2021 TOYOTA VENZA Visibility/wiper Problems

Spontaneous crack in the windshield without any external mechanixal force, such as rock, hale, or any other foreign body.

I bought this vehicle when new in 2021 and I started to see people complain about the quality of the windshield and how they were getting cracks from rocks on it. I’m [XXX] , and never had a windshield replaced in my life. After seeing people post this, I added windshield coverage to my car. Last year I had a rock hit my windshield and it cause a small star like crack. Right away I called the insurance company and was able to take care of it that day. Few days ago I hear another rock ding. Had nobody in front of me but think it was from the car on the side of me kicked it up. Some time passed and I saw the crack coming down the middle of the next morning it was even longer. From the top of the window down past my camera. I have an appointment for replacement this week. What I was reading seems to be true. Never in my life had I have this happen, had plenty of rocks hit my vehicles over the year. Never had one crack. This morning, I noticed a crack on the windshield of my 2021 Toyota Venza. The car was parked outside in the cold, and it seems like there’s some issue with the Toyota windshields, as it cracked for no apparent reason.

With no impact, our windshield cracked. I see many, many other owners of 2021 and later Toyota Venza have had this happen to them. This is clearly a large problem, so I'm hoping that by reporting our incident you will be encouraged to investigate further. Please let me know if you need any additional information, but the key points are that there has been no impact to the windshield that we are aware of, and the windshield cracked while driving. Hit by a very small rock. Started with a small fracture about 8 inches long and after 8 hours the crack has multiplied to be about 16-18 inches.

The front glass (windshield) on the passenger side was broken; I got into the car, I turned it on and suddenly I heard a loud clicking noise and dirt came out from the top to the middle, disgonally, I emphasize the car was not moving.

I was driving down the freeway and my windshield unexpectedly cracked. I was not struck by a rock or other object, it cracked out of nowhere.

a small rockchip hit the windshield and caused a crack which quickly began to grow at an alarming rate. the crack grew to about the size of half the windshield in a one day time. The windshield is very surprisingly fragile.

HUGE crack developed suddenly in windshield. This is the third repair I have had to make. This windshield seems to crack easily - even the slightest hit damages the windshield. With this crack I can feel the separation in the glass. It’s dangerous. Doing a simple internet search reveals this as a known issue.

I have been driving this car for over a year and have not had any impact, collision or any kind of accident. Last week I noticed a crack around the windshield. I starts from the bottom, up towards the middle and arcs toward the driver side. There is no point of contact or any indication that a small/tiny rock fell on it. I recently bought this car and without any reason have a Crack on my windshield I have read many people who have had similar issues and gets worse after replacement having to replace their windshield many times. I am concerned at the safety of the cars windshield and its defect nature. Also have issues with visibility with wipers not clearing rain effectively on the drivers side.

Toyota 2021 Venza has faulty windshield glass the prematurely cracks under no external impact. In fact, the car was parked and when I came back, there was a crack on the windshield. Several owners have reported similar issue with similar failure patterns mode. There's also pending class action law suit for this issue.

My windshield cracked and was replaced twice for some unknown reason. First in 2021 and now 2023.

A small crack appeared on the windshield driver side of vehicle. I have no recollection of any items or debris hitting the car and damaging it. I then searched online and found there have been many registered instances of this specific car model windshield (2021 and newer) either easily cracking or seemingly cracking under no impact.

Driving at 45MPH alone on a paved road. Outside temperature 85F. Suddenly a crack appeared on the driver side of the windshield (about halfway up from hood). FRONT WINDSHIELD STRUCK BY A ROCK CREATING A DIME SIZED CRACK ON THE UPPER DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD AND WITHIN DAYS AN APPROXIMATELY ONE FOOT LONG HORIZONTAL CRACK EXTENDED TOWARD THE CENTER

The windshield has cracked 2 times since I bought the car – 1 crack per year. This is an expensive repair. In no other vehicle have I experienced windshield cracks so frequently. Is this windshield thinner than industry norms? Two times an object has hit the windshield while I was driving. Initially each impact only caused a chip on the windshield. Then a 12 inch crack appeared: a) the first crack appeared during the chip repair; b) the second incident's crack appeared 30 minutes after the windshield was chipped. The latest crack is available for inspection. The cracks caused no safety issues.

