Got my car back from service a couple months ago and it is still performing with errors. While driving in a specific lane on the freeway the car would try to pull my steering wheel to the other lane. VinFast stated an update is all is needed and the problem still is occurring. This car is dangerous. One example of this is the Pleasanton California incident.
When do you go does not detect lanes violently moves the steering wheel to try to maneuver you back into a lane. I’m constantly turning this feature off because it has posed a risk of crash on multiple occasions
I purchased my Vinfast VF8 in March 2023 as one of the first to be delivered. Unfortunately, on the first day of receiving the car, I encountered some issues. The fault sensors went off repeatedly, particularly during a rainy day. The car currently has 9600 miles on it, and it has been driven from San Diego to Irvine around 3-4 times to be serviced for issues associated with the functionality of the VF8, with one of those trips being to a repair facility in San Francisco. Issues that have been addressed include software updates, blank driving screen which occurred on three occasions repaired with a nationwide recall repair, brake repairs, AC replacement, sensor malfunctions, and hood latch issues. Records of these services have been diligently maintained as evidence of the necessary repairs. The next service appointment has been scheduled for September 2024, as it was the earliest available slot when the appointment was made in July. One recurring issue I've experienced is with the lane keep assist, which has been continuously faulty and almost caused several accidents while on the freeway. I brought this issue up to my service technician, who informed me that other Vinfast VF8 owners have reported similar problems. While the technician explained that the issue with the system is its sensitivity, I have found it necessary to turn the feature off before I start driving, to avoid close calls. Additionally, the car's front bumper has paint defects on the corners closest to the fenders, on both sides. On two separate occasions, the car turned off while I was driving and displayed sensor faults. I have documented the last incident with my cell phone as proof. During that occurrence, it took over 45 minutes to an hour to get the car restarted and I had to call a tow truck through Vinfast. The vehicle has been serviced more than expected for a new car with such low mileage, both in Irvine and San Francisco.
While driving this vehicle, the steering would take control and pull me to another lane at times. While turning or merging into another lane, it would auto correct and steer me into the lane I’m not steering into causing me from losing control of which direction I’m going into. A hard pull of the steering wheel would try to auto correct. Car automatically turned off on me while on the freeway losing power to the whole car. They said an update to the car is all is needed. This car is unsafe and needs to be recalled from the road before another injury occurs.
The lane assist feature repeatedly comes on randomly and has almost caused several accidents while I was driving. Specifically, I was driving on the freeway today in moderate traffic and the emergency lane assist warning flashes on and the car begins to jerk the steering wheel. It caused me to try to correct this and almost caused my hitting the car next to me. There are warning lights that repeatedly just come on without there actually being an issue. The roll back feature works randomly and has almost caused me to hit the car behind me. I have had Vinfats out to my house three times already regarding problems with the software, safety issues, and inability for the car to come on at all.
Lane keep assist will intermittently trigger while driving straight. After having this happen several times, I now disable the option at the start of every drive. Lane keep assist module will trigger a fault and restart mid drive despite being turned off prior to driving. This is in a drive by wire vehicle in which there is no direct connection between the physical wheels and the steering wheels. This has happened 3 times to me, and once to my wife. It has happened on my neighborhood streets going less than 20 mph, and it has happened on highways going 65 mph. The modules on the vehicle will intermittently, but frequently fail. The notification of various modules failing only appears on the center console screen and lasts for less than .5 second. There is no log available to the owner/consumer for prior failures if the system is able to "recover". The only way that I was able to discover this behavior by the lane keep assist module is because 2 systems had failures, then cleared and the "feature" was suddenly active in the middle of a drive. I do not know what the first system that failed was, by the time I looked down it have changed to the lane keep assist module. The vehicle has aprox. 6000 total miles on it as of the most recent incident. All other incidents happened prior to that mileage. Vinfast customer service is happy to take reports and tell me that their vehicle service department will get in touch with me. There have been no attempts to contact me by the vehicle service department, and the company does not allow customers to directly contact the vehicle service department.
Lane keep assist feature is on by default even with new software updates. when you merging to turning lane at intersections even with the turn signal is on, the car will try stop you merging into the turning lane.

