I bought a 2007 Toyota Yaris brand new. It's a one owner car with 216000 miles. 5 years ago, I noticed that the side skirt was rusty near the back wheel. Over time, they rusted out. One month ago, while pulling in at the gas station, I heard a crunch. I felt the drivers side of my car go down as well. Got out and drivers rear wheel was tilted in at the top. The passenger rear wheel was also leaning in at the top. The rear axle was rusted out on the welds. The car was about to crumple up in two. It looks to me like the car had a defect in which water somehow accumulated or ran down the back of that side skirt and rusted it, then the rear axle out. My little economical car is junked out. It may be one of the cheapest cars...well I'm a poor person. I worked my butt off to pay for that and I thought because it was a toyota that it would last. I was wrong. Thank God I only going 5mph. That could easily kill someone. Of course toyota killed all kinds of people a couple of years after I bought that yaris. I knew they were not to be trusted at that point. I thought I was going to keep my yaris forever. I guess I thought wrong.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MAGIC TOYOTA (21000 HWY 99, LYNNWOOD, WA 98036, (425) 775-4422) TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V340000 (AIR BAGS), 14V168000 (AIR BAGS), AND 14V169000 (SEATS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS EXTREME MOLD IN THE VEHICLE, WHICH MADE IT UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND SOAKED ALL THE SEATS, CARPETING, AND SEAT BELTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CARPET AND FABRIC IN THE VEHICLE HAD EXCESSIVE MOLD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS WATER EVEN IN THE AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING VENTS. WHILE AT THE DEALER, THE CONTACT REQUESTED THAT THE MECHANIC CHECK FOR THE ENTRY POINTS OF THE WATER, BUT THE DEALER DECLINED THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS COULD NOT BE COMPLETED UNTIL THE MOLD WAS REMOVED FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1802021186. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

EVERY TIME I USE THE AIR CONDITIONING, THE FRONT PASSENGER CARPET GETS SOAKED. I HAVE PULLED UP THE CARPETING AND CLEANED OUT THE DRAIN TUBE AND TRIED EVERYTHING ELSE SO MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE TRIED. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND ALMOST EVERY UNPAINTED SURFACE IN THE CAR HAS RUST ON IT. THE MOLD SMELL IS TERRIBLE. THIS IS A VERY BAD SITUATION. WATER DRAIN FOR A/C SYSTEM CONDENSER CLOGGED. HAS HAPPENED EVERY SUMMER SINCE PURCHASE IN 2007. WATER FILLS THE DRAIN, AND GETS TRAPPED WITHIN THE UNIT LEADING TO AN OVERFLOW ONTO THE BLOWER AND BLOWER MOTOR SHORTING THE RELAYS. FUSES ARE BLOWN, AND THE BLOWER MOTOR NEEDS REPLACING. ON 16 AUGUST, 2013, WHILE TURNING INTO A GARAGE PARKING SPOT I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE TO COME TO FULL STOP BEFORE THE CONCRETE COLUMN AT THE END OF THE PARKING SPACE WHEN, OF ITS OWN ACCORD, THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED FORWARD AT MUCH ACCELERATED SPEED. THE CAR CRASHED INTO THE CONCRETE COLUMN DESTROYING THE FRONT LEFT HEAD LIGHTS, ENTIRE FRONT GRILL WORK, AND THE FRAME OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS BENT SO THE DOOR WOULD NOT BE OPENED. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. ON 20 AUGUST, 2013 MY INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED THE CAR A TOTAL LOSS. *TR

I AM EXPERIENCING A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE IS MOST OFTEN HEARD UNDER ACCELERATION OR DECELERATION. THE BOLTS THAT SECURE THE CONTROL ARMS TO THE SUB FRAME ARE CORRODING AND BREAKING OFF, CAUSING SEPARATION OF THE CONTROL ARM FROM THE SUB FRAME AND LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CAR. *TR