Windshield cracked with no reason. Did not drive on highway but a over 10-inch crack appeared nowhere on the driver side. It was the second time our windshield cracked. This is definitely an issue with defective glasses.

windshield cracking when i hit a "hard Shell" BUG on the interstate...Not a rock, nor a stone, but a bug!...Nobody around the vehicle in the middle of nowhere...;in broad daylight...going to cost me a high deductable because it cracked right in the line of vision for the driver...total replacement required...Toyota wont stand behind their product ...this windshield is way too soft...!!!

A crack in the windshield appeared at approximately 13,000 on June 20, 2022. It appeared after a short local trip-seemingly out of no where. Initially the crack was about six inches long, ending at the bottom of the window pane. Minutes later, the crack continued an additional foot. The crack has continuted to grow and on 10/14/22 is in excess of 2 feet long, with approximately 19,000 miles. The windshield had been out of stock since July, 2022 when I initiated an insurance claim. It is now scheduled to be replaced on 10/24/22.

Windshield cracked on its own

Windshield crack development possibly from an unnoticed very small impact. On August 13, 2022 we noticed a crack from center passenger side bottom edge arcing up and towards the driver side. No impact was ever noticed, heard, or seen. Upon close inspection there appears to possibly be a small/micro impact point that should not result in the development of a crack. This affects safety due to visibility issues. Insurance claim filed but not inspected or repaired.

I came out to get in my vehicle and observed a large crack beginning in the heat band along the bottom of the windshield. I was not aware of anything that hit my windshield to cause such a significant crack. After observing where the crack begins, it appears to have just split and cracked. A clear point of impact is not apparent.

My windshield was hit by a small rock about 2 inches from the bottom. This spread into a crack at least a foot long that curves across the windshield.

The windshield inexplicably cracked. The outside temp was 78 degrees, it was sunny and I was driving with no traffic or other cars at all on the road. There is no sign of a rock strike or any object impact to the windshield.

Windshield cracked extremely easily, small pebble cracked more than half my windshield. People also reporting theirs cracking from just sitting. (have never seen this happen in other cars I’ve owned) many other people owning 2021 Venza are having same issue. Already called Toyota Corperate to inform them of issue.

Car has a windshield crack starting at the rubber seal into the windshield approx.7 inches. It happened while sitting. It hadn't been driven.

I purchased my car on Dec. 21, 2021 and on March 12, 2022, a small pebble hit the driver side windshield on the lower side and created a small ding. By the next day, the windshield had a 30 inch crack across the drivers side in an arch toward the top center. It took until April 19, 2022 before the replacement windshield could be installed due to back order. My drivers visibility was terrible with sun glare on this crack. I had to pay my deductible to have it replaced. On May 16, 2022, as I was driving down the highway another small rock apparently hit the passengers side lower part of the windshield, but this time it shattered the glass so hard that a hole was formed and shards of glass shot out all over my dash. The crack went two ways up toward the top center in another arch. This scared me so bad I was shaking. Now my car is not safe to drive and I don't know how long it will take to have this OEM windshield replaced yet again. There is something wrong and now I am seeing that there are many more people with this same problem. There is also a class action lawsuit against Toyota for knowing the windshields are bad and refusing to do anything about it.

My new 2021 Toyota Venza front windshield spontaneously develops small cracks and micro-fractures. I noticed the first crack on the driver's side within about 6 months after purchasing the Venza. Since then, I the windshield has developed hundreds of tiny fractures which are especially noticeable when the sun shines through the windshield, just after sunrise or just before sunset. When the sun hits the cracks in the windshield, they all light up at once and the bright lights impede visibility. The windshield was inspected by the Toyota service department on two separate occasions. It was explained that the windshield is not covered by the usual car warranty or extended warranty. It was suggested by the service technician and service manager that the cracks were possibly due to gravel or sand hitting the windshield, which is considered normal wear and tear by Toyota. I explained that I have less than 18,000 miles on my car, I drive on only paved roads, and have never been pelted by gravel or sand. My car is also kept in a garage when not in use.

