Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2008 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 43,893. It was later discovered that the CarFax report listed the mileage at 243,893.

Odometer Fraud. The contact went to purchase a 2008 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 118,000; however, it was discovered that the mileage listed on the service record sticker on the top of the windshield showed 292,000. The contact obtained a Carfax report and discovered that the mileage was 300,000.

I have multiple problems with the dash lights going on and off , have taken it to car repair when scanned and had replaced relays many times. I have read many stories of people having the same problem with toyota tundras and no one can figure it out. Toyota should have a recall for this because it is not just one or two people with this same exact problem, it is many toyota tundra owners going through the same problems that i' am experiencing.
My truck drove fine then all of a sudden my check engine, vsc and traction control light came on. I brought it to the shop and the code read P 2440. It is in limp mode and the shifting is sporadic.
Since November of 2021 I have my truck towed 20 times due to frame rusting out had it inspected at downeast Toyota in brewer a few years ago to have Frame replacement because all crossmembers where rusted so bed wasn't even on now can mounts completely gone . reason for towing so many tis frame had rusted away pinched wiring harness so I had to pay 1500 for repairs I was always told it was covered.
Vehicle accelerates slow where it takes time for truck to gain spread. Also the cruise control doesn’t work for some reason when button is pushed the cruise light comes on but truck doesn’t cruise on its own.
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TRUCK TURNED OFF A LOT WREAKED MY TRUCK DUE TO LOSING POWER. FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE IS BAD. THIS WAS A RECALL IN THE DATA BASE

ON 6/09/2020 THIS OWNER'S 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA 4.7L DASHBOARD LIGHTS LIT UP INCLUDING THE VSC, TRACTION CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE AND 4 LO. THE 4 LO LIGHT WAS FLASHING. THE TRUCK WOULD NO LONGER GO PAST 3000 RPM. WRITER DROVE THE TRUCK HOME. IT WAS THEN TAKEN TO TARBOX TOYOTA FOR EVALUATION. THEY NOTIFIED WRITER THAT THE VEHICLE'S SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM REQUIRED REPAIR AND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH TOYOTA TUNDRAS. TOYOTA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER VEHICLES IMPACTED BY THIS DEFECT. COST TO REPAIR IS $2300. TOYOTA WILL NOT ASSIST ME WITH THIS ISSUE BUT ADVISED ME TO STOP DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SO THEY ARE AWARE THAT THIS DEFECT IS DANGEROUS YET WILL NOT REPAIR IT UNDER SAID WARRANTY. I CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND THEY WERE OF NO HELP. I AM A NURSE WHO WORKS IN A HOSPITAL DURING THIS PANDEMIC AND I NO LONGER HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION TO GET TO AND FROM WORK. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WHERE TOYOTA EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTIES TO COVER THIS. HOWEVER THEY REFUSE TO ASSIST ME. NOW I AM STUCK WITH A TRUCK THAT CANNOT GO PAST 30MPH AND ITS EMISSION SYSTEM IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. *TR
BOTH HEADLAMPS HAVE BEEN MELTED BY THE TURN SIGNAL/DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP. IVE HAD TO REPLACE THE LAMPS WITH LED BULBS BUT THE LAMP IS STILL BURNED/MELTED. ALSO THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT HAS DEVELOPED SPACE THAT IS UNSECURE . IT WIGGLES BACK AND FORTH UNSURE IF THIS IS STRESS OR WEAR.

