In certain situations when stopping briefly and then accelerating the pedal is dead. For a short amount of time the accelerator does not work and then it launches the truck forward aggressively. There has been a few instances when I am turning left and the truck does not move and I am stuck in the middle of oncoming traffic before the truck suddenly lurches forward.

My 2022 had a new crate engine put in at 26,000 miles in approx June 2025 (told me it would be 2 days but in less than 24hrs the service advisor called and told me it was completed) and from the second I picked up my truck and started it at the dealership, I heard a loud, fast ticking noisy sound coming from under the hood so I popped my hood and it sounded like a diesel engine and as I started driving I felt a weird popping/vibrating noise when turning either right or left at slow speeds and it felt like there were no shocks or motor mounts or something was bent and the rear end was skipping and making a loud thud when slightly stepping on gas pedal and Toyota said it's all normal. It also lost all power while I was driving 2 days after I picked it up from engine replacement along with the continuous surging forward when taking off from stop sign or red light. My front seat is cracked and they refused to fix it under warranty, my brakes squeal so bad and they said they ordered parts under TSB but it will be months before they come in, it's now been 7 months and still nothing. I will not drive further than 10 miles from my home Every time I get in this truck and put it in D, I fear for my life and when I put it in P, I breathe a sigh of relief. AutoNation Toyota in Weston, Fl replaced my engine and I truly believe that whoever put my new engine in, didn't put it back together correctly and damaged the suspension/steering system as well as the new ticking engine that is so rough. My new 2nd engine needs another engine. I feel like this truck is going to get me killed.

Whe starting from stop sign, driveway, red light, etc. the acceleration hesitates as-if the vehicle is attempting to learn to build up for the acceleration. Several times exiting these places, vehicles have had time to near my truck in traffic and cause a motor vehicle crash.

The hybrid version of the Toyota Tundra uses the same base V35A-derived engine architecture, block casting, bearing design, and oiling system as the recalled non-hybrid vehicles. Toyota has not demonstrated that hybrid engines were manufactured differently or are immune to the defect that prompted the recall. In towing conditions, an internal combustion engine failure creates an immediate safety hazard even if limited electric propulsion remains available. Electric-only operation provides severely reduced power, limited speed, and restricted torque, making highway merging, grade climbing, or maintaining safe traffic flow unsafe while towing. I request that NHTSA evaluate whether Toyota’s exclusion of hybrid vehicles is based on actual engineering differences or solely on regulatory interpretation.

2-3 second throttle lag after pressing pedal from rolling stops and sudden lurches from engine when it decides to go. From dead stops - 2-3 second throttle lag as well and acceleration lurches that are so strong that sometimes it will chirp the tires when it decides to finally go.

I'm having an issue my 2022 Toyota Tundra having incredible throttle lag issues involves a delay and sudden surge when accelerating from a stop, creating a safety concern, often described as a "dead pedal". It has caused me to get into numerous situations where i could've gotten hit by other vehicles. It is so dangerous! The dealership is unable to fix it and says to disconnect the battery regularly to try and "help" the issue.

I've had a recall procedure done to correct an acceleration hesitation, but the problem still persists. When accelerating from a stop into traffic there is a significant acceleration pause before the pickup actually accelerates. I've had several close calls to being hit by oncoming traffic because of the inability to merge into traffic as planned due to the acceleration pause. The pickup currently has just over 56,000 miles on it.

There is a well-known issue with these new model Toyota tundras where there are problems with acceleration. When at a stop and pulling out from the stop, the engine and acceleration hesitate, and there is a flag of between 2 to 5 seconds before the vehicle starts moving. The gas pedal is depressed and there is a hesitation or lag of several seconds before forward movement progresses. There was a Toyota safety bulletin update that was supposed to fix the problem and it did not. Many users are still reporting the same problem and it’s just as bad as it was before. This creates a massive safety issue when pulling into traffic or trying to increase speed to keep up with the flow of traffic when initially pulling out. My truck specifically is experiencing this anywhere from one to three times a week.

On a cold start, or if you drive with the vehicle in normal mode, from my understanding, vehicles are now fly by wire, the computer has a lag that if you attempt to pull out in front of someone, the truck will simply fail to go, then after a delay.It will take off like a rocket, to circumvent this issue, I have found.If you drive in sport mode, it tends to have less of a delay. But it's a serious safety concern.Along with the other issues with these vehicles, I have had a few close calls, where the throttle response was incredibly delayed.

When at a stop, pushing the gas pedal to go, the truck hesitates. Almost like the truck dies then all of the sudden takes off. I have had multiple instances were i was almostnT-boned. Dealer said that is normal for a vehicle with turbos. We don't experience this with my wife's Kia. No warning lights appear. Just to be clear the truck hesitates at almost every stop when trying to accelerate.

