT GETS WASHED REGULARLY . CONTACTED TOYOTA USA THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE SOMEONE CONTACT ME. TOYOTA OF KEEN CALLED ME AND TOLD BE THE TRUCK WAS OLD AND THE PERSON WHOM I SPOKE WITH TOLD ME IT WAST HIS FAULT BECAUSE HE WASN'T THERE AND THE PROBLEM AREAS I DESCRIBED TOYOTA DIDN'T PAY THE TO SPRAY PROPERLY, ( PARTS PEOPLE CANT SEE UNLESS THEY REALLY LOOK) BUT I COULD DRIVE IT IN AND THEY COULD LOOK AT IT . I CALLED TOYOTA USA AFTER RECEIVING AN EMAIL THE NEXT DAY THAT STATED I HAD THERE POSITION REGARDING MY INCIDENT AND THE REP SAID IT WASN'T TOYOTA'S PROBLEM BECAUSE THE EXTENDED SERVICE PROGRAM WAS NOT A RECALL AND EXPIRED IN 2015 I FEEL THAT IF TOYOTA KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THESE FRAMES THEY MIGHT INCLUDED THEM WITH ALL THE OTHER MODELS A BUT THEY DECEITFULLY COVERED UP THE PROBLEM WITH A SPRAY THAT HIDES THE PROBLEM LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE THEM "OLD " AS THEY PUT IT . NOW IT IS IN NEED OF A FRAME REPLACEMENT BUT TOYOTA WON'T HONOR ANY PAST RECALLS OR INSPECTIONS DONE BY A TOYOTA DEALER AND HAS LEFT IT TO ME TO DEAL WITH THE ROT. ON 06/01/18 I NOTICED I HOWEVER HAVE HOLES IN MY FRAME NEAR WHERE THE SUSPENSION ATTACHES, AND THE FRAME IS NOT SAFE FOR OPERATION ON THE ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY ARE NOT LIABLE, AND I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT LIABLE AND NO ONE WILL FIX THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE OPTION IN 2013 TO EITHER SPRAY OR REPLACE THE FRAME, THEY SPRAYED MINE BUT IT WAS NOT EFFECTIVE AND NOW I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE IS A HAZARD DUE TO HOLES IN THE FRAME. I ONLY HAVE 118,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK, AND IT HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY SINCE BEING BRAND NEW. I BELIEVE THE FRAME IS DEFECTIVE AND TOYOTA INC. I CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE OF TOYOTA AND OPENED AN CLAIM AND THE MANAGER I SPOKE TO REALLY COULD CARE LESS AND TOLD ME THAT ONCE THE WARRANTIES ARE OVER ITS NO LONGER THEIR (TOYOTA) PROBLEM. I REQUESTED A FIELD INSPECTION TECHNICIAN TO LOOK AT THE TRUCK . THAT REQUEST WAS DENIED BY THE MANAGER WHO STATED THAT HE WAS SPEAKING FOR TOYOTA. I ASKED FOR MY CLAIM TO BE REVIEWED BY SOME ONE ABOVE HIM AND HE STATED THEIR WAS NO ONE HIGHER THEM HIMSELF AND HIS DECISION WAS FINAL. IVE KEPT THE UNDERCARRIAGE CLEAN EVEN TRIED USING COATINGS TO SLOW THE DETERIORATION DOWN THE TRUCK HAS 122,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF THE PROBLEM IS TOYOTAS POOR QUALITY STEEL USED AND IMPROPER FACTORY COATINGS I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN 2014 AND I GLIMPSED UNDERNEATH THE DAY I BOUGHT IT AND THOUGHT THE FRAME LOOKED GOOD THEN A FEW MONTHS GO BY AND I GO TO DO A TUNE UP AND I START SEEING HUGE RUST SCALE FALLING ALL OVER UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION NOTICED THE PROBLEM AND HOW BAD IT WAS AS WELL AS THE REASON I DIDNT NOTICE IT AT THE DEALER WAS THEY SPRAY PAINTED THE