ON JUNE 13TH. MY 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA INEXPLICABLY COUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE WAS LOCATED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH AND THE LEFT FRONT DOOR. THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING, IDLE WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON THE WINDOWS WERE UP. I HAD BOTH OF MY SMALL DOGS INSIDE. I WAS NOT IN THE TRUCK . THAT DAY WAS CLEAR SKY AND STARTING TO GET HOT FOR THE DOGS . I ALWAYS LEAVE THE TRUCK RUNNING WITH AC ON FOR THEM. I WAS BUSY WORKING ON A 2000 HINO MEDIUM DUTY TRUCK. MY TRUCK WAS PARKED NEXT TO THE HINO . I WAS IN THE HINO. MY CLIENT ALERTED ME OF SMOKE COMING OUT OF MY CAB. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR ALL I SAW WAS SMOKE AND ONE OF MY DOGS WAS BARKING THE OTHER I HAD TO GO IN TO FIND. HE WAS ALIVE BUT NOT BARKING. THE FIRE WAS OVER BUT IT CAUSED ALLOT OF DAMAGE. I DON'T UNDERSTSND HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN. I FIRST TRIED TO GET SOMEONE TO INSPECT IT BEFORE I TOOK TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT TRUCK NEW. COULD NOT FIND ONE IN AREA. I TOOK TO DEALER ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN IT SO THEY DIRECTED ME TO TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS ON JULY 31ST. THIS OCCURRED ONE DAY AFTER REPLACING WATER PUMP, WATER HOSES, SERPENTINE BELT, AND FLUIDS ASSOCIATED WITH SERVICE. COST ESTIMATE $2642.78. THE SAME DAY AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES OF DRIVING ALL FOUR LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AGAIN, THIS TIME THE CRUISE WAS NOT ENGAGED. SOMETIMES ONE OR TWO DAYS PASS BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. SINCE PURCHASING MY VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER OF 2007, I HAVE NOTICED A "BUG" IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. IN PARTICULAR, THE RADIO AND AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS HAVE GIVEN ME "ISSUES" SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED MY TRUCK. I'VE NOTIFIED TOYOTA ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE RADIO AND DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, NO FURTHER WORK HAS BEEN DONE TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BECAUSE I, PERSONALLY, FEEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD REPLACE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE INSTEAD OF ATTEMPTING TO HAVE ME PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AS THEY DO THINGS "LITTLE-BY-LITTLE" INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY JUST FIXING THE PROBLEM. I TRULY ENJOY MY VEHICLE AND HAVE NO PLANS TO TRADE, SELL, OR GET RID OF IT, BUT, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN ISSUE AND THE FACT THAT SOME OF THE DOORS WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AT SPEED OR WHEN I EXIT THE VEHICLE BY KEY FOB CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON THE AIR SYSTEM IS DISABLED AND WILL NOT DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT. WHEN RESEARCHING IF THIS IS COMMON OR NOT, THERE ARE A LOT OF TUNDRA OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS SPIRAL CABLE IS EITHER A DEFECTIVE PART TOYOTA USED OR A DESIGN FLAW THEREFORE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED. TOYOTA DEALER WANTS OVER 750 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE SPIRAL CABLE. MY VEHICLE NOW HAS A LITTLE LESS THAN 70,000 MILES ON IT, AND HAS A FEATURE WHICH AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS THE DOORS AT 15 MPH, THEN UNLOCKS THEM WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS PUT IN PARK. HOWEVER, THE DOORS WILL NO LONGER LOCK UNLESS I DO SO MANUALLY WITH EACH DOOR; THE POWER MECHANISM HAS FAILED. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE CENTRAL RELAY AND CONTROLLER OF THE POWER LOCK SYSTEM IS OK; BUT THE POWER LOCK ACTUATOR (SMALL MOTOR) ON EACH DOOR HAS FAILED INDIVIDUALLY. I FIND IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO BELIEVE THAT EACH ONE OF THESE PARTS HAS FAILED IN THE SAME VEHICLE RELATIVELY EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE UNLESS THERE IS EITHER A FAULTY DESIGN OR EXTREMELY POOR QUALITY OF THE PARTS INVOLVED. IN EITHER CASE, THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR, WHICH THE DEALER ESTIMATES AT $1,746.00! PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS IF YOU ARE ABLE TO PUT SOME PRESSURE ON TOYOTA. THE POWER WINDOWS ON ALL 4 DOORS DO NOT WORK WHEN THE WEATHER GOES TO JUST FREEZING. I DO NOT THINK THERE IS ENOUGH INSULATION IN THE DOORS OR WATER IS ACCUMULATING INSIDE THE MOTORS THAT RUN WINDOWS. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2012 AND DID NOT DRIVE IT LAST WINTER AS I WORK AWAY FROM HOME FOR MONTHS AT A TIME. THIS WINTER I WAS HOME AND THE POWER WINDOWS DO NOT WORK WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE. OF COURSE WARRANTY IS UP. AFTER READING ONLINE SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM. HAVE HAD IT SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS FOR OIL CHANGES ETC. . THE DEALERSHIP'S KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IGNORE THEM. I HAVE TWO OTHER TOYOTA CARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TOYOTA TRUCK I'VE BOUGHT . THIS CAN BE CAUSED BY RAIN, CAR WASH, OR SIMPLY DRIVING ON WET ROAD AFTER A RAIN. I HAD ONE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW ANOTHER IS FAILING AND MY TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS CAN PRESENT A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT OWNERS WOULD BE USED TO THE SENSORS GOING OFF IN THESE CONDITIONS THAT THEY WILL DISMISS IT WHEN POSSIBLY A REAL OBJECT, HUMAN OR ANIMAL IS PRESENT THUS CAUSING THE "CRYING WOLF" SYNDROME AND POSSIBLE INJURY. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH THROUGH A PUDDLE OF WATER, SERVICE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF; UPON RESTART, SOME OF THE SERVICE LIGHTS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT WATER WAS IN THE VACUUM PUMP. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,197. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,846.