Taking off at a stop and merging in traffic or any complete stop there's a lag or dead spot in the gas pedal,a severe at times hesitation before it finally proceeds to move,a dead spot between hitting the gas and actually taking off.scary at times.,this truck had this lag before engine replace and only now has 5,000 miles on new engine and still does it.This happens every time you drive it.not a particular incident or when it's the truck is cold or warmed up.

Truck regularly experiences throttle lag leading to dangerous/hesitating entry into traffic/intersections. Either each occurrence, after 1 to 4 seconds the vehicle will lurch forward hard after the pause. It has also happened when accelerating to pass on the highway. This also happened with the original and replaced engine.

On Aug 1st I started noticing a slight shake in the vehicle on the way to work in the morning. I can best describe this shake or shutter like an imbalanced tire or a misfire. On the way home I noticed that the shutter was only present around 1,100-1,300RPMs while under gentle acceleration. About 6 miles from home I noticed the engine would bog down from time to time and shortly after I could hear a slight metallic sound. It was not until I got into town where I was set a slower road speed that I could clearly hear that the metallic sound was a rod knock. I have the hybrid model of the new Tundras, and on that last bit of stretch getting home in town the truck never threw an error or even understood that it was having an engine failure. Towards the end it would kick the engine on and off trying to flip flop between hybrid/EV mode and ICE mode. And some of those instances I think the engine was stalling out. Mine engine never seized up fully, but if it had I question whether or not the ECU would have understood this to disengage the engine from the drivetrain to propel itself only on the MG. As of today (12/5/25) my truck is still down at the shop because of this engine failure. Toyota originally covered a short block replacement under warranty. After the dealership assembled that new engine they are having nothing but one problem after another. After about a month to a month and a half of fighting the new engine Toyota's FTS got involved, were they ordered the new engine to be disassembled for investigation. They found that the new engine had completely destroyed itself, and they claim the cause was from the technician not applying assembly lube on the camshafts. After that Toyota blamed the technician at the dealership and refused to help fix my truck (which is well within the drivetrain warranty). I now have an open arbortation case with the NCDS for this.

When trying to accelerate from a stop this truck lags and hesitates to the point of stalling almost when pulling into or crossing traffic. I have been in many near miss collisions due to the hesitation and lack of response. This has been going on since I’ve owned the truck in 22 and the dealership failed to address it or even acknowledge it.

Very often when I go to press on the gas, there is a noticeable lag before my truck goes. When there is oncoming traffic it is to a point where I do not try to go in case it lags and could be dangerous. This seems to be a common problem when I talk to other owners of the same model truck.

Engine locked up on the highway at 70mph. It’s Known issue but as it’s a hybrid they said no recall. It makes no sense as I lost power and if I was passing a semi or on a hill I would have been in trouble and risked causing an accident. I was lucky to be on a downhill and near a ramp. The hybrids need to be recalled and this problem creates a real risk.

When completing a slow down, when going to accelerate there is a noticeable delay in the engine responding and before actual acceleration. This typically results in the need to press the pedal hard and suddenly it finally accelerates and at times spins the tires, almost uncontrollably. This has caused many near misses when trying to cross oncoming traffic, or entering traffic of a busy road or hwy. There have been no warning lights or indicators of any issues. This can be repeated on demand and even the dealership service tech has felt and acknowledged it. It is a common issue across the Gen 3 Tundras (2022+) models as found across many forums and owners.

The contact was able to coast over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 40,000.

