I have been trying to get the recall fixed since I purchased my vehicle in July 2023. For nearly two years, I have received repeated letters from Volkswagen urging me to have the recall addressed. However, despite calling every two months to schedule an appointment, I am always told that the part is unavailable and that they have no estimated date for its arrival. I'm continually advised to call back in another two months. Last month, after calling dealerships more than ten times since purchasing the vehicle, I contacted VW Customer Service directly. They referred me to the Macon dealership, assuring me that they would assist in booking an appointment. Unfortunately, after speaking with Macon, I was once again told to call back—this time in October—when they might receive the necessary part. I am moving back to Canada at the end of August, and despite nearly two years of effort, my vehicle remains unrepaired. I am extremely dissatisfied with this situation, especially considering the severity of the issue. I live in Georgia, where the climate is hot and humid, and I avoid driving the vehicle out of fear that the airbag could deploy dangerously. Volkswagen has failed to support me through this process, and I am left with a potentially unsafe vehicle and no resolution in sight.

My car is subject to the Takata Air Bag recall. Due to the age of the vehicle, and the hot climate where I live (California), I am in fear for my safety especially with summer around the corner. "The Old Farmer's Almanac forecasts a "scorcher" with hotter-than-normal temperatures across most of the U.S., including California." Originally, I had a service appointment for 2024 but there was a shortage of parts. I showed up for my next appointment 6/4/25 to have the service done and was told that the parts are on back order nationally until at least September. Due to the nature of my situation, my case was escalated to their RCM where I was told that nothing could be done. I asked about a loaner vehicle or a rental reimbursement until the parts arrive and they told me it was not possible. I find this to be extremely unreasonable given the severity of the recall. There are deaths and serious injuries linked to this defect and I am in constant fear when I drive my vehicle. No one should have to knowingly take this kind of risk every time they commute to work. I have spoken to multiple agents and have reached a dead end. I hope that a solution can be found for my case.

The recall for the driver's airbag was announced in late January. I received notice in February and a remedy is still not available. I've not been able to drive my car for 6 months. I do not think 6+ months is a "timely manner" and would like to file a formal complaint against VW.

I just recently purchased this vehicle, which is a 2015 beetle and see that it has a air bag recall, but no fix is available yet. The car is now 8 years old, it is BS there still isnt a replacement and I am driving a death mobile where the airbag could explode at anytime and kill me with shrapnel

Jul 13, 2023

Airbags may explode causing death or injury. No remedy for at least one year and no stop drive authorized or communicated from Volkswagen due to the severity of the recall.

Jul 13, 2023

There is a recall on my vehicle that can cause death and Volkswagen has yet to provide a remedy to fix the recall. I have asked them about switching cars until a remedy is an available and that's not an option they provide. I do not feel safe driving my car, but I have no choice to drive it because I need transportation.

NHTSA, VW has informed me that there is recall on my car that could cause life-threatening injuries to me or my children who drive the car. I first heard about the recall of the airbag in January 2023 on the news. I have contacted my dealer 3 times to get the airbag fixed and they tell me each time that they do not have a solution to fix my car. I believe I have waited patiently for 6 months waiting for a fix while also driving an unsafe car. Shouldn't you do something about this problem?

This recall has been here since January 03 2023. When I called VW they stated it was not dangerous and there was no fix. I’m concerned driving this vehicle as the recall states my airbag can deploy at anytime sending shards through my body. BW still has no remedy almost 2 months later

This is a dangerous issue but VW is doing nothing but telling us, as required. So, what are we supposed to do? Drive an unsafe car or wait indefinitely for VW to get around to having a remedy? Neither seems reasonable nor acceptable. It's supposedly related to humidity and/or heat, and my car has lived most of its life in Hawaii and Arizona, so ... How can they just say, "Your car has a safety defect that may kill you, but we aren't prepared to do anything about it" and nothing else? Shouldn't they owe us all at least a rental until the car can be made safe? Furthermore, in the recall notice they sent today, dated February 2023, despite the recall actually being from 1/5/23, they say in the same paragraph, "Don't call the dealer, they can't help" and "As always, call the dealer for help." What? Insult to possibly severe injury or death, CARFAX notified us over a month ago, and LoJack did yesterday, and when I contacted the dealer over a month ago, they claimed there was NO RECALL, despite my giving them the recall info from your site (Manufacturer Recall Number 69EM / NHTSA Recall Number 22V945), and today they said there's only a PENDING recall. So, please, tell me what we are to do, let my son drive this car or just not have a car? Also, they say it can explode, sending metal fragments flying, but is this if and when it deploys (and fails) in an accident or just randomly, whenever, just driving along? Thank you for any information, guidance, and prodding of VW. This if not fixed very quickly will certainly end our long relationship with VW.