UNDERSIDE BLACK TO HIDE THE PROBLEM, I AM A MARINE CORPS VETERAN I SERVED 2007-2011 ACTIVE DUTY EVERY PENNY I HAD SAVED UP I USED TO BUY THIS TRUCK (MY FIRST BIG PURCHASE ALL IN CASH) IVE PUT THOUSANDS INTO THIS TRUCK ALREADY REPLACING SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND MOUNTS AND ITS BECOMING A TOTAL LOSS I CANT SELL IT TO A PRIVATE PARTY KNOWING HOW DANGEROUS IT CAN BE IF THE WRONG PART FINALLY ROTS ALL THE WAY THRU AND I CANT AFFORD A NEW VEHICLE I CAN BARELY FIND WORK WITH THE ECONOMY AND PERSONAL STRUGGLES I HAVE RELATED TO MY SERVICE, I AM BEYOND UPSET AND I PRAY SOMEONE SOMEWHERE CAN HELP ME I KNOW MY TRUCK IS NOT THE ONLY TUNDRA WITH THIS MAJOR PROBLEM

TOYOTA KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT ONCE THEY SPRAY THE DEFECTIVE COATING ON IT. THE TRUCK FRAME NEEDS REPLACED AND THEY WON'T DO IT. I BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN ON JULY 13TH 2015 TO HAVE THE FRAME INSPECTION DONE BY HURLBURT TOYOTA IN EPPING NH. THEY DETERMINED THAT MY FRAME PASSED INSPECTION AND WANTED ME TO BRING IT BACK TO HAVE CRC DONE. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT THE CONDITION OF MY FRAME WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF AND HANDED THE SERVICE REP TWO PIECES OF METAL THAT HAD BASICALLY FALLEN OFF IN MY HAND. I WAS TOLD NOT TO WORRY AND THAT THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT. I KNEW THE FRAME WAS IN BAD SHAPE AND WAS DISGUSTED WHEN I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I WAS THEN CONTACTED A FEW WEEKS LATER 2 DAYS BEFORE THE RECALL EXPIRED AND WAS ENCOURAGED TO GET MY TRUCK IN TO HAVE CRC DONE, BUT THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ME A LOANER THAT I COULD TOW WITH SO I NEVER WENT IN. I WAS PREPARED TO UNDERCOAT TRUCK MYSELF AND WHILE UNDERNEATH MY TRUCK I FOUND A HOLE IN THE BOXED SECTION OF THE DRIVERS SIDE(NOT A DRAINAGE HOLE) I CONTACTED THE DEALER THAT INSPECTED AND THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT TOYOTA CORP WHICH I DID AND RECEIVED A CASE # AND AFTER A LOT OF WASTED TIME WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THE WAY THIS IS BEING HANDLED. THERE IS NO WAY THEY CAN GET CRC IN THAT BOXED SECTION WHICH IS WHERE MY PROBLEM IS. IT IS FRAME ROT NOT RUST. APPLYING CRC TO THAT AREA WILL PROBABLY ONLY MAKE THE ROT WORSE. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DO A MORE THOROUGH INSPECTION BEFORE UNDERCOATING BUT THEY HAD MY TRUCK FOR TWO DAYS AND PRINTED ON SERVICE SLIP THAT IT PASSED. ALL OF THE FRAMES ARE BAD ON THESE TRUCKS. IM NOW STUCK WITH A TRUCK THAT I PAID $10,000 TWO YEARS AGO AND NOW FEEL ITS WORTH NOTHING. I WOULD NOT SELL IN THIS CONDITION AND CANT GET ANY HELP FROM TOYOTA! ANY THOUGHTS OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THE CONTACT CHECKED THE FLUID LEVEL AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS NEARLY DEPLETED. THE CONTACT REPLENISHED THE FLUID AND THE LIGHT DIMMED. WE RECEIVED SEVERAL RECALL NOTICES FOR FRAME DETERIORATION AND THE NEED FOR INSPECTION, CORRECTION AND