First I had my engine replaced in May 2025 under the recall and service advisor informed me it would be about 3 days before they completed the engine swap and it had to sit to make sure there were no leaks anywhere and in less than 24 hrs the called me and told me my truck was all done. I went to pick my truck up they had it waiting in the service line with the engine running, I heard a strange ticking noise coming from under my hood that sounded like a lawnmower engine, the service tech tells me that is normal with the replacement engines which is absolutely false. Being a woman they tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I got frustrated and got in my truck and when I came to the first stoplight when the light turned green and I stepped on the gas pedal, my truck would not move, after about 5 seconds it surged forward and then again wouldn't move, then again my truck surged forward with a loud thud in the rear like somebody hit me from behind. It feels like it isn't kicking into gear and also my steering wheel was not centered when they swapped the engine so I have to hold my steering off to one side for my truck to drive straight. This has been a nightmare for me and Toyota refuses to acknowledge there is anything wrong. I've also been waiting for 7 months to get my front brakes fixed under the TSB and all they say is we don't have parts available, meanwhile they're building new trucks with new brake pads, rotors and calipers before taking care of the people waiting months and months? Bought the truck from BILL LUKE MARANA was told there were no major safety issues with recalls and that the only recall was debris in engine that didn't have a fix yet.... drove the car from dealership to home, upon arriving home my wife smelled gas, i thought it was cleaning fluid smell or something. drove the truck to circle k smelled gas but though it was circle k . drove the truck once more to pick up an employee so i could drop him off to drive home the car i left at the dealer . During this drive the smell of gas became undeniable . Upon arrival home the truck was parked my employee ( who had been driving behind in a different car) jumped out and said the truck was spraying gas . My daughter exited the passenger side of the vehicle and was misted with gasoline. we subsequently found a fuel line was shooting out gasoline. I called bill Luke and told them to tow the truck back they said they couldn't so i was put in a position of having to drive the car back to the dealership. I was in fear of my life if driving this car so I was forced to pay a tow truck to return the truck to bill Luke. After speaking with bill Luke management I was told there are 2 major recalls with the vehicle first debris in the engine that can cause engine failure while driving and second a problem where the fuel line rubs against the brake drum or pad and can chafe to the point of leaking. The second recall issue is the one that put us in danger. I understand that recalls happen but I am under the impression that dealerships have a paramount responsibility to make sure the cars they sell are safe and have complied with major safety recalls. I don't believe this was done at Bill Luke Marana . I believe Bill Luke Marana put me and everyone on the road in danger to sell a car. Please address this monumental failure will ALL bill Luke sales offices and service centers to prevent unnecessary death or suffering in the future.

After Toyota replaced the engine on my 2022 Tundra under recall, the truck developed serious issues that were not present before. The engine and powertrain system now knock, shake, stutter, and in multiple instances, the vehicle has shut off completely—including while driving and while stopped at intersections. These failures pose a significant safety risk to myself and others. Sudden loss of power in traffic or while braking has created close calls, especially when other vehicles are nearby. I no longer feel safe driving it. I have taken the truck to the Toyota dealership six times. They claim they cannot replicate the problem, but the symptoms return every time shortly after I leave. So far, the problem has not been confirmed by the dealer or any third party, but the issue is persistent and serious. The truck has only been inspected by the Toyota dealership. No inspections have been done by police, insurance, or other agencies. There are no warning lights or dashboard messages before or during these events. The symptoms began shortly after the engine was replaced and continue today. The vehicle is available for inspection if needed. Toyota has not resolved the issue, and I am concerned other owners who had the same recall engine replacement may be experiencing similar problems. I’m filing this to report a potential safety defect and ask NHTSA to investigate.

On [XXX] I was traveling in my 2022 Trd Pro Tundra 5.5 hv. I was taking a left turn at a green light, when all of the sudden lights appeared on my dash saying “HYBRID SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, visit your dealer”. The car continued to function for approximately 1 minute, until the next light where it turned off. I tried to turn the vehicle back on, but it started to shake when it tried to start. At this point I was stuck at the light with traffic behind me, the engine had failed and the hybrid system had failed as well. I had to call 911 and request an officer to come assist, because I was blocking traffic. The vehicle had to pulled to a lot where I could unhook my boat that was in tow, and tow the truck to the Beaver Toyota dealership. After arriving at the dealer and being there for over a week, I have been informed that they will be preforming a short block rebuild, because my truck is not listed in the 2022-2023 Toyota tundra recall. Even though my truck experienced the same engine failure due to debris in the engine as all the 2022-2023 tundras. My specific truck was not included in this recall because Toyota says the hybrid system would be able to move my car to a safe position if there was an engine failure. This was in fact not true because my hybrid system malfunction at the moment of the engine failure resulting in me stuck in the middle of the road blocking traffic having to call the police. Toyota needs to include trd pro hybrid owners in the 2022-2024 full block recall or face extensive legal action. I have so many problems with my truck and the surging engine as well as squealing brakes, lane assist is disabled but comes on and jerks the truck out of my lane and it's impossible to steer almost causing me to crash numeroys times. Every time I try to get the engine replaced which I've been waiting over a year and I was in Phase 2 and every Toyota dealership tells me something different. I can't even sell this truck privately because it needs a new engine. I have 25,300 miles as of today and I've had it in the shop so many times and they say they can't find anything wrong with it. The headliner fell down onto my head and took it in for service and I got it back worse because they broke all the clips that hold the interior headliner in place and it's hanging down. Every time I bring it in for something they tell me the parts are not available but what they're doing is trying to make me run out of my warranty which is in 2 months. They're trying to sell me an extended warranty but they can't even fix anything that's under warranty right now. I really need your help here because there's so many other issues that I haven't even gone over. Everything is misaligned on this truck and they can't fix it my rear passenger door never latched correctly and they don't know what to do they just give it back to me the same way and I have small children that sit back there but they claim they don't know how to fix it.