CONSUMER STATES FLOOR MAT ISSUES INTERFERING WITH THE OPERATION OF THE ACCELERATOR AND SLOW SHIFTING PROBLEMS*TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE PURCHASED A FULL SET OF ALL WEATHER MATS FROM THE DEALER DESIGNED FOR HIS TRUCK AND THE MAT STILL DID NOT PREVENT THE PEDAL FROM BECOMING TRAPPED UNDER THE MAT. THE RADIO WAS REPLACED DUE TO AN INTERNAL SHORT. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE WEATHER WAS HUMID, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS DRIVING 5 MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON FOR A WEEK AT A TIME, THEN IT WOULD GO OFF FOR A COUPLE DAYS, THEN BACK ON 3 MORE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY. THE OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR TESTING. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE COMPUTER WAS NOT SHOWING A CODE SO THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,5000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HESITATE DURING TAKE OFF AS WELL AS DURING COLD TEMPERATURES AND THE ENGINE MADE A RATTLE SOUND. THE RADIO WOULD COME ON AND CHANGE STATIONS BY ITSELF. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK EVEN BEFORE A RECALL WAS ISSUED. THE BLOWER MOTOR DID NOT ALWAYS WORK PROPERLY, THE RE-CIRCULATOR WOULD SHUT OFF BY ITSELF EVEN IF THE BUTTON WAS HELD DOWN FOR 3 SECONDS. UPDATED 04/20/10

I HAVE A STRONG BELIEF AFTER MY EXPERIENCE THAT TOYOTA HAS A DEFECT WITH "SPEED SENSOR WIRES' AND MAY KNOW AND IS KEEPING IT UNDER WRAPS. MAYBE BECAUSE OF SAFETY PROBLEMS OR THAT IT'S CONTRIBUTING TO A SHORT CIRCUIT AND UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AS PROFESSOR GILBERT HAD DEMONSTRATED ON ABC WITH WHAT COULD HAPPEN WITH A SHORT CIRCUIT IN SOME TOYOTA VEHICLES. SOMEONE FROM TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS THAT WAS VISITING MY DEALERSHIP PERSONALLY INVESTIGATED MY 2008 TUNDRA'S SPEED SENSOR WIRES WHICH ON ONE SIDE HAD COMPLETELY FAILED (SNAPPED COMPLETELY THROUGH) AND WAS FAILING ON THE OTHER SIDE (PARTIALLY BROKEN THROUGH) AT THE SAME SPOT. TOYOTA CHOSE TO REPAIR BOTH BUT RATHER CLASSIFIED THE REPAIRS AS A 'COURTESY REPLACEMENT' VERSUS UNDER THE VEHICLES WARRANTY. THIS I HAVE A STRONG BELIEF WAS DONE TO KEEP IT OFF THE BOOKS BACK AT HEADQUARTERS AND UNDER WRAPS. THIS HAPPENED IN JAN OF 2010. OTHER INDICATIONS THIS IS WIDER SPREAD BUT UNREALIZED AS TO BEING A DEFECT PROBLEM: 1) THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO WAIT A LONG TIME BECAUSE THEY HAD A HARD TIME RETRIEVING REPLACEMENT PARTS, PROBABLY LOW ON STOCK DUE TO OTHER REPLACEMENTS. 2) THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAD REPAIRED ANOTHER TUNDRA AT THE SAME LOCATION FOR THE SAME PROBLEM RIGHT BEFORE MINE, WHICH I HEARD ABOUT THROUGH A CONTACT. 3) INTERNET SEARCH INDICATIONS. NOTE: AT FIRST GLANCE A TORN OR SPLIT WIRE MAY APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY ROAD DEBRIS OR IN THE CASE OF A VEHICLE CRASH IF WIRE ALREADY WAS EXHIBITED PROBLEMS MAY BE THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY AN IMPACT IF DISCOVERED AFTER AN IMPACT. BECAUSE OF THESE TWO REASONS IF THIS PROBLEM IS A DEFECT IT MAY EXPLAIN WHY IT'S NOT REPORTED SO READILY. THAT'S MY FEAR. FROM MY FINDINGS I'M CONVINCED WHAT IS CREATING THIS DEFECT IS IN DESIGN. THE WIRE PASSES THROUGH A HARNESS WHICH IS CLAMPED DOWN TO THE FRAME AND THE A-ARM WHICH PIVOTS UP AND DOWN TUGGING ON THE WIRE WHICH IS ALSO NEAR THE HOT MANIFOLD AND AFTER TIME THE CONSTANT BENDING AND TUGGING BREAKS DOWN THE SPEED SENSOR WIRE. *TR