ANTI-CORROSION CHEMICAL APPLICATION. WE TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AS REQUESTED. THEY CALLED THE NEXT MORNING TO HAVE US PICK UP THE VEHICLE AND THE ANTI-CORROSION SPRAY (BLACK GOOEY STUFF SIMILAR TO UNDERCOATING) THAT THEY USED WAS EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING ON THE WIRING HARNESSES, BRAKE LINES, THE STEP BARS THAT WE INSTALLED AFTERMARKET LAST YEAR, INSIDE OF THE WHEEL WELLS, THE MUD FLAPS - IT WAS STILL WET AND SMELLED AWFUL. WE CONTACTED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO BLEW US OFF, WE CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST, OTHER THAN TO TAKE DOWN THE COMPLAINT ON PAPER. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND AN ATTORNEY EVEN REMOTELY INTERESTED IN ASSISTING WITH THIS CASE. TOYOTA SAYS THAT THE COATING MAY NEVER DRY SO IT WILL ATTRACT ALL DIRT AND GRIME THAT IT'S EXPOSED TO. BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED IN 2010 AND IT HAD A LOT OF CORROSION UNDERNEATH THEN. CURRENTLY HAS 50 K MILES. MY BRAKES ARE SQUEALING DUE TO CORROSION PREVENTING THE CALIPERS FROM MOVING AND THE WHEEL WAS CORRODED TO THE HUB AND IT TOOK A LOT OF EFFORT TO REMOVE IT. THE STRUCTURAL MEMBERS AND ALL THE COMPONENTS HAVE LOOSE LAYERS OF RUST. THE EXHAUST HEAT SHIELDS FELL OFF. THE SPARE TIRE RESTRAINT SYSTEM LOOKS TOO WEAK SO I REMOVED THE SPARE. THE SPARE WHEEL IS SO CORRODED THAT THE BOLT HOLES ARE NO LONGER SMOOTH FOR THE LUGS TO BEAR AGAINST EVENLY. I AM CONCERNED THAT SOMETHING BAD WILL HAPPEN EVENTUALLY IF A WEAKENED CRITICAL PART WERE TO FAIL. I DOUBT THE UNDERCOATING TOYOTA IS OFFERING FOR 04 TO 06 TRUCKS CAN HELP MUCH AT THIS POINT. THE CLERK AT YORK'S TOYOTA ADVISED ME OF (2) RECALLS ON MY PICKUP TRUCK (BALL JOINT & SPRAY FRAME) AND SAID "WE WILL CALL YOU TO SCHEDULE WHEN TO HAVE THESE COMPLETED AT NO COST TO YOU". FEBRUARY 6TH WHILE DRIVING SOUTHBOUND ON INTERSTATE 95 AT THE POSTED SPEED OF 75MPH IN SHERMAN MAINE THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA BUCKLED. AFTER PULLING TO SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND SAW THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BALL JOINT APPEARED TO HAVE SHEERED OFF CAUSING DAMAGE TO TIE ROD END, OTHER FRONT STEERING COMPONENTS AND SOME FRONT QUARTER PANEL DAMAGE. I CALLED THE MAINE STATE POLICE WHICH COMPLETED AN ACCIDENT REPORT. YORK'S HAS REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. MY INSURANCE REFUSES TO PAY BECAUSE THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT WAS A RECALLED PART. TOYOTA CORP IN CALIFORNIA HAS REFUSED TO PAY FOR ALL THE REPAIRS TO MY VEHICLE STATING THE BALL JOINT RECALL WAS FOR PREMATURE WEAR AND SINCE MY TRUCK HAS 150,000MILES IT DOESN'T QUALIFY. I NOTICED AROUND AUGUST 2006 ONE RUST SPOT ON THE BODY OF MY 2005 TUNDRA, THESE GREW TO ABOUT 12 SPOTS BY 2007 AND NOW I HAVE ABOUT 15 SMALL RUST SPOTS, THE LARGEST ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. THEY START OUT BUBBLING UP THE PAINT UNTIL THE PAINT CORRODES AND FALLS OFF AND THE PROBLEM GETS BIGGER.