My engine was replaced under the recall at 75,000 miles. One day and less than 100 miles later, the engine lost motive power on the upgrade side of an overpass on the highway at 75 MPH. The vehicle slowed so quickly that if other vehicles would have been near, it undoubtedly would have caused an accident. I had it towed to the shop and they are investigating the problem. I also called Toyota Corporate HQ and notified them about the problem.

Total engine failure occurred, leaving me stranded 1500 miles away from home while on a road trip with family. The engine completely shut off on me at highway on ramp speeds, causing me to perform evasive maneuvers to pull over. Vehicle started smoking from engine compartment once parked, causing me and my [XXX] daughter to emergency exit the vehicle on the side of a busy highway. Truck was towed to closest dealer where they held the vehicle for 57 days. It was stated that this recall was the cause of the issue. They did not have a solution to the recall and simply replaced internal damaged engine parts. There were no warning lights or caution lights prior to this event occurring. There is a drastic throttle hesitation. When at a complete stop or from a slow speed, upon accelerating, it’s like the truck needs three seconds to realize I’m trying to go forward. In certain situations, this can be very dangerous. Has happened consistently since I have had the truck for 2.5 years. Vehicle began with a knocking noise which occurred for approximately 3 days. Vehicle hesitates when pressing the accelerator, especially when pulling off after a complete stop. This doesn't happen 100% of the time. From my experience, this happens 65-70% of the time with varying degrees of hesitancy. It's a safety issue as you never know when this is going to happen and to what degree; especially when crossing traffic lanes at an uncontrolled street crossing. I have spun out of my gravel driveway many times due to the hesitation.

I received a recall notice for my 22 tundra for the engine replacement. I scheduled the service and the dealers wanted to charge me doing the engine swap. They stated that due to me having a lift kit (which I had years prior to this recall) that they couldn’t do the engine swap without removing the radiator and other front end pieces or removing the body from the frame which they stated would cost me thousands of dollars. I’m trying to understand why would I have to pay for a mishap on Toyota ‘s part with the engine recall remedy that came about 3 years after my truck and me getting a lift kit installed. Why should I have to pay thousands of dollars for something that I was unaware would need to be done years later after purchasing.

2022 Tundra, especially when the engine is cold, has issues accelerating well beyond what would be expected with "Turbo lag". On several occasions when entering a roundabout from a dead stop, the engine does not have any responsiveness at all (extends for several seconds), requiring the driver to release and re-engage the pedal. This creates a safety issue. The date reported on 12/30/24 is the most recent instance, but happens routinely.

When coming to a stop, then pressing on the gas, the truck does not move. Its a dead gas pedal for approximately 2-4 seconds and then the truck takes off. Say i am trying to turn right at a light, then go to press on the gas, there is hesitation from the truck. I have brought this issue several times since i got the truck, a TSB from toyota was performed but the problem consistently persists. It does not happen everytime when coming from a stop but it is noticeable. Its a safety concern due to possibly being hit on the side when trying to merge into traffic.

Vehicle has throttle lag when pushing the accelerator. Multiple times since owning vehicle, when pushing the accelerator pedal the engine/vehical doesn’t accelerate. This normally is from a complete stop situation. I have never seen any dashboard warning lights regaurding this issue. This has created on more than a handful of occasions myself and other occupants to be put in danger. I have not had a dealer look at this issue nor have any other agencies been involved. I do believe Toyota is aware of this but have not taken my vehical in for them to look at it.

Vehicle had 11,000 miles on it and just was serviced at the dealership the day before. I was stopped in the middle turn lane trying to turn left. I hit the gas to cross 2 lanes of traffic and my engine stalled. I barely made it across traffic and the oncoming traffic had to slow down in order to avoid a T-bone type accident. The dash board lit up like a Christmas tree with warning lights. I still had battery power and able to slowly pull over to a side road, nothing more than 10mph. The engine would not turn over or engage. I power off the vehicle, let it sit for a couple minutes. I attempted to start the vehicle again, but there was no power to anything. I had the key fob and attempted to touch it to the start button to make sure it was in range, still nothing. I called road side assistance and had them tow the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership stated it fired right up without any issues the next morning. They could not provide a reason for the power loss or give an explanation for the warning lights because their computer did not have a history of it. I have since driven the become another 30k miles and have not experienced any loss of power. However, a safety recall for the exact motor in my truck was issued for all 2022 and 2023 tundras. The hybrid trucks were not in the recall. The incident described above was a big safety issue and very close to a bad accident. No doubt in my mind this motor is defective and it will happen again. I believe every truck with that engine should have the safety recall. I called Toyota and asked their Brand Engagement center about it, they said to write a complaint to NHTSA. The hybrid battery and motor are not even close in power to what the engine is. Surely there are more hybrid owners who have had the same problem. Please add the Hybrid Trucks to the recall. It’s the same engine. I am saving this message for future reference. If I die because of this defect, at least my family will own part of Toyota.