Defective Component: Front Windshield. Available for Inspection: Yes The passenger side windshield has a tiny crack 25 and 1/2 inches from base of windshield that extends upward 7 and 1/4 inches and arcs toward the drivers' side 4 and 1/2 inches. The car was secured in our garage from 1/4/22---4/19/22. It was not driven until 4/21/22. Shortly after the first drive the defect was noticed. Concerned that entire window could crack and lead to an accident or further repair costs. Have appt. with dealer, but my research has indicated the dealer does not cover under warranty and Toyota will not issue recall even though many others have experienced the same issue. Large (16”) crack suddenly appeared in the windshield overnight. The previous day was spent driving around town at low speeds (<40mph) and light traffic. The crack extends from the drivers side lower corner in a diagonal line toward the middle of the windshield. Over the last few days the crack is slowly becoming larger. Vehicle has not yet been inspected by Toyota for this issue.

ON Monday 4/18/2022, I was driving to work and heard a pop. Nothing hit my windshield and within about 5 seconds I seen a crack start to run across my windshield.

A large crack appeared on my windshield while I was driving in the city. I didn’t hear a rock hit it and have no idea what caused it. I have seen many complaints online about the exact same thing happening with this same vehicle. Took it to local Toyota dealer and they said it was hit by a rock or it was caused by cold temperature or a ding that I didn’t get repaired…everything except that it might be defective. Obviously a damaged windshield is a safety hazard for several reasons: visibility, supporting the structure around it, safety features not working correctly.

Windshield cracked out of no where while driving down the interstate. Started small and is now across the windshield.

The windshield had a quality issue concern, we inform the dealership and vehicle manufacturer for this concern but didn't receive solution regards this product quality issue. It become greater concern since its a very new vehicle and we doubt should be replace original windshield parts because this quality concern.

Windshield cracked on passenger side while driving. No rock or pebble was heard hitting glass. This is the second time in 3 months

My car was parked overnight in an uncovered hotel parking lot in Irving Texas. When I walked to my car in the morning, I discovered a long, arched crack, that was not there when I last drove the car the previous evening. The part of the crack that is visible to the driver is about 12 inches long, but the crack extends below, in the tinted black area, for another 6 inches or so. I believe there may be a tiny chip in the glass just below the line where the glass changes from black to clear. To-date no repair/replacement has been made, so it is available for inspection. This is a safety hazard because a compromised windshield is weakened and may crack further, decreasing the driver's visibility, as well as increasing the risk that it could shatter. My understanding is that there are a number of other Venza owners who have experienced the same thing, many of whom have filed reports with NHTSA.

While driving in June 2021, my 2021 Toyota Vensa had a small pebble hit the front windshield and this caused a large horizontal crack along the line of vision in the vehicle. This small pebble does not usually produce any damage to a front windshield.

I am leasing 2021 Venza XLE. The vehicle was purchased on 03/2021 and it has ~8000 miles on it today (02/21/2022) On 02/20/2022, at the stop sign, I heard striking sound followed by visible crack on the front windshield, bottom side near driver seat. It wasn't obviously caused by hitting from any objects but by no reason. It looks like Toyota is not taking an action to cover the ramification of this defect.

windshield breaks easily

Just purchased the car in first week of January. In the second week of February for about 1141 miles driven, a crack of about 12 inches at the bottom of the windshield (photo attached) appeared for no reason while stopping at work. Upon inspection, a seemingly small pebble, probably an ice salt of about 1mm, may have hit earlier (photo attached) which should not result in such a large crack.

Without any warning, while driving the drivers side windshield began to crack from the bottom up towards the middle in an arc.

Windshield 20 inch crack with no rock impact, no visible impact mark. Multiple other owners reporting same issue. Windshield is soft and cracking due to flex in car, or small projectile impact that should not cause major spidering cracks

Windshield cracked center of windshield, at the bottom, from a small pebble hitting it about 2 inches from the bottom. Car has approx. 7,500 miles and is barely 7 months old. Have seen this problem with dozens of owners in the same location of the windshield. Windshield also is leaking (see photo) from under the rearview mirror plastic cover.

Windshield stress cracks for no reason, nothing hit it. Venza windshields are defective and hazardous.