I BROUGHT MY 2007 TOYOTA YARIS INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE BRAKES LOOKED AT AS I WAS HEARING A CLUNKING NOISE GOING OVER UNEVEN ROADS AT SLOW SPEEDS AND I WAS FEELING A STICKING WITH THE BRAKES. THE DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED ME THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE BUT THAT A BOLT IN THE FRONT CROSS ARM OF THE SUSPENSION HAD RUSTED AND BROKEN OFF. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE 2007-2011 YARIS AND THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT ADVISED ON REPLACING THE WHOLE CROSSMEMBER WITH A NEW DESIGN. THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERED THE CAR UP TO 3 YEARS OR 36000 MILES BUT MY CAR IS 3.5 YEARS AND 53000 MILES. THE COST OF THE PARTS AND REPAIR WAS OVER $2500 AND SINCE IT WAS A SAFETY CONCERN I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT FIXING IT. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED TOYOTA, WHO THEN AGREED TO PAY FOR THE PARTS. I WAS STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING THE $848 IN LABOR TO REPAIR SOMETHING THAT TOYOTA HAD DESIGNED INCORRECTLY. I HAD TO PAY THE BILL IN ORDER TO GET MY CAR OUT BUT THE DEALERSHIP ENCOURAGED ME TO CONTINUE TO CONTACT TOYOTA DIRECTLY AS THEY AGREED THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE THAT TOYOTA SHOULD RESOLVE. I CONTACTED TOYOTA USA AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY "TECHNICALLY" DIDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING SINCE IT'S NOT A RECALL AND THAT BECAUSE THEY ALREADY PAID FOR THE PARTS, THAT WAS THE SAME AS ME "AGREEING" THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE LABOR. TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH A DESIGN FLAW IN A MAJOR STRUCTURAL ELEMENT OF THE CAR. A BOLT SHOULDN'T RUST IN LESS THAN 4 YRS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S A SAFETY CONCERN. I THINK THAT WITH TIME, MORE YARIS OWNERS WILL BEGIN TO EXPERIENCE THIS AND IT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF THIS FAILURE. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM OTHER YARIS OWNERS FOR THIS SAME THING AND THE APA IN CANADA IS REQUESTING TOYOTA CANADA RECALL THE PROBLEM (10/28/11). *TR

I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS IT HAS APPROX 122K MILES (MOSTLY HIGHWAY) AND RECENTLY WHILE GETTING MY FRONT TIRES REPLACED MY MECHANIC POINTED OUT TO ME THAT THE "REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM AND CRADLE BOLTS WERE RUSTED OFF). AS AN ENGINEER I RECOGNIZE THIS AS EITHER A DESIGN FLAW OR A MANUFACTIRING ESCAPE. REGUARDLESS OF THE MILAGE A CRITICAL STRUCTURAL COMPONENT SHOULD NOT RUST AWAY IN 4 YEARS. SINCE THE SURROUNDING BOLTS ARE ALL GOOD ITS PRETTY OBVOIOUS THAT THE BOLT MATERIAL TOYOTA USED ON MY CAR WAS THE PROBLEM. SADLY WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALER (LYNCH TOYOTA , MANCHESTER CT) I WAS NOT RECIEVE THE RESPECT AND CONSIDERATION I BELEIVE ONE WHOI HAS A VALID QUALITY COMPLAINT TO RECIEVE, INSTEAD (EVEN THOUGH MY MECH EXPLAINED THE ISSUE TO THEM 6 DAYS PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT) I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE THEY HAD A PART TO FIX THE CAR , IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT BY THE WAY IT WILL BE AT LEAST $400 DOLLARS TO FIX. THIS ISN'T SOME OLD LADY WHO CAN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GAS PEDAL & THE BRAKE. THSI SI A MAJOR STRUCUTAL COMPONT THAT JUST RUSTED AWAY IN 4 YEARS! ITS AN UNSAFE CONDITION AND IT SHOULD BE RECTIFIED BEFOR SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL GRINDING WHEN HE WOULD APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. HE THEN NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE E LOWER FRONT CONTROL ARM BOLT WAS CORRODED AND HAD FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE SUB FRAME WOULD NEED TO BE DROPPED AND THE CONTROL ARM BOLT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY THEY COULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.

I [XXX] PURCHASED A 2007 TOYOTA FROM MOSS BROTHER TOYOTA THAT HAVE A DEFECTIVE TRUNK PART THAT ALLOW THE TRUNK DOOR TO COMING DOWN ON YOUR HEAD WHEN OPENED. SEVERAL TIMES THAT CAR TRUNK HAVE CAME DOWN HITTING ME IN THE HEAD. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP AND TO THE MANUFACTURE REP. AND IN APRIL 2010 THE REP MET WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND ORDERED IT TO BE CORRECTED. WE TOOK THE CAR IN TO BE FIXED BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED.