On [XXX] approximately [XXX], travelling on [XXX] in Florida between Ocala and Gainesville my Toyota Tundra 2022 Crew Max engine shut down and lost power. There were a few lite knocks that were heard over a few minutes and I pulled over at a gas station to check it. I turned the truck off and on again after filling the gas. I heard the knocks at low RPM but were not concerning due to the fact that once the engine turned over, they seemed to go away. I returned to [XXX] and headed towards Gainesville. At approximately [XXX], the engine made a few intermittent knocks and I looked at the RPMs and dash- no warnings were exhibited. I was boxed between 2 x 18 Wheelers, 1 behind me and one on right lane when the engine light came on and a notice stating loss of oil pressure. I went to get to the left lane having to pull in front of the 18 wheeler on right side, the engine cut power and the dash said engine was shut down. I believe the hybrid motor gave us enough momentum to cut quickly off road. In the process, the truck on the right came within touching the vehicle as it was enough to knock the bike over on the back of the truck. Prior to this event I brought the vehicle to Hedricks in Fayetteville for new tires, safety inspection and recalls to be worked off on 12NOV. This was a result of advice in terms of tires from the mechanics given the last recall I brought it in for. New tires were placed on the vehicle, 2 recalls were worked off and we had a discussion about the engine recall. I was told there was no solution yet from Toyota and that a solution would be coming. I asked if the vehicle was safe to drive and was told that if there are no issues, you are fine and that it is a small percentage of vehicles that may have the issue. On 2DEC, Gatorland Toyota in Gainesville, FL, where the vehicle was left confirmed with Toyota it was the engine recall issue and that the vehicle will not be available for 3 to 9 months pending repair parts. There is extreme lag when attempting to accelerate. There can be 1-2 seconds after pushing the gas petal before the engine responds and starts to accelerate the vehicle. It’s been apparent much more so when coming to a slow stop vs a harder braking stop. This lag has caused me to come close to several collisions. Such as when turning left in front of oncoming traffic. The truck moves a few feet into the oncoming lane just from momentum, but no acceleration from the petal push, until 1-2 seconds later. And by then I’m panicking and have pushed the petal all the way down so when the acceleration starts it’s full acceleration and can spin the tires or over accelerate dangerously. It forced me to drive so cautiously that this type of driving is dangerous itself.

This vehicle is a safety hazard. Whenever you come to a slow roll or a complete stop and you try to accelerate out it will lag anywhere from one to three seconds and by the time you’re getting in front of other cars, it will sometimes cause them to slow down so they don’t hit me. Had engine failure on highway with 27794 miles on the truck. There were no warnings or symptoms prior to failure. I was driving along and heard a large thud and the waring message came on stating low oil pressure and to pull over and shutdown vehicle. This happened on a multi lane highway going up hill and I barely made it over the shoulder to shutdown the vehicle. Would have been bad if I hadn't made it to the shoulder and ended up stranded in traffic lanes on a multi lane highway. I was told by the dealership that the short block would need to be replaced and that they found chunks of metal up to 2 inches in the oil pan. Vehicle is at dealership awaiting parts for repair and can be inspected anytime.

I have received a recall notice on my vehicle (Toyota Tundra) about a serious engine issue 2 months ago. The NHTSA recall number is 24V-381. The Toyota recall number is 24TA07. Now two months have passed, they still didn't have a remedy available. In the letter, it states "Engine may stall during driving. A loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds can increase the risk of crash." It is not reasonable for such a serious problem but they are still not able to provide a fix for it for this long. I am filing a complaint in hope to get this resolved. I am requesting Toyota to provide fix for this issue within two weeks. If they are not able to, they need to buy back my vehicle.

There is a hesitation / loss of power when starting from a stop . I have had it to the dealership a few times and the did a bulletin update for the transmission at least two times. The problem continues and is a safety hazard. There is a recall to replace the engine because of possible debris. When this is done I hope this issue will be resolved but I am not to hopeful.

On three occasions my check engine light came on. My panel board lite up like a Christmas tree. Went to auto store to have it checked out , they were able clear it off. Backtracked 38 miles to find the problem. Rough start at times. Cruise control has shut off by itself for no reason 2/3 times this past year Driver side seat that cover seat controls has been replaced once and second is broke again. The same way as the first.

