While driving down the highway at ~70 mph, the truck's powertrain suddenly shut off. The electronics still worked, but the RPMs dropped to zero. I was forced to pull off to the side of the road, where I tried to turn off and turn back on. The truck kept on turning off and on by itself electronically, but the engine and transmission wouldn't engage for roughly 10 minutes. I was eventually able to start the truck and limp home, but the engine was knocking afterward. Completely shutting down while driving down the highway at cruising speeds is insanely unsafe.

The lens on the forward facing camera in the front grill cracked making the camera useless and in need of replacement. I first noticed the problem about a year ago. It is available for inspection. I can't see any damage around the camera that would have been caused by an object hitting the front of the truck which leads me to believe that the camera lens cracked because of a defect. The camera has not been inspected by the dealer however I have gotten a replacement estimate at the dealer.

Both passenger seats by controls plastic cracking. Infotainment center blacks out and marker bars and back up lines for both back up and front parking have disappeared. GPS even when linked to my phone screen will black out but phone gps will still work. I have complained about this multiple times. Toyota did a factory reset on it and didn’t fix the issue took it back and a tech had to re-install program said the Infotainment center has a known issue where it forgets the program. I also informed Toyota about the engine seems to be really sluggish when at a complete stop and then start again taking a few seconds to go along with shifting hard from stop and go. Toyota did say they saw what I saw and this usually happens when people double foot pedals. I told them I don’t do that. I am frustrated and don’t know what to do I have a 72k truck that just turned 17k miles on it with a lot of issues what will I have to deal with down the road once the warranty is up? I love Toyota but this time seems like I got a lemon from Toyota with all the issues and continued rising issues.

The vehicle will hesitate incredibly bad when driving in normal mode, when you go to take off from a stop or a rolling stop at a yield sign, the engine and system simply does not engage. It's about a three second delay, and then the vehicle takes off like a rocket, I have also had misfire engine codes that have left me on the side of the road with this vehicle, once you know about the hesitancy of the starting takeoff, you know, not to pull off in front of somebody as often. There is a delay in the throttle response of the vehicle. Have also had several infotainment system issues where the system goes totally blank or shows the front camera when in reverse, we use this vehicle for business, and all the issues have been a major concern of mine, as they are all safety issues.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the rearview camera displayed a frozen image or a black screen while the vehicle was in reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure obstructed the driver's visibility, which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. In addition, the infotainment screen failed to function as intended. While the contact was using the hands-free phone, the call occasionally disconnected. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the hands-free phone disconnecting was due to the cell phone service. The dealer updated the software. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that prior to the failure, the tires on the vehicle showed inner sidewall damage. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer contacted the dealer, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

The truck has a hesitation or lag at stop signs every day, every stop sign it's like the transmission doesn't know what to do and doesn't shift into 1st unless you come to a complete stop for several seconds. Hit the throttle and nothing is happening. Even more scary thing that has happened about 8x so far is when you are stopped at an intersection and either need to wait for traffic to proceed across the road or if you are at a stop sign and waiting to merge into flowing traffic the truck will let you accelerate into traffic but then the throttle just goes dead. You can push the gas pedal all you want and the truck is just dead in the water for several seconds. Motor stays running and everything the throttle just wont work and you have to be very careful because when it suddenly comes back on if you have the pedal down to the floor it'll suddenly give you full power. It has almost caused me to get tboned 3x now and almost rear ended and then people are screaming at you and creating road rage because they think I just pulled out and stopped on purpose. I've gotten to the point I go to stop lights because I don't trust the truck to merge into flowing traffic. It feels to me like the crash avoidance is sensing something and cutting throttle but it doesn't beep or set off anything indicating that's what's happening. Dealer just always says they can not duplicate the issue. I'm going to mark 7/8/25 as the date that it's happend as I have that one written down but it did happen as recently as last week also I just don't remember the exact date.