On June 7th, I experienced a concerning incident involving the lane-keeping assist feature in my car while driving on Pinehurst Dr. in Aptos. As I was going around a corner just after the elementary school, I had forgotten to turn off the lane assist feature. Since there is no permanent way to disable this feature, when another car approached from the opposite direction, the lane assist system kicked in aggressively. I had slightly drifted too close to the center lane, and the system forcefully jerked the steering wheel to the right. This sudden and aggressive correction nearly caused me to hit a teenager riding a bicycle on the right side of the road. If I had only one hand on the steering wheel, the lane assist could have easily caused the car to veer off the road or collide with other vehicles, pedestrians, or in my case, the bicyclist. Although the manufacturer is aware of this issue, they do not seem to be giving it due consideration. The overly aggressive nature of the lane-keeping assist feature poses a significant safety risk and is a dangerous flaw in the system. I believe this problem needs to be addressed urgently to prevent potential accidents and ensure the safety of drivers, passengers, and other road users.

The line keeping assist system keeps on jerking the car into traffic
Lane keep assist feature is on by default and will try correct the steering even when it is going in straight line but one of the lane in road is missing or not vissible. This could be mainly in intersections. I also had an issue where steering wheel adjustment is not working due to communication box issue, they had to unplug and replug the wire between communication box and steering wheel. It also stopped in the middle if road saying electrical system failure with in two days of my leased car. It was in service center for 45 days and got my car back recently.
1) Forward collision detection doesn't work. Very rarely screen shows a pop up, but never applies automatic brakes. Especially when we were in traffic and if vehicle infrant suddenly stops. ..then it doesn't detect the forward stopped objects and fail to apply breaks 2) we need to push break paddle hard to stop the vehicle completely when car is below 10Mil/hrs speed . It feels like at lower speeds break paddle doesn't work. 3) The lane keeping assistant never worked. 4) Sometimes a car drags to one side of the traffic even when it is going at a speed of 25Mph.

As per the technical specifications, The VF8 car must adhere collision safety features. But actually when we drive the car on freeways, State highways, and internal roads, these safely features never worked for me. Kindly refer the attached technical feature documents so called supported features by the manufacturer.

Major Issues: Vehicle unresponsiveness: Twice in 4 days, the car was unresponsive, requiring a family member to stay in rain and cold weather (very dangerous) and wait for the car to restart(extremely dangerous). Unintended rolling: Once, the car started rolling back when parked on a slight incline, requiring me to activate creep mode. Additionally, while parked in reverse, the car inexplicably moved forward even with the gear in reverse (extremely dangerous). Speaker malfunctions: The speakers were unresponsive the first two days. On the second occasion, restarting the car resolved the issue but resulted in loud noise from the front speakers. Climate control malfunction: Despite turning off the AC and fan, cold air continues to come inside from the vents regardless of settings. This is uncomfortable and unusable during winter. Heads-up display not working(extremely dangerous). Battery warning: Technician mentioned battery is weak on new cars as per my knowledge batteries typically last 10+ years. Paintwork inconsistency: The driver-side paint color is uneven, with a clear and obvious difference between the top and bottom portions. Frunk battery cover broken. Minor Issues: Manual adjustment of drive mode required each time. System automatically turns off the 360-degree camera on turn signals. VinFast navigation is slow and inaccurate. Using CarPlay, but it frequently disconnects. CarPlay connects even when the car is parked, interrupting phone calls while talking inside home. Automatic locking not functioning as advertised. Sales rep mentioned I can just walk away with a key that will auto lock which never happened. Defrost fan automatically defaults to a high speed, and hot air directly on my face. If I try to change the fan speed, Defrost disabled. So I need to drive with a hot fan speed on my face. Lane assist malfunctioning, pulling the car closer to the right/left lane instead of correcting. Occasional triangle warning appears on the screen, unsure of its mean