I have a 2022 Tundra with 18,700 miles on it that is part of the recall for a new engine! This is my fourth tundra, and the materials used in the 3rd Gen are sub-par to say the least! I have already had to replace the actuator and motor in my passenger window because it was stuck halfway open/closed and it took the dealership almost 2 weeks just to get the parts and put them in. My tailgate isn't aligned properly and the mold growth on all the rubber window trim is a nightmare as well as the roof wells that are also covered in mold up and down both sides. My rear passenger door doesn't close correctly and nobody at Toyota knows how to fix any of these issues! I am very concerned about a dealership putting a new engine in my truck when they can't even change the oil or rotate my tires correctly. I also have other serious issues like, I feel a giant thud like somebody rear ended me when I step on the gas from a red light or stop sign and sometimes when I step on the gas on the highway and it scares the heck out of me. It almost feels like the back of my truck fell off. When it's raining out and my hood is covered in water and then the rain stops and I turn my windshieldwipers off, the water that rolls down the hood is spit straight into my windshield from the radiator fan! I also took it to the dealership to fix the fuel line recall, and they said they don't have the parts available, it's been over 2 weeks now and the recall was issued last year.

I have a 2022 Tundra that I purchased new. My current mileage is 18,500 and although my truck is part of the engine replacement recall that is not what I am complaining about, what I am complaining about is my front passenger window got stuck halfway open/closed and it's been sitting at the dealership for 2 weeks with no parts available to fix it (the cable snapped and motor burned out). They did put me in a rental (tacoma) but they have no idea when the parts will be available to fix my window! This is my 4th Tundra and never had an issue like this with any of my others. I've already called Toyota and they have no idea when parts will be available either. They also said they have no parts to fix the temporary fuel line recall which has been out for almost 1 year.

My 2022 tundra on the engine recall list had engine failure due to metal shavings in the oil in April 1st 2024. It had 63,000 miles on it so 3k outside of warranty. Toyota of Wichita Falls and Toyota corporate told me no know engine issues just bad luck. But according to the recall paper work Toyota knew and was investigating engine issue for over a year before mine blew up. The Toyota dealership and corporate lied about the issue. I was stranded 12hours from home with false information that cost me $35,000 on trade in value in order to get home.

On 07/10 while accelerating from red to green light, at around 50mph truck shook and alerted my attention to dash/odometer because of immediate slowing of truck. Noticed alert for “Engine Power Loss” and “Brake Failure” and instructed to see dealer. Could not go above 30mph at 2500rpm, thankfully I was 5 minutes from home. Had Tundra towed to dealer. They got Toyota involved and started a case. As of 07/12, dealer was instructed to reset engine valve settings, cleared alerts, and did normal schedule maintenance. I was instructed to drive directly to dealer or pull over where I was and have a technician drive to my location so they could further assess this issue. As if they work 24/7 and would drive outside of city limits…I put 100+ miles a day on my truck for my work commute.

At certain times, when coming to a stop, and then attempting to proceed, the throttle with delay or lag from a stop. This has happened since the start of ownership in Feb 2022 up until today. Toyota has issued on previous Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) - T-SB-0111-22 - that Toyota states should resolve an issue with "Hesitation From Stop and Surge Concerns". The TCM -Transmission Control Module - logic has been modiWed to address these conditions. According to Toyota, this updated logic SHOULD keep this from happening. This TSB was released December 16, 2022. To date, this issue continues to occur. The only way to keep it from happening is to Reset the TCM Learning. This requires the battery to be unplugged for an extended period of time. There was a subsequent TCM logic update for Recall 24TA02 (NHTSA Campaign Number 24V125000). It would seem that this TCM Logic Update has actually caused this condition to be present more often. This is something that we have expressed to our Service Consultant at every visit and it is still occurring over two years later. We have had this happen multiple times while attempting to proceed through a 4-way stop, as well as trying to merge into tra`c in slower moving city streets. There are members of an online forum who have been able to record the data aow and show when and how the delay occurs. Other than December 2022 TSB, Toyota has not acknowledged this issue even though it continues to occur on the MY22+ Tundra/MY23+ Sequoia, as well as the MY18+ Lexus LS 500. I am lead to believe this is a result of the programming for the Direct Shift 10- AT from Aisin/Toyota and/or the V35A-FTS, both Type '17 (LS 500) and the Type '21 (Tundra/ Sequoia).

Recall 24TA07 (Interim Notice 24TB07) was issued on May 30, 2024. Almost a month to the day, our engine locked up while traveling 60MPH through our town. Failure occurred July 1, 2024 @ approx. 11:30a Central. It took Toyota Roadside Assistance over 4 hours to get a tow truck to us. It was approx. 105°F Heat Index. Case was opened with Toyota Brand Engagement Center on July 2, 2024 @ approx. 7am Central. Case was closed without any further communication to us or our dealership. The lack of communication from Toyota Corporate (Brand Engagement Center) is unacceptable.