The vehicle was parked in a parking lot for several hours. After returning to the vehicle, it was found that a crack had appeared on the drivers side of the windshield that was approximately 12 inches long, starting at the bottom left of the windshield, and moving upwards. The crack is right through the middle of where the driver must look when driving down the road, which is a safety hazard. The salesman at the dealer stated that he hadn't heard about this problem, but in looking online, many others have complained about the same vehicle having windshield cracking issues. The vehicle is scheduled to be inspected by the dealer tomorrow.

Very fragile windshield. Although this may be hard to measure, I only had a very small rock hit and the windshield cracked. I've been driving for 25 years (16 cars and suvs) and never had such a small impact create a significant crack. It created a visibility issue and I'm worried about future issues.

Windshield cracked. Car only has about 4500 miles. Many other 2021 Venza owners are experiencing the same issue. Obstructed visibility is a major hazard.

Windshield cracked along drivers side with no known rock impact and no evidence of a rock hit. It appears the windshield just cracked. The crack was about 2 feet long. Car was only a few weeks old when this happened.

While driving we noticed a line in the windshield. After inspection we realized that the line is actually a crack. It started at the base in the right corner (passenger side). No rocks or any impact with any objects.

i am writing to complain of cracking the vehicle windshield. the vehicle is a Toyota Venza 2021 and it has been cracked very soon after two weeks that I have got from dealership. i think that is very vulnerable part of this new vehicle and is a malfunction, since my other past vehicles never had such failures in the winshield like this. i have had this problem more than three months ago and still after three month, Toyota has not provided it to me. it is extending rapidly and I have to drive with cracked winshiekld. i have ordered that on august 2021 at Toyota Westminister Vancouver and still agter three month they just update the date to the next month. I have submitted my full ICBC insurance and an extra insurance to the dealership at parts section, but they say this is a National back order for both Canada and States. While driving on the freeway I heard what sounded like a tiny pebble hit the front windshield. Shortly after while driving I noticed a crack in the shape of an arc appeared from the passenger side bottom of the windshield towards the upper center of the windshield. This crack continues to grow as I drove. Even parked, the crack has expanded slightly.

6 months old and 10k miles caught a rock at the top right hand corner where glass meets the body. Cracked immediately diagonally through the middle of the windshield just stopping about an inch left of the rearview mirror.

I bought a Toyota Venza, I made my first road trip and with approximately 800 miles traveled a small rock rubbed my windshield and became a big rock chip, I took it to repair on safelite and it was not 100, it is still crashed. I have read that several people have had the same incident, I am concerned that this is an issue of failures in the security systems with the front windshield.

Front windshield experienced a 2’ long crack from top center thru drivers filed of vision. Car was parked on a 75’ degeee day. Crack was not there prior to parking! Total replacement was recommended by dealership.

Pebble hit windshield. No initial damage 1/2 hour later, windshield crack across entire windshield. This appears to be happening to other 2021 Venza based on internet comments. There has been 2 month delay in fixing. Still not fixed. Local Toyota says there is back order of 500 windshields. This is brand new model. The number of back order sounds excessive.

6/14/2021 Rock hit front shield bottom right corner no visable crack. 6/24/2021 Parked car for a few days came back and had to use windshield wipers and their now there is an arc crack on the winshield. The arc crack comes all the way 1/3 of the way up the windshield into the drivers view when looking to the right side of the windshield. Contacted Safelight insurance and they will be replacing the windhield.

While traveling in CT on Sunday 7/11/21 a small pea sized stone struck windshield directly in front of driver position about 10 inches up from bottom of glass. Within 10 miles the windshield cracked to the bottom edge from the original contact area and additionally up and across windshield to a total length of about 20 inches. The original damage likely could have been repaired but with the run of the crack now has to be replaced. Multiple others have reported this issue on the Venza. Pics available for review by government or Toyota representatives. Windshield is being scheduled for replacement in the next week or so.

Very small rock hit front windshield, which cracked soon after purchase. I think its likely that the front windshield is under engineered and this presents a safety hazard. Im a fan of Toyota but I think there is something that needs to be looked at here.

Vehicle 2 weeks old; small pebble (pea size) hit windshield centered on passenger vision (approx 80% from left to right) ; crack starts to form in windshield to left of driver vision (approx 10% from left to right) starting at the bottom in the black trim section - nowhere near pebble impact; over the next week (whi9le waiting on backordered replacement) crack continued to arc and lengthen to 60% windshield width