I am the second owner of a 2024 Toyota Tundra that is branded as a manufacturer buyback/lemon. The first owner had the engine short block replaced at around 31,000 miles due to bearing failure. I later bought this truck at around 36,000 miles specifically because Toyota stated that the engine problem had been fixed with the short-block replacement. I relied on that representation and believed I was buying a vehicle whose defect had been properly remedied. Toyota has now issued safety recall 25V767 / 25TA14 (“engine may stall during driving”) for this same V35A engine, including service short blocks. I am concerned that the earlier short-block repair either did not fully fix the underlying defect or may have introduced additional problems. At around 41–42k miles, the truck developed starting issues and then completely failed to start, leaving me stranded in the middle of an intersection in town. The vehicle would not crank or start and had to be towed out of traffic, which I consider a serious safety risk. The dealer ultimately replaced a 50-amp fusible link, the 12V battery, and the starter. The total repair bill was about $2,100 before my third-party extended warranty paid a portion of it. Even with that coverage, this is an extremely expensive repair for a relatively new truck that has already had major engine work. Now I have engine history, electrical/starter problems, and I do not know what other issues may appear. I trusted Toyota’s assurance that the engine problem was fixed, and that is why I felt comfortable buying a branded lemon; this now feels like I was misled or cheated. I am also aware of ongoing engine and reliability complaints on newer 2024–2025 Tundras, which suggests there may be a broader design or quality issue. My concern is that my truck remains defective despite the prior engine short-block replacement and that other owners could experience similar no-start or stall situations in traffic.

Fuel gauge won’t reset after filling the tank or it will stay on full after using the entire tank of gas. Running out of fuel on the freeway is a major safety issue!

Jul 16, 2025 Fire

The contact owned a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in front the detached garage, the vehicle caught on fire and the incident was caught on the neighbor's camera at 4:31 AM. The neighbor then informed the contact of the incident. The contact noticed that the vehicle had caught on fire and the fire was mainly coming out of the gas pillar area. The contact stated that the entire vehicle had burned to the ground. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. A fire department report was filed. No police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle remained at the scene and was in the process of being totaled by the insurance company. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided vehicle rental assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it would take up to 30 days for a field investigator to inspect the vehicle. Additionally, the contact was informed that it could take up to 45-60 days to determine whether there was liability. The failure mileage was approximately 13,900.

I am experiencing a recurring issue with my 2024 Toyota Tundra’s fuel gauge. Specifically, when the vehicle is parked on an incline, the fuel gauge resets to indicate a full tank, regardless of the actual fuel level. For instance, after parking on a hill with approximately half a tank, the gauge displayed full upon restarting the vehicle.

The truck has a very pronounced hesitation to accelerate after slowing down or coming to a stop. Example: slow down, come to a stop at a stop sign and then accelerating to start moving. This situation happens daily and almost on every occasion after slowing or stopping. It has gotten worse over time and this issue has put me and my family in very dangerous and scary situations as the truck does not accelerate promptly and oncoming traffic is getting closer. It really has made me concerned to drive my truck and feel unsafe doing so, especially with my family.

The fuel gauge displays full tank even though the tank is quarter empty. The local Toyota dealership is unable to resolve this issue. The fuel gauge malfunction happens almost twice a month now.

From the start, I would say after a few months of having my vehicle I had EBS issues and after that I had my vehicle shut down while I was driving and go into limp mode at it said engine reduce power or reduce engine power and it has done that four times This last time it said reduce engine power and all mercy breaking systems failed. There was a knocking in the engine, like there was no oil in it and all collision malfunction sensors breaking systems everything malfunction and vehicle shut off and engine was rattling took to Toyota and they told me that it was a manufacturing issue, but there was no recall my vehicle never even said I was low on oil even though I just had an oil change. It never gave me any alerts. It would just randomly lose power to the engine and shut down but this last time it was really bad.

This is my 4th time filling out this form. Fuel gauge and miles to empty will reset with the fuel gauge reading full and the miles to empty recalculating without putting fuel in the vehicle. My computer owners online account shows I have a fuel level of 153%.This truck has 2781 miles on it. The fuel gauge has reset itself 6 times in that mileage. Have now contacted Toyota Customer fulfillment and now have a case number for the problem. My dealer then contacted me within an hour of getting that case number. Will now hopefully being getting closer to a solution.

Oct 18, 2024

The gauge fails to display the correct fuel level, especially when the fuel is below a certain threshold, which raises concerns about the accuracy of the reading and the overall safety of the vehicle. It will show full when really fuel is 1/2 tank

Oct 12, 2024

Fuel gauge continues to reset to full with the miles to empty resting without putting gas in the truck. First reported to dealer and looked at on 7/12/24 with no solution. Second incident reported and truck left at dealer on 7/29/24. with no solution. 2 fuel gauge resets occured and reported to dealer on10/2/24 again with no solution except Toyota knows the problem but has no fixes. Last resetting of fuel gauge has occured on 10/9/24. I have been informed that other Toyota Tundra trucks have been into this dealership with the same problem of the fuel gauge resetting without putting any fuel in the truck. This vehicle should come with a reliable and working fuel gauge. This can become a hazard if running out of fuel. Dealership has now looked at this problem 3 times! 5 resets of the fuel gauge in 2315 miles.