Engine is running rough, Engine is idling very high went first start.,I am concerned about the temporary fuel line repair. I don’t believe it is sufficient because we are dealing with fuel. Fuel line should be replaced along with the engine having debris in it, I am concerned with even driving it. A brand new truck shouldn’t have all these recalls! This is like the 5th one. I pay to much money to drive a truck that I’m scared of driving. At this point tell them to give me back my money and I will go purchase a horse. Thank you!

Purchased this vehicle in Oct of 2022. Since then, the vehicle lost all power and shut down on a major interstate in July 0f 2023 with many check engine lights coming on. After coasting to the shoulder of the road, I turned off the ignition, waited 15-20min, and the vehicle started. I continued my two hour drive back home, bring my truck into the dealer within 2 days of this occurring. The dealer looked at it, notified Toyota, and said they are seeing debris in the engines causing power loss, but that Toyota has not yet informed them of any remedies and to continue to drive the truck. A few months later, while towing a trailer the engine was making a knocking sound and lost power, only allowing me to reach about 2k RPM with the pedal to the floor. It lasted for about 10 min or so, and went away. After this incident, the truck makes a knocking sound while towing my 5K pound travel trailer, a few times every single time I tow. I did not bring it to the dealer for this issue. June 2024, I was towing my trailer for a camoing trip, and about 2 hours in to the 3 hour drive, the truck lost power and would not exceed 3K rpm or 45MPH on the interstate almost getting my hot by 3 different vehicles (the engine still knocks every time I tow), the loss of power lasted off and on until I made it to my camp site. I parked truck, and it sat for 3 days while we used our other vehicle to drive around in. On the way back home on that Sunday, the truck regained power, but would still make a knocking sound under load. I brought it into the dealer on the day after (Monday). I also uncovered thaty Toyota released a statement that all Dealer should stop selling my model year truck due to a "Safety Recall', one that describes the symptoms I've been having. This Engine Recall has me concerned for the safety and security of my family. The fact that my engine can stall and fail at anytime is unacceptable especially for how much I spent on this vehicle. Toyota should be buying these trucks back from us and issuing new ones that don't have this issue. Vehicle failed to move forward or reverse from a stand still. Once vehicle is shutdown and restarted, the problem does not return. When vehicle was sent to dealer it couldn't be duplicated. If this issue occurs on the open road, it could cause a collision.

In certain conditions, vehicle exhibiting unresponsive accelerator pedal. This appears to occur when vehicle is transitioning from a rolling stop to an acceleration condition. There is a 2-3 second delay and then the vehicle responds. T-SB-0111-22 has been applied to the vehicle, but condition remains This is causing an unsafe condition as one attempts to merge into traffic. Natural tendency is to apply more acceleration during these "dead pedal" conditions, and when power finally arrives, the vehicle lurches and sometimes will spin the tires. Numerous other people on forums have reported this condition and as of yet Toyota or Dealers have not been able to fix the problem

Drove the truck to the store, upon starting it to leave the engine had a loud knocking and whining sound (the truck has only 38xxx miles). I drove directly across the street to the dealership who looked and listened to it and was then told that because there was no engine light on, I would have to make an appointment for later on the following week. They then told me because the engine light was not on that I would be fine to drive home. I did question this several times and was reassured that as long as I did not "gas it" I would be okay to drive it. On the ride home, my truck power kept surging, the entire truck was shaking due to the rough idle and the engine smelt like it was very hot. I did end up towing my truck to a different Toyota dealership that agreed to look at it. The truck is no longer drivable. This is the 10th recall on this truck.

Traveling on interstate with cruise control set. 55,xxx miles. Engine abruptly stopped running. Display indicated "engine stopped. Please stop vehicle immediately". Safety concern: Vehicle would not re-start to get off the interstate. Towed to dealer. Dealer acknowledges engine is blown. Toyota guidance is to rebuild engine from parts only. Short block, turbos, heads, coolers, etc. Unacceptable. Complete assembly replacement is more cost effective for manufacturer and dealer both. Note: There were no codes displayed or other indication prior to the abrupt failure.