I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA TRUCK 5.7 V8 EXTENDED CAB 4X4 MY WIFE AND I DROVE FROM CHANDLER AZ TO IDAHO ,THEN TO YELLOWSTONE, THEN BACK TO SALT LAKE AND THEN TO PHOENIX AZ TILL THEN EVER THING WAS GREAT THE TRUCK RAN VERY WELL. WE COMING DOWN INTERSTATE 17 FROM FLAGSTAFF TO PHOENIX ABOUT 3/4 OF THE TO PHOENIX. I WAS TRAVELING AT THE SPEED LIMIT AT 75 MPH AND HAD JUST PUNCHED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO PASS A CAR WHILE GOING UP HILL. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT RELEASE BACK AS NORMAL . THE TRUCK PROCEED TO ACCELERATE TO 90 MPH AND AT THIS POINT I AGAIN PUSHED 5-6 TIMES ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO HAVE IT RELEASE BUT IT CONTINUED TO GO FASTER TO 100 MPH AT THIS POINT I KNEW WE IN DEEP TROUBLE AND DANGER. I WAS PUSHING HARD ON THE BRAKE AND TRYING TO MOVE FROM THE LEFT LANE IN TRAFFIC AT NIGHT TO THE RIGHT LANE TO TRY AND STOP THE TRUCK . I GOT TO THE RIGHT LANE AND TO THE SHOULDER AND HIT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND WAS STAMPING HARD ON THE BREAK PEDAL AND TRYING TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR TO NEUTRAL . IN THE PANIC I AM NOT SURE WHAT ALL HAPPENED BUT THE TRUCK LUNGED FORWARD VERY HARD THEN DIED / ENGINE STOPPED . I STARED THE ENGINE AND TESTED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND IT SEEMED TO BE FINE , I CHECKED FOR THE LOGICAL THINGS LIKE THE HEAVY RUBBER FLOOR MAT, HAD IT GOT PUSHED UP ON THE PEDAL BUT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE AS IT WAS 4 INCHES AWAY AND IT HAS RUBBER KNOBS OR STUDS THAT PUSH INTO THE CARPET AND WILL NOT SLIDE ALSO MY LEFT FOOT WAS FIRMLY PLANTED ON THE MAT AT ALL TIMES . NO WAY THAT MAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS NO DIRT ETC AS THE ACCELERATOR HAS A HEAVY SPRING AND THE PEDAL IS 3-4 INCHES OFF THE CARPET. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS AS IT SCARED US A LOT AND WE HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE IN THIS TRUCK AND TOYOTA. *TR ALSO, THE BATTERY SHORTED OUT INTERNALLY. UPDATED 11/13/09