There are two recurring issues effecting my truck. These have been ongoing for 6 months, since March of this year. I have been to my dealer Lum's in Warrenton, Oregon 8 times for this. They have been unavailable to fix the issues and told me they needed a Toyota factory person to fix the issues because they do not have anyone at the dealership that can do it. Nate Whisnant, the service manger at Lum's was suppose to make this happen but he has not. They are not responding. I have sent a request to my sales person Liz Valsqueze try to get some movement from Lum's. These issues are described by my Launch code reading tool, which I had to buy to clear the codes to keep my truck operational as designed. The issues are two issues for the Power system: 1. P2450 7E 2. Evaporative Emissions System Switching Valve Actuator Stuck On There are two issues for Vehicle Body System: 1. Evaporative Emission System Switching Vlave Performance/Stuck Open 2. Lost Communication with Image Processing Module "B" Missing Message Effectively what this means is that: 1. The truck throws a check engine light and asks me to contact the dealer while simultaneously disabling ALL cruise control related functions. 2. The Cameras used for parking, backing, checking the security of loads i the bed etc are all disabled. All camera's around the truck are disabled not allowing for safety checks when pulling into or out of parking, etc. It is unsafe not to have a view around my truck when pulling in and out of tight places. It it unsafe not to have fatigue reducing cruise control on long trips and in heavy traffic with collision braking assistance that does not work. This vehicle is available for inspection by anyone that will take the time to inspect it. The is a constant warning lamp that does not go off asking me to contact the dealer to fix it. These warning lamps first appeared in February 2024. I purchased the truck in December 2023. The dealer has not fixed the problems.

Toyota has failed to deliver second key fob for vehicle operation. Purchased vehicle 5/4/24 and keep being told I will be notified in future about when 2nd key fob will be available. Cannot operate vehicle if fob lost and in area with no cell coverage. Dealership and corporate contacts have repeatedly changed the anticipated date of resolution, leaving no real sense of when issue will be resolved.

Fuel gauge will reset itself to full without filling the tank . Has happened on 3 occasions with only 1000 miles on vehicle. Have been to dealership but the explanation from Toyota is it happens due to elevation and direction in which the vehicle is parked. Problem has occurred for me twice when vehicle was parked on a flat surface after driving and once when parked on a slight incline after being parked overnight.Gauge does not return to normal after driving vehicle as it only moves down from full level. Toyota says situation may be due to location of fuel gauge sending unit in fuel tank. Dealership had vehicle for 3 days and replicated the situation. At this time I guess I will have to track road mileage to determine when to get gas and not rely on the fuel gauge. The dealership has been great, but has to rely on what solutions that corporate Toyota will supply them. Will continue to monitor the situation.

Jul 25, 2024

Fuel gauge automatically resets to full giving a false reading. Unknown fuel level creates travel hazard, because vehicle can shutdown during travel.

Jul 24, 2024

Fuel gauge randomly resets to full; true remaining fuel amount unknown unless vehicle is stopped and electronically reset. This is the second occurrence.

Jun 27, 2024

Parking camera stopped showing backup lines. All other cameras suddenly stopped working.

The transmission seems to be confused on which gear to select and hesitates to get the truck moving. It's happened to me at an intersection a few times and my car will inch forward but lags to accelerate, and vehicles behind me have been close to rear ending me. This is very reproducible in the mornings, it's very apparent or when the truck has been sitting off for a long period of time. After driving for a while it no longer happens. Every morning though this issue is apparent.

Took delivery of 2024 Toyota Tundra in January 2024. Dealer did not inform me of the 1 key fob now the second one later as part of sales process. Only when I finalized delivery was I informed of this condition. Was promised the second key fob in a few weeks. It’s now 5 months later and all previous dates for the second key fob have come and gone. Projections went from January, to March, May, July and now August. It’s a safety issue because users should have both key fobs promised in the owners manual on page 110.

Vehicle was turned off and driver exited with key remaining inside of vehicle. Returned to vehicle to remove items from interior. The driver's door locked and was unable to unlock using its proximity sensor. I attempt to the Toyota digital key. The app alerted me that the unlock feature was not available at this time. Walked around the passenger door to find it to be unlocked. Tried to use the electronic door lock feature, it still would not unlock the drivers door. I had to crawl through over the passenger seat to the drivers door to manually unlock the door.