I had a 2022 Toyota tundra I bought it new and had it serviced at two Toyota dealerships. The truck had numerous recalls but my truck had no significant problems. I was on a trip 10 hours from my house when I heard a slight knocking sound and noticed oil on the ground under the truck. I checked the oil it was between the two marks but on the low side. I drove it to the nearest Toyota dealership to get it serviced. It was diagnosed with main bearing spun, metal pieces in oil and engine failure. The truck had 63k miles 3k outside of the warranty. There were no warnings lights or check engine or low oil pressure light on at anytime. It is hard to believe a truck can be serviced with no issues to blown engine with no warning lights. I believe Toyota knows about an issue with the early engines but are not informing the customers. If it happens under warranty the will rebuild the engine or buy back the truck. In my case it was 3k outside of warranty and the dealership and Toyota gave no goodwill warranty. I believe being serviced at a dealership they should have been checking the oil for metal particulate at each oil change. In order to fix the problem before engine failure. But that means they would catch more before warranty expiration. Never once were we offered an extended warranty either which I find strange if Toyota didn’t know about the problem. We also had an employee at the Jackson location say she saw a know issue with my vin number before changing her story two days later. My 2022 Toyota Tundra was serviced regularly at the dealership since it was purchased brand new in December of 2021. I made a point to have it checked out as much as possible due to concerns that were raised by the dealer and online resources that the truck could possibly have major engine issues. On March 26th of 2024 I took my truck to the dealer to have it serviced and they completed everything necessary according to the maintenance recommendations. On April 1st, the following week after service, my engine cut off as I was merging onto the exit lane on I-40 in heavy traffic. I coasted to the bottom of the exit ramp and shifted the truck into park to try restart it. It would not restart so I was stuck in the middle of the ramp at a light until a tow truck came to assist me. After pushing the truck in the grass of the median it was loaded and taken to the nearest Toyota dealership. The next day I received a call that they would need to pull my oil pan to examine it due to the fact that they believed my engine was locked up. Once they pulled the pan and assessed the damage to the tune of $700, I was told that my engine and both of my turbos would need to be replaced because everything was full of metal shavings due to catastrophic engine failure. The total bill would be around $24000.00 for a truck that is 2 years old. Now the warranty on this particular truck is up to 60,000 miles and I am at 64,000. The dealership said that due to the fact that my truck was out of warranty I would have to take it up with Toyota. I have called Toyota customer care and still have not gotten anyone to respond to me. I called my local dealership where I have been getting my service and the manager stated to me that Toyota is aware of this issue but they are not recalling the vehicles yet. There are more than enough of these trucks with this problem to force Toyota to do something about it, but they have refused to accept responsibility for it. I could have died. I was lucky.

This was in the middle of a drive on the interstate. I almost got hit by a truck. With family in the car. Had it towed to the dealership and it needed to have the engine rebuilt. I pursued Texas lemon law since they had my vehicle for over 90 days waiting on the repair.

Vehicle sometimes fails to accelerate when the accelerator is depressed. When this occurs, the vehicle moves forward slightly but then stalls while the engine is still running with no warning lamps or messages displaying. On several occasions this has caused me to enter into traffic (usually from an intersection or parking lot) and then discover the vehicle has stalled and won't accelerate. Removing my foot from the accelerator and then reapplying accelerator pressure usually corrects the issue but creates a dangerous situation and increases the chance for collision. The issue was first noticed on my vehicle about 2 months into ownership and has been reported several times to Vandergriff Toyota, Arlington, Texas. No resolution has been offered as the dealership can't identify or replicate the problem. T-SB-0111-22 was issued in December of 2022 and supposedly addressed this issue, but the problem continued after this work was performed on my truck. This issue is also well documented on the 2022 -2023 Tundra Forums with many owners still experiencing this problem. My vehicle is available for inspection.

They want to replace computer but frankly they have no idea and are guessing making this vehicle completely unsafe as it can never be driven on a highway where another failure would likely cause injury or death. When stopped at an intersection, whether for a stop sign, stop light, or waiting to turn, there are intermittent times when there is a very distinct lag or delay between when the gas pedal is pressed and the vehicle actually starting to move. As I said, this is intermittent and not an 'all the time' occurrence. However, when pulling out and crossing traffic, not knowing whether the vehicle is going to go or not is very disconcerting. At best, I feel like I am left exposed and wondering if I am going to get hit. At worst, that delay causes others to also have to react, potentially making the situation worse for more than just me. 1.Jan 3 Power steering wheel low power error message 2.Jan 18 Truck stalled on freeway when hit hard brake Dealer can't duplicate issue just return the truck 3. Jan 31 Check Engine light was on Dealer said Fuel gate issue but didn't doesn't need to fix 4. Feb 2 all brakes LED went out dealer replace Instrument cluster Truck still at Dealer as of today 2/10/22

The engine V6 turbo wastegate is defective. The problem causes a Reduced Engine Power. Toyota and its dealership are trying to hide the problem from consumer. This vehicle is with Michaels Toyota of Bellevue in Washington. There are numerous YouTube buyer with the same problem. This problem requires the repair shop to lift up the body of the truck from the frame to get to the turbo part of the engine